Dr. Weissbart is funny, caring and very organized. His lectures are very well done and extremely informative. He outlines each test well so a student can get themselves well prepared for tests. He does funny experiments in class that really keep all students engaged.Make sure you make your capital 'N' properly - he has a thing about that! ha ha
Pleasant lecture style, moves fast at times but backs up & re-explains as needed, welcomes questions. Personable & approachable, very available for help, responds to email FAST. Grades are based on 5 exams + final, homework & labs. He gives exam content breakdown for study guide. --I'd recommend him to a friend & take him again in a heartbeat.
Clear, wears a funny lab caot, very friendly. His tests are not tooo hard if you study, but no notes on the tests and the good thing there is not tooo many tests only about 5. I'd reccomend him, he is very cool.
good professor, willing to help and re-explain things, does lots of things to try to keep class interested like experiments and worksheets to make class less boring and explain things better, tests are hard, he does do a break down of whats on them, but many questions, while having the same concepts, are different from what was taught in class.
Brain is extremely helpful and easy to understand in lecture. He takes the time to get to know all his students and is always avalible for a questions. He is easy going and gives 1 homework a week plus the lab. I would highly recommend taking him for Chem 305. He is a great teacher.
This is a great class, a good teacher and all but just too damn nosey. And He'll call you out in front of the whole class like if you forget your homework or miss a class. He was cool but only to the "POPULAR" people. Other than that it's a good class.
Brian is very sweet, and helpful. He is passionate about his profession, making a hard class easier and more fun to be in. He isn't hard on the eyes either.
Great teacher that likes to have fun teaching and interacting with students. Wants to know your name and will call you out in front of the whole class. Fun class to be in however because he makes things interesting. Let's you know whats going to be on the test.
Brian Rocks! He is a great teacher. He is passionate about his job and really enjoys what he does. If you don't understand something he will go over it for you. He tells you what exactly is on the test and how much each topic is worth. His class isn't easy but its Chemistry, its not gonna be no matter who you take. I highly recomened Brian!
HE IS OK TEACHER
He does play favorites but its not a big deal the class is hard in general but other teachers are harder. he gives good notes. tests arent terrible just make sure u do the homework and aske questions or u will be lost fast
Amazing teaching style. I had other teachers but had to drop them because they were too fast paced. If you're striving for an A, do not miss his lectures (like with any other subject you will get behind), do all your homework and go to the labs. What helped me with the exams was reading the chapters that were going to be on the test and working the
Brian was awesome!!! Chemistry is a hard subject, but Brian was extremely helpful and would do almost anything until EVERYONE understood the concept. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I enjoyed his class much more than anticipated. Gets to know the students and shows genuine interest and care. Vital that you stay on top of notes, homework, and attend all lectures. Tests are fair. He will help you as much as needed until you completely understand the topic. Would recommend to anyone willing to put in effort.
An awesome teacher. Will go out of his way to get students to understand.
If you have to take Chem, Brian is the Chemistry professor you want teaching you. His effectiveness as a teacher is because his motto is "That's what I am here for." Take good notes, and come prepared! He will challenge you on a personal level, but that's what you want. Don't skip lab, or he will call you at home, hahaha
he's a good teacher and doesnt give allot of homework. one assignment per week which is usially around 12 problems. also his explanations are fairly good. if you need help he will help, but i figured it out on my own
Brian is a cool dude. He helps you whenever you need. Weekly hw which helps with the test but his test are sometimes tricky not all the stuff is covered so you really have to read the book and work hard. This is not an easy subject but he does help you get through it.
Brian is friendly, and keeps the class fun. He knows material well and is clear in lecture. His work load is not light, but typical of a 5 unit chem class. Set aside some weekend hours to complete hw and lab reports. Reading the text helps in this class, as he uses the book a lot. I woule recommend this teacher.
I took Brian for 305 and 400. He is the best professor I have ever had. I spent lots of time in his office hour which payed off a lot in the end. He is one of the most approchable people you could meet. Great guy. Is not teaching 305 any more but take him for 400. He is also excellent at getting work back within a class period or two.
