HER TEST QUESTION'S WERE NOT CLEAR AND YOU COULDN'T SEE YOUR TEST RESULTS TO SEE WHICH ONES YOU GOT WRONG.
This instructor is awesome! I would definitely recommend her to other students!
Assignments are clear. Weekly exams are fairly easy if you read and go over her Powerpoints. You can use book and printed notes for the exams.
Online. Was an okay class. A few videos. Required a couple movies to watch and a book to read outside of the textbook. They were related, but it seemed like she was pulling every trick out of her hat. Also, I had to email her once and it was like pulling teeth to get her to help with a simple issue.
Online class crammed in 7 weeks. No good. It is too much material to cover and stay on top of. I ended up with a B. If you have a light load, her class is easy. I was taking 18 credit hours, so it was difficult.
This is an easy class. I would expect the average high school sophomore to have no problem succeeding. The only thing you have to remember is to not interact with the instructor. She is not capable of basic cognitive functions and lacks an ability to be objective. If you are looking for mind numbing credits, this is the class for you.
If you want to do well in this class you MUST read the book. I took the class online and it was not very difficult but you will NOT receive a decent grade if you do not read the text book. The teacher was fun and seemed really interested in the students opinions, even if they are different from her own views. I would definitely recommend her!
Online Class, lot of reading. Exams were all about the readings. 2-3 chapters per week. Kind of demanding, but not difficult
Course was ok. Instructor was fair, in that most of the grading came in the form of tests, which are comprised of questions from the textbook. The questions were not always clear, and several times I had to email the instructor to argue a test question. I would end up getting most of the points I argued for, but the hassle was annoying.
Instructor was helpful and present throughout the course. She uses the discussion board as a means to communicate with the class, which helps so that students can view questions about the course that other students have posted. Tests rely heavily on the textbook, and there are small assignments due throughout the course.
USE THE BOOK!! Online course, fairly easy. I liked the powerpoint presentations with voice...
two classes with her and I wish I could take her all the time....She understands it is an online class. she likes to interact with her class. she has this cool assignment were u raise a virtual child. keep up on stuff and there should not be a problem.
She requires a lot of work but if you keep up on it then no problem. I do not always read the book and I still get an A. I like that she has a lot of options to bringing up your grade... the quizzes I would get B's-A's bc I would not read all the time but if you do everything else you will get a good grade. she loves interaction. makes it fun.
Great prof. The class is a lot of reading online, however there is no textbook to buy (7 week). The exams are tough if you only skim over them so take notes. She is very responsive to e-mails. All-in-all great class.
Great professor! You won't be disappointed. Clear and laid out syllabus. I have taken several FAS classes from her and all have been well worth my time.
7 week online class. EASY. A lot of busy work every week but as long as you keep up with it then it shouldn't be bad. 2 posts each week. 1 exam each week. Never did the readings and got Bs and Cs on all exams and As on all of my posts. 1 paper. Set up of course is nice and organized. She is really helpful.
Easy class, just read the assigned chapters, do the discussion posts and you'll get a decent grade. An A in her class is also a 92.5 so pretty obtainable.
Took the class online. 7 Tests...each 30 questions and timed for 1 hour. Discussion board questions were easy. The tests were difficult. You can't go back to see what you got wrong. Answers you thought were right were actually not. The workload was fair and her TA graded everything fair. Our essay was a bit unclear though. I'd recommend the class.
It was not the easiest class. There is a lot of reading 4 chapters a week. The discussion questions are not hard, the tests are hard though. The wording is confusing, there were some where it could possibly be two answers. She is pretty tough, I would not recommend it as a filler class.
took it online, 7 wk course, based everything on readings, every week db, easy grader! got an a-.
Assignments and DF posts were graded no later than 2 week after the due date in a 7 week class. There were 7 of them. Point totals in the class were always changing...based on how she felt throughout the month. The syllabus is King but it is also a work in progress.
I've taken 4 (soon to be 5) classes with this professor. Expectations are clearly defined. Assignments are relatively easy considering the condensed online format.
Online class. extremely helpful and very clear on assignments. I would highly recommend her for future classes.
I love this teacher! I took her online class that was cut in half. I got an A! Interesting discussion post and two super short assignments. One exam per week, all her exams were based off the textbook. I did not watch any lecture videos. I recommend her!
