Easy A. Just start the final paper in the middle of the semester instead of starting it at the last minute like I did :/
maybe the best teacher i have ever had. kinda hard tests. study and do the extra credit. he is so cool he makes little raps in class and sings to try and teach us. such a cool guy. make sure you take him.
Take this class. Easy A with little effort. Make sure to do the extra credit.
easiest A ive ever gotten and i NEVER went to class. he tells you exactly what to study and all you have to do is read those pages. he even gives you the short essay questions during the review..how much easier do you want?? TAKE HIM
dont go to class but go for the reviews...hard-ish tests but not bad. i got an a and did the research paper the night before..got an A
I love Professor Farcau! He is the funniest teacher I've ever had. I enjoy going to his class just to hear what he'll say next!
Best teacher ever!
Amazing professor. The class isn't hard at all, if you study. The tests can be tough, but he tells you what to review. He's very entertaining, and very funny.
super easy class if you have any sort of brain. he is hilarious and very smart. it's fun to go to class and listen to his lectures.
Tests: essay and short answer, but tells you EXACTLY whats going to be on the test...I really enjoyed him, sometimes boring (lectures) but for the most part interesting-lots of readings..but dont have to read everything-plus he gives EX CREDIT definately taking him again!
This guy is cool, interesting, funny, does a real good review before the test that tells you exactly everything that is on the test, term paper, and lots of extra credit, i would recommend this guy for sure
Not only does he make things appeal to us by singing or attempting to rap in class - he practically gives you the test answers for the essay portion! Doesn't take attendance except sometimes for x-tra credit and offers an extra credit paper worth up to +20% on any test. East class over all.
This was a great class, Farcau is the****! Practically gives you the test as a review. Teaches the class in a way that is interesting and entertaining. Also, his textbooks are cheap and very interesting. One of the top 3 professors ive had at UCF. Definately take this guy.
great teacher
Farcau is a very cool man. I'd def. recommend taking his government class, even if you aren't a poli sci major. He's quite a hoot and he'll tell you what will be on the test, which are mult. choice and an essay. He'll also list possible essay topics, so you can pick one to study for. I got an A!
My absolute favorite teacher so far! You don't have to show up but I wanted to because he was so funny. He gives really simple notes so if you take them you hardly have to study to ace the tests. If you don't show up, he gives you all the material on the review anyway. He also makes a great Elvis!!
Great teacher, knowledgable in the subject! He's a pretty cool and funny guy who doesn't impose his opinions on you, although I think he voted for Bush... Once in awhile he'll be a little weird but thats cool, just pay attention in class and you'll do well, his notes are the test.
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. As long as you go to the reviews and study for the tests, you'll get an A. Doesn't take attendance... and he raps to the class. Makes the class entertaining!
Good teacher, brings great energy and teaching tactics to class.
Really good professor. Don't have to read as long as you go to class and listen. He tells you exactly what is on the test and is very clear in his lectures. He can be a little boring and has a conservative slant, but he's real smart and knows what he's talking about.
The most biased professor on campus. Good class if you believe in the "liberal conspiracy". As a teacher, he wasn't too hard but his lectures were a waste of time since he spent a good portion of his time bashing the "liberal media" and Democrats. I could have missed his commentary and read at home.
Sick & tired of having a partisan history. Thought I would learn about political mistakes & victories, but instead I learned about the "liberal conspiracy." He defended Pinochet; said Watergate was no big deal; said French colonialism was beneficial. History isn't to be dictated by two parties.
He is so sweet and tries really hard to make the class interesting and fun. He'll talk about anything you bring up if you want him to. He makes jokes the whole class. I loved him...Highly Recommended
All I have to say is you don't even have to attend class to get an A, but it does make getting one a little easier. The most important thing you need to do is the Extra credit book report, and other than that just keep up on the reading and show up for review sessions.
Great professor with real world experience. I marked "very easy," its not that he is so easy, so much as he is very clear. Also gives a good exam review 2 days before each test. Good discussions in class. Can't do better than Dr. Farcau, everyone I know looks for his classes each semester.
Going to class helps but you can just go to the review the day before the test. Test questions are simple and almost stright from the book other then test grades there is a paper due but it's no big deal just don't wait till the night before to do it.
really good professor, makes jokes in class and gives extra credit when no one shows up :) A 15 page paper due at the end of the semester but he gives you extra credit and reveiews before tests. Really good
really intelligent guy. over-qualified for the job. lectures are both interesting and informative, never angry, never late. exams are cake. take him. best professor there is.
dr. farcau is one of the most intelligent and in touch professors i have ever taken. hes overly brilliant and severely qualified for the classes hes involved in...nothing beats real world experience overseas and his quips and stories are second to none. he really knows his stuff and i highly recommend him to anyone who really wants to learn.
He makes waking up at 7:30 am in the morning easy! does not take roll!! He leactures and before the test he goes page by page in the book and tells you whats on the test! So just show up on the review and on test days and you got an A. Yes and its that esay!!!1
He's amazing and hilarious! He makes waking up at the crack of dawn a little bit easier! And his rap songs are hysterical!
I love this guy! Definitely take him if you can! The class is easy! You have 3 tests and one paper due! That's it! Test reviews are amazing! Extra credit too! He's also hilarious. He cracks jokes and does the most random stuff! His singing is the best! Take this class!!!
Great professor, straight forward and admittedly conservative. Tests are simple unless you have him 3 days a week and then take the take home test 50 mins is not enough time to get everything down on paper he does not care whether you do it in class or not. Diplomacy is the same way His reviews mirror the tests.
Great Professor! If you have any interest in Vietnam you should take this class.
Farcau is a great professor who knows his stuff. Tests aren't too bad. He goes over everything that is on them. The essay question at the end of each test can be a little tricky so read up. The 8 page paper at the end of the term is very easy as long as you don't wait until the very last second to do it. I highly recommend Professor Farcau!
Terribly conservative. Easy B. Write exactly what he says in class. No need to buy the books. I don't think he realizes JFK is dead (and can no longer influence foreign policy).
An easy class. He never takes attendance. Two tests and a final, in addition to an 8 pg term paper. Be sure to go 2 class the day before the test for his review, and bring your book and a highlighter! He goes page by page telling you exactly what is going to be on the test. You don't even need 2 go 2 class. Definitely take this class!
he's the best teacher. he's so cool. a class worth showing up to.
very good teacher, he is very entertaining, and very helpful. coveres everything you need to know, doesn`t like to go over useless information.
Great teacher, extremely knowledgable. Is able to tie in recent topics, always knows what's going on in the news. Very lax on attendance but i went almost everyday. Tests were all essay/short answer. Gives reviews before exams of exactly what you can expect. One term paper due and optional extra credit for reading a book and doing a paper.
Awesome teacher, tries to make class fun and entertaining, very knowledgeable, tells you whats going to be on the test, gives extra-credit.. awesome awesome awesome awesome!
Farcau rocks!!!
Boring! This class was murder to go to every MWF! He knows his stuff and ties it in to current issues, but he is so boring. I feel like I have left this class learning nothing.
The course is Diplomacy, but he likes to teach history instead. One class he said he doesn't even believe in Diplomacy. He likes to spend the first 15 minutes of class talking about his conservative views on everything.Very dry lecture, and not very fluid.Others seemed to like him, but he was very arrogant, told us one day we'd realize he was right.
Wow, I walked into this class hoping to learn a lot, but I was let down. Dr. Farcau spends most of the class discussing current events. I feel like I completely wasted my time. His tests were awful and consisted of 600 word essays... Ridiculous! He is very biased so make sure your research paper and essay questions lean to the right..
