He's one of those guys who laughs at his own jokes, rushes through the lectures while you struggle to take notes. Too much information is expected to be memorized. Impossible tests.
This guy knows his stuff. He is teaching the basic course, but focuses mainly on sedimentary rocks because he is a paleotologist. He makes the class ineteresting and is a good teacher and a great guy. I recommend him for anyone serious about geology. Peace!
Dr. Britt was one of my favorite teachers. I really learned a lot in this class. His jokes were terrible, but they made class more fun.
I took this course online and I found it to be very informative and helpful. All the material he puts on his tests are in the practice quizes, so study with those. The class is boring, but you get extra credit for coming. Easy A if you keep up with the deadlines.
I guess you either like him...or you don't. He thinks he is very funny in his lectures (which he rushes through very disorderly) and expects a lot of 'busy work' to be done. He doesn't seem to go by the textbook, but he still expects you to know what's in the textbook. He likes to put students on the spot, too, about off-subject stuff.
I absolutely loved him. His jokes were dry, but i thought they were great. The tests were challenging, but if you do the practice quizzes online, then you are set. He knows so much, and you learn a lot...especially on the field trips!
I didn't actually go to class that often, except for labs. I found his lectures boring and unhelpful. The class isn't that hard, but he words his tests funny and I consistently scored in the 70s-80s even though I aced assignments. Study EVERYTHING for tests!
Britt is a great professor and tries really hard to connect with his students. He gives a study guide and make sure you know everything on it. He gives tons of extra credit and if you are willing to work hard you can get an A!
Dr. Britt is a professional in his field. He knows what he's talking about and his excitement for the subject is evident. The tests are reasonable and he provides study guides/sessions. If you don't leave college knowing that dinosaurs didn't fly or swim, you didn't learn anything.
Dr. Britt is a very nice guy and is very excited about his subject. He wants everyone to understand and is very helpful. 5 assignments the entire semester, but 25 quizes online (identical to the practice website ones.) Once you know that they're easy. Nice guy. Makes things interesting. Very funny. Highly reccomend.
I think Dr. Britt is great professor. I really enjoyed his dry, off the wall humor. It definitely made me want to come to class every time just because he's so passionate about the subject. Everything I learned was way interesting, but it was way hard to get all the reading done and understand what he's talking about. Lectures were disorganized.
I had Dr. Britt's "life of the past" class during Fall 2006. He is an expert in his field, and there are few people in this world who can claim to have dug up more dinosaurs than him. His class was extremely interesting, and changed the way that I look at life. 2 1/2 years later, I still love the topic. I recommend his class to everyone!!!!
Dr. Britt was one funny guy. Dinosaurs was really interesting and fun and I learned a lot from him. He knows a lot about the subject and is very passionate about dinosaurs.
This class changed my perspective of the world. Dr. Britt really knows his stuff. His lectures are disorganized, and studying for tests is tricky because there's so much material to cover, but Dr. Britt has a great sense of humor and true passion for what he teaches. The research papers are a pain, but doable. It takes some effort to do well.
If you enjoy spending hours upon hours writing papers, taking quizzes, going on field trips, completing assignments, and taking ridiculously hard and comprehensive tests, all for a 3.0 credit class, then go ahead and take this. I spent more time working for this class than any of my others, and it was the only class I received a lower grade in. ugh
His class was so hard to follow, his lectures were very disorganized and you had no clue how to study for tests. Also he accused me of plagiarism even though I cited my sources in my term paper. Writing his research papers took way too long for the grade you get on them. You would definitely need to absolutely love geology to do well in this class.
awful. he is only concerned with publishing and does not care very much about the class and his students. the TA does all the work and all the real teaching. ridiculous. he does not think-at all-about how the class may be for students or how he could teach info better. just expects the students to read his mind. why is he a professor at all?
AMAZING! Love this man! if you do the reading and study, your work will pay off! he is hilarious, learns all the students names, and cares about your life, not just your grade! love this man!
This class is fairly easy, just time consuming. The lectures are quite dry but Dr. Britt asks if you are understanding. The field trips are the best part but the class overall is pretty dry and time consuming.
Dr. Britt is so passionate about the subject but that was the only thing that made it interesting for me. The readings are extremely challenging if you're not a science person and the work load is pretty heavy. Don't just think this class will be an A because it's a 100 level class, be prepared to work your butt off!!!
