Explanations are very confusing. Throws many curves and tricks on the tests saying he wants us to know what it feels like to not know the answers when we take the CPA test. Take someone else for this required class!
He wants you to know the material is willing to help you get there if you put in the effort. Work in teams on the homework, practice a lot.
Impossible. Notes and readings are simply put out for you to read. Will help via email if necessary, but no discernible format is given for learning the material other than just 'read it'. Very, very hard course, though I have previously enjoyed and learned alot with other accounting courses. I have to assume it's the teacher.
SO hard. great professor though
This class wasn't great and very difficult but Branson made it worth it and easier to understand. Thanks.
Really nice guy. Always answers your questions and is very helpful. But this is the most difficult class I have ever taken.
Great professor! Very difficult course, but he really cares about his students. Also, very receptive to student questions during office hours. Tests are very similar to his course pack, but can still be difficult. I would definitely recommend this course!
Dr. Branson sometimes rambles, but overall is a very helpful teacher. I liked him a lot and learned a lot. His test are tough if you don't put any effort into them. If you go to class, take notes, and study the book a little (mainly formulas) then there is no reason you shouldn't get a least a B. He's a cool guy and very insightful and helpful.
Branson is an awesome teacher. Class is not bad if you put any effort in whatsoever. The course is supposed to be hard so you won't get an easy A, but his tests are easier than the other options of teachers. TAKE BRANSON.
Great professor, very personable and cares about his job. Class is difficult, but if you put in the time, I can't see why you can't get out with at least a B. Sometimes rambles, but if you listen, he's got some valuable insight and is very intelligent. One of my favorites in the accounting department.
Although he lectures slow, Branson goes over concepts multiple times which was beneficial to me. Although the Problem Sessions are not mandatory, it's beneficial to go because he gives you 15 points back on each quiz if you go to its corresponding Problem Session. It was easier to make an A in this class than other Accounting classes I have taken.
Very difficult class. He clearly knows what he talks about but is very monotone.
He is really boring and very monotone. I would have done better in his class if I were to pay attention more but he is really easy to tune out. The tests are really tough. He is very knowledgeable but doesn't explain things twice so you really need to stay on top of it. If you fall behind early you will be toast.
Branson is a super nice guy and very approachable if you have any questions or need help with anything. His tests are a bit difficult and there's a lot of materiel that gets moved through quickly. Lectures are very easy. He has a super deep, monotone voice.
Very nice person, but it's hard to understand what he is saying most of the time. Most of my studying for ACC210 has been outside of class. Very monotonous as well.
Branson is a super nice guy, he is very knowledgeable and approachable. He does have a very monotone voice, its basically like having Darth Vader as a professor. Would recommend, very difficult class.
Since its a 200 level class, attendance is mandatory but we used TopHat instead of clickers.. and topcoat doesn't use your location so you can still access the material and get attendance points. I failed my first time because I did not take it seriously - do the study exams and email him if you dint understand something. Would recommend.
Great guy, but as the semester dragged on it seemed like he didn't care too much about what was going on. Test heavy with little to no prep for how the actual tests were going to be. Study guide covered concepts, but never examples on how to work through problems. Sink or swim type class. You're on your own!
Super test heavy with minimal room for improvement. Would drone on in lectures trying to explain bland PowerPoints with little info on it. Unclear of what he wanted from us and the tests were never like the study guides. Read the textbook HEAVILY and also memorize your formulas beginning first day of class.
Definitely the best accounting professor I've had so far! His voice is not monotone, from my experience; he gets excited about the material and explains it mostly well. As long as you study ahead of time, you will do fine on the exams. His dry humor will lift your mood, for sure! (Especially with TopHat) I hope to have him in the future!
I don't know what some of the other comments are saying. This guy sucks. He cant teach and he just drones on and on. He really can not get the information across effectively. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS. I taught myself everything, got nothing from the lectures and HATE THIS GUY. He deserves to be fired.
His class is definitely not easy and he teaches at a pretty quick pace. However, he does give access to a couple of practice tests before each test that helped me out a lot. He gives minimal extra credit for participation and homework, but it still helps. Overall, his class isn't too bad, but be prepared to teach yourself a lot.
Bruce is one of the nicest people youll ever meet in your entire life, however that does not equate to a good professor. He tends to overexplain simple concepts and teaches the class like its a CPA prep course. Tests are pretty difficult. Overall, there are worse professors but hes certainly not the best.