Excellent, excellent teacher. Brian is the best chem teacher I have had. He is easy to approach and ask questions and will work with you until you gain understanding of the material.
HE IS A CHARACTER
Nice guy.
what can I say? Brian is the man, the best professor for chem 400, very dedicated, and fashionable, and last but not least he's my hero....
Brian is the coolest chem teacher i've ever had. Homework is due prior to every lecture, he doesn't mind messy lab reports, and gives exam topics prior to exams so you know what you need to study. This is not an easy class but Brian is very helpful and answers all questions. He does interesting demos and wears the coolest lab coats. Take his class!
Brian is awesome guy, but he tends to have favorites. Labs are okay, but his lectures tend to get very boring because he writes down everything he says. Class average on Tests were about a 64% and if you are taking Chem as a first year student, make sure you put as much effort as much as you can.
Brian is simply AWESOME! He is down to earth, intelligent, funny, and fair. No surprises on the test-everything out of notes. He breaks down the most important info and writes all his lectures on the overhead (VERY helpful). If you watch careful, u?ll learn much more then chemistry. He prepares his students well for Chem401. Highly recommended!!!
Great professor! Test topics always given in advance, and always sticks to them; no surprises. Okay with slightly sloppy labs. Always willing to answer questions in/after class and by email. Demos are fun (when they work, haha), but cover your ears! CHEM400 is not an easy class, but if you're taking it, Brian is your best bet. Wish he taught 401!
All I could say.... I wish he could teach Chem 401... and Organic Chem... He is awesome!
Still kinda weird calling a professor by his 1st name, but I'm getting used to it. Brian is a much better teacher than the last Chem prof that I had. Helpful, knows the material, doesn't vanish during lab, and doesn't make you feel like an idiot when you ask a question. CHEM 400 takes a lot of work no matter who you take...so I advise Brian. -GH
Cool guy... No surprises on the test... Explains the material well, and is very helpful.
Way better than my last chem professor in labs and helping students. Toward the end of the semester the lectures became pretty dull though, maybe it was just me. Overall he is a great chem professor and I highly recommend taking his class. -GH
PROS: Weissbart has lots of patience with students. He is very approachable and will answer all your question. No surprise on any tests. He does cool demos. CONS: Labs are very long and sometimes tedious. Lecture is a bit dry. Lab writeups can get very boring. Too much HW at times. CONCLUSION: I do recommend him but just be aware of the workload.
I want to add also to the CONS: He sometimes is a very harsh grader (especially in labs) giving almost no partial credit.
He's a good teacher. He gives you exam topics on mon and then you got the test on wed,it would better if he gave you the topics on wed so you have the weekend. Also he writes a bunch of unnecessary words during his lectures. Ex: "760torr is equal to 1atm pressue, make sure you know this" rather than just simply wirting "760torr=1atm"
If you haven't realized you're not in high school any more! This is college & it's going to take a lot of work! It's a science, it takes a lot to get a good understanding. Compared to other sci teachers he is great at explaining & helping you understand. Sometimes HW is the only way to be sure you know the material. His HW helps with the tests.
Teacher is a nice guy but makes me angry while doing homework and tests. Homework questions are often confusing and time consuming. Teacher is satisfied with a 65% class average on exams and does not change teaching method. Exam study topics are given 2 days prior to the exam.
Brian is a difficult professor. This is a good thing. If you can keep up with the workload, which is a lot, you can get a decent grade. I have heard that students who have taken easier teachers have dropped Chem 401
First off if you had any likings of Chemistry before this class not so much anymore. This professor is very hard at grading rushes through chapter after chapter in one lecture and you have no clue whats going on. His examples in lecture will be the easiest ones and then when it comes to homework its impossible and the book fails to explain anything
This is a really HARD class. He almost never clarifies his work and never explains how he gets things. You have to do have the learning on your own. Gives test topics before the test. I would not recommend taking his class. He just doesnt teach good.
