Britton is not only smart and a very well established Anthropologist in the professional community, he is am awesome and funny Professor. His grading style for this class is different than any other, giving THE STUDENT the option of how they want to be graded. I would take him for every class if I could. He is fair which is key.
Great Proffesor! He really is passionate about what he teaches. Gave the option to take exam every couple weeks or weekly quizzes which I think was extremely helpful. Has his own website which is helpful as well.
Dr Shepardson's way of teaching is not only easy to understand but held my attention. He'll play videos every lecture on the sites we're studying or similar sites. An overall very easy class with options of weekly quizzes or exams every 3 weeks. He cares about our understanding of past lives and offers a lot of extra credit.
He cares personally about every one of his students. He memorized everyone's (100 students) names by the 2nd day. His class is laid out and structured in a very organized way, making it easy for students to understand what he's looking for. Going to his office hours is very helpful!
Professor Britton is an outstanding professor. He has lectures that are absolutely well done and filled to the brim with detail. He is most certainly a tough grader with things but I'd say it helps when trying to improve. Be prepared as there is lots of reading to do. From reading peers essays to getting the notes from the lectures.
The Professor is always willing to help. He offers two paths at the beginning of the year; weekly or exam. These choices really allow you to plan how you would like the class to go. He is very good at letting you know deadlines the first day of class. The work is more routine then difficult. Don't miss your deadline for your exam!
It is not a hard class, and he offers two different options for grading, a weekly quiz option or an exam option, which was extremely helpful as I am not a strong test taker. He is very helpful durring office hours, and will basically walk you through assignments. I didn't find some of the material interesting, but overall I enjoyed the class.
Brittons class was really interesting, he doesn't use BB learn and made his own website for his class which is really cool! He also lets you choose between being an exam person or a weekly assignment person which helps for people that learn in different ways. Overall this was a good class which was challenge but not impossible.
This class accommodates to the student's needs/wants. If you are not a strong test taker, there is a weekly option which requires an outline, quiz, and a pre-quiz to be completed. I took this route and it was organized and easy. He also tells funny stories about his past archaeological visits. Although the subject isn't for me, he makes it better.
This teacher is truly amazing. He knows his stuff and he can relate to us. Work is minimal and his class isn't hard. He's a good guy. I would defiantly take him again.
Professor Britton gives students the option to be either a weekly student who takes weekly quizzes for less points or an exam student with fewer assignments but 3 major exams worth a lot of points. I was super grateful to have a class where I could make a decision like that. The class was fun and I never felt super overwhelmed by the workload... :)
I really liked this course because of the professor. Britton makes the class fit your learning style and takes everyones needs into consideration. I would defintely take this class again. I changed my major to anthropology because of this class
He is overall a really good professor. He is very specific about what he expects of his students and also what he wants out of their assignments. He is very caring and helpful, allowing students to come in whenever they need help with anything and giving them great advice. He tells stories in class sometimes (all of which are hilarious).
This isn't a very difficult class at all. Expectation are very clear a strict. He realizes that each student learns differently so he gives you a lot of choice in the class such as, being a weekly or exam person. The class can get boring but if you show up and try your best you will do well.
I loved this class & would recommend students taking this course as Shepardson gives options for the class(weekly and exam). Basically you could dictate how your grade was earned based on your learning style. My favorite part about his class is that he does not use BBLearn as he has his own interactive classroom website that is easy to access.
Britton is the best professor I've had at NAU. He is super cool and helpful, and his lectures are interesting. This class is super easy, but I also feel like I've learned a lot.
Britton is a really nice professor. He is straight-forward on how his class works. Being given a choice to be a weekly or exam person in his class is really great. Everything he wants done for work is straight forward & going to his office hours helps a lot. This class is really not hard unless you don't show up to class or do any of the work.
Britton is very knowledgeable in his field and it shows in his lectures. He'll throw in videos and stories on a regular basis so it always keeps the class interesting. He makes very clear exactly what he wants from his students and it makes him a somewhat tough grader. However, as long as you follow the instructions carefully you'll be fine.
Between his hilarious stories, the variety of grading options, and attention to detail in every aspect of the class, there is no reason for a student to fail or even come close to failing. Britton takes everything and everyone into consideration, and he makes archaeology very interesting. Give your best effort and you will be fine.
He is a really caring professor that will help when asked and takes everyone's voice into consideration.
This was one of my favorite classes. You are able to choose a path that works for you (either exam or quiz way) Britton is very caring and is willing to help you so you can do well in the class.
This class is structured in a way that allows for an effective learning environment. Students decide whether they would prefer to be a "weekly person" or an "exam person". Weekly people are expected to come to class regularly and take weekly quizzes. Exam people have the option of attendance because it is not a huge chunk of their grade.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done for this class, but it is so helpful for quizzes and tests. We don't use a textbook, but it's like everyone helps everyone learn, so you have to do your part. He is really an amazing professor and makes you feel very respected. He makes the class in a way everyone can learn.
Great teacher overall and keeps lectures interesting most of the time. Homework is only what is necessary and doesn't give busy work. There is also the option of being a weekly or exam person which is nice to have the choice of how you want to learn in the class. Overall, great professor and would take another class with him.
Very easy class as long as work is done and the information is somewhat memorized. Essays are very short. Lectures are fun to listen to, especially when he gets into storytelling. It's your own choice to take quizzes or tests, separate from everyone else's choice, with a project or final at the end.
This class is a really good class and not hard to pass. It is a solid level 100 class and if you show up you will pass. Although the class has a lot of lectures, they are really fun and interesting to listen to no matter if you like the class or not. Just make sure you do the work and you will pass.
Professor Britton is very easy to work with and while the work isn't necessarily easy you can always go to his office hours for help. He genuinely cares about us as students which is what I love the most. The work is a bit difficult but all his assignments are designed to prepare you for the future and as long as you try you'll pass no problem.
Dr. Shepardson is phenomenal, you can immediately tell that he loves his job and is dedicated beyond any other professor. I thought I wasn't going to enjoy this class based solely on the topic, but Shepardson proved me wrong. He also uses a flexible grading system which is really nice, its either weekly or exam based. Great guy, great class!
Amazing class! It was very specialized for the students, for example the option of being a weekly or an exam person really structures your semester out for you. Another plus was the interactive class website, this website gave an opportunity to also have the information you needed to succeed.
The course material is straightforward and planned out for the whole semester. The writing assignments is expected to be written with little error. Late work is not accepted.
Britton Shepardson was a great professor. He gives you an option to take weekly quizzes or monthly exams so that every student can succeed in his class depending on their preferred method of learning. I will say that you do have to put in a lot of effort for his assignments. This is not a course where you can get an easy "A".
