Amazing professor. I learned what it means to be a Christian. he is the ONLY Bible teacher I would recommend taking at APU. The class is not easy but it's worth every minute!

The most outstanding college professor I have ever taken. You will learn immense amounts.

I learned so much from Baloian (also took Ex/Deut with him). Even though the papers are hard, they are well worth it!

I've taken Bruce twice now, and I love his classes, despite the fact that he is very hard, he is a wonderful teacher and a great guy!

I love Dr. B's classes. They are by far the hardest i've taken at APU but he motivates you to do your best. You learn a ton from his life and his class. He is a true man of God who wants to see his students fall more in love with God and grow in faith

Tough class, Great professor. Baloian is awesome. I learned a lot even though I was not motivated. He motivated me to do well in his class and therefore I did. It's tough, but you come out of his class learning so much.

Amazing man of God and equally amazing professor. The first class I took from him changed me so much I changed my major and path in life. The second class I took from him broke me spiritually (in a good way). The third class deepened my love for Jesus.

I have had Baloian for life and teaching and ex/deut. AMAZING teacher and man of God. Very insightful and thoughtful. though the papers are really really tough, you learn A LOT, and he teaches really well!!!!!

He's difficult in that he expects a lot and he requires a lot of work. I've had him twice, as a freshman and a junior - he was great in both classes. If you keep up w/ the work and keep buggin him with your papers you'll do great. I got an A on papers!

not as hard as everyone thinks. the tests aren't bad if you study; gives you study guides & there's a study session. papers are challenging, but you learn a lot. it's possible to get an A as long as you do the work. EXCELLENT PROF- HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.

Was the best teacher I had when I went to the school. An excellent communicator. Loves the Lord and his students. His theology has a liberal bent when it comes to womens role in the church.

Great professor! Huge respect for teaching style and care for students. Class was difficult but people who put in the time and work made it worthwhile. Learned more about life application than numbers, dates and people. This will be a class that sticks out in my mind forever.

ok so he's not lying when he tells you he's the hardest exo/deut prof. there's two HARD papers and 3 tests and simple simple quizzes on the bib. its so worth it tho. this was my favorite class and come from public school. he changed the way i read the bible and kept me interested.and hes funny.

Best teacher I've ever had...ever, seriously, I learned so much in Ex/Deut it was amazing. The Papers are really hard and the tests kinda hard as well but it is totally worth it because you learn so much. He really knows how to connect with Students and he is very humble and kind.

I learned a ton in his class. The crazy part is that i am your typical c student that never does too good, but he made it so interesting. I was definately challenged with his grading but it was well worth the work. I recommend him. dont go to APU and not take him or you will miss out.

Take this class, you will learn so much about the Bible and how to read it. His class is really interesting and he relates a lot of his stories to the information. The papers are hard, but you just have to work at them and the tests are easy if you study good.

Good teacher. There are a couple of 5 questions quizs ofthen but from a reading assign the night before.If you read the text you'll do fine. There are two papers... which aren't extremely hard but I recommend for you to let him a look at it first. Take this class and you will learn a lot.

It was an amazing class. Not only is he interesting, but he has many valuable, important insights into the Old Testament. Prepare for a change in perspective, diffucult (but worth it!) papers, and fairly easy tests and quizzes. I learned about God in class. -Reviewed by a freshman honors student.

Baloian is one of the smartest men alive. You have to bust your balls to get an A, but i learned more in his classes than any other. Hands down my favorite teacher ever.

One of the greatest men-- not just for his teaching, although wonderful-- but for his wisdom, example, perserverance, and ability to look at you, a struggling undergrad, and help untap the hidden strength in your mind, heart, and soul. Don't stray away from the difficulity, take at least one class with him and be preapred for years of change-- it's been at lesat 7 since my first class with him, and I'm still reeling from it's affects.

Best prof I had at APU. Nothing even in my grad program can compare to Baloian. I use the life and teaching info all the time in my youth group.

Most overrates prof at APU. He is great, if you are in church. But this is supposed to be an academic institution. And is is ridiculously conservative and has a very unfortunately view on women. Take this class if you want a somewhat challenging class where you won't learn much. Take Dr. Yarchin for a realy Bible class.

What a man!!! He will challenge the way you read the Bible big time. He lives the text. he will make you want to learn all the more. He is bold with his statements, not caring what people think. It makes him such a great teacher, orator and pastor. His firsthand stories about ministry are so sweet. Take him for Life and Teachings if you take him for anything. Don't leave APU without having taken Baloian

THIS MAN IS AMAZING!! I cant put into words the respect I have for Baloian. Before this class I dreaded reading the Bible, but now that I have experienced Baloian I read the OT for FUN! Who does that?? Anyone who has had Dr. Baloian, thats who. Hard as heck but you wont regret it!

