nice guy, needs to stay after class longer though, surprises himself a lot!
You will Have to teach yourself
very nice. .
classes fun, wastes LOTS time, doesn't explain clearly, and he's never around
I thought he was a great teacher!!
nice teacher, need to make more clarity in class, make mistakes in class, and he was more surprise than the student

He is a nice teacher! Mid-term are easy.
very nice teacher!class interesting!
A great math teacher!!! Easy midterms as long as u do all his homework. Not hard to get an A from him.
Just a good teacher!
Not a very good teacher. He does not explain the concepts really well. Expect a very low mark.
What is he teaching in class??? Help Me GoD....plz
I think he is a god prof.
he teach with intuition! so confusing!!
Gosh, I am very unsatisfied with his teaching ways. Though, he is friendly teacher, his teaching method is out of this world. He expect students had previously taken calculus. He says "Well,I don't have to go on, You guys probably already know this&q
A passionate teacher. But very intense mid term exams.
Nice teacher but he can teach at a quick pace so be sure to review regularly and often. He sometimes assumes you know your stuff already.
jumps around too much. Doesn't follow the book.
Terrible Teacher
Very confusnig at times, jumping around and not explaining topics thouroughly. He begins halfway through a topic at times and leaves you to figure it out on your own.
I don't know what he's teaching. He always assumes that you know everything. He does not teach the topic step by step. However, the mid-terms are not difficult.
Repeats himself endlessly. Goes back to the same graph 5 times but you still have no clue what the hell he's talking about. I like the way he's enthusiastic about teaching, but makes it very difficult to understand.
He is too jumpy.Hard midterms.Easy assignments. Every time when he comes into the class, man...heavy cigarette smell. Comes in class late to have a puff....

take this class with murray besler. bruce teaches his own random stuff that i did well in all semester, then i failed the final because i had never seen ANY of the material before. i had a B+ going in to the final and ended up with a C. killed my gpa.
he's a fair teacher and fair marker. he's a little bit jumpy but then if you review regularly and have a good understanding of the concepts you will do well in his class. I wish he taught 1274 in the summer sem
had terrible exams and didnt teach me anything
He is a very nice person! But teaching sux! He is very jumpy around topics
I learn nothing from him...everytime I went to class and fall asleep after 5 minutes...then wake up 5 minutes before the class ended...
Bruce is very entertaining and a really nice guy, but his teaching style is very scattered. He doesn't start at point A and work to point B; he starts in the middle and goes all over the place, so it's really hard to follow!
Hard assignments and tests.
Crazy, flamboyant, eccentric, nice guy but THE WORST TEACHER! Assignmens are worth marks for material he HAS NOT taught yet and his tests are usually questions you've never seen before.
omg you want a discouraging class to drop your self confidence this is the one for yoU!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK (N)!
very jumpy and bad teacher, never stays on topic. His exams are really hard, never similar to any of his assignments or other problems. DOes not follow the book and he basically does his on wacko-jumpo teachings.
Bruce is a good teacher. it might seem that he jumps from topic to topic but i can see the reasoning behind his teaching approach
Very hard tests. Crappy teacher that can not teach at all. Avoid this teacher at all costs
I don't get it. I studied so hard and I fail the tests. I think the teacher hates me. I want to cry.
Late for class each day except on exam days,he's punctual for that.Smoking might be the cause.Actually a nice guy; amusing and humorous to watch him teach.1 hr class = 30 min or less teaching somedays.Reminds me of crocodile hunter.Notes hard to follow, they're all over the place.Don't recommend him.
no to this teacher
he is so damn bad at teaching. He wastes my time and he spent all of our time doing chapter 5.1 to 5.5 for the whole month.
he sucks.. he spent all our time to teach only chapter5, but then he can;t finish the materials that we have, so he use only 3 hours on chapter7 and 3 hours on chapter6.. he is a knowledgable teacher but he can;t teach al all
he SUCKS, tells too much unnecessary and unrelated-topic stories, everytime he tells he's gonna explain sometin in 10 mins, it ends up he's spendin 30 mins. started up very slow in da beginning of semester but goes really fast n not finish the topics in the end of the semester
He's a nice guy, but I'll be damned if I ever have him as a teacher again. His notes are not concise, his tests and assignments tend to look nothing like problems in the textbook, thanks to his affection for application problems that don't really make it obvious as to what you're expected to do.