Britton Shepardson is a really good professor. He cares about his students and wants you to learn. He gets to know every student and you are not just a number to him. If you need help, he will help you to the best of his ability. I appreciate how the class is made and how much time he puts into the class and his students.
Professor Shepardson proved to be a pretty solid choice for ant 104. His lectures are interesting to listen to, and the coursework and homework load is manageable.
He really showed that he cared about his students. He provides his class with two different learning styles which I think is great because everyone learns differently. You can either choose to have your grades highly dependent on your exams or your weekly quizzes.
Britton is very passionate about the content and does a great job at making it interactive by including his own interesting personal stories. I appreciated his 2 way option on taking the class, whether it be weekly assignments or an exam every so often. This class was unique and I thoroughly enjoyed Shepardson as my teacher. I recommend him.
Really good teacher only con is the lectures they can get boring at times.
Was honestly an awesome teacher and gave the students so much options to learn how they like to learn.
Was honestly an awesome teacher and gave the students so much options to learn how they like to learn. Also knows that students mess up and forget from time to time and allows them to redo stuff or get time extended.
He is a great professor. He's always willing to work with his students and for teaching such a large class, he is great at getting to students individually to answer any questions or concerns.
Overall a very good experience with this professor and this class. The class lectures are interesting and have meaning in the course. The professor cares about every student and has time for anyone. An interesting course and teaching structure made the lectures and material a fun and easy thing to learn.
Britton did a great job of providing clear guidelines for projects. While he could be a tough grader, he did still have a heart while grading. Definitely take his class, hilarious professor and truly cares for the class. Wish he taught more classes.
Class is easy if you do the work and do well on the weekly quizzes
I did not like the all or nothing assignments. Grading criteria could have been much clearer
Lectures are fast so write quick notes. Option of exams or weekly quizzes.
It's a great class, but can be very challenging at times. Enjoyed learning about prehistoric sites and cultures.
Overall, a great class. He gives you the choice of additional homework or exams for those that are not great at test taking. Be prepared to put in some time into this course, as there is a lot of work to be done.
Britton is a funny and caring professor. You can tell he puts a lot of effort into the grading and class set up. He gives you options and helps when you need it.
Good guy
Britton is such a good Professor. He is very knowledgeable and takes a unique approach to grading. He also has some interesting and sometimes hilarious stories of digs hes been on. You will always know what is going on in this class, which is nice.
If you're not interested into learning about anthropology , it may be difficult to enjoy the class. Shepardson is very straight to the point and tries to make everything clear. You kind of have to learn to enjoy the class.
He tells personal stories, and they were honestly the best part about the class. Seriously though, it's an easy class as long as you pay attention and put in the effort.
He uses a website that is really easy to navigate and super helpful, the writing is easy, you will only write about 300 words max per writing assignment. He gives you good options that match your style of learning. Overall 10/10 class and professor.
For ANT-104, Dr Shepardson gives students two options. A weekly version and an exam version. The weekly option is more work heavy but your grade isn't reliant on exams. The exam option like mentioned above is not as work heavy but the three exams make up a majority of your grade. Dr. Shepardson is a great instructor and is an expert in this field.
Dr. Shepardson is hands down the best professor I have ever had. He cares about his students, he makes his lectures interesting/funny. He gives you the choice to be a weekly person (attendance matters) or an exam person (attendance doesn't matter but you have to take exams throughout the semester). Easy A class.
Beware of the in class quizzes. They are pretty difficult for a 100 level class and weigh a lot. I do like the choice to do exams or quizzes, and at the end you have a choice to do a final exam or final project which is nice.
Offers a lot of help and feedback on your work. Very chill guy I would recommend going to his office hours for things you are unsure about.
Professor Shepardson has restructured this class to be very unique in a good way. He holds students accountable, but you can tell that he really has a passion for teaching and is an excellent professor. He also has a lot of experience in the field, so he knows what he's talking about.
Great professor! I'm going to make a point of taking another one of his classes sometime in the future. He cuts out all the unnecessary "busy work" and sticks to what's actually important. I spent less time doing homework for his class than any of my other classes yet I still learned the most from him.
Gives you the choice on how you are graded. Lectures get boring.
Professor Shepardson is very good at his job. He tries to keep the class as entertaining as possible. His lectures are clear, but sometimes get a little long and boring. This class is set up in a very unique way, and it is easy to catch onto the weekly routine. Just attend class and go to his office hours for any papers that need to be written.
Briton Shepardson is quite literally a godsend. He recognizes that not all students learn or test the same way, so this class gives you options depending on your type. He loves to build relationships with his students, he wants us to be well-rounded individuals, and really enjoys what he does. He's honest, fun, and all around an amazing person.
He took a lot of time to make sure you were where you needed to be. He truly cared about every single one of his students, putting time into his own website and textbook. You really get out what you put into the class.
He is a great teacher that does a great job of teaching the lecture. He is not monotone, which makes listening to the lectures a little bit easier. He responds to emails fairly quickly, and is very understanding when it comes to work. I would definitely take another class with him, he uses his own website for class, which is very interactive.
Definitely a very knowledgeable and accomplished professor. In ANT104, we had the option to choose between a more exam-heavy grading style and a weekly quiz based grading style, which I really appreciated. He is clear about his expectations and wants to do what he can to make his class the best he can. A bit egotistic but overall a good professor
Great lectures and offers a unique learning experience along with learning activities outside of the classroom.
Offered a weekly and exam grading criteria. Very cool guy.
Offered two different criteria for your grading that you could choose from, told cool stories in class and the content was interesting.
Britton makes learning extremely exciting by his interesting lectures. He knows what he's talking about because he doesn't just teach it, but he does it as a career. He gets to know everyones name the first day of the semester and wants you to do well. He recognizes that people learn in different ways and caters to everyone.
Britton teaches you that archaeology is so crucial in the world . He made me realize that without the study of it, there wouldn't be any discoveries to how the people lived before us, and by learning archaeology, we learn from there mistakes. He has a unique way of going through the course, and even giving us silly names. Definitely take this class
Its a well-rounded class that makes you double check all the projects you turn in
Funny guy, easy and clear assignments. Sometimes it felt like busy work but it made getting a good grade easier.
Great class and great professor, work isn't easy but requires some actual work, definitely worth it though, everything clearly laid out.
Britton knows how students think and accommodates his class as such. The option to be an "exam" or "weekly" person allows student to choose the way they learn best. He is always willing to help with any assignments during office hours and has great stories he shares in lecture. I would highly recommend this class!
This class is structured by choosing if you want to be a weekly person or an exam person. Overall, I enjoyed the challenges this class has.
He provides good insight and has a lot of knowledge. Lets you pick a grading options as a "weekly" person or and "Exam" person. Can use outlines for quizzes
Honestly, his class is pretty simple as long as you show up and stay on top of deadlines.