GREAT class. People told me how hard his class was, but I found it fairly easy. If you study, the tests are EASY. If you put in the effort and ask him questions, the papers are manageable. Don't be intimidated to take this class, you will be so glad you did. Prof. Baloian is a wise, educated man who loves his students and loves to teach about God.

TAKE HIM! Yeah, he's hard, but it was a gr8 class 2 take my 1st yr in college. He's a great prof & actually made me really enjoy the old testament. His papers and exams are REALLY hard, but he's always willing to help. On his papers, turn them in 4 help as many times as u can. I'm proud to say I took him. I feel accomplished and I learned a lot

Probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. His papers are hard and they make you think, but his tests are REALLLY easy. Just follow the study guides and you'll do fine. He's funny, insightful, and always willing to help you if you need any.

He is simply amazing. This class is tough but every minute in the class is worth the time. He is so smart and really helps you understand. His love for the Lord is apparent and powerful. I loved attending this class every day and I learned so much. I recommend him to all, but be ready to work. =)

Great man. The class is worth whatever you put into it. You will do your paper over and over and have him read proof read it, but tests are a breeze. He has a lot of insite and you should take his class. (he can read you really well too)

Baloian is on the of the best teachers I have ever had and his class is my favorite thus far. The Bible is real and vivid to him and he conveys truths in a new light. Caring, brilliant, and humble. NOT NEARLY AS HARD AS PEOPLE MAKE HIM OUT TO BE. East tests, difficult papers. Turn in papers as many times as possible before due date for revision.

Best professor you will ever have at APU. If you can take him, life and teachings changed my whole out look on life. Hands down the most caring and helpful professor. The papers are intense and vey difficult, but well worth all the work.

This man is a Christian Steve Martin. He's hilarious, brilliant, and clear with everything he has to say while making the Bible entirely applicable and practical, proving that the Bible is personal and a guide to life with every lecture. I wanted to wake up every morning just for this class.

Dr. Baloian is SUCH an amazing man! Each of his lectures are so intriguing and interesting. I learn something new every class. Two papers. First is pretty easy,second is SUPER hard-just make sure you follow directions EXACTLY. Turn outline in a bunch and you'll be ok. Quizzes= kinda tricky. Tests=fine if you study!He is very willing to help.

Dr. B is amazing. He is definitely hard but it is well worth the effort. Don't shy away from taking him just because he is hard. He challenged me not only academically but also spiritually. He is also one of the funniest teachers ever. He has a genuine interest in all of his students and is more then willing to help, just ask. Definitely take him!!

Exo/Deut. is difficult. He's a difficult teacher, but if you're okay that, then it's well worth it. His essays have a reputation. His tests aren't easy, but he has a lot of theological truths that he helps you understand. It's a class that you will learn in, but you have to work at it.

He is everything he is cracked up to be! Every class is like the most challenging life-changing most well-done sermon in the history of the planet. Yes, the class was the hardest of my life but I gave 1000% and it was worth every minute and I never stopped loving it. I want to take ALL of his classes!

You do have to work in this class but by no means is it impossible if you are willing to put the time in and he is very willing to help you! quizs are easy points, do the readings twice, the exams aren't bad if you go to the study sessions and for the papers just turn in your outline a lot! Dr. Baloian is an amazing teacher. He really made the OT come alive and made it apply to our daily lives. It's not an easy class, but definitely worth it.

Hands down the BEST teacher I have EVER had!! He is VERRRY knowledgable and makes lecture applicable to our lives. He's a little tough but take notes and turn in paper multiple times and you will get an A. I plan on taking him for many more classs!! Dont listen to what people say, he is very humble and will be the first to admit fault to a mistake!

Baloian has to be hands down one of the best teachers at Azusa. It is one of those classes you need to try hard in order to succeed but on the way you learn so much in his class. He is worth taking!!

Dr. Baloian really brought a whole new appreciation of the structure of the bible, and what it has to say about God. I loved the material we covered in class. On the other hand, his papers are NIGHTMARISH! he does give you as many opportunities as you need to turn them in. Trust me-when he says turn them in more than once, believe him.

Dr.B is a great prof.a very pastoral approach to teaching.very challenging and thought provoking.he can be a bit scattered and random but he is very deep and insightful.you have to work a lot,but not too much.he's a tough grader but he will push you and strech you to learn how to read the Bible better and how to understand what it is trying to say

Tough but very willing to help. If you have a question he will more likely answer with a question or something you still don't understand, but just keep asking until he says something you understand and it will be fine. Seems kind of intimidating, you challenge him, he'll challenge you, and usually wins. He is an overall good teacher/experience

Dr. Baloian is an excellent professor. He is clearly passionate about the Bible. His approach is practical in the sense that he grounds himself in reality, not in academic abstractions. As far as his strengths, Dr. Baloian has a way of asking all of the right questions, and he cares deeply for his students.