Class on VietNam and I am a VietNam Vet, I really expected to chunk him up; I do most of my so called profs in this area. But being an INR class on the history of the govts envolved he did a real good job, knows what he is talking about. The complaints about tests - anyone can guess muliple choice, u need 2 know the subj for essay.
by far the best professor i had at UCF. knows what he is talking about and i learned alot from his class. yes his tests are essays...but as long as you take the notes youll get an A on them..you dont need the books so dont waste your money
I'll make this short............An easy A
He is so funny and makes this class interesting. The tests are not hard and he tells you exactly whats going to be on them. theres an 8 pg paper but thats do-able. he has awesome stories and makes hilarious songs about the topics we are discussing. i highly recomend him especially if you arent a political science major cuz he makes it interesting!
Class is awsome. he talks about current events, and cracks jokes about things. His test are essay- one roughtly 600 words, and 4 questions that you can answer in a sentance. He tells you practically exactly whats on the test the class before. He really knows whats going on.
He is an amazing teacher! Makes really boring govt bearable by making jokes and being funny. The class is easy but you actually learn at the same time. TAKE HIM!
Absolutely great professor. It's refreshing to have a professor teach international relations who isn't a left wing int'l law idealist. If you are a diehard lefty, he will bring you to school. So if you don't like the other side then this class isn't for you. If you don't care, as long as you listen/take notes in class you will do fine.
A very easy class. He was a pretty good teacher, but I didn't really learn a whole lot. If you have to take this class, take it with him.
Easy class. I barely attended and still managed to pull an A. He is extremely useful, clear, and approachable. I had to read the textbook due to the fact that i never attended, but if u go to class u shouldn't even buy the book. Great professor.
This guy is REALLY knowledgeable and helpful. You don't need the book at all. His teaching style makes you actually learn the subject. The tests are extremely fair and he is really funny in class.
He was a good teacher and the class is pretty easy.
AWESOME professor. I don't agree with this "conservative" mess someone commented below, he states his views and I was in no way offended or felt he was shoving his views in my face. GREAT teacher, had him for 2 classes. 4 grades, 3 essay tests and a paper that you choose the topic. Tests on EXACTLY what he lectures and reviews before exams.
Taking detailed notes on every lecture earned me an A so far. Sometimes he can go off on tangents but it appears as though he tests from his lectures. His conservative slant on the material isn't bothersome b/c he backs it up with evidence. His obvious interest in what he teaches makes it more bearable to endure if it's not something you're into
only lectures verbally, but tells you exactly what to study for the test
Great Professor
Great teacher! keeps class interest and he's really funny
He is a great teacher. His notes in class are kinda pointless cause he goes through everything that is on the test the class before. He keeps you interested though and is very good at teaching. I had no interest in this class before but I have learned a lot from it. I recommend him to all my friends. Great singer too!
Ridiculously good looking and knowledgable too!!!! I highly recommend him!
Great teacher! He's really funny and keeps the topic interesting plus the tests aren't hard as long as you pay attention to what he says will be on the test.
Funny guy, but the class leans so far to the right you might feel like you're about to fall over (take that as you will). Tests were fairly easy as long as you can write a decent amount and listen a little bit.
Wonderful! Very knowledgable and entertaining. Makes you want to go to class. You don't actually have to read or take notes as long as you attend the last class to get the review and study from that. He basically gives you the test in the review. This is my second class with him and his class structor is the same.
Best Teacher at UCF! ive taken him for four classes and enrolled in another. Very smart guy knows his stuff because he's lived it. Don't really have to read just show up and listen, tests are straight forward and gives you all the information the day before.
Dr. Farcau is the best! He's soooo funny. Take POS 2041 with him if you want an easy GEN ED. Although it was easy, I learned a lot and his perspective was very refreshing in comparison to the other profs at UCF!!!
His sense of humor is awesome, he made it worthwhile to come to class! Plus, his test reviews are the best, he goes over everything that is on the test, both multiple choice and essay questions. He even gives a good extra credit opportunity if you need it. Not only is this an easy GenEd class, but you actually come out having learned a lot.
He's cool and funny, but be sure to fact check his take on current events, because wherever he gets his news from doesn't care about little things like "facts" or "truth". Some conservative views are good, I liked hearing the other side, but some of what he said was just flat incorrect, and he says it with authority that many will believe.
Ok honestly... you don't EVER have to go to class. You'll NEVER use the book so don't buy it!!! Just go to class the day before the exam, ask him to give you a takehome test (I did that all 4 times!) do them at home using online resources and you're set! Easy class... EASY A!!!
he is by far the best teacher I've had at UCF. Going to class does not seem like such a task instead you kind of keep coming back just to hear what he has to say and it doesn't hurt that he is really funny too. I've had him for four or five different classes now and if I could I would have him for many more. He is worth taking.
Farcau does not have a strict attendence policy at all. three tests handwritten 500 word essay and a few short answers..gives extra credit and take homes if you cant make it to the test...all in all a good class to take if you have a heavy load for the semester
great professor! definitely recommend him. his lectures are very clear, and is pretty humorous at times. tests are essay questions. study and keep up with current events and you will be fine.
SUPER HOT (a little hotter than Brad Pitt ;-P ) I recommend professor Farcau. He is awesome; I personally struggled a little on the exams. I enjoyed his humor.
Dr. Farcau is, by far, one of the best professors I've had in college. He adds a little humor to his lectures to keep the class interesting and is more than helpful if you don't understand something. Attendance isn't mandatory. However, he has been known to give extra credit for showing up when the majority decide to skip. Walked away with a B.
very interesting upper level class....easy A as long as u go to class and take notes.
As I've tried to comment before, Bruce Farcau single handedly repulsed the Tet Offensive slaying over 32,000 NLF and PAVN troops with his bare hands. This fact is indisputable. Perhaps if you would have read the assigned text and paid attention during class you wouldn't feel the need to flag this comment. THE MAN IS A HERO AND NATIONAL TREASURE.
Dr. Farcau is a great teacher; he really knows what he is talking about when it comes to Diplomacy and International Relations. He is a 20 year veteran of the State Department (I think he was CIA though..) If you don't get an A in his classes your a slacker and shouldn't even go to college- your wasting everyone's time and money....
Farcau rocks. You dont have to read the book at all. He gives you everything you need to know the review before the test. go on google, find out some more information for clarity and then write about it on the test. 3 tests 1 paper. He does look for key things in your test answers that he only talks about in class.
Really great professor and I learned a whole lot.
Bruce Farcau is batman! He is the best teacher i had a UCF. His intellect is only rivaled by his excellent figure and looks. Definitely take him, even if you dont need the class.
By far the best class I have taken at UCF.He dosent take attendance but I went every day. Im a Poly. Sci. major because of teachers like this.
go to class, "text" book wasn't really a text book and can be hard to study for a test with. lectures are interesting/engaging. make sure to include why things happened not just what happened in tests (wants you to analyze), which are all essay tests.
Dr. Farcau is fantastic! Had no interest in Diplomacy class prior to signing up, but after this semester I love it! I learned SO much from him. He is well educated, extremely intelligent, and super funny! I attended all classes even though it wasn't mandatory and learned more than I have with other professors!
Great professor, is very conservative so if you are on the left side of the political spectrum you may not want to take him. There are two tests which are short answer and essay; and a 5 page paper due near the end of the semester. His lectures are very entertaining and he has a good sense of humor.
Great teacher. Very knowledgable. He's incredibly intelligent (comes across that way, at least) so I felt sort of privileged to listen to his lecture, though attendance is not mandatory in the least bit and the class was generally empty. I learned alot. Tests had a take home option. Final exam was take home. Lecture was engaging. I recommend him.
Very interesting topic blending modern history and political theory. This guy is smart, funny, and my only complaint is that the class seemed too short sometimes. Taking him again next semester, but for a lower level class that I should have taken first. Three written exams (option for take home written essay) and 8-10 page term paper.
AMAZING professor! Farcau is extremely intelligent and experienced in his field of politics - he will bring up personal stories of working for US govmt during lecture. He is very saracastic, funny, & keeps ur interest. Does a wonderful job communicating the material. In Diplomacy he always offers takehome or inclass tests which is nice.
Great, funny, and interesting. Knows his stuff, very clear about what he expects from you. Very intelligent and again, fun! Made what could have been a mundane class very interesting to go to!
