Professor Langlie was the best professor I've had at Binghamton so far! She was really into the material and very knowledgeable on the subject. She took attendance but class was not mandatory. She doesn't post lectures but if you take notes you can do well on midterm/final. Also two papers the whole semester, each are pretty easy. She's great!!
Professor langlie was a awesome professor I've had in bingbamton. she was caring and nice, we had some online discussion assignment due before each class. we were not a lot to use laptop so take note wisely!! cuz she talks a lot of side info you don't have to copy every single words she said. the exams were fair if you goto class you will DEF pass.
Knowledgeable and helpful. Clearly an expert in her field and definitely loves what she does. A true asset to the anthropology department.
Very easy class and Dr. Langlie is an extremely easy grader. She gives good criteria on how all assignments will be graded. Once in a while, she has a "pop quiz" to make sure people are showing up to class, but not difficult. She is passionate and interesting!
Interesting but easy lectures. Readings are a bit tedious, but not impossible to understand. Has mandatory pop quizzes, but they count as extra credit so they cannot work against you. Tests are easy as well, just study and go to class. Had in-class activities (did labs and watched movies). Dr. Langlie is an easy grader, very sweet and caring.
Fantastic Professor. The class was not terrible at all! Just a few papers that are easy. lectures are so investing and it was worth every second. Take it, you'll enjoy it
ANTH111 is probably my favorite class here. Prof Langlie makes her lectures super engaging and she's very nice. You can tell she knows her stuff and she cares a lot about her students. It is an intro class, so it is easy. No textbook, there are readings, guest lectures, and tests are straight forward and easy. Would really recommend.
There is a reason why she is rated 4.8. I was not a fan of anthropology but still ended up loving the class. She is like that fun and outgoing social studies teacher in high school. I highly recommend to take this class!
She is super nice and makes you interested in anthropology. I would recommend taking her class. You learn everything u need during the lecture. Her goal is to make us learn something we'll remember in 10 years rather than straight up facts.
Amazing prof and course. Lectures are interesting but not mandatory. 2 midterms, one final, and 3 "labs". Labs were more guided and usually only took 30 min of the hour that you are assigned. The exams are really easy, she says at the beginning of the semester that she wants you to get an A and odds are if you know whats on her slides you will.
Very fair tests and quizzes, as long as you take notes you'll do well in her class. Very kind and definitely cares about her students and their grades.
Professor Langlie is a very easy going instructor. You don't need to attend class bc she doesn't take attendance but it is helpful for knowing whats going on because she goes over everything. She also gives out two test questions before every exam and on the final. There isnt much outside work that needs to be done. Overall a great and easy gen ed.
Dr. Langlie teaches her students, not to trick them, but to make sure they are enjoying her class while learning. She takes the class seriously but also treats the class as gen ed. She assigns daily readings, which are interesting, but not necessarily required to pass the class. There are 3 labs, but as long as you participate you get an A.
I have never met such an unprofessional professor at Binghamton. God forbid she catches you on your phone in lecture she will pick on you and call you out multiple times in front of 200 people like high school. She stresses frequently the fact that you don't have to come to class and that's why half of her sections are empty (I only went 2 months)
Super easy class if you need the gen. ed. I wasn't interested in anthropology before taking ANTH 111, but Dr. Langlie is an amazing professor who obviously loves what she does and is extremely knowledgeable, and now I'm taking another anthropology course next semester! Amazing class
I wasn't always extremely interested in the subject, but Dr Langlie was a great teacher. She was energetic and genuinely interested in the topic, unlike all my other professors. If you are looking for an easy A or gen ed credit, I would recommend ANTH 111 with Dr Langlie
I honestly had no interest in anthropology before this class but Dr. Langlie really made it enjoyable and easy to digest. Her class made me want to take another anthro class. She was very enthusiastic, knowledgable, and always willing to answer questions. Highly recommend her!!!
