He is a pretty decent teacher, and very educated in this subject. I usually fall asleep in early morning classes, but his lectures keeps me awake. Just make sure to write EVERYTHING down, and you can use notes on test. No book required. Study, and you will do well... There is also plenty of extra credit opportunities.
Dr. Flower is a really nice man, and has a lot of experience as a teacher. If you speak up in class, he'll definitely remember you. You definitely have to go to his class, because he is a lecturer; write down (I suggest typing) everything he says. I had a nice conversation with him this morning, actually; he's very helpful (:
If I only had one hour left to live, I would probably spend it in this class because it feels like it lasts an eternity. His lectures are long and boring and he spends at least 75% of the class talking about himself. Would NOT take again.
I liked Dr. Flower's class, however, the material is kind of tough to learn. He only has the midterm, the final, and an observation report. So, do not fail anything!!
The midterm and the final are open note, but they're only open note because the tests are impossible. I attended every class, typed every word that came out of his mouth, printed & used my notes for the midterm. Got a 54. Awful, awful class.
Missed only once class the entire semester, typed everything, yet struggled more in this class than in any other class ive ever taken. Tests are open note but only because they are ridiculously hard. Like I said, typed everything the man said and still couldn't answer some of the questions on the exams.
First time back at school in a long time. Im a adult learner i had him for my first semester back. He lectures whole class. You must write EVERYTHING DOWN. Hes intimidating, rude, almost scary. He does a good job at commanding the class attention though. Midterm he says if you show up youll pass! WRONG... hes test are so hard he words them very har
Lectures from the beginning of class to the end. WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING. Tests are open note. There are 2. I wrote everything and still struggled. The observation report for his class is suggested to be 8 pages, which means type 10 to be safe. Really hard, wouldn't take again.
If you do not attend class, you will fail. Don't even bother buying the book, because his tests are solely based off of his lectures. Write everything the man says while he is lecturing. The tests are open-note, yet they are still difficult.
Participation matters! Come to class and write down what he says. Simple formula for a good grade. I have taken Dr. Flower three times now and would again.
Unnecessary and unless studying law, no point in taking the class
Dr. Flower is 1 of the best instructors I've ever had! Flower truly cares about each student. I was 100% engaged each class period. He is thought provoking and inspirational. Theres a simple formula for success in his class: attend every class, write down every word he says, do some extra credit (he gives endless EC opportunities) and you get an A.
Dr. Flower tries to be intimidating but he's not (it's kinda annoying). Midterm, Final, Observation Report, and a movie review are your only grades. Tests are open note. Don't buy the book, he doesn't use it. Tests are straight from the lectures. Don't come in late. Wastes time with current events and talking to students.
Dont buy the book, come to every class and just write down everything he says. You can use notes on midterm and final. There is a movie review and observation report. Easy class if you attend, not a tough grader. I've taken him twice. He is a bit intimidating at first but he just demands respect from the class
Dr. Flower was one of the most interesting teachers I've had and it made it easier to come to an 8 AM class. However, I rarely missed class and wrote down everything he said (what he said would get a good grade in the class) and I ended up with a C. I don't recommend the class, but he is a good man.
Took a class about congress and didn't learn a lick about congress. He taught random current events about things that didn't relate to congress what so ever. That being said WRITE EVERYTHING HE SAYS VERBATIM because EVERYTHING will be on an open note test. He is also very pretentious and a jerk. pretend like you agree with him and youll be fine
Dr. Flower is a saint, a scholar, and everything in between. Highly recommend taking a course with this guy, there's a lot to learn from him.
Dr. Flower is an amazing professor. He may only have three assignments for the semester (mid-term, final, and observation report) but you WILL work for them. Do NOT skip a single class. Write down EVERYTHING that comes out of his mouth. It will only benefit you, the tests are open note. I ALMOST changed my major because of him, almost. Great prof
This was a strictly lecture course. Everything that will be on the midterm and final will be said in class so attendance is a must. The observation report can be frustrating, however; he does give detailed expectations and ample time to work on it. Great lectures. He makes them interesting to all age groups.
Dr Flower is very knowledgeable about this subject. Write down everything he says because there's no powerpoint, but you can use your notes on the two exams. There is a major paper done with an outside observation, but it is interesting. Overall, good class and very good professor.
Terrible professor! Would not recommend! Major grades come from projects done outside of class. Not helpful at all!
Hes a great guy but not a great class for an 8am. His lectures are very long and if you joke woke up all you will be thinking about is sleeping. That being said his grades are fair and if you write down everything he says you will pass.
I had high hopes for this professor, but he lost my respect quickly. He encourages students to ask questions, then in a smart-mouth tone, tells you to read the syllabus. Hes sarcastic in a rude manor, doesn't help you at all, and ignores emails.
I loved his class. He is really funny and his lectures are amazing. But its not an easy class. He makes you do an observation report where you gotta go to a trial and sit in for 2 hours and then write a long paper about it. Kinda strange for a survey course but not the worst thing in the world I guess. Overall worth it.
Yes, you have to write an 8+ page observation report. Don't overthink it. It wasn't that bad. Attendance is mandatory. Make a friend that writes good notes if you miss class. Tests are open book/notes. Read the syllabus before asking questions. Don't be late or have your cellphone go off during class. One of the best professors I've had at KSU.
I love Dr. Flower. If you are willing to write everything he says read his syllabus and do the observation report, you'll be fine. His class seemed daunting but if you do exactly what he says, you'll get a B or even an A. I don't like government but he makes it funny and interesting. He can be sarcastic and seem unapproachable but its just a facade
Come to class every day. Read tests carefully. I missed a few questions by not paying attention to what was being asked. An observation report is required. This can be demanding since he requires 2 hours. However, if you listen and do what is asked, you will get a good grade.
Professor Flower looks intimidating but is approachable and helpful. If you don't go to class you will struggle. 2 tests and 1 observation report. Tests are not too difficult if you write down his lectures word for word. He is very knowledgable and gives examples for everything he goes over. No homework given.
If you are someone who skips class regularly, this is NOT the class for you. Two tests (open note) and one observation report. If you are planning on taking Flower, go to every class, write down everything he says, and do the observation report exactly as he asks. I thought I was going to do good in his class and left with a D.
Dr. Flower is a very knowledgeable man. He doesn't make attendance mandatory, but if you miss class you'll miss the test content. Everything he says in class is on the test.
Professor Flower is a highly knowledgable man. If you are the kind of person who skips class frequently, this is not the class for you. Attendance is mandatory. You HAVE to write down everything he says. His tests are open note, but still difficult. If you like lectures, take this class. If you dont't, avoid this class at all costs!
Prof. Flower is absolutely the worst Professor I have had thus far in college. You only receive two grades for the course, absolutely ridiculous for a general ed class. I did the observation report to a great extent and found every question except for maybe three on the exam and made a C in the course. DO NOT TAKE PROF. FLOWER FOR ANY CLASS.
