Bridgette was awesome, couldn't have asked for a better speech teacher.

I took Bridgette my first semester at JJC for speech. I do believe she is not a hard teacher as much as she wants her class to be somewhere where you actually learn and not just use it as a blow off class. I believe Public Speaking is extremely nerve racking and it is something you will do again and again througout life. She does a great job!!

B.Nickel is passionate about her teaching. She works hard to make sure ALL are comfortable in class. Like her ideas of workshops in class to prepare speeches. Rules are clear in syl.-she sticks to them. Pay attention in class & you'll have NO PROBLEMS. She states what policies are dept.& hers. Work returned next class w/insightful comments. AWESOME

I am just finishing a summer class. It is a lot of work to put in a 6 week class. You can tell Mrs. Nickle likes what she does. She really doesn't mind helping us. Her tests are open note so pay attention in class to lecture and do the readings. A lot to read but that is just the book. I would take her again any day!

Bridget Nickel is one of the best teachers of speech I have ever had in my entire educational career. She is a breath of fresh air and provides nevertheless insightful comments for feedback and she makes speaking fun. She'll totally kill any nervous conceptions you may have and she really embraces the idea of peer-to-peer support. TAKE HER!!!

She has you do notes in the book and as long as you take them from the book she basically covers what you wrote down. Shes very personal but she has rules like if your not there for someone elses speech you get points off but if you have a legitimate reason dont worry. She lets you use your notes and book on quizs and only notes on tests. Easy A!

i took speech 101 this summer,08.i am scared to stand in front of people to make a speech and also because i am from a diffrent country.Nickel helped all her students get thru their fears.she is fair to all students no matter ur race.U can use ur note and textbook for test and exam.Follow her directions and u will have an easy A.

Ms. Nickel is one of the best teachers I've had. She really makes the classroom as comfortable as possible for people to battle speaking fears. Syllabus is followed for all students. Very fair and fun. She is one of the few teachers left who shows passion about what she is teaching.

Bridget is the best lecture at JJC. She has time for the students and she is always there for us. She normally responds to her emails promptly. She is fantasic.

bridgey is one of the best teachers I've ever had. she said first class "I know public speaking is hard on everyone, I'm not making it any harder then it has to be" and she stuck to it! pay attention and follow her guidelines and you'll do great. very understanding and realistic expectations. Nickel is an good teacher, she is fun and approachable. I don't think she asks too much of her students. She clearly states what you need to do and if you do that you're set. All the students who told me she was a bad teacher are just poor students who never put the work in, which is probably why they thought so.

Nickel is a really good teacher. She asks for feedback on class and when there is homework, it's to write your outline for your speech or study for a test (we had 3). She understands that basically everyone is taking this class to get it over with and people don't like public speaking. Don't buy the book. Use the one in the library to save money.

I am writing this to warn you all not about the speeches or work itself, but the professor herself. She is EXTREMELY patronizing, can be rude, and will often insult your intelligence. If you are someone who has anxiety, do not take her class. There is nothing worse than a professor who talks down to you as if you are beneath them.100% wouldnt take.

Very good teacher

Seems like some people missed the mark from posts below. Prolly not serious students. I'm back in school & Prof Nickel works hard so students feel support & comfortable. Guide sheets given she walks u thru it all. Totally approachable. Prepares us for real-world & other classes too! Tells exactly what she expects & I'd take her again in a hearbeat!

I was petrified to take this course because I hate speeches. Miss. B puts it all into perspective. I'd ask for help and she always made time to help me. Tests are tough but it's from class discussions and handouts. Class Experiences and examples actually relate to my work and real life stuff. We did work but I learned a lot. Good teacher take her.

One thing I liked was her patience as a teacher. She's nice & never got out of composure even tho some didn't pay attention & asked same questions. She made us answer. Takes her time when we don't get something so we get the concept she's trying to put across. She makes students own the way they act & work so they know you earn your own grade.

Ms. B believed in me when I gave up. She took time out of office hours to help me . She taught me something and I'm glad I took her. Giving speeches are hard but she like gives you all the directions and makes class comfortable and supportive. Thanks.