I dont know what ppl before me talked about. Brian is the BEST! This is college & ppl need to prepare to work HARD. This class sorts ppl out. I am so thankful to Brian for preparing me for Ochem & much more. Take him, dont be afraid. U do your part, dont slack off-u will b fine! Study Notes, read book. HW is important. Go to BEACON!
If you are ready for some "chemical" challenges, go for him. He makes you work hard. He prepares you for the future. He does not pet anyone, that why some students are sad. He bulldozes through a lot of material in a short time. If you are ready for more chemistry, then go for BW.
I really enjoyed Brians class. Hes fairly laid back but doesn't like people skipping class. So be sure to attend every class, especially the lecture labs. This class actually turned me around from hating chemistry to enjoying it. If you want to learn a lot and are prepared to work hard take brians class. No surprises on the tests and fast grading
I can honestly say that Brian is a very good instructor. He makes you work hard to a good purpose. However, his grading policy borders on ridiculous. He will admit that there will only be 2 to 4 A's in the class. He does not curve. Trust me, I was less than 3% off the highest grade in the class and still got a B. Work as hard as you can.
Good teacher explains, great teacher inspires. Brian is simply great!
Brian's class can be really challenging. While I managed to pull a B in the class, it did take a lot of work. This is a UNIVERSITY COURSE! It isn't designed to be easy! Brian is always willing to help you with any question you have, though his lectures can be somewhat hard to understand because he only does examples. Do not miss a single class!
Brian is a chemistry genius and he expects you to be also. He is very hard because he teaches the material very quickly and expects you to keep up. Some days he is approachable and some days he is not. His exams are very hard and most people are still sitting in their seats writing when he says "time is up."
He is one of the best Professors in ARC. His teaching style is clear and concise, and he is always available if you have any questions to ask! Use Beacon tutoring! His test is not really hard but just go through your notes and the practice exams and be very careful in your answers.
Brian is one of the best teachers I have had at ARC. Unlike most professors, he takes the time to get to know his students and he always makes sure everyone understands. Of course chemistry in general is a hard subject but Brian made it interesting and fun! I tried really hard in the class and only got a C. Don't miss class or you won't do well.
Horrible pure and simple this man is far below the standard teacher. His tests are simply unfair and brutal. He said is passing he normally fails half his class so they will repeat the class and actual learn the subject. If you can take anyone else!
Brian is a tough teacher, but it is expected from a University transfer class. At the same time, he is fair, and a fun guy to be around! If you need to go higher in Chem, his class is a must. Not just Chem 400, HIS Chem 400!!! There is NO way you can make it if you can't pass this class. Be prepared to work your butt off, though! READ the book!!
Brian is very personable, knowledgeable, and available! Not an easy class! Don't be absent, use Beacon, ask for help. Offers some extra credit (!). The best instructor (in any subject) I've ever had and I hold a BA. Tests are fair and do require a grasp of the material so regurgitation doesn't cut it. The Screaming Gummy Bear awaits you!
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!
Take him, don't listen to the whiners below. He gives you exactly what he wants to be learned and tested on, and you truly get out what you put into the class. I put in a good amount of time and effort, and I got the grade I received. Also, use Beacon. It's extremely helpful. And, he's nice and funny (like what others have said) :)
Brain is awesome. His tests are hard, but if you review his lecture problems you will get them no sweat. Tough class, go to beacon. He is very helpful. He even answers my chem 401 questions all the time. He loves teaching and is always available to help.
B.W. is the best. I love chemistry because of him. He really understands what he's talking about, just make sure you review his notes about 20 minutes a day after lecture like he says. Going to Beacon is a huge plus as well. He's really funny and takes the time to talk to you so get to know him. BEST TEACHER EVER (reiterating :) )
I'm so glad I chose to take Brian for Chem 400. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about chemistry, and truly loves to teach. He's also super available to help during office hours or even though email. Show up to class, study, do your homework and labs. Like most classes, your grade will directly reflect the effort you put in.
Weissbart is awesome! He's a funny and nice guy, but most importantly he's great at teaching a really difficult subject. He doesn't give a study guide for tests, only a list of topics that will show up. Drops 4 lowest homework scores. Very easy to approach for questions, he won't make you feel dumb at all. Talk to him about food, he's an avid cook!