This class was my least favorite and I wouldn't suggest it. If you do decide to take it, here's what to expect: weekly quizzes online, 2 midterms and a final, extremely boring textbook, 2 term papers, and a lot of boredom. I would only suggest taking this class if you really like geology. He knows his stuff really well, go to the test reviews!
Less about dinosaurs and more about general geology than I would have liked. Still, it's a fun class to take in the summer! Being a freshman class it has a lot of busywork, but that also means it isn't too complicated. Just make sure you have time for it in your schedule, some of the projects can take a long time.
Dr Britt is amazing. He has a remarkable passion for his subject which combined with his very entertaining personality makes class a joy. There were some problems with the class but these were really all the TA's fault and Dr Britt made sure that, even though it was frustrating during the semester, grades turned out fine in the end.
Dr. Britt is my favorite professor! He knows his stuff and is involved and interested in the subject. I definitely want to take another class from him, even if I just audit. He will answer any questions you have and makes the topic fun and interesting. The field trips are informative and the assignments are not hard.
Dr. Britt is awesome. I've only had 1 or 2 professors who are more personable and helpful, but also hilarious. The man is a crack up. Just be ready from him to razz you if you pipe up. This class was ok, but his tests are KILLER. They destroyed me and I studied 30+ hours per exam. It didn't help that our TA wasn't very good.
The only good thing about Dr. Britt is that he knows his stuff and you will learn from him. Unfortunately he gets his jollies from ridiculing others and anyone he disagrees with is a "moron". He might respect you if you are a pretty girl, but otherwise don't count on him taking you seriously.
Professor Britt is a great teacher! He is great at teaching the subject and he knows what he's talking about. He also has a great personality that keeps everyone in class interested. I would highly recommend him to any student that wants to take his class.
I loved Dr. Britt! Yeah... maybe his jokes were dry but at least he isn't boring! He really knew his stuff and is extremely helpful. Just get your work done and you'll be fine! Go to the review sessions - they are SUCH a big help!
Dr. Britt is an amazing, kind, smart professor! He made this class amazing! He loves paleontology and because of him, this class was AMAZING. He's a renowned Paleontologist. I have loved dinosaurs my whole life. I loved learning about dinosaurs and this has been my favorite class ever at BYU. AWESOME field trips, you get to hunt for bones!! wow!
Professor Britt is a great teacher and the tests aren't bad if you know the material well. However, there is a lot to know. He also tends to put a lot of irrelevant information on the power points so you have to sort out what's important and what's not. He also does 2 or 3 online quizzes a week that are open textbook but still kind of tough.
Do NOT take this class. I grew up loving dinosaurs but this class was horrible. It is honestly a pointless class and is harder than a 100 level class should be. There are two 5 page papers plus a bunch of one-page papers. It sounds like an easy, fun class but it's not. You better be good at using Learningsuite to see when things are due!
Honestly, Brooks is a great guy but this class is not worth the trouble. Classes are long and tests are extremely specific. Many questions come from picture captions and graphs in the textbook. Lectures and textbook are also extremely vague and scattered. He can be self righteous, so if you have a hard time with that be aware. Field trips are fun.
I really like this class. Content can be a little dull but Dr. Britt is awesome. I would hire him as my father-in-law. Really helpful and kind. Chapter reading with quizzes every chapter. Papers graded by TAs are not too bad. Would suggest getting TA help on labs. Can be tricky. Overall good experience.
Overrated. People just like a professor who's funny, not talented. Lectures are disorganized, all your learning comes from the book, poor teacher, hardly ever in office hours, and is often demeaning to students. The class isn't bad if you're a good student. Need to know what you learn in the book well. Material was cool, but wouldn't recommend him.
An engaging professor who captures your interest in the dynamic processes of our Earth. Do not be alarmed by his relentless efforts to sway students to the Geology department, just demonstrates his love for the field. Really appreciates participation, and if he calls you out for being a country music fan or cat-lover, just means he respects you. ;)
Prof. Britt is an engaging and interactive teacher who loves student participation and making geology jokes. Take heavy notes from the textbook and on his power points, and make sure you go to class because his lectures really solidify the information.
Meh. This class shouldn't be called "Dinosaurs," but maybe "Geologic Principles of Prehistoric Life." Not much about actual dinosaurs. Tons of busy work, too much group work with huge groups, and tests are in-between hard and easy. Class time drags on. Better than other general science classes, but not by much. But the field trips are way fun!
Lectures were always dry, unengaging and most always off topic. Field trips were fun, but I could not stand going to lecture. You'd be surprised how somebody could take a topic like dinosaurs and suck all the fun out of it.