Bruce is a great guy but his teaching method was highly ineffective. He would ramble for about 60 - 70% of each lecture period, disengaging his students, and would then proceed to complete complex examples at a fast pace (with minimal explanation) to students with glossed-over eyes. To be successful in this course, you must teach yourself.
Bruce does care about students. Bruce gives online quizzes without teaching half of the material beforehand. Bruce seems like a nice guy and I'm sure that he is, but he is not a nice professor. Bruce wears peculiar shirts... not sure wether they are cool or weird. Bruce's class is extremely difficult and he does not engage the class well. Bruce?!?!
Very friendly and nice, genuinely cares about subject matter and wants students to do well. Tests are difficult, but still easily can get a B or A if you study and do his practice exams.
Branson is a pretty good professor. He talks like Darth Vader and can put you to sleep, but he tries his best to make ACC fun as best he can. If you can try to do the HW for the entire semester all at once because they are easily forgotten about, but def a 100 for HW if you do them all.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. There's like four exams and homework every week that never really feels like it's helping you prepare for the exam. How are my quiz grades going up the more I study but my exam grades are going down? I don't know how I'm going to pass this class and he doesn't allow for extra credit. Accounting should not be this hard
Contrary to what many think of Dr. Branson, I really like him and I enjoy his lectures. Although his tone can be dry, every once in a while he'll throw in a joke. As long as you do and understand the optional homework, the weekly online quizzes aren't difficult (they're also open book). There's also opportunity to get up to 15 points back on them.
Definitely wants to see his students do well. Its a tough course no matter what professor you take. His voice is low and can almost put you to sleep sometimes but his lectures are as interesting as any accounting lectures can be. He offers opportunities to help your grade. Not much homework. Exams tough but fair. Hes a friendly, helpful guy.
I was terrified of this class, but was really pleasantly surprised. Before the university switched everything online, I had about an 80 (good for someone who literally failed econ and hates all related subjects). Exams are exactly like the practice tests and the textbook is a MUST! Dr. Branson keeps the mood light, I love him!
Branson is a really cool guy and if I had put in the work I could've certainly gotten a better grade. The issue was I just couldn't bring myself to pay attention. These lectures are deathly boring. I spent every single class playing games or shopping. It's just impossible to stay awake, much less engaged in this class.
Branson is honestly a really great professor. Everyone makes accounting seem so terrifying, but he makes it feel a lot easier. A great guy, cares about his students, & is extremely organized. It is pretty lecture heavy but all accounting classes are. Be sure to do the suggested HW and read the textbook. If you put in the work, it is not that bad
Honestly, Bruce is hilarious- if you can stay awake long enough during the lectures. Super nice & provides plenty of study resources. If you put in the work, you will do fine. All tests are cumulative but otherwise his tests are reasonable. Does a lot of TopHat ?s so you can't skip. The lectures are a drag but it is accounting
Bruce Branson is by far the best PCOM professor that I have had so far. Financial Accounting is a tough concept to grasp but, the way he lectures and teaches it makes it easy to understand. Make sure you do well on the lecture quizzes, problem session quizzes, and do the connect homework to have a B average. To understand Accounting take Dr Branson
Really good at teaching a very difficult subject. He is very transparent about everything that he does and how to be successful. If people by saying they had to teach themselves mean study, then yeah you have to do that.
Is it accounting? Yes. Is accounting THAT fun? No. However, Bruce does his best at explaining tough material clearly and fully and I think that that has helped me get much better and more confident in my skills.
Accounting is tough and that's not Dr. B's fault. He's a good guy with a great sense of humor and lots of knowledge. I learned a lot from him in an online setting. Super accessible outside of class and always helpful. The class is very reliant on the textbook and lectures but those along with problem sets are helpful and everything needed to pass.
Professor Branson was an amazing professor. Although the course was difficult online, everything is well laid out and organized. Reading/taking notes from the textbook are very beneficial when it comes to exams. He goes over the material thoroughly in his lectures and provides a lot of practice problems! If you want an A: study the textbook!
Branson made online accounting surprisingly easy to understand. The class showed synchronous meeting times but was just prerecorded lectures (notes take very long) so no zooms except optional problem session. Gives lots of resources and feedback to help students be successful and adjusted class as necessary (ex- adjusting test format, quiz time).