Dr. Shepardson is one of the few professors that truly cares about his students. He desgined his class to make sure you enjoy learning and also get a take away for the professional world. He breaks the traditional letice model and makes it fun and interesting.
Britton Shepardson is a tough grader, but it is helpful because he cares that we do our best and he ultimately helped me personally write better at a university level.
The lectures and the class website helped me a lot. I really enjoyed his class and he is an awesome professor.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class as well as I felt challenged with each assignment. I value this contrast because I enjoyed going to class and doing assignments but I also knew that I was actually learning a lot for a passionate and respectable professor.
All around great teacher. He cares about his students and wants them all the pass. Not only that but his stories are absolutely hilarious.
Very enjoyable class, you will have essays to type but they aren't too time consuming and aren't very long.
He is a great professor! Always wanting to help the students succeed. Not a hard class just show up and do the assignments and you will be fine.
Easy A, would recommend taking the Exam route in his class (can either be a weekly quiz person with a lot of busy work, or an exam person and only take 3 exams), the exams are not hard if you have a general understanding of each site.
Loved this course and the professor
Britton is such a fun professor! The workload is quite a bit but it's very enlightening and he just made it such a fun class. He's very funny and has a ton of great stories to tell during lecture. I don't know if I'd take this particular class again, but I would definitely take one with him again.
Really invested in his students and making sure they pass his class, I don't think anyone has lower than a C. The assignments are clear, the deadlines are easy, and he offers a lot of office hours to help. A great class.
Britton is an excellent professor- probably one of the best I've had. He's very passionate about his work and will inspire you to also give a dang. The class setup is unique and effective, and he gives no busy work. Everything assigned is for a good reason. Put effort into this class and it will easily pay off.
This was my first anthropology class and look into archaeology. I loved this class and Britton made it really easy to enjoy and be interested in the course! Highly recommend this course!
This class is interesting but difficult. You do have an option to choose a weekly route where you take a quiz every week, or the exam route where you only take 3 exams. Both the quizzes and exams have difficult questions. He does make the lecture interesting by adding in personal stories. If you are looking for an easy A don't take this class.
Britton can be fun in class but make sure you pay attention to his lectures because he is a tough grader. Chances are if you participate in this class and make yourself known hes gonna like you more.
He designs the course himself to cater all learning styles, I enjoyed the class even if the content was unrelated to my major.
His personal stories always engaged the class.
Liked how he split the class into weekly and exam; I was a weekly person. There is somewhat a lot of assignments due but its not busy work, its all for a reason. Weekly quizzes can be hard. He tries to incorporate all learning styles and really cares about his students education even outside of his class room.
I personally really loved this class. I never would have thought that I would enjoy Anthropology, however, it was my favorite class all semester. Britton was not the usual teacher, which I really enjoyed, and his class manner is very different from the normal which is why I loved this class so much.
Shepardson genuinely cares about teaching and has set the course up in a way that will force you to learn and understand all the course content if you expect to do good in the course. Sounds scary, but the course is not that hard, and the workload is manageable.
Easy class outline, just follow it.
He's a real nice dude who is super willing to help out in office hours. Also very helpful with late work if you approach him about it early on.
I loved Britton Shepardson. He tries very hard to get to know his students, unlike some professors. He is a tough grader but he also offers a lot of extra credit. As long as you try your best and work hard on the assignments you will do fine in this course.
Shepardson is really good teacher and does try to get to know his students. He's accessible during his office hours and you can email him at pretty much anytime and will get back to you pretty soon. Not real vague in directions and in what you're supposed to know, especially for exams. With two types of grading paths, he makes the course learnable.
The Professor can be a little tough sometimes, but he has structured the course great, if you just go to class and pay attention, then read about the sites online you can easily thrive in this class. Very good professor.
Get to chose between being an exam person or weekly person. A few required 200 word essays but go to office hours for an A. Tests aren't difficult if you know the study guide. Great guy in and out of class. Cares about students and provides extra credit every week. Do your work and getting an A shouldn't be difficult.
This class was easily one of my favorites this semester.
The professor is all about "you get what you give". For example whatever effort you choose to put into the class, is how much you'll get from the class & professor. I was an exam student and did most of my work outside of class. While the lectures helped a little, most of my studying and learning was done outside of the classroom.
He lets you choose what style of learning works best for you. I was a weekly person & the quizzes were occasionally more difficult than I expected, even though we got to use an outline. I think this was mainly because we were relying on our peers to teach us about the topics. He expects you to work, but overall I liked how unique the class was.
By far my favorite class I have ever taken in college. I was dreading having to take anthropology but this professor made me want to engage in the subject. You can tell he loves what he does.
hes so good I changed my minor to anthropology
He lets you choose what style of learning works best for you. I was a weekly person & the quizzes were occasionally more difficult than I expected, even though we got to use an outline. He expects you to work, but overall I liked how unique the class was. I like that he made his classroom a community so we had to interact and rely on eachother.
Good Professor cares about his Students and their future in college. Excellent and entertaining lecture and teaches interesting areas of the class.
Really thoughtful professor. We use an online book so that you can save money and not buy a textbook. He offers two different routes for the semester as an exam route or weekly. Makes it really easy to pass as long as you to your work. Made anthropology interesting.
Britton is the coolest professor you will meet at NAU. I took ANT 104 with him and enjoyed attending class. You get to pick wether you would rather do assignments weekly or take exams throughout the semester. Each option is fair, the amount of work for the weekly assignment choice is not crazy, and the exam option is 3 exams total. Take his class!
You can choose weekly quizzes or exams. He really cares about your education. Plenty of extra credit available, work that was given was easy. Tells funny and interesting stories. If you want the points, you do the work. He won't hunt you down or give second chances. Still an amazing and interesting class, I strongly recommend. No textbook required.
He is a really great teacher wit a lot of interesting stories about his travels. You can pick between taking weekly quizzes or exams. I chose the quiz route and as long as you do your weekly homework the class is an easy A.
If you forget dates you shouldn't take the course because it is important to get the work done on time
Britton is the best teacher/professor I have ever had. his classes are lectures mainly but he makes it like no other lecture I've ever had. they are always engaging, hilarious and all around a good time. I always look forward to attending each class. as for the grading he is very fair and clear on all instructions. over all Britton is the best
Great professor that really cares about education. Pay close attention to due dates and you'll get an easy A. Gives you the option to choose between being a weekly person or exam person. I chose weekly and it's easy as long as you do your weekly homework. Always includes hilarious and personal stories about the sites we learn about.
This class is an easy-A. You get to choose if you want to take weekly quizzes with the help of an outline you create or if you want to take 2 tests. The assignments are very straight forward and he is always willing to help during office hours. Lectures are a little long but can be interesting sometimes.