Britt definitely has a love for Geology. But he should spend more time explaining concepts rather than talking about how "mind boggling" all of it is. Get ready to memorize the textbook because you won't learn much from his lectures alone. In fact, he doesn't take attendance so I suggest skipping class and using that time to read the textbook.
He is very witty--always cracking jokes & saying funny things--often ridiculous things, but still hilarious. His love for dinosaurs & geology help class a lot. Lectures are important because the textbook is slightly out of date & because he doesn't put everything on the slides. Field trips! If you love dinosaurs, you'll love this class! Busy work.
The class was pretty challenging, but it's doable. Just gotta study for once. His lectures are jumbled at times but he's really passionate about what he does. Though this class was challenging, I would take it again because of Dr. Britt.
He is my favorite professor at BYU. He deeply cares about paleontology and this class has urged me to pursue it. He is very hilarious and his lectures are straight up funny. If you get to know him, he is like a father figure. He will try his best to solve all your problems, even if they don't involve anything related to the class. He is awesome!
If you're taking this class for a GE credit, it's not the most interesting of topics. However, Professor Brooks makes lectures endurable with his wit and jokes. The class itself is not too challenging if you pay attention and do your reading. There are also opportunities to raise your grade such as book quizzes, extra credit, and short reports.
Dr. Britt is great. He has so much love for geology and he is so nice. Took this class for my GEs, but was super fun. love the field trips and the labs. Study for the midterms though. Before taking the midterms he gives a review session in class, DONT MISSED THAT!
Professor Britt is hilarious and found a way to make geology appealing to those not majoring in it. Lots of reading and a few field trips but he was highly flexible and willing to do what he could to help student succeed.
Geology 103 really isn't the most interesting of subjects for those who are taking it as a GE but Professor Brooks certainly makes it enjoyable. He's pretty much the king of dad jokes but although he likes to joke around, he really knows his stuff. Lots of reading and two main papers but you can get extra credit if you're falling behind.
PROFESSOR BRITT IS THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. This guy is freaking hilarious. Like honestly. SO FUNNY. I really loved this class. I mean, when else are you going to be able to learn about dinosaurs? Probably never. This class is a lot of work (papers, quizzes, group projects), but it is 100% worth it. Take it!!!
The lectures could get a little boring but his humor made it better! His tests are multiple choice. USE THE STUDY GUIDE and fill it out during lectures, he'll make it available if you ask. 6 question quizzes every class, the field trips are super fun! Not a hard grader.
Dr. Britt is absolutely fantastic. I have seen on here that people don't like his teaching style, but it is phenomenal. Any dislike of the class should be attributed to a fault of the student, in my opinion. Was a great class! Dr. Britt earned my respect, and he is a great man!
Hilarious. He can make a Geology lecture funny enough to suffer through. A lot of writing, but probably better than other Geology classes. Good class for non science people.
I have LOVED my experience in class with Dr. Britt. Not only is this guy hilarious, he really does a great job of explaining concepts and preparing you for the exam. The workload is the usual readings and some essays. I would certainly take a class from him again. It's been my favorite GE course!
Best professor I've ever had! Such a spiritual learning experience...I would take this class all over again!
Dr Britt (BBB is his nickname) is AMAZING. He is absolutely hilarious, he prepares slides, test study guides, exam study guides, a class party, field trips and is very flexible with working with you on what you struggle in class. There are lots of group work in this class, so its a good way to make friends. He has lots of experience. Amazing man!
You get to go on awesome field trips (Thanksgiving Pt, Spanish Fork Canyon, etc.). Dr. Britt is hysterical and one of those teachers that appreciates sarcasm. Take notes in class, but usually class and the textbook teach the same things. There's a couple of papers, but not anything horrible. Tests are easy.
Dr. Britt is a man whose calling in life is to study dinosaurs. This makes for a very engaging experience because he just wants to share his love of dinosaurs with the class. Sometimes this does mean that the more administrative/organizational aspects of teaching a class fall by the wayside, but overall it is a very interesting and enjoyable class.
He is an absolute unit. Best professor I've ever had.
I really liked Prof Britt. Loved the class. Engaging lectures (a lot of info to cover and pretty complicated when you have to remember and differentiate all the Latin) but totally would take this class again, one of my favorites.
Definitely wasnt my favorite teacher. I thought the lectures were boring and dry. Stopped going to class after thanksgiving, but did okay on the tests.
