The Great Professor. Gives a lot of examples of the types of writing one should expect. Encouraged individual thought. Tough on the grading. At the end of the class I was able to write well.

I agree with the other comments made on here. He rambles way too much. However, you will learn how to write! Give the "extra" effort and you'll do fine. (He allows you to revise your papers---that's fair.)Overall, he's a decent instructor.

dont take him in winter or summer. lots of work. i used to call him yogi bc he reminded me of yogi the bear. he gives good analogy's. helpful. like stated b4 if you dont have to take him then dont. teaching is his passion and his life even though he has a family. puts his work first so that means lots of writing.sometimes interesting but talks2much

Although I definitely wouldn't say he is easy... I wouldn't say he's hard either. He's very nice, super helpful, and lets you revise papers for a better grade as many times as you'd like. My boyfriend has trouble with english classes and he did wonderfully! If you put forth the effort then you cannot do badly in this class. Not for the lazy!!!

he is a kind man that talks about his family all the time. class can be boring at times but he grades easy and lets you revise. he can be weird at times but he makes english interesting and teaches well. you should take him.

I've taken him twice for 101 and 103. At first the workload seems intimidating, but he isn't super strict on deadlines and lets you turn in revised papers. The holiday feast was always fun at Thanksgiving! Good guy, and will take the time to help if you need it.

He is exelent professor. You will learn and be able to maintain a good grade. I recomend him; take this teacher, you will love this class.

Excellent professor! He will let you revise your papers to get a better grade. He is very helpfull and the lectures are clear and well organized. He is not so strict and will stretch deadlines to turn in late papers. Thanks Giving Potluck Party was fun. I highly recommend him.

Nice guys and helpful... talks a lot, and does not give breaks... sometimes he's of the subject, but he keeps it interesting... no tests, but a lot of writing and quizes...

Great teacher. I took an evening class with him which was one day a week about 3 hours, always let us out like 2 hours early. Easy grader. Can redo your essay as many time as you want.

I took Englishs 28 in Fall 2007 , and got a A finally .I think he is a good teacher but a lot of work are waiting for you to do.It is ok to be later and you can turn in your essay as many times as you can.Work hard and tell him that you are working on it and you will get a A.

he is a bright prof. he does have a work-book for this class wich is basically busy work but is mandatory. however he does help you improve both your writing and grammer skills. he is willing to "work" with grades for those students who show by their regular attendance and active partcipation in the class that they are dedicated to learning.

Alot of work in this class, so don't expect an easy ride. He keeps it interesting by various assignments, and is an extremely fair and understanding professor. And it's true... there is a Thanksgiving potluck =)

Lots of essays. Critical grader. I love to write and when he gave me a D on my first essay is when i started to challenge myself. Passes with As and Bs for the remaining ones. Made me try and work hard for a grade and in the process made my life easier for future classes. Def take this guy.. cares about what he does.

It was a pleasure having him as a teacher. I enjoyed every single one of his classes, and his work required is time consuming but possible. His grading is fair and gives you a chance of revising. I definitely recommend him!

The last comment is absolute bull. He lets you rewrite any of your papers, and usually, as long as you follow the instructions, you'll get a good grade. I don't think the user before tried hard enough (or even at all). I bet he was one of the students that rarely showed up. He is EXTREMELY helpful, I don't buy into "he failed me, I tried hard"

Mr. Yablon is the best English professor I've had. I am not a very god writer, but he allows you to re-write your papers after they are graded, whihc helps you get a better grade and work on your writing skills.

It was fun attending his class, he made it enjoyable and interesting! I learned a lot from him, I would highly recommend him.Five papers to write with no final exam. How cool is that? I also like the fact that holds patlak parties at the end of the semester. Good food hehehe...He is a good teacher over all..I got an A so i can't complain....

The sweetest teacher ever. He is a great professor,very clear in his explanations, but in the same way he is flexible with the way you are writing. He really cares about his students and wants you to learn and get confident when writing. I am definitely planning to take him again. If you get anything below a B' you just didn't try at ALL! There's no way a person can get a C' or below. You can turn in all your homework for the semester the very last day and still get an A'. Every paper I wrote, once getting it back I was able to re-write the paper and earn an A'. "YES ON YABLON!

Mr. Yablon is a very sweet teacher, he understands that it is very important to know each and ever child, personally, and that things that happen at home can affect you in school, and gives you the time, patiance, and understanding. Not only is he caring, but funny. He is truly my favorite teacher, and friend. :) -XR-A

The online class was pretty easy. There is a 3 page essay every 2 weeks and several discussions. He gives extra time for posts, extra credit assignments and is super nice! The only downside is that he is slow on grading and we didn’t know our grades until almost the third month. I have a feeling his face to face classes are much better.

Throughout summer, Professor Yablon was a sweet guy with a bubbly personality. I'd recommend him because he lets you rewrite essays which I did. He's very nice with time, so he accepts late work. I received an A in the class because I was always present and completed what was assigned. There were 5 essays and 1 assignment that counted as an essay.

Yablon is the best!! As someone mentioned earlier, if you get anything less than an A you weren't trying. We studied Chaucer, which is tough, but he made it as interesting as possible. Essay rewrites and flexible deadlines!