If you're the type who has to study their ass off to get a B or B- then you might want to avoid this guy. He doesnt look at the text for most of the course. He may think students have the natural math ability he has but most dont. Go with Belchev, teaches straight from the book, like math boot camp.
Actually,he's better than many other teachers.
He enjoys teaching math i guess.
bruce almighty blows chunks, worst prof ever, come on guys wheres the tangent?
bruce is nice, but less oraganised.it takes time to copy his notes down.hard midterms and final.Don't worry about your marks,if everyone does well in final, you will always get some scale up
He's an awesome math teacher, very helpful and quite friendly. Knows how to run a class... makes it insightful and interesting. He gives you a breakdown of the questions you will expect on the midterm by marks, and enough practice worksheets. A bit jumpy in his teaching method, but he's not hard to understand. You can check past midterms online:
Bruce is very unqualified. He is the WORST math teacher you can dream of. He is too old and cannot do any algebra. All he gave me is regret! He makes the exams very very long impossible to finish so the average is always under 40%.AVOID--
very rude, not knowing cal.I, he can not teach good enough.it's time for him to retire!!!!!
He is unfair. His exam was so long that absolutely no one finished the exam. He is too old and cannot do math anymore. He is rude to students and does not listen to anyone.I want to cry a bit.
he is a kind man,and helpful during the office hours, the only problem is that the midterm was so long, which does not seem to be fair.
He is so cute, and his class is Interesting!Take his class and enjoy calculus!
Bruce is so GOOD!!! He is so enthusiastic to teach & help!! He would even go pick up a pen for a student!! He is very clear at what he is teaching although it's hard to follow the book with his teaching, he doesn't teach according to the order in the book. But overall, I recommend him if you are not a math genius, he makes sure you get the stuff =)
Bruce Aubertin is definetly a very passionate teacher who places YOUR learning experience first. He provides a lot of examples to emphasize theory, he marks easy and he is very kind. However, he does play favourites (in my class, he liked me, Alexis and Tanya) and he does joke around quite a bit. He tends to ramble and he made my 2nd midterm LONG.
A nice prof. who treats his students as friends rather than just students. He will keep you awake in class, and does whatever he can to mitigate your low marks. You will do a little better than you think. It's good to go into his class with some calculus, but you will not die w/o it. Be sure to follow along in the text! Study HARD for exams. :)
nice teacher, funny, but very hard exams, especailly the final exam!!!
I took cal3 with Bruce. He is very straight forward and smart. He outlines what to focus on studing for the exams. He is also very clear. I recommend him for calculus.
I miss this prof now that I have a different one for Business Calc II :(. This semester, he doesn't have time to teach 1274. He certainly made math fun and enjoyable. He might appear tough, but he's really nice and makes math easy to understand. Plus, he doesn't give a lot of work either. Sit in his class and enjoy it! Go Bruce!
i got b+ in calc2, now im taking him for calc3, worst teacher ever seen.ask any student who've had calss with him before.calculus is easy for me and im not gonna have problem with this course but becuz his terrible i .
I took cal3 last semester with him.First I did not like him much...at the end, I think that he is very clear and knows calc very well.Compare him with Eugene who knows nothing about math and makes too many mistakes-so Bruce is Good.
Langara is so lucky to have this professor! You might not realize how good he really is until you have someone else, or maybe till the course is over, or you take more math classes. Those who rated him bad probably didn't study for the midterms. After all, calculus is not the easiest subject in the world. Give him a few weeks, then you'll see:)
Very entertaining teacher! He should be in the circus. He's like a cosine wave... sometimes, he's VERY exciting, other times, he is very into his work, less exciting -> but he has to teach the calculus on time. He really likes tangent lines. Smiles a lot, which is what the world needs more. :) Take him for a different experience in a math class.

