She is a wonderful prof. and very helpful. A+
great prof, easy exams quizes can be difficult, helpful
No Comments
she was hard, but fair. I was one of those favorites. Take more than 1 of her classes at a time, you'll only have to take 1 exam if your'e doing well.
You'll learn a lot, but be preapred to study for her quizzes and exams!
She was very nice and a fair grader. She tells you exactly what she wants beforehand. She only gave homework once this semester. There are a lot of quizzes and tests, but if you study, they are easy.
Hilarious. She is funny and she is intelligent. Take notes, read the books and you will get an A. Simple as that people ! Also, she loves the West Wing!
easy class but she tried to answer my cell phone when it rang in class so i punched the **** in the mouth,
nice lady, but very unorganized, forget about emailing her anything she doesnt respond. i wouldnt take her again.
Nice, Funny, Clear. Tests/Quizzes are straightforward and based on class discussions. Interesting, even for the non-feminist like me. Very intelligent. Will absolutely take again. -Skippy
Pretty easy...if you know about politics before hand. She talks a lot about stuff no one really cares about. Occasionally has an interesting class. It's simply annoyoing to go to this class.
fair grader. cool coursework. good stories. i loved this class this semester.
Prof. Harrison is a very good professor. This class was interesting and quite informative. Her lectures, quizzes, and tests were basically based off each chapter in the textbook, thus reading the assinged chapters is a wise choice. Overall, good prof.
Dr. Harrison was the worst professor or teacher I have ever had. Her attitude towards certain students was very unbecoming of a university professor. I would, under no circumstances, take any class or lecture with her again.
This was a class on polling, and there was a lot of statistical math involved. Polling is one of the few scientific aspects to political science. She gave several homework assignments, which were not hard, and there were several quizzes. Her class was quite relaxed. I would highly recommend her.
Three quizzes, she drops the lowest one. One midterm , one final, and a presentation/paper. She is an easy grader and super nice. She will answer questions and tries to help everyone. If you take notes and skim the readings, you will be fine.
If you don't care about politics don't take this class. But if you do it is a great class with a lot of interaction. She's knowlegable and is a good teacher but if you get on her bad side she does play favorities. Easy work, just take notes, and skim reading and you'll be fine.
Another successful Harrison class. Very straightforward and fair with the work requirements. Interesting lectures.
fair grader, great lecturer, very funny!
She is nice, her hand writting is terrible. she wrote the book and she wants you to know everything. she will give you a studyguide and her quezes are terribly hard. an interwive paper with elected women politician. If you could not find anyone to interview, you have to drop the class.
She's the best prof at MSU! Brilliant -- really knows her stuff. Funny and cute. Great lectures. Essay exams, but she comments on drafts. Hard quizes.
Nice lady. Very pretty and smart., will help you if you need it. pay attention and you'll learn
I liked her class if you read the chapter her quizzes were easy and she drops the lowest one. Her essay tests are hard but she gives you 6 questions before to prepare then 2 are on the test.. dont do anything worng like come to class late and just stay in
She was awful. Worst professor. She's very nasty and rude to non-majors! She sucked!
I am getting ready to graduate MSU in May, 2006, and this woman is THE WORST professor I have run into, and will ever run into there. She does not teach, and expects students to pass impossible quizzes and tests. I dropped her class while I could still get some of my money back, because she is simply a loser who does not deserve to keep her job.
Great Professor! The work is not easy but if you do exactly as she tells you, you'll pass without a problem. She knows her stuff and is more than happy to share it with everyone! I definetely recommend her.
She gives the rules on the very first day of class: Class attendance, about four quizes (one dropped). an essay, and three to four group work. If you can secure 100% in each of the quizes and the essay. You will get away with the final. She is fantastic. I am changing my major to pol science for her sake.
just run; she is so strange and rude. she freaks out about things and doesn't understand why everyone is so tired! she only works one day a week - thinks she great - and gives crazy tests that make no sense - just leave; leave now!
