Prof Ferrin is a very dedicated educator. He is very helpful and thorough. His lectures are broad and informative. He will help you as much as you need it and has an open mind relative to questions and ideas. His tests are difficult and demanding.
He is a nice guy.. class is always long and he's relatively boring. Exams are pretty easy though but very intense. He's willing to help if you want. If there is someone better take that... but if you must you'll make it through.
Book was terrible and everybody somehow learned to take notes in this class because there is nothing else you can do. So much material, I wasn't able to find the information in my cheat sheets. The average in first test was 65 and in the second 55 and he does not believe the curve in tests and brakes in 6:30 class. SAP stuff were also little hard.

Worst professor I have ever had at WMU.
Worst prof. Extremely intense, not lenient, boring, doesn't teach well. 1st test is all conceptual MC, avg grade 60%. 2nd is all problems, so if you learn each type, you can do great on it. 3rd is a mix, not very hard. Lots of homework, 3 1-page papers, in-class assignments. Often grades arbitrarily without marking what you did wrong.
class is a joke. have to write 50 papers for most of your grade (80%). Somehow a class full of upperclassmen only had a mean in the 70's on these papers. Bottom line, guy has unrealistic expectations. Final Exam is about as hard as getting your car to obtain flight.
Must think his class is the only one students are taking, He also has unrealistic expectations of students, and seems to enjoy the fact that no one can attain an A in his class?
Horrible teacher. Very hard, very intense, very stressful. The book is very hard and he does not explain things clearly. Also, is just not a very nice guy. He anwers questions like he is above everyone.
Terrible Teacher. Extremely intense. NOT easy to ask questions to. Tests are terrible. I have a 3.82 GPA studied my butt off and am going to get a C. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
Took the TryZ with him. He constantly yells at students unnecessarily. You can't ask him anything becasue he treats you so badly! He is disrespectful and likes to micro manage students. I like hard teachers who are challengign and willing to help in order to make students learn. He doesn't care if you learn anything. I wish i took it with Dr Lyth.
Worst teacher I have ever had hands down. Thinks he is better than everyone and is not afraid to let you know that. Very arrogant, impossible to ask questions to in class or Try-Z he simply talks down to you. Logistics class is ridiculous; he must think this is the student?s only class. Avoid this jerk at all costs.
Worst professor ever. Expect no feedback on homework assignments at all. Grades are completely arbitrary because you get no feedback and don't know where to improve. How he ever got hired in the first place is a complete mystery. Poor attitude and offers no help or clarification even when asked. Avoid if possible even if it means another year
The logistics class is terrible, I don't know what he is thinking when he assigns us this work. He thinks we don't have any other class and wants us to post daily on topics that are given very little attention in the text. I've heard that he refuses to listen to other professors, and has no problem giving you a bad grade. Terrible Prof.
If you took 400 lbs of dog crap and piled it six feet high, you'd still end up with a better professor. Unapproachable, uncommunicative, slovenly appearance, and generally uncomfortable to be around. I liked college until Dr. Ferrin, now I'm severely disenfranchised with the whole experience. Worthless as both a professor and as a human being.
Worst teacher on the earth or possibly the universe. To sum up his character quickly...HE IS THE ULTIMATE DB. Avoid him like you would avoid the black plague! Would have never majored in my field if i had known about him prior.
he is very unrealistic, he also is very rude and not understanding about anything!
Worst teacher ever.... DO NOT TAKE
Worst teacher in know at WMU, unrealistic, rude, unhelpful, runs the class ridiculously, to review your exam u have to make urself available on his office hours.
Rude, arrogant, disrespectful and uncouth. Ferrin was by far the least agreeable professor I have ever had at WMU and I would never take him again for any class. He goes out of his way to make students feel dumb for asking questions and makes it as difficult as possible to learn course material. Terrible professor.