Prof Flower was one of the best professors I've ever had! 2 tests. 1 observation report. Tests are open book/ note. Really funny at times too. TYPE OUT YOUR NOTES/ EVERYTHING HE SAYS ON MICROSOFT WORD!!! SO MUCH EASIER/FASTER THAN WRTING THEM!!! If you type out everything he says, you will definitely make an A. DO NOT MISS A DAY OF LECTURE!!!
Generally easy class. Have to come everyday and write down everything he says or else you won't do well. 3 grades. Midterm, observation report and final.
Flower was a really intense teacher. You show up to class and take notes the entire time. If you miss class you will pay for it. He was a very intelligent guy but the class was not easy. He gave out a lot of information and hard to copy all of it. The 8 page observation report was very time consuming. If you're looking for an A you have to work.
If you are timid or easy intimidated by being called out, dont sit near the front of the class. Dr. Flower likes to jokingly pick on certain people during class, and it could be taken as offensive and intimidating (he does it with sharp remarks and a straight face). he's an ex judge and lawyer, and his lectures are riveting and at times hilarious.
If you don't go to class, you'll fail. Simple as that. 2 tests, 1 very large paper assignment. Fairly good teacher with a personality that keeps things interesting.
For someone who says "I'm willing to be wrong" more times than I could count, he sure doesn't act like it. Flower is an extremely rude man. Constantly ridiculing students, calling them out for their beliefs in class, and overall just arguing with them for no reason. Overall, bad professor, rude, and foul. But, his lectures are interesting.
Going to class is a must! He just talks in class, no powerpoints or notes and thats what you are tested over! You cannot be late. He will call you out in front of everyone.. very old fashioned but overall has good stories and a nice guy if you are on time and ask questions! Your grades are a midterm, final, and observation report!
HAVE TO GO TO CLASS. Use notes on test. There is a 10 page paper at the end. I never got my paper back so I don't know what I made. But i made a high B almost A on both of my tests and ended up with a C in the class. Don't buy textbook just go to class.
Taking him was my biggest mistake in college. There are 3 grades total. Two tests; a midterm and a final (each 100 points) and an observation report (150 point). My advise would be to come to every class, write down every word he says and pray, pray a lot. I studied many days before the midterm just to get a 78. Avoid Bruce Flower at all cost.
Prof was a hard-ass, not willing to help if you were confused. Lectures were long and incredibly boring. Did not teach classic government, but rather current events. The literal only way to pass is go to every class and write down EVERYTHING he says. The 8 page report was annoying, but just get it over with sooner than later; most people get A's.
Don't buy the textbook, just go to every class and write down as much as possible. He writes his tests based off what he teaches and lets you bring notes to the tests, so I found it best to type my notes and print them for tests. READ SYLLABUS CAREFULLY. He is willing to help but gets salty if someone asks something that's answered in the syllabus
I thought he was a great professor. One of the best I've had so far. The tests are relatively easy and open note. Assigns 1 paper that needs to be 8 pages long. It's not nearly as bad as it sounds. He used to be a judge and lawyer so is very smart on the topic. Goes on tangents and doesn't really follow a lesson plan which leads to repeated info.
Very knowledgeable! Former GA Supreme Court Judge currently a part time lawyer. DEMANDS respect. Read syllabus, take the Observation Report very seriously. No homework, all lecture. Only midterm, final, and observation report make up grade. Never be late or walk in front of him. Write down everything he says. come soff uptight at first but is nice!
AS LONG AS YOU SHOW UP FOR EVERY CLASS, WRITE DOWN EVERY THING HE SAYS, AND WRITE A REALLY GOOD OBSERVATION REPORT, YOU WILL BE FINE. HE IS AN OLDER GENTLEMAN AND HE TELLS STORIES (SOME ARE FUNNY) AND CAN GET OFF POINT. HE WILL CALL YOU OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS FOR SLEEPING/ARRIVING LATE/ EATING BUT THIS IS COLLEGE FOLKS. LEARN SOME RESPECT!
Write literally everything Dr. Flower says down because you have open note tests, take the Observation Report seriously, and read the syllabus like it's the last thing you'll ever read; if you do all this you will get an A. Dr. Flower is a great lecturer and you will no doubt learn a lot from his class.
To get an A in the class: - Go to class: you have to write every single last word Flower says in his lecture or you have no chance. Even if it seems irrelevant, just jot it down in case. You can use notes on the exams - Get an A on the observation report. Do not wait until the last day to work on it - -- Do EXACTLY as the syllabus says
He does talk the entire class, but he uses stories to teach the class from his own experiences which I thought was pretty cool. Do not let the long paper freak you out because it is one of the easiest papers you will ever write. If you come to class and write everything down then you will pass the test because he lets you use your notes. take notes
All you need to remember is show up everyday for class, write down everything he says, give a lot of time to your observation report and you will be fine. This is college not high school. Don't fall asleep. The easiest professor I have had.
Dr. Flower at first can come off rude, but in my opinion he is a very intellectual person. Eventually, I came to enjoy his way of teaching. He is a lawyer so a lot of what he teaches in this particular class is surrounded by court cases. tests are easy if you took notes every class. DO NOT SKIP! TAKE NOTES HE LETS YOU USE THEM ON EVERY TEST.
Do not suggest taking him. He doesn't lecture from the textbook, yet questions on his test com directly from the textbook. He has no respect for students and calls people out during class. It's not a traditional Am Gov class.. He mainly focuses on court cases and subjects that just interest him. He's the worst!
If you can learn to not be intimidated by Dr. Flower, he gives some great lectures. The entire course is two exams and the observation report, and he allows you to take a double or nothing bet for the second exam. Though the test are open notes, the notes from his lectures are all you've got. So keep them as organized as possible and find a buddy.
I don't care what the reviews say. This guy is one of my favorite professors at kennesaw. He is super successful and knows his stuff. If you try, you'll get at least a 'B'. Just take good notes. He lets you use them on exams. Do not be intimidated. I really enjoyed him.
Class is very lecture heavy. Professor Flower is a very good lecturer, take very good notes. All tests are open note so write EVERYTHING that he says. Do not skip class or you will not pass, simple. He has a very dry sense of humor and makes his lectures enjoyable, takes questions from students at the beginning of class. Overall good teacher!
This class is so easy IF you show up to class every day and take really good notes. If you do this you WILL make an A. There's only two tests and they are open note. He can be offensive sometimes, but he warns you on the first day of class. He will answer any questions you have. No homework. Take him for an easy A.
Enjoyed the class, didn't lecture from the textbook and make sure to WRITE EVERY SINGLE WORD HE SAYS, midterm was directly from his lectures so make sure to come to class every day or you will not pass
Very smart and a very interesting guy. Has a lot of experience as a lawyer and a judge. The class is lecture only. If you come to class and take really good notes you will get an A no problem. There are only 2 tests, the midterm and the final and both are 100% open note. There is an observation report too, and those are the only three grades.
I recommend taking this professor. He is enjoyable to listen to and although there are only 3 grades, the midterm is exactly what he says in class so you either gotta go or get somebody's notes for each day. Besides that, I highly recommend taking him. he's great
I do not recommend taking this class at the same time I did, which was my very first semester of college. Takes this after your first semester, show up to class, WRITE EVERYTHING HE SAYS DOWN and attend all classes. Attendance is not mandatory but you will need to be there in order to pass. Hard class, but Flowers teaches the material very well.