I would take another course with Professor Nickle because she shares examples to help us learn for jobs. I wish more Professors cared about our future like she does. She personally helped me when I was nervous to give a speech even after office hours ended. I got a lot of feedback. She expects you to work & take notes bc it's on the test!

I was very nervous at first to take speech but she gave me a talking to to help me out during the semester that changed my view on speech if it wasn't for the talk she gave me I wouldn't have finished with flying colors like I did, she really is a great teacher and is very helpful whenever you need it, I'm glad I had her as a speech teacher

Took over the summer. I loved Bridget! At first she might seem very in your face, but she's so kind and loves teaching. She changes her teaching style based on her students preference. Very approachable and willing to help with rough drafts. She gets to know her students and makes class relatable. Not boring at all. Speeches were very interesting.

Prof. Nickel was one of my absolute favorite professors. She knows what she is doing, she will help you and the class when needed, and really knows how to bring the class together. She made doing speeches not as bad as they seem and i would take her again in a heart beat.

I loved her!! She can seem intimidating at first, but rest assured she is one of a kind. Not only does she set an atmosphere that makes giving speeches MUCH less nerve-wracking, but she also puts so much effort into helping you better yourself as a speaker and person. Gives exceptional feedback, and is one of my favorite professors by far.

Bridget was one of the best teachers I ever had. He lectures are easy to follow and she gives a lot of good information. She really cares about her students, too. If you ever need help or just someone to talk to, she's there for you. Take good notes because everything she writes on the board is on her test. She couldn't have made it any simpler

Great Prof at JJC. She is Kind, funny, caring. She wants u to do well so u can be ready at work, in other classes, in relationships. She even helped me in the evening a couple times when I was confused. She called me at home to help me bc of my schedule & she didn't have to. Just ask for help if u need it. Take good notes in class for tests.

I NEVER thought I would finish this class. I am terrified even reading in front of others. I couldn't believe I did it and I owe it to Professor Bridget. She cares about helping you and wanting you to do good. She expects work & tough grader but follow her guide and notes and do activities and stuff in class she will help you. Great Prof

I love Bridget! She's willing to help you whenever it's needed. If you do everything you're suppose to and don't slack off, you can get an A. I was SO scared to do my speeches, I would shake at the thought of them, now it's second nature to me.

Literally the best teacher you could possibly have for speech? She's the most understanding professor you could possibly have and she really helps you become one with your speeches. I can't explain how much she helped the kids in my class who cried through their speeches to finish the semester strong.

I was happy with this class because Professor B helped me every step of the way. I knew I would learn something in class and I did. She helped me feel good about myself and more confident speaking. Instructor like this dont think twice about giving her best to each and every student.

I'm happy bc I just got my grade and never did I think I would finish this class I was so scared. Professor Nickle helps students in her class. She is clear on what she expects and she listens and is more than fair. She does make time for students too. Take her! She tells the class what she wants so if you don't do the work that is on the student.

truly an amazing teacher, if you are thinking about taking any other comm teacher, dont!! i never thought i would be able to pass this class but with all of bridgets help it was an east A, she is super caring and loves to talk about her kids. she is always there if you need help with anything too. take her!!

Love Bridget. Definitely recommended for those scared to take speech. She made it so easy and taught awesome real life techniques for speaking professionally.

Very accommodating if you miss a class. Lays out exactly what is expected on each speech. She made the class interesting rather than just lecturing the entire time.

She is friendly and makes it clear she is there to help students and help us pass. Its a college course and we are responsible for working but shell go out of her way to help students. She is instructor I had that shows us she actually cares. I would take another course with her.

I am gonna be real here. I disagree with anything less than AWESOME! Miss. B really likes what she does. Every day cant be a party because we have to work. She goes through the work with you even if you dont understand shell repeat it so we do understand. I never thought I could give a speech and Miss. B got me through. She was a mentor to me.

She is truly amazing. She gives clear grading expectations and goes over criteria clearly. She is super understanding shall anything tragic happen to you. Shes one of the best teachers jjc has to offer.