Coolest, funniest professor I've ever had, and the most I've ever learned in a single class. Just show up, pay attention, and do the literally four total assignments (exam option, not weekly), and you're set for life. I would take this class again in a heartbeat. I'm not an emoticon person, folks, but he's earned it. :)
Britton is hands down the best professor/teacher ive ever had in my educational journey. The layout of his teaching helps every student succeed and the stories and fun facts he has to offer makes you engaged the entire class. The only class ive been able to sit thru & not get bored. inspired me to actually go travel to the sites hes talked about!
Britton is an amazing teacher. He relates to students on another level and really goes out of his way to understand them, know them, and make learning the most enjoyable and rewarding for them. He lets you personalize the course to your learning style, and tells great stories- an inspirational dude who made me really, really enjoy anthropology.
Britton is a great lecturer, tells entertaining stories, and is approachable. 2 different ways to take this class. Weekly: weekly quizzes, attendance is worth more, final project or exam worth less. EXAM: 2 midterms, no quizzes, finals exam worth more, attendance is worth less. This class wasn't for my major but I'd take it again with Britton.
He really cares about his students. This is evident in how he interacts with them. He tells stories and gives real life experiences. He lectures are quite interesting and he makes coming to class enjoyable. There are assignments, but they aren't difficult.
This professor is very easy to get in contact with when needed and provides clear due dates on all assignments the first day of class.
Offers interesting anecdotes, but can be a little be preachy when discussing anything modern.
Awesome teacher! I personally didn't have much of an interest in the subject matter but Dr. Shepardson kept the class interesting and engaging. He gives you the option of taking a few exams or doing weekely quizes.. He gave us outlines that if you followed told you exactly what to expect. Never felt unprepared and would highly recommend him!
Britton is great. He's one of those professors that understands that people have different learning styles and tries to give you choices when completing coursework. His assignments actually help you learn-- no busy work, which feels rewarding. Great storyteller, and has a plethora of practical and experiential knowledge he draws from. No textbook.
I took his ANT 104 class, a basic anthropology class focusing on archeology... something I have no interest in personally what so ever. Sure something were quite dry in class, because of my own lack of interest, but he has so much passion behind his work and teaching he makes the class enjoyable. He's a great prof!
The professor is an absolute gem that cares deeply about the quality of education his students receive. Mr. Shepardson understands students and creates his class in a way that they will all be able to understand what he is teaching. He is able to keep the class interesting, engages with students, and opens our eyes to the world of anthropology.
Britton is an amazing professor. He is very student oriented and organizes the class to suit your needs. If you need to take one of his classes for a Liberal Studies or anything else, I highly recommend his class.
His class is designed to set you up for success. His lectures are never boring, yet loaded with great information. His website is easy to navigate and is actually very helpful. He is very anal about getting stuff done the way he asks, which I find very professional. His class is always super fun. He learns everyones names by the second day of class
Dr. Shepardson has been a true gem. His class is structured unlike any other class I've had before. You can choose from a weekly or exam option and the quizzes aren't too bad. He explains the material in an understandable way even though I'm not so interested in it.
Britton is a great professor. You can choose between a weekly class structure or exam. With weekly, your attendance is worth more and you will take weekly quiz as opposed to 3 exams. He has great stories. There is a surprising amount of work outside of class, but it is nothing too bad.
This class was great. A couple years ago my sister took this class, but did not have Britton. She hated it. I on the other hand loved it! He is a wonderful lecturer, and I never left the class bored.
What I liked most about taking Britton's ANT104B class was the fact he offered a path for people who prefer exams and another for people who wanted to be graded on weekly assignments. This was really unique and helped me get the most out of the class. He has interesting lectures, cool real-world experience, and a great classroom environment.
This class is taught very different from other classes because you get to pick whether you want to be graded by exams or through weekly quizzes. I picked exams and I had minimal homework however the exams were tough but as long as you study you should be fine.
Britton is a diamond in the rough. He makes his class and grading as adjustable as possible to the students' preference and takes feedback seriously. Honestly, just his life stories and position on certain topics makes it worth the time. Grading is "tough" but there are enough things that you shouldn't really get lower than a B. 11/10
Britton was a very fun lecturer, with great stories of travels and experiences out in the real world. His lectures were very straight forward and some had a fun twist to it. He was always willing to help students out wherever and whenever they needed help. Get ready to learn many aspects of many archaeological sites around the world, it's amazing!
He really rocked my educational world. Highly recommend.
Britton is great, although there are written assignments that will be due they are not lengthy at all. The lectures he gives are fun and they usually include a fun story from his own experiences as an archaeologist. I also liked that he tried to give us information that was as non-biased as possible and give us different sides of the story.
I like the fact that he let the students choose whether they would excel at being a weekly person or an exam person. There is a lot of information for this class, but it is to hard to follow along.
Great teacher, really knows what he is talking about.
Britton is a interesting and engaging guy. He really knows what he is taking about. The personalized web page for his classes is well done. Overall, good experience.
You can really tell that Shepardson tries his best to accomodate to all of the student's learning styles and what our opinions are about certain things in the class. He's a great professor and goes off track with his own personal experience stories but it makes the class more interesting. I would definitely recommend taking ANT104 with Shepardson.
I had him for ANT104 and chose the exam grading option. I liked it a lot because you don't really have to do much work except plan for studying heavy before the exam and you'll do fine. He's super clear on study guides of what to expect and as long as you put some time and effort into the assignments, he's a pretty easy grader.
He gives you an option of either being a weekly or exam person. I am a weekly person and attendance is worth a little more, but the final exam or project (which ever you decide to do) is worth less (speaking in terms of overall points). He is student oriented and you should make use of his office hours especially for the essay.
Britton is a very personable professor who clearly cares for and respects his students. He goes out of his way to make his lectures fun and interactive, while still teaching crucial information for the course.
Britton is a great professor! There is no book required for this class and the students make up the textbook by doing research on a particular site. Community based class and you get to pick and exam or weekly setup. He has A LOT of experience and has been to many archeological sites and has many stories. Very little group work only for attendance.
The professor makes lectures interesting and at the beginning of the semester, he gives the student the option to either take a quiz each week plus the final exam or, 2 midterms and the final exam or a final project plus final exam. This is my first semester in college, and to be honest, he's one of the best professors I've had so far in college.
Dr. Shepardson is amazing and one of the best professors I have ever had. He cares about his students and wants everyone to do great in his class. He doesn't give out grades; he expects every student to work as hard as he does and I personally like that from my professors. The work load is small and the papers are easy; overall loved the class.
You can either do a small quiz every week or take an exam when he has exams scheduled. I chose to take the quizzes. If you do poorly on the quiz, you are also graded on an outline and pre-quiz that is essentially participation. There isn't a book to buy, so each week he has different students write about different sites and posts them online.