Oh my heck I freaking love this guy. He has the best sense of humor! As long as you attend class and do the readings, you will do just fine. His study guides are very helpful, and I always did well on the tests (even got 100% once!). We had a pizza party at the end. The group projects are a bit annoying, but it is so worth it to be in his class.
Loved this class and Professor Britt! He gives you multiple extra credit opportunities, mostly coming from reading a really great book that you can take quizzes on. Hes hilarious, makes the class easy, but you can honestly do really well just by going to test reviews, doing the study guide and going over his posted slides
I don't particularly like geology (I took it cause I like chem less), but 95% of the time, I forgot that in Prof Britt's class! He is the funniest professor I've had. There are a couple of things that you should be aware of: He goes through ppts at light speed, I swear, so count on never catching everything. Also, the textbook was a beast :/
This professor knows his stuff. Sometimes it was hard to follow lectures, but the grading criteria is very clear. Go to the TA reviews and you'll do GOOD. The TA is your go-to for getting an A. This professor is so funny and I enjoyed his comments. Dinosaurs aren't my thing, but I would choose this class again over other courses for my GE credit.
I liked prof Brooks but not his tests. It required knowing really small details and sometimes asked about stuff we hadn't learned yet. There is lots of busy work but there is also LOTS of extra credit, so you don't have to do well on tests. He disagrees with a lot of stuff the textbook says so you cant fully rely on that which can be confusing.
Brooks is a fantastic professor! I'm convinced he knows as much about dinosaurs as anyone alive. Because he's passionate about them, he expects you to learn you stuff, so the tests are pretty hard, but if you can see past the grade you'll realize you're learning a ton. I loved his class (do the extra credit and you'll get a magic +5% at the end)!
I loved this class, take it if you like dinosaurs. He knows EVERYTHING about them Sometimes is disorganized, you never know what you should know from lecture, but he basically goes over the test in the review, and there are so many extra credit opportunities that you'll be fine if you do them. Lots of cool field trips, and one very easy paper.
I love this man. He is probably one of the best teachers I have ever had in my life. I actually love dinosaurs because of this man. Even though this class was online with hundreds of kids, some how by the end of it, he knew me personally. I only made a hand full of comments in class, but he remembered all of them!
I LOVE Prof Britt. I honestly have 0 interest in geology, but he made it interesting and entertaining, which is super impressive. Funny lectures, tells you all the "cool stuff, man" and is super knowledgeable. Not an easy A, but he gives you all the resources you need to be successful. Reading quizzes, two papers, three exams. Enjoyed the class
Super nice professor who really cares about getting to know his students. BUT I have never been more confused than in this class. I was lost the whole semester. His lectures were extremely confusing, and there were 3 a week. His tests were so hard, there is so much memorization on random topics that don't seem important, but are on the tests.
Britt is a nice guy, but his class is extremely confusing. I don't think I fully understood one lecture I was in, and it was 3 times a week. Also, the tests are extremely difficult. The study guide rarely covers all the little details he tests on. Very nice guy, but I would never recommend this class.
Pretty entertaining, but he went on lots of tangents during lectures that made them difficult to follow. Pretty easy, I paid next to no attention during lecture, spent very little time on this class, and still got a solid A. Lots of extra credit opportunities if you need them. MC questions weren't worded well and he sometimes contradicts the book
Professor Brooks' class teaches students to become effective learners in courses unrelated to their major. So, reading your textbook, quizzing yourself, participating in class will help you attain the most out of his classes. Additionally, do the extra credit reading! It made a massive difference in how I approached his and other classes.
Dr. Britt was my favorite professor this semester! His lectures were super entertaining and he provided lots of useful study tools. The material was fun and I understood it well from his teaching. He also offers extra credit which is available all semester. Overall- amazing class!
This class is the balance of easy material with just enough studying and memorization to make for an ideal GenEd class. Professor will meet with you outside of class (we still keep in touch a year later) and is enthusiastic about what he teaches. A bit scatter brained at times but it hilarious and caring. Study the reviews and you'll do great!
Professor Britt really knows his stuff and is very funny. His lectures were fun and he often brought in casts of fossils to show to the class. His study guides are HUGE, but if you understand the main ideas of the chapters and lessons you can base your studying on those. Overall, it was a fun class and he was a great professor.
I liked Prof. Britt. He was caring and funny. However, I did have a few qualms with the class. The lectures at times felt all over the place, and the exams were strangely hard, even with a lot of study beforehand. It wasn't impossible, though, and this was still a solid class. Super interesting stuff, and Prof. Britt is very passionate about it.
