This was a great teacher. I just took his class and made an A. Hes very clear and easy to understand. Will explain things as much as needed without making you feel dumb.Plenty of notes but everything in tests is in them. Not too many quizes. Not strict with tardiness. I will take his 1302 class. Makes history interesting. Highly recommend!!!

I hated History until I took this class. Mr. Brooks is very helpful and explains things completely. He makes the class very interesting. I am definitely taking him for 1301.

Best prof of history if u fail you really need to Rethink because this class is informative ,logical and easy reviews tells u about what to expect on the test ,very to the point and u learn a lot u will not sleep in this history class.Mr Brooks u are the best.

One of my favorite classes to date. I took his fall "mini-mester" class and had a blast. He loves to discuss and debate and encourages an active classroom. Not particularly challenging, but it doesn't have to be. You learn a lot and will likely retain more than you would in most classes. Highly recommended!

Mr. Lewellen is awesome. He makes learning history fun and he's a really nice guy. Don't buy any books for this class, I got an A just by paying attention in class and taking notes. Take his class if you need to take HIST 1301 I highly recommend him

He is the best history teacher. I hated history all my life but now I like history after taking his class. He made it so interesting that I cannot miss a class.

Class was pretty easy. Just need to go and take good notes. If you miss a class best to get notes from other classmate and then read topics from book. Although in class book is hardly used. Overall pretty decent guy and willing to give you options. I don't think he's doing extra credit next semester (spring 2011) though.

Class was pretty easy though you have to take VERY detailed notes. Its the little things in your notes that he'll trick you with on a test but if you take good notes you'll be fine. Had 3 test, 8 quizzes, and 2 book reports. Passed with a B. Made history really interesting so i looked forward to attending class. DEFINITELY would recommend him.

HIST 1301 was easy with him got a B, HIST 1302 failed. He changed his test, its an all written test 5 ppl 10 terms and 2 essays. You have to take a lot to notes to pass your test's which area a lot so dont study or get good note your failling

Fall 2010 -VERY interesting class. You HAVE TO WORK and take really good notes EVERY CLASS. Missed notes mean missed test questions. He'll even have test questions about films that he shows, so pay attention. Had 2 class presentations, 3 tests, 8 quizzes, and 1 bk rpt. Enjoyed his class and would definitely recommend him to others. Good luck!

Had him 1301 and passed with a B then took him for HIST1302 and failed. You have to go everyday for not if you miss get them!!! 3 test and writen no mulit choich. Can be a good teacher if your a good note taker and study your notes

He does make the class interesting by he choose with topic he will spend the most time on and sometime start ratting on about one subject, like to cram lot of material that want even be used are on his test, lot of wasted time on create things, exam is essay, WRITING , WRITING,WRITING, no multiple choices at all and 2 book report, don't buy book.

Made the class interesting. This is the BEST history teacher ever. I made a B in history 1 & a A in history 2. You have to take really good notes, you do not need a textbook for his class unless you want more information for the essay topics. He gives reviews which he gives the answers to the essay topics. You want an easy A? TAKE HIM!!

He a know his material, lots of writting go overall, blue book exam writing out everything everytime, he doesn't give a review but give you a whole lot of lecture to study on, He grades really hard. so if you take him know you will have to study, in time for playing around all the way up to the final exam.

Professor was pretty clear of what's expected in class. Notes given out are what you need for his exams. So taking good notes is important. easy class, great professor completely recommend!

A fun & informative class, he gives you a ton of info for notes. I had him for a summer class, and enjoyed everyday that I attended. I would definitely take him for 1302. A word of advice, stay for the movie, it will be worth your while.

i am not a history person but in this class i learned a lot. he makes sure you understand. the test are heard but you will pass if you pay attention. remember the people and places. be very detailed...that is the key to passing the test. he gives a lot of notes i made a c in the class....be sure to attend class.

I took his class for both 1301 and 1302 and received an A for both. His test are kind of hard but if you take good notes, you should be fine. His test are written based. I have never been interested in history until I took his class. I would take his class if you want learn more about history.