He only lectures without any use of technology (powerpoints/videos). All tests are open notes sowrite down everything he says. He is very knowledgeable, but boring at times.
This teacher is incredibly rude. Always talking down on people. These other comments say he is experienced, and that is true. He knows what he is talking about, but he is pompous, arrogant, and he blatantly makes fun of students and their work. I've been at this school for three years and have never heard anything like this man... Also boring AF.
If you do not come to class, you will fail. Lectures every day the full time, with no powerpoint or guided notes. Write everything he says down and bring it to the 2 tests in the class, because they are open note. 3 grades in class, extra credit is offered. The midterm and final are difficult. Did not skip 1 class and made an A.
If you come to every class and write everything he says you will easily make a B or higher. There are 3 grades, a midterm, a final, and an observation report. All of the tests are open notes. He's very funny and makes class enjoyable DON'T WAIT TILL THE LAST MINUTE TO DO YOUR OBERSAVTION REPORT.
He is an awesome guy with experience. He can be rude and inappropriate at times. There are only three grades in the class with multiple extra credit opportunities. Be sure to go to class and write everything down! All of his tests are open note and you do not need to buy the book! Do not put off the Observation Report until the last minute!
I absolutely loved this class. His lectures were so easy to follow along with; he uses many stories when lecturing so it makes it more enjoyable. Write down everything he says and you will easily make an A. Make sure you do some research before doing your observation report.
There are only three grades for the course. The midterm, the final, and one 8-page minimum observation report. All the material is spoken. If you don't write every word he speaks you will pass with maybe a C if not fail. There are no power points. If this is your only option like it was mine, you can do it just be sure to go to class and take notes
Dr. Flower was one of my favorite professors first semester. You must go to class to get the nots. three grades the whole semester consisting of observation report, test, and a final. All questions on the final and midterm are straight from the in class lectures. Take him if you are looking for a class that actually makes you think.
Though he can be intimidating at first, Professor Flowers is actually a pretty friendly guy. There are three grades in the class; a midterm, final, and observation report. As long you come to every class and write down everything he says in his lectures you should be fine.
Professor Flowers class was a very easy class. If you take good notes you can easily pass his class. However you are graded off of three things, two exams & an observation report. He lectures alot but he makes it interesting. He may seem stuck up on the first day, but he's really not! If you want an easy A take his course!
Anyone that says this class is hard is because they didn't go to class & take notes. That is ALL you have to do. Show up, listen, and write down every word he says. Lectures are interesting. Midterm and final are word for word what he says in class -easy. He may seem intimidating, but he's really a good guy. He will change your perspective on life
Dr Flower is a great professor and you will learn so much whether you want to or not, but YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS. You only have 3 grades, midterm, final, and an observation report. All his test come from your notes so make sure you take good ones. Also, don't try cheating, he will catch you. He seems mean at first but he's actually quite funny.
Good professor, would definitely take him again! WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING HE SAYS!!! Attendance was not required but if you skip you won't pass! Very interesting and he has a big heart!
Dr. Flower is extremely knowledgeable. Participate but don't ask really obvious questions. He's happy to repeat dates or names but not whole cases so pay attention! Write down everything and take thorough notes! Attendance isn't mandatory but it is if you want to pass the class! Comes off as rude at first but he's actually nice!
The book is not required, but you need to write everything he says, even if you don't think it's important. Use a laptop for quicker notes. The tests are open notes which is nice, but his lectures are opinionated and long. He is rude, and will not allow room for silliness.
His tests are open note but hard. He has a total of three grades in his class so failing is not an option. A midterm, an observation report (he makes you go to a Georgia court a watch 2.5 hours worth of cases and then write an 8 page paper on it), and a final. He's nice. Good intentions. But way too much information in lectures thats not on exams.
Midterm, Final, an Observation Report, plus plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Write down every single word he says because the tests are open note. He's a fantastic professor who is passionate about what he is teaching. Take the time to listen to what he has to say. Get to know him and talk to him. He's not as scary as he seems.
He is absolutely the worst professor I've ever had. I'm a usually a straight A student and he doesn't put anything on D2L. He gave me a D. He's very unclear I would avoid at all costs.
Bruce is a really nice teacher, but he is not easy at all. You only have two test and one paper. He requires a 8 page Observation report at the end of the semester. Requires a lot of effort. His lectures are the only things on the test so you have to write down everything he says in class. So miss and your out of luck.
Absolutely loved this professor. It's a class that requires some effort, but the experience is worth it. If you're the type of person looking for an enriching, positive experience and you're willing to put in the work, definitely take this professor. He was my favorite professor last semester.
He is a great professor but you have to go to class. He gives a midterm, observation report, and a final. His midterm was based directly off of everything he says in class so without notes you will not pass.
Dr. Flower is very experienced and intelligent, but comes off as pretentious a lot of times. He expects you to literally write down everything he says, which is impossible since he talks the entire class time. Tests are straight from what he says and the textbook is not necessary. Take good notes and you'll pass the exams.
Really good teacher. Knows what he is talking about.
He knows what he's talking about. Take notes on everything he says, even if it seems like irrelevant information. No need to study hard because the exams are open note. Don't bother with the textbook. He'll tell you on the day that it will conflict with what he teaches.
Dr. Flower is probably my favorite professor I have taken, in the beginning he comes off as intimidating but it's only to make sure students are serious about this class. Make sure to write every word he says, it'll be on the exams (2). The 3rd grade he gives is the observation report. He gives great lectures and stories so he keeps it interesting.
Great professor knows exactly what he is talking about and has lots of experience, however if you fail one test there is no way to get an A. the tests are open note and if you write down everything he says you will easily ace them. the observation report at the end isnt too bad. it is 8 pages and he says you need to go to a case for 2.5 hours
Go to every class, write down EVERYTHING he says and you will get a A/B easily. There is only a midterm, final, and an observation report which is an extended essay about a sentencing in court you have to sit through. Both tests are open note and final is NOT cumulative. Very clear grader. Gives EC and lectures are law and story based. Highly rec.
Dr. Flowers is a good professor who knows what he's talking about and he has a ton of experience as well. As long as you go to class and write down everything he says it's an easy class. There are only three grades; an observation report, a midterm and a final.
Professor Flower is such a good person and has great stories (he was a judge). I hate government, but he made it interesting. I would have loved this class way more if WE HAD MORE THAN 3 GRADES (midterm, report, final)
Dr. Flower is the greatest professor Ive taken. Midterm and final where if you show up to class every day, its the EASIEST A youll make. He is brilliant and sharp and has amazing stories. I was genuinely disappointed that the semester ended and I wouldnt have his class anymore. Start early on your observation report; its worth it.
Comes off really intimidating, but he has a heart. Come to class and take notes, you can use them on the exam. Before the midterm I went to most every class and made a 65. After midterm I only went to two classes, and ended up with a B. It's all about getting good notes from people. 8 page observation report is required.