Simply the worst. Doesnt beleive in breaks in a night class, curves on a 55% class average test, or deoderant. I would rather spend 2 hours in the lake-effect kalamazoo snow storm in a speedo than spend the 2 hours a week i took in his class. Had to drop the class just couldnt take it anymore. take a hint, your class is the only one thats notfull
Not as bad as everybody makes it out to be... you have to attend all class sessions and absence results in harsh penalties. Quizzes have very specific questions so its important to thoroughly read and reread notes and the book. Lectures are interesting, with relevant examples to visualize both logistics and supply chain management. Great professor.
Makes the class much harder than it has to be. Tests ask questions that he doesnt discuss in class. Final is worth all 4 tests combined and is extremely hard. He talks loudly is arrogant and thinks his class is the most important one at western. Probably least favorite teacher ive had my 4 years at western.
He expects professionalism with out reciprocating or showing respect. He seems to equate respect with obedience, generating hostility. He publicly humiliates his students, which is disruptive. All I have to say is "You wouldn't call out an employee's misconduct in public would you?" It's disgraceful, unprofessional & disrespectful.
He is the worst professor and human being I've ever seen! Extremely rude and disrespectful to the students.
Don't understand why I have to take this class as an Accounting major, I will never use anything I was supposed to learn in this class in my field of study. Easily the most useless, and unnecessarily difficult class in the business school.
4 online exams throughout semester are tough. Daily iclicker quiz so show up. HW every week online. NOT eligible for final curve if you miss ONE hw. Get the book it helps a lot with online mid-terms. Stay off his radar if possible because he will do you no favors.
Ferrin is not as bad as people make it out to be. Just go to class, do your work, and you'll be fine. It's a huge lecture. If you do your thing, you won't have to interact with him. However, the class is challenging and the book, while EXTREMELY necessary, could be way better.
Horrible Professor. I would honestly recommend you not take this class with him. His lectures are pointless because most of what is on the exam is from the book. But you're still forced to go to his class because of the clicker quizzes.
AVOID. Regardless of how interested you are in the subject, this professor will ruin your experience and also grade inconsistently between students. Communication takes the form of yelling/badgering of students. Final Project terribly described as was evident to the writing center staff. Doubt he read our entire project, don't agree with grade.
He is extremely rude and does not treat his students with respect. He has unrealistic expectations for the amount of information students should retain for exams. Final exam is impossible. 160 questions/120 minutes and it's worth as much as all 4 midterms combined. I went into the final exam with an A in the class, ended up with a final grade of B.
I hated this class. The professor was very rude and I felt as if he were yelling at us the entire time. You have to show up everyday to take daily quizzes on your iclicker. They're pretty easy if you listen in class. He likes to call people out and wants everyone to act as a professional even when he doesnt.
Dr. Ferrin is one of the best professors teaching supply chain in U.S., he is also one of the best professors I have had during my MBA program. He is teaching you not only the business concepts, but also computerized skills as well as mathematical methods required in designing an excellent working model used in forecasting, planning and scheduling
Avoid if possible. He makes the class alot harder than it needs to be. Exams are the majority of your grade. You have to attend every day and aren't eligible for a curve if you don't do one homework assignment or miss class once.
I took Dr. Ferrin's class about 2 years ago. This class was ridiculous. Not only are the other comments true that he is very disrespectful, he also seems to enjoy making the class more difficult than it needs to be. The article readings will prove to be useful and beneficial if you start a career in Supply Mgmt, but definitely avoid Bruce.
Must go to every class to receive the curve. Makes claass harder than it needs to be and the exams are nearly impossible.
Absolute worst professor I have ever had at WMU. When I asked him for help on the homework he simply said, "you'll have to figure it out". Not helpful and it's a useless class. His exams are nearly impossible to pass because the information given in class is not on the exam. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS
i feel it is my duty to spread the word to never take this guy. he is degrading, unrealistic, and takes pride it seeing students fail.
Do not take him for BUS 3750! I had missed 1 HW and e-mailed him at the end of the semester asking for him to re-open it. I had NOT missed one class period, one quiz, one clicker question and he denied my request. Therefore I did not receive the curve! Also, rude yelling during class sessions. If you have to take him MAKE SURE you do the HW.