7 week course. she was very clear in what she expects. easy class, the two discussion boards are slightly annoying because you have to respond to other students and keep track of deadlines but they are graded very easily. Easy to get an A. Taking another class with her next semester
Syllabus is almost a million pages long, but since it was an online class, that was very helpful. She reminds you every week when assignments are due - also awesome. Had about 6 discussion posts and a test due every single week. No chance in hell she'll help you if you're one point away from a grade. Do not contact her for anything - not helpful
long syllabus, but she is super friendly and her lectures are very complete. tests were straightforward and easy to relate to the text. she is very helpful if you run into confusion, and is engaged in teaching this online class. she is by far one of the better online instructors i've had and i highly recommend her.
I took the online summer course. Exams are a breeze. Read the book and you will make an A. Toughest part is the discussion posts. 1 post and 2 responses per week. Everyone posts the same thing over and over. Its tough to come up with anything interesting TWICE. Overall great class and definitely recommend.
Just answer discussion board questions about the topic to your classmates and read all the articles. they appear on the test, which is super easy, but articles are a bit long. She's nice!
snooze fest. i took this class online. it's even my major. this class was beyond boring. no lectures. little instructor interaction. the text was incredibly dry and one text read like a self help book. discussion forums are easy points, but get repetitive. tests were difficult bc text was difficult to get into.
This instructor, shares her personal experiences, helps you understand better, no textbook in this class, but plenty of reading. Take good notes and you should get an A. Her exams are straight forward, from your readings and videos' no tricky style exams like from others
2 discussion posts/week(400 word count) and 2 responses per DP(200 count/ea). The subjects are very interesting so its not hard to match word count, but is time consuming. One assignment, it's VERY vague. If you email her, be prepared to get a vague response that isn't helpful at all! Most info is spelled out on syllabus, follow that = A.
Took online - two discussion forums a week + responses - pretty easy to get word count, but seems to take forever. Tests are open note/book. Follow the syllabus and you'll get an A. I will be taking more of her classes in the future.
She really isnt helpful when you email her questions. It doesnt seem like she teaches or grades anything herself either. The TA's do most of it. Also, her tests seemed to have a lot of problems and were extremely hard. Way harder than it needed to be. I did not enjoy her class at all.
This class was pretty easy,Instructor uses her own family to help get points across. Tests are mostly right out of the book, and is pretty straight forward with expectations, typical, 7 weeks 7 tests, give extra points for donations. Overall a great teacher.
I took the online summer course. Exams are a breeze! Read the book and you will make an A. The toughest part is the discussion posts. 1 post of 400+ words and 2 responses of 100+ words per week. Everyone posts the same thing over and over and some of the topics are really boring to write about.
Loved Bridget Seeley! It was a 7 week course, which means it's super fast! In order to succeed in her course, READ READ READ!!! The exams are about 45 minutes, which is not enough time to skim through the book. 2 assignments each week, super easy, and a writing assignment towards the end. LOVED THE COURSE!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!!
Anyone can get an A in this class, 2 DF per week 500 words w/ 2 responses 100 words and one outside source per DF. time consuming but not that hard. and 2 Assignments. refer to the syllabus it will help you!! one book is SUPER hard to get so find out textbook info in advance if you can. Watch out for deadlines I missed one and got a B because of it
Didnt not like her at all-- @ books to read from-online course--so much to get done in 5 days--NO WAY
One of the best professors I've had. Easy to work with and presents fascinating course material. The final poster project was a fun departure from boring research papers.
Great course with interesting information. Weekly exam and discussion board and one final writing assignment. Loved the professor and structure of the course! I received an A but definitely had to work for it
2 discussion posts and 1 quiz per week, but I took the section B course. As long as you have the books everything is a piece of cake! She emails every week to make sure you know what is due, and offers EC.
Dr. Seeley is a wonderful professor! She is clear with her expectations and the course materials. She treats you like an adult and expects the same. I received an A, but I definitely had to work for it. Tough but very fair, do the required assignments on time and you will do just fine. Glad I was able to take her course!
The discussions were a bit lengthy, 400 words per post. Three required posts per week, 1 original and 2 responses to classmates. The quizes were a little difficult for me, and she uses ExamGuard. 1 hour to answer 30 multiple choice/True False questions, so make sure you read the chapters - I did not, but wished I did. Electronic copy of book helps.