I swear he invented dinosaurs, he knows everything and is so passionate about teaching this course! His lectures are entertaining, and there are in class quizzes but they're low points. It can be hard to tell what is actually on the test, so I started taking notes right on the study guide as we went through and it helped a lot. Pretty easy class!
Professor Britt is legit so funny. He makes lectures fun and I never felt super bored in class. He asks how we are doing and cares about the students. There is reading weekly or biweekly in the textbook for quizzes. There are also two term papers in this class which is not fun, but there was a whole list of topics we got to choose from .
Professor Britt was so helpful! I got covid partway through the semester, and he was the most flexible and helpful of all of my professors. Additionally, when I was concussed he was the most compassionate to my needs. The class takes effort - make sure you do your readings and work hard on the papers, but an A is totally possible if you work. 10/10
Fun class and probably one of the best Professors on campus. He brings in the spirit and gives us dinosaur skulls to touch. My only criticism would be mandatory lectures (because quizzes were given after class) and 5 page papers. It just seemed a bit too difficult for a class about dinosaurs. I learned lots, but I'm done with this class.
Professor Britt is a good professor for people who do not care about science. If you are not interested in science, take it. If you are, this class is not particularly challenging.
Possibly the worst class I've ever taken at BYU. The course is to fill a GE, but all the lectures are very science jargon heavy so I didn't understand what he was talking most of the time. Goes against the textbook sometimes. and goes on lots of side tangents. Tests are unnecessarily hard and specific, even with the study guides he makes.
Prof. Britt was awesome! His lectures are straight comedy. The lectures are a little crazy and hard to fully grasp. He goes pretty fast through the slides, so take time to review them after class. He gives you a ton of extra credit opportunities, so take advantage of those and you'll be okay. Super cool class that teaches more than just dinosaurs.
Professor Britt is fantastic! His passion for what he teaches really comes through in lecture and in conversation with him. Exams were somewhat specific, but overall I really enjoyed the class. Highly recommend!
I love Dr. Britt! I had such a good time in his class and learned so much. There are readings and quizzes before class and quizzes after most lectures, but they can help your grade in the long run. There are also two term papers that for me were a bit stressful. He is hilarious and really so passionate about his field!! I don't regret this GE.
For a 100 level class, this was ridiculously hard. There were 2-3 chapters to read per week, disorganized lectures, 2 long research papers on topics not covered in lectures, in-class quizzes, and study guides did not prepare for tests. Some questions on tests were nowhere to be found on the study guide. Find another physical science class.
I will give credit to Professor Britt- he knows his stuff. However, the expectations for a GE and a 100 class were unreal. Two 5-page papers, 2-3 chapters of reading a week, inaccurate study guide, disorganized and irrelevant lectures. It was not organized learning. Difficult exams.
In a 100 class called Dinosaurs! I thought it would be just right for me wanting to get a GE If you don't love dinosaurs don't take You are required to turn in a draft of 2 5 page term papers but don't get any feedback on them The final paper is graded getting into the nitty gritty Nice person but lectures were unorganized, quick and jargon filled
An amazing professor! Very hilarious and passionate about his field of work and you can tell in lectures. There are assigned readings and pre-lecture quizzes before every lecture. The TAs are helpful with providing decent study guides and hold review sessions. Britt is very willing to answer questions and gives a lot of extra credit.
He's really funny but it gets old real quick. The class had easy pre-lecture quizzes, two 5-page research papers, 3 exams, and an attendance quiz. The class is not as fun as you'd think but it's still interesting.
I LOVED PROFESSOR BRITT!!!! He literally looks like he stepped out of the movie Jurassic Park. He is so funny and is so brilliant. Make sure you study for the tests and focus on memorization but other than that it was such a breeze!! He really wants his students to succeed and gives out cool fossils!
Hilarious guy, I loved lectures. As a non-science major, I took this class hoping for an easy time and to learn fun things about dinos. I learned lots of cool dinosaur stuff, but it was honestly a lot harder than I had expected. You are expected to know LOTS of info. If you want to take the class and are hoping to get by without studying, good luck
Professor Britt is awesome! This class was really hard but I learned so much. If you want an easy GE do not take this class! This is a great class if you want to challenge yourself and learn a lot!
Professor Britt is so fun! He is passionate about what he teaches. It is a great class, but sometimes got away from me. I did great on the first exam and then not so great on the second. He showed mercy to the whole class and let us all retake it. He wants you to succeed. I would definitely take a class from him again because it was so much fun.