I was freaking out at the beginning of the semester - It was awful! The first 2 weeks of class we literally did nothing! Suprisingly enough, he actually began to teach, and well! Everyday it was more and more enjoyable. A few things I REALLY don't like: 1. He is often late for class. 2. He is sometimes VERY unprepared. 3. He jumps around a lot.
What a terrible and awful teacher! He is super lazy and always makes things cloudy. He does not know what he is teaching but put those unknown stuffs onto our shoulders. A very strange man with comedian who always skips in front of the class!
Late for class at least 5 minutes everyday. 5 minutes* 5 Days/week=25 minutes/week(Minimum). Then multiply that by the # of weeks in a semester(13) and you get approximately 325 minutes which equals over 5 hours of class time lost throughout the whole semester, because he needs to have his freaking smoke & coffee at the student's expense.
Shows up late every class with lame excuses. Very unorganized, has to ask others where he left off. Seems to make up stuff to each on the spot and when he discovers something he'll exclaim very loudly and uselessly. He often does not finish his sentences leaving students confused. Does not follow the book. I wish I had dropped his class.

I love this guy. He's a total nut. Loves math, very bright. Lectures highly entertaining, and gives great assignments. Problems: all-over-the-shop unstructured teaching style can leave weaker students left behind, does not follow text, falls behind in curriculum and crams info into last three days, then tests like you were taught it properly.
This guy is probably the worst Math teacher one can have. He picks favorites, specially the female students. Does not explain things properly, and it almost seems like he has memorized stuff himself. Always late for classes and always behind in following the course outline. Runs out of time at the end and mickey mouses everything. AVOID HIM.
Yes, he's always late. However, this guy is smart and knows Math really well. He won't answer your question directly but gives you hints and related info that you'll never think about. Good instructor to those good at Math.
Worst Math teacher. Always late and picks favorites (mostly females) and makes everything confusing. Doesn't really explain things at all so students can never truly understand material. He basically encourages memorizing so you can get messed up in CALCII. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Having taken his class for only half a semester, I can say he's the worst math instructor ever. I have no idea what he is teaching, goes off tangent, explainations doesn't make sense, homework 50% unrelated, I mean, I've finished this course at UBC already, including green's and stoke, and yet I still have no idea what the hell he's teaching here.
I love his teaching!!! He is such a funny guy that you will never get bored in his class!!! Choose him, which is the best for you!!
he's really helpful. And sometimes he doesn't teach clearly but if you ask him about it more then he will explain it to you really slowly and patient! You should take his class! and do all of his assignment and ask him about it!And study the book if he ask you! it won't be a waste of your time
To be successful in Math, it depends pretty much on professor's style of teaching.
PSYCHO!! totally scattered, disorganized, constantly late. would start every class by asking someone what he did the day before. hard exams, crazy assignments and does not follow along in the text in the slightest.
He's a nice person, and he's helpful. However, for math 1174, i think his tests are really hard. It's 1174 but he's teaching too much trig stuff.. I dont know if that's matter of the school... but i think the textbook isnt that good too... it may be good for 1171, it is useless for 1174. Anyways, he's a funny guy, but yes he's late quite often.
His tests aren't that hard if u REALLY REALLY understand the concepts and do all the recommanded Qs on the text book.. there is no quiz but hw everyweek. u have to work hard to get a good mark in his class.
pretty nice. although the average for midterms were 51& and 52%, still if u work hard, u ll do fine.
Really hard to follow his method of teaching. It's like he just say whatever comes to his mind at the time, NO preparation at all.
his teaching can make good students do very well, but also weaker students will definitely drop his class. just understand the concepts should be an easy A.
Stay away from this guy..dont even touch the bubble for his course section registration.this prof is mainly for ppl who has math in their 2nd nature otherwise u will belong in the below 50% group which was about 90% of the class which all of the 90% of the ppl had to withdrawl from the course becuz of this prof's teaching. >.<
He is a funny guy. You'll never feel bored in his class. However, he's hard. The average for midterms usually around 50%. You have 55 minutes to do 8 questions and the questions are pretty hard. Weaker students will definitely drop his class, but if you work really hard, you still have chance to get a great mark.