She is simply the best! Very clear on what she wants from you. Quizzes are easy if you do the reading, directly from book and notes. The exams are essays and you need to put the work into them and she will grade them fairly. As the person below me stated, I'm switching my major to Political Science and she is the reason why. Great Class!
If you're not a POLS major DO NOT TAKE HER! She favors them because she can't grasp that someone people are interested in politics as a side interest and do not want to make it their career. Other then that she shoots down anything she doesn't agree with VERY CLOSE MINDED.
She's a jerk. Don't bother raising your hand/asking for help. I took the same class in HS; that's the only reason I did OK. Her notes are old & yellowed. If you want a good grade, pretend to idolize her. Otherwise, don't make eye contact. She'll yell if you're sleepy at 10:30 PM. I took 6 classes: all A's except for her B; & I knew stuff already!!!
short answer quizes, midterm, final. (one interview for 'women in politics')
Dr. Harrison is probably the worst Poli Sci professor I have ever had. I am a Poli Sci major, and she still is of no help to me because I don't kiss her ass. Her quizzes and exams are ridiculous. Do the reading and you'll be fine, but don't a warm learning experience. I was very disappointed with her.
fantastic prof. I am giving you the secrete to ace her class. Study all board notes--and for the text book, pay attention to side notes or the glossary notes. Do well in her first three quizes and take home essay--your semester with her will be over with an A. Lastly, study ahead of class and participate; if you can--buy a law dictionary at Barnes
Great prof, clear lectures, and she's hot
Quizzes are VERY HARD, exams are easier and she will help you. Funny teacher and nice and pretty. I asked her to marry me, but she's already married!
interesting, funny. i would take her again.
Least pleasant experience.Never even heard good things about her from other students.

Great prof. Looks like Renne Zellweger. she's hot, funny nice, wants students to work hard, but you learn a lot. Study notes and key terms for quizzes.
Love her. Hot, smart, very helpful. Cares about students.
Energetic and fun. If you have an A in all assignments she lets you out of the final. Oh and she is hot.
Great teacher. I learned so much from her. Class is fun and informative. Quizes are easy and midterm/final she gives you the essay questions ahead of time. You've got to do the homework. It shows up on the quizes.
One of the best profs ever. Very smart, great teacher, kind, funny, understanding. Th best at MSu
I took many of her political science classes because she is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. You will not want to miss a class. Take good notes, make sure you understand the terms in the reading, and you will do well and learn a lot! Also excellent at helping you obtain internships that are very valuable (i.e. Inside Washington).
These other comments have to be fake....she is not a good professor...she is really rude and MEAN
Terrible professor ! :(. she insulted me as a person because my viewpoints were too conservative for her taste and i saw it throughout our her paper grading. Very boring and very judgmental. Also she asks your major aT the beginning of the semester and even will write polysci or non polysci on your paper. MSU has better staff she gives them a bad
Professor Harrison was one of the better teachers I've had in college. She energized the classroom with great personality and charisma. She incorporated class discussion, movies and lectures into the framework of the course. Exams were essay and she was a pretty tough grader. I received a B in the class and thought that was fair.
She is awesome and well rounded, dont bs her with sorry excuses;she will give you no eye contact. Quizzes are pretty simple, just know your terms, and do the reading n take good notes in class. She is prety helpful with internships and such. a good reference to keep in touch with.
She is a good prof. About five quizzes they are ok but you have to study from the book! The midterm and final are decent, essay format she picks the essays but gives you the questions prior to the exam. Her homework assignments are easy (short answer questions). Do not try to text in her class, she will not tolerate that! Overall ok class.
her quizzes & exams are impossible... seriously her class has made this semester the worst ever. just avoid taking her!!