Yablon is a great professor. You can tell that he loves English and wants you to love it as well. He makes everything very easy: you can rewrite almost every essay to get a better grade, and he is fairly lenient with grading in general. If you pay attention and attend class, you shouldn't have any problems.

Yablon is a caring, invested and adept professor. He has high standards but often accepts rewrites.I wouldn't take this with rigorous classes though. I took it with Stats and German (all honors) and it was a grueling semester.Plan on taking it when you can devote time on your papers and you will come away with considerably improved writing skills.

I have taken Yablon for English 101 & 102. He is probably one of the nicest professors I've ever had. He is very patient and gives great advice. Always let's you fix your mistakes and gives you the opportunity to turn it back in for a higher grade! I highly recommend his class.

I give him an A+. He is super cool, helpful, realistic (with expectations), etc. I highly recommend him. The content of his classes weren't always exciting to me at first but when he started teaching the material I really enjoyed it. I'm an engineering major so I don't care too much for English but Prof Yablon introduced me to some cool material.

First of all the professor is very helpful if you need him to clarify any questions he's willing to help you. However, he's a slow grader you will not get your essay as fast as you expected and that somewhat make people including me upset, cause he will let you revise your work, yet he is not returning your essay on time.

He allows you to edit your papers and re-submit them.

I really enjoyed this class!!! It was a 5 wk class for Winter & we only had 4 essays. I didn't get any lower than a B on them but allows u to revise for a higher grade! Loved that. He talks a lot, makes u read but it's helpful. Class usually ends 1 hour early :) He posts all handoutsnotes online for you! Helpful & wants students to succeed!!!

He teaches one class each semester and doesn't have a reader so he reads everything himself which takes longer for him. Hard but fair grader and lets you revise!

Professor Yablon is an exceptional professor. I wrote about five essays throughout the semester. He assigns take home exams for the midterm and final. This class requires plenty of reading, but what else could you expect from an English 102 class. Everything is very doable. He is extremely nice. I loved his class.

I took English 28 online during the summer session. I really enjoyed taking the class, Proessor Yablon made the class very interesting. He did give a good amount of work, however he gave plenty of time to complete the work. I would recommend people taking his class.

I took Professor Yablon's English 101 class online. He is super kind and cares about his students passing. He allows you to "fix" your essays. He is very detailed and concise. You must carefully read his instructions. If you do, you will do just fine in his class. He's got a great sense of humor as well.

I actually took this class at Ventura College last semester (Yablon taught an evening class there), and I looked forward to class with this professor, which is rare for me. I am actually studying Computer Science so English isn't exactly my favored subject, but professor Yablon conducted an invigorating class. I highly recommend you take his class.

Yablon is like no other English professor I've ever had before. He is incredibly kind and gentle. I'm a very anxious and shy person but i had no trouble approaching him when i needed to. The way he speaks is very soft yet engaging, I'd say it has a feel somewhat similar to Neil Degrasse Tyson. I never felt bored and it was a four hour class!

Took it in 7 weeks. Little amount of assignment but you need to put in effort. Appreciates a story and message w/in your papers rather than content. Online wasn't bad just make time for it. He's really nice you can tell he cares because he's always open to help you. He was a little intimidating for me, but everyone else found it easy to talk to him

Professor Yablon is the absolute best! He was inspirational, he found a way bring out out my creative writing, and he was just down right fun to interact with. There is A LOT of interaction required, but it's worth it. There's also a lot of reading, but it's enjoyable. I wish all professors were like him!

The best professor I have ever had. He is an amazing professor. Even though it was an online class, but he was always in his office to help us. His lectures were clear and interesting. No stress He takes care of his students. You just need to study. Valley College needs more professors like Brian Yablon. I would take another class with him.

Prof Yablon is the best professor I have had at LAVC! He is so passionate, kind, and motivating. Basically everything you could ask for in a teacher and more. His assignments are so interesting and he grades very fairly and clearly! Wish i took him in person instead of online he honestly is one of the best professors in this world. TAKE HIM!!!

I highly recommend this guy! He really has a sense of understanding for his students! He gives the opportunity for you to revise your papers and quizzes. This professor is an extremely tough grader however, if you review the modules on the syllabus and you pay attention to his lecture, you shouldn't have a problem.

Take any of his classes! He is not an easy A though. You're going to have to work for it, but he is a very caring professor, he will help you on improving your essays if needed and give you positive feedback (even when he is correcting some of your issues) you wont regret taking his class!

I highly recommend you take English 101 with professor Yablon. The class was not difficult, but you can easily fall behind if you lack time management skills. There are four major essays you will have to submit; narrative, exemplification, literary analysis and a research paper. All assignments are due by end of the of the semester.

Prof. Yablon is a really caring guy. As long as you do the work and actually try, you will get an easy A. There are no deadlines for the assignments and he gives you until the end of the semester to turn in any late work you missed. Just don't procrastinate and you should be fine. There is ALOT of reading and essays though, but overall it was good.

Professor Yablon is a really great teacher that only wants the best for his students. I took his online class 8 week class and it was fairly easy but a very time consuming class. If you can manage time well and put a decent amount of effort this class is worth taking.

He also includes a lot of extra and optional material that help folks write the best possible papers. Very kind, and offers lots of extra credit opportunities. Grateful for my experience!