Took 7.5 week course & really enjoyed it. Professor was clear about all assignments and expectations. Offers an extra credit opportunity for donating to a nonprofit organization. 1 test, discussion board & extremely simple 5 question assignment per week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Dr. Seeley was a great professor! As long as you read the text book and do the DB posts, you will do well. She is very clearly passionate about what she does and offers her students lots of advise. Her policies and expectations are clear from the beginning, which I loved. I will be taking classes with her again!
I love Dr. Seeley!! She is always so interested in what she teaches. This course isn't particularly difficult but it isn't easy either. Two discussion forums per week, 400 words, 2 responses per DF, 100 words, and test over two chapters of the textbook. There are two books for the class but you don't need to read much out of EI. Love this teacher!
Took this class online for 7.5 weeks. I thought it was ridiculously harder than a 101 class should be. She will pick out one small sentence from the chapter and use it in the exam. I never did the chapter readings & only used the index and ppts to find the answers. Got an A, but still overall too hard for a 101 class. Try taking it w/ someone else.
Online 7 week Course. ALOT of work each week. 2 Discussion posts a week (400 word minimum each), 2 responses per post (100 word minimum), total minimum of 1200 words a week. Then a 30 question test (60 minutes to complete), straight from the book. Never watched powerpoints. GET THE E-TEXT! It's a lot of work per week, but not hard whatsoever.
Seeley was not my favorite professor. Whenever you emailed her for help, she was very short. Even though the reading material was very easy, the test questions are tricky and detailed. However, I learned a lot and will definitely find this material useful for my future.
If you stay on top of your weekly expected work you will be fine. One week I missed my discussion board posts and responses and that knocked my grade down a couple percent. The tests are pretty straightforward. I recommend this class.
This was an online 7 week Course. ALOT of reading (2 Text books) but that is to be expected with a 7 week course. 2 Discussion posts a week, 2 responses per post. Then a 30 question test in an hour to complete; answers were straight from the book. No final. Great class, taking her again for other courses needed.
Awesome professor! This is the second class I've taken with her and it wasn't a let down. It's a 7 week online course, so it's labor intensive, but Dr. Seeley is very upfront about expectations. As long as you keep on top of your coursework and do the readings you will do great and learn a ton!
Loved this class & love this professor! I have taken many courses with this professor and I have loved every one! She has the same basic structure in all of her classes, a discussion, readings, & 1 exam each week. Would recommend this professor.
The class consisted of two discussion board (500 words) posts each week. No testsquizzes- just two papers that are more opinion based. Easy grader so long as you put in effort. Just make sure to do all the assignments and you'll be fine. I got an A. Prof was helpful and super nice.
Asking with teacher a question will be met with a "don't bother me" attitude. I would not recommend this class to anyone. If you can, drop out while you still can.
Lectures are kinda boring. Online and basically read off textbook pages. Was not impressed. You're ok, if you keep up. Wouldn't take again as I wanted the lectures to expand on the subject, not repeat of what I just read. Kinda disappointing for an upper-division class.
She's a good professor. Class is easy if you read and do the work. I've taken 3 classes from her and got A's all 3 times.
Took this class as an elective credit and would not recommend taking it if you are already stressed for time with other classeswork. Weekly exams are extremely difficult: don't expect to get anything higher than a 65% if you haven't read the 100+ page readings out of the textbook. Save yourself the frustration.
This class was relatively easy but tests are very tough. Usually cover about 2-3 chapters but chapters are very long. Tests are timed to 60 minutes for a 30 question test each week. Very tough tests. Does not round final grade up, no matter what.
Took the 7 week online class, really easy! Each week there's one discussion post, two responses, a 5 question assignment (usually on a video or article) and a 30 question test. I didn't watch her lecture videos ever, but I'd skim the chapters before the test and used the book during the test. Got an A in the class!
Worked HARD! Hoping after last assignment & test I will get an A-. Tests are difficult even wreadings, lectures, & videos. There are two books to read 2(400word) discussion posts &2(100wd ea. discussion so 4 total)responses due, along w test, due each week. Discussions are manageable but tests HARD! One easy EC assignment 10pts. That EC saved me.