Quiz every two weeks. One mid-term and final. Overall not a difficult class, she just thinks she knows everything. She'll also kick you out of class if you text.
do not take she is full of herself and thinks she knows it all. ridiculous for a 100 level course. she thinks she is the only one that has a life outside of school students are not important
Overall a great teacher. Go to class and read the book and everything is easy to understand. Lectures were interesting, if you like politics. Looked forward to her class. There were only 4 quizzes (1 dropped), a midterm and final. But if you get an A in her class, you don't have to take the final (big plus). Would definitely take her again!
A fantastic professor. I learned so much from her. No text but she required about 4 articles aweek so the course was about this election. Great lectures she knows what she's talking about. She is tough and the lazy ones can't bs her but I am taking her next semester as are alot of other people in the class. She also has great political contacts
She is very intimidating but she actually is very nice. I thought quizzes were harder than exams (essays). Lectures very well organizied and interesting and there were great class discussions. She is on CNN and Fox News all the time. She does know her stuff.
This professor was amazing! i wish i could take more classes with her shes so clear to the point and interesting her quizes are vocab from the text, hw test questions, and her midterm and final are a couple of essays gave out partner quizzes! Learned so much Take her!!
Dr. Harrison is terrific. Her class is organized, and you know what to expect. I had a personal issue during the semester and she was very sympathetic. I learned a lot and became more interested in political events. She also is a great dresser :)
Well, this professor changed my life. I took Campaign Politics where we had to work on a campaign. She placed me on a campaign, then I got to go to the inauguration. She then helped me get an internship at a senators office, and he just offered me a job after I graduate in May! She is awesome!!!!
Professor Harrison is an extremely intelligent woman. You have to work for your grade, but she makes it fun. There's a midterm and final, and a quiz on the chapter vocab every other week. Easy A if you do your homework. I would take every class I could with her.
Professor Harrison's class starts off seeming fun, but then turn into really boring lectures that feel like they will last forever. She leaves early almost every class but makes you stay behind and do some weird group project. If you do really good in class you don't have to take her final. Try to make it to every class.
Professor Harrison was a terrific teacher, though I thought she was a bit of a tough grader on essays. But she worked a lot with me outside of class and I did okay in the end. She also cares about helping students get jobs and provided me with good advice for that. She is very respected in politics and is a good person to have in yuour corner.
Got me a fantastic internship. Prof. Harrison really helped me sort out career goals, and inspired me to pursue my dream and them helped me do it. I am so glad I took both Am Govt and the internship class with her. She's can be your best advocate.
Professor Harrison definitely is an expert in her field. I'll start with the textbook. Expensive. She wrote it herself so you know that she makes you read it. Her tests are very difficult only due to the fact that she tests you on sub-topics that are barely talked about. She treats this class like a 300 level course.
She can be a tough grader but she really motivates you to work hard, learn, and think about what you want to do. I would definitely take another class with her. She comes off intimidating at first, but by the end you realize that she will help you in every way she can.
Professor Harrison is really respected by her students because she truly knows a lot about the subject she is teaching. She is a Harvard graduate and her quizzes come straight from the vocab and notes she teaches. Easy A and most of the time you don't have to show up for class. Easiest class I've taken at Montclair. You rarely have to study.
Dr. Harrison is an amazing professor. Yes, she can be a bit demanding and looks intimidating in the beginning, but as the semester goes, you'll see that she's a sweetheart. She gives 4 quizzes, and drops the lowest score. Not much assignments. She does play a movie, and we did some fun games as well. Would definitely recommend her anytime.
One word: AMAZING
She is knows her stuff. Class usually ends a half hour early. The quizzes are harder than the exams. If you don't show up, will be hard to pass
There's only one way to pass Dr. Harrison's class; show up and take notes, go home and ready the chapter's assigned. She is a tough teacher don't get me wrong but she is good, her quizzes are a bit tough however are not crucial to passing, however it obviously helps. She has a strict technology policy, no laptops or phones. Would take again.
