I took Professor Michelsen's class online over the summer. The class work was well paced and Professor Michelsen was on point with responding to emails. Was also very helpful in answering questions and assisting with directions regarding the course work. Yes there is a lot of busy work but what do you expect from a condensed online class!
Gives her own definitions and opinions on things and does not tell the correct definition. Very boring Lecturer. Does not respond to emails quickly. Not clear with what she wants, ever.
outstanding online instructor. provides everything to be successful in her class. Read the material she provides. Very fair and gives great feedback.
I was overwhelmed when I saw the syllabus but its well planned out. her class is easy but you must follow her due dates! her class is based on attendance and quizes... youll be safe in her class though. She says book is needed, but this topic is so broad that you can find info about her topics online.
Tests are long, but they're take home and pretty easy. She makes the subject matter interesting. She's always eager to help if you need it. Would definitely take her again.
took online. goes out of her way to help students. very involved with the class. at first it seems like a lot of work but it really ins't once you get to doing it. Don't bother reading the text book. Definitely enhanced my knowledge and changed my outlook on government
Her class is super easy if you show up everyday and take the daily quizzes which are based on participation because she goes over them before you turn them in! Tests are long but they are all online and there is no time limit. You don't really need to use the textbook, just your personal opinions and the Internet! (: Made an A in her class
Fantastic professor! Took 6 week online class. 5 open booknote unit tests (50%), 5 response 250-400word essays w discussion (35%). quizes for each chapter (15%). Very easy A+ as long as you do the work. Easy discussion grader with great feedback on work! Greatly expanded my knowledge on Federal government and inspired me to learn! Take her!
She was all over the place with her lectures. She never made any sense.
Professor Britt is very passionate about Ethics. Her lectures are long, but HER CLASS IS SUPER EASY!!! All of her exams are open book and taken online. As long as you do the homework, show up to class, participate in the lectures, read the articles, and take the tests you will earn an A in this class.
All over the place! Not a good lecturer very confusing. Gives no useful information in class. Read the book thoroughly to pass. A few essays. Tests are online about 80 questions. Due dates are flexible. Ask for help and you will receive it. Best way to pass is just read the book. Would not recommend.
Professor Michelsen knows her stuff. She is there for her students and makes herself available If you need help, whether its in class or in her office and she even offers more than that. There were 3 test and 3 essay for the whole semester.
If you genuinely want to learn philosophy then don't take her. If your willing to show up and sit through confusing lectures then it should be an easy A. Test are online (including the final) but they're not the easiest to find on the internet and she says she teaches it but she doesn't so basically you have to teach yourself.
Very smart, lovely accent. Enjoyed listening to her lectures. Very fair and open. Gives good feedback in a timely manner. Would def take her again. The material is boring but this is a super easy A.
Awesome teacher! A lot of group discussions about major issues concerning "freedom" we as humans are entitled to. And what is "right and wrong" concerning ethics and morality. There are 3 or 4 papers, test online (yay for open book test!) and she explains the concept of philosophy very well. Wonderful teacher, learned a lot!
Mrs. Michelsen is a great teacher who as long as you do your work will let you pass with a fair grade.
Britt was amazing. Hands down best teacher I have ever had. She truly cared about how her students were doing and was willing to help us with anything. She was so kind and helpful in the feedback she gave us on papers. Truly took the time to look at each individual one and help you to the best of her ability. For sure take her!
This teacher thinks that only her opinion matters and no one elses. I took her for Spring 2018 and my goodness she is the queen of critiquing. She gives 3 page long feedbacks to every discussion post and essay students do. Be prepared to do a test, journal, and a 18 sentence length discussion post with two replies to two other posts each week.
The course work looks like a lot but she sections it off to make it VERY manageable. I took Phil 1301 as a summer mini. There is only 1 discussion, 1 quiz, and 1 dropbox doc per week. She gives you 2 chances to take every quiz (including the final) and the drop box docs are just responding to end of section questions. SUPER EASY. TAKE THIS CLASS.
