Ms. Hoffmann is so sweet and very helpful. She gives tons of extra credit and if you are having a problem she will help every time. I made an A, B, C-, and a B on my tests (before extra credit), I don't know what I made on my final but I still ended up with a A for my final grade. She is great and if you don't pass her class then you aren't trying

Lectures are on the long and boring side but labs are fun and easy. The tests are fairly tough. You only get 5 extra points for doing her study guide which is very long and not worth the time it takes to do it. Just listen closely to lectures and study your notes before the tests.

Hoffman is a good teacher. biology is a lot of info and she will make it easy to understand as long as you take the time to come to class. She will help you if you ask. the only problem you might face is the absent rules. such as missing on a lab quiz day you can only make it up if you have a doctors note. overall pretty easy though.

IF YOU ARE THE TYPE WHO DONT HAVE GOOD ATTENDANCE DONT TAKE HER. HOWEVER I RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE ELSE THAT COMES TO CLASS EVERYTIME. I GOT a B IN HER CLASS. SHE EXPLAINS THINGS CLEARLY AND GIVES YOU STUDY GIUDES THAT TELL YOU EXACTLY WHATS ON YOUR TEST. IF YOU MISS A LAB YOU CANT MAKE IT UP UNLESS IF UR EXCUSE IS LEGITIMATE.

Ms. Hoffmann is hands-down the nicest person and best teacher I have ever had. No teacher should hand you your grades for nothing, and very few do, so stop looking. She is the best, take her!!

Ms. Hoffman is an amazing teacher. She REALLY makes you KNOW your stuff. She doesn't just want you to take the class, she wants you to KNOW it. Awesome at explaining and examples and a great lecturer. I would take her again just to have a good teacher. Her tests suck. They are pretty hard, but she gives study guides for xtra 5 points for each test.

Prof. Hoffmann was an amazing Professor! I had her for BIO I and BIO II and I got A's in both classes. I had almost no interest in BIO before taking her class, and because of her classes, I changed my major! She's VERY helpful, but her lectures can run a bit long. Just truly commit the time and you will pass! I just wish she taught CHEMISTRY! :)

I took this class once and UNF and the credit didn't transfer so I tried it online at FCCJ and it was sooo hard I dropped out. I come into Ms. Hoffmans class and all of a sudden I understand every single detail she is talking about, she gives real life examples, her tests are directly from the study guide, and its worth bonus. Ms. Hoffman is an ausome instructor. Like most of the others said, she makes Bio I interesting just because you know you're learning something and she is excited to see tthe subject. This was a summer accelerated course(8 weeks). The class was very cut an dry, a lab then a test. Nothing else!!!! I missed a test and she will not let you make it up. Don't take her, there are so many better teachers out there.

i took this as an online class and loved it. hoffman was always available for help and really knew her biology. She even wrote a couple of long emails explaining stuff which I didn't get at first. the class had some interesting discussions and labs. TEsts were hard, you really had to study but she graded fairly. i REcommend her highly.

Ms. Hoffman is a fantastic teacher. Her tests are difficult but she teaches everything. Her labs are the best. She uses powerpoint and give you the powerpoints. It's a great class. I almost changed my major to biology.

Very clear about what she expects from you. She tries to tailor the course to the students taking it to make it as interesting as possible. Her tests and labs are fair - she doesn't try to trick you and though you do have to study she gives you everything you need to do well. didn't ever really enjoy Bio until this course.

Do NOT take her class online unless you have a VERY STRONG science background. The content is easy, but her exams and labs are HARD! 90% of the questions are worded so tricky it boarders on malicious intent. The exams are purposly HARD. Don't take her class unless you have no choice. I am A student, got an A w/her but was stressed to shaking.

Prof. Hoffman is very knowlegable in biology of all types and is very passionate about her field. she teaches with enthusiasm and conveys the material well. She provides plenty of exciting real examples and I believe she genuinely cares about her student's educational goals. A true professional and I would highly recommend her to other students.

If you want to learn biology, take her. She expects you to study and gives you all you need to do well. I worked hard for an A, but it was worth it, cuz I got into pharmacy school after scoring in the 99th percentile on the bio portion of the PCAT. If you are looking for an easy A or a little slow, I recommend taking bio for non-majors instead.