Purely Awesome, he is by far made me so interested in this class and chemistry in general! His class is hard and his exams are tough, but if you are willing to work, you will learn to love him. TAKE HIM! He is by far one of my favorite professors i have ever taken!
Very nice guy. Most people thought the material was difficult. To me, it was easy to understand, but tedious because of the labs and the lab reports. The tests are somewhat difficult, but not too bad. Homework is due every day and lab attendance is mandatory. Pay attention during lecture and take good notes. Awesome professor.
Professor Weissbart is an awesome person! He is very passionate about chemistry, which is noted through his labs and his lectures. His exams are difficult, but if you put in the time and study well, you should have no problems. If you want to be well prepared for Chem 401, then I recommend taking Weissbart.
Tough class, but Dr. Weissbart is amazing! I loved his chem class. What I really appreciate about his class is how the workload prepares you for the next series of chemistry. Many chem teachers are easier, but when you take that next class you aren't prepared for the vast amount of work you have to do. Not so if you take Dr. Weissbart.
He has a habit of giving examples without explanation, just writing down the answer to the problem, as if your just supposed to know what to do. The book isn't clear when it comes to trying to do your homework and his problems aren't even close to how the book is set up. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!
Great person, knows chem well, but Teaching skills need work! Difficulty breaking information down Uses a few examples & hopes you figure it out. Tests & HW questions often worded so more time is spent interpreting than answering. Lect style=write like mad w no time to understand. Learn more in 15 min w tutor than 4 hr lab/lect
Brian is a nice guy, but the class is extremely difficult and no help is offered. He does lots of example problems but does not go over the process, just writes down the answer. Didn't even bat an eye when our test averages were in the 50% range, no curve/chance to help it.Its possible to get a B, but 75% of the class will end up with a C or lower.
Everyone complains about how hard he is. Not true, just pay attention in class and you will be fine. Exams are very similar to notes and homework. You are going to have a lot of work, but it is manageable.
Brian rocks. He makes his test from examples in lecture and worksheets mostly. He gives you a helpful note card that has a lot of info that he provides. Extra points for going to Beacon where you will also get excellent help for test and homework. He's very understanding if you're trying hard. Probably best of all he's pretty entertaining in class!
He is not bad. The only two things I did not like: he never repeats himself, especially when it comes to very important stuff; and most of the time he assumes students know the material already so does not go into details how to solve the problems. It is possible to pass the class even if you fail all the exams but get A's in lab reports.
He's a really nice guy and he loves to talk. He's always interested in what you have to say, but the tests are very difficult. Do well on the labs as that will keep your grade afloat.
Weissbart was a really good teacher! His tests are based on lectures and lab calculations. I took advantage of beacon tutoring and it really helped out a lot. Take good notes during lecture and ask questions if you don't understand something, he goes over topics kind of fast. Homework assignments due everyday, DO THEM! They were great practice.
Brian is awesome. Once you understand the dynamic of the class, it is all on you for your success. He provides you with all the information you need to know in the notes, I mostly used the textbook for the homework questions. I thought lab would be horrible all semester but it goes by quickly. It is not hard if you are not lazy!
He's a great teacher, made me love chemistry again! He's not an easy grader, but if you work hard, you'll do great. His exams are mostly problem solving. For notes he doesn't only give the question and answer, but he also teaches you step by step on how to do the problems.
Brian was great. Chemistry is a very hard subject but he did the best he could to make it as easy as possible. He went over everything during lecture that you would need to know on the exam. When I studied his notes for his exams, I did very well. He's an amazing teacher and has a great personality. Never a dull moment in class.
Great professor. Engaging in lecture and funny. He is very clear, easy to follow, answers questions and follows a clear syllabus and grading structure. Lab was hard and he is a tough grader, but if you put the effort in, you'll do just fine. Chemistry is usually a really rough subject for me, but he made it enjoyable. Strongly recommend.