He's a wonderful professor and knowledgeable about the subject he teaches. Read the chapters, come to class and take good notes, and you'll be sure to get A's on the tests. The paper is fun and you'll learn a lot while doing it. Try to do it on a figure on the Cold War, since the research for the paper will also help you on your final.
Three Letters.... D.I.C... (Dude Is Cool)You'll learn a whole lot, but if your a moderate or slightly liberal, you might want to do your own research, because he's SUPER CONSERVATIVE. Although a bit lengthy, your Research Paper will teach you a WHOLE lot. 3 test, 4 short answers, and a 500-word essay... Pretty easy, especially with this helpful pro
Professor Farcau is awesome! Going to his class three days a week was an enjoyable experience. He is extremely knowledgeable regarding the Vietnam War era. Go to class, take good notes, and study the review that he gives you before each exam, and you will be fine! Can't wait to take another one of his classes!
Worked for the State Department so he ACUALLY knows his stuff, unlike most professors. He is extremly intelligent and funny. Come to class if you want to get an A ( I did and got an A). And do the in class exams. And coming class knowing current events..-CJ :)
The best professor I've had at UCF. Was extremely knowledgable and kept my interest like no other. Taking him again next semester.
I think he deserves a chili pepper! Dr. Farcau is a great professor. Do the take home exams! ! ! ! Great and enjoyable class. I am taking more classes with him.
Awesome professor, no attendance/busy work, interesting lectures. Some humor to keep you awake, great class overall, I have one more class he offers left and I'm looking forward to it.
Awesome teachers who actually knows what he is doing. Mainly because this was actually his job at one point. He knows his**** and will make sure you know yours also! Take this professor
Dr. Farcau is an amazing prof!!!
He's the funny version of John Bolton.I'd expect FOX news to spread ignorance not a uni. prof. He's very biased and his way of discrediting every country or person is not what this country needs to deal with its foreign affiars. When you respect others, they respect u.Not when you bully them around and try to "help" them when theyre not asking for it
Excellent sense of humour. Farcau is a true scholar and diplomat. However, his neocon views can be disconcerting. Just try to parse the relevant and important information and ignore the ideological rants.
Perhaps the only teacher that can coax me out of bed in the morning. I love going to his class!
I'm sure the person below me is in my class and i get what he/she's saying, but if u don't mind filtering out personal views, Farcau's fine. Much more conservative than I am, but funny if u appreciate humor. If u take yourself too seriously, keep out. 2 options for tests so you play to your strengths. He is a knowledgable guy whos not out to get u.
I hate this class so much. He doesn't teach, he simply complains about everything & talks about why the U.S. is better. I think he's brainwashed from working in the government for so long. Annoyingly conservative & makes it obvious..tried to say that renditioning was just made up in movies..I WILL NEVER TAKE HIM AGAIN.
PROFESSOR IVE HAD! Seriously his class is super easy just come to class listen to his awesome lectures and take his tests. Hes extremely fair and helpful, and makes you actually want to come to his class. Unless your a complete idiot or lazy you cant not get an A, especially since you can choose take home tests. Only Commies can hate him.
This prof is hard core conservative and his lectures are all right. If you like diplomacy, go for it. Tests and research paper are evil. Gotta read everything and try to attend class. Very hard grader. He sucks at helping people and is very rude at times. I suggest going to lectures and never take him at 9:30 AM. I hated this class with passion.
This prof. tends to pass his judgement on students based on their attendence. It may become a conflict of interest if you get on his bad side. He is very rude if you disrespect any of his policies such as his not-required attendence policy. Good lectures, bad attitude. judege for yourself.
To get a good grade in this class write down everything he says, when the review day comes and he says topics write them down. Go thru your notes and put everything about the topics he stated in an outline format then memorize and spit it out on the test. For the essay analyze and youll get an A. had him 4 times, aced every class. 3 tests, 1 essay
He is a breeze.
If you hold very liberal views and cannot stand to hear an opposing agruement then this class isnt for you. For everyone else, this class is a breeze. Ignore the text and listen to his lecture. You should have no issues getting an A.
Very easy. Go to class listen to his lectures and take notes. The important points from his lectures appear on the test. If that is to hard then just go the day before each exam, he gives a very detailed review. He also gives extra credit. If you are very liberal and cant handle a conservative point of view, then maybe you should not take him.
When I first took dr. farcau class I had just switched my major to political science. After one week of taking his class, I knew I had mad the right choice. Great professor. I plan to finish all my INR classes with him.
When I first took dr. farcau class I had just switched my major to political science. After one week of taking his class, I knew I had made the right choice. I plan to finish all my INR classes with him.
Favorite Professor by far. Lectures are funny and typically interesting and his tests are by no means difficult. Term paper is not hard either. If you are conservative you'll love his class and if you are a liberal that can take a joke then you'll like it too.
The best professor I have ever had. He is incredibly well-traveled, worldly and knowledgeable without being pompous about it. I recommend him no matter what major you are. He is truly a bad ass.
An amazing teacher. If you attend class regularly and listen well, no textbook is needed. He's entertaining and highly opinionated.
My favorite professor. I have taken multiple classes with him and plan on taking more. He is very knowledgeable and actually has some first-hand experience in the stuff he teaches and offers great insight. Very funny and keeps his lectures entertaining. Very straightforward about expectations and tests, papers, etc. are not extremely difficult.
Farcau isn't bad, I got an A. Don't buy the book, you won't use it. Do the in-class & not the take home tests b/c he grades those harsher. He will tell u the essay & short answer topics so do research beforehand for tests. Do the research paper on a figure from the Cold War b/c it'll help for the final and do xtra credit, it helps a lot.
I really enjoyed his class! It's all lecture but he makes class interesting with funny stories. It's not hard to follow along and pay attention.
If you fail his class your are just dumb. His lectures are funny, detailed, and interesting and the only thing you need. You dont feel like your doing work but learning. Tests are easy he tells you the questions a day before, so you literally cant fail. Take as many classes with him as possible.
Farcau is by far my favorite professor at UCF.He is down to earth, brilliant, and experienced. He conducts his class in a very casual manner however I have learned more from him than any prof since I started UCF 3yrs ago.The first time I took his class I knew I was studying the perfect major for me, I have taken him every semester since&will keep on
Strat Weapons was quite easy. There are 3 tests and a 10 page (double space, footnoted) paper, then a 20 point EC book report that's optional. He's a funny guy and the lectures were quite interesting. One of his best quotes was: "I don't want you talking on your phone in class, just take it outside, I know the pot won't deliver itself"
Took him for 6 classes. Hands down my fav and the best prof at UCF. It doesn't feel like work at all but you learn so much. Its a simple lecture format, take your own notes. The man literally knows everything. Hilarious, conservative but with facts. I switched my whole major around just to take him. Do the work and you'll be fine
Maybe I'm crazy but I really didn't like Dr. Farcau's teaching method. I think he's very intelligent but very arrogant. He only teaches on MWF's and spends half of each class time discussing current events. Hard to motivate oneself to attend class for 25 minutes worth of lecture and no other MWF classes! Absolutely awful with responding to e-mails.
His rightist politics are infuriating sometimes, but I can't help liking him! He's funny, he has three reasonable tests, a 10-page paper, and offers lots of extra credit. First half of each class is usually him musing about current events. His stories and experiences (AS AN OPPRESSOR OF THE WORKERS OF LATIN AMERICA) are interesting. Kinda rambles.
He is well traveled, intelligent, a good lecturer, and relatively easy. That said, he is most definitely conservatively biased and not particularly politically correct about it. He is also hopelessly stuck in a cold war mentality which might bother some. I personally would avoid him if i had the choice, but then again, i am a liberal.
Best poly sci professor at UCF.
Really enjoy this class, he is a proffesor with real life experience rather than spending his whole life in a classroom. So wha t if he is right leaning its a good change of pace than taking all left professors.