There are a lot of assignments that you need to keep up with but there are extra credit opportunities throughout this course. If you put in the work for this course you should expect the grade you want at the end of the semester.
Great professor, cares about students, ant 104 is well taught by him
I absolutely loved taking his class. The professor is very passionate about his class and anthropology that it makes the class easier than it is. Attendance is mandatory, there are a few assignments, and no textbook required. He gives his students the option to be an exam student or a weekly student (more assignments). Highly recommend this class.
He is a great teacher, and the assignments are really not bad. I recommend not skiping class, his lectures are something you don't want to miss.
Britton is an excellent professor who is passionate about his class. No textbook is required because of the way he designed the class. He holds long office hours and is willing to set up outside appointment. Britton wants students to be successful. This is seen in the passion he brings to class daily and his willingness to help all who need it.
This class was made to help the students learn the material instead of just helping them pass the class. It was all layed out in the sylubus and you knew what to expect when you went to the lecture. I really enjoyed this class because it helped people who learned better by doing the assignments rather than just taking tests and vice versa.
Weekly or Exam based grading style you pick which one you prefer. Vey funny and gives clear instructions on/about every assignment. Work load is not heavy but it is detail oriented, you must give your best effort to get full points but that is not as hard as you would think. Always responds quickly and gives great feedback on how to improve work.
One of my favorite professors at NAU. Very kind and understanding human being. As a weekly person, quizzes were extremely difficult. Although I would suggest being a weekly person over an Exam person. He is always available in his office hours to help you. Would recommend this course.
Britton is an amazing professor. The work load is not too heavy and his lectures can get you passionate about anthropology/archaeology. He lays out clear instructions for assignments in the syllabus. He also gives you the choice to be a Weekly or Exam person. He is always there for any questions you may have. I strongly recommend him.
Britton Shepardson is very knowledgeable in archeology and has some very interesting stories.
Was always ready to help, made the course as simple and convenient for us students as possible.
He is a good professor. He loves what he does and you can tell by the way he teaches and talks. He respects his students and tries his hardest to get to know them. His class isn't hard as long as you stay on top of every assignment. He is probably one of my favorite teachers this semester. My friends hear me talk about him often.
Britton was awesome. He lets you choose the plan that works best for you (weekly or exam person). I was a weekly person, which I highly recommend because you get familiar with the content each week, and the final is not weighted as heavily. He is so knowledgeable and experienced and really is like a real life Indiana Jones... take his class!
Provides opportunities to always raise your grade.
Britton is a really cool professor, definitely one my my personal favorites. He understands that not all students learn the same and give you different way to learn the material. It obvious he really cares about his students. He is strict but he's also human and will help as much as possible. oh and also STAY OFF YOUR PHONE
He was a great professor that made you feel welcome adn he was very easy to talk to. He has such an organized course that is really able to benefit the student and he posts all of the notes online
Gives you the option of weekly quizzes or exams. I chose weekly. 3 assignments/week. Very nice, tries extremely hard to make this a great class. You write the textbook. Doesn't allow freeloaders in class. 2-3 grades depend on grading other work. Gives you tons of options for assignments. Group projects aren't too bad. Has amazing stories to tell!
This guy knows how to keep the class entertained and keeps you intrigued with the information that you are learning in class. Highly recommend taking any class with Dr. Shepardson.
Very interesting dude, obviously very well knowledgeable in his field. Has real life stories that relate to class
Britton is an amazing professor. He works hard to accommodate all students learning styles and is accessible outside of class to give feedback on all big assignments which is really helpful to getting a good grade. The class is semi self taught, but Britton has a lot of wonderful information and stories to share. Would highly recommend.
Britton is a great teacher who makes ANT 104 a fun class and he is also pretty funny which helps the class go by faster. It is not a hard class, if you do the work you will at the very least get a B.
Britton is a very good teacher who really wants you to succeed in his class and provides you with every opportunity. This is a class where you put in as much as you get out, meaning if you do the work you will get a good grade.
Britton is honestly one of my favorite professors I have had. He designs the class in a way that is set up for the student to succeed and that fits their type of learning style best. Education is one of the most important things to him and it really shows because he cares for the student and wants them to succeed.
This class is very straight forward in regards to what is expected and you are given many opportunities for extra credit. It is true that this class is made for you to succeed if you put the work in. This class has required attendance.
Laid back professor. As long as you do all your work in this class there shouldn't be a worry about pass or fail. Professor is willing to work with you if you put in the time to get help. 100% would recommend this course and professor Britton as well.
One of the best lecturers I have had at NAU. All the coursework is clearly laid out, I choose exam option and it was not difficult. He has some pretty good stories to go with the topics in class. He obviously knows the material and has a lot of experience with it. Relatively easy grader with very clear assignment instructions.
Britton is a great professor who genuinely cares about his students. His class is set up in a way that can benefit either type of student, whether they're more of an exam person or homework person. Very organized and overall great professor who I would definitely take again if given the opportunity. :)
Britton is an amazing professor who treats his students with respect and who makes his lectures interesting to listen to. As long as you do your required work, you shouldn't have any problem getting an A or B in the class. He leaves it up to you at the beginning of the semester to decide what kind of "student" in terms of work, works best for you.
This class was relatively easy and the homework was consistent throughout the whole semester and it was very clear what was expected of us. Britton is a great professor and I would highly recommend this class if you need an anthropology course.
As long as you follow instructions and do the assignments this class can be an easy A. Also he has really hilarious stories!
I loved his class its the best teacher
I enjoyed his class we have extra cried 500 points which is help to increase the grade
Very organized and fun class. If you turn in your work you will be successful.
Britton Shepardson is a great man. It was truly a blessing to have his ANT 104-B this semester. Dr. Shepardson truly cares for all his students, he proved this by memorizing all the names and faces in the first week. He is respected in his field and is incredibly intelligent. NAU please make his guy a tenure, NAU needs professors like him!
This was by far one of my favorite classes and professors of the semester. Britton is super kind and always willing to help you. Plus, he's got great stories from his own adventures in the field. I highly recommend taking his class, even if it doesn't seem like a subject you'd like. I learned so much that I never would have anywhere else.
Britton is an amazing, well rounded, and knowledgable professor. He really cares about education and giving his students what they need to succeed.
The assignments were surprisingly my favorite part of the class. They were fascinating and a very decent amount of work. Prof. Shepardson is an effective lecturer and had some fantastic stories along with them. The grading was fair and there were many opportunities for help outside of class. All around, one of my favorite classes this year.
Britton's a cool guy and has some rad stories. His class runs pretty smoothly and he is clear about assignments and dates. If you show up and do the work it shouldn't be hard to get an A in this class. Dope guy and dope class, would recommend.