I do not recommend this teacher besides 3 exams he will load you with 2 book reports and 5 e reader questions. Even if you get good grades from exams you might end up with a C from the course because of useless assignments

He is a good teacher and makes history interesting, but this class is not for slackers. He gives multiple easy quizzes, but be ready for the 2 Very Detailed book reports and 5 e reader assignments in addition to his hard everything written out no multiple choice essay question exams. Overall a good teacher but you have to be willing to work.

I took his summer course and I didn't even buy the book, made an A. Take careful notes. 5 easy quizzes. 3 tests including final, tests do have 2 essay questions. Only major complaint is that he asks the class a lot of questions about what we thought would happen next and everyone just guessed until he finally gave up or someone guessed right.

This class is great. Learned a lot through this prof. I would take this class again if I could. Only got a C because I missed a test. He does allow you to make up, I unfortunately didn't, but don't make it a habit. Consist of 2 exams and the final, all for written form, group project (grade can be used toward 1 of the 2 book reports needed)

Honestly if your looking for an average run of the Mill History teacher that give you an A, for regurgitating knowledge on a multiple choice question test then Mr. B isnt ur guy. He is fair although can be sarcastic and blunt. You cannot miss class because he does not put notes up so you have to write down and pay attention to everything he says. His tests are all open ended so you MUST study! All include 5 people, 5 terms, and 2 essay questions. It is a lot of work but if you study you will get an A !

Guys if you are an A student don't take him. He is cool in giving notes but expects you to give back more than what he's asking for in the test. Over all good professor. I took him over the summer. According to him his summer courses are way easier than the regular semester course. Straight to the point, and gives a heads up on what he will be looking for on tests and quizzes. If you study and take good notes in his class you will do fine!

He is truly passionate about history. EASY quizzes, 3 exams for the whole semester and 10 e-readers, pretty simple, not difficult at all, just read an article and summarize it. Videos, lectures, A LOT of interaction. AMAZING professor. No homework other than the E-readers. He is very understanding, history will seem easy and interesting.

Professor Lewellen is a good professor. His lectures are interesting (especially with the right class). Study everything on the PowerPoints for the three tests (none were comprehensive; all were MC because of the writing assignments). The writing assignments are based on two books which will help you with the tests if you read them soon enough.

I took Professor Lewellen for 1301 and 1302 and really enjoyed his class. Class is all lecture and you should take notes, since that is the info you will use for the tests. Semester project is 10 article summaries and 1 book report, which is simple, able to work on it from the first day. Makes class interesting and is very much like open discussion

His lectures are amazing, make sure to participate or he will get mad. Make sure to write down every word he says in his lectures, the tests are easy once that you have all the information needed, make sure you only use the information given in his lectures!! Do a little bit of reading before class and you will be fine.

His lectures are really fun and interesting, take this course if you are really into American history. Don't take it over the summer though because there would be an overwhelming amount of information over a very short period of time. He's a tough grader and all of his exams/ finals aren't multiple choice, but his teachings are undeniably great!

Professor Lewellen is a great professor, if you're not ready to listen to his lectures and take a lot of notes I do not recommend taking him. All of his exams are based on how well you took notes over his lectures, he was willing to help you all the way until the day of exams, you could email him whenever. Although he is a little unclear about assignments instructions, overall he is a good teacher. He explains well if you take notes and listen to his audio lectures, but if you don't pay attention and wait till the end of the semester to complete the assignments, you will get in trouble. Plus, he is an easy grader.

His lectures are amazingly detailed and are designed to keep students engaged.He also values class participation and it gets incredibly awkward in class when no one knows the answer, he makes us sit in silence saying "you know this". His grades center on essays, and although he encourages you to email him drafts, his responses are subpar.

Honestly I really believe some of the reviews are over exagerating. This class is easy if you know how to study for it. His four to eight week class consists of three two page papers, three exams, and a few easy quizzes and what i mean by quizzes is written responses. Put the audios into unstuckstudy just for the transcripts and read over it.