This professor is good but you will work... He has 3 tests and a 10 page paper... Doesn't sound bad but if u don't regurgitate exactly why he wants on his tests, then it's pretty hard to get an A... You'll be close though.
Really easy overall, interesting and funny lectures, very right wing and conservative, so interesting if you keep your mind open (because he doesnt). 3 tests and extra credit book report and a ten page report on pretty much whatever the heck you want. Overall a very enjoyable class
So biased, it's unreal. Very into HIS opinion and no one else's. Class lectures were very boring in my opinion. Did use the book for papers and tests but when I used terms and definitions straight from the book he would question them. Probably will not take his class again.
Had Farcau for virtually all of his upper-level classes. He is a great professor, very knowledgeable and nice. He is conservative though, and sometimes his humor can run amok. His classes are based on 3 essay exams and 1 8-page term paper. Don't bother buying the textbooks, you'll never use them. Just go to class and take good notes and your set.
Professor Farcau may be one of the worst professors I have ever taken, His grading policy is completely ridiculous. He's not hard, but he grades papers very randomly Everyone I know got low B's on every paper they turned in no matter what. I tried to take the in class got ALL the questions correct and got a C! Strongly dont recommend!
I've taken all of Dr Farcau's upper division courses and have to say that he is the clearest and most informative I've seen yet. Students that have a problem with his grading don't understand that in Intl Rel. the question is WHY do things happen, not WHAT happened. answer the questions and you'll get an A, I have in all of the classes.
He is not a bad professor but teaches his opinions and claims them as fact. Is very smart and you will learn quite abit in his class but understand that a lot of what he teaches are his opinions.
To start, I'm a very outspoken liberal. And yes, Dr. Farcau is quite conservative. Nevertheless, I loved his class. He is very helpful and his lectures are clear and interesting. One thing: take his in-class tests! He grades them more leniently and you can get them over with faster. Definitely take a Farcau class, even if you're a lib! :)
simply amazing and just overall very knowledgeable and friendly, he may seem to be a little intimidating but he is not, he is just one of those professors that i've taken all of his classes and i'm super super satisfied with him, i would really wished some of the other professors would learn from him and his style of teachings
Keeps class interesting. Gets a little preachy. Tough grader. Love Regan. Hates JFK. Has excellent stories.
Professor Farcua is a smart man, but he is incredibly biased and not a very fair grader. I think it is easy to get a B in his class, but for an A, you'll have to write your essays that support his opinions. Doesn't really teach so much as he preaches.
Farcau is a great guy, but he's very very conservative and biased If you actually talk to him, he's really easy going and funny. 3 essay tests, and an 8 page paper. He's not an easy grader, but if you take notes word for word, (his words) and regurgitate them onto the written tests then you'll do fine. Not by any means an easy class, but worth it.
Little right winged, but not bad. Take notes it will help you when it comes to your take home tests. 8 page paper that is easy and you can turn it in late if you need to, I did and he still gave me a B. DONT BUY THE BOOK!!
Dr. Farcau is a good professor. He does not sugar coat anything and is very opinionated. There were 3 tests and a term paper with an 8 page minimum. Do the take home tests! Attend lecture because his tests are solely based on what he says in class. Highly recommend if you are interested in political science!
You can get away with not going to class if you have the book, but he won't let you BS your way through the assignments.
3 tests and a research paper each worth 25% of grade. Can get away with not going to class if you have a book to do the take home tests. Grades research paper pretty easily and fairly. Lecture is boring most of the time but Professor Farcau has moments where he is very funny and entertaining
Dr. Farcau was such a great professor! This class was the one I was most nervous about and this was the class I got the highest grade in. He's very lenient with certain things. 3 tests (either in class or take home essays), a 8-10 page term paper and an extra credit opportunity. Overall, excellent professor. I recommend his class 100%.
Dr. Farcau is a very knowledgeable individual who despite his realistic global perception, knows how to tell stories with significant humor. He is clear on what he expects from us: 3 in-class essay tests or 3 take-home essay tests and 1 research paper on the diplomatic career of an international figure. If you put your effort, an A is guaranteed.
Took every class I possibly could with him. He is AWESOME!
I took him for 4030 and for 4084. Easy class but do not take the course for a joke. 3 exams- your choice to do a take home (grades harder) or in class (easy if you write word for word what he says). then a 10 extra credit assignment. I purchased book, waste of money for the class but it was a good read.
If you cannot learn from lectures then do not take. Insightful satirical humor but a lil monotone. Readings are helpful, but lectures are more important and what tests are based off of. Optional extra credit report. 3 tests of your choice: choose 2 of 3 essay prompts for take home (grades a lil tougher) OR in class multiple choice with short answer
Teaches from lectures and the occasional film or video. Lectures are far more important than the readings so go to class and take notes. Dr. Farcau does not care if you show up to class or not, he always teaches and is willing to help. 3 Tests: Take home essays choice of 2 of 3 prompts or in class multiple choice with short essay.
This class is easy to pass. 3 tests and a term paper make up your grade, final isn't cumulative. Farcau has a great sense of humor and makes class worth showing up. Attendance definitely isn't mandatory and pretty easy to pass without showing up (though lectures are pretty helpful). Good guy for this class, he wants you to pass.
Dr. F is will definitely not be at the DNC anytime soon. He is a great professor, though. This course was very easy and you do actually learn a thing or two.
Farcau is my favorite professor and has been since the first class I took with him my freshman year, I have just concluded my 5th class with him. He is understanding, cool, extremely intelligent, he stands in the front of class and speaks as if it's one big story. He makes comical sarcastic jokes when comparing things to help you better understand
So easy! And he's hilarious.
Dr. Farcau is an awesome professor. He doesn't hesitate to make crude jokes, and he knows this subject well. He has a conservative slant, but it is easy to filter through in order to get what is necessary to learn. If you do the paper ahead of time, it is an easy A to get. I highly recommend him!
He uses 4 25% papers for grading. 3 are 2 SHORT essay tests that you can take home for a week, or do 1 essay in class w multiple choice , and 1 is a 8-10 page term paper. LOVED his lectures! You didn't have to go to class, but I always wanted to. Very funny guy with a lot of experience under his belt. I only used the book for tests sometimes.
He usually cuts class early and is a very laid back guy with lots of jokes about politics. My one suggestion would be to take his in-class tests because he grades those easier.
Farcau is really interesting as a professor, he seems to know everything about everything and has an anecdote for everything. It's a pretty easy class, you have to take your own notes because he only lectures aloud. He goes over everything that will be on the test in detail so as long as you take good notes the textbook is hardly neccessary.
I can't express enough how important it is to go to class and write down everything you possibly can in his lectures. Sure the text book will help a bunch, but when you're writing up your tests, you'll only get As if you fill in tests with things from his lectures.
Dr. Farcau is definitely one of my influences on the field of International Relations and Comparative Politics. I am not as realist as he is but I really enjoyed taking his course on Diplomacy. His tests are hard but you have the option of take-home tests. I would however recommend you to take them in class.
GO TO CLASS AND TALK ABOUT CURRENT EVENTS. The first test i wrote a beautiful essay and got 1925. The second test i made sure he knew i was actively engaged and on second test i wrote a mediocre essay and got 25. COINCIDENCE I THINK NOT! He's funny. Honestly for an A, LISTEN TO HIS REVIEWS CAREFULLY. The test are his lectures. And its easy stuff.
I took this class as a GED and while it has been easy I wouldn't say it was exciting. He offers all tests in a take home version (due a week later) so I would highly recommend buying the book. Test Reviews are great, he outlines each chapter and the pages you need to know. Get ready for an 8pg min term paper at the end!
3 tests or optional written take home tests. you need the book for both versions. only lectures no powerpoints. one paper (8pages) on any governmental topic. received an 100% on the paper (okay writer). extra credit offered. barely went to class. funny professor take him !!
Dr Farcau is super funny, he is constantly cracking jokes and he seems to have a good understanding of college students and how they work, despite being older. He has a lot of experience working for the government and the military which makes his lectures even better. He is a bit of a tough grader on papers so don't just BS them and turn them in.