The best professor I have had so far

I took her for a 6 week summer section and I can say is one of the best teachers ive had in a long time. during the first couple of day she asked students how they learn best and she would adapt those skill in her teaching. Every day after class she usually asked if she did good explain or during lessons she would make sure you understand.

AWESOME FUNNY SUPER SMART INSPIRATIONAL

I took this class in summer. It definitely helped me to improve my speaking skills. Also, Miss B is the best teacher I've ever had in college. Miss B makes the class enjoyable. There are a few rude comments about professor B but you'll prove I am right once you attend class. She is super funny, smart!!!! Take your speech class with her!!

She is an AWESOME teacher, not many teachers are as cool and nice as she is. She is very helpful and if you need her help with anything she is always there for you. I would definitely take her again for speech. Not many teachers are like her!

Was absolutely terrified for this class and she made so much better. Extremely caring and nice. Her tests are a little hard but she tells you exactly what needs to be on every speech. Highly recommend!

OMG!!! She is amazing!! She helped me get out of my comfort zone. She will ask for your freed back and gives out great feed back. She is very funny! She will give you time in class to work on your speeches. If she thinks your bored she'll do other thing to make sure the lecture is entertaining. If you take this class you'll never be bored.

Bridget is truly a great teacher! She is super caring and funny lectures arent terribly boring.

Excellent professor to work with

Overall a great teacher! Not a lot of homework, mostly just reading chapters in the book. In Communications 101 you will take two tests and present 4 speeches, the fourth speech is the final exam. Professor Nickel really cares about her students and will accommodate to everyones needs.

Bridget was an awesome professor. She cares about all her students and is there for them in any way that she can be. She is a fair grader and makes sure that everyone does their best work. We read a few chapters out of the book, but it was not essential for the class. She makes everyone feel comfortable and important. I loved Ms. Bridget's class.

Bridget was great. It is easy to see that she cares about her students. There are activities in class you need to be there for because theyre worth points. This is done so students understand whats being taught. She interacts with students and is very fair. She is also willing to work with you outside of class. Overall great professor.

Professor Nickle is my favorite. She relates to the class and is caring. She makes work count and doesnt give work to keep you busy. We used the book a little just to read though. She gives expectations and helps you work to reach them. Shes also a good listener.

Would totally take Miss. B again. Gives awesome talks, funny, likes her job. She knows her stuff. The speeches are work but you get what you put in to it. Thumbs up Miss. B!

Shes awesome! You can tell that she loves her job and cares for her students. She always makes you feel comfortable even if you're nervous. She tells you exactly what you need to do and even walks through the handout describing expectations of each speech. Follow directions and get an A. Minimal reading. Use book in library instead of buying.

SUCH an amazing teacher!! I was beyond terrified for this class but her vibes helped me relax and focus. basically no homework besides typing out your outlines, follow guidelines and you'll do great

Loved her!! She's SO understanding about students' apprehension for speeches and grades fairly as long as you make an effort. She pays special attention to making sure her lectures are easy to follow by using a few different teaching styles into notes and such, and speaks like she really cares about what she's teaching so paying attention is easy.

I loved taking Professor B, taking this class with her makes giving your speeches not scary at all as you get to know everyone and she is caring. Hardly any homework, book was barely used (use the one in the library), and her teaching style is great. However, turn in assignments on time or you will get a 0, attend class or you'll miss a lot of info

She thoroughly explains course material and requirements for speeches to help you succeed in this class. She also made speech class enjoyable to make me want to learn and to come to class. You will pass if you put in the effort to both your speeches and study guides for tests. Thank-you so much for being a very nice professor, Professor Nickel!

took this class over a summer 6-week course, went through a lot of information in such a short time but if you attend every class it will help a lot. Nickel was very funny and gave us a lot of good examples to overcome the fear of public speaking. I recommend and would take her as a professor again if needed.

The casual setting of her classroom helped make speeches not only easy to deliver, but fun. She is an awesome person and I was very happy to take her class!

She was such a sweet person and professor. She made speech fun and enjoyable! Just make sure you do all your speeches, pay attention, show up for your speeches, study for your tests, and do not procrastinate!

