Loves to say, "I don't care if you like me, only that you respect me." Probably the most useful class I've taken at Hofstra. Do the work and you'll be fine. Take the constant sarcasm the right way and you'll get a lot out of his class.

He wears his pants a little too high and repeats a lot of the same anecdotes, but is still a great teacher. Sure he makes fun of the crazy kid in back who likes guns, but it's all in good fun, because when you genuinely need help he is there for you.

Doesnt care if you are in class or not. Wont pass if you arent though. Hes a sarcastic douchebag and loves to talk chit, but its awesome. If you are gonna work with others on the final, dont go to the library cause he checks in there.

Had him over the summer. Very entertaining and very intelligent. Lots of things learned in a short period of time. Take Home Test is Not Easy, but he is fair and very witty. But its true do not get on his bad side, or your in for it.

Bruce loves the sound of his own voice, but he does know what he's talking about. Very intelligent and the class is highly entertaining.

Hardcore professor. This guy is no joke. However, his tactics, reasoning and thinking is incredible. I think everybody forgets what we're in it for and that is the future managers of America. If you can't handle him, your in the wrong field.

This man is a cut above the rest. A true passion for teaching! Likes to talk about himself. You have to admire his honesty. If you cant handle it then grow a thicker skin. Great professor during class, but after class ends he is a different man. He is a jerk when you talk to him one-on-one

This guy is crazy! I would not really recommend anyone to take him BUT! his grading is NICE! He only gave an OPEN BOOK MIDTERM with a curve of 21 pts. and a TAKE-HOME FINAL. If you fail the midterm but get an A in the Final you get an A for the class! I don't know if he will do that for a next sem!

He is a great professor. Knows his stuff. He is extremely touch but fair. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

take him if you can....he has his own teaching style but he knows his stuff. the book is long and enduring and this guy brings the book down to earth and relates it to life....he gave a open book midterm and take home final..dont know if he will continue that way in following semesters.

This was probally the most fun class Ive taken at Hofstra. The guy is not the nicest guy in the world but he does teach well and he makes you actually want to come to his lectures. His grading system is more than fair.

May seem a little intimidating at first, but stick with it, its an enjoyable class and his grading is more than fair.

This guys is a hardass no question but he knows his**** through and through. total history buff. can be a bit arrogant,and also makes fun of the students sometimes but if he does believe me u had it comin. he's a cool guy i enjoyed his class a ton,makes ya laugh and grading is fair. take his ass!!

Likes to talk about himself a lot, but he's definitely a good guy. I've taken a few classes with him and he knows the material well and generally there aren't any papers or anything; just a take home final.

I forgot what i had him for, b/c it has been a couple of years. This guy aint your friendly H.S. teacher, so Freshmen, buckle up!! Great teacher though, I learned a lot. Take him early in the A.M. He seems to like the initiative, and takes it easier on you.

Picks on the students, kind of funny in a weird way sometimes... Man is so smart, good teacher knows his stuff.. Not a hard grader... Take him, hes not the nightmare everyone says he is..

He is a very good professor. He knows what he is talking about and doesnt come to class with notes. He goes on tangents alot, but if you take good notes and pay attention you will be fine. I suggest taking him for a crash course (intersession or summer) all your grade will be based on is an exam.

Had him long ago. If you don't come to class prepared and ready to "play", take someone else, but if you want to learn quite a bit, he's the guy. He does not suffer fools. Smarter than a tree full of owls. Inspired me to get my own Ph. D. You go Bruce!

He's NOT that bad as some of you make him out to be. Get over it if he picked on you, you probably gave a stupid comment or had no idea of what was going on in class.Get good notes, although he gets off topic, you need to pay attention. It'll help on the test. Overall, not hard if uou have goodnotes

First of all, this is probably the best professor Hofstra University has to offer. Dr. Charnov is a HIGHLY accomplished professor with a lot of insight on a lot of topics. He might be strict to you, but he was a high rank in the navy. He actually wants students to leave educated. He'll make you learn your sh*t. He's got a sense of humor too. A+

Great class really helpful at explaining things

Give it up folks. While he is tough you will learn. There are comments he should not make but at least he is engaging you. You cannot skate in every class. Drop the class if you don't like him!!!!

He is a not a hard professor, but strict. He is VERY GOOD as well as intersting. He will give a lot of work, but you will learn a lot. I had a few classes and they were great.

he's alright, either you get along with him or not. had him a couple of times, his tests aren't bad, and there's no homework so how bad could it be!

The class is basically an open forum of discussion pertaining to ethical dilemmas, which if any of you are familiar with means that there are no right or wrong answers, so no matter what you say he will argue the opposite point. So don't fret, contribute here and there, do the work, and youll breeze by. I can see where some dislike him, but i liked

I had him for a 6:30 am class. He is the mgt. chairman and is very tough. Be on time, go to class every time, and make sure to raise your hand. Don't bother asking questions of common sense.

Just mention james bond and helicopters and he will love you. tough, strict guy if you dont mention something that interests you. don't interupt, just listen and ask questions on your free time in his office if you can get a minute from him. He is a very busy man.

This man is a gret teacher- not too many of him left in hofstra or anywhere. he is to the point, so interesting and engaging, teaches you everything you need to know and will review points so you understand. is very strict but i loved him, i loved every minute of sitting in that class

I feel foolish and remorseful that I wasted a few years being afraid of him. He is so compassionate, and highly knowledgable, and I'm glad that I was in his class. Students who have the petty negative comments are just superficial, and don't realize the great opportunity given to them just by being in this man's class.

Charnov acts like he's all tough but when you talk to him outside, he's very sweet and helpful. Helped me make my resume on his time. Maybe the reason he "belittles" people as others say is cuz he doesn't want to take any sh*t from anyone, doesn't want to deal with immaturity. Who can blame him? No hw..take home tests...Good guy...

This man is absolutely hilarious...very cynical and the work is not difficult...all groupwork and when you have 14 people in a group is it really that hard to do a little work??

Funny professor - picked on a few of his students. Took him during SSI. Tells a lot of stories - some of which are interesting. I recommend him - Only one test which was take home and it was tough but if you paid attention in class you would do fine. Got an A

Only one exam..Exam is cumulative take home and worth 100% of grade. Textbook is only needed as a refernce when doing final. 8 questions on final, takes you about 8 hours to do. Not a bad guy, pretty easy class

This guy is the most arrogant person at Hofstra, He is a real live "A" hole, THAT'S WHY HE IS THE MAN!!! I have learned so much from this guy and classes are hilarious!! He won't take any ** from nobody. He's one of the best teachers at hofstra- he's one of the smartest professors Hofstra has ever attained. I've had him for 3 classes. fun time

Very full of himself. Thinks hes the greatest thing... but he is the greatest professor at Hofstra. The class is very enjoyable. Impossible to fall asleep in. Never keeps you the full time. 100% of grade is a take home final. 8 questions meaning 8 pages of work. You will learn alot in this class and you will love it. Take him whenever possible.

Charnov is one of a kind. He's the type of teacher that makes paying for college worth it. I feel like i am a better and more informed person having attended his lectures. He is an excellent communicator and never fails to keep**** interesting. I dont think i'll take a better professor. Take home final is 100% of grade. dont slack! it takes 10hrs

good teacher, easy to follow. He's a good guy, just don't get on his bad side because he will embarrass you. Don't take offense to anything he says he's just messing around. Good class you can actually learn something.