Dr Farcau is super funny, he is constantly cracking jokes and he seems to have a good understanding of college students and how they work, despite being older. He has a lot of experience working for the government and the military which makes his lectures even better. He seems like a tough grader on papers so don't just BS them and turn them in.
Definitely the funniest professor i've had. He usually ends class early. Gives good reviews for his exams, or you can do a take home exam instead. 3 exams and an 8 page paper (I started the day before and got a 90, just saying). If you need to take government, take him.
This man is one of the best profs I've had. He knows immense amounts of information about Diplomacy (among other subjects) and you will come away from the class knowing so much. Always write MORE than he asks for on testspapers; you will get a better grade. Don't slack off, and DO come to class-he's hilarious and sarcastic and makes class fun.
He went on long tangents a lot, though somewhat relevant to material. I barely went to class and just read the book for the take home tests, which are not hard. It's not hard if you put some time into it. I did my term paper in about 3 days and got an A so definitely not too hard.
Farcau is a great teacher who is very knowledgable about politics and government. His class was interesting and wasn't a pain to go to. I only took the take home tests and received A's and one B. Overall an easy class and the take home tests are easy if you go by the book and check out reliable sources. TAKE HIM if you need this credit.
I'm guilty of not attending his classes much, but only because I'm really not interesting in the subject. Other than that, he's very knowledgeable about his stuff and uses his experiences as lessons. His stories are hilarious and overall, most of his lectures would leave you laughing. Take home tests were a great option too!
This is the best professor I have had at UCF. He is extremely smart and his lectures are hilarious. Its important to go to class because when you write essays he wants you to write about his perception of history, not wikipedias. But his perception of history is better.
If you show up every day and legitimately pay attention, the class is wonderful and you can easily get an A on the in-class test. Take home tests are available (no excuse required) but they are 2, 300 word essays and graded harder. In class test is basically everything he writes on the board (not much at all. 1-3 thingsday). Bonus on in-class too.
Great professor. Really smart about the topic he was teaching.
He's arguably the easiest professor I've had so far. His lectures are funny, he gives no homework and he gives you a take-home option for the tests.
There were only 3 tests. He gave us the option to do a take-home essay test (2 essays from a few topics) due a 1-2 weeks later, or do an in-class MC test with one short essay. I always chose the essays and did well. There was a research paper too, which wasn't too bad. His lectures mostly tell you what you need to know.
this class was easy. the only difficult aspect is the fact that 3 test and a paper are your grade. However, hes hilarious and his reviews are extremely good. The test are super easy. (My Gov. class in HS was harder...) i only did the in class tests cause im not a good essay writer but if you actively engage in class he gives you 25/25 on essays.
Lectures aren't mandatory, in fact if you buy the book and show up for tests (or even opt for the take home version) you'll pass. However, I will say he's a bit ridiculous when it comes to grading the take home tests. He won't give any sort of feedback on where you went wrong or how to improve.. he literally wrote "no" next to what he didn't like..
I AM THE PICKIEST STUDENT SO TRUST MY RATING: So I'm bad at history & a pre-med major so gov't wasn't my first priority. But I got an A in Dr. Farcau's class! He's funny during lectures, has 3-4 exams and you have an option of a take home or in class. DO THE TAKE HOME! Also you have one 8 pg paper but you have all semester!! TAKE HIM!
This professor is 100% incapable of keeping his presentation of the course material objective. His class is not unlike a weekly front-row seat at the RNC. To his credit, he doesn't mandate attendance and his test format is favorable -- students have a choice of either an in-class or take-home.
Farcau was a great prof! He was very helpful whenever anything needed to be explained. His lectures were clear. Attendance isn't mandatory, as long as you're there for the review the class before the test. But if you don't attend, you have to read the material. Tests were straightfoward with one essay and extra credit. All around easy class.
Take at least one class with him. All tests are take home and only one long report due and as long as you pick a good person to do it on, its super easy. His lectures are not mandatory but they are all awesome. Use a lot of terms in your tests and paper and you will probably get an A. To get those terms, attend class. The people who fail do not.
Professor Farcau is one of the most hilarious, insightful, and engaging professors I've had at my time in college. He is extremely intelligent and loves the topic that he is teaching. Get ready to write a lot, however. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!! Would take again 10/10
Farcau doesn't have many grades. 3 exams, either take home (graded harder) or in class option (multiple choice) and a term paper. I recommend doing take home, but do above and beyond if you want an A in his class, doing the minimum or slightly above that will result in a B. I finished with an 89. There's one extra credit assignment, do it!
Farcau is the man. Will be taking again for other courses. Offers option of take home test instead of in class - says will grade a lot harder but it's definitely possible to get an A. Reading textbooks help a lot with essays. Do the extra credit! And ask him about his experiences, his lectures are hilarious but he has even more stories to tell
There is a 8 or 9 page term paper towards the last half of the semester. There are only 3 or 4 tests throughout the class and all of them have a take home option which is grader a little harder than the in class test. He is really funny and explains things in a way young adults will understand clearly. Amazing teacher!
The only grades are an 8 page research paper on any topic in government, 3 multiple choice exams w/ 1 short answer and an optional book report for 10 pts extra credit. Theres a take home option for the exams, but it is graded tougher. He made the lectures funny and interesting. Its an overall easy grade, take him if you can!
Farcau is bae. Loved his class. If you're interested in politics, he has a lot to share with you. He relates back to his own experiences which makes the time go by quickly and keeps you interested. Show up to class, take notes and you will pass easily. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Dr. Farcau is funny but sometimes a tiny bit offensive. His tests always freaked me out because I wasn't sure if I studied enough/the right way, but always did well. He offers a take home test w essay questions if you can't take in class/don't want to. One term paper that's very open ended. Ask him way ahead of time if you have questions on topics!
Dr. Farcau was hilarious and know so much about politics. If you enjoy politics, you will enjoy his class. I've always been weak on this subject, but he taught me so much that I ended up loving it. It's not an easy A, but if you work hard, it's possible! Do the extra credit, it can make a difference in a letter grade. Ask him, he's there to help.
During the course of the semester we did not have any homework, the tests were take home, and then we ended with a term paper which was loosely structured making it easy to chose a topic that was personally interesting and wasn't hard to write about.
great teacher! tests are take home but graded harder unless u want to take in class. a simple open minded research paper to wrap it all up-- and you're done! easy A! he is an awesome teacher too!
While the subject matter is interesting, the format of this class sucks. He doesn't know how to engage students. Barely any slides, just him talking and it's so dry and boring. I see kids fall asleep all the time in this class. Only 4 tests and an 8 page paper. I found these hard to do because the class was so boring I didn't learn much in class.
The class is made up of three tests and one paper, each worth 25% and he always reminds you of that. He also offers two different kinds of tests, both in class (25 multiple choice and one 250 word essay) and take home (two 500 word essays). His lectures are also really great he is really funny. Would recommend.
Hilarious teacher. He only grades on three tests and a term paper. HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOING THE TAKE HOME TESTS!!! Take home tests consist of three writing prompts, in which you pick two to write papers on. He grades hard, stick to facts in your paper. Use the book on your papers. Also, do the extra credit!! It helps.
Amazing Professor! Really funny and interesting lectures infused with personal experience. He begins his lectures with a brief discussion of current events. There are 3 tests (non-cumulative) and one 8 page term paper, each assignment is worth 25% of your grade. Don't procrastinate and this class is easy, and you will learn a lot about government.
Take this class!!!! Dr. Faracau is hilarious, kind, and well versed in knowledge. One thing i must say is do not take his class if you are against republican opinions bc he is very outspoken! Nonetheless, gives options for take home or in class tests and one "big" essay that he grades fairly based on what you write and what he asked for!
He is ENTIRELY lecture based, no slides but he knows his stuff to an amazing extent. Hilarious man who I will be taking again next Spring, there are 4 assignments total, 3 tests and a term paper, all tests come with option of a take home version. Easy class, even to a procrastinator like me. Get the books if you skip class, they help tremendously.