Really enjoyed Hoffmans class. She's friendly, incredibly smart & explains everything in detail. The material is not easy, but then again bio is not supposed to be (Im a bio major who made an A). I thought her lectues and labs were very interesting- but not everyone is a science geek like me. If you are serious about science, be sure to take her.

Yes, she has high standards but she is a great teacher and tells you everything you need to know. I would not take the class online, because you learn more by listening and doing labs. Her labs are fun and easy. Shes not too bad to look at either.

This was my 2nd time taking this class, mind u i failed it 1st time with an F. I was not looking forward to it but prof Hoffman made it very easy to understand even the chemistry. NO NEED for the book, test straight out of ppt. Which are very clear.Labs are fun,especially with fun ppl. I got an A and i wish would take her for bio 2.

Her syllabus is Very clear. I took her online. Has due dates for all assignments but you can work ahead. I finished 10 weeks of assignments in the first week of class. Except for exams. I wound up finishing the class early. She is quick to respond to emails. I would def take her again

I learned a lot in this online class and would def take her for Bio2.Class is not a no-brainer, but with some effort it ended up being pretty easy. She graded fast and gave lots of helpful feedback. Responded quickly to emails,too. Grade is based on exams, quizzes,and labs. Slackers beware- she is clear about making no exceptions to her syllabus.

I rarely give teachers ratings but I just had to give one for professor Hoffman. I took bio 1 with her and got an A. Then took bio 2 online with her and to an A. It's biology, so of course you have to know stuff but she is very thorough and helps however she can. I found her online bio2 class to be the easiest. :)

She is a great teacher. She is VERY organized. All lecture PPTs are available the up front. She returns graded material FAST. She is crystal clear about what you need to do to do well. Test study guides can be completed for extra credit. Do the work & you'll get an A. And you'll be prepared for Bio2. Her test questions are definitely tricky.

Not an easy A but also not the hardest class to take. Professor wasn't very involved but luckily her syllabus was clear. Only two DB's for a 16 week class which is nice. Lab work is extremely easy. Wording on the Exams could be a little tricky but I managed to pass all 3 with an A. Great class to take if you are in need of a lab!

Her class is superb! We have many labs and she makes lectures very interesting. You won't need the textbook a lot in class since she posts note packets for each chapter on Blackboard. One of the best classes I've taken. Not too hard, not too easy and you learn alot. It's hybrid, so you do lecture/lab in class and take tests online. An optional final replaces the lowest grade. Prof was very enthusiastic, explains well and had fair and reasonable expectations for work load. Would definately take her again. Highly recommended.

Very clear syllabus. Online coursework, great for self study. Assignments could be submitted anytime prior to deadlines, so I was able to work ahead (except for 4 exams) and get most of the course done early. I didn't need to interact with Prof, so I don't know how she was at replies.

You have to do your work, if you don't you'll fail the class. But, if you do the work, you'll get an A. Class is mandatory, tests are online, she does NOT allow late work, at all - she's tough, but you will understand biology in and out. Her lectures are AMAZING! And she uses the same book for Bio II. I thought she was approachable.

Fun and easy class where we did dissections and medical case studies. You learn a lot Prof is smart as a whip, helpful and makes it interactive and enjoyable.

Prof. Hoffman was great. She teaches from powerpoints and posts them to blackboard so it is really easy to take notes while she lectures. Lots of lab quizzes that are easy if you can follow directions. This class does not require high level thinking, just the commitment to do the work.

Buy access code for masteringbiology online and willl give rationale to problems provided for each lecture. Buying online books are best route to go with purchase of access code if u have a i pad. One of the best professors at FSCJ! No textbook needed! Lectures can be a bit a long. The labs are fun and easy. HER EXAMS ARE TRICKY!! How well you do depends on how much you study for the tests. Overall it was an easy class. Show up for class, complete the online lab reports,do a bit of studying, do the extra credit and you'll be fine.

Hoffman is the best science teacher I have ever had. I registered for her Biology 2 class two semester early to ensure having her again. She is very clear and uses memorable analogies for every topic covered in the course. She also offers study guides that mimic tests, a lot of extra credit and drops your lowest lab quiz grade and test grade.