Brian is available and helpful and is the best professor I've ever had! I see him in the chemistry building every day all day long and he is always willing to listen and help with learning chemistry. He grades all of our papers and returns the next class meeting and I always know how much work I need to do to keep up with this difficult class.
Brian is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Very approachable, always willing to answer questions, and hilarious. His humor keeps the atmosphere in class light. BUT labs are tough, grading is harsh, no curve on exam grades, and no extra credit, which makes an A hard to get unless you are extremely proficient in chem already.
He is a really good teacher and is available if needed. He is very strict on grading. Ended up getting an 89% and he would not give me the 12 points I needed for an A though.
Brian deserves all the chili peppers. Homework and worksheets make up your test questions. Ask for help when you need it; whether you need pointers on lab write up, or would like to have Brian clarify something during lecture, he's very willing to help you out! Lectures w an old school projector, which helps you see the process in solving a prob.
Brian is a very smart person, and he teaches class like you know what you're doing. Prepare to work very hard. Keep up good lab scores and it will raise your overall score by a full letter. Go to beacon. Do your homework, and study like you've never studied before. Go to office hours! He's amazingly helpful when given extra time with you.
I had him for lab, he was really great! great at explaining labs and what needs to be done, answers questions clearly, not an easy class and you need to work for your grade but definitely a very helpful teacher. really funny and chill guy, i would definitely take him again. he is a tough grader though so beware! take your time on labs, i got a B
Beware do not take
This class is hard. It's chem so wouldn't you expect it to be? Weissbart makes the class doable but you still need to pull your weight. His lectures are kinda long at some points. Weissbart brings in demos to break up the monotony. His tests are like his lecture examples. An A is hard to reach, but if I could get one so can you.
Really good teacher. Makes you do practice problems in lecture, which really help. Tests are tough, but manageable with a lot of preparation. Labs are straightforward. He offers extra credit for Beacon, which is helpful. He answers all questions. Practice worksheet collected every lab. Prepares you for Chem 401.
Brian is an excellent chemistry professor. I took him a year ago and have since transferred, which makes me really appreciate how awesome he was. He is always willing to help you with any questions you may have, and does a ton of examples in class. It's Chemistry so it's tough, but he makes it doable as long as you put in the work.
Prof. Wiessbart is very cool and lovely person. He is ready always to help you. The class is challenging. If it's your first time having Chem lab like me it will be difficult. Homeworks are not long and easy. Two things: you have to master the lab reports and the test and you will master it.
Professor Brian is simply an Amazing professor. The class is hard so you need to work more than the usual; however, if you needed help he is always there to help. He is a very kind and friendly person. He gives you exam topics to prepare you for the test, homeworks are easy. He is passionate about what he teaches which makes him the best in the dep
lectures & labs are great for the most part, there is a ridiculous amount of homework though that is to be expected (though honestly, they should do away with sapling that stuff is the worst), but my learning style is incompatible with his teaching style. if you decide to take his class, then I would recommend same day lecture and lab.
Weissbart uses the Openstax textbook which is available online (saves students money). Grades consist of homework, labs, some quizzes, and tests. While some of the labs can be a little tricky, Weissbart was always there to help make sure we were able to collect good data. He's one of the nicest professors I've taken and he made Chem understandable.
The textbook is online which is awesome because it's expensive to buy. Everything on the tests or in lab he talks about in lecture, so there shouldn't be any surprises as long as you don't skip. Homework and worksheets are HIGHLY useful in studying for the tests but the only extra credit he offers is going to beacon tutoring.
I am so glad I took Weissbart for chem! As long as you do well on labs and homework, you will do well in the class. The grade is based on online homework, written homework, labs, tests, and a few other little things, so a B is definitely manageable. He thoroughly explains labs and answers questions. He is also super funny! definitely recommend.
Doesn't explain things well and makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Expects you to already know a ton of things and have it memorized, if not then you're in trouble. Had to do at least 1 assignment every night, lab reports are handwritten. Only gives extra credit for beacon tutoring and if you can't make it then too bad. Would not recommend
I took CHEM 4oo with he is one of the worst professors i have ever seen. the online sapling home work is difficult and he doesn't explain things that he should. after every lecture i was going to watch so many you tube videos to understand some material that he was just skipping WILL NEVER TAKE HIM AGAIN !!!!!!!!! He is the worst grader!!!!!!!!!!
