Pretty easy teacher. Good guy, but rather passive. Lets people get away with saying obnoxious things. Very helpful with writing etc.

Fun, and interesting. Very discussion-based teaching style.

Really helpful, laid back and friendly but he does let students get away with too much. I was in the honors section and still felt the class was much easier than work I did in high school.

Very helpful, nice, and intelligent. He is a critical thinker and his teaching style reflects this characteristic. All in all, he is a great teacher.

Core class is a horrible formatted waste of time. Lunine couldn't change that, but he gives you a lot of space and time. Definitely go to his office hours. He is very helpful, he will go over your paper sentence by sentence.

he's awesome. anytime you have a problem with an assignment he's helpful. also pretty entertaining, and facilitates interesting discussions.

Brij is the shizznit. He's the coolest prof. @ ucsc. Knew alot about hip-hop and has one of the most interesting classes at the school. The only problem with brij is that his classes are so full becasue everyone wants in. Wasup Brij, Its Justin!!

Class was easy, topic was interesting and brij is cool. Made class not so boring by listening to some hip hop and a couple movies. Only thing was it's a writing class and i didnt learn anything new about writing?? oh well, the class is tight if u can get in!

Brij is a grea professor, he goes out of his way to help anyone and is more than willing to negotiate. I had no interest in the class but due to Brij's enthusiasm as well as my classmates have grown to like it. If you can get a class with Brij even one you're not interested in its well worth it

Very good professor. He is very understanding about you as a individual rather than just any average student. Very helpful, and his method of teaching the class is very interesting. Even if the subject is not interesting to you, I bet the class still won't be boring.

I have a secret uber-crush on Brij Lunine. Brij is a wonderful professor. His subject material is always engaging and interesting, but luckily, Brij brings an even greater energy to his classes because he is knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. I definitely recommend taking a class with him if you can.

if we had a blender, brij would be the product of a pro skateboarder, wise old man, party dj, average joe and a cool dad. brij's a good guy, he knows his stuff and he makes the effort to help you out and get you engaged on whats what.

I took his writing class last year and it was by far one of my favorite classes ever. Not to mention the fact that I too have a secret uber-crush on Brij. It just can't be helped because he's that amazing.

I had Brij for 80A/81B and he is such an amazing professor. He's extremely helpful and always eager to helop his students. Brij doesn't give grades on your papers but instead, he comments on what you could improve on. Your final grade is based on your effort and improvement in writing so utilize office hours and writing group sessions.

He's a superb teacher. He's an incredibly nice, down-to-earth, and approachable guy. His knowledge is deep and extensive. He relates extremely well to college students. The workload wasn't bad relative to other Writ 2s. A few bad, nitpicky things i.e. unclear due dates but just email him. I really MISS his class. I Highly recommend him.

He grades fairly, and is very approachable. Great guy, and great professor. I've loved alot of my professors but, Brij is just...wow. Take his class!

I was annoyed to have to take the writing courses, as i'm sure most are. But we know it is a good idea for fresh college students to start with writing (some of us desperately need it). I of course wasn't one that did, so having Brij teaching the class not only made it barrable but made me forget my disinclination. Brij IS the man!

Brij is a GREAT professor. Very engaging and provides interesting reading material. One of the few classes where I felt passionate about the writing I was doing and Brij is 100% responsible for creating an environment where this could happen. I hope to take another class by him before I graduate.

Awesome professor! Very clear readings and very helpful and understanding of student necessities. If you're a transfer and need to take the STARS course, I'd highly suggest taking the class with him, and not the seminars during move in week.

Excellent Professor! his work is doable and he is very understanding when a students is struggling. The attendance, you can miss a class or two but just let him know before hand and do your best make up for what you miss. He also takes the time to get to know his students to a personal level in order to give them better advice.

His class may contain material that does not initially appeal to you, but Brij does a great job of making it better. Also the "I really want to blaze with him" review is super hilarious yet true!