Flower's tells you in the beginning if you come to class and write down everything he says you will pass. This is true. His class is eye opening, and not like an usual government class. He takes a topic so broad and wants you to learn it in different perspective. His lectures are not a bore, for there are multiple entertaining stories.
Absolutely LOVED Prof. Flower. One of the best professors I've ever had. He seems intimidating but he's a sweetheart with lots of stories. Demands respect and gets it. If you come to every class and write everything he says down, you'll pass. Only 3 grades in the class. Mid-term, Final, and Final paper. Does not use the textbook. Open-book tests
He is an old-fashioned professor: he doesn't allow you to have cell phones out, the observation report is due in person on paper, etc. His stories are very interesting, so his lectures aren't boring. Do try to attend every class, take notes on EVERYTHING he says, and study in a group for the exams, then the class will be as easy as everyone says.
I enjoyed this class a lot. He made lecture about government interesting by incorporating stories. You only have 3 grades for the class: midterm, observation report, and final. If you come to every class and write down everything he says, you will be fine. I did this and I did not study for any of the test and still did well.
He really knows what hes talking about. If I wouldve done better on the first test I would have a better grade. Write down everything he says and I mean everything! Try to organize your notes because tests are open note and it makes it easier To go through. (Dont spell his name wrong in the observation report FLOWER not FLOWERS go to every class
The class can be a very easy A if you show up and pay particular attention to what he says. His class will be nothing but lectures so make sure to write everything he says and follow his instructions to the letter because you will only get three grades the entire class.
He only has three grades, each worth a third of your grade. A midterm, final, and observation report. He can tell when you don't try and grades accordingly. Attendance is not mandatory but his test questions comes from what we discuss in class. If you are someone who goes to class, listens, and takes notes, I recommend him!
Bruce is a judge/lawyer if that tells you anything. He says if you write down every word he says you'll be fine but he goes fast it is hard to keep up. A question on the midterm was literally "what did the president have for dinner last week when he invited the democratic party over to the white house?" get ready to memorize all his lectures..
Its an easy a if you show up and write down everything he says , test are open notebook
DON'T TAKE!Take this class online for an easy A. He only grades you on your midterm, final, & an observation report where you sit in court & then write about. Hard paper. Even if you go to every class(which you don't have to but it helps) you still miss things he says especially bc he doesn't write it down. Tests are word for word from his lectures
All he does is lecture. The information he gives is useless considering its not on the test. He has 2 tests and a huge paper. Youll have to attend court for at least 3 hours, and tests are open book (although its over stuff he never talked about). You dont have to go to class but youll regret it if you dont.
He does not take attendance but it is required for you to listen to the lectures since that's what he bases the test off of. If you are a student that actually goes to class, listens, and tries you will pass!
The tests are all from class lectures so attendance and good notes is important. Only 3 tests and a report
Three grades: final, midterm, and an observation report. Go to class, write down EVERYTHING he says. Exams are open note. Don't show up late or he'll call you out and spell his name right (Flower). He tells a lot of stories in his lectures to help apply the information which I think makes it more interesting and he offers a lot of extra credit
Hes.... something else. I honestly dont know if I would recommend him or not. Hes very old fashioned and rude. Notes are taken straight from what he says in class. Write down EVERYTHING HE SAYS. The current events, his stories, even notes you dont think youll need to know. Youre graded on 3 things: the midterm, the final, and a paper.
This man... first off, if you don't show up, chances are you won't pass. His entire class is made up of him lecturing off of whatever he decides to talk about. You have to LITERALLY write down everything that he says because it could be on the test. His tests are open note. There is a midterm, final and an observation report. NEVER WALK IN LATE!!
There are only 3 grades: the midterm, a report, and the final exam. Everything he says in class is literally on the tests, so be sure to write down every single thing he says in class because the tests are open-note. The report is the biggest grade. As intimidating as he is, Dr. Flower is a sweet professor, but he will make you work for an A.
He is a hard prof, but if you go to every class and write down every word he says then you'll be golden because he makes the midterm and the final based off of what he says. Do not wait until the last minute to do the project.
He teaches you a lot, but he is not easy. You want to write down everything he says, so if you dont know how to take notes fast, I would not recommend this class. There are only 2 tests the entire semester. The only other grade is a toughly graded 8 page paper where you have to write about what you saw in court and it is over 1/3 of your grade.
Class is only lecture, so really its just listening and lots of note taking. If you are the kind of person that relies on multiple grades to pass, this is not the class for you. There are really only 3 grades: midterm, observation report, final. There are extra credit opportunities. Tests are open note and pretty much verbatim to the lectures.
This guy was the most annoying lecture I've ever had, and I hated the way he taught the course material. But - I got a fairly easy A. Tests are open-note, and you'll have to visit a court and write a paper. That's it, really. I took very good notes in class, typed them up, & brought them to the tests, but only needed them to verify cause I listened
there is only a midterm, final and and a 8 page paper. wrote down everything he says because both midterm and final are open note.
his class his solely based on his oral notes he gives. no textbook use, no additional study materials. just listen to him and take good notes and you will have success in the class
Grades consist of three things: the open-notes midterm and the final exam, and an observation report. The observation report is an 8-page paper written about your personal experience in observing some type of government practice (most people do a courtroom observation) for 2.5-3 hours. Go to class, write down everything he says, and... go to class.
I would advise to show up to every class and take great notes because you get to use them for your exam, which is mostly comprised of what was discussed in class. There are only three grades: two exams and an 8-page observation report worth half of your entire grade. The lectures are not boring and overall I enjoyed Dr. Flower as a professor.
Only three grades. Midterm, Final, observation report. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL LAST MINUTE TO COMPLETE EIGHT PAGE MINIMUM REPORT. trust me. If you sleep you will get kicked out.
They were not your typical lectures where you copy down what is on a powerpoint. Its expected that you write down everything he says. If you miss a class, you will miss important info. I recommend making friends in this class and sharing notes. The observation report is worth 50% of the grade, and can be difficult if you do not understand concepts.
We only had 3 grades, two of which we never got to see a grade for so you wont know what to expect for a final grade. If you miss class, you wont have the notes needed for the open note tests so make sure you attend every class. His test arent too hard. There is only one paper and he expects it to be lengthy and is strict when grading it.
this class only has 2 exams and one paper. Its not much but they are hard. If you don't come to class there is no way you'll pass the exam and you have to take notes of basically everything. However, he is very fun to listen, has good stories and his lectures provide an intellectual insight about American government.
Observation report is worth 200 points. If youre the type of student who cares about how well you do on essays then forget this class. Youll only ever know your final grade. Also dont waste your money on text book. All tests are note based. Theres only a midterm and final exam.
He is a great professor. With that being said, you will have the work for your grade given the fact that there are only 3 grades in the class; the midterm, observation report, and final. If you write down everything he says, youll do fine.
Would not recommend.
Professor Flowers class was one of my favorite classes Ive ever taken. He really cares that you understand the material and tells personal anecdotes to help you learn it. He gives amazing lectures. I would take him for as long as he continues to teach.
He is hilarious! But his class is hard. Two tests and a HUGE project. If you skip you will fail. Tests are open note but it could be on anything that comes out of his mouth. WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING HE SAYS!! If not you will fail. Projects long but fairly easy. His test questions are wild. And dont be late to class or he will kick you out.