He's not very good at pacing the course, jumps around between sections and introduces complex concepts before the more basic ones that they're built upon. I liked how he explained things, very conceptual, but maths should really be straightforward. Midterms were way too long and featured extremly complex applications of material we'd just learned.
All the bad things about him were already mentioned...(((( People get angry, confused and frustrated because of his teaching style. Not clear what to expect on the exams. Assumes everybody knows math at lest two courses ahead and he's there just to have fun through reminding whatever comes to his mind. BAD.
BAD..
very good
STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!!!he doesn't know how to teach and only 10 ppl was left at the midterm!!
took his class be4, got an A+. absolutely one of the favorite professor in langara. people who blame him are just stupid
Half the class dropped. The average first midterm mark was 23/50, the 2nd 27/50. Enough said.
he is very nice in person, however, when it comes to teaching.. i don't think so. his midterms were actually easy as long as you really study from his notes and assignments. i don't think he really explains the material clearly in class, but you are welcomed to come and see him during office hours. i recommend you guys to study hard if you wanna ta
Really wastes alot of time trying advandced math problems. Tries to pack too much information in weeks before exams.
I am usually normal person with B in math but this teacher has the most unorganized teaching. He comes into class and jus thinks of simple easy 5th grade problems and then expects you to solve unusually hard problems on the midterms...doesn't follow the book--screwed for final..good luck if you are a B student in math..expect c-
not prepared to any class... his notes are useless and you will get screwed on the final
He's nice and humor, but sometimes he doesn't explain clearly, his midterm was really look like the homework we did before, but some questions are much more difficult than u think.U'd better catch ur time during the exam!!!
A kind person, but a bad teacher. Always late, very little in the way of notes or guidance. Constantly saying that you should know it or study it on your own without providing any direction. Would only recommend to A - A+ students.
Some students may find it hard to follow his teaching sequence because he doesn't follow the sequence of the book. But his explanation is crystal clear. I really understand his lecture. But if you get rid of the book and just follow his notes and handout, you will do well. It is easy to get at least "B-" in his class. Assignments are helpful too.
sigh~ i wish i could have taken him for 1274. ken collins is pretty bad
A super nice person with bad teaching style. Super unorganized and look at his watch every 5 mins! Sometimes he only has solved 1 problem for the entire class! But easy to get A if u work hard.
I really don't know why ppl left so many bad comments to this prof. It is very unfair to him. Some of my friends who have taken his class before and they all said he is good. Maybe he just got bad luck. The students who like him didn't have time to leave comments. Trust me. He is a good teacher. He is an "A-" to "A" teacher.
At first, you may find him unorganized...and always late...but he explains the concepts clearly, and he really knows math well! you will find you are always inspired by his teachings...he is also a fair marker. nice guy!
kkkkk
He is a fear marker to some students and fair marker to some students. when he likes someone he gives him/her marks in fair way. He always tries to find mistake author of the book. He is the worst teacher I have ever had in math!!!
!! he cares about his students
Awesose
He is a very confusing teacher. One of the things that bothered me was he was always a few minutes late for class and reeked of smoke. Nice guy but not a good teacher!
His course is very reasonable. Math is about self studying if you can't do that do not complain about the teacher. I rarely go to his class but always do the homework and finally got A+.
i like his class cuz he is a very helpful teacher...he explains all the things very clearly in the class that u dont need the textbook...also if u finish and study all the hw, u would get a really high mark...but u dont hv that much time to write the midterms, watch ur time...
Nice guy but hard teacher. I find his notes unclear because he never states the question he is answering. He doesn't really use the textbook so it makes it hard to know what to study.
he does Not know how to teach , jumping around too much in teaching
he is not prepared for the class , making wierd noises all the time during the class, his tests are related to wat he teaches in class. boring class that you fall in sleep always ,.....
The content is easy to follow and very useful during the exam.