Weissbart made the class pretty easy. The tests were all based on lecture so take really good notes and study them thoroughly. If you do that, you're pretty much guaranteed a passing grade on the tests. He has homework every week and that actually helps boost your grade. Go to beacon tutoring for extra credit and extra help on the material.
This professor was a great guy to talk to and joke with, but not a great professor. His lecture style was interesting the information was there; however, he didn't actually teach anything. It was more like he gave you the material and expected you to either understand it or fail at it. Didn't answer questions, rough grading, condescending.
Even though I was ESL student who came from overseas, I took CHEM 400 straight. It was pretty uncomfortable and tedious at the beginning but l got better. Brian lectures are amazing and easy to follow. He is pretty critical on lab reports but Exams are straight forward. He accommodate students by giving whole week for lab reports. Solid choice!
I loved taking this class! Your grade is really dependent on what you get on tests, there is quite a bit of homework that keeps you busy but also keeps you on top of the material. He is picky about lab reports and the points docked add up. But I really enjoyed his class and him as a professor. He is funny and pretty chill in labs
He is so unfair, I dropped his class because he was very unfair in grading he will not give you but 10% of the grade while I checked the exam paper of one of my colleagues and found the same answers and he gave her a full mark I asked him why he said a very lame inconvenient excuse and refused to give me my right.
Great professor. There are many things that you have to study and figure out to be successful, but he does care about your success as a student and is always willing to help.
His notes don't represent the exam so go to tutoring. He doesn't explain the experiments well, if you did it wrong you have to redo it, and he doesn't explain how to do calculations. Grade will be what you earned on your exams and the experiments. Probably only 5 people got A's out of the whole class (lots of ppl dropped). Take if have lots of time
Prof Weissbart is a pretty good professor. Attendance is mandatory. Tutoring was really encouraged and I found it very helpful.
Terrible online experience. lot of hw, very tough grader, will find something to mark you down for. requires way too much time, leaves a lot less time for other classes. In lecture, he goes really fast and doesn't explain where he's pulling these things from. seems as if he thinks u know everything, if not u teach it to yourself. Don't recommend.
He's very good at teaching people who know Chemistry. However, as a student, you probably don't know Chemistry. If you grill him and are persistent you can get everything you need out of him, but his lectures/explanations make leaps in logic, and assume you're very comfortable with past concepts. Decent at best, find someone better if you can.
Lectures are confusing unless you have a background in chem. He skims over concepts & expects you to already know it. tough grader on tests and labs. Tests were hard & he gave us the list of topics the class before the exam. He has you use ALEKS which I HATE and he doesn't test on all the topics. So much work can barely keep up in other classes):
Gave us a heavy load of work despite it being a difficult time (having to deal with online schooling transitioning due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Meticulous grader on lab reports; ALEKS + homework assignments are very tedious to get through every week. Exam 1 wasn't given enough time--majority of us didn't finish and he wasn't considerate about it.
I feel that the difficulty of this class is par for the course with a 5 unit class. What is most frustrating is the McGraw-Hill ALEKS assignment that is due each week! Often irrelevant or meaningless busy work that doesn't prepare students for exams or material discussed during lecture. Time is better spent in Beacon Tutoring or reading textbook.
He has live lectures and labs which helped a lot. He really cares and replys fast to all emails. theres a lot of work & hes not the best at taking good notes during lecture. If you are a good independent learner who appreciates tons of hmw points and mandatory attendance hes a good fit. Labs and lectures are recorded.
There was lots of work and labs. Lectures were confusing at times but he was accessible outside of class and responds fast to emails. Beacon tutoring also helped a lot.
If youve taken CHEM 305 or have some background in chemistry, this would be a great class for you. His lectures can get confusing because he explains in a way where you would have to already know how to do the problem, but hes always willing to help if you reach out after class. Homework, worksheets, and beacon tutoring will help a lot for exams.