The worst kind of person. Wake up bright and early and schedule your BUS 3750 with ANYONE else.
Yes, he is very loud and aggressive, but he is a decent teacher. The best advice I could give you: first class, go up and introduce yourself. If you are nice and respectful to him, he WILL return the favor. Its a hard class, and yes he makes you do everything for the curve, but this is college! Grow up and do your work! You'll be fine.
Disrespectful, out of touch, unrealistic teacher. You would be hard pressed to find one student who likes this professor.
Ferrin honestly isn't as bad as people make him seem on here. If you go to class, read the book, do homework assignments, its not that difficult. If you respect him in his class, he's pretty understanding and not a bad teacher. I'll admit the exams are hard though. Make sure to read the book because he'll quote things from the book.
Bruce Ferrin is a challenging professor in the sense that he challenges the part of me that wants to believe that people are inherently good. Rude to his students, offers poor support, places undue stress on attendance, yells constantly, and only stops being absolutely unbearable to tell whiny self-deprecating jokes. Poor lecturer. Avoid.
Avoid him by all means. He is so loud and so unrealistic. Really, I don't know how he got this position but WMU will do a great favor to students if they replace him. He is so unprofessional. The class itself is so easy if you study but he makes it tough just to make your life miserable. Take this class with anyone else but not him.
Don't have make the mistake go signup for this class with this instructor. You will regret i. His mission is to fail you.
Material coverage is uneven, though some useful ideas are covered. Curve elligibility is contingent on being there for iclicker quizzes. I had to fight him for mine, since there was a station error one day. Some concepts such as exponential smoothing were really interesting. I kept the course pack. Final was approx. 2 hours for about 220 questions.
Tough but fair
Bruce Ferrins lectures are loud + long + boring. He takes pride in ensuring our lives are miserable. If you miss any assignments (connect homework, iClicker attendance) you are not eligible for the curve. I will say that he gives quite a bit of extra credit because everyone does bad on the tests. If you can avoid him do it.
He is the hardest teacher I have had and this is a foundational class!!!
Finally a teacher at WMU Haworth College of Business that gives you your money's worth! Overall, Haworth is a despicable sham and embarrassment, but Mr. Ferrin is a well-spoken professor who will put students in their place. If you are hard-working and respectful, you'll do well. Tests are tough but are online. So study with motivated students.
this man is sooo rude and and disrespectful he will kicked someone out because he checked his phone. he is racist and not fair in grading. the exams are about 160 Quis in two hours which is redicalus . stay away from him
His bark is much worse than his bite. He's rude if you deserve it. If you put in the work and read the text book, you will do fine. Just wish the class wasn't so focused on supply chain as it's hard to apply to areas that don't deal with it.
If you don't come to class you will fail. His lectures are about the homework. If you miss ANY assignment you are out of the running for a curve, which he may or may not even do. The only I met that went through the WHOLE BOOK! Not only that your final will be 160 questions and your test are 80 with only an hour and 15. Don't take his class
Tough but fair. Need to read the book and watch the extra videos. Make sure not to miss any assignments or you will miss out on the curve. He grades fairly I got an AB without being eligible for the curve. Plenty of points available on homework and iClicker to make up for tough tests.
Save yourself the headache and take this class with someone else if you can. This guy is so rude and disrespectful to the students. Even in emails.
Lectures, book, homework, and exams have little/no correlation. Supply Chain based class that has students of every major except ISM. Not quite as bad as most of these reviews make him seem, but not a good professor by any stretch. Take with anyone else.
Dr. Ferrin is extremely rude, and does not seem to care about his students much at all. His lectures don't typically have anything to do with the tests. His tests are unnecessarily hard for what is considered an intro course, and the only supply chain course many business majors will take. Take this class with ANYONE ELSE if you can.
Took MKTG 6140 weekend long class, was simply the worst experience of my life. Rude, loud, and abrasive is the only way to describe him. Also the entire grade was totally subjective. I took this class only because I needed to, to graduate in Spring. I could not recommend anyone take a class with him unless absolutely 100% necessary.