He is a good teacher
He is a good teacher. His midterm is easy, but the time of the exam is very tight.
he is a nice men but not really good at teaching. exams are easy as long as u did the hw and read through his notes.
he is a passionate while a bit lazy teacher. tests and exams are easy as long as you do all the assignments
terrible, terrible teacher.. easy enough midterms but it just ends up screwing you over for the final exam which he doesn't write. was late for every single class, twice answered his cell in class and had a conversation right in front of us,incomprehensible lectures. Ppl saying "it's math, just self study" don't understand the point of this site
My favourite math class ever! It was quite informal, but really interesting and easy to pay attention to. Yes, he answers his cell phone in class. And, yes, I think everyone runs out of time for those midterms. But classes are enough fun that I'm paying attention, and that's what matters.
He tries to get the students excited and involved with his random influxes in voice volume. I never used the textbook. All I needed were his notes and assignments.
Very nice teacher I've met in Langara. If you take note well and study hard with them, you will be able to get good mark for sure, study hard!!
worst teacher I ever had in Langara. I got a tutor who teaches UBC students, and she said even UBC don't have those hard materials and tutor got confused with assignments.. I really regret taking this course. If u wanna fail, take this course, I am telling you.
This teacher is terrible. He never stops to asks if any students have questions and he walks into the class without even telling you what he'll be talking about. His explanations on calculus are poor and doesnt rely on the textbook at all. If you want to fail math 1174 take it with him. I highly do not recommend this teacher.
This guy is a horrible prof. He's constantly talking and goes off topic A LOT. I'm taking his class right now and he spent an entire 50 minute lecture talking about Calc II to us. The chapters he teaches are all over the place and don't match his assignments. If you can, try to avoid having him as a prof.
I took this course with him last term and failed, I'm taking it again this term with a different teacher and doing astoundingly better. If you have an aptitude for math you'l probably be fine, if you don't you'll be completely lost. His teaching style is unstructured and difficult to follow. Take this class with Nora.
I don't think he is as bad as everyone says. His assignments may seem hard at first but he goes through similar questions during his lecture. He doesn't speak very loud but his notes are clear. His tests are a bit on the hard side but they will definitely prepare you for the killer final.
He is a great prof, don't mind the bad comments. He expects students to have a deep understanding of Calculus which helps a lot in higher Calculus courses. He is not just like going through text book to pass the course. He teaches every aspect of the course. He is great.
My biggest complaint about him was that he kept the course completely in his head. I wouldn't have minded learning on my own from the textbook, but he doesn't even give you a chance for that because he has no syllabus and is extremely unclear about what he expects you to learn. Worst professor I've ever had (and I already have a full degree).
Great prof!
His midterms are quite hard and he is not willing to give extra marks after you talk to him about midterm. Final exam might be hard. Assignments are so-so but do it takes long time.
This guy is pretty bad. Rambles a ton, doesnt follow a coherent schedule. Try and avoid.
Does not follow any clear agenda, very confusing, poor notes and barely any preparation for exams. Also blamed his marker for taking weeks to get assignments back and any questions regarding our marks were answered with "marker did it, I don't know".Turns out there was no marker, he's just too lazy to mark anything on time or to address any questions
Good prof. Assignments are full of questions he did as examples in the notes (pretty easy) and if you have trouble he will help you. Practice midterms were easier than real midterm. Doesn't use textbook very much but has suggested questions from textbook to do. Fast marker (has someone else mark assignments they aren't as fast). REALLY FUNNY.
the worst teacher ever
Very smart as a person but bad as an instructor. Always wants to "play" with problems. Always saves things for "tomorrow". His notes skim the surface and don't go into detail. Exams are fair. He's loud and funny but you don't learn much from his lectures
a tough course made far more difficult by a tough teacher. in the first 2 weeks he jumped all over the place in the text(ch1/ch7/ch20/ch1 again, etc). He deliberately doesn't follow the order of the curriculum because he doesn't believe in it. ask around, his reputation precedes him for sure; avoid if you can.
bad teacher, no patience and he even doesn't know what he was taling about
Bruce is a good prof!I don't understand why the comments here are so bad.He is patient and willing to help,he will give past exam before we have exam, that is really helpful! He is also a nice and humorous person?he often tells jokes on class to active classroom atmosphere.I think he is really good. Not as the comments said?
