He doesnt help out.. All he does is make fun and talk crap about his ocean discoverys.

What a pity this instructor has received such poor evaluations. I liked him! He taught me to refine my writing skills. If it weren't for his instruction, I would still be a crappy writer. Do exactly what he tells you and listen! Questions are mostly rhetorical anyway.

He is a really nice teacher.Also you can turn papers in late, and he is very helpful

First he lets you turn in your papers late (not a lot of professors do that) he does read example essays to you but it helped me. His grammar tests are easy. On your essays you can always revise them and it takes the place of your other grade. you have to turn in all your essays to pass.

Great teacher. Not only he lets you come in class late, but he also lets you turn in assyngments late. He is very CLEAR. If you are interested in learning, you should consider taking this teacher. I touhgt i was going to have a C in his class, but I ended up having an A.

I took him and he was easy.... the quizes are easy and he lets you turn in your essays late! and then you can redo them for a better grade! the final is just a regular Quiz. VERY EASY! EASY A. he doesn't care if you are late and absents but just don't late the absents get to much.

He is so nice and easy....His like one of the coolest teacher at the school. He let you turn in late work, come to class late and leave whenever you want and you will still pass his class. just make sure you do all your work..he doesn't grade your paper bad. His grading scale isn't bad at all. I would take him again...

I hated the idea of taking this class; however, Mr. Beck helped me make it through. He grades papers very fairly and explains grammar on a basic level. I hope he teaches ENC 1102.

Mr. Beck is awesome! His summer night class was the best! :) His grammar quizes are out of the book and you can revise your essays for a better grade. He likes to keep you right up to the last minute but the class is still pretty sweet (because I passed!)

People rating this professor are really on some good crack. I didnt write a paper all semester and he let me turn in the 4 papers at the end of the semester with full credit. E-A-S-Y

This professor expects papers late and you can revise to no limit. I actually learned something, but if you are unorganized don’t take him because he is unorganized. On the other hand if you know you’re a procrastinator and you need that to past a class take him. He will not let you fail.

Mr. Beck is a very good teacher, the best u will find for english. he cares about his students. i took him for enc1101 & 1102, he grades very fair. Those who have bad things to say about him are just looking for someone to blame for their own failure. i truly recommend him. allows revisions and lots of oppurtunities for x-tra credit.

he is the best. he did his best to help u understand and he would even come in early for u or stay alil late juss to explain stuff to u if u needed more info. he is funny at times and very fair..he is a great teacher

He was kind of unorganized up all in all he was a good professor. He was always willing to go out of his way and help someone he even did it on his own time. Do all the assingments and make the effort and you will pass his class.

I took him for the summer class of ENC1101. As long as you showed up and wrote the assigned 4 essays (or whatever it was) you will do fine. He spends a lot of time on grammar, which sucks. But he is a nice guy, he tells a lot of stories about himself but it's cute. Just do the work, which is easy, and you'll do fine.

He is a fair grader but gives out a lot of work. I spent more time doing work for this class than my other 4 classes combined.

I struggled because I'm an adult student who hadn't taken basic English writing class. Assigments include writing a resume, doing a brochure, doing a proposal report. The most practical class I've taken so far. I used the brochure in my business, used the resume & got a well pd job. He lets you revise your work to improve grade. Attend class get A.

Well he practically gives students 40% of the grade for just doing the work. I took him for summer and he gave a lot of homework but he doesn't grade for correction. He let you revise essays which I recommended and give you extra credit for attending writing seminars. Put in some work and you will get an A.

He has something things you can get your grade from.. You have essay grades, journal grade,online excercise grade, tests too. He is very good with taking late work as long at its not older than 2 weeks. You cant miss more than 3 days of his class though! Tests are easy if you read the book. GREAT PROFESSOR, I RECOMMEND ANYONE WHO HAVE TROBLE WITH WRITTING ESSAYS TO TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

He is a piece of work! funny as hell and nice to students, he however should teach current affairs/events he loves talking about that.

Prof. Beck is the sh*t! He is incredibly helpful and has no problem taking the time to answer questions. He is very flexible and will work with you on just about anything. He is funny and has a great sense of humor, he likes to joke around and try to make you comfortable and willing/wanting to learn vs. just coming in and lecturing.

OMG! Prof. Beck is great. He makes everything easier for his students. I took ENC1101 & ENC1102 with him. No regret at all. However, if u don't do the work, u gonna end up with a D. Take him; he is peace of mind. He will check your paper and give you helpful feedback.