I have not found a professor that is as skilled as a professor as Mrs. Michelsen. I came to her class thinking that I knew a lot, and boy was I knocked on my fanny. I left with a fresh perspective that is helping me in all of my classes a year later. I will keep my coffee stained spiral from this class for the times to come. Read; come to class.
Took Phil 1301 online, Fall '18, 16 wks class, Offers extra credit, responds timely, works with you and your concerns, gives constructive feedback each week. I would take her again and recommend. I learned much and enjoyed her and the class. She really does care and wants to help.
Online Class. At first it was tricky to understand, but it gets better then more you practice. Per week you do 1 Discussion Post, 1 Assignment Paper (300 words), 1 Quiz. And a Final Exam/Essay paper in the end. ALL OPEN BOOK. As long as you have the Book you'll be okay. Philosophy is a lot of thinking but put in the time and effort you'll pass.
She is absolutely amazing! I took her class online for summer and it was a breeze. Her study plan is well organized and she gives great feedback to help you understand! EXTRA CREDIT, TWO ATTEMPTS on test! Just be able to discuss what you are reading and you will pass!
This was the best online class that I've had. Her feedback is sometimes longer than my post and is very positive and encouraging. There were a lot of deep questions that gave me a better understanding of philosophy. She gives very clear instructions on how to do assignments. Do the work and you will learn a lot!
Professor Michelson gave feedback for all discussions and assignments, which was helpful. I usually hate online classes, but this one was great and I learned a lot. Fairly light workload for a summer class.
Easily the best professor I've ever had. It may have been an online class, but her feedback and response time was phenomenal. She graded fairly and gave opportunities for extra credit. When I had a death in the family this semester, she was extremely understanding. There's more than enough time to do assignments, and there are extensions if needed!
Britt was a wonderful professor! Every week there's a discussion post with at least 150 words, a quiz with 25-27 questions with 1 being a bonus and an essay. It's a bit of work but you have all week so don't procrastinate! I never thought philosophy was something i'd be into but she's made it super interesting. Easy grader and wonderful feedback!!!
Online class. Power-points/videos/book. Use the resources. Do the work/you should pass the class. Quizzes/final-open book.1 chapter a week. Discussions & Essays each week. Professor Michelsen was accessible outside of business hours ovided good feedback/helped to keep me on track. Extra credit was a plus. Stay on track & you should do fine.
Test, discussion, and journal every week. The test is open book, the discussions can be cool, and the journal sometimes is the hardest one. The powerpoints are lengthy and sometimes confusing. The textbook is EXTREMELY helpful. I wish she would find other teaching methods for online classes.
Firstly, Professor Michelsen gives amazing feedback! For the amount of time you will put in on your assignments and discussion posts, know that she will take the time to provide in depth feedback. However, my primary issue was the sheer amount of content there was. Be prepared to do lots of writing and reading!
She is such a great philosophy professor! each week you will have 3 assignments! if you are ever stuck on a topic just email her and she will email you back with more of an explanation!! All quizzes and final is open book/open notes. On the quizzes she also lets you know if the answers will be found in her powerpoint or the textbook.
I was able to only select three tags, but I'll put the rest I am able to- amazing lectures and caring. I took her class online so I can't testify to the other tags that involve in class or at least on campus activities, but it was a great class and definitely worth taking!
Professor Michelsen is GREAT! She is very organized and offers more than enough information to pass the class with an A. There are a few PowerPoints to read through each week which are between 30-45 slides, but full of great information. Download the PowerPoints and buy a PDF version of the textbook to help with quizzes and exams!! Do extra credit!
Professor Michelsen is an amazing professor who only wants to see you succeed. She is always there to provide extra help. She even called me over the weekend once to explain over the phone as I was confused. Philosophy by itself is difficult, but she makes it a lot easier. Nicest professor ever!
