Great teacher. Offers lots of opportunities to raise grade. Optional final to drop lowest exam grade. She's really funny. Group discussions every class. You can use a notecard on each final. Gives a 5-10 minute break every class.

This was one of my favorite classes I took at MCC! She teaches through class discussion and PowerPoint presentations that she puts up online and emails to students. I didn't buy the textbook and I got an A. If you pay attention & study the PowerPoints, you will pass.

Amazing class! I am taking her class right now and she is the most caring teacher I have ever had. She cares about you and your well being. She loves what she does. Se is a little bit of a nut but she has good lectures and offer a lot of extra credit. Tests are easy and the final isn't mandatory. If I could, I would take this again. 10/10!!!!

I took her class online. She was very clear on assignments, but is there to answer any questions you may have. Because it was online, there was a lot of reading out of the textbook, but her tests were very straightforward. I would definitely take another class with her.

Professor Dyer is amazing. Although her syllabus says there are no make-up exams, I was able to take mine in the Testing Center in the library because I was very sick on the test day. She is very accomodating and accessible. She will answer your emails and is available after class to talk to. She is upbeat and passionate about what she teaches.

All of her power-points and exam reviews are listed online as well as reviewed within class. She has a great sense of humor and loves to connect to students so don't be shy to speak up! Amazing professor!

Dyer is one of my favorite professors. 3 homework assignments which were easy but needed to be read by the Reading and Writing Studio or points were taken off. Attendance was considered a grade, 4 points a day I think. Attendance taken twice. 4-5 tests, able to use a notecard. 4/5 test scores counted, I didn't take the final exam. Very funny, smart

Dyer gives clear, detailed lectures - so I learned a lot of info that'll be useful, not just in other classes, but in my everyday life. She's naturally funny, a fair grader, and also not a bigot. So, people of any race, class, sexuality, etc. are more likely to feel safe contributing to class discussions. Overall, she's cool.

Ms. Dyer is great, I'd take her again in a heartbeat if I needed another SOCY class. She tries her best to make class fun, in an "embarrassing Mom" sort of way. She really knows her stuff and is helpful when you don't understand or have questions. Read the chapter before class and you should do fine. Several in-class assignments and group work.

I had professor Dyer for Sociology 1010 online and I loved her. This was my first ever online class and with dedication and a little bit of work, an A is 100% obtainable. She offers extra credit and gets back to students quickly and leaves good feedback. I would recommend her to anyone looking to take sociology.

Professor Dyer is a nice teacher. She is very clear with her instructions. Offered a community service day for extra credit. Weekly discussions with responses, a couple of essays, timed quizzes. Slide show lecture. Plenty of time to complete assignments. Would recommend her as a teacher and would take her again.

Very sweet professor and not a difficult class at all. I found the lectures to be interesting and informative. You could tell she really cares about the social problems she teaches about in class. Homework assignments had very clear guidelines and grading criteria.

I absolutely loved my class with professor dyer. The class is super straight forward, 1-2 chapters each week, a quiz and discussion board each week. You'll also watch 2 movies and write 2 essays. Overall loved this class. You will have to participate to pass, do the discussions and study for quizzes and you'll easily pass with an A. + extra credit!

The class was enjoyable, and professor Dyer graded fairly. She offers extra credit in the form of volunteer work which is neat. Aside from reading the book, you write two essays and watch two movies (both of which are on Netflix). Very enlightening class!

Took this class online. I did pretty well and didn't have to try terribly hard. I ended up with a 89% at the end, and during evaluation you evaluate yourself and I was able to convince her to give me and A with effort and attendance and what not so I'm very happy with the way things turned out. She was always telling us she was available if needed.

Prof. Dyer is a master of her field. She is passionate about sociology and teaching. The class covers so many interesting topics and it is not boring by any means. She gives numerous extra credit opportunities. She is such a wonderful instructor. Caring, compassionate, clear and respectable. She's amazing. Can't say enough great things about her!!!

You'll also watch 2 movies and write 2 essays. There is 4-5 extra credit opportunities. An A is defiantly obtainable if you put in a little work.

This professor is very fair. As long as you do what she asks, which is not much at all, you will succeed. It really is that simple! She always gives feedback which is nice, and made me feel like she actually cared! Loved this class.

Great professor. In the 8 week course youll have a discussion post and two quizzes each week. Some weeks there is an short essay assignment and one quiz instead of the two. She is very clear on grading criteria. As long as you get things in on time and follow the directions, youll pass with an A. Extra credit is also offered.

I took professor Dyer for Socy2550, super easy just follow her instructions do not go into the class trying to debate or argue simply follow the instructions. Go 1-2 sentences over on essays to assure you met the length requirements. Message her for clarity, she is a fast and efficient responder, the class is very eye opening. Would take her again

I recently took Professor Dyer for SOCY 1100, and she was one of the best professors I've had so far. Her assignments are straightforward and not a large load. She provides three opportunities for extra credit and gives individual feedback as well! Participating in weekly discussion forums was informative! I recommend taking this course with her!

