This class is amazing! She makes the matieral so understandable. And goes over it multiple times to ensure that you understand it. She will go around the class and talk individually to each student to make sure that they know the material. All around, an AMAZING professor!

The class is easy even for an intro level class. Professor Allen is extremely outgoing and makes the material fun even for those who dread politics. Textbook was never used so save your money. The only warning I would have is a lot of her assignments including the final project are group based, so make sure you work well with others.

Professor Allen is extremely patient, helpful and easy to learn from. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. The only downside was the group project (a downside because of course some of the members did little-to-no work) but even that wasn't so bad and not really the professor's fault. All in all I'd give her a 10 out of 10. :)

Mrs.Allen is an amazing teacher! I had no interest in this class until I took it with her. She made everything very easy to understand and straight forward! No surprises. Super helpful and wants you to succeed! If you don't get an A it's because your lazy and don't come to class! Love her as a teacher!!

Really really easy.I would recommend this class.

I have had many easy classes at MCC. But this class was by far the easiest I have ever taken. Even a 9th grade student can get an A in this class. The teacher let's you use notes on exams and the exams are super easy. Just study the review and you are all set. Book is not required.

I loved this class, and I don't even like politics! The professor is so nice and actually makes the class fun. I learned a lot from this professor and would definitely take her again.

She's great! She's very clear about her expectations and wants you to succeed! The only thing I personally didn't like was a mandatory group project, but she gives time in class for everything.

Such a nice lady, study for quizzes and you'll be fine. Never have homework she's really laid back and offers extra credit. Nothing bad to say about her or the class. Did get boring at times though.

Extremely easy class. If you don't like government, take the course. If you do like government, take the course. Either way if you're taking POLS 1000 at Macomb, choose professor Allen. You will not regret it.

Dr. Allen was excellent. The quizzes are easy; the lectures kinda drag on, but she tries to keep it interesting. She starts each class with "What's going on in the world, today?" It's an easy way to score some participation points! She assigns very little homework, and the projects are simple to complete as well. I definitely recommend her!

Loved her to death. I love Politics in the first place, so this class just made it that much better. She explains everything in depth, quizzes very easy and she's fun and outgoing. 1000000% recommend her! #DrAllenAllTheWay By the way, you don't use the book much. She's very good with powerpoints and hands them out to use. Textbook not needed!

Awesome professor! I had never taken a political science class prior but I am so grateful I took this course with her! She is so nice, helpful, and makes learning about political science easy. She is very laid back and uses different methods for learning which is great! Very little homework, easy extra credit and very interactive course.

First of all this class was extremely easy, and she was helpful but what I disliked about her was that I was 1 point away from getting an A and she didn't give it to me even though I asked. Most professors would have done it.

Super excited professor. Government sounds BORING to everyone; however, she makes it super fun and easy understanding examples. Her grading systems are very easy. Only 4 quizzes (1 free make up for the lowest, exact the one you request for). The exams are straight from what she talks in class and handouts. Highly recommend this professor.

I took this class online and it was very interesting.Her assignments are interactive and very enjoyable.She is very, very organized and wants to you to learn!!She gives you multiple ways to learn the material.She will answer and help you with any questions you may have.I would,without a doubt,recommend her. I was really interested in the subject so I'm glad I took her. However, It's a shame that I took her during a semester that she had to go on maternity leave. She makes the class so simple and so easy. From going over the material right before quizzes to giving a study guide for every quiz or test, she really wants you to do well. Take her class!!!

Super sweet, approachable, and nice. Her lectures are quite clear and she is very helpful in answering any questions. A very easy class! Definitely choose her. I don't remember if attendance was required or not, but she was very easygoing and forthcoming with help and clarification.

She was very organized teacher. She was very clear on when quizzes and tests were along with handing out study guides for each of them. She gives you the knowledge you need to pass the class. It sucks we only got her for half a semester because of maternity leave. If I got the chance I would take her again in a heart beat!

She reviews for the quizzes and tests every class period, gives out reviews, has a variety of teaching techniques--group work, jeopardy games, partners--Her midterm is very easy with most of the questions handed back from the quizzes!! Easy online course, needed the class for credit. Didn't know anything about politics and still found it fairly easy. 3 assignments each week including a quiz. One midterm & final. Easy A if you do all the work! Great professor!

I had no prior interest of politics but she presents it in an unbiased manner and makes it interesting to learn. I never opened my book because all the info is on the powerpoints that she provides for you. I would highly recommend her!

Super easy class! Hands out lecture notes from PowerPoint. Made politics interesting using current events. Study the definitions for all the quizzes, 6 total, lowest one gets dropped. Midterm and final was a little more difficult, but it just makes you think. Highly Recommend her! Easiest political science professor ever.

6 10 question quizzes, a mid-term and final all multiple choice. Study guides given for all of them and note card given for mid-term and final. Lectures are straight to the point and only goes over what you need for the tests. Didn't open the textbook once because her notes were all we needed. Go to class, pay attention, get an A.

She was an awesome teacher. I do not like anything to do with politics but I had to take this class for credit. The assignments are easy and you will learn a lot. the 6 quizzes are not to bad and then you have 2 exams. I just used google and the book for the quiz and exams. EASY A. Easy grader. TAKE HER!

Knows what shes talking about. Graduated from UofM, is highly respected from the other faculty. She doesn't ask anything that she hasn't already discussed. Study and you will pass. Only thing I ever had a problem with was attendance.

clear, gives good feedback, drops lowest quiz, 3 extra credit assignments, 1 midterm, 1 final, kind of a tough grader; deducted 1/2 pts here and there, kind of a lot of reading and watching long videos, I took it with 2 other classes and got an A, kind of a lot of work in 8 weeks. would recommend!