Dr. Farcau is great! His class is very interesting, and it is obvious he has a vast knowledge of politics. While attendance is not mandatory, his lectures are very interesting and you can learn a lot from them. He always makes sure to remind his class about due dates and test dates.
Best political science professor at UCF! TAKE HIM! I am excited to take his class again in the Fall!
Great professor! Gives the option of taking an in class or take home version of the test. I recommend the in class unless you're good at writing papers. Term paper is killer but you can write on any topic involving government that interests you.
I loved taking this class! Three very easy tests if you study, and one semester paper. His lectures are always so entertaining and I actually learned a lot from this class!
Super easy! Highly recommend doing the extra credit assignment and the take- home tests. Didn't use the textbook, just use the internet. Barely showed up to class. Responds to emails within a fair timespan. Term paper was easy, as long as you put a little effort in it. Great funny professor! One of the best at UCF! :)
Professor Farcau was amazing professor. He always gave amazing lectures in ways to help us learn and understand. He didn't take attendance like most professors. We have 3 tests and a final research paper which weighted most of our final grade. We was given an extra credit option. Overall, the class was easy enough to pass.
The grade consisted of 3 take home essays and a research paper, all worth 25% of your grade. There's 1 extra credit paper. There was no final. I did all take home essays where the grade improved overtime. I never missed a class and used the lecture, textbook, and web for take home essays. He is very veer right, so bask in the Republican viewpoints.
Prof Farcau was my fav professor this past spring semester! He was class was simple, 3 test and 1 paper. Each counts for 25% of your grade. You have the option to do the take home version of the test or the in class. The in class is graded more lax, thus being easier. But having the two options are nice. An extra paper is offered. Simple class. s
this class was pretty easy, I took him for diplomacy and I passed with a good grade .you get to take 3 take home tests and you have a paper at the end for extra points, overall he explains pretty good but can get off topic easily, which was hard to tale notes but overall its an easy class to pass
Wonderful professor, very intelligent, relies heavy on lectures but there are only 3 tests and one paper. Each 25%. With take home exams. Make sure if you take him to provide plenty of analysis in your essays. He does not want you to only prove you know the information, he wants to give your opinion on the information as well. Great guy.
Professor Farcau is a great lecturer. You learn a lot from his lectures even though he frames from a conservative point. He tells a ton of funny anecdotes, namely one in Bolivia with his donuts. The book is easy to read and the professor explains everything you'll need for the test in the lecture. The tests are hard and ambiguous.
Never went to class ended up passing. No homework at all, only a couple tests. Old fashioned, you can either do a take home test or take it in class. Take Home test's are fairly easy and straightforward but are essay based only. Grades tougher on you if you do not go to class, he notices, but he doesn't count attendance :)
Russian politics is a cool course. Prof Farcau relies heavily on lecture. He just sits down and talks for 50 mins. 3 test (option of either in class or take home) and an 8 page term paper is what the course consist of. You must good at analysis to get good grades in this course so be aware. Overall, solid course and cool teacher.
3 tests (either inclass or take home) and a term paper. Prof Farcau wants a lot of analysis on the test and papers, and youll get an A if you provide it. Diplomacy wasnt that interesting to me but the prof made it interesting imo. Hes a cool and funny teacher and is always available to talk to before and after class + office hours.
Doesn't really use any other resources besides his in-class lectures and would often go off-topic in his lectures and I felt like I didn't learn anything. The internet will be your best friend, since half the stuff in exams wouldn't even be mentioned in his lectures. Extremely tough grader when it came to papers and wouldn't give feedback.
4 TEST (last one considered your final). Although his lectures are entertaining, attendance is not mandatory. I suggest going to class the day before the exam because he flips through the book and literally tells you what you need to study. Therefore, in my opinion, it's mandatory to have the book. Easy A if you try! THERE'S ALSO A TAKE HOME TESTS!
He is very funny, his humor is dry, but funny nonetheless. Attendance is not mandatory but because all the test material comes from the lectures if you miss class just be sure to get them from a peer. When taking exams the trick is to use both the lecture and your knowledge to display understanding, he is asking for your opinion, not the material.
Take him. He looks out for you in the end. Lecture was a bit boring for an upper-level course. Test are optional of take-home or in-class 3-4 of them, and an 8pg paper. Overall okay, a cool to listen to.
Awesome. This man has a lot of knowledge. Wish I could take him again.
Overall Farcau is a great teacher with a lot of in depth knowledge!!!! This class was great! Pure lecture no distributed material. MUST take notes! Thankfully I took this class and a student took notes via google docs and shared them with the class. There is a couple of papers and a option of a in class exam or a take home exam.
Farcaus class is great. He is knowledgeable about the subject and teaches from memory. The class starts every day by him asking if we have seen anything interesting in the news and we discuss that for about 15 minuets. Lectures are usually interesting and include humor. You can expect to get out 10-15 minuets early daily which is always a bonus.
Class is graded on 3 tests and an 8 page paper. Class can seem boring and sometimes he sidetracks. Attendance isn't necessary and can pass without going to class. Basic government class and it's pretty easy.
3 tests and a 8 page term paper, the test can be taken home but he is VERY specific in what he wants in those take home tests but you must figure that out on your own, he does not tell you (they are written responses). You didn't really need the textbook or to attend class, if you put the effort in to the class then you will get an A.
You have the option of an in-class test and a take home. I did the in-class test 1 and the rest take home including the final. He can be tough with the take home because he wants to see an analysis. Use examples in your writing. Do the extra credit and get started on the term paper asap. Trust me, you don't want to wait. He has his opinions.
Basically there are only 3 tests and one research paper, the 3 tests can either be take home essays or in class multiple choice tests, this may sound easy but he grades the take home essays very hard and gives close to no feedback why. Also does not use web courses at all so you have to use the syllabus to remember when stuff is due.
Dr. Farcau lectures all class, it's impressive that he can talk about 500+ years of diplomatic history without any references, but also quite dry. If you skip class, at least read the book. I recommend the take home exams, make sure you understand the concepts so you can analyze in your essays, don't just spit out a re-telling of history. Easy A
Farcau is an amazing professor. He was hilarious and clearly explained the topics so it was easy to understand. He gave out 3 tests and one big paper, but he grades everything so easy. There's take home options for every test and he even offers extra credit. Attendance isn't mandatory but I usually went because he's so funny.
I enjoyed taking this class with Dr. Farcau, he's very knowledgeable on the subjects he talks about. However, the class is determined by three tests and one term paper, each worth 25% of your grade. You can choose between take-home tests or taking it in class. Pay attention to the lectures, I would even suggest recording them, no powerpoints.
So Bruce Farcau is an amazing and interesting individual. The way I saw the class, you could choose to read, or come to lectures, and you would get all the info save some during the Nixon era near the end. You always have the option for a take home exam, so its an easy pass, and you'll actually learn a lot from doing these exam essays. Amazing prof
Prof. Farcau gives three exams and one term paper. Each exam has a take-home option. Write thoroughly and knowledge-dump all material you heard in class. I didn't go to class at all and pulled off a B, but an A would have been nearly guaranteed if I showed up regularly. He is a very interesting professor with an interesting course. Take him!
I'm so pleased! Easy A! You have the option of a take home test or in class! I always took the take home test! All you have to do is ask "WHY??". You'll pass You won't regret it! Class is optional!
3 take home tests, 1 paper. Fill as much information as you can. (Ctrl+v) get A. Lectures are foreign policy TEDtalks. i would Take all his classes. Good man.
3 take home test (two essays each abt 500 words) and a term paper on a topic of your choice. Attendance isn't mandatory unless you plan to take the in-class tests (25 questions and 1 essay question) then the info in class is helpful. Tough grader when it comes to the take-home tests. Interesting class discussions. Textbook is needed for essays.
I had a major issue where Farcau gave me the wrong final... yes. He gave me the wrong final. Had to go to the department chair to get it resolved but it got resolved. The class is easy, I sadly ever showed up except for when he passed out the take home tests. Don't buy the text books, they are a waste of money.