Branson's lectures are honestly so helpful- they can be dry at times, but it's accounting, so... I definitely struggled to start out in this class online, but Branson made it really easy to catch up. Highly recommend for this class!
This class was one of the hardest classes I took this semester. Branson does a really nice job of teaching the material, but the class itself requires a huge time investment in order to do well. Don't be afraid to go to him for help. Drops the four lowest quiz scores at the end of the semester but tests are extremely hard.
Is accounting a boring subject? Yes but Branson can't really do much about that. But he is really good at explaining the topics he's covering in the lectures. The weekly quizzes are a little annoying but they're not that big of a deal. He also responds to emails pretty fast which is a plus and he sends out lots of emails to help keep you on track.
Accounting is not easy, but Dr. B provides a lot of support to help you through. You have two lecture videos and five question quizzes per week with attendance check numbers for two of your free answers, weekly SmartBooks, and emails that explain commonly missed lecture quiz questions and the logic for them. He explains things very well!
ACC is hard & he talks REALLY slow, but he's a great teacher. Tests/homework are fair & he gives tons of good study material. He knows the class is hard & works w/ students. Fun guy, I think he left his own joke review on here once lmao. 4 exams, 2 3q quizzes a week from lecture, & 1 overview quiz per week. Do the readings & lectures & you're good.
Accounting isn't a fun subject for me to begin with but professor Branson made it much more easy to understand. There is a lot of work for the class but I feel like its a subject that you need to practice to understand so it didn't bother me as much. He is very helpful and he drops a few of the quizzes so its easy to get a decent grade.
This class is way harder than it needs to be. If you fail one of the tests you will basically end up getting a B in the class. The lecture quizzes are very stupid and unnecessary and bring down your grade. Do the suggested homework and practice tests if you want to do good on the tests. Reading the textbook doesn't really help much. Terrible class.
This class was a lot harder than it needed to be. The lecture quizzes are only 5 questions but he doesn't give you enough time to finish them & they aren't useful on the tests. Doing bad on one test can drag your grade down & already puts you in the B range. The problem sessions were useless b/c they just read off the answer key. Awful class.
Dr. Branson has good intentions. He is a really nice guy, but like other reviews say his lectures are not engaging. He gets off topic and the information you pull from the lectures will not help you score well on tests and quizzes. I thought I would be fine with a professor that has longer lectures, but I was wrong. He is very accessible.
Dr. Branson is a great guy and being online was nice because you are able to speed up his lectures because he does talk slow. Tests are very challenging and the multiple choice answers are all reasonable so you really have to know the material. Reading the textbook is awful but necessary.
The material is not hard by any means but it is quite a lot to learn. In the online format, Dr. Branson sends emails frequently and is very accessible in this regard. Reading the textbook is required and lectures can be long-winded. Be careful with the wording on tests, they can trip you up sometimes. No cumulative final exam, which was a relief.
Nice guy but is not a great professor. Lectures are pretty boring and he talks like he expects students to already know what he is talking about. There is a decent amount of homework each week too. The averages for exams are always pretty low typically in the 70s so it is hard to do well on them. Basically, it is a class where you could get by.
I like Dr. Branson, but there is really no opportunity to improve your grade if you do badly on one exam. I studied hard and performed high Bs and As on all my quizzes and exams but failed one exam and can't even get a B+. It's not too bad if you keep up with the work, but it is sort of difficult to get an A in his class.
Professor Branson is a great guy. He is funny and in touch with his students, but very very boring. His lectures drag and his monotone will make you want to fall asleep. Accounting is not an easy concept, but if you put in the effort you see yourself succeed. A lot of quizzes and tests that can be quite tricky if you don't study.
Dr. Branson is a good professor. He is funny and his lectures are informative (although they shouldn't take up so much time). Be sure to do the TopHat attendance questions and read the textbook.
There are a lot of tests and quizzes in this class, so be prepared! The key to success is to take advantage of practice problems and taking good notes. The lectures are informative, but I found it beneficial to read the textbook as well. I also found it helpful to attend the problem sessions as needed.
This class is difficult, but very doable if you are willing to put in the work. You can tell Dr. Branson really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is very accessible and emails us a few times a week which helps you make sure you are getting all your work done!
Had four tests over the semester. Class got easier as it went along, and there isn't a cumulative final. Lots of extra credit. Overall, the best professor I had this semester. Make sure to do connect assignments and the weekly quizzes and you'll get through.