Dr Langlie is an AMAZING professor. She clearly knows a lot about what she is teaching and this class in particular is easy to get an A in. You don't have to go to lecture, just keep up with definitions and main concepts.
I knew very little about anthropology before this class, and afterwards I'm considering taking it up as a minor. She's a very considerate professor, trying to make things interesting, engaging and reflective. It was a non stressful, enjoyable class and i'd recommend it if you want to learn something new! More conceptual than memorization
Dr. Langlie is one of the best professors I've had so far. Keeps lectures exciting and fun, and always answers questions. Only graded on 2 tests, a final exam, and 3 labs. The tests are easy if you pay attention in lecture and study. Not only are labs easy, but also interesting. Great class to take for gen ed.
Dr. Langelie is my girl! She's really nice and bubbly and has interesting lectures. It's a pretty interesting intro class and you'll pass as long as you do the work. There were more guest lectures than I would have liked because I prefer her teaching us more cause she's good at lecturing. I would take a class with her again!
Definitely my favorite professor!! Although attendance is not mandatory, you can tell that Dr. Langlie puts a lot of effort into keeping her students' attention during her lectures. Great professor, she is very passionate about what she teaches. Got me interested in learning about anthropology myself!
Super enthusiastic and actually cares about student success. Readings were assigned for HW a lot but werent that necessary because she went over it in class. Tests are not difficult and she even says she likes when her tests are easy. Labs were easy and straightforward. Lots of guest lecturers.
I loved Professor Langlie. She cares about her students and is funny and lighthearted. Her tests are super easy. There are readings for homework but she goes over them in class so are not 100% necessary. There are 3 labs which are easy and graded lightly. She is such an amazing professor and kept me interested each class. Lots of guest lecturers.
Professor Langlie is an amazing, caring, and inspiring professor and I loved every second I spent in her class. Although attendance isn't mandatory, I'd highly recommend going to class--her lectures are engaging, interesting, and they really open up your worldview. She sets her students up for success and truly cares about them.
Dr. Langlie is awesome!! If you're considering taking literally anything she is teaching, I would definitely do it. She makes me actually want to come to lecture & got me interested in anthropology.
Great Prof, make sure you pay attention to her guest lecturers. The topics frequently come up on exams, and they help relate to the whole sections for the time. She is very accommodating, and extremely helpful outside of class, as well are the TA's
She's the reason I've changed to an anthropology major. She's very nice. There are 3 labs to go to the entire semester, I accidentally missed one and she let me make it up. The exams are easy and straightforward, which reminded me of a high school social studies test. Slides are posted online and still got an A when I missed 90% of lectures.
Shes a wonderful professor, she even inspired me to look take an Anthro minor! If you want a low stress Gen Ed course definitely take this! You learn a lot of interesting material and shes wants all her students to succeed in her class. Definitely attend lectures to understand the content in the midterms and final, would definitely recommend her!
Professor Langlie is so passionate about anthropology and gives amazing lectures. Attendance was definitely not mandatory but I attended nearly every lecture just because I enjoyed her class so much. There are three very doable labs and the exams are more than fair. Definitely take a class with Langlie if you get the chance!
My favorite professor so far. Dr. Langlie is an amazing professor and I highly recommend this class for anyone needing the gen-ed or interested in Anthropology.
a literal angel
100% my favorite class I've taken so far, I loved Dr. Langlie! She's very passionate and it shines through in class. The lectures were always engaging and I genuinely learned a lot, so I would recommend attending class even though it's not mandatory. The labs, midterms and tests were also very fair. I'd give a higher rating if I could!
easy gen ed + super nice professor
She is one of the most engaging professors. Her lectures are relatable to the average student while still explaining complex ideas. Throughout the semester, she was considerate of our work and cared that each of us pass. Only complaint is there are too many guest lectures. She is more interesting than the guests.