3 or 4 tests, all with the option to take home. Write a lot and then write more. Term paper. Attendance is not required, but if you (as I did) show up, listen, and take notes, you'll never have to crack open the book. I would pay to listen to him lecture for the rest of my life.
hes not that bad but never ever do the in class exam its tricky. he talks the whole time and tells a few jokes. if you attend class you don't need the book. if you like to skip class get the book.
Professor Farcau is an interesting professor. He reviews what'll be on the test the class before but other than those review days and the test days, you don't really have to show up for the class if you teach yourself by reading what's in the textbook. Be warned though: only 3 exams and a term paper so if you fail any one of those, you're screwed.
Lectures are enjoyable and the class is fairly easy. Only drawback is the professor's cringy neo-con politics.
Dr. Farcau doesn't bother to hide his political biases. That would be fine if he was also a clear or helpful grader, but his 'comments' on tests that he grades extremely harshly are enlightening things such as '?' and 'no'. He does offer extra credit, which I highly recommend doing.
only graded by three tests and term paper. graded the term paper pretty easy. he has an in-class and take home version of tests but he grades the take home tests super hard, so take the in-class ones. go to the review days before exams! lectures are super boring. overall a pretty good class.
3 noncumulative exams including the final - choose between in person multiple choice or take home essay. Extra credit paper optional, 1 mandatory term paper due towards the end of the semester. You don't need to go to class, but if you don't go then I would recommend getting the book (any edition works) to help with content. Pretty fair class/prof.
It's pretty impressive that he can lecture from the top of his head. He has an impressive knowledge of European diplomacy. Exams are graded toughly but an A is achievable. Write much more than is required. Definitely read the textbook and go to lecture. He does have a strong right-wing bias though and this comes through in lecture.
Professor Farcau is a hoot! I enjoyed his lectures, he's factual enough for you to learn the info but cynical enough to keep them entertaining. Only note of concern is that he only grades four items the entire semester (mostly essays or essay style tests) so don't slack off on those assignments.
If you don't go to lecture definitely get the textbook and then choose to do Farcau's take home tests. Going to class isn't necessary but helps and he offers extra credit. Straight forward class, especially if you're not super into history.
Literally three assignments- 3 papers (minimum 600 words) and one final paper (8 pages). No homework, quizzes or midterm. Terrible grading system for papers. Never have to go to class. Easy A, but the papers have no rubric, so it's a shot in the dark. I'm a good student but got a B since only 4 things in grade book.
There are only 4 assignments (3 of which are exams), but once you figure out which exam type is best for you the course is not too bad. He provides an in-class and a take-home version of each exam. The term paper is on the topic of your choice and is very simple. Intriguing and quality lecture that he starts with discussing current events.
He is a great professor and is very knowledgeable of his field. He hosts very helpful lectures and always includes personal anecdotes. His tests are more than fair and so is his grading. Easily one of my favorite professors ever! DEFINITELY take his class.
He doesn't have any powerpoints he only lectures off the top of his head. He has review days before tests but I scored the same on his in-class and take home test so it is really up to your preference. I thought the 8 page term paper was going to be harder than it was, but it turned out alright! don't let it deter you from taking this easy class.
I've taken four courses with Dr. Farcau and is one of the best professors at UCF. Lectures are really easy to follow and engaging, tells personal anecdotes about his time in the field. Class is based on a couple papers but you need to either use the information from the readings or from his lectures if you want an A.
Overall, Professor Farcau is a really great teacher. He starts his classes talking about current events and then goes into his lecture. In addition, he is more on the conservative side, so just be wary when deciding to take his class. Also, there are very few grades in his class, but the exams are definitely doable and the paper isn't bad.
Everyone gives him a bad rep because he is super sarcastic and dry, but really he knows what he is talking about. What he lacks in friendliness he makes up for in class fairness. He doesn't care about all the details of your paper, just wants to see you know what we are learning. Take home tests, pretty flexible. Lots of lectures. Not impossible!
Given the circumstances of 2020, he was pretty understanding. I was late with a couple of things and he let it slide. Tests are in essay forms. One term paper. Extra credit is a short paper. Super lenient grader.
I enjoyed professor Farcau. He has many pros - He is very knowledgeable and cares alot about the subjects he teaches. He also adds great touches to his lectures with his own interesting opinions and ideas. My only con about Farcau is that there are very few assignments, therefor you need to make sure you do assignments properly and on time.
Beware, he doesn't use the textbook, and he doesn't lecture from powerpoints. He does lecture off the top of his head, and although the info is in the lecture, sometimes it takes some work to decide what is important. Overall, the lectures are fun. He grades off of three essay tests and a term paper. His grading is content-based and fair.
Probably my favorite professor so far at UCF. His lectures are entertaining and he begins each class with current events and gives his opinions on them. Grade is decided by 3 take-home exams and 1 term paper (2800 words). He is a pretty fair grader and as long as you show up to class and do the work you should be okay.
Dr. Farcau is a great teacher, his lectures are informative but also very entertaining. His class is easy, only 3 take home essays where you have an entire week to work on them and the questions asked aren't difficult either. There's also an 8 page research paper but you have the entire semester to work on it. You can pass without even showing up.
3 written tests and a term paper due towards the end of the semester.
Absolutely LOVEEE dr. farcau. He is the funniest and most down to earth professor. Super understanding and I love his lectures. Only three tests that are take home, open note/internet, and you get to choose from multiple prompts. Term paper due near the end of the semester, you pick the topic and get all semester to work on it.
Class is based on 3 tests where you answer 2 questions in 500 words each and 1 8-page term paper. He's pretty chill but that term paper is probably the hardest part of the class since he just says to write about government and that's all the instruction he gives. He gives chances for late work and there is extra credit.
I dont understand why so many people rate him well. He only grades you on a select few things in the semester so if you dont do good on them youre kind of doomed. All essays and the only feedback he will give is one sentence. Thats it and not even a long sentence.
Dr. Farcau's class is extremely easy; three written exams and one term paper. That's it. Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended, same goes for textbook purchase. He just sits at the front of the class and talks. He has some interesting anecdotes and his lectures are easy to digest.
He is a good professor. He teaches by sitting down in a chair. He is old and doesn't speak loud. I would recomend to sit in the front of the class. He doesn't record his lectures or make powerpoints. There are only 3 tests and one term paper for the entire year all worth 25% of your grade. I would suggest to go to class and take notes.
Farcau is three things: old, conservative, and funny-ish? This class is not a diplomacy class, it's a European history class. If that's not your vibe, take someone else. Be ready to read Kissinger and write 4 papers that make up your whole grade. It's not a hard class per se, but annoying to attend lectures and learn nothing about diplomacy.
Do yourself a favor: take this class. This professor is absolutely hysterical!! His stories are great, always starts the class with current events as well. So cool, and honestly Am Gov is good to know anyways really explains everything so well. Go ahead and put a little effort into the term paper as well. You'll love it
Just do the reading and you'll pass easily. I literally went to class a total of 5 times the entire semester and passed with an A. All he does is regurgitate exactly what is written in the textbook and go on borderline offensive rants. Definitely a biased Republican. Only 4 grades and they're all essays. Not sure he even reads our papers.
Really great professor, loved the class. Hands down best professor at UCF. Very interesting lectures theres only 3 test and 1 term paper, dont let other comments from lazy people deter you from taking the best professor. I just wish he would incorporate a salsa routine in his lecture, but oh well.
Amazing. 10/10
Dr. Farcau is a really knowledgable and funny professor. I feel that people who give him low ratings are just over sensitive. 3 take home essay tests and 1 term paper. You can use any source for your tests, he doesn't care. He just wants you to answer the question. Never read the book and got A's on all the test & the paper. Definitely take him!
4 papers as you have read and that is the only grades. You are given multiple options on what you can write about. The term paper isn't as bad as you think, just start at least a week ahead of time and do a little day by day. Not the toughest grader either, so just do all the papers and you will be set.