Professor Branson is hands down my favorite professor. His class was the hardest one yet, and I had to put in a lot of effort, but I really enjoyed him and his class. You can always ask him for help, he is extremely thorough (especially with emails) and he offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. DO THEM ALL!!! And don't give up early on.
This man is a king. Accounting is definitely a difficult class, but he makes it much easier to understand. Very accessible and makes sure there are plenty of assignments so that if you mess up on a few you can still do very well. Took him in person but attendance wasn't mandatory and tests were on moodle and open note/book. Definitely takes work!
Dr. Branson genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. That said, this is not an easy class. It requires studying and preparation. Most of the lectures were well-planned and easy to follow. The grading criteria is fair, and he typically goes over commonly missed questions after exams and quizzes, which I found really helpful.
I found his lectures were very hard to follow. I had this class in Nelson Hall and it was really hard to hear him. Tests were online and homework was not too bad. The attendance for the problem session is not mandatory. Since he's pretty much the only professor for ACC 210, I recommend taking him online.
Professor Branson is great and make the lectures easy to engage with as he is passionate about the topic. It can get very confusing if you miss a few lectures so make sure to watch them and you'll be fine. He is funny and sends daily emails answering questions asked and giving updates on the class. Would definitely take again.
His lectures aren't exciting, but if you copy the notes and study a bit you can pass. I put a lot of time into the class and got a B. The class is test and lecture-heavy. Tests have a lot of questions in a short amount of time, so getting As on tests can be difficult. Branson sometimes puts hard test questions. Take it online if you can.
Genuinely cares about his students and gives good feedback, including almost daily update emails. This class takes up SO much time because of hours of lectures, homework, and quizzes each week. He seemed very nice and made the lectures fun. Watch out for trick questions on quizzes and exams.
Branson is a nice guy and tries to connect with his students. However, he struggles with understanding that talking for a long time is not the best way to engage with his students and gets extremely boring. If you want to make a B or better have fun spending all your free time reading and trying to comprehend the lectures.
Material is hard but Professor Branson does the best he can to help you. Grades comes from 4 exams (get to use one sheet of notes), lecture quizzes, weekly Smartbooks (easy 100s), and weekly problem session quizzes (open note). Need to study and practice a lot for the exams but the lectures and book cover all you need to know if you put in the time
Branson is overall a great professor. He's passionate about the class but tends to go off on a tangent during lectures. Material is difficult but if you do the readings and practice a lot it isn't hard. You have 4 exams and no final (he allows a sheet of paper for the tests), weekly quizzes, and smartbook assignments. Attendance isn't mandatory:)
Professor Branson did a great job designing the course. However, since I took this class online, I ended up teaching myself all the material through the textbook because I hate watching recorded lectures, and tbh I still did well on the tests. The tests are challenging, but they are similar to the practice exams he gives, so I would refer to that.
He definitely cares for his students and wants them to succeed, but his exams were always very difficult and he did not prepare us for them enough. He assigned 2 small quizzes a week and a weekly problem session quiz. He also used and assigned Connect assignments.
Bruce is amazing, this class is definitely hard but there is NOTHING he could do better. He uses so many examples in class and lets you have a cheat sheet for every test, including final. My favorite prof i've had so far. If you pay attention, READ THE TEXTBOOK, and do the xtra credit. You'll do fine. I failed the final and got a B.
Nothing to complain about. Pay attention in lectures. Plenty of homework but it's relatively easy.
HW consist of a smartbook, quiz and two lecture quizzes a week. The professor gives you good resources, however, the class itself is really hard. The professor is nice and lets you use one sheet of notes on the test.
Difficult course, but professor provides resources for students to succeed. He is a good lecturer and always adds something to make the lectures more enjoyable, whether it is a joke or something from Star Wars.
You definitely have the ability to be successful in this class if you use all the resources available to you and put in some effort. Professor Branson was available outside of class time and truly cares about the success of his students. Overall a great class!
Dr. Branson was a great personality to have, especially in an online class. The lectures were engaging, and it was clear that he enjoyed the content. There are some concepts, however, that weren't communicated as clearly as they could've been, which made certain topics especially in the middle of the course a bit foggy. Otherwise, great teacher.
ACC 210 is a hard course, but Professor Branson is the best teacher available for it. He is very keen on explaining all concepts and willing to listen to any questions you have. He sends out daily emails which are great for reminding you what assignments are due that week. It is a hard course, but if I had to do it again, I would take Branson 100%.