Brij is great. He cares immensely for a student's progress and always checks up on them constantly. His class consisted of a lot of busy work, but nothing that was downright awful. He's accurate in guessing when someone stayed up the night before at like 2 AM writing an essay, so don't think you'll squeak by like that. Definitely take his class.

Great professor, took him for Writing 20 and Stevenson Core. Very accommodating with his office hours and is there to help you. Keeps class and paper topics interesting.

Brij was an awesome professor. The coursework itself was quite boring but he made it very enjoyable. There was homework every class but it was pretty easy for the most part, usually a reading along with exercises and then one final paper.

Brij is a very nice and caring person and wants to teach you the material without giving you a ton of work outside of class. Assigns podcasts and articles to read for HW and there normally isn't a lot of reading. He tries to provide pdfs. Came from C10 Core and Writ 2 was easy. Attendance mandatory. Final is a research paper and presentation.

Amazing professor who legitimately cares about his students and is completely willing to work with you. His grading is clear, fair, and simple. As long as you put an effort in all your assignments, youre assured an A and a good learning experience

Brij is definitely the most understanding professor I've had during my time at UCSC. Very nice, very funny. Some busy work at the beginning of the quarter but doesn't last the entire quarter. Mostly graded on a few big assignments that are not super difficult. Overall I'd definitely recommend him!

Brij Lunine is one of my favorite professors I've had to date. As long as you actually do all of his assignments, he grades extremely fairly. I took this class during the COVID epidemic, and he was one of the few professors who tried to be as accommodating as possible to individual students circumstances. Would highly recommend.

Brij is a fantastic professor who really cares about his students and does what he can to make the classes and homework accessible, interesting, and informative. Brij assigns a lot of papers but gives good feedback and is willing to push back due dates if you are having a hard time and ask him in advance. He truly wants the students to enjoy class.

He provides great feedback on your papers, even hosting conferences and several OH's so that you can improve. You can tell he really cares about his students and is amazing to work with. Professor Lunine is a fun and a caring professor when I took his class for Stev 26. He does offer plentiful of extra credit assignments, which will be great if you want to boost up your grades. Homework load isn't too difficult, as most of the time you would read articles and express your thoughts on the articles. Overall, a fun, pretty chill class

I took Brij's Writ 2 class because of his rate my professor, and he absolutely lived up to his reputation. I wouldn't miss the opportunity to take his class if you're trying to narrow down which prof to enroll with. There's seemingly more homework than other courses, but it's to your benefit as he grades the work leading up to larger assignments.

Brij is the best professor I've had hands down. Writ 2 is a hard class, but Brij explains how to do well in the class and gives multiple chances to improve grades. He's always available through email and office hours are a great resource. When I got covid he helped me catch up after I had gotten over it. Highly recommend his classes.

I loved Brij so much this quarter! I showed up to class early to just talk with him about unrelated things to the class. You have to be on top of your assignments as some of them are very quick to pass. The way he handled the major paper of the class was amazing, breaking it up into smaller assignments. It's the reason I produced such a good essay.

Brij is absolutely wonderful. Assignments are difficult sometimes, but he's really good about answering emails (even on weekends) so just shoot him one and you should be good. He's very willing to learn about his students' interests even if they're new to him and is generally a great guy. Take him if you can! You won't regret it.

This is what a model professor is, at the beginning of the quarter, i suffered some loss and Brij was there to support me along every step of the way. He actually gives proper feed back to every paper and there are never any guesses as to why you got a grade. His modules also make you learn and take you among every step of the writing process.

W prof, very chill and supportive prof, cracks up lots of jokes, makes you feel included and motivated a lot going to class (I had his class in the morning), always willing to help students in and out of class, he brought in the author for Great Hanoi Rat Hunt as a guest speaker and it was such a great experience, don't sleep on the assignments tho

Prof Lunine is a sweet, energetic presence. He's always ready to help with a smile on his face. It's obvious that he wants to see students succeed, and he's happy to discussing your writing with you. He gives a considerable amount of assignments leading up to every paper, but they're never "busy work" but all meant to help with the final product.