You must take notes on everything he says during his lecture, which means you have to come to every class or at least ask for the notes if you missed a day. His tests are exactly on what he lectures, hence the reason to take notes. Both test are open notes. i enjoyed his class and his way of teaching.
Your entire grade is based on 3 things: Final, midterm, and an observation report. The observation report is 50% of your grade and requires you to observe a court case (or something similar) and then write a paper about it. His lectures are just him speaking and the tests come directly from that so you have to write down EVERYTHING he says.
He's the stereotypical college professor. He only lectures (no powerpoints, etc) and his instructions are to write down everything he says. You need to come to EVERY class. Only have a midterm, final, and big project (takes time). He can be intense and old fashioned, he cares and has a clever humor. You'll learn a lot that you can apply to life.
I took Dr. Flowers class a few moons ago. Im glad to know hes still teaching. If you want to be inspired and learn more than just some facts out of a book, take his class. You will learn how those facts relate to what is going on todays government.
Honestly, his lectures were great and funny. However, I felt like the lectures did not indicate exam material. Continue reading the online textbooks, and write down every little thing he says. Current events are important, and you will be tested on them. Study hard and study in groups! Others may have information that you missed.
Dr. Flower is quite possibly one of my favorite professors that I've ever taken. Do be warned though, you only have three official grades at the start of the semester. A MidTerm, a Final, and a Semester Long observation report worth half your grade. Don't like the sound of that, don't take him. If you do take him, write down what he says, trust me.
Prof. Flowers is easily one of my favorite professors I have had at KSU. He is very personable and all the notes and stories he gives you are based off his experiences on the bench. You are graded on an OPEN NOTE midterm, final & a paper on a court observation. Show up to class, take good notes and youll pass everything.
His class is only lecture. Theres nothing to base your notes off of. You sit in class and write down every thing he says (with no visuals) and hope that youre writing the important stuff down. He does not help when you ask questions, he is very opinion based, and he is also discriminatory towards you if you show up a few minutes late.
If you skip class you wont pass the mid-term or final. The tests are pretty much made up of what he says in class. Write down everything he says, word for word. Keep up with current events and dont slack when it comes to the observation report.
Professor Flower's class is definitely not for the faint of heart. He runs his class very strictly and there are many things that he does not allow in class. He is adamant on his students reading the syllabus early in the semester and showing up on time. The grade consists of two tests and an observation report. Do not slack and you will do fine.
Prof Flower is terrible. Didn't even give e a fair grade on one of the three grades in the class. The observation report that you have to write, doesn't actually grade it, he just glances and judges it by a quick look. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN HELP IT! Worst and most unfair prof I've ever had in my 3 years of college.
His grading options gave me anxiety. only 3 grades. doesnt put any grades into D2L so you dont really know your overall grade until the end of the semester. IF YOU ARE A GREAT NOTE TAKER, YOU WILL LIKELY PASS THIS CLASS. If you are not, I suggest you either drop or make some friends and study with them. lectures based on him talking, gets borning
Dr. Flower grades the class by 3 things. 2 open note exams and a 9+ page observation report. If you take good notes and show up to class you'll do fine. He can be harsh though. Before the final he called out the names of people who had already failed and did not let them take the exam. Talk about anxiety. Work with your peers, it definitely helps.
gave my all and still made a C.. do not take.
He has pretty interesting lectures and a dry sense of humor. Overall i really enjoyed his class but be prepared for a tough grader. also dont plagiarize cuz he will find a way to expel you. Only three main grades ( midterm, observation report, final). Dont procrastinate the observation report and youll be fine.
The class is three grades: two tests and an observation report. Bruce Flower is full of himself and acts like his general education Political Science class is the most important thing youll do all year, when in reality its the least important thing youll do in a given day. He commands fake authority from his students, and I would not recommend.
The worst professor I have ever had. He grades extremely hard and there are only 3 assignments that make up your entire grade for the year. You dont even get to find out what grade you made on your 10+ page observation report that makes up half your grade. You have to go to every single lecture to even remotely have a chance at passing.
We only had three grades which were a midterm, court observation report, and the final exam. We were never given the results of any of the grades, so you kind have to play a guessing game to know where you stand in the class. He does not use any visuals, powerpoint, or anything that you can refer back to for notes.
His lectures were not that interesting and the only grade I actually found out was my midterm out of three grades: midterm final and 8+ page paper about a court of your choice that you have to go to outside of class. I dont think I really learned anything, but Cs make degrees
His class was my favorite I have taken. Flower is incredibly smart and his lectures come from experience. He offers extra-credit opportunities that will actually improve your understanding of the material. His class was the final push for me deciding that I want to go to law school. His class isn't a cake walk but if you do the work you'll be fine.
Professor Flower was a really funny and nice guy. His lectures were always super interesting and I never really felt bored in his class. If youre looking for an easy A and you dont have a great memory this class isnt for you. There are only 3 grades observation report, the midterm, and the final. The tests are really hard, write everything down.
You have 3 main grades : midterm, final, and an observation report. Uses no powerpoints, you have to listen to every single thing he says. His tests are open notes. I wrote every single thing he said down & things he never discussed before were on the tests. Dont ask for guidance, hell just get rude with you.
Flowers was a decent professor in my opinion, very lecture heavy and only talks so it is very crucial to attend class. As long as you do that and write down everything he says, youre good to go. Its really up to a student if they want to pass or not, so go to class! Eight page observation report which wasnt too bad, a midterm and a final.
Okay, I hate history.. He made me hate history more. He sits in a chair and talks, gets off topic and is just super boring. Do not take him if youre not history crazy. I dropped his class because I knew I wasnt going to pass and he wouldnt let me take the final exam early (going on a cruise the day of the final)
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR AMERICAN GOVERNMENT. Your grade is made up of 3 grades and his lectures are hard to follow. Ended up failing badly, retook American Gov. class with a different professor and got an A. Just save yourself stress and take someone else.
his course was based on 3 assignments, the midterm, final, and the 8 page essay, had to attend a court case to write the essay, I do not recommend taking his 8 am class because he speaks low and his lectures are key to passing, he won't answer any questions that are already in the syllabus, his lectures were interesting
I was nervous initially going into the class reading the reviews, he is strict and has high expectations for you. It is tough with only 3 grades but his lectures are so interesting and enjoyable he really wants you to learn, which is why you have to put in effort but if you do you will do fine overall I think he is a great professor I reccomend.
Not a bad person but not a good professor. His lectures are good but that's all you have. He doesn't teach from a book but has three "recommended" textbooks to get. He doesn't take attendance but you need to go to class as his lectures are the only thing on the test. Just three grades for the class, 2 tests, and one paper. Not a great class.
He's nice, but his class is EXTREMELY lecture heavy. You seriously have to write down every single thing he says, whether it's an example/analogy/random fact that doesn't seem important. He says to get the textbooks, I only used them for tests. You only have three grades: a midterm, an observation report, and a final. There is very little EC.