Well..Bruce is helpful and funny as I quite like his jokes but he always jumps through the notes and textbook. He can begin with section 5.1 but end up with section 7.2 like that. He is not organized but you should be fine if you have a solid foundation on math and revise a lot. He provides us past exams which are quite helpful :)
He is a nice enough guy and has a good sense of humour, but he jumps around all over the place. Calculus is difficult enough as it is for me without someone making it worse by unclear lectures. I need to take it again now, I am also to blame but this professor didn't help make it easier.
Bruce is an overall nice guy. The problem comes when he tries to teach. For those who haven't taken any sort of calculus before, prepare to spend hours on youtube. He jumps around, doesn't follow the order of the textbook, and tends to struggle making a point. He does provide old midterms and exams, so if you can study on your own, you'll do okay.
Bruce is pretty clear about what is going to be on the tests, which is quite helpful. He does jump between topics a fair bit but just stick with the program and you'll be fine. He assumes you know pre-calculus very well, so there is no formal review but he does recommend problems from the textbook. One of the better teachers I had at Langara.
You need to work hard if you want to do well in Calculus, regardless of the prof. Although Bruce can be a little disorganized at times, his assignments are great for preparing for midtermsfinal. If you took Calc 12 in high school and did well, you will be fine!
He was such a funny prof, I don't know how anybody can give him such a low rating! I think he is a great instructor and fair marker. The class average was 60-65 for both midterms. Final was slightly harder. The trick to acing differential equations is to do all of the practice problems, it's that simple. Thanks for a great course Dr. Aubertin!
He is always willing to help you. Great lecture. And he will give you sample tests before midterm and final, which are super helpful!
If you have already taken calculus in high school, you might find his lecture a tad boring. He spent many classes talking about graphs, and he then completely breeze over limits, and derivatives. His approach to related rates is very interesting though. According to my peers, his midterm was hard, but IMO, it was fair
Currently taking calculus with him, I've done well in high school pre-calculus with an A, and also took a preview of course of Calculus online. Bruce is very confusing, and expects you to immediately understand something after it's been taught. I thought to myself before taking a course with him, how bad can he be? Don't do it if you have a choice.
Took his class last term and 80% of the people are either sleeping or on their phones. If you took Calculus before, you'll be fine(to some extend). If you haven't, expects to learn everything yourself. Boring jokes, smokes between classes, confusing lectures, but provide old exams for practice(the only thing that's helpful). skipping is fine
What a great course! I recommend this prof because his exams are based on the assignments and past exams. His lectures were interesting since he only does examples to explain a concept. Overall, Bruce is hilarious and helpful by providing past exams which they were a lifesaver. However, the textbook was useless. The notes and past exams were enough
He is really passionate about maths and funny too. He explains the concept to the depth. His assignments helps a lot in preparing for exams. I recommend everyone to take his classes but if you dont have any basic knowledge about calculus then you should take another professors because it will be difficult to do assignments if you havent did calc.
Gives easy practice exams which don't compare to actual exams. Lectures difficult to understand. Says he wants everyone to get an A but when average is 55%, he doesn't blink. I got an A in pre-calculus but that didn't help. Save yourself from excruciating lectures and avoid.
He is an experienced, passionate instructor, while his outline for this course is a bit unclear. Some sections are covered over and over, and the sequence is confusing. Assignments are useful to pass the exams, while the midterms are more tricky than those assignments. If you follow his lectures and understand the rules, you'll be fine.
Bruce is the best math instructor at Langara, if you are a student keen on learning math. His assignments are definately challenging, but if you can do them you will be well-serve com exam time. Overall great class!!
An interesting guy. He gave our section 5 assignments over the first half of the course, which were quite long. Myself and some other classmates who are around B level students, took an average of 4 hours per assignment. The assignments do however prepare you for midterms to a decent degree, just be ready for lots of late nights.