This class was really interesting! Professor Britt brought in fossils for us to see and touch. It was however a very time consuming GE and you really need to study for the tests. You need to go to each lecture because there are in class quizzes. This class was just a lot of work but Professor Britt is pretty reasonable and gives extra credit.
I LOVED THIS CLASS! I took this class hoping to have fun and learn something new while knocking out some GE credits. This class was harder than I expected, with two 5-page papers and in-class quizzes almost every class. However, Professor Britt was very understanding and his whole goal was for us to have a good time and learn how to enjoy science.
I took Dinosaurs from Dr. Britt and it was really interesting. He is really funny but be warned of his TAs. There are quizzes almost every day based on the lectures so make sure to pay attention. He really knows his stuff, but has lots of slides that are unimportant for what you need to study. Find a friend in this class and it will help you a lot.
Britt is a solid dude. Dinosaurs (geology 100) IS NOT A BLOW OFF CLASS! It is fun but it's not easy. There are a lot of quizzes and essays. However, the class is very interesting and I would take it again. There are no field trips; the course description is outdated. But worth it to not take physical science.
Britt was fantastic. He's super fun and makes the class relatively easy. A couple papers and tests will take some time to complete/study for. Almost every class has a quiz worth a few points, but they'll just be the main ideas from the lecture, and the questions are essentially what are on the tests. I would recommend 100%.
Dr. Britt is a super fun teacher, but this class was way too time consuming for a GE. There's a ton of homework, and two 5 page term papers. It's not an easy blow off GE.
Super funny and engaging lectures. Surprising amount of papers/essays for a GE class, but the material is interesting enough that I didn't find that to be a problem.
Professor Britt is the best! As long as you're proactive and put real effort into the assignments, you will be fascinated and enthralled by the world of dinosaurs that he lets you into! Absolutely take this class if you like having fun!
This guy focusses more on making his students laugh than teaching, maybe he should consider being a comedian instead. The amount of work for a GE class is INSANE. DO NOT take this class if you want an easy A for the physical science GE. HE CAN'T teach, never stays on topic. He is by far the worst professor I've had. Very nice guy, awful teacher.
I absolutely loved Professor Britt! I enjoyed going to his lectures, and he is so engaging and hilarious! There are two papers you have to write, but if you go by the rubric and get feedback from the writing center it's not bad! To study for the tests, fill out his study guides. He always tests from that material! Such a fun general!
Britt's GEO100 class is fun but challenging. Lots of quizzes and essays, but he makes it engaging. Definitely not an easy A, but worth it to learn about dinosaurs. unstuck study was super helpful for preparing for exams.
LOVED HIM!! Hilarious, caring, and also focused on his students learning. This class can be difficult and a lot of work at times but Dr. Britt makes an already fun topic so much better. If your interested, this is a great general to take!
Instructions are vague, essay instructions are very strict DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
He is a good guy and all, but he is the kind of professor who is not clear in the exam reviews, unclear on what is important for the content of the class, and does not explain things well
This class is extremely easy if you put in minimum effort. The exams have in class review sections where Professor Britt reads straight from the exam for what we need to know and the TAs host review sessions with all the information needed. The lectures are very engaging and Britt is funny, interesting, and enthusiastic with the topic. Would rec!
Professor Britt is funny, engaging, and passionate about the stuff he teaches. Gives decent extra credit. The course is definitely more difficult than a lot of people assume going into it, but manageable especially if you actually put time into it. Britt has a tendency to get off topic during lectures which can make it difficult for note taking.
This professor does not care about his students. There are no exceptions for ANYTHING. He speaks to me and my peers rudely and doesn't think about his students on a personal level. Never taking a class with him again.
He's hilarious. He loves getting to know his students. And he's SO knowledgable and literally famous in the paleontology world. There are pop quizzes which are pretty hard if you're not really into the content, and there's particularly one paper that is soooo time consuming it's wild. But I would say overall, it's a reasonable class and he's great.
He is funny and entertaining, but lectures are kind of unbearable. He isn't very organized or clear about what is important to know because he goes off on so many tangents. You have to attend class because of in-class quizzes. Everything I learned from this course was either from the textbook or the TA reviews. The TA reviews will save your life!!
Easy general to get out of physical science and the content was interesting, but the lectures were horrible -- he is so disorganized and I honestly didn't learn anything from class but there are in class quizzes so you can't skip. Go to the TA reviews because they help so much!! There is a big term paper but you get all semester to work on it.
