Tells you what she wants you to write on essays or discussion board and gives a lot of feedback on drafts before turning in real draft.

Every week there will be a discussion board where you will write a couple paragraphs and respond to two others. 2 exams: midterm is an essay, final is multiple choice plus short response. This class is HEAVY on writing, so be prepared. I'm not very good at it, but if you don't procrastinate and stay on time, you will get an A.

This class was tough. While I received an A in the course, I had to work with it. The class starts out easy with basic understanding of myths. As the course goes on, the assignments dive into critical thinking and analysis, with peer feedback. If you are an emotional/artful thinker, the class should be easy. Rational thinkers, it'll be tough.

Prof Pool was a very challenging and realistic professor. I felt challenged by the work and I came out a stronger writer. She is understanding and very fair in her grading and expectations. She is an engaging and knowledgeable teacher. I hope to be able to take a class from her in the future.

Professor Pool was a real pleasure to have as a professor. She truly cares about her students and wants them to do well. She will give the stand homework, great feedback, and constructive criticism. She gives extremely interesting lectures and likes to host debates on controversial topics so be ready to debate in class.

Professor Pool was understanding of students with other obligations and had assignments with reasonable due dates and work loads. As long as you attend class and give like 50% of your attention you should pass. Very nice and fun professor, definitely take her!!

Pretty straightforward as an English class. As long as you keep up with assignments and use the professor's feedback, you will get an A. Attendance is mandatory! There is a lot of homework though, so expect to write a lot lol

professor pool keeps classwork and homework very organized... English isn't my favorite subject but professor pool really helped me out and made class really fun and interesting... get prepared to work but also be prepared to have fun and really enjoy class.

Seems like a lot of work at first but don't get scared, she is a very nice teacher try your best and she will work with you make sure to keep up with all your assignments or you will fall behind

I believe no matter which class you gonna take, you will never go wrong with this professor. She is the only professor that I haven't seen in the real-life, but the Zoom meeting screen will never block her kindness. She is such an easygoing professor. Professor pool is a great English teacher! She gives feedback and give you change to rewrite your paper most of the time. Her class is kind of fun because the topics she teach are related to everyday life and it is easy to understand. I highly recommend her!

She is awesome and very helpful. If you do all of your homework, she is wonderful. She is very carrying professor and care about all of her students. If I find another course that I can take class with her, I will do it. I will wish all the best for her. I had zoom class with her, but she was available to answer my question any time.

In class writing almost every class (towards the beginning of the semester), or given as homework. 3 big Essays you meet for one-on-one meetings with her to discuss and she gives AMAZING feedback. I took survey of African American literature with Prof. Pool and it was such a good experience. We never met on Zoom so it was discussion post and essay heavy so get ready to read and write. I believe the work is worth it because the course itself is very eye opening. I really enjoyed it :)

(African American literature class) Lots of short writing assignments, and a few longer essays. The rest of the class was discussion-based. Prof. Pool is very understanding, but she's no pushover. She respects the students and the subject matter, and was a total sweetheart. She really cares about her students and loves teaching. Take her class!

Take this class if you want to improve your GPA but make sure you do every assignment. Professor Pool is really kind and caring and makes the class very interesting. She is really nice and caring, by far the best English professor I've had at NOVA. She does give a lot of work but it's very easy and is a nice grader.

Prof Pool is a great professor. Class is structured and organized. Assignments have clear instructions. She provides outlines and examples for every assignment. The only downside to this class is the amount of reading and work. On average you must read about 80 pages and do 2 300-word response a week. Every class you will have to discuss readings

Many short-writing assignments along with two big essays (final paper and final exam - a reflection paper) for this class. Mostly in-class discussions. Overall, an effective professor!

I took Professor Pool's class completely online asynchronously and I can honestly say it was a great experience. There are 4 major papers, a midterm exam and a final exam. The professor was great with feedback on papers and made it clear what you had to fix on your rough draft in order to get a good grade. Overall easy A if you put a little effort.