Dr Langlie is an absolute gem. She is an amazing lecturer and really cares about her students. I barely showed up to class and still got an A. It's not hard to do well if you read the notes.
dr. langlie is an amazing lecturer. she cares so much about her students and her material. she makes it so if you really want to learn anthropology, you will, and/or if u just want an easy A, ur getting it. best professor ive ever had, thank u!! graded by 3 labs - 15 percent, 2 midterms - 15 p and final - 25 p. all hella easy
its not a hard class and ur labs will bring ur grade up a lot, a little upset bc all of my other professors round their grades up while she doesnt, i was .32% shy of an A-, but overall if u want the easy A u should attend most classes and remember everything the guest lecturers say, they r like half the test.
Prof. Langlie is a good teacher, even if the material is mostly feminist and liberal in nature. The class is an easy A, and if you want you can skip all the lectures ans still have an A. The "labs" take 15 minutes, and the tests are common sense + a little latin. No real negatives about the class or Prof.
This class was on the easier side for me, definitely a nice break from more difficult classes. The exams and labs are easy and do not take much time to complete. The content taught in the course is mostly common sense or information you may already know, but still interesting. GPA booster!
This will be the easiest class you will take at BU. She is an easy grader, clear lectures, and amazing guest lecturers. Take this course with a difficult course such as calc, orgo, chem, physics, etc. to keep you sanity. Great GPA booster for low grades.
The class was super interesting and the professor was so engaging during every lecture. Also only 3 labs a semester. All tests and labs were super easy and she cared more that you were listening than anything else
Dr. Langlie is great, prob one of the most understanding professors I've had. Work is straightforward and clearly defined. Take good notes in lecture and study a little before the exam. Deff recommend taking this for the gen ed, material can be dry at times but overall class is pretty easy and Langlie is passionate and charismatic.
Dr. Langlie is probably my favorite professor that I have taken a class with, she is so sweet and truly cares about her students. The class is super easy, and the lectures are actually interesting. If you show up it's an easy A, and studying for tests isn't necessary.
Nicest professor ever. Dropped a 68 on the second midterm and still got an A by doing well on the final (Exams are really easy just didn't show up to class for second midterm). 45% of your grade If you show up to the labs and there are only 3. A lot of lectures were pretty interesting too.
Absolutely loved Dr. Langlie. She is the sweetest and really wants all her students to do well. If you show up to class and take good notes, it is an easy A. Perfect class for an G or N requirement.
Do not take this class when you are an upperclassman, it will make you regret not choosing Anthropology as your major. Professor Brieanna Langlie's lectures are entertaining and she has a great personality. Most of her guest lecturers are interesting as well. Watch all the movies and memorize her lecture slides and you will do well in her class.
Dr. Langlie is an absolute sweetheart. TAKE THIS CLASS even if you dont need it for any specific reason. Its relatively easy to get a decent grade and the professor is nothing short of amazing.
Tests were really easy so long as you studied the lecture slides. The reading assignments are not super necessary, skim at most. She posts all the slides online after class, but still try to go to every class. Very sweet woman, always available after class.
Wonderful class and professor. The class is 3 labs and 3 exams, all of which are very easy. Paying attention in lecture and taking notes is enough to get an A. She is very helpful and caring and will give you answers to exam questions during the test. Absolutely take this if you want an easy gen ed or are interested in getting into anthropology.
Anthro 262 Ancient Civilizations of Peru. Two quizzes, two exams, one final, and one map project. Show up and take notes on what she says and look over lecture slides and you'll be fine. Had readings, but you can get away without reading all of them. Take notes on documentaries she shows. She cares about her students doing well. Great class!
Professor Langlie is the sweetest professor I've had at Binghamton so far. I took the class for the Fall 2021 semester which consisted of 2 midterms (30 questions each, both easy), 1 final (50 questions, easy), and you only have to go to the discussion section 3 times for the labs. Readings for homework can be skimmed, often talked about in class
Dr. Langlie is very knowledgeable & passionate about her work. I took this course as a minor requirement & didn't have much interest in the topic, but she made the content very engaging. Show up to class, take notes, & study before the exams & you'll do well. Dr. Langlie doesn't want her students to stress & she really wants us to learn.