Lectures provide a fun and informative learning experience, stories from his work are always a treat! His syllabus clear for the semester so you know what to expect. He is what some may say a "tough grader" but it is really to help students think critically and engage with the content rather than writing boring fluff no-one wants to read or write.
It is a very interesting class and I learned a lot. The course is structured in a way that is easy to understand while still being detailed and informative. Overall I would definitely recommend this class. (Also, his stories are the best)
The material for the class is very interesting, but there is a lot of homework to it. There is no book for the class so all the research is done on your own. The nice thing is you can choose to just take exams and not do the homework or vice versa. He is a tough grader and the exams are brutal. Overall, if you don't study you will fail the exams.
amazing teacher
You probably don't need to show up to class, but the lectures are a much more efficient way of learning the information. Lots of extra credit, but don't expect easy extra credit, takes time.
Great Professor, makes learning a subject you might really be interested in fun.
great story teller
Excellent person and professor. Clear expert in his field.
Britton is amazing. He is very engaging as a lecturer and has some great stories to tell. He is very passionate about what he is teaching and it really shows. He also offers two unique grading paths that you can choose depending on the way that you best learn. There is a very structured weekly option. Or you can decide to just take the exams.
Britton is a really fun and good teacher. He lets you pick at the beginning of the semester to be a weekly quiz person or an exam person. I chose weekly and thought it was really easy to be caught up on the material. He's really respectful and has great stories! The class isn't hard if you show up and actually do the work.
Good teacher, really cares about his students.
He is a great teacher.
He was very nice and treated everyone with respect and was very good at engaging the class.
As long as you keep up with the deadlines class will be easy. Awesome guy. Very helpful. Makes class very engaging.
He really cares about student welfare and success. He was super chill and it was a major plus not having to pay for a textbook.
Britton makes an excellent effort to get to know his students, make lectures fun/engaging, and keep his students as organized as he can. I would love to take another class of his
Great outlook on teaching, genuinely just wants you to figure out what is best for your learning experience.
Very good Teacher. makes the class easy if you keep up on your work and put in effort.
Great teacher, highly recommend this course. The professor gives two options one weekly based and one exam based, he then gives the student the options to pick between. Professor is real with you and tells you exactly how his grading is and how his course runs, as long as you stay on top of completing assignments class is easy and you will pass.
Great class, loved the test/quiz option
AWESOME GUY
Britton is a great lecturer that tells awesome stories . He tries his hardest to make the class very interactive and fun for everyone. He gets to know everyone by name and is very personable as well. You would be very lucky to have him as a professor!
Shepardson is one of my favorite Profs I've had so far. He makes his lectures interesting and funny. Plus, he gave us the option to choose between an exam based grade where you just took 4 tests and that was it or if you would rather have no tests and do a couple assignments each week. I chose the weekly option and had a good time.
Shepardson is the best and always has so many cool stories to tell! I learned a lot in his class and he kept me engaged with the material. Having the choice between the homework route and exam route was also extremely nice especially during a busy semester.
Shepardson is great. Giving students the option to be a "weekly" or "exam" student allows the student to make the choice that best fits their schedule. If you don't do good with test that require lots of memorization, just do weekly, it'll save you stress in the long run. Lectures are fun and entertaining.
My favorite college professor so far. He adapted beautifully to online teaching and made me wish I could've had him in person. I never felt overwhelmed, but also learned a ton because of how effective the lessons were. On top of that, every class was enjoyable. Highly recommend it as an elective, or for whatever reason you want to take this class
Britton gives you the opportunity to choose an exam or weekly grading option. He makes the class interesting and cares about students.
Loved this class! I chose the weekly grading option, so I only had 2 weekly assignments based on lectures and 2 quizzes. As long as you're writing down due dates somewhere and keeping track of them, you should be okay! Highly recommend.
Was a wonderful class! Works with you on literally every assignment and all of the info he provides through his videos are amazing! I did the weekly option and it worked amazing to where I wasnt stressed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND him as a professor and this class!
Britton is by far one of the best professors at NAU. He's very clear on instructions and will go out of his way to help any student struggling. I highly recommend.
Dr. Shepardson is a great professor! He is really engaged in his material and cares a lot about his students. He lets you choose how you want to be graded since not every student learns the same way. You get to choose either weekly quizzes or by tests. If you have a choice, definately choose him!
This professor was awesome! During all my online classes this semester, his class was a bright spot. He made it fun and engaging even for students like me who aren't anthropology majors.
He has definitely been my favorite professor so far. Hes super easy to understand in his lectures, and he makes a class that I didnt think would be interesting, actually super interesting. Super glad I ended up in his class!
Was skeptical of this class, but ended up loving it in the end. Archaeologically never quite interested me that much, but this class definitely changed my mind about. Britton is such a great teacher and makes learning so much fun!! Take his class you won't regret it. Like every other review, having options is nice. Weekly route is recommended.
Goes into detail when needed. He will explain and help out if needed. He listens
Professor Shepardson is a great teacher who cares about his students through flexibility and his drive to help kids learn. His passion in what he teaches rubs off onto students and gets them more involved in the class. Overall, he is a well-rounded teacher!
The class was very interesting the entire semester, and the two ways to be graded (weekly or by exams) I think is an awesome system that I wish other professors used as well. He's quick to respond to emails, and very understanding when something is late or you miss class.
Great class, you had two options either take weekly quizzes or 3 tests. Really organized setup! Plus he genuinely cared!
Professor Shepard is awesome! Always available by email and very respectful of his students. Very professional but also easily relatable to his students. Super cute cat in the back of his lectures and tons of extra credit available semester long.
Professor Shepardson is one of the most passionate teachers I have had at NAU. He made attendance optional during the entire semester and when I showed up every week there was only two or three of us there yet he was always still so excited to chat and help us out. There is no text book which is really nice and his assignments are clear and easy.
Going into this class, I wasn't sure what to expect. But now that the semester is over, I'm so glad I took this class! There was just the right amount of challenge, and the professor is so kind and willing to help. There was no textbook, but rather a class-driven website with mini essays to make up a 'textbook'.
Britton is an excellent professor. Not only is he clear with what he expects from us, he gives us options for what style of the course we would like to participate in (Weekly or Exams) and lets us engage in the class at our own pace within the due date. He has no issues answering questions and assisting you with anything you need.
I thought Professor Shepardson was great. The way the class was set up let me do my own thing while also being held accountable for.
This class was a lot of fun and a great chance to learn about the past. He allows students to choose how they want to earn their grade weather that be by only doing exams or doing weekly class work. All of the lectures are very interesting and overall the class and professor were a lot of fun.