I really enjoyed having her as a teacher. She is always so kind and helps you whenever you need it, is always answering her emails, and overall a great person. If you want an easy-going teacher this one is for you. she doesn't grade too hard but expects you to do your best. I highly recommend choosing her to be your teacher.

Professor Nickel was a leader in my opinion. The course is organized by modules with an overview so you know what to do during the week. Every time I emailed her she responded within a day and answered my questions. She met with me when I needed her help. All of the material was useful and I learned a lot.

Professor Nickel made the process of the class go by smoothly. I liked her lectures with videos she made for us. They are helpful. I dreaded this class but it turned out to be the most enjoyable one.

Profesor B was all around a great teacher! She was very responsive even during such hectic times. She made sure to let us know specifically what she was looking for. As long as you kept up with the readings and completed your speeches the class was a good experience. She put a lot of thought into her feedback and communicates with the class

I took this class as an online course and was extremely nervous going into it because I absolutely hate public speaking. The way that she has the whole semester planned out was very detail oriented and easy to follow along with each week. She is definitely the most understanding professor I have ever had! Positive feedback always!! 10/10 recommend

She has to be the sweetest and most understanding professor I have had. She made the most out of Covid circumstances and still attempted to get to know students even though it was tough to do so. I didn't feel like a number. She gives a lot of positive feedback and encouragement.

I really enjoyed Professor Nickel! I was completely intimidated when I began the course but I'm so glad I saw it through. She is so kind and gives such great feedback. She does a great job of organizing the class and gives fun, interesting homework assignments. I also learned to love public speaking in the process. Loved this class!

Professor B was definitely a tough grader but I still would recommend her. She makes you dig a little deeper and really think outside the box. This is not an easy-breezy class that you can just skim by in. You actually have to put in the work. Follow directions and turn in your assignments on time and you'll do great!

I didnt want to take this course because I get freaked out speaking in front of people but I actually learned a lot in this class. Professor B through the computer makes you feel comfortable and encourages you. She gives great tips to do good in class. I would definitely take her again.

Professor Bridget Nickels, online communications 101 class was easily understood. she got back to you in a timely manner and grading is fair. lots of resources available to you and overall a great semester with her!

Professor Nickel was remarkable. She understood when I had life obligations and gave me grace in learning how to access the online materials. She offers extra credit and doesn't look down upon students at all. She is so kind and my only wish is that I could have taken her class in person rather than 100% online!

I loved her class, it was so easy and I took it online. I wish I would have taken it in person but wasn't allowed at the time in Covid. Very easy grader you just have to submit everything in and try. The speeches we had to do were not hard at all just took time to write. Great class!

I took Professor Nickel's online class for the summer. This class was easy and all you really had to do was put in the effort and turn in assignments on time. Professor Nickel also had great response times to her emails. I do think though if you are going to take the online class be prepared to put in more work than someone who is in person.

Professor Nickel is an amazing teacher, she was super understanding of difficult situations that came up throughout the semester and was extremely accommodating. Her instructions are clear and she is not a tough grader as long as you put in genuine effort and display some sort of interest in the class. If I could have her again I would.

A lovely teacher and cares about her students and always gave great and gentle feedback even if it was through I-Campus or email. Her assignments and work were easy to comprehend and straightforward. Awesome that she would make time out of class to work with you. I would take her again.

The assignments given are short and easy, but she expects your responses to be by the book response. She will give bad grades to people who do not do this. (I did not use the book, I did okay. Just be aware.) The speeches are easy. DO GOOD ON THE OUTLINE! Even if you mess up on your speech you will get a good grade, she doesn't watch the speech.

I highly recommend Nickel for COMM 101. The expectations were clearly laid out for each speech, and she graded very kindly. Nickel understood that public speaking comes with a lot of anxiety and did a great job accommodating this. I was nervous to take this class but she was the best professor for it!

I say take this professor. I struggled with the course but when I reached out to her for help she met with me and took her time helping me. She helped me get through this course. I am thankful to her for helping me when she didn't have to. Very friendly and kind and I am glad I took her course.

Professor Nickel sets clear expectations and provides great feedback. Though the course can be challenging, she is accommodating and available to help. Using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook helped me prepare well for the speeches.