Professor Langlie is a wonderful human. The course is filled with information that was easy to understand and genuinely useful. I loved the guest lecturers that would come in because it gave us a break from the content we had been learning but was still incredibly interesting. Easy A and just as importantly a great course.
Langlie really made me like anthropology when I took this class based on a random recommendation from an advisor. She cares about the topics and speaks about it all so enthusiastically. I had talked to her in person and she truly made the class feel like a personalized experience. I recommended many of my friends to take her classes.
10/10 AMAZING. She really cares about her students' academic success. Top three caring professors at bing TAKE A CLASS W HER
This is my second class with Dr. Langlie and she never disappoints. She knows how to make students feel valued for their knowledge and truly helps us work on our potential in and outside of academia. She is by definition what a college professor should be like!!!
so so nice and sweet. take her she's amazing!!!
Dr. Langlie is very nice, funny, and caring. The course consists of three midterms, if you take good notes and study them you will find the midterms to be easy. There is only four labs throughout the semester. This is a very good and easy course to take.
Dr. Langlie's class is quite easy. All you really need to do to pass her 3 tests is pay attention in class. You also only need to go to 4 discussion/lab sections for the whole semester. The only downside, in my opinion, is the class is about 40% guest lectures which can be boring. I definitely recommend her class for an easy gen-ed or gpa-booster.
She doesn't like it when you say her class is easy, you certainly need to study for her exams. They aren't too difficult but you can't go into them blindly and expect to do well. That being said, she's a really nice person and cares for her students success. Just put effort, review material before tests and you'll be fine.
She is very nice and you can tell she loves what she does. The class was a good gen ed that wasn't time consuming. The 4 labs are easy and the tests are relatively easy too as long as you take notes. She brings in a lot of guest lectures which can be annoying and boring at times, but they are relevant for the tests.
Exposes you to the very basic ideas about anthropology. Easy and enjoyable gen ed. You need to review before the exams but besides that no homework. I recommend this class with her.
My first ever anthro. class and she made it very fun and entertaining. Great intro class and she ensures that if you actually apply yourself you will get a good grade. It is clear that she wants to see her students succeed.
Take ANTH 111! I took as a gen ed but now I'm interested in maybe minoring in anthroplogy. Dr. Langlie is a fantastic lecturer who really wants her students to succeed and take away important info about anthropology. As long as you pay attention and study for exams, getting an A is easy. She has guest lecturers so we can learn topics from experts.
She is super nice and makes effort in lectures. Exams are very easy, she just wants you to understand the big picture, wants students to succeed. The lab portion is also very easy and helps you understand material. would take this class again, a nice gen ed to split up very work load.
Professor Langlie is a great professor who wants her students to succeed. She evens out the weights of grades to prevent students from failing. She is very passionate about her lectures and just wants you to enjoy the class and learn.
Dr. Langlie is a wonderful instructor with interesting lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory and her slides are always posted later on, so you don't have to worry about missing too much. The exams and labs were super straight-forward and easy. Take this class if you want an easy gen-ed. Who knows, you might even consider an anthro major/minor after!
Dr. Langlie is intelligent and passionate about her work. The class is easy as long as you show up and pay attention. Same thing with labs, you'll get a 100 if you just go and make an effort. Exams are straightforward, just study a little and skim the readings. Dr. Langlie wants you to succeed and I appreciate that! Fun easy gen ed.
Taking Anth111 with Dr. Langlie was a great educational experience. I'm walking away from this class with much knowledge about all the subfields of anthropology and beyond. I definitely will be taking a another class with her being that I'm an anthropology major.
Great professor very fair grading (3 exams, 4 labs) only had to go to 4 labs total which are 40% of your grade, if you go to class and pay attention you should get an A. Only draw back was the guest lecturers who were boring and we should not be tested on them but we are. Take for easy gen ed A
Professor Langlie is a wonderful human being! Her lectures are interesting and she is passionate towards her studies. Initially I knew nothing about anthropology but now I know a lot more about it and how it relates to our daily lives. Take notes, review her slides and readings, attend labs, and most importantly attend class!