Professor Britton was super very enthusiastic and passionate about anthropology. You have to do weekly work but nothing takes more than an hour worth of your time. He allows you to pick how you want to be graded with either assignments or tests.
Great teacher. He set up his own website to have a better class structure that was simple and easy to use. Class was not mandatory and he uploaded lectures and videos. Very interesting. Definitely recommend to anyone interested. Only class I enjoyed all semester.
Professor Shepardson was by far my favorite teacher throughout the entire year at NAU. His class is fairly easy as I got a 98.3. Couldn't recommend enough for a diversity credit.
Very nice teacher and has the most organized class I have experienced in college.
Dr. Shepardson is the most understanding professor at NAU. He makes the class so easy to navigate and complete by his students. Not only that, he is there 24/7 if you need help or want feedback. ANT104 was great with him! He made interesting lectures, easy activities, helpful study guides, and even made an essay as simple as it could get.
Your workload depends on how you choose to tackle the class. He gives each student the option to complete weekly assignments (they do not take long at all) or to just do exams (study guides are provided). There is plenty of extra credit opportunities too! You also have the option to either do the final exam or final project (a video).
Britton was a great professor, especially in handling the challenges of online courses during COVID times. The class was interesting and engaging. You get the option to be a weekly or an exam person, which I liked because it gives you the freedom to choose how you learn best. Definitely a good class to take!
This class was amazing and I feel like I learned so much. The way he taught was amazing and it was great even when taking it online. He also structured his class differently then other professors would and he had the the whole class make a textbook as a whole and I found this to be very helpful. Great class, I would highly recommend!!
Shepardson was one of the best teachers I had! He was available and constantly made time for students who had questions, needed review, or even just to talk. He was also super passionate about the topics! There were 2 ways to take the class, weekly and exams. I took weekly and did great as long as I watched the videos and gave thoughtful answers.
Professor Shepardson is a really great professor. The class itself is really fun and it's not too difficult if you're planning to take it to get a few extra credits. The grading criteria are very clear and you have plenty of opportunities to earn points over the semester. Just do the work each week as best you can and you can't fail.
Great job of allowing you to learn how you want to. Can choose between a test heavy grade or doing weekly activities, in which you never have to take a test during the class. Although I haven't needed much help, the only times I have reached out he answered almost immediately. Admittedly, he can be a bit blunt if you ask a dumb question though.
Professor Shepardson makes this class really interesting! He is accessible for students if they need help. I chose the weekly option and that was really helpful because I only had to do two assignments and two quizzes weekly! He is a great professor and highly recommend for students to take this course with him!
This was the best asynchronous online class I've ever taken. I'm not an Anthropology major but his class is super accessible even so; he really cares about the subject and his students! Also his music recommendations are really good.
Fantastic teacher; And although I say 'lots of homework', that's only if you do the 'weekly' option. The teacher gives you a choice in how you would like to be graded- by exams or by a lot of homework, and YOU make the choice. Which is rare and fantastic. Secondly: The class is NOT mandatory to come to, which is also pretty awesome.
Britton is an incredible professor. He is passionate about his class and puts in so much work for his students. This class was a random credit for me and has nothing to do with my major. I found it extremely easy to learn and complete assignments for a solid grade. I had no idea I would learn such interesting things through this course.
Britton is a great professor and will always respect & go out his way to help any student who needs it. The course has its own website and is able to be completed in the 2 options of weekly or exam. Overall, there is a lot of interesting material that you won't regret learning and I loved Britton's approach to teaching it.
Britton was by far my favorite professor at NAU. He gives great lectures that are very engaging. Everyday in class was something fresh and intriguing. He would always answer questions in a timely manner and would always understand if there was an error in submitting an assignment. I would highly recommend taking this class, you will not regret it.
Professor Shepardson wants to maximize students' preference within the course. The adaptation to online learning (personally) did not connect with me, but his site was well made, and I truly appreciated his weekly vs. exam model. Much of the course was watching long videos, which I struggled to engage with, but I enjoyed him as a professor.
Great professor, he always makes time for his students. The professor is kind and easy to talk to. Has a unique class set up and well organized!
Dr. Shepardson has been one of my favorite teachers at NAU. He gave two different options for how we wanted to be graded in class, does not have mandatory attendance, and offers many opportunities for extra credit. I enjoyed taking his class.
Britton is a great teacher and is very helpful with everything. You have a lot of freedom in this class and he offers extra credit. He gives great feedback on essays and as long as you take his tips you will get a good grade. The meetings every week were optional and were kind of like office hours. I wish I could have him as a professor again!
Britton Shepardson is a fantastic professor and I would highly recommend taking his class. Because of his experience as an educator he has developed his own course unlike any other I have taken. No busy work, no meaningless assignments, just straight forward interactive learning. He is a great professor!
Britton is a great professor who genuinely cares about the success of his students. Not too difficult, but not easy either. Takes the time to help students however he can. Great public speaker and gives really fun lectures. Would recommend to anyone.
This professor is honestly one of my favorites at NAU. He made the transition from in person to online very smoothly. His course has a clear outline and all he wants is for his students to succeed. Although his class attendance was optional, it was helpful to pop in for a few minutes. He tried to get to know as many students on a personal level too
This professor has been one of the best I've had at NAU. He offers different learning paths to accommodate for how each student learns. His lectures are entertaining and organized. I am a mechanical engineering student and would recommend this professor and class to anyone that needs elective credit or just needs a class to fill their schedule.
Britton is a great professor with a good course material outline that seems to really care about his students. He gives students a two option route for the semester; exam or weekly. His lecture videos were funny as well as engaging.
This Professor is great! I went in to this class thinking i would hate it and he made me love it. The way his class is set up makes it easy to fit into anyone's hectic schedule. The course curriculum was easy to understand and follow. He genuinely cares about each student, I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Do the work and you get a good grade.
He was a great overall teacher
I took this class as a Liberal Studies requirement, and it was as easy as I'd hoped. Aside from having to read a few short paragraphs each week and answer some quizzes, there was basically no work or effort required for this course. Going into the Final, I only need 24% to get an A. I never studied and hardly went to class, which was optional.
I liked the class! The only issue I had was that I personally find it easier to learn in a collaborative (classroom) environment, and I had difficulties sometimes with getting myself to do the work. Overall good professor, and good class.
Professor Shepardson was an amazing teacher and he always took time every day before the start of class to ask how a student was doing. The work is not hard, as long as you attend lecture or watch his videos occasionally, and he isn't a harsh grader. He was a really cool professor and I've already signed up for another one of his classes!!
This was one of my favorite classes taken at NAU so far. I had Mr. Shepardson for 2 class this passed semester and they were both so much fun and engaging. Britton is a really genuine and fun teacher, I hope to work with him more in the future. :)
Prof. Shepardson was super cool, he really cares about you as a student and an individual and he really takes a lot of time and effort to make sure you're understanding the material and gives amazing feedback on assignments. Definitely one of the best professors at this school.
