She has unreasonable expectations. If you're a suck up you'll do really well in this class. If you're not an "A" student then she thinks you're incompetent. Despite what everyone says, I thought she was a very helpful professor. I didn't do good on the tests at all, but you do lab reports every week and if you do good, they bring your grade up so much. Dr. Flokstra is a tough, but fair grader. She is very organized, and always prepared for class. However, she can come across as a bit condescending at times. She had "Chem Help Time" each week, which was useful for asking questions. The tests are extremely hard, so don't expect to get an A on them unless you're incredibly gifted in math.

Doc Flok is the only reason I passed chemistry I had her for chem 1 and chem 2. She offers help times usually 3 times a week and I cannot stress enough that you should go! It's one on one help and I would have failed w/o it. She is really good about answering emails and always gives detailed feedback. She's funny and really cares about students!

The worst professor I have ever had. I have never had to deal with such a rude/condescending person. Anytime I went to her for help, she would make me feel stupid and act shocked that I couldn't understand "such a simple concept." She is the reason I changed my major; she is so arrogant I would recommend staying away from her courses.

There are readings and questions to answer every week. You need the textbook. She does not do exams for Matter Matters instead its a paper over a case study and they are actually pretty fun to do. She has very chill teaching styles and makes class feel like a productive hang out. There are group activates and one presentation but that is about it.

She is overall good and this class is easy. At the end of the semester, we just watched videos. Attendance is required and graded. Weekly questions from the book.

This is a great class to take for UNIFI credit, or for them CHEM credit that us CSD majors need! It takes some effort, but for the most part is okay. It can be boring sometimes. There is a book that requires weekly reading, and answering questions, but it's super easy. Don't sweat it. For the most part, this class was a breeze.

She is not organized, rambles about random stuff all of class, goes too fast during lectures & doesnt show important notes on slides or posted on BB. Will rudely email you saying you're not ALLOWED to use technology of any sort in her class if she ever sees you using it for anything but notes. The worst prof ive ever had.

The instructor grades harshly, is dismissive of questions, and her notes are unclear. While tests allow three attempts, the grading feels unfair—correct answers later in the test don't count if earlier ones are wrong. She's unprofessional, making inappropriate comments, and many students feel disrespected, creating a poor learning environment.

There are many loud opinions about the chem department, but honestly if you do your due diligence, you will be just fine! Weekly tests are difficult, so take advantage of chem help time. Chem help time also gave me a chance to connect relationally with Doc Flok which is helpful for a class that's harder. If you put the work in, she respects you!

Overall, I think Doc.Flok is a really good professor the class is hard so I think a lot of people blame that on the professor if you do the work and go to Chem help time when you need assistance you should be fine.

She goes way too fast on the lectures and does not explain things well. She also says she is willing to help, but the one time I asked her for help, she asked if I had watched the videos she posted, and I told her yes, and I was still confused; she just walked away from me. Also very rude when students politely ask for things and yells.

Doc Flocks class is by far the worst class I have ever taken in my life. She makes content that should be super simple and turns it into the most convoluted hard to understand topics ever. her grading system is created to fail you rather than to pass you. When asking for explanations she is condescending and unhelpful. DON"T TAKE CHEM AT UNI!!!!!