Great professor! I took his class online, which let me pause and rewind if I missed something. Highly recommend!
I loved Dr. Branson. He was easy to reach outside of class and he was kind. I will say that it is important to READ THE TEXTBOOK as he will go over what you need, but the textbook enhances a lot of what he says. I will say there is a lot of work, but that's because this class was surprisingly difficult and practice does matter.
Every week, there's 2 quizzes, 1 smartbook hw, 1 practice quiz due. We also have to watch 2 lectures and prepare for exams, writing summary sheet. I spend 8+ hours every week including weekends to keep track of the course progress. To be honest, this course is much more time consuming than my all other courses registered of the semester combined...
Funny guy, allows a cheat sheet on each exam which resemble the practice exams alot. Ive heard accounting was hard but I dont think he made it as hard as it could be
As a non-accounting major, I definitely think that this was a pretty tough class. There are 2 lecture quizzes and 1 chapter quiz weekly. Tests are pretty hard but cheat sheets are allowed and he also curves them. He is very lecture heavy and takes up the entire 90 minutes of his class without a minute to spare. He definitely loves his accounting!
Prepare to sit through all 75 minutes of his lectures, his homework and quizzes are very helpful for studying, he sends a lot of emails but he's there to help if needed. Class itself is difficult, he does his best to simplify stuff, he allows notes on his tests and curves them, if you want an A in this class you have to work for it. Very nice guy!
Bruce is a good professor and provides ample resources to succeed in this class, if you put in the time. There is a lot of weekly homework in this class. The 4 exams are taken at Delta. He allows a cheat sheet for exams. ACC 210 is a hard class in general, but Bruce does his best to make it manageable.
Class consists of 4 exams, weekly quizzes (as well as the problem session course), and weekly smartbook assignments. Branson is cool but there is a lot of content and is a lot to grasp. Exams are taken at the Delta testing center and you're allowed to bring in one sheet of notes (front and back).
Took notes on every lecture and did all the practices. Got an A. This class has more work than my major courses. Be ready to set large amount of time for studying this class. Multiple quizzes every week, delta testing exam about every 3 week. Make sure don't fall behind!
Good professor, sometimes boring, but that may be just accounting as a whole. Pay attention to what he says in lectures and it will really help with understanding the lectures. He gave us a note page, front and back, for each test, including the "final" (which really was just another test). Overall, a good class that was sometimes boring but easy.
Bruce is an amazing, joyful, animated professor who is very clearly excited about the material he teaches. He can get off-topic and distracted, but he likes to explain topics with detailed examples. His class is outlined very clearly and assignments/expectations are consistent and easy to follow.
Although he gives a lot of assignments, it is really helpful because you get that extra practice. For the tests, you have practice exams, he curves the exams, and he provided an extra credit opportunity. He emails weekly reminders of the assignments due that week, and he does a congratulations email if you get an A on a test.
While Accounting is a very hard topic, Professor Branson makes learning the content a lot easier. Textbook reading is key and does take time. Exams make up your grade along with a few quizzes and homework assignments. Lectures were interactive and definitely helped with the textbook readings.
Great at communication!
He is an amazing professor. The only hard thing to deal with is the material and even then he does his best to help. The lectures are long but aren't hard to listen to. Would definitely recommend.
His rating should not be this low, he is a good professor the class material is just hard. Attendance not required, practice exams are like actual exams
Bruce was a super cool dude! I am not going to lie, accounting is hard and this is a difficult class. But, Professor Branson gave a lot of review material before each test that really helped with my performance. He does top hats during the class to keep you engaged. As long as you read the textbook and put effort in you will do fine!
Branson is the GOAT of accounting. Definitely top 3 professor I've ever had. His lectures are very concise and make sense. He's very accessible outside class. Also lots of practice material to ensure that you've mastered the material.
This was the hardest class I've taken. 3 quizzes a week and 5 tests. Lots of homework and lectures and textbook doesn't help for what will be on tests. Takes up a lot of your time and unless you just understand accounting this class will be brutal.
ACC 210 is a really hard class, which is why having someone like Professor Branson who is clear on what you need to do to be successful is so nice. This isn't a class that you feel unprepared going into the test unless you simply didn't study. Make sure to take the practice test before the exams, they are very helpful.