Mr. Shepardson was an amazing teacher that offered lots of helpful feedback and made the class have less work to make learning easier and more fun and its works. I really enjoyed this course and hopefully again in the future.
Took this class to finish out my depth electives for a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Was pleasantly surprised when I actually enjoyed this class and how Professor Shepardson directs the course. I'm glad to see that NAU still has some great professors out there, and I'd honestly take the class again if given the chance
Britton's 104 class is amazing! He has his own website for the course, which takes some time to get used to but after that, it's pretty intuitive. Much of the course is done on your own, but he provides lots of resources for learning. He also lets you choose how you are graded for the course, which I thought was pretty neat.
My favorite class taken so far at NAU. Was recommended by previous student of Britton's to take his class and I highly recommend everyone to do the same. The class is interesting so completing the homework is easy to do when the topics are so fascinating to learn about. Do the homework and take advantage of extra credit opportunities! 10/10
I took Lost Tribes and Buried Cities with Britton for a Global Diversity credit. The class is run on his own website, and students create the content for the most part. It was a really interesting method of teaching, and I loved it! Class time was for asking questions. Super interesting and overall a fun class. There's work involved, but it's fun.
This course was a lot different from what I was used to, so it took time to get familiar with how he runs his class, but after that things ran pretty smoothly.
This guy was so nice and he really cares about his students. There was a little more weekly work for me to consider it an 'easy A', because you have to stay on top of your stuff, but it was an interesting, fun, and easy course!
Keep on the work you are given and you will pass.
Brittin was a very knowledgeable teacher who I could tell is very informed and passionate about his job. The online format with limited communication and in-class learning was a bit difficult though, I found it hard to concentrate during the long videos with no communication.
This class is easily one of the best that I have taken at NAU. As a professor, he did an amazing job and made the class modifiable by offering a choice between weekly quizzes and 3 big exams as how we would be graded. His lectures were very enjoyable and informative, I'm grateful for having the opportunity to have him as a professor.
This is a great professor, if you are a student whos hand does not need to be held and you prefer to do things independently, then this is great. Offers a lot of help and plenty of options to get said help, but none are mandatory. So if you can do things on your own and prefer it that way, he will not hover around and wait on you. you are free here
If you just try at all you'll be fine in the class.
Mr. Shepardson is a truly great teacher who cares about his students succeeding and doing well overall. I thoroughly enjoyed this class this semester learning about the different sites and everything involved understanding how these people lived on earth and grew their knowledge on how to survive.
This was an enjoyable class. Professor Shepardson creates his own website, which was interesting at first but easy to navigate after getting used to. There is an option to chose a weekly or exam option. I chose the weekly option and found it to be an efficient way to learn the material at a good pace without getting overwhelmed.
The class was helpful and educational. You get the grade you work for!
Overall, I really enjoyed this class! The professor is really straightforward and always available for help or questions. Due to COVID-19 I took this course online and still was able to grasp the material and concepts well. The class is built for student success and the professor is very understanding. I would highly recommend this class!
Britton is one of my most favorite teachers that I have ever had, at least in my college career. He is a very accessible professor, open to new ideas, and structures the class in a way that makes you able to actually retain the information. I find that his different approach to teaching is refreshing compared to the common structure of classes.
Class content was presented in two formats, videos and essays written weekly by other students. My only issue with this is some of the homework questions asked weren't covered in any of the essays because the students didn't know certain specifics that the professor wanted to touch on. Aside that, pretty easy but a lot of mental work and analyzing
You are given a weekly or exam option which was nice as I could choose one that works best for me to learn. There is no textbook but each student writes one short essay throughout the term for everyone to use to learn from.
I took this class just as a credit but ended up being so interested in this course. The professor has his own website where we would find assignments and lecture videos and sometimes it was annoying to have it off of BBlearn but once you get used to it it is not bad
Britton (yes, first name basis) is easily one of the best professors I have had spanning multiple departments. He is passionate, incredibly knowledgable, and consistently goes the extra mile for his students. Britton is an exceptional person and will teach you much more than Anthropology. He is honest, fair, and is unmatched by most professors.
I really enjoyed this class. The grading criteria was very straightforward and there are never any surprises. I enjoyed the way the class was set up and students have the option to be graded weekly or by exams. The professor gives good feedback and is very helpful. I would recommend taking this class!
Easy class and easy to read syllabus, makes the assignments and grading procedures easy to understand. Delightful class to take.
Great professor and to go along with that he makes the class fun. Not only this but the the way you are given the course information and work is your choice and it helps people learn better that way.
I really enjoyed taking this course because it is designed in a way where I learn the way I want and it helped me to learn better.
Britton Shepardson is probably one of the best professors to have for an online class. The structure is very flexible for all kinds of learners. I struggle with online classes so I wish personally I had stuck to attending the optional meetings just to have more time to spend talking with Britton one-on-one. Overall you'll have a great experience!
Professor Shepardson's course is well planned out, and you can easily tell that he puts a great amount of effort into his lectures and the class as a whole. This class was super interesting and entertaining, and I enjoyed learning about ancient civilizations!
Professor Britton allows students to pick if they want to be graded by Weekly activities or by Exams.
I really enjoyed this class! I would highly recommend taking a class with professor Shepardson because he truly cares about his students. Not only does he care about his students and want whats best for us however he is super passionate about his job. The class was taught so well and was very organized. Again, highly recommend!
You can tell Professor Shepardson deeply cares about all of his students. He designed the class to with options for the type of assignments, you can take weekly quizzes and never have to touch an exam. Would recommend this class over and over again. You learn a lot but are never growing in work.
Honestly, one of my favorite teachers. This year he had his own website, which had a small learning curve, but is very easy to handle. You almost never have to pop into class, unless you had a specific question or just wanted to chat. Students got to pick between 2 learning styles and the homework was extremely easy. Also had awesome daily music.
I really like this Professor as a person but the class kind of sucked. The problem with the class that I had was that there was no text book, instead he required each student to research and write an essay on class topics. Many times the stuff on the test was not in the student essays and it made it hard to learn what we were supposed to.
Hands down fun class and Dr. Shepardson is a great professor. I took the 7 week course, so it might be different for those that are taking the 12- week session. Note there is no textbook for the course, your material comes from everyone own research essays, he has his own website and very cooperative. Deadlines and points are pretty straight foward
Britton Shepardson's class was one of the best I've taken in my college career so far. He did not disappoint when presenting the material in a cool, organized manner. He tries to make the class so that anyone can thrive, even if you're not a history buff. Always read the directions on assignments. No textbook required.