He's funny but as a result would go off on a tangent of a memory he had for 5-10mins then get back to the course material. He expects you to know right away the concepts he teaches. The material he covers seems scrambled as well You don't know what parts of the book he is teaching from. He is always 10mins late cause he needs his coffee every class
Bruce is very nice. His lecture is sometimes confusing and not well-organized. But his assignments and tests are fair and helpful. To do well in his class you need self-studying ability or work very hard. First time learner would find it hard to follow. Recommend taking Bruce for retaking a class.
Bruce is an incredible man. A lot of you sleep on him because of his unconventional and "disorganized" teaching style, but he takes time to solidify the main concepts of Calculus. I can't wait to have more classes with him. If you want to know how Calculus is useful in the real world, take him!!
Bruce is eccentric, but fun. It is easy to concentrate in his class as he keeps it interesting. You do need to know your math from the previous course (even if that's math 12) in order to truly do well, but that's expected. His few pieces of homework are generally harder than the exam which helps. Would love to have him teach all my math courses.
Bruce is a nice guy, but his lectures aren't organized and he talks about himself most of the time. His homework and exams are extremely difficult, so I would recommend having your basics solidified before taking this course.
AVOID ALL COST
Great guy, bad teacher. Disorganized classes, never concludes a though properly, just keeps opening remarks on top of remarks. It is hard to know which subject or chapter he is talking about at any given time because he goes back and forth constantly. Homework and tests A LOT harder than what we see in class. Expect to learn everything by yourself.
Professors neglected to teach us chapter 8, series, properly. Instead he gave us a series package and we have to go online to see the fill-in the blanks answers. The way he teaches does not keep up in pace with what we have to complete in the course syllabus. From the last day of classes to the final, we have to teach ourselves sections 8.1-8.7
His assignment questions and practice exams were much easier than his actual exams. He is so disorganized and taught the subjects in the most random order. He'll have questions worth 10 marks and not award part marks. Avoid at all costs. I took cal AP and got a B but still found his class extremely difficult. WORST PROF!!!!!
Bruce is a good teacher - he shows techniques in class that are key for doing well on the exams. If you have some issues, he is there to help! At the end of the day, the student needs to do practice outside of class and that should be obvious for any math class. Overall, I really enjoyed Calculus 2 with Mr. Aubertin. Thank you
Horrendous teacher do not take him. The most random order of teaching with 0 explanation of anything. If you know your stuff, youll be fine, however if you dont your screwed. The test are so dumb with questions worth 10 marks that you have never seen in your entire life. Practice questions are much EASIER version of whats on the test. Avoid him!
Starts the course all over the place and you really need to absorb the concepts from the beginning in order to have a chance at passing. Does not go in order of textbook. The assignments and exams follow similar templates. Has a particular way of explaining during his lectures but gets the point across. Work really hard for a good grade.
Confusing and all over the place, also REALLY bad at explaining. A lot of the concepts at the beginning, he overcomplicated them- calculus is already a difficult subject, he just made it worse. Your whole grade is practically determined by how you do on the final and midterm, nothing else. Half of my class ended up dropping.
Do not take this course with Bruce. His lectures were all over the place and did not follow any sort of logical order. However, he is nice and because the class average was so low, my final grade was curved up by about 10%
Pros - allows for homework extension if you ask - Not too strict - Provides past midterms/finals Cons - Does not follow the course outline HE made - Bizarre order of choice for chapters to teach - Lectures are unfruitful besides scouting out what will be next Assessment HW 20% (one every week) Midterms 20% each Final 40%
bruce will @#$% you over for the final exam. he is so unorganized, and does not give enough information, leading you to failure. we literally DEPEND on this man to teach a course, and he can't even do his job. why are WE penalized for doing badly in his course if he doesn't properly teach us? please avoid this class at all costs. unorganized prof.
Bruce is a nice professor. His exam is not hard at all. Easy A
Don't take him if you want to trasnfer to other university. his final exam will destory your grade.
Bruce is not the high school hand to hand teacher you are looking for. He is willing to help. He gave us past exams and tests for preparation. Practice and understand the material in class and you will be fine
Prepare to work hard in this class. The professor has a unique teaching style, but engaging with it can pay off. Use resources like Unstuck AI alongside the textbook to succeed.