Flower was fine as a professor, but he's also an *sshole. Don't show up late, try to leave during class, or ask a question answered in the syllabus. His lectures are full of unnecessary anecdotes, and he thinks he is hilarious. But if you show up for every class and write down everything he says, tests are open note, plus an 'observation report.'
Prof Flower is good at teaching American Government. His class requires your attendance every day and a minimum of a little bit of studying. He has a midterm and final. He also has an observation report for extra credit. He is very picky about how things get done and if you don't do it exactly how he wants it, it won't be accepted.
Professor Flower is a funny man but can be directly rude and his only help he will give you in the class is read the text book and write down everything I say. Theres only 3 grades for the class which are the midterm the final and an observation report which is a super long research essay. Beware of this class, he is a good man but a tough prof.
Professor Flower's online class was difficult in the sense that he is not structured well. His class consisted of online lectures, reading outside of class time, and VERY few grades. If you do not attend his lectures, you will be even more unprepared for upcoming tests.
Gave us only 3 grades for the entire class and proceeded to say "if you show up to my lectures and write down everything I say, you will pass", but people who did just that failed.
PLEASE READ! I am currently taking this class online. The midterm was 45 questions and we had 50 minutes to answer all of the questions and the average grade was a 60. When he was asked for a review day (for the midterm) he said no. I recorded every lecture and transcribed every word and still failed. He does not care about you or your grade.
His first test was an average of 61 and blamed the students. Gave no curve. When asked a question its "read the syllabus". Says to "write everything down". His whole first half of the class is on the judicial branch. Does not go over any other branch until after the midterm. He does not care for his students. Laughs at them and calls them stupid.
This class is no joke , he wants you to literally write down everything he says and do the readings , it is an over abundance amount of information to take on on one lecture. There are no assignments , just midterms and the final exam , there are extra credit opportunities but it most likely wont boost you. Also he is not the nicest.
He is a crappy professor and doesn't care if you're failing. 16% of my class with over 200 students passed the midterm.
He relies strictly on lectures and only has three grades a midterm, final, and observations report. Do not take his class it was not a good experience.
He only gives 3 grades the midterm which only 4 people of a 200 class made a good grade on. He is a messy thinker like he jumps a lot and he says write everything I say if you wanna pass and he will give you 50 mins for a 47 question exam and says it open notes. He does not care and is very rude
When Prof. Flower says take notes on everything he says, write everything down. I thought I wrote down everything he said, nope, probably missed a couple of ramblings here or there. The majority of my class failed the midterm, and a good portion dropped the class. Went from 120 students to 70 a week after the midterm so good luck if you take him.
Please choose another professor!! He does not care if you fail and he will not curve your grade at all. He said to write down everything he says and he means it. Even his stupid stories. I used voice type to take notes and I still failed the midterm. More than half of the class failed it. Only grades you on three things. Good luck.
Read the syllabus type of teacher
He has an interesting of humor but his tests are super hard doesnt matter if you do write everything he says.
There are 3 grades for this class excluding the 1 or 2 extra credit assignments. The midterm in the first one which everyone failed. He blamed the class. He doesnt answer questions. His attitude is bad a lot of the time. We literally just take notes all semester. Theres also an 8 page observation report. Avoid him at all costs
He literally gives you like three assignments for the whole semester and it's just... a lot... like just don't take this class.
Please, I'm begging you, do not take Dr. Flower's class. He has three main grades- midterm, observation report ( 8 pages ), and a final- one of which a majority of the class failed. No other assignments, all lectures, and constant confusion on what I should take notes on. I have never been under more stress in my entire life.
He grades 3 assignments and has 2 extra credits. He has a bad attitude most of the time. Most of the class failed the midterm and he blames us. Dont take his class
Hes very strict when it comes to class. He will joke around with the class, but dont expect any leeway when it comes to tests or projects. Due to COVID his biggest part of your grade (observation report) is very difficult, due to inabilities to go into government functions. Overall cool guy but very strict and difficult professor.
Do not take this class! Dont let the one good review fool you like it fooled me. I love this subject but the professor makes it literal hell and theres no way you can gain knowledge in here. He is a very tough grader. Our class average for the midterm was a 60 and he said thats a good average . Whatever you choose, take a different professor.
The worst Professor at KSU!!Most of the class failed the midterm and he blames us.
Terrible professor. Unclear and never takes responsibility for anything, always blames the students. Hope you don't have any questions because he either doesn't answer them or makes you feel stupid for asking. Thinks WAY to highly of himself, and often makes fun of students. Lecture heavy and they are boring with him going off topic. Don't take him
This professor is horrific! Extremely hard and lecture heavy class with no specific guidelines of the notes you should be taking. "Take notes every class and you will pass", that was the biggest lie all semester. Many people did not do well and grades extremely harsh. Course is made up of three grades: two tests (midterm and final) and report 8 pg.
Do not take this professor! If you take this professor you are already setting yourself up for failure. Only puts in three grades the whole semester. Blames everything on the students and doesn't take responsibility for his mistakes. Not one person received an A on the midterm and he blames us for not studying our notes when that's what we did.
Literally the worst teacher I have ever had. He is not helpful or understanding at all. He grades so hard and takes off so many points for little things and there is only one paper. He lectures without teaching it's a waste of your time and efforts to take this class.
All tests are open note and are based on what he says in class, so you have to take good notes to pass. The tests also require you to use the full hour to complete it, and you won't finish in time if you don't memorize some of your notes. Lectures are entertaining, he's a funny guy. Pretty strict too so don't expect an A without work or xtra credit
Do not take this professor!!! This professor does not know what he is doing !!!!
Im dropping out of this course as de student next semester !!
Good Luck Amigos!!
This professor isnt that bad...
This class was just difficult nothing else
Great person and a really smart guy, But definitely not a good professor, teaching style was not great or productive, tests and midterms were so hard even being open note he just words his questions really weird and i wish i never chose him as my professor :(
He is the worst professor I've ever had. He is rude and does not care if his students pass his class or not. We only have 3 major grades in the class which are the midterm, observation report, and final. All 3 are graded really hard so it gives you little room to make mistakes. Don't take him if you want a good grade in Political Science.
Flower's class was extremely and unnecessarily difficult. I would not recommend his class to my worst enemy due to his condescending tone and rude behavior in class. He has called out students for asking questions and has even called them names. If you genuinely want to learn anything about political science, please take a different professor.
He is very lecture heavy and you have a total of 3 grades. So you must pass everything!
This is the worst class I have ever taken. You have lectures twice a week and all he tells you are these three things: read the syllabus, come to class, and write down everything I say. He gives you no work to help you get familiar with the information he is just throwing at you. He grades you on three things. Midterm, final and a 10-page paper.
Please do not take his class. Worst professor and a very hard grader. The class average for the midterm was a 60 and he said that was good. He is very rude and rambles in his lectures. He does not take accountability and does not care if his students pass. There are only 3 major grades in the class, so you have no room to mess up.
This is the first time I have ever failed class. I took at least 4 pages of notes on every lecture and binged the lectures the week before the final and midterm and still failed bout. Tested on topics broadly discussed with super specific hypothetical questions. Setting you up to fail. Midterm average was a 60 and he said that was good.