This was an extremely easy class, which she admits to; her goal is to provide you with a very basic, but broad understanding of anthropology. There were 3 exams, all multiple choice and readings to do outside of class, but lectures were easily understood without the readings. The labs were also easy, more writing and some independent thinking.
Dr. Langlie is a sweet woman, who genuinely cares about her students. She made her lectures interesting and engaging. You are only graded by a few things (3 exams and 4 labs) but they are not extremely hard. She will give you readings, but you can honestly just skim them. Definitely would recommend this class if you need to up your GPA.
The exams make up 60% of the class and the rest are labs which should be easy 100s. Lecture attendance isn't mandatory, and you can get away with cramming for exams. Do well on the first 2 exams and labs so you don't need an amazing grade on the final. Definitely study, but most of the material is common sense.
Genuinely gave interesting lectures and was really kind and understanding. If you have any issues, talk to her and she will try her best to help. Would take again
Dr. Langlie is a wonderful professor who genuinely cares about what she studies and teaches. Her lectures were informative, interesting, and easy to follow. She is very organized, cares about giving her students a confidence-boosting grade, and makes it clear what she wants students to gain from her class.
Very engaging lectures and langlie is so funny. Very straight forward tests. Easy grader. Gives back points if majority gets a question wrong. Drops one exam grade. Easy labs. Not time consuming. She gives a great intro to anthropology, id recommend this class for anth majors and gen ed. You will actually learn something. Overall amazing, kind prof
Best professor every she's so nice and keeps lecture interesting, class was so easy too theres three midterms and one final which are all very fair and easy if you go to lecture you'll be fine. Extra credit available too, defiantly recommend such an amazing professor and class
Dr. Langlie is an incredibly fun, caring, and knowledgable professor. She makes her lectures fun and engaging, and posts readings that help clarify the topics discussed in class. I would 100% recommend taking this course.
Genuinely this class made my semester so much less stressful. As long as you study for the test (which aren't that difficult) and attend the labs you'll pass. She is a lovely women and this is my favorite class I highly recommend if you prefer test to papers and are looking for an easy class.
This might be a hot take, but I thought this class was TOO EASY. Which is crazy. Half the class didn't show up each time, and those who did spent the entire time playing Wordle, and the average grade was still like a B+ with nobody paying attention. The tests are common sense questions and jokingly easy. If that's what you want, take this course.
The course's grade is based on labs and 4 exams. Labs can get As as long as you tried, but the mid-exams are hard and no curve. They are based on lectures, articles, and guest lectures, but no study guides given so you need to memorize everything. No recommend if you have bad memory and want an easy A.
I love this class best ever. No writing grades are the four labs and four test (she drops the lowest one). She herself is a delight she is funny and kind. The test are all multiple choice and feel as though she wants you to do well. She is also obviously passionate about her field making her lectures more compelling definitely recommend.
She was so funny and would bring pop culture into what we were learning. Lectures are not mandatory but were very helpful for explanations. Lots of guest lectures, which were fine I just preferred Dr. Langlies lectures. Very easy gen ed.
Absolutely loved this class and Dr. Langlie. She is so knowledgable, I genuinely feel like I learned a lot. Study for the 3 mid terms, attend and do your best at the 4 labs, and you'll do fine. Attendance isn't mandatory but her lectures are fun to be at. I 100% recommend taking this class as an easygoing gen ed. It made me want to minor in Anth!
Great professor. Her lectures were very engaging. She had a lot of guest speakers which I guess would be interesting for someone majoring in Anthropology. The class was very easy though and she drops the lowest of four exam grades. There are also four labs and they are graded extremely leniently. It's an easy A if you do the bare minimum.