Very interesting, very clear, and very demanding. Shares many life stories. Follow his instructions thoroughly and turn in your paper drafts many times. Class changes from mostly history to mostly Bible from start to finish, but everything laid out clearly in syllabus. Best teacher APU has, and I'm taking him again for Life & Teachings.

I LOVE Dr B! He's seriously one of the best teachers ever. The exams can be difficult, but they're fine if you study enough. The papers are pretty hard, but he allows you to turn in multiple rough drafts for him to look over, so he's super helpful! And the lectures are never boring. Love him! If you have a chance, def take him!

Dr. B is by far on of the best professors I have ever had. His is the only class i have ever genuinely looked forward to going to. He requires a lot of comprehensiveness, and attention, but you will learn so much and you will not regret taking his class.

Dr. Baloian is a really nice guy who puts forth effort to get to know his students. Class times are fun because he involves the class and his lecture consists mostly of stories. I learned alot about the Bible even though I was very familiar with it already. He lets you know how to get an A for those who strive for A's. Real godly character.

This is a class for people who want to learn and want to work hard, without doing any busy work. Baloian will push you, but he loves his students and is interesting in class (tells stories, ask stories of students). He celebrates differences in races/heritages, so he mentions them. If you follow his directions exactly you will be fine.

Dr. Baloian is an amazing professor. I will warn you that this class will PUSH u to work hard. Every class was amazing and his lectures went by fast. 3 tests, 2 big papers, and a bunch of little quizzes. I recommend to go to the study sessions he puts on before tests. For the papers, make sure you get them looked over and talk about them. TAKE HIM!

Brucey B! He was great! Take him to actually learn the material. Sometimes couldn't read what he wrote on the outline you revise multiple times, but he is amazing!

Dr. Baloian is the most amazing teachers I've ever had! I seriously don't want class to end. He has amazing insight on the Bible and just on life in general. He teaches you how to read the Bible carefully, and to use the context. After taking his class, I learned to think for myself when I read the Bible. Life lessons are learned in this class.

I loved the class. His quizzes are easy if you read the assignemnt. The papers were the only challenging part. But he is expremely helpful on the paper and gives credit for the hard work you put on it.

Dr. Baloian is so knowledgable & enthusiastic about the material. He made me fall in love with the Old Testament, and really gives a clear understanding about stories in the Bible & how relevant they are to our understanding of God & life as a Christian. He makes the class really fun, tells stories, and clearly has so much wisdom & experience.

Great Theology Professor! His class is pretty difficult however, if you attend class regularly, ask questions, & put in an actual effort you could pass with at least a B(if you're looking for an easy A walk away).There isn't much homework except the dreaded exegetical(in parts) & mostly reading for quizzes that are easy if you read. Great Class.

Dr. Baloian is an excellent professor. He teaches his classes largely by telling stories. He's funny, smart, and makes class interesting, even if it's a subject you don't care about. Would take him again in a heartbeat. You learn a lot about the bible and about life. Must take.

I would never take his class again. The work wasn't the problem. His additude was. In my opinion he was a rude know-it-all. He was NOT helpful for the exegetical. Some of the things he said were outstandingly offensive. And thanks to his bandwagon students, minorities at Apu are further disrespected. No one can tell him because he's so preferred.

Dr. B is an amazing professor. He was always willing to help you with any assignment and even allowed you to turn in your rough drafts for feedback an unlimited number of times before the final draft was due. His lectures can be a bit long but he makes them entertaining by sharing personal stories. I highly recommend him as a professor.

GREAT! soo many opportunities for extra credit that you should take advantage of! loved the lectures and i was hardly watching the clock. he's very knowledgable and more than willing to help. 12 quizzes that are 5 -6 questions each and are super easy if you read the bible assignments.

Freshman year, I heard that he was difficult so I spent my first 3 years at APU avoiding his classes. Now, my last year, I will have taken 2 of his classes.

Dr. Baloian was challenging, caring, and incredibly insightful. I wanted to work hard in this class because I knew I would be blessed. I continue to be impacted by the work I did in this class.

Don't bother taking this course if you want an easy course. Very challenging BUT Doctor B is one of the most respected profs I have ever had. Quizzes on biblical readings and homework, 3 exams, a book report and an exegetical.. Many opportunities to get help though.. Amazing professor, but can't come in thinking you can skid by doing the minimum..

I had Dr. Baloian for Exodus/Deuteronomy and he was my favorite professor that semester. Gives reading almost every day, but it's usually only a couple of chapters. Schedules quizzes but they are easy as long as you read the chapters. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to pass then go. The tests are easy as long as you pay attention.

Be prepared to take lots of notes in class. He teaches by telling stories. Make sure to submit drafts for feedback on the exegetical before turning in the final draft. Overall, he's a solid choice and he knows what he's talking about.

He is now retired but he was such an amazing professor I just had to rate him. His class is difficult but as long as you read the assigned chapters you will be fine. He always had really humorous and intriguing stories. The tests are very hard but if you study exactly what he tells you to study you will be fine.