Dr. Flower is one of the worst professors I have ever taken and I mean that with no exaggeration. We had 2 tests (midterm and final) and an 8-10 page observation report on a court meeting. Not only do we have only 3 grades for the whole semester, but he is an extremely hard grader. We had 3 extra credits, but they don't help your grade much at all.
Worst professor I have ever had. Gives out a midterm final and a large paper over a court case. Teaches about whatever comes to his mind. Says the only way to pass is if you write down everything that comes out of his mouth. Awful teacher.
I would not recommend this class to anyone. I'm normally really good at history and government but the way he teaches is not cool. He teaches super broadly and more rambles during lectures than go over concepts. His tests are super specific and are full of hypothetical questions. Tests are open note but the notes and book do not help. DO NOT TAKE!
You have 3 grades. Midterm, final and an 8-10 page report. The tests are open notes but they will not help. He makes you write down everything he says, but makes hypothetical questions up for the test. You get 3 extra credit assignments but they do not help much, and he grades them harshly. Do not take a class from him, you will not pass.
Not the best professor but a good person! There are only 3 grades the entire semester! If you want to succeed, dont take this class!
Dr. Flower is a very tough grader, yet he gives no direction on the few assignments he gives. He is very rude, and does not care about the success of his students. A 60 average on our midterm was considered good to him. Our TA said that only a few students are doing well out of the 120 in my class. Over fifty kids dropped, wish I did the same.
Im sure Dr. Flowers is a nice guy but his class was actually terrible for me and for a lot of other students this year. He just tells us to read the syllabus and too write down everything he says. We only have 3 grades. The midterm and final are made up of questions that are TOO specific and irrelevant. Everyone is constantly confused.
This is my worst grade I've ever gotten in any class throughout my whole life. Lectures only, 3 grades for the entire semester, Test questions are hypothetical and can only be backed by his own answer. He says to write down everything he says, and goes off topic a lot. The material he teaches is very vague, and he barely allows time for reflection.
I managed to get A in the course, but I would not recommend this professor!
Theres barely any grades just test!! Hes one of the worse professors that I ever had in my opinion.
He was a decent professor, but I was superseded that I even got a B in his class.. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
He gives heavy lectures, but they aint helpful. I would not take him for as long as he continues to teach.
I wished I have never taken this professor !!
I managed to get a A, but Im gonna tell you its a tough class because of the professor does not know how to teach ...
He may be a tough professor but study guide is basically the test
literally does not care about you at all! DO NOT TAKE Him
This class is like a horror movie, when it comes to grades!!
This class was a joke. The midterm and final were basically the only grades in the class, and they were take home tests that we had a week to do.
Im dropping out of his course rn !!!
By far the worse professor that I ever had as a freshman!!
I dont know why I took this course with this professor ... I completely agree with yalls comment about this professor
Please DO NOT take this professor, he is not understanding at all with the pandemic and teaches as if we are in person and is under the influence that we will still learn the same. He doesnt give study guides or reviews he just tells us to write down everything he says and thats impossible because he gets off topic a lot.
This class was online, and there were no reviews or studys guides which made this class really hard!! I would not take him again!! CHOOSE A ANOTHER PROFESSOR !!
I dont know why this professor received so much negative response, until I took him this semester !!
I managed to get a B in the class, but still hes one of the worse professors that I ever had!!
I wouldnt recommend taking him if you get distracted easily and cannot take GREAT notes. He doesnt record his class which doesnt help. He only grades you on a midterm, final, and a project
This is one of the worst professors you could take. He only talks in his lectures and when you ask too many questions he calls you out for it. If you ask a question dont expect an answer because all he will say is "It's in the syllabus". This was a online class, but he made it harder than he had too. He says your tested on what he says but your not
I wouldnt recommend taking him if you get distracted easily and cannot take GREAT notes.
I can't tell you how many times I've cried because of this professor.
This is the worse professor that I ever had ever since I transferred !!
If youre gonna take this class just be prepared for the worst. Seriously.
Avoid Professor Flowers's class. If you want to be successful in American Govt. sign up for someone else's class. Flowers is not respectful. He answers all questions with sarcasm. He does not represent KSU in a positive way. Just be extra careful.
So not many freshmen like this class, but I've taken a couple college classes and this one was far from the hardest. Professor Flower is very strict and sarcastic. Don't take this class if you ask a lot of questions or get distracted easily. Don't buy the books because they're not on the tests. DO WELL ON THE OBSERVATION REPORT & EXTRA CREDIT!
Professor flowers is NOT a horrible teacher, the truth is that hes a great teacher who made everything understandable and relatable. Most of the students didnt care and would joke around in class. Take detailed notes (word for word), do the extra credit, and complete the minimum 8 page observation report. The readings assigned for Fridays help.
I dont know whats going on with the excessive one star reviews, but Professor Flower was very good. I didnt love the 3 assignment format, but the assignments were very easy for anyone that actually cared at all. People just didnt like him because they actually had to earn their grade (as they should). Great teacherand very funny.
Wouldnt recommend him as a professor !!! Chose someone else
This is one of the worst professors you could take?! I highly recommend incoming freshman to take some else than him!!
Professor flowers is a horrible teacher!
The midterm and final were basically the only grades in the class
Lectures were long and off topic. There are 3 assignments: midterm, final, and a 10 page min. observation report. He said if you show up and take notes everyday you will do very well in this class. That was not the case for me. I showed up everyday and took so many notes and barely survived with a C. Dont take him if you want an easy class.
Wouldnt recommend this professor, it was tough !!!
By far this is the toughest class that I have ever taken !!!
Im really glad that I have dropped this course !!
Way too hard of a teacher to say it's a gen ed class. Absolutely NO powerpoints or class handouts. Attendance not mandatory as part of the curriculum, but if you miss a single class, you will miss super specific questions on tests because it's all verbal lectures. Rude and condescending professor, treated everyone in my class like children.
This man was unbelievable. He did no PowerPoints, only verbal lectures that he went too quick with. He only had 3-4 grades in the class all in which were extremely difficult. Even if you took good notes, you'd still have difficulty with the materials on the tests. He's rude to his students and doesn't respond to emails. Do NOT take this class!
Do NOT take this Professor !!!!
The class was hard. Only 3 grades, midterm, final and an observation report. Do good on the report and you will pass. I had 60's on both tests but ended the class with a B. Also DO ALL EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES YPU RECIEVE. You get up to 10 points on each extra credit. Its a lifesaver too.
This class was way harder than it needed to be. There are only 3 grades: midterm, final, & observation report. He lectures verbally every class. You only have your notes to go off of, and even with good notes the exams are still difficult. Very vague with directions, and will refer you to syllabus for EVERY question. Would not reccomend.
There are only 3 grades for this class and it is VERY lecture heavy so be ready to pay attention. He mentioned several times to write down everything he says. I enjoyed his lectures, he is very funny. This class was very stressful but if you put in the work youll be fine.
Dr. Flower bases the midterm and final questions directly off of what he says in the lecture word for word. There are only 3 grades for the entire semester: The midterm, the observation report, and the final. If you attend all of the lectures and complete and take notes on the reading assignments you will do good on the final and midterm.