I didn't use the textbook and got an A. Just take good notes. Prof is funny and very intelligent. Had good class conversations and the class wasn't memorization like other history classes. Great class.
Top 5 professor at UCF. Amazing guy, funny lectures and super engaging. Attendance is not mandatory but the tests are straight from the lectures. 4 Online papers make up your grade. NO book needed at all. Just show up, listen, take notes and submit good papers. 10/10 recommend.
Amazing professor. Makes diplomacy so easy, relatable and understandable. He is hilarious and if you seek his help or talk tp him, he will respond. He has so much experience and actually knows what he is teaching beyond a textbook. 4 papers, no book needed. Just show up to class, listen, take notes and you are basically guaranteed an A. 1000000/10
Mr.Farcau is chill and easygoing. His lectures are interesting but also not required for the exams. You have 3 or 4 exams that are open for a whole week.Choose two prompts from 5 choices and then write 500 words on each. Pretty easy. The only other assignment in this class was a term paper which is 8pages but very chill you have months to do it.
Not a bad professor, but not amazing. Lectures are super monotone, he is biased but he's funny. 3 take home test, and 1 term paper. His lectures are informative so take a lot of notes, also do your own research on the tests. Don't expect him to give in depth responses about where you went wrong, he won't.
Sit at the front of the class, he speaks very low. Even though attendance is not mandatory, he will know when grading your tests and will grade more harshly. So take good notes and go to class. Also, always write more than the minimum word count!!! If not, the chances of getting an A are very unlikely. Overall, nice funny prof and an easy class.
Very easy and informational class. The professor is clearly passionate about what he's teaching, though sometimes his lectures turned more into semi-unrelated topics. Still an interesting class, and there's only four assignments throughout the semester (three 1000 word tests that are open for a week and one 8 page paper). Definitely recommend!
An interesting professor with experience in the State Department. The first half of the semester was European history and the second half was 20th century diplomacy. Term paper and essays were relatively easy even though there was no rubric or guidelines. Lecture notes are better than only reading Kissinger
Pros: No required class attendance, no textbook Cons: Vague feedback on papers, frequently sick=less office hours, graded on only 4 equally weighted papers so you can't improve if you do poorly on 1. Doesn't really care about teaching, tries to be edgy with his personal views when in reality he's just your typical neocon boomer.
If you miss a class or fall behind on the assigned readings, the lectures are simply incomprehensible. He just doesn't introduce the topic in the beginning of class which complicates things even further. Exams aren't hard but I was looking to learn something and not just pass the class for the credit. If you wanna learn, this class isn't for you.
You don't need the book or to go to lectures, he talks straight from what is on his head and it can be hard to grasp everything he is saying. There midterm and final are take at home essays and you can do it by just googling the information. There is an extra credit paper in which you have to read a book and do a summary, it helps your grade a lot.
i started to never show up because his lectures were never relevant to the 3 tests he gave through the semester. even without showing up, i could easy take my test and pass. you will have 3 tests which are 1000 word papers on generic topics and one term paper about anything government related. really easy class to pass, and he's a funny professor
His lectures are interesting and he can be pretty funny. The class is basically set up with 3 tests (essays) and a research paper.
If you're looking for an easy A this is the course and professor to take. Only grades are 3 exams and a term paper, but the exams are at-home essay questions that he opens for an entire week. You have all semester to do the term paper. Responds to emails quickly and attendance is not mandatory (I only went to class once and still got an A).
Dr. Farcau from the beginning you could always see his enthusiasm for talking about all aspects of United States politics, he gave jokes so the class was interesting. I always went to classes and helped to have information for the exams. There are three tests including the final, and an eight-page research aper
Oh Bruce, where do I even begin... XD on a real though easy class, great professor. I barely went to lectures, but when I did they were interesting and fun. 3 essay style tests in the whole semester, and one 8 page paper that you have all semester to do. Interesting guy.
His class was fairly easy, he talked from his head and might ramble on a certain topic. You don't have to use the Diplomacy textbook, but I highly recommend using it as another source when writing for his class. Since during the lectures, he would refer to that author =. Midterm and finals are essay-based.
Bruce's POS2041 class is a fun and engaging experience. His lectures are lively, and the workload is manageable - 3 tests and an 8-page paper. I found unstuckstudy ai really helpful for test prep alongside the textbook. Overall, an easy A if you stay on top of things.
Farcau is a fantastic lecturer. He is clearly very passionate about his field, and is quite entertaining. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should still go anyways. There is an assigned textbook, however I found it was not needed. Grading was on 3 take-home tests as well as a term paper, all weighted equally. There are extra credit opportunities
Loves to talk about how great Trump is for 30 minutes before starting every class. The amount of misinformation and clear political bias. that he has spewed is really impressive for someone teaching in his field.
Prof. Farcau is very knowledgeable, and his lectures are heavy in information. For his diplomacy class, quizzes are open for a week, and you just have essays as a response to the questions posted. He talks for the entire class and sometimes it can be boring as he does not share any engaging material to explain the topics. Easy class.
hilarious professor, easy class, from what i remember only 3 papers the entire semester. if you want a gpa boost, or just want to have a fun professor, take him. he doesnt really teach that much, more just talks about what he thinks is interesting, but if youre fine with not learning and just having an easy A, take him!!
I am reluctant to say anything bad about him because he's such a great guy but you won't learn any necessary information related to the class subject. He likes to talk about his career and give advice rather than lecture, which is nice but you won't learn anything. Still an easy A but one of those classes where you wonder why you're paying for it.
Very easy class. I believe there were 4 tests and you have a week to complete them, they consist of 5 prompts (you pick 2) and respond to them in 1-2 paragraphs. The big grade is the term paper that you have the entire semester to complete, I believe mine was around 2000 words, but you chose the topic and it just has to be anything history related.
Very easy class with only 3 written exams and a term paper. He grades fairly, so put in the effort. Lectures are a bit hard to follow, no slides or textbook, just him talking for 45 minutes. He likes to address current events at the start of class, and he can be funny. If you attend, sit in the front where can hear him.
Dr. Farcau is a great professor, full of personality. Attendance is not mandatory, so the classroom was empty in most classes, but to be honest, you don't need to show up to get an A. Your grade is dependent upon 3 test papers and one term paper. Dr. Farcau is a very lenient grader, so I never had trouble getting an A on a paper.
I love him and idc what anyone says, pretty straight with his expectations of the class and the assignments (3 tests and a term paper), and he gives you extra credit. Go to class every day, and you might end up with extra credit just for showing up
Bruce Farcau is an awesome professor. The workload is light - 3 exams (each one is 2 essay questions), and 1 term paper. While the lectures aren't vital to understanding course material, he often uses his own personal life and work experience to discuss concepts in the course, which is very insightful. He is also hilarious and has great jokes.
This class is the easiest and there are only four grades: three exams and one term paper. His lectures are not mandatory and honestly not even needed. His exams are 4 essay questions, and you pick two. You get a week to complete each exam, and he does not take late points off. He is a nice guy, but talks alot about Trump.

Super chill guy. Attendance is not mandatory and the lectures are not necessary for you to succeed in the class. You have 3 exams and 1 term paper for the entire semester. All I can say is try to start the term paper early because although you can write about whatever you want it is very lengthy.
This professor was a good guy. He would start every class by talking about recent events/things in the news and would spend the rest of the time lecturing. He almost always let us leave about 10 minutes early and attendance is not mandatory Throughout the semester there are only three tests and a term paper that you work on all semester as a final
Very difficult to communicate with. He expects you to read his mind, especially with assignments that he doesn't clearly explain. Over canvas messages I've had bad experiences with him being rude and slow to reply. Also, you won't learn anything in his class.
super nice guy, very few assignments, there were 3 "tests" which consisted of answering 2 essay questions, which he graded fairly. always talked out loud in class, so take your own notes, but was always engaging and made jokes. truly cared about his students and them learning from this class