Professor Pool was a great professor overall. Being such a basic course, I appreciated how she kept the work load manageable and also liked how she encouraged feedback and creativity on the assignments. I felt that she was there to help us, and she proactively checked in on us and welcomed questions. Overall, it was a fair and manageable course.

Prof Pool is a fantastic educator. She loves to engage with the class and give everyone a chance to express themselves. The reading & writing assignments are heavy, but if you talk to her about it respectfully, she is open to lightening the work load. She expects you to put real effort into your assignments. Not an easy A, but a really fun class.

I am still enrolled in this class, its about a month into it. I absolutely love her! Feedback is great, not a lot of work. She accepts late work for full credit.. just email her about your situation. She's super understanding! There are only a few major papers as well. She really cares about bettering your understanding of reading and writing.

Take her class don't be a bozo she is amazing you can't fail this class its easy just stay on top of your work and the work isn't that bad it's straight forward and easier than other classes. honestly if i could id keep takin g her all my years of nova 10/10 wont miss

I loved this class. The professor is really nice and her assignments are very straightforward, if you do the readings and complete the simple weekly assignments you'll get an A.

Professor Pool's class has been my favorite class I've ever taken at any institution. She requires you do read a lot, but the readings are fun and eye opening. She is very caring and is willing to give extra time on assignments if you ask. Participation is key in this class and attendance with cameras on is mandatory.

She is so kind and accommodating, she's an easy grader and the workload is light. I wish I could take her every year. She is probably the BEST English teacher I've ever had! She is very clear with her instructions & grading criteria. She is VERY understanding of each student's circumstances. If you keep up communication with her, she goes as far as allowing leeway for assignments! I'm a full-time college student & SAHM and she made this class a breeze!! Take her!

This is one of the best English professor I've ever had. Her lessons are so useful for major assignments (3 major assignments through the course). She creates smaller assignments that will help you complete your major assignment. Once closer to the due date she creates appointments to get personalized feedback which is so useful. TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!

Professor Pool was so awesome. She had the class very involved, and we would lose track on time and before we know it would end. I had fun with homework readings and there were only 2 essays that counted as midterm and final. She was very patient and understanding, gives extensions for readings. Do not use AI to help you because she will catch on.

This proffessor was amazing! She gives great feedback, is very understanding, and overall is an easy grader. Be prepaired to read a lot.

I took ENG275 during the summer (Women's Literature). Professor Pool is lovely! She is a great listener and very understanding (you have to tell her beforehand if anything happens or she won't grade it). There is three readings, they are not super extensive, and you have to do a journal of 300+ words every week, and a discussion post after class.

I really enjoyed profs class. She created a very welcoming environment despite it being online. All assignments are pass/fail, it's not that hard once you understand what she's looking for. If your confused you can just ask her. Overall I'd definitely recommend taking her class.

I took her ENG 275 with her through zoom but it was not difficult. She does have homework every week and requires you to participate in class but honestly she makes you feel so comfortable that you don't dread participating. Her grading system is different but as long as you complete all your hw you will pass. I really recommend her!

Professor Pool is an amazing teacher and person. She created a clear outline of the class and sets reasonable expectations. A lot of the topics covered are emotional and I have to give her all the credit for creating an environment that is respectful, compassionate, and allows for expression and meaningful interaction with texts and classmates.

Professor Pool is a very engaging, lenient, and fun professor. I took ENG 111 and she made sure to reach out any time I was behind on an assignment. She had many individual conferences to talk about any questions I had and how I was doing. Would 100% take her again but her classes next semester do not align with my schedule unfortunately.

Take Professor Pool if you don't mind her political views. She give good grades - easy A or B. She veru busy with politics

Professor Pool has an amazing and lively personality. She is very understanding and gives great help in one-on-one. Issues include the heavy workload as if this is the only class, no percentage or number grading in the class and only checkmarks and exes.