Thanks to this teacher, I wanted to study more and more Sociology. The lessons were fun, everything was clear. All assignments were clearly explained. She is just as involved in the maximum score as you are.

Took Prof. Dyer for 2 classes this semester(SOCY1100 & SOCY2550) and she is amazing. Class was a breeze if you read the textbook and powerpoints. 2 essays per semester where you have to interview 3 people. A weekly quiz and discussion but she gives a ton of extra credit. I highly recommend her classes, you will learn a lot of valuable information!

Dr. Dyer was a very personably and understanding professor. Grading criteria is pretty transparent, and the papers aren't hard at all. Multiple choice tests are good, along with the fact that she lets you use a 3x5 notecard on each one. One class a week was kinda difficult though as she did cancel class a few times, so try for 2x a week if you can.

I took SOCY 2550 Race and Ethnic Relations with Professor Dyer online for an 8 week course. This class was laid out in a way that was very manageable between my other classes. The work load is not overwhelming and the content really makes you think. I enjoyed this class and learned a lot!

Dr. Dyer was an amazing professor. The class was easy to follow and you can do very well in it as long as you put in the time and work. Reading is required to do well, the chapters are interesting though which makes it much easier to get through. There was 2 required essays as well as an extra credit essay.

You will need to get the textbook, as you will not really be able to get by with not reading the textbook for the discussions at least. I would definitely recommend taking this class.

8 weeks, it is not hard at all. Everything is pretty much clear. You have a discussion where you have to reply to two people and a quiz every week with only 20 questions for 45 minutes but she lets you use notes and whatever else to help. You have 2 interview essays where you just ask 3 friends 2 questions, 3 pages. Very easy and good feedback.

Dr. Dyer was an amazing instructor. Just enough engagement to keep you learning, not overloaded to cause stress. Plenty of opportunity for extra credit and always gave feedback so you can correct or keep on track! Very responsive to email and engaged!

if you are considering sociology, i 100% recommend taking it with dyer! she made class interesting & made it so i never had to dread showing up. she also has a very nice & funny personality, which i appreciate. the workload was very manageable and we had two essays over the semester. would definitely take another class with her!!!

Taking this course online was shortened from 16 weeks to 8 weeks so it is accelerated. If you keep up with the textbook readings and discussion forums, you should do great in the class. There are only 2 essays throughout the entire semester and Professor Dyer does offer extra credit and she also gives great feedback on your work.

I took Socy 2550 as an online-only class. Professor Dyer was prompt with responses to questions I had and offered lots of extra credit. My final grade was higher than 100%. I enjoyed the class.

Had a good time in this class. The answers to the quizzes aren't always easy to find. I did the only class and you get 2 chapters of reading, a discussion post, and a quiz every week. For two of the weeks we only had 1 chapter and a essay due. Not a lot of work and easy concepts!

Super easy class! It's the same work every week, which is a nice schedule. The only thing I didn't like was the 2 essays, but its college you're going to have to write essays.

I usually hate doing discussion posts but I enjoyed her prompts and questions we had to answer. They helped me learn. Quizzes were simple and easy. You will get an A easily with a little bit of effort and time. It is obvious she cares and wants you to learn. Wish I had another class with her!

Professor Dyer's online classwork consisted of discussions, weekly quizzes, two essays, and a good amount of extra credit. So, it was pretty easy and not overworking or stressful! The class itself was very interesting plus Professor Dyer was always nice and had a discussion board where we could ask questions if we ever needed help! Loved the class!

Dr.Dyer knows what she is doing can be a little strict sometimes and does not give good feedback but other than that this class was not hard at all. Each week she would give 2 quizzes and a DB, and when she would assign an essay she would only give one quiz with it. She also gives lots of extra credit if anyone needs it. Would take again.

This professor was great her readings was very interesting and inspiring. She grades fast and response to emails fairly quickly. She does have a strict grading system so you will definitely need you book for citations and quoting. otherwise, you will be fine highly recommended and given the opportunity I would definitely take the class again.

Brigit Dyer is seriously one of the best profs at Macomb. He grades super fair and always gives you feedback. Plus, he hands out a ton of extra credit! He doesn't pile on the workload either. His quizzes are straight from his PowerPoints, so it's chill. If you're busy and want to vibe with an easygoing professor, don't think twice—he's the GOAT!

Pretty easy class with easy exams. Every exam she allowed one notecard, offered 10 True or False extra credit points, and provided a study guide straight from her power points. Attendance is graded at the end of the semester, and the only con would be the 2 or 3 essays. Overall, nice lady.

I had Dr. Dyer for the fully remote course SOCY 1100 for Spring/Summer 2025. Dr. Dyer uses films and articles to engage class in outside material other than just the PowerPoints/Chapters for a full understanding of the content. Could not recommend her enough! She genuinely cares about her students success and thoroughly listens to their concerns.
