Very hard material taught by the best professor at UT.

Great guy. One of the fairest teachers I've ever had.

i enjoyed dr. shirley and his class. he uses alot of real world examples and lets us know what we are responsible for. he is interested in his students and i like that!

I dreaded this class but it was much better than I thought it would be.

I don't understand why somebody would call Dr. Shirley a weirdo. He tries to make the class interesting and keep us awake with jokes. It didn't always work but I appreciated the effort! Plus he has cute dimples when he laughs! If you go to class and take notes and you will do OK and maybe even enjoy the class.

Great professor! Highly recommend! Britt is helpful and funny at the same time. I was in his GTW class so I’m only writing this because I know how much he loves to read his comments on RateMyProfessors.

This class was tough but he is enthusiastic and helpful.

Everything I heard about this class was true. It was alot of work but Dr. Shirley did a wonderful job. I am glad I have this class out of the way but I would like to take another class with him.

Dr. Shirley is very helpful and knowledgeable. he makes operations management at least tolerable. his enthusiasm and natural humor are very endearing qualities. I highly recomend his class as i've heard horror stories about other professors.

Aside from him being an easy going guy he was a very good teacher. He gave good examples in class and followed them up w/ extra practice on BB. He responded to email and his tests were straight forward thus easy. Its worth taking him even it ends up being for a lousy 3HR night section!

This was supposed to be a hard class. However, Dr. Shirley explained the material wonderfully. I did great in the class, although I didn't expect it. Excellent teacher!

I have heard horror stories about this class, but Shirley made it so easy. He makes the material easy to grasp and he explains it crystal clear. I had heard how tough this class was but Dr. Shirley made it not so bad. His exams were not easy but they came from his lectures and he puts the slides and more problems online. We would spend a class period going over each exam and that helped me understand the material better.

Dr. Shirley is a great professor. He gives a lot of good examples which are very helpful. His tests are easy, if you simply study,and the paper requirments are not difficult. He gives extra examples on BB, takes a full day to go over the exam, and he created this system on his tests which help students out. Overall a very endearing nice professor!

Dr. Shirley cares about his students and what he teaches. He explains everything clearly on our level and made the material interesting.

Dr. Shirley is awesome. This was my second class with him. There was a lot of material but the tests were multiple choice. He uses a lot of examples about the airlines and hotels which bored many but I like them. I would take a class with him again.

Very easy class if you attend it and pay attention. Minimum work is required. 3 Exams all multiple choices. I Highly recommend him.

this was the only class i took that made me feel like i was really in college. dr shirley is hilarious but he makes u work hard. make sure u pay attention and do all of the assignments. this class helped me decide i want to major in business and i hope i will have dr shirley for more classes.

Very great teacher! Does powerpoint slides every class. He takes attendance every class, marks down if you come in late, are texting, etc. You cannot use your computer in this class. We never do a test review though. He is very enthusiastic. I would recommend him.

Very helpful and genuinely nice. Tries to help out as much as he can. If you do the work, and keep up, you will do fine in his class.

Shirley is a good professor. Bus 101 is a boring and unnecessary class but you have to take it if you're a bus majorminor. Shirley is really funny and nice. He lectures the whole class period. Online quizzes are tough and studying for tests are a must. I would take shirley again, however

Nice man. He has a really strict attendance policy. If you are more than 5 mins late it's a skip. 2 skips are excused, subsequent skips take 5 points off your grade-a problem in the 8:30 class. No computers. 1-2 quizzes due each Friday. You have 3 chances to take it. 2 group projects 1 essay. Lectures the whole class time, straight out of textbook.

The nicest old dude to wake up to at 8:30 in the morning. You can't skip class but if you want to actually learn and pass BUS 101, take him. His cheesy jokes throughout his lectures make you can't help but laugh.

Dr. Shirley is the sweetest man and I will definitely keep in contact with him. He is very supportive and a great connection to have! The class is an easy A if you just put forth a little effort and chosework with groups well. Absolutely loved his class, he reminded me of why I want to be in the business world!

His corny jokes were so bad they made me laugh. If you're 5 minutes late or leave the classroom for any reason at all, you get an absence. (which I think is dumb) After two absences, you start to lose points. I wouldn't consider him strict, although if you submit something even a second late it won't count. Pretty easy class, would take it again.

GO TO CLASS!! I can not stress this enough. He is a great guy and great teacher but if you do not go to class you will not pass. The only complaints I have about this teacher are that he marks you absent if you leave to go to the bathroom or if you're more than 5 minutes late. He is strict as can be on attendance but is an excellent teacher to take

He is so incredibly passionate about what he's teaching, he also makes all his material relatable to teenagers so its easy to understand. He's absolutely hilarious and obviously tries hard to form good teacher-student relationships with his students. He's always willing to help if you go see him, and overall one of the best professors I've ever had

Funny, smart, and always in a good mood. He is there for us and you can tell his passion is teaching. Didn't take notes in class just paid attention and read the book. He wrote the textbook so you know what he's teaching is relevant. He assigns online chapter quizzes which you have three attempts to do so you have lots of opportunity to get an A.

Takes attendance very seriously, had to use the bathroom and was marked absent. His presentations are interesting and he is a funny guy at times. Overall, good teacher.

Dr. Shirley is an amazing man. He requires and takes attendance. The tests are taken in a separate mandatory common class. His class was extremely enjoyable and kept me interested. It quickly became my favorite class this semester. I would take him again with a different class if possible. If you have the option to have him take him.

He takes attendance seriously. if you show up to class and participate, you surly going to pass. he will help you if you need any. i would take him again if i could.