I have to admit that I was very intimidated at first, but in the end she wound up being my favorite professor at MSU. She knows so much, and is so articulate. Quizzes were tough at first, but she will take time and work with you individually so that you understand the material. I love seeing her on t.v. or reading about her in the paper - so cool
This course was harder than I expected but in the end I learned a lot from Dr. Harrison. I think it's pretty awesome that this person I saw on t.v. and read in the news was teaching this course She gives great, interesting lectures and was always available to talk with me after class. I would change the group work but she's pretty amazing.
By far one of the worst professors I've ever had at MSU. Her quizzes are a lot harder than the midterm and final. She is knowledgeable when it comes to political science, don't get me wrong. She's just a tough grader, and a tough person overall. If you want to take her, make sure you read and attend every class.
I learned so much in this class, and from someone on TV with real world experience. I took it because it fit my schedule but I got very interested in politics and may even change my major. She knows an incredible amount. I disagree with no laptop policy, but she's the best prof at MSU.
Prof. Harrison really cares about the material she's teaching and takes her classes very seriously even if you don't. Her lectures are entertaining enough to keep you focused, but don't look at your phone because she will throw you out if she catches you. There are 4 quizzes (she drops the lowest one) and the midterm and final are just two essays.
She's the best -- who women want to be, & guys want to marry. She's got her act together & helps you get yours together too. She' ll make you think about what you want, who you want to be, what you value. In the end she makes you understand the power of your own choices in school, work, & politics. If you get into her class you are #blessed.
Knows what she is talking about. Show up to class you'll do great.
Dr. Harrison & this class changed my life. I gained a lot of experience & confidence. At first I was uncomfortable working on a campaign & attending lectures but it turned into my favorite part. I gained a lot of connections & even was offer a job. Dr. Harrison cares about students, has great connections and is so respected in the political field
The worst professor I have taken at MSU. She is rude, not helpful, and just thinks she's the best gift to the planet. She also says her views a lot in class which she shouldn't. Don't take if you don't have to.
Not very nice. Waited weeks into my last semester as a political science senior to assign me my required internship and then blamed me for being behind on assignments? Gave me a B- for a 4-5 credit senior intnshp that I completed to a T.
Well, in my online class the entire class cheated including me on using a groupchat. Professor Callahan Harrison caught us. I know alot on my classmates will go on an blast her as tough and impossible but honestly I deserved the trouble I got in and also I think that I was on a slipery slope with online classes and she set me on the right path.
Youll learn a little bit about how government works. The structure and stuff. The class isnt easy though. This isnt an easy A class. There are much easier classes to fill up credits. I wish I took a filler class
COVID semester Class alternates between quiz and discussion question assignments. She lectured 2 to 3 times max, very rude, and very unorganized. This is a reading heavy class, which most POLS classes are, but that does not give her an excuse to not teach esp with a quiz every other week. Be prepared to teach yourself and get yelled at a lot! 0/10
She only gave maybe two or three lectures during the whole semester. We had to read a 500 page book along with the regular textbook. She is unorganized and has taken it out on students and was rather rude. I know Covid is hitting us all hard but that is no excuse to chew out students in front of everyone on Zoom. That's embarrassing for us and her.
Super organized course, and very understanding. She knows her material. I don't like on-line classes but she outlined expectations and gave great well-organized lectures. I really enjoyed this class and learned alot about how government works.
probably the worst professor ill ever have. Shes knowledgeable, but extremely disrespectful and rude. has ridiculous class rules and thinks everything revolves around her. im so disappointed in myself for not dropping this class when i had the chance.
She is the absolute worse. Very unprofessional and unorganized. TONS of reading & she expects a lot. Her quizzes were almost every week and everyone would fail. She simply does not care about her students. If you can avoid taking her, please do so at all costs!! I failed her quizzes so badly (even after studying for forever) and I withdrew
helpful, organized, compassionate, interesting, inspired me to do bettr, understanding. overall she's great and i loved the class despite zoom.