To add to the below review I just did, the tests are open book, BUT she makes you use Lockdown Browser so you cannot open any other tabs in this Lockdown. So I literally had to use 2 computers since I had made the mistake of getting an Ebook. Also some questions I needed a ton of help on & the weekly tests are timed, 1 hour 30 tough questions.
A lot of work but it's not too much. If you are an organized person you will do well. Each week: 2 400 word df due Friday & 4 100 word responses (2 for each df) & a 30 question exam due Sunday's. 1 EC opportunity: donate 10 items to an organization of your choice. Overall great class, & interesting readings if you do the work you will get a B+A.
Best thing about this class is the reading... and I usually hate textbooks. The 2 books for this class are fascinating. You will need to read to do well on tests. Took 7 12 online course. Don't be overwhelmed in the beginning, it seems like a lot, but I like the format of this class. 2 dis boards1 test per week.
You won't actually LEARN ANYTHING in this class! This teacher puts maybe 2 or 3 questions from the lecture on tests. The rest of the questions are exact percentages and statistics that have no real implication of the course. It's frustrating and undermines all your studying. Get ready to panic and comb through the book for every question
Avoid this professor at all costs. She is rude, has no leniency, and does not care about the success of her students. She changed the syllabus without alerting the class properly, but still expected us to know she changed it and to abide by the new rules. Because I missed this new, unannounced deadline, I went from an A+ to a B. AVOID HER CLASSES!
Big 30 pt exam the first week and I didn't have my book until the day of so I got a 1830, the next few tests I had my book and read the chapters, but I got 2130 or 2430 AKA not much better than when I didn't even have the book. So I emailed the teacher for help about how I can do better on the next exam, she told me there's not much left to do??
The instructor and the class as a whole are very interesting, the content for CDE 232 at least was very satisfying to learn as a student. The instuctor does have strict grading requirements but don't be intimidated by the overwhelming content, a lot of things are very common sense and a quick run through of the weekly content is really all you need
This is a typical course. Discussion posts, online exams and a quick assignment. The course material was easy to understand and the quiz perfectly reflected what was in the book. She is not a hard grader on the discussion posts, either.
Teacher is rude and seems like she doesn't want to be bothered. Any questions or feed back direct your emails to the teacher assistants. Overall an easy class, she also changed the assignment time from midnight to eight at night, not sure why.
Easy online course. Definitely need the textbook though! All of the exams come verbatim from the textbook!
Weekly tests and moderate amount of reading, but an easy A if you stay on top of the work
I was very excited about this class, but completely lost interest after only doing tests based on the textbook and boring lectures. I wish I could have taken it again with someone else.
I have taken 3 classes from her now. They have all been some of my favorite courses I've taken. The structure to her online courses is easy to follow, it's the same rhythm every week, which is great for me! Read the chapters, watch lecturesother info all week, Friday 2 group discussions are due, Sunday the assignment (written) and test are due.
Although she gives extra credit, her exams are extremely hard. Some of the questions come from the text, but the rest are completely opinionated. She does not allow you to see what you got wrong or even question the right answer. Very unhelpful and not encouraging students to learn much.
She was very thorough with her weekly overview of what was expected that week, what you needed to have done and when it was due. She made the class fun and included things you could relate to. You touch on many different subjects but you learn a lot. You read a lot, but it's good reading material. Great teacher!
Outdated text used in class so difficult to relate to as many societal views and types of family units have changed since 1994. Conservative "family values" flavor to class. Too much emphasis on superiority of heterosexual, traditional gender definition families. Some videos and readings overtly disparaging of divorce, same-sex couples, etc.
Taking her online session B or A classes are tough and make sure you keep up with the work because it can get overwhelming at some times because it is fast pace. However, I enjoyed learning abut the topic it is very interesting. All her tests are open book and note.
Dr. Seeley is an amazing professor! I love that she's very organized and it makes it much easier for students. However, if you send her an email she will be rude and most likely not answer the question. Also, exams are hard for a 100 level course!! you actually have to read and do study guide in order to be successful in the course.
She is a really great professor. I took this class online for 7 weeks. There is a lot of work each week so be prepared to work. Textbooks are essential, you will not pass the class without them! She gives study guides, use them they will help!
This was a half semester online course so it went by very quickly. You have 2 discussion posts, 2 replies and an exam each week; requires a lot of reading and study time to get an A. Bridget is not a hard grader, judges more for your effort put in. Textbooks are good reads, not boring. Easy A if you put in the work!