I love her. I took her for BSC2010C as well. I will say the lecture portion of the class always made me sleepy, but the labs are interesting and she helps with anything and everything you need help with, you actually don't even need to ask. Do the work, be on time, and at least TRY. For the socially anxious: you WILL have to interact with others.

Online- Very organized, follows syllabus, answers emails quickly. Very helpful and wants you to pass. Do the work and get an A. Lots of reading. 4 discussions (300-600 words), 4 responses (400-600 words) 4 proctored tests and 1 op final, online weekly quizzes. Gives extra credit on exams, power P notes and study sheets. TAKE HER!!

EAsy, fun class as long as you put in the work. All of the work is done through Learnsmart and Blackboard, and you can do it at your own pace. Exams are straight from Learnsmart and the study guides. The professor answered my emails quickly and helped me on the phone a couple times. I would definately take her again.

Loved this class! Prof Hoffman was a great teacher. There is alot of reading. She also does a quiz for a group of labs, a test for a group of chapters along with concept checks for each chapter. She offers extra credit many times. Study, put in the work, come to class and you'll be fine! If you have a hard time understanding, just talk to her.

Prof Hoffmann was an Amazing teacher. Had 4 discussion boards, three tests (1 optional) and Learning Modules plus labs that were easy to complete. I retook this class ( the last prof sucked) and managed to get an A, has an extra credit assignment I recommend doing if you need the extra points. Overall highly recommend this teacher she was AMAZING

Took Prof H for BSC2010c Hybrid and BSC2011c Online back to back. Pay attention to the syllabus to determine if exams are based on the book or ppt notes. Very kind and caring and willing to help. Take advantage of the practice exams for question pool.

Professor Hoffmann was amazing! She makes everything more understandable and really takes the time to go around and see if everyone understands the topic. Do the extra credit study guides, read the chapters, DON'T do things last minute then you get an A. Would take her again for sure!

2 labs per week, no textbook to buy which is nice. Half the labs are insanely easy, the other half you will have to do research as the pdfs she provides don't always include all the info, but I was easily about to find the answers by just researching. She's a very fair teacher, if you need help you can email her and she responds quick to help.

Although I didn't pass the course (couple points from a C), this class IS passable, I didn't need the book for concept checks but her lab reports (which are usually fill in the blank or multiple choice) are a bit tough. I recommend you use the practice exams to study because the exams are most important. Good Luck

This class wasnt a breeze but it wasnt hard either. The tests are based pretty much off of the two practice tests she lets you take so make flash cards of those! Attendance is mandatory for a grade and you will be doing a good bit of homework but doesnt take long. Shes a really good teacher, passed with an A! Take her!

Took her Bio 1 & 2. Wish she taught chem, too. She was very enthusiastic & made bio easy to understand. We did a lot of fun labs & interactive activities. Her tests were fine if you studied her PowerPoint notes & practice tests. Although it took a bit pf effort to get an A, I thought she was understanding /helpful & I would recommend her.

She definitely wants you to pass. I did ALL of her extra credit work except for one of the study guides, failed every single test except for the last one, did not even pass all of my homework, had an ''F'' the day before the last day of class, and still somehow smuggled my way to an 72C. With all the extra credit she provided I somehow passed.

A lot of material but I suggest breaking it down into chunks instead of reading all at once.

Absolutely loved Professor Hoffman. She was funny, passionate, and understanding. If you didnt understand something, she was 100% ready to help. Her lectures are heavy but the work isnt hard. If youre like me whos a pretty shy kid, you will have to work in groups but for the most part everyone in the class was cool. Be patient with yourself.

Professor Hoffman is probably the best Bio Professor. Very kind and nice. She gives you a lot to read and expects 400 words on each discussion and essay. However it is well worth it because you will learn a lot. She gives you enough extra credit in case you are struggling. A must take for anyone. 10/10

Great Professor if you trying to learn material and pursue career in biology. I learned a lot in the class. Tests are hard. Lots of homework but it is worth it. I took online class and had few questions throughout the semester. She always response in the timely manner and here to help. Do not take this class if you expect easy A.