This class is actually really easy as long as you do the bare minimum and just attend the lectures. You don't rly have to take notes or anything just pay attention and review some flash cards the day before the test and you'll get an A. Really easy class and fun if your interested in anthropology.
I love Dr. Langlie. She's extremely fair. All she really wants you to do is come to class and take notes, which is the bare minimum. The tests are based on whatever is said in class, so notes really help. She provides optional "hw" readings. The labs are easy. She's funny and engaging. She cares, and just wants us to learn something new. Love her.
Free A. Take the class, make sure you go to labs, barely study, and you'll be fine.
Her class is a great gen ed to take and pretty easy to do well in. Also interesting too which is a plus!
professor girl boss
This class was really interesting, covered a lot + you get to hear from other anthropologists about what they spend their time studying! If you're considering anth, this helps you decide if it's right for you!
She assigns a bunch of readings which she does test on, and also doesn't post the notes slides. Other than that though, the class is pretty fun and easy as long as you make the effort to pay attention
the most chill prof. good class for a gen ed. she posts all her slides so you don't have to go to class as long as you review the slides but her lectures are so interesting. you can tell she is an expert in her field. only a midterm and a final and both make questions straight from the slides. easiest class ever
professor awesome
She's very nice and funny at times. Lectures dont make you snooze
Lectures are somewhat entertaining, but she is annoying. She says the tests will be on surface-level information; however, they are not. The true/false section of the tests are very tricky, as only 1 small word might be changed to make it the wrong answer. Lots of guest lectures on information that is way too advanced for an intro course.
Very text heavy and the tests are easy except for the multiple choice. The readings don't actually mean much except she claims it does. Too many guest lecturers that are important to know for the tests.
Very good and kind professor and she definitely knows her stuff. Lectures are interesting and engaging. Make sure to show up to the lectures and take notes, as they will be crucial to pass her exams. She has three midterms (lowest will be dropped) and a final. Just show up, take a bunch of notes, and you'll be just fine.
Her lectures are interesting and she posts her lectures. only graded on tests and labs, which the tests can be tricky if you do not know the material. the labs are easy to get a good grade on just a little time consuming. there were also a LOT of guest lectures which the material seemed advanced for an intro class.
Terribly boring lectures and a terribly boring lecturer (however make sure you take good notes), has tendency to call people out during lecture if they're not paying attention. LOTS of guest lectures, tests will include information from guest lectures, final is cumulative and 70 questions. busy work ahh class bruh
Overall, it's an interesting course and the tests aren't too difficult. She uses a lot of guest lecturers, and includes those on tests, which makes the studying process a bit unorganized. Anything said in lectures and readings are free game for test. When studying you should keep in mind important concepts rather than extremely specific details.
Professor is very nice and clearly cares about her research. Class is very easy.
This class was great! She keeps you engaged most of the time. She grades you on tests and labs. She assigns readings before every lecture that you're supposed to read but I found personally you don't really need to read them. Pay attention to the lecture and you'll do fine. Also pay attention to guest lecturers because they're on the test too.
Maybe top 3 professors I've had. Class was interesting and she is incredibly kind. If you go to class and pay attention, you'll get an A so easily. Guest lectures were also phenomenal and very engaging. Apparently she also reads these? Not that that affects this rating but she says she does and I have to believe her. Take this class.
Loved Dr Langlie! Got an A going to maybe 50% of lectures and not really paying attention (used it as time to do other work).. Exams are SO EASY, study the slides (readings are unnecessary). Labs are very easy. The final also had about half its questions directly from our class exams. Very kind and entertaining prof, take for an easy gen ed!
The professor made class fun. There was a combination of her own lectures and guest lectures that were tested on three different exams, where one was dropped. They consist of MCQ and T/F questions only, and one final exam with all three units. Each exam is worth 20% of your final grade, and your lab, which is worth 40% of your grade, 10% each.
The type of class you dread because it is so boring. I believe she cared about what she taught, but she was unable to convey the information in a captivating way. It was definitely not hard, it was just terribly boring.