The rudest, most abrasive and least caring professor I've ever had the misfortune to study under.
An absolutely deplorable human being. Overly aggressive and will berate students during class for absurd reasons. I've never seen the man smile, especially as he shouts everything he says. You will only pass if you are eligible for the curve, which you obtain by attending every lecture and passing all the homework. Class starts promptly at 1:59.
Undoubtedly the worst professor in the Haworth College of Business. Doesn't like helping or talking to students; if you ask a question after class or even go to office hours he tells you to email him. Tests are extremely difficult and you must attend each class and complete all homework to get the curve. Does not budge on this policy at all.
Finally a class that was challenging. His lectures are long, but to the point and cover the homework. Read the book (all of it) , pay attention, go to class, and put in some effort and you will do well. The biggest negative is that he does not like to help you if you are having trouble; come prepared and be professional and he is more likely to hel
All the tests and quizzes are online. Additionally, you get unlimited attempts to re-do the homework within the time that it is available to you. He isn't willing to help you but that's what the T.A. and the internet are for. For any of his classes you will have to do a lot of self teaching. Side note: never leave his class early
Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. His exams are based off of nothing you learn in class, but class is mandatory. When I would ask him for help before class, even if it was a quick question, he would tell me he didn't have time; and then he would stand there doing nothing before class would start. He does not care about his students!
You won't use any material from this course in your future. Often times midway through the lecture I was unclear what we were even talking about. I tried being engaged every day but the material is scattered around and completely confusing.
Expects you to memorize or write down everything he says during his lectures, while he doesn't put them on the screen. The in class quizzes are extremely hard, even if you take notes you probably won't get 100%. He calls out students for being even a minute late. Would not take him again, I don't recommend taking him, absolutely dreaded this class.
Do not expect any help, of any kind, for any reason. Every question that anyone has asked has been answered by some variation of "It's YOUR responsibility." or "Email me." and he will not reply to your email in a timely manner if at all.
Lecture heavy, Iclicker quizzes every class (required for attendance, cracked down on sharing Iclickers), Mcgraw Hill hw due every week, & DON'T show up late. 4 online midterm exams (timed, very hard, quizlet/google sometimes helps). Overall he's tough, intimidating, but misunderstood. He knows the material in & out, and just demands respect
Very boring lectures with clicker questions. Just by attending class and completing the connect assignment I was able to pass. 240 points possible in clicker question, but only out of 200, this helped me a lot!! Tests are difficult but final is questions from the exams. The textbook is necessary, he doesn't lecture on all of the topics!
This guy sucks. I haven't even had him before and I dislike him A LOT. His emails are very aggressive and rude.
Just the worst the most awful professor Ive ever had in my entire life. Rude and hard graded person boring class. Hard exams and quizzes never help students. His class is kind of an online class all exams are online and tge hw as well. But attendance is taking every class so you need to be there. Just dont take his class not recommended at all.
He spends entire lecture periods ranting and going off on tangents. A small part of what is on the tests is covered in class, so be prepared to self-teach. Also, attendance is mandatory, taken by i-clicker quizzes. BEWARE: any rule-breaking by one class member will result in punishment of EVERYONE!! Professor not recommended!
He offers a curve but one student can get it taken away from everyone. He is really hard to pay attention to and seems to take pleasure in the suffering of his students. When you ask a question he talks down to you like you are stupid and more often than not won't answer the question.
Don't even know where to begin. This class has been the worst I have taken at WMU and I can blame that all on Prof Ferrin. He has no respect for students and is power hungry. The material is hard, he is condescending, and he offers no help. Prepare to teach yourself and hate every second of lecture. Don't know how he is still employed by WMU. Sad.