I took her class online and it was by far the most clearly laid out online class I've taken. Always gives fast and good feedback. Very clear as to what was expected and workload was a good amount. Gives some good extra credit opportunities. All of the lectures are narrated and cover what would be in the book so I found the book to be unnecessary.

I needed this class to further my career. I am glad I took it with Professor Allen! I enjoyed the discussions and the comments she would give on the assignments.

Dr. Allen gives you real perspective on the political climate and what you can do to change the environment. She opens your eyes to things you may have not realized before. And connects you to several platforms for future interaction with government and groups fighting for civil rights.

Dr. Allen is a great professor, she's always willing to answer questions and help you with material you may not understand. She lectures a lot , but all of her notes are handed out in power point form. She gives tests throughout the semester, but gives you ample time to prepare. The grade you get will revolve around your tests/quizzes.

this was my first online class it was pretty easy. for it being an advanced 8 week class, there is not a heavy workload! all assignments are mostly opinionated, so its easy. there is a weekly quiz thats based off lectures. the ebook was required but i did not get it. i received an A in the class. do not like politics but this class was great.

Professor Allen is very kind and teaches the class in almost an elementary school manner, which can be frustrating if you're looking for a challenge. She is very intelligent and keeps her lectures bipartisan which is hard to find in a political science class. Most of the work is in class and she offers numerous opportunities for extra credit.

Dr. Brooke Allen has been one of my favorite professors by far. She is very knowledgeable and the lectures were very interesting. Her class has inspired me to peruse a degree in International Relations!

Allen was the best professor i ever had. exams werent bad, and quizzes were easy if you pay attention and write notes on top of the packet she gives you. She made Politics fun and interesting and offered extra credit. I would definitely take it with her again.

I knew nothing about politics before taking this class but Dr. Brooke Allen is such an amazing professor and she helps you a lot if you need help with the class. Her quizzes are somewhat difficult but as long as you pay attention you should be fine. She offers a lot of extra credit so there is some room for mistakes, she's very passionate & caring.

I really like her! She explains things very well, gives a study guide for all quizzes and exams, has a lot of extra credit, and is caring person. She tries to be funny, and sometimes succeeds. I would definitely take her again.

Such a nice professor!! She's always really positive and she lectures with a lot of energy. The notes, study guides, and tests were almost exactly the same, so it was easy to study, and the group assignments were really simple.

I would very highly recommend Prof Allen. She gives awesome lectures, and is such a positive, nice person. Her class is super fun. She facilitates good in-class discussions. The class is very easy. Most of the material on the quizzes and exams is from her slides. But if you miss a class you'll miss in-class group work that carries required credit.

She is an amazing professor! There is some homework, but only occasionally and it's easy. Her grading is fair and consists of quizzes, exams, homework, and class participation, so your grade doesn't completely depend on one test or quiz. I would highly recommend taking her class!

She was super nice! I really Enjoyed her class and I passed with a C (luckily) . I took 14 credits this summer and she was the easiest content wise, but was a tough grader. She wasn't very lenient on assignments. I emailed her because I had the stomach flu and she said she wanted a doctors note for it... thats my only complaint.

brooke is passionate and an outstanding professor. the course is organized through her powerpoint slides that you can access on canvas. Extra credit + drop the lowest test score, talk about second chances. She delivers lots of information in a fun brilliant way and will literally change you to a well-educated person in politics. Dr. Allen is seriously awesome. So nice and kind. She knows her stuff and is very good at educating the clueless and the knowledgeable alike. Hands down the nicest professor I've had. She's easy on the eyes and seriously is a must take. Take some notes and follow the quiz/exam study guides and you'll achieve a good grade.

Dr. Allen was awesome. She had great lectures and review guides for quizzes and tests. She also offered extra credit, which I strongly encourage to do it. If you ever have her, you'll see how kind and sweet of a person she is who cares about what she's teaching and the students learning it.

She marked down for specific things to the point where it was only half points being marked, but she gave good reasoning/ feedback as to why. Gave extra credit. Homework was easy and so were quizzes/ midterm/ final. Textbook was used slightly. I never bought it and still did good on all my assignments and got a B+ in the class. Discussions good.

I enjoyed her class. I expected politics to be boring but she made it more interesting. Assignments were fun and easy. She will mark down for not staying on topic with discussions and grammar errors. Study the power points for tests and you'll do fine.

As an online class I thought it was pretty straightforward. You will get writing and assignments and multiple choice quizzes/tests. If you study it shouldn't be too hard of a class.

Professor Allen is the sweetest lady! Her course is difficult if you dont pay attention and follow along with the lectures. If you skip class you will miss out on a lot of information you will need for the tests. You do have to work hard but she makes the class is interesting. Follow all the work guidelines and you will pass.

Professor Allen is amazing. Very clear grading criteria and very easy to do well if you are staying up to date and completing assignments. In Winter 2021, the online POLS 1000 class consisted of a discussion post, weekly assignment, and a quiz or exam (in terms of what was due). I would absolutely take her again if I have the chance.

Not an easy class, but is manageable and you can easy get A if you pay attention and follow the requirements for the discussion forums. The weekly quizzes are not "easy", almost all are with multiple (5) choices answers and sometimes are confusing and easy to make mistake. She drop 1 of the quizzes (the lowest grade one) from your overall grade.