I liked her class quite a bit. It was the first session B class I've taken so I was worried but everything is laid out very simply. The discussion boards are easy if you just put in the work, tests are somewhat challenging but she gives an hour to take them which is more than enough time. Would take again!
She is very clear about what it takes to succeed in class. Do the work. Reap the rewards. Take excellent notes on all reading. Open book exams so your notes make or break you. Great discussion board topics . Participation and quality of such will get you good grades. I can't stress enough: READ the syllabus a couple times over. Head her advice.
I loved the topic. It was a lot of reading, two chapters a week. The tests were tricky at first, but I got the hang of them in about 2 weeks. She offers 10 points extra credit just by donating items to a charity or for a good cause. This was my second class with her, and I would take her again. Fast respond to emails, even on weekends.
The tests are tough, but if you read and take notes from the readings then there's no reason not to make a good grade. There's a paper, but it's an observation, so it's fun! DB's are really interesting! It's a great class with a great professor!
Professor was obnoxious. Simply not properly citing a source leaves you with a C on the paper. Tons of homework, AT LEAST 1600 words per week. There are no weeks where there is less than 1600 words. Discussion boards were interesting, however lengthy and it seemed as though she really didn't care about the content, only proper format + word count
Super easy class as long as you follow instructions and do your readings. Basically, two 500 word posts per week with four 100 word comments on your classmates, and then two (3-5 page) papers. Extra credit offered as well! Dr. Seeley was also on top of her email, and it was easy to get a hold of her.
She taught a lot of courses I needed for my major. If I could avoid a class with her, I would just because I didn't care for her style and I felt she lacked the personality to teach others. But, of the times I couldn't avoid her class I did do the work, and it as a lot of work! She demands excellence which isn't bad, but she also isn't forgiveing.
Only major complaint is no Feedback on anything
This class was overall very easy. If you keep up with the readings, lectures, and take notes, you will not have a problem succeeding in this class. There are discussion board posts, exams every week, and a budgeting assignment. We utilized a textbook and read My Sister's Keeper. I would take a course from this professor again; she's very organized!
7 week class in which everything was copied from their FAS 435 class-regularly uses FAS/SOC interchangeably. 2 discussion posts per week w/peer responses that need to be 500 and 100 words respectively. Two essays. Teacher will dock you every time you use a pronoun in a DB, even if the prompt uses pronouns to ask you to describe your personal life.
Makes you buy two textbooks so you can watch crappy youtube videos all semester. For claiming to love credible sources, doesn't use them herself. Feedback on assignments is too generic and won't tell you specifically why you were docketed points. Not a lot of assignments or work, doesn't really follow the grading outlines claimed.
Lots of hw no feedback, takes a long time to get any grades
As someone else said, this 'professor' is obnoxious. Rarely use the textbook, instead just watch super weird youtube videos and pretend they are all facts. No idea what my grade is because it takes 3-4 weeks to get a grade on anything.
She is such a harsh grader and annoying.
I'm shocked at the number of negative reviews for her. She is a fair grader, and when I had a family emergency pop up, was incredibly understanding. I loved the content of the class and the budget assignment was interesting as well. I would definitely take another one of her courses.
I wonder if Seeley even exists. TA's are harsh graders and don't follow Seeley's rubric. Finally got annoyed with one grade and emailed Seeley. 4 weeks later and still haven't had a response to my email.
Professor Seeley really cares about the material. I never needed to email her since everything was clearly stated in the syllabus and the TA's emailed back in a timely matter. Not sure why she has such negative reviews, she is a great professor. One big writing project with DBs and online questions that match the textbook. I recommend her.
Seeley is a pretty harsh grader in regards to the writing assignment(s), also the tests are rather difficult and are weighted pretty heavily. Overall the course is a good amount of work, but it was a fun, interesting subject that I enjoyed. I'm sure you could fudge your answers and get your work done pretty quickly for probably about a B though.
If you choose to do the readings, it's a lot of reading, but makes the tests and discussion posts easier. Two posts and one test every week, on about 100+ pages of material. TAs grade everything and are strict on word count.
Dr. Seeley is a great instructor. The layout of the material was extremely organized and easy to follow. Lectures were very interesting and I love her personal insight on the subject matter. There is a weekly quiz, but you will do well as long as you follow with the reading.