Branson is Awesome. He is passionate about the subject he teaches and although it can make his lectures hard to understand, he is more than willing to give feedback and assistance with difficult material. Tests are difficult but match class material so studying is a must. If you get the chance, take this professor.
I'm not going to lie, this is not an easy class, but Professor Branson made the material much easier to understand. He is very kind and caring and always willing to help if you don't understand something. There are 3 quizzes a week, but if you stay on top of things they are not very hard. I would definitely recommend taking this class with him.
Professor Branson is an incredible professor. If you watch his lectures and take quality notes while truly trying to understand the material, you will do well on the exams. He is so sweet and a fun professor who clearly likes what he is teaching. I highly recommend him. Be sure to do all the extra credit you can because accounting is hard!
Professor Branson is a great professor. Lectures are concise and explains concepts well. If you listen to his lectures and take good notes, you will do good in the class. Exams are hard, but they match what was learned, and he curves every exam. You get a cheat sheet for every exam and he provides a practice exam for every exam. Highly recommend!
Professor Branson is kind and a good teacher. However, the course is incredibly difficult, there is a very slight curve on tests and he gives no extra credit opportunities. I would suggest taking this class at a community college and transferring credit.
Bruce is amazing! He sends LOTS of emails but I enjoyed it as it kept me up to date on everything. Decent amount of weekly homework but it helps to prepare for exams. Though ACC-210 is a difficult course Bruce provides you with all the resources needed to succeed. You can tell he loves his job and all tests are curved. Definitely take him!
best option for ACC 210, felt like he did a great job with his lectures and understood the principle of giving a lot of practice work to help you succeed for the tests. If you truly want to succeed, do all of the optional homework and practice exams and ask questions frequently. overall a genuine/kind guy who wants his students to succeed.
He's a good professor and his class is really well structured. This class can be confusing but if you do all the homework and practice with the resources he gives you you should be fine. His lectures are a bit boring and everything is on the textbook.
I was nervous about taking this class online, but Professor Branson is super nice. The path through the course is clear, the lectures are all online but still engaging. It is easy to reach Professor Branson via email and he even took the time to meet with me virtually to review test questions so I could understand which concepts confused me.
Prof. Branson is one of the best you can get for 210. Personality-wise, he's a nice old dude who will send you email reminders and congratulate you if you do well. I didn't find this class difficult, but if you struggle with math, economics, or critical thinking you might struggle. The class offers a ton of extra resources if you need help.
I cannot describe to you in words how good of a professor Bruce Branson is. He cares so much about his students and tries so hard to be funny and relatable. His lectures are amazing and you can tell that he puts so much time into them. With that being said, the class is HARD. I would highly recommend taking it online so you can pause lectures.
Great professor. Always is sending emails to check in and is extremely knowledgable when it comes to accounting. He's also just a really nice guy.
If you can take a different professor, you should. Going to class does not help you. I'd rather take calculus again than take this class.
Allowed cheat sheet on every exam, including final. Offers many resources like practice tests/exam review questions to prepare you. Engaging lectures.
Just do the practice exams and youll be fine. Theres SB assignments and weekly quizzes but theyre not bad + you get to use your notes. The real exams are just like the practice exams so as long as you understand those concepts you will do good. If you are confused you can ask Prof Branson he will help.
Professor Branson was an absolutely phenomenal professor. If you attend lectures and take good notes, this class is extremely manageable. Professor Branson is also very accessible outside of class and I suggest taking advantage of that.
Overall very solid professor, knowledgable on the subject, happy to answer questions, very clear curriculum. If you attend lecture and do the assignments you'll be fine
Professor Branson is a great teacher who makes the difficult material more manageable. Utilize the practice tests and resources provided - they really help prepare for the challenging exams. Unstuck ai was also a lifesaver for my study prep.
Dr. Branson is the GOAT! He made tricky topics very easy to understand, and there is well-paced practice throughout. Attendance is required, but you will want to go to class! You get a one-page note sheet for all exams, but I didn't ever need it to get an A! Highly recommend!
Makes a hard class easier than it would be without his clear teaching. Tests are hard. Make sure to do the practice material that he posts. Also don't miss the homework so it can help bump your grade up a little from the harder tests.
One of the best professors for accounting. He is quick to reply to student questions, giving thorough answers. Sends out very helpful emails each week outlining the course and due dates. Would highly recommend. If you put in the work, you will see it translate on exams. Gives you a cheat sheet. Classic connect homework smartbook assignments.