Mr. Beck is extremely nice and is very fair. He allows you to turn work in all the time and has a lot of extra credit. He is very understanding and he is an amazing teacher. He shares many interesting stories and I don't think we ever had a full length class. TAKE HIM!!!

Great teacher! Gives you more than enough time to turn in homework. Lectures are long but the quizzes are easy. Love his sea diving stories. Lol. Awesome personality.

Professor Beck has been the best professor I have gotten in my entire school life. He is very carring; he goes out of his way to help anyone; He always gives extra credit; so, if you didn't get a good grade in his class, it is simply because you are a lazy and careless student.

It is obvious that Pro. Beck enjoys teaching. He gives alot of assignments, but it is for the student's benefit. I did learn more than I knew before.

Decent class. The good thing about this guy, he teaches you how to write for English comp 2. The bad thing about this guy, he teaches you how to write for English comp 2. Overall, a nice guy that could teach you about GRAMMAR. This guy will tear up your paper at first for grammar since he really analyzes these papers. That's his best quality.

Amazing professor i've had in college. He's extremely helpful and makes sure you pass this class with a great grade. Take him and you'll learn a lot!!!BEST PROFESSOR

Great proffessor really learned alot he's a tough grader when it comes to grammer and the flow of a paper but very nice guy and is always willing to help you. I took the express class and had a lot of work which was a little stressful at times but he works around it overall i was very satisfied with my grade.

GREAT PROFESSOR!!! I took him for a 12week class and it was easy. Gives u time to finish homework. Offers extra credit and lets u revise your papers for a better grade. I hate english but I got a high B in his class. I wish I would of taken advantage of the extra credit so I would of ended with an A instead.

Prof Beck is a good Professor. He tends to ramble a lot & makes you write a lot. 3 Essays that are 60% of your grade, 10 journals 10% of your grade, 10 short essays on 75 readings plus also 10% of your grade,and 5% Bedford hand book.

For me, prof. Beck was easy. All you need to do is show up, have respect, do your work, and you will be fine. I think he was quirky and his classes were never dull. 3 essays, 3 grammar tests, which he rewards with extra points if you do well on a pre-grammar contest.

I passed his class with a ''B.'' If youre looking for an easy A then dont take him. He will force you to improve your writing if you put in the work. A bit monotone and some slight bit of humor. ALWAYS get your essay looked over by a tutor. There is a 95% chance you will NOT receive an A on an essay. Would i take again? Yes bc he made me improve.

Professor Beck is a pretty nice guy. He talks a lot and sometimes he gets totally off subject. I must admit he is a tough grader, but he allows revisions on most assignments. He pays attention to his students progress and is always willing to help. Don't expect an easy A though.

He grades the essays, very harshly. I went from getting all A's on my essays in ENC1101, to struggling to get a B on essays in this ENC1102 class. Talksssss so much, very monotone and just boring honestly. He is very knowledgable in his craft but even if your a good writer and overall an A student, you will rarely ever receive an A on an essay.

Okay I read all of these bad reviews on this professor and I was really hesitant to sign up for his class. I am so glad that I ended up signing up for this class with him because honestly this semester has been so amazing. He's hilarious and so nice. This was my first college class, and I'm going to miss it so much!

He is a very tough grader. His test aren't that hard if you read the book and do the practice work. He gives a lot of extra credit. He's a great guy, very funny. If you can't take a joke then don't take his class. Overall, i think he got me ready for ENC1102 because i learned a lot of things i didn't know about writing in his class.

Not a bad teacher at all. I was a bit worried due to his reviews but he isn't a very hard teacher. Just make sure you TRY. That is all. He is willing to work with you. He isn't some strict uptight dude. He's a really good teacher who just gives you a fair amount of work. No reason to give him a rating under 5. Especially if he is willing to help.

At first i was about to drop the class, very organized, very vague, very unclear of anything/everything. I ended up staying and actually started to enjoy the class. Although he continued to be the same disorganized prof, it seemed like he really cared. He goes the extra mile to make long, specific comments on papers to ensure you improve from then.

This teacher sticks to his curriculum and does not deviate, but in the end you will understand what he is trying to teach. He may be difficult at first, but eventually, you will learn successfully. He makes you apply yourself a lot more than you usually would.

Prof. Beck is a really nice guy. He gives a lot of examples in class and relies a lot on group work to examine previous student essays. Very easy on grading, gives good feedback, and is very understanding as long as you speak to him or send an email. He says the book is required but I didn't have one and still passed.