Absolutely awful. Avoid this professor at all costs. He is more vested in failing students than passing them. Spent the day we reviewed the syllabus screaming at everyone aggressively. Brags that he is tenured so cannot do anything to him. Terrible terrible terrible
80 questions for 1Hr 15 min tests. screams through entire lecture, super annoying. blames you for not studying hard enough when entire lecture of 200+ scores an average 50% or lower on exams. Talks about being tenured and not caring what students opinions are. Will interrupt you after asking if you have a question... not a very helpful guy. & rude!
He knows the material very well, but is horrible at teaching it to other people. Doesn't really care if you pass or not. Tests are super hard, you have 1hr 15 mins to finish 80 questions. Have hw due with every chapter. I would for sure look into the other profs that teach this class before taking it with Bruce.
Great example of someone who is too cynical and downright ornery to still be teaching, yet the fact that he's tenured allows him to do so. Four midterms throughout the semester including one a week before finals. Impossible not to get help from quizlet, chegg, etc. Not afraid to punish everyone for one person cheating. Do NOT take his class!
DO NOT TAKE HIM !!. DO NOT TAKE HIM !!. DO NOT TAKE HIM !!.
Dont take him!!!!!! worst professor I ever had!!!!
Make sure to read everything thoroughly and always come to class and the lab prepared and on time.
Avoid at all costs! Worst professor I have ever had! Just don't do it to yourself.
Only 21 out of 165 kids got a 70% or better on his midterm and he does not think this is even the slightest bit his fault. Most profs take pride in students passing their class, this guy takes pride in students failing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
No extra points offered, and 13% of my class passed the midterm with a C or better. He restructured the course so there are only two exams, but the study guides are ridiculous and lengthy. Avoid at all costs.
By far one of the worst professors that I have ever had. Assignees homework with every chapter. Gives two exams, midterm, and a final that are so hard to pass. Chegg or quizlet are not useful at all. I recommend you avoid taking him if you can.
If you have him take the W. - for fun ask him if he will curve final grades.
The worst professor I have had in my four years of college. He is pompous and belittles students for asking questions. His tests are extremely difficult even if you attend every class and take detailed notes. The average score on the midterm for my class of 160 students was a 55% and no curve was given because "There's no curve in real life." AVOID
Ferrin is a trash professor. The class material feels like a waste of time and he is just about the worst person to share a lecture hall with. You probably will have to take 3750 with him so you'll find out why he's so bad anyway. Buckle up.
DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING WITH HIM. I am SAVING YOU. PLEASE LISTEN TO ME. He is rude, completely unorganized, and cannot teach. This class is pathetic and I have not learned one single thing. I cannot stress it enough: AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.
This dude is legit the worst professor I have ever had. This class feels completely pointless and it doesn't relate to my major at all (advertising) , yet I am required to take it in order to graduate. He forces students to purchase McGraw Hill for homework assignments, which if I had to guess is because the dude is too lazy to grade HW himself.
Though his class was tough and lectures were long and full of material. If you put a little bit of work in you will pass. The homework is all easy and can be done until you get 100%. He stated that if you complete all of the homework then you could get 50% on all of his tests and still pass the class.
Do not take any class with this professor. Will yell at students if they are caught not writing every note down. Does not care if you have financial issues and need time to get materials for class. Exam grade averages can be sub 50 percent and he will not give out a curve.
This professor is rude and loves to fail students. Claimed many times my group did not turn in part or all of our assignments when we had proof we did. When you ask him a question he does not answer and replies with an answer. Not to mention doesn't teach and sits at the front doing nothing but play hayday.
Condescending professor who does not use any of the available resources through E-Learning. Changed the syllabus 3 times as well as the schedule. Had clear instructions on the syllabus for the deliverable and then told us to ignore the syllabus when asked about it. If you have questions, read the book that is irrelevant.
Belittles students and goes back on his word constantly. When he tells you to do one thing, check back in a day or two to find out if he changed his mind. If he did change his mind be prepared to be lectured about how the first way he told you was incorrect and he would never say that.
Close your eyes. You're trapped in the opening scene of Full Metal Jacket for 37 and a half hours. Wait no you're not you're just in Bruce Ferrins class.