This class online is the easier thing ever. Take it. As long as you do the discussion post and meet the word count you get all your points. First three quizzes are a breeze. Test really aren't that hard, some questions are just common sense. I really did not put that much effort, not even sure if I gave it half of my effort. Make sure you do the EC
Easy A! Also, the prof is super nice. Do the DB's and Ec and you will do fine. Make sure to take notes on where general ideas are in the physical book and you can earn 100's on every weekly test.
I really loved this class and I have learned that the in-person lecture is not useful. Just read the textbook and take the exams.
For the most part, she writes the tests around the textbook. Her lectures aren't very helpful; they gloss over the textbook and don't even cover what she tests you on. She has you do a strange budgeting project, which has nothing to do with the class, but it's an easy A, so long as you do the reading and take notes (Open-note tests).
All the quizzes and assignments are from the textbook. Super easy.
The new Connect textbook format that she claimed was so much better than a real book is just a way to make sure we can't buy used. It's worse than a real book. She also never responds in community forum and just sprung an assignment with a movie that we need to pay for on us with no warning. Don't take this class if you dare to ask questions.
You need the textbook but each question online has a button to take you to exactly where the answer is at. It requires mild reading and you should always get 100% on the readings. Assignments are short and easy, quizzes are based off the questions you answered while reading. May seem like a lot of work but it's not.
Easy class, do the assignments, its impossible to get less than a 100 on the assignments. Discussion posts are the worst, initial response of 400 min. words is awful, but responses are 100 words min. so not too bad. do the readings get 100's on homework, study for tests and get an easy A. only one paper /(poster) done in Power point.
Seeley is a great professor. Initially, she comes off demanding. But she really just wants you to do collegiate level work, and follow directions. Rather than a term paper, you will complete a poster through PowerPoint. This was an interesting and managable assignment, trust me. The rest of the points are standard online quiz and discussion board
Easy higher elective online course. Need to purchase an online textbook/interface for doing readings and assignments but it's not too expensive. One exam, a discussion post and a couple of readings and assignments due each week. They weren't hard, just a little time consuming so make sure you space out the work. Most exam content is on quizlet
Excellent class to take. DB 400 word minimum, answers to DB 100 word minimum. The readings are great and really interesting. Powerpoint (not bad, don't let it scare you). There is one critique paper, don't wait until the last minute. Professor Seeley class is awesome. No test. I would take this course again. I learned a lot.
I appreciate that Dr Seeley is organized and class requirements are spelled our clearly. I enjoyed her online lectures. She shares personal insight into the material she covers. I found the course material interesting. If you keep up with the reading and lectures you will do fine in the class.
Dr. Seeley gives great lectures with personal experience to help you understand and get involved with the material. Discussion participation is mandatory, w/2 discussions and responses weekly. No quizzes, one large writing assignment. Requires following APA 7 format, but explains grading criteria clearly. Allows for free flow comms between students
This class involves a lot of reading and writing, but by following the instructions you'll get an A easily. It was disappointing that she had a conservative agenda with her prompts for discussion and did little to facilitate open-mindedness amongst the class. She even had to adjust her final essay prompt because it was insensitive.
I liked this course a lot, however, she didn't enter grades until 4 weeks in to a 7 week course. She graded the first half of assignments, all of which I received a 100% on. Her TA graded the last half, and graded me significantly harder than the prof did, which was my main problem with the course. Just hope you get a good TA I guess!
I really loved this professor and her use of a smart book textbook. The reading was all very interesting and all of the quizzes and assignments directly reflected the material. I was never left feeling confused. Great course!
This is the second course I've taken with Dr. Seeley. Tests are straight out of the Smartbook chapters. You will see some of the same tests on the exam as you saw on the preview tests, so take advantage of the practice. Course is straight forward, she offered two extra credit opportunities this semester. You should get an A if you try.
Readings and quizzes weekly, APA paper and you have to read a book for a test. SO MANY THINGS TO DO. I would NOT recommend unless you have the time and you're interested in the concept. I withdrew because I REALLY didn't have the time for it. Besides, it was onine, compressed into a few weeks. No hate to the professor but she's strict.