I chose this class because of the previous ratings. Class is very time-consuming. No lectures from her. Each PP is 30-50p/3-5 a wk. Tons of videos not from her. Quizzes from PP and book. Yes open book, but hard. Not in Quizlet. Papers wkly w/ DP. Not interesting for me at all. She is nice and caring. But be prepared. No extra credit. A, so far.
too many discussions and essays
Out of all the professors Ive had, Professor Michelsen is the most sincerely considerate and kind. For students, shes a literal dream because she grades in an extremely timely manner (usually 2 days after submission) and she gives extremely in depth feedback. She has an extremely kind heart and takes into consideration any issues students have.
fall semester online. You do a short 350-word essay every 2 weeks over things like Personal Identity, what defines something bad and good. Every week there will be one online quiz / retake up to 3 times.120 word group discussion every week and 50 word response to 2 people. I loved the class and the topics that I had to think about. Would take again
I'm writing this review a year after I had this professor, but I wanted to leave a review anyways. VERY time consuming if you want to actually learn. VERY PPT oriented but I just watched the videos, I LEARNED SO MUCH, and passed this class. OPEN BOOK, TAKE NOTES, PAY ATTENTION! Almost considered changing my Major to Philosophy after this class.
Professor Michelsen is a great instructor. She outlines all you need and follows the syllabus. Would take her course again.
One of the best professors I have taken yet. This is not a blow off class, but if you do the work and pay attention to the feedback you will do well. I wish I had taken this class my first semester instead of my last one. I can't say enough good thigs about Professor Michelsen
Such an awesome professor. There are a lot of PowerPoints, but the required textbook is really easy to read and understand. She is very willing to work with/around her student's schedules. I would 500% take her again.
I usually hate online classes because it deals like you are taking a class from computer. Britt is the first professor I have ever taken an online class with that makes you feel like you are actually going to class every week. She responds to you individually on every discussion post about what you posted and your responses to other peoples posts.
Hands down the BEST professor I had. Professor Michelsen's class was so easy! Read what is expected of you, study, and participate! I went into this class thinking it would be hard when it wasn't at all. Yes, there are a lot of discussions and yes there are a lot of essays, but they are to HELP you improve, to do better. Would 10/10 do it again!
She was an AMAZING professor and the best you could take for a philosophy course. She leaves constructive criticism on all discussion posts and essays, which are ALWAYS educational, kind, and informative. The communication, structure, and organization of the curriculum that she teaches are AMAZING. A good amount of PowerPoints! TAKE HER CLASS!!!
I haven't even finished this class yet, but so far this professor is awesome! I am taking her class online, but so far she has been the most engaging online professor that I've ever taken. She takes time to give great feedback individually to every discussion post and paper, facilitates discussion with respect, and offers thoughtful encouragment.
She is a very caring professor that is always available to be reached by email. There are a lot of power points to be read for lecture but if you keep up it isn't too much. Weekly discussions and quizzes are easy if you read the powerpoint and watch the additional videos she provides. Extra credit is easy to obtain if you write great.
Probably one of the best online classes I've taken! Professor Michelsen is very engaging: she's super sweet and knowledgeable, provides detailed feedback, and is easily reached by email. The work for this class includes a discussion post, at least two replies, and an open book quiz every week, as well as six papers in total. Be prepared to write.
I am someone that always has something going on, always. Professor Britt was the most caring professor i have ever had. She's the type of instructor that genuinely cares about you passing and if you are ok. If i was late, she'd email me and say she pushed the deadline. Her stuff is easy-ish, if you keep up with it! Truly an amazing professor!!
Incredible professor, and I wish they taught upper-level courses. They provide long and detailed feedback on assignments, adding nuance and context to your arguments. The coursework itself is straightforward (open-note), so passing isn't challenging, but it's an intro. If you have complex or challenging views, this professor listens to them.