I took her class online for human biology. Her syllabus was clear. The quizzes were very time consuming, each one can take 1-3 hours to complete. But you are graded for completion and not by accuracy. The lab reports can be difficult as the handouts were not always helpful. Discussions were extensive but easy A's. Only 3 exams. I recommend her.

I wish Prof Hoffman taught other subjects. I took Bio I & II with her and got A's in both. I found Bio II easier. I love the way she grades and drops lowest test grade. EASY LOVE HER

I absolutely love Prof. Hoffmann's teaching style! She is extremely fair & straight forward. No surprises. All tests are untimed except for the 3 proctored exams. I work full time and have kids, so I really liked that all the modules were available to work ahead on. Open book tests were based off the Learnsmart quizzes and notes, which she gives you. Only 4 discussions, 15 homework MC quizzes based on completion only, and 4 exams (drops lowest). I definetly recommend her.

I personally had a fine experience with Professor Hoffman, but my classmates did not and they received C's, To pass her class you must read the textbook and look at the power point notes she uploads. Being in her lectures is not mandatory but encouraged, she goes over most things in the lectures. Taking Bio in HS helped. 5 ex. credit assignments.

easy course if you pay attention and study all hte material she gives you. 5% EC with tests worth 45%. I averaged a B on exams and got an A overall. you'd have to actually try to fail this one. the prof had hte patience of a saint and reexplained stuff to students who'd ask questions about something she just went over! grades fairly. avg workload.

Professor Hoffman was good at presenting material in a clear, interesting way. Her class was set up well and I knew what was expected each week. Moderate amount of homework that did help me learn the material, and a few discussion assignments. She gave 4 tests and a final, and dropped my lowest test score. Professor Hoffmann is clear and graceful with her lectures and made learning fun. At first, I was apprehensive because of my poor experience in Bio1, but this became my favorite class of all. Study guides relate to the tests, labs are engaging & interesting, and we even went on a field trip. I wish I were lucky enough to have had her for Biology 1.

Great class for a working professional like me who came back to school after a long time. All assignments open from start so you work at your own pace. Easy A if you memorize part of her study guides and look up the rest for open book/open notes tests. She answers emails quickly and was understanding when a personal situation came up. 2 Thumbs up!

Usually I don't like science, but this professor made bio very doable. Concept checks are automatic A's, so just doing those and then studying the power points and practice exams means passing the course. She explains things well and answers emails quickly. In class labs were fun and easy. No complaints here.

If your looking for a science elective for non-majors this is the one to take. Prof had everythjing layed out from the beginning so it was easy to work at your own pace. I;m not a science person but topics were actually ok and quizzes were open book. She fast at answering emails and helped me out a couple times. Extra credit also helped

loved this class. i highly recommend it if your major isn't bio. my gpa is now high enough to transfer into UCF's social work program thanks to her. quizzes are open book and otherwise there isn't a huge amount of work. i was able to get an A working full time and raising my kids as a single mom.

I loved having Professor Hoffmann for Bio 1, she made it clear how she grades her assignments and what to expect for the final grade. She drops your lowest exam and the concept checks aren't that hard either. You can download the pdf of the chapter you're on from the assignment. Try not to miss any labs since attendence for the labs do count.

Tests definitely require studying, but she gives you all the tools required to pass them. I would recommend her to anyone that is required to take this class or any bio major.

If you put in a little effort, you will pass this class with a B like I did. Assignments were easy. Tests did require a little studying, but if you took bio in high school, you will be fine. Attendance is required in order to do your labs or you will get a zero. She also drops the lowest test grade. No final for this class!!! :)

So, I actually had her for BIO2010c and my experience was so good that I just had to take her class again. She is funny, smart, and respectful towards students. The lectures can be a little hard to understand because they are really long. After the lecture we had lab and that made learning easier. Exams are based on power points and practice exams.

Professor Hoffman is very sweet and loves explaining any questions you have. She tries to be funny during her lectures but usually comes off as awkward though most students think the effort itself is funny. Her lectures are incredibly long and study guides don't follow the exam very closely, but you should be okay if you're putting in the effort.