Dr. Seeley is a great professor! All assignments are due on Sundays, which consisted of a couple chapter quizzes (super easy, from the textbook), a discussion post, and replies on the discussion board. There is one paper, APA format. She had us read an amazing novel and then we had a simple quiz on it at the end of the course. I highly recommend!!
Dr. Seeley is one of my favorite profs. I took her class because she had a pretty high rating and I loved every course I have taken with her. The book we had for this class was a little outdated so that's the only complaint I had (not really the professor's fault though). If you do the work, there's no way that you won't get an A.
Favorite professor ever. Great communication
This course is very easy you read the material and watch the lecture videos, sometimes the material is a bit lengthy but nothing too complex.
Very interesting class. Professor Seeley wants to see you succeed. As long as you do the work and correctly format APA its an easy A.
Seeley makes sure to stress the academic policy, especially the part where she'll be sure to pursue harsh penalties for cheating. It was overstated. She has zero tolerance for late work unless you have a police report or written medical excuse. I've never been so turned off by a class before even starting the work. Not a course for working adults.
for each of the readings you will be required to answer course concept questions. ex. the first three chapters you have a total of 114 concepts you need to answer questions for and for every one concept you have to answer 2 questions correctly giving you a total of 228 questions that need to be answered CORRECTLY. SO much work it is ridiculous.
No exam, but a TON of reading in this class (FAS598-Family), plus a paper and a "discussion leader" week that takes lots of prep. Little interaction w/Dr. Seeley, besides a weekly email (she did reply to emails.) Students created & led all discussions. TA graded all assignments, little feedback, nothing constructive. Easy extra credit available.
The class was pretty interesting, though it was hard to enjoy learning when you are so pressured into finishing all the homework for this class plus others. For the weekly readings test, discussion post, and chapter exam, I can say I spent about 22 hours a week on just the weekly assignments. Professor is pretty strict on what you can and cant do.
Dr.Seeley was present throughout the course. Lectures were thorough and covered almost everything that was included on the exams. ALOT of homework/reading questions, however, I used these in place of reading the textbook. One big writing assignment due towards the end of the session and weekly discussions. A novel is assigned with a quiz at the end
I took Human Sexuality for science credit, and I thought it sounded interesting. This class is no walk in the park. The professor is tough about EVERYTHING. The discussion posts are graded very harshly, the readings are long and the exams are confusing. You have to really, really try. So, be mindful of that, you have to really want it and love it.
I chose her class as an elective thinking that I would love it just as much as I'd love modern family relationships, well that wasn't the case. This teacher is ridiculous. I would not recommend taking any of her courses.
She is a super nice professor I took her for SOC 270. Super easy interesting materials 2 400-word discussion boards and a week and 4 100-word replies. Weekly test but all the information is in the book and that's it.
mainly weekly discussions that are graded highly if you just cite 2 sources and are an average writer
Class was very interesting and had the average amount of work for an upper div class. 14 discussion board posts (400 words each), must reply to 2 classmates per post (100 words for each reply), 7 exams (not proctored), and a 5 page essay. Took this class as a session B iCourse and it was intense at times. Did everything but the essay and got a B.
I had Dr. Seeley for SOC598 and she was awesome! Dr. Seeley was always checking in with us and quickly responded to questions. The class was fun and we learned a lot. If you do the work then there is no way that you will not pass the class. The topics were interesting and relatable. Dr. Seeley really cares!
One of the best organized classes I have taken. Great level of teacher involvement, workload isn't too heavy but discussions did help me learn. One of the best classes and professors i've had so far.
She's pretty much fine, but my class was an iCourse.
She isn't particularly caring, and the course looks pretty robotic. She mentions in the syllabus NO LATE WORK, and even with my father being in the hospital with cancer, she meant that. She had a few dozen students in this course and again mentions this in her syllabus, so it's unsurprising.
I would NOT recommend taking a class with Professor Seeley if you are working a job to put yourself through college or have any sort of familial obligations or a disability, she has the least compassionate policies I've ever seen. It's a McGraw Hill course so reading assignments/quizzes plus TWO discussion boards per week with at least 4 comments.
I took FAS598, and did well considering I was working full time. The class is mainly discussion boards and responses. There are a lot of learning materials, but you only need to use one source per dicsussion board. TAs are grading the work, and they give feedback on what to fix which is very helpful.