At first, it was a bit rocky, her introduction was not the best. But she does grow on you. She is an awesome professor, explains well, grades on time. An exceptional professor
I wasn't looking forward to this class but am very glad I took it with Professor Harrison. SHe explained so much of what was going on in the world. she was very caring about people's individual situations during Covid. She actually made Zoom classes enjoyable. I would absolutely take her again esp in person.
Unprofessional, zero due process, speaks down to students, believes she is above everyone, and has no world experience, spent too long behind the comfort of a university. She would utterly fail in the workforce world.
Great lectures that I still think about. She was also very helpful in securing internships. She's not a pushover but she genuinely wants her students to succeed and tries to create knowledge and habits that will help them be successful.
Just a good person. This was a tough semester, and Professor Harrison got that it was hard on everyone. She was very compasionate and tried to take care of us as people not just shove POLISCI down our throats. It was my favorite class and she is brilliant when it comes to government and history but also she's a nice person.
Great! Very insightful, a good way to review before tests is to check the key terms in the McGraw Hill textbook. Doesn't have a preference for students. Her lectures are nonpartisan. She is here to teach! Im a polisci major, such a delightful class.
There is no doubt that this woman wants her students to succeed. I really enjoyed this class. Her lectures are great. She encouraged students to think for themselves and she encouraged people to disagree but be respectful. I know she privately helped some of my classmates who were really struggling with stress and anxiety and personal issues.
I loved studying under Professor Brigid Harrison. She's made a good impression on me. She's knowledgable, and not unkind. Very straightforward and gives honest feedback. You will have to study, but she makes understanding politics so clear and personally her feedback has driven me. One of my favorite professors so far.
I have taken Dr. Harrison for three courses and she literally changed my life. I wasn;t even sure I would finish school and she made me realize that all my work was worth it. In the last semester she helped me with an internship that led to a job that honestly I never even dreamed I could get.
She has mellowed out a lot sinceI first took her during covid. She set me up with a fire internship and guided me through it. She has a good political network and she took a lot of time to explain different aspects of the job/expectations with me. She is great for helping you get your career launched. She cares about her students.
Very mean, avoid at all costs literally take anybody else. Should not be a professor. -1000000000/10
Rude!!
Honestly she's the best. Really cares about her students. Super helpful using her vast network to get students internships and jobs. A little intimidating but only because she's so smart. But once you get to know her she is really very kind and compassionate.
In campaign politics, I was impressed by her connections in the community. My first internship didn't work out because my work scheduled changed and she was very compassionate and quickly was able to get me another internship. She cares a lot about her students and has a great network she is willing to share. Plus I really learned alot.
Professor Harrison's POL101 class was engaging and eye-opening. Her lectures were comprehensive, and she encouraged critical thinking. The workload was manageable, and resources like unstuckstudy helped with study prep. Definitely a class worth taking.
This asynchronous class requires an expensive McGraw Hill textbook. Weekly assignments that take at least 1-2 hours minimum, includes a reading and lengthy question exercise. Take notes on the readings because the exams are extremely hard. Even with notes most of the class struggled. The material was decently interested.
Prof. Harrison is very kind and caring despite her hard tests. This online class requires u to buy an expensive book which is one thing I disliked. It was worth around $125, and it wasn't worth it at all. You will be taking all exams on there and the exam is very lengthy and requires webcam so be careful of cheating. The final really killed me.
The professor is great, but not the class. Weekly assignment that takes 1-2 hours to complete. It's very boring and honestly a waste of time but it was also easy. The tests however are extremely hard. The final was 70 MC questions and 2 essays. You really need to study to pass. Don't rely on cheating or AI because you will be caught. BEWARE!
The professor is very nice, but you don't wanna to think about her exams. They are very hard. The only way you can pass her lengthy tests is if you memorize the entire book. Very strict with a.i. , but she gives many chances. She cares about her students. I ended up with a C even though it was suppose to be higher but I'll take it.
I just love her. She really helped me think about my life and my whole college career and im grateful.