What can I really say? Bruce is that guy. "Remember, this is not a taxation class." - Bruce Branson 2025
I would take someone else if you can. Exams are extremely hard, have to be taken at Delta, and are nothing like the practice exams considering you get on the exam and it is completely different. TEST HEAVY!!!!
Professor Branson was very good for ACC 210. I definitely learned a lot. However, he can get sidetracked and it can hinder the lecture, especially with lots of questions. Super lenient grader though, and your final exam grade can replace your lowest grade if it's beneficial for you. Cannot recommend him enough.
Branson is a fantastic professor! Funny guy who is very knowledgeable and really wants to see you succeed. Make sure you're reading the textbook, because sometimes he tests on things in the back of the chapter that never get mentioned in class.
Really nice proffesor but didint learn anything from lecture. Luckley the practice tests are very simular to the actual ones. He does test on stuff not lectured on or in the practice test so much sure you read the textbook.
Dr. Branson is a great professor! I thought he explained the concepts well and that the lectures were helpful. Really nice guy. The assignments are not that difficult, he also curved every test. The tests can be a bit intimidating but they're very similar to the practice tests, so just write example questions on your notesheet. Also read the book!
Branson is a great professor who explains the complex concepts of accounting to beginners very well. He rounds every exam and has optional homework that definitely helps with tests. He is very responsive outside of class on his Moodle page. If you have to take anyone, I would 100% recommend taking Branson over anyone else.
Bruce Branson is an awesome professor that actually cares about his students. This class is hard but manageable if you put in A LOT of time studying. To prep for exams make a really good cheat sheet and take the practice exams (they are very similar). The final exam is definitely the hardest test. He is also easily accessible outside of class!
Overall, Dr. Branson is a good professor who explains the material well. However, the class is hard and boring, so I had a really tough time. Exams are worth 85% of your grade, and the several time-consuming assignments are only worth 15%. Luckily, every exam is curved by a few points, and you get a two-sided one-page cheat sheet for each one.
Dr.Branson has all the qualities of a great professor. He knows what he's talking about, he's adaptive, he's caring, and he's funny. Highly recommend taking him
If you value your mental health, think twice before enrolling
Bruce knows accounting in and out. I found that going to every lecture and listening mindfully throughout made this class very simple. This was my first time being exposed to accounting, and I was able to average an A on the first 3 exams by just going to lecture and taking very minimal notes outside of class. P.S. don't overcomplicate concepts.
Bruce is a nice guy, just not the best professor. His lectures are monotone and PowerPoint-heavy, which made it hard for me to stay engaged—especially since I don't love accounting. I'm retaking it online with Robin Thomas, and her guided packet notes make all the difference. Be ready to teach yourself if you take Bruce!
Professor Branson is great. Clearly knows what he is teaching and gives you everything that you need. I felt like I did not appreciate him until I had Natalie Young for managerial (which I almost didn't pass her class).
Amazing lecturer, took him online with no office hours and tests at delta, and was still able to get a great foundational knowledge of accounting. He is very good at explaining each concept and if you pay attention to his videos, it will be easy to do very well in his class. Only bad part is, I got a 97.5% but it wasn't an A+ in his grading system.
Nice guy, but his usage of online tools could use a LOT of improvement. He forgets to mark things on the Moodle calendar, and as such it becomes very easy to miss assignments there and on McGraw Hill. Be prepared to teach yourself too, as the exam material differs from the homework and course content a bit. The lectures are monotone and unengaging.
This class was just super exam heavy and has little forgiveness for doing poorly on those exams.
I don't think this is necessarily on Branson. This class format is flawed. Lectures are unhelpful, monotone, and long. You benefit more from the problem sessions where they walk you through the practice problems. You need enough discipline to *understand* the material yourself, not just *know* it. Take it at WakeTech, it's structured better.
Honestly, anyone complaining about Professor Branson is simply doing so because they didn't do well in the class. This class was hybrid, and the videos were SUPER helpful, seriously, just watch them and pay attention and you'll do good on the exams. Practice exams are very helpful and similar to the actual exam. Definitely take him if you can.
Dr. Branson was a very nice professor and was very knowledgeable on the subject. However, this class was extremely frustrating to say the least. I would spend hours on end studying every bit of material, only to get screwed over by test questions that weren't covered. Get ready to waste your time studying only to get stuck on tests.