Dr. Flower's perfect for a busy schedule. Two fifty minute classes a week and tests are entirely based on lectures; don't waste money on books. Two tests and a report. Tests arent terrible if you pay close attention in class and take good notes. Report is 50% of your grade, put effort into it and DONT procrastinate. Extra credit is worth it.
I dont understand why there some positive reviews when you know this professor is not the best professor for American government!!
Dr. Flower was not a great teacher. He wasnt very biased with his politics and tending to ramble on about issues that didnt really mean anything to the course topics. His class consisted of 3 grades: A Midterm(open book),Observation Report(8+ page paper) and final(closed book, lockdown). Assignments were simple. The class was easy, terrible prof.
I withdrawal from this course because you are graded by few things and the test is 10x harder if you don't pay attention..
I got COVID and he refused to tell me what I missed in class and was basically like well that sucks. Not a good professor and honestly a very rude guy definitely dont like and done recommend !!
This professor is rude and the test is your overall grade!!
Do yourself a favor and take ANY other professor. All he does is brag about himself and his achievements. Only lectures and just 3 grades. (Midterm, final, observation report). Hes not a bad guy he should have just stuck to being a lawyer.
Save yourself, and take someone else!
Do not take this professor. Lecture is a waste of time. But if you don't show up, you won't pass. He gives so much unnecessary info in lectures & you can easily get confused on what notes you should actually be taking. Only 3 grades in the entire course. He said it himself that he does not care about ratings, so that should tell you everything
I recommend taking someone else because this professor does not care at all!
Do not take this professor. There are only 3 grades you will get, a midterm, 8 page paper, and a final. He also does not post grades or ANYTHING. You will never know what you make on the paper or the final, only the final grade for the class. He tests on "current events" which can sometimes be a one-liner that sounds irrelevant but is on the test.
His lectures are interesting but you have to come to class. Only has midterm, final, and observation report. Tests are very easy, as long as you came to class, and he lets you use notes. Doesn't use textbooks. He won't respond to emails except during class days and doesn't give your grade back for the final or observation report.
This class was not easy, I recommend going to class and take all the notes that you can possibly can!
Svae yourself and take someone else!
Really don't understand how this guy has 3 out of 5 stars still. He didn't upload the courses' syllabus until two weeks into the semester, doesn't give you feedback on the three assignments your grade depends on, and is insufferable. Definitely the worst professor I have taken here so far. Save yourself before it's too late and take someone else.
Do not take this class, this professor only grades on observation report and tests!
Tests are very hard, even if you write down everything he says you still end up barely passing !
This is no easy class, but read the textbook before taking the test on each chapters! There's only test and a observation report..
Do not take this professor. There are only 3 grades you will get, a midterm, 8 page paper, and a final.
There is literally nothing good to say about this professor. He is so rude and refuses to help his students.
There is literally nothing good to say about this professor.
I don't understand why there some positive reviews on this professor, he only grades on observation case and test!
I withdrawal from this course because you are graded by few things and IF YOU DON'T PAY ATTENTION, YOU FAIL!
Please don't take this professor. The class itself isn't *that* bad, but Flower is just not a good person. He is just rude, and clearly doesn't care about students.
Do not take this professor!! He does not care about his students..
By far the worst professor that I had!
He is rude and does not care for any of students!!
You will never know what you make on the paper or the final!
I'm glad I dropped out of this course because he only grades you on test and a observation report.
I took this class because I was up for a challenge but this professor does not care about his students!
There's only a midterm, final exam, and a observation report!
This professor is rude but the course is easy if you pay attention.
Save yourself some time and do not take this guy. He makes the course sound so easy when in reality, even taking notes on every single word he says is barely enough to pass his 2 tests. While he does give you extra credit, it doesn't justify his tests being that difficult.
This is the worse professor that I have taken for American Government!
Take someone else who is kind, this class is easy but the professor is so rude!
One of the worst professors to even teach this course!
Just take someone else!!
Im glad that I least made a B in this course !!
He only grades you on three assignments and wont give you the grade for them untill posted on your transcript. Lecture heavy and wants you to write down everything he says.
He literally expects you to write down everything that comes out of his mouth and will never repeat himself, so good luck with notes. There is also only a midterm and a final; no other grades. You won't receive any grades until your final grade is posted on your transcript, so you will never know if you are passing or failing.
Do not take this professor, I repeat do not take!
Only three assignments: 2 tests and a paper. The tests are open note and if you take good notes they're very easy. The paper is time consuming but not hard. However, he is extremely rude & won't hesitate to insult you in front of the entire class. Don't expect any extra help. Easy A if you take notes, but you need thick skin.
This professor only grades you on a midterm, final, and a report!! Take someone else who actually cares about his students!
I took this class a year ago, and I'm surprised that he is still teaching this course!! Same material, it's the Midterm, final, and an observation report. Read these reviews to save yourself the trouble.
PLEASE save yourself the time/unnecessary stress for a general ed. course and see if you can find one that's more promising. He seems cool at first and you only have 2 tests plus an observation report.. but don't be fooled. The tests are filled with anything he says during class no matter the importance. The report is purely a time inconvenience.
I took Dr. Fowler my first semester at Kennesaw, when I didn't know that ratemyprofessor was a thing, and I am so glad I didn't. These reviews don't do him justice in the slightest. I got more out of this class than any upper division level class I've ever taken because not only is he smart, but he makes you listen. I'd recommend him to everyone.
I took this course while back and this professor still has the same materials 2 test and a observation report.
I took this course while back and this professor still has the same materials.
This professor is great, but I would recommend him because theres only 2 test and a 8 page observation report. I recommend Josh Johnson for American Government.
I really liked Professor Flower, I thought his classes were very engaging and it is one of few gen ed's that I feel I got something out of. He only grades off of three things, but if you take notes you're fine. If you aren't an essay person, reconsider though as the 8 page essay is a massive part of your grade.
He will say to write down everything he says because it is on the test. However, someone in my class had done exactly that word for word and put it on a google doc. When we later went back to look at our notes after the test about 20% of the actual material that was covered in lecture was on the test. The other 80% was never covered.
Every year I come back to this page to see if anything has changed--nope. These reviews say exactly what's on my mind, so I'll leave it at this. In my class of 100 students, I was one of two to get an A. The work I put in for this grade was unimaginable. Three years later, I can confidently say that he's the worst professor at KSU. Avoid. Please.
Professor Flower is a former judge and will talk FOREVER. He expects you to write and remember everything he has talked about during the semester. I also took this course following the Covid lockdown and our final project required an in-person experience. Though it was tough, he didn't care. I don't recommend taking this course.
Kennesaw please fire this professor
Hated this professor during COVID, because he made the class harder than it should be!!
I took this class seven years ago and it is still the single class that made the biggest impression on me. His lectures are riveting and he is the sole reason I chose to major in Government. He is the only professor whose class I still think of and remember stuff I learned. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This class is no walk in the park. The professor has a specific teaching style, but engaging with it pays off. Definitely use unstuckstudy ai and the free textbook to prepare - saved me a lot of time and stress.