Charismatic. It isn't enough to describe him. Lecture and Jeff do help a lot so go! He really cares about his students and don't be afraid to ask him questions. One of the most inspiring professors I have ever been taught by. I wish he taught CHEM401. Study the notes after and work hard on labs. -pookie
im taking 16 units currently and i barely have free time. i find myself rushing to do all of my hw. i have some background in chemistry but itd been awhile so DO NOT take if you dont have your fundamentals down like muscle memory. there's an insane amount of work every week and the actual class is a DRAG (3hr lab twice a week???) HUGE MISTAKE.
Weissbart is great, the lectures are clear and the labs are easy. The class in general is easy, but he assigns a lot of homework. His tests aren't hard if you study but you will miss at least a couple points. My advice is don't socialize during labs and you'll be out of there in an hour maximum most of the time.
When it comes to Brain, his lectures are not bad and in some cases, it gets confused. He's always there if you need help especially hours before a lab is due to clear up any confusion. The one con about Brain is the wording on the assignments. If you want to pass, go to Bran or Beacon for help, and I HIGHLY recommend asking Jeff for study material.
Not hard if you have a good background in chem. Just don't take too many other classes; make it your first priority if you want an A. My advice is ask for feedback on your lab before the due date and redo all the homework/worksheets for tests. The first 3 tests for my class, the average was an F, so that just tells you how much you need to study.
Professor Weissbart is an incredible professor who clearly cares about his students. In the lab classes especially, he cultivates a friendly open class culture, almost like a family. The exams in this class were not challenging as long as you paid attention and studied, and the course load was reasonable, although be prepared to spend time on it!
I took his class Spring of 2024 after failing Payne's chem course, his teaching wasn't for me. Prof Payne's teaching style required lots of self-study and Prof Weissbart was charismatic and made class and lab really fun and interesting. The exams of course are very difficult if you decide not to study.
Engaging lectures and helpful accommodations from Professor Weissbart. The class has a reasonable workload, but success requires focus and preparation. unstuckstudy proved invaluable for study prep alongside other resources.
His teaching style is honestly refreshing and super engaging. The course is quite difficult, thought most exams are based on the worksheets and homework problems, make sure to go over notes too. He replies to emails quickly, don't be afraid to ask questions. You can tell he really loves chemistry, just make sure you do the work!
Honestly the best Chemistry professor out there. He's very passionate and is always willing to help. His exams aren't terrible if you study. I'd recommend to focus on your worksheets and lectures as a study guide for your exam. He provides the topics that you need to study for each exam. Also offers extra credit if you go to Beacon. Take him!!!
WORST WORSTTT WORSTTTTT PROFESSOR THERE IS IN THE HISTORY OF PROFESSORS!!! He does not care about his students, he is always on his phone and talking about recipes. He assumes everyone is cheating and he'll even sus you out. He compares homework, experiments, even tests to see if there's anyone that has the same answers. terrible at teaching too.
I started off this class thinking it would go well, but very early on, I noticed the teacher's dislike of people of color. The only reason I got my grade was because I had to teach myself most of the material—he wasn't a good teacher. On top of that, he's rude, condescending, and it's obvious he's racist too. He's always on his phone too.
He is the BEST professor out there, always caring giving good feedback and loves chemistry. so understanding of your situation. don't believe those bad reviews, he so nice. very helpful during office hours answers any question, clear lectures. test is basically from worksheets. the course is hard and you can't blame the professor. you can get an A.
Clear and engaging lectures. Tests match the exam topics and lectures very well. Gives feedback on lab reports. Funny and gets along well with his students.
I don't know where to start but this is the worst professor i have ever taken. First off he's a r@cist and doesn't care about students feelings at all. I would recommend staying away from his classes if you're a person of color :)
this professor doesn't care about his students at all. he expects you to know everything coming into his class and makes you feel stupid for asking a question. he doesnt grade tests fairly, he will give one student full points on a question and another student half points for literally the same answer. DONT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL. SAVE YOUR TIME.