I actually was supposed to take another professor for this class since he was supposed to be the best. But I'm very pleased with Shirley. Some of his lectures can get a little boring, but it shows that he loves what he does and has complete respect for his students. The class wasn't difficult and I would definitely take him again.

Hes a really good teacher, all of his lectures are designed so he talks about everything thats on the textbook. The exams are not very hard but you do have to study and put effort into them

Absolutely fantastic professor who cares about the performance of his students. Contacting him about issues or questions is a breeze and his assessments are strongly correlated to textbook reading. Take him if you have the opportunity

He has a good format laid out for his BUS 101 classes. His tests are not bad as long as you study, and there's some fun projects you get to do during the semester. He's a really nice guy who wants his students to succeed.

I feel as if a lot of the class period is spent taking up time instead of productively learning. You can't use a laptop, which made the class harder for me. He doesn't let you go to the bathroom during lecture but he gives you a break. Tests are pretty easy. You have to buy the textbook because the graded quizzes come with it.

Professor Shirley is ideal for those who actually care about succeeding and striving in the world of business. You'll pass the tests if you pay attention, and you can tell he wants his students to succeed. Big fan of his projects during the semester as well.

Dr. Shirley is genuinely one of the nicest professors at UT. He cares about his students and is easy to reach. He has strict attendance rules; however, this shouldn't be an issue as class isn't long. Fairly easy to get a good grade as long as you put in the effort. Class is online hw and quizzes, 3 exams, a presentation, and 2 group projects.

He really cares about you doing well and is ever understanding. You have connect assignments probably once a week, but they really help you prepare for class. And you only have 3 exams and most questions off the connect assignments.

I bombed the 1st exam but Prof Shirley told me to keep working hard and do my best. When we had to go online after the exam I thought I had no chance to do better but his sessions were helpful and what really helped was watching the recordings of them after. He believed in me when I didn't believe in myself and that meant alot.

Dr. Shirely was my teacher for both of my first year seminars this year. He was always available to discuss any questions I had and he always responded to my emails. He's a nice man and I'm glad he was my teacher.

Super engaging and truly cares about his students. Relates concepts to real world and starts discussions. Quizzes and exams are straightforward and are all known dates in advance no surprises. Will have guest speakers from time to time who are really interesting!

Professor Shirley is very interested in the topics he teaches, but he doesn't seem to cover the topics we need for the exams/quizzes. His lectures can be hard to follow sometimes. The ethics assignment/essay is also graded rather harsh. Keep in mind he created the program, so he is a little more harsh grading wise compared to others.

Dr. Shirley is straightforward about grading in this course. Seemed to grade harshly but easy quizzes done at home. All homework is easy and assigned 1-2 times a week. 3 exams that you need to study for. Show up to as many classes and don't leave or else he will mark you absent. I had to use the bathroom and I lost 4 points. Easy to contact.

A great BAC professor as he wants to be there for his students and do anything possible to make there college experience the best it can be.

I love Dr. Shirley. He organizes the class very well and it is very easy to follow along. He gives you great feedback on any work you do and is always willing to go over material. As long as you stay on track and don't fall behind you will do good in the class. I recommend watching the videos he posts on the lectures before class as well.

Professor Shirley is a sweet man who cares about your grade. There are weekly SmartBook readings/questions and online at-home quizzes aren't too hard as you get multiple attempts. Professor Shirley has a great sense of humor and likes participation! Only handwritten notes are allowed to be taken (no typed).

Prof. Shirley was super nice and really funny. The textbook is a must read-his slides unfortunately rarely had words on them. Often he has assignments that turn out to be extra credit if you do them on time! The group projects aren't too bad but pay attention to what he asks you to do. Even though I only ended with a B I would take him again

Dr Shirley is so nice! I had him for my BAC courses and he truly wants all of his students to succeed. He is a bit more strict than other BAC professors and his class is geared more towards education than fun, but I can for sure say that I feel like I learned a lot from him. Such a sweet man

Although I am not the biggest fan of the two group projects, Professor Shirley is a great professor. His exams are straight-ford from the content covered in class, the quizzes, the smartbooks, and the textbook. He is very accessible and is a super cool guy with lots of great stories. I feel like I have learned a lot in the class for my major.

Dr. Shirly is a really nice guy and cares a lot. He gives a ton of extra credit which is really helpful but his BUS101 class was my least favorite class of my freshman year. So much busy work that just drives you up the wall. So much group work that will only hurt your grade no matter how much you contribute due to its nature. Tests + hmw are easy.

I loved loved loved this man. Best professor ever and made the class super easy. Mostly lectures but exams are easy and presentations aren't bad. For being a core business class, this class was one of my easiest last semester and I was always happy I showed up. Super cool dude, really inspirational if you take the time to actually pay attention.

Britt is a very nice guy. He grades pretty hard on some things and very much is a rule follower. He follows the syllabus religiously. His lectures are extremely boring but overall he is a very nice guy. I would take him again.

Britt is an extremely nice person and a great teacher. Yes, his lectures are so boring, but the class isn't hard if you follow along. Exams and big assignments are straightforward. He is a tough grader, but if you follow the rubric he provides for everything, you'll be just fine. I would take him again without hesitation.

Please take him! Best BUS101 professor! Gives a bonus quiz every Friday for extra credit, and attendance is mandatory, but he gives you lots of leniency and cancels class often. Give him a chance, he's really sweet and actually cares about his students.

He is a great teacher; I've honestly learned so much from his class and while he does talk a lot it is tolerable. There are only three tests the whole semester which are fairly easy and there is no final. He gives a ton of extra credit opportunities, and I would absolutely take his class again in a heartbeat