Class was challenging and time consuming. Lots of reading and writing but if you organize your schedule it is manageable. Dr. Seeley is helpful and does care, but can come off slightly unfriendly.
One of the easiest classes I have ever taken. I do not understand how people thought it was hard. It was an open notes/book class. I would take her again! If you email her with a problem, she will be kind and compassionate.
Overall, really great class! The navigation through the class was very organized and the McGraw Hill learning format was organized and extremely helpful to learning. Some of the homework is time consuming so make sure you come up with a schedule
Super easy A but a bit time consuming. Included mandatory questions along with the textbook that took forever. So you can't just skim the textbook cuz there is an assignment attached. Tests were open book. All modules opened first day of class which I loved. One big paper and discussion boards every week.
Self taught class with too much reading. You read the two entire textbooks, two weekly essays & take a test. No lectures. Unorganized and dismissive professor, avoid the class if you have any life outside of school or have a learning disability.
If you have a busy schedule this class might get overwhelming. There is a lot to read and a bit of homework. Two discussion write-ups every week plus 4 replies plus weekly tests. There's an essay due later in the semester. The course was interesting and enlightening. Dr. Seeley is very kind and compassionate.
If you have a FT job or any other classes at the same time, I wouldn't recommend this professor. It's a lot. Requires a police report or medical note to allow any late assignment. TA's grade and they're harsh and deduct points for EVERYTHING. They must've had the same experience with the professor to learn to be so extreme. Save yourself the stress
Shes an annoying grader. Every little thing she will take points off. Honestly not hard to pass. She offers EC, helps a lot. She really wont give any extensions. I had a note from the hospital itself about my grandfathers death and she said no but she sent her condolences.
FAS370 with Professor Seeley can be a lot of work, but the weekly discussions and exams are manageable. unstuckstudy was a big help for study prep.
Worst professor I have had. The curriculum is absolute propaganda, the textbook definition of an out-of-touch white woman with a superhero complex.
One of the worst professor I've taken in all of my higher education years. She expects a lot from students, but doesn't teach the class. Extremely hard grader. She states students need to expect class to be a part time job. Haven't learned anything from the class about marriage or relationships, but learning how points are deducted from assignments
Just bad!! No words to explain how bad this professor is. Not even sure why she's even a professor. Lots of discussions to do with other classmates, but she doesn't teach the class. Self taught class.
WILL NOT LEARN FROM THIS CLASS! ALL YOU LEARN IS HOW THE PROFESSOR WILL DEDUCT "MAJOR" "MAJOR" POINTS FROM YOUR ASSIGNMENTS AND IT'S HER WAY OR NOTHING. SHE MAKES THE STUDENTS TEACH THE CLASS. RATING FOR A PROFESSOR IS "D" FOR AT LEAST SETTING UP THE CLASS. IF YOU HAVE A PROFESSIONAL FULL-TIME JOB THEN THIS CLASS IS SET UP FOR STUDENTS TO FAIL.
This instructor should NOT be teaching! She does a disservice to the university and its goals of inclusion, she does not prepare for class and relies on students to teach and lead her class. She is bitter about men (and I'm a female.) I have a 4.0 but this class is going to lower my GPA because the instructor is awful and doesn't help us learn.
The whole class is just the students teaching one another. Sooooo much reading and basically all discussions, one article critique, and a discussion leadership assignment. The students taught each other through powerpoints and questions... I swear the professor did nothing the whole semester. TAs also graded everything.
I put minimal effort in this course and still learned something. Each week you have two lectures to watch, but she reads off the slides. You have 2 400 word discussion posts with 2 replies each, which is annoying but fine considering it's a 3 credit course. You also have to read a book about emotional intelligence but I just scanned through.
Not recommended! multiple teacher assistants grade the material, feedback is not directly from the professor. Additionally, you are unable to respond to the commentary made by the TAs. Note that this professor will not allow you to turn anything late. Must show a police report and sensitive data as evidence that you need additional time/extension
Took her FAS 331: Modern Family Relationships, get ready to read. Overall, great teacher. Everything is straightforward. Just get it done by the due date and you can simply get an A. The course work is knowledgeable.
There is an ungodly amount of assignments due in this class of which I've never seen before, even in my more advanced classes. Not only is the workload immense, but the course material is void of any substance whatsoever. This class feels like an insult to the student's intelligence and time, and i would stay away from it.