This class was kind of a paradox to me. Bruce is an amazing dude and was my favorite professor of the semester but I hated ACC 210 with a passion. I studied everyday for the first two tests and got 70's on each, so I decided to not study at all for the third test. I still got a 70 on the third test. It was horrible but at least Bruce was my teacher
When I signed up for the class, I was under the impression that it would meet twice a week. On day 1, he told us it would be a hybrid class, meeting once a week (his decision). He uploads long lecture videos for the online portion, and in class he just goes over examples rather than teaching the content. I'm sure this works for others, but not me.
Let me clarify, Prof. Branson is a great person but this class was SO difficult. All of the material is taught through online lectures, and the one in-person class was a problem session where nothing was taught. Some people might learn this way but I don't. There are 3 exams and a final which is cumulative with a crapload of weekly hw assignments.
I love Bruce! He explains the material well and gives you all the recourses you need to succeed. This class is challenging, however, so be prepared to take a lot of time outside class to learn. There is a lot of homework but it isn't bad. The lectures can be kind of long and boring.
It's an extremely difficult class with a very likable professor. I dedicated at least 40 hours a week towards ACC 210 to get the grade I got. Unfortunately, it's required for anyone looking to do something in business/econ at NC state, whether you like accounting or not. I'd recommend taking this class if your semester is looking light.
Bruce Branson is an amazing professor and it is clear he cares about his students and how they do in his class. However, the class itself is very time consuming as there is a lot of work. The tests can be hard at times, however he gives a cheat sheet and bonus points. This class isn't too hard as long as you stay on top of your work.
If you have nothing but time on your hands and really really really like accounting then this class is for you. The only thing that helped me pass was solely the problem sessions. Bruce is a great professor but this class should be structured in a way where people who work everyday of the week and are taking 18 credits actually stand a chance.
Branson is a good teacher and he knows what he's talking about, but this class is structured horribly. This is by far one of the hardest classes I have taken and I hate that it was mainly online. Mandatory attendance for no reason, lectures and problem sessions seemed pointless. Non-exam grades weigh very little for the amount of work put into them
Hybrid style - in class Thursday, Problem session friday. All learning online. This is a very difficult class, and all of the homework's and quizzes don't weigh much in your final grade. 1/3 of this class failed the final and he only gave 3 extra credit points. Do not take with another difficult class, and do not procrastinate.
I took this class online, and the class requirements were very clear from day 1. The exams make up a majority of your grade. They are pretty hard, so it is important to prepare accordingly. The other assignments account for about 30% of your grade.
professor branson was a great professor for as boring as accounting is. definitely a lot of work but unfortunately necessary for the nature of the class (requires lots of practice). he is a super smart guy though and obviously cares about his students' success. but be prepared to commit a lot of hours to his class.
He is clearly very knowledgeable on the topic, but this class is hard. Your TAs for the problem session will be your saving grace. Branson's lectures aren't good. You sit there, working on a problem while he talks nonstop. The rest of them are online, which wasn't disclosed until the first class. Don't take this online or hybrid if you want to pass
Professor Branson was a great teacher and very knowledgeable about the subject matter. This is a challenging course, and consistent studying is necessary to earn a good grade. Do not underestimate the amount of time and effort required. Overall, it is one of the more difficult classes I have taken so far.
Extremely nice and accommodating. He tries his hardest to be a good professor and clearly wants the best for the students. The only reason he isn't a 5 for me is that I felt like some of his lectures were unsatisfactory. Some lectures were confusing, often packing TOO much information in at once, leaving me pretty lost at times.
210 is tough, but Branson is a great professor with great insight. This class actually made me switch my major to accounting, since it was extremely interesting to me. I found Branson's office hours outside of class to be helpful, and there are plently of resources (problem sessions, study groups, etc) which help you succeed.
Professor Branson has really great lectures, homework assignments, and TA's and is super responsive. However, this course is difficult! Make sure you do everything on time(PS, the optional homework is really helpful for the quizzes). Don't underestimate the course like I did, ha! This is one of those courses you need to make lots of time for.
Branson is knowledgeable and does want you to succeed, but I would not say he is a good professor. It's like he expects you to know what he is talking about walking into the class. The lectures are all online as well as the textbook, so you are teaching yourself. He does examples in class. The TA's are more helpful in the problem sessions than him.
