Great person; he's very positive and encouraging.

Fun Teacher! He made the class interesting by breaking the class in groups so we could discuss what's behind our minds. He uses multiple choice, fill in the blank, and matching for his tests- but don't let that fool you, some of his questions are tricky. I highly recommend Mr. Hackmann.

You have to take this class, so take it with this guy. Very good personality. His methods make it easy. You do not need the book, but pay close attention to the lectures. They matter on the tests.

He made the class so easy. You don't have to buy a book. Before I took his class, I had no idea how to use powerpoint. Afterwards, I was a pro. Also, he always ends class early. Since this is a class most people have to take, you might as well take it with him. HE'S AWESOME!

Great teacher, I took his class in the spring so it was condensed, but it was still an interesting class. Good balance of tests and speeches. I learned a lot. Slightly difficult.

He's extremely helpful and has an easy design of his teaching and class outline. He has easy to follow instructions and lectures. I recommend this professor to all!

This guy knows how to teach his class and teaches it well. He tells you exactly what you need to do. There is no book so you have to come to the class to get the notes and know when you are supposed to show up. TAKE SPEECH WITH THIS INSTRUCTOR!

Hackmann is great. No book. He clearly tells you what you need to do, just be prepared to have your material ready a week ahead of time so he can check it. His lectures get a little long at times, what with his extremely boring stories, but I recommend him to anyone looking for a fun, easy class that is more practical than anything else.

I could write a great deal about what he does well... But everyone else seemed to cover it already. BEST CHOICE for COM classes!!!

Take this teacher! He is a great instructor and you will learn a lot from him. He is one of the best teachers I have ever taken at Washtenaw. Go to class and use what he says in your speeches and you will do great! Bruce kicks ass!

Bruce is a great guy. He is fair , understanding, and occasionally funny. A small minority of people likely will hate him because they are ignorant, intolerant, and simply don't want to be in class. If you aren't one of those people, take his class, listen and copy down his lectures, participate when he asks questions, and relax.

Bruce is a great teacher. He's so much funnier than any philosophy teacher. He's very organized and it's so great that this class has no book. I love this class.

I Love Bruce! He is awesome, I highly recommend him. He makes a 3 hr class go by quickly bc his lectures are actually interesting! His tests are everything off your notes so go to class and you'll pass!

Bruce is a great teacher. His greating is a little harsh but fair. He doesnt grade you down unless you truely need improvement in that area. I highly recommend Bruce.

Great teacher would highly recommend to anyone who is not looking forward to speech. He will help you with your speech’s before there due date. All you have to do is show up and perform. He will get back to you in a timely manner (email). I have taken many speech classes and never finished. His was so organized it was hard to fail. A+++ from me!

No text book. For that ALONE you should take his class!! Good lectures, organized presentation of material. Hey, I even learned to use Power Point in this class. Highly recommend.

Bruce is a great teacher for Speech (public speaking). Don't take him for Interpersonal Comm though. Both are an easy A, you'll get what you put into it. His Speech class taught me how do get straight A's in every class, I now have a 3.99 gpa. His methods work for essays, projects, papers, tests, presentations, everything. Wonderful funny teacher!

Always willing to explain any questions you have. Will look over your work before handing in if you give him the proper time.

Awesome professor! I don't have a huge fear of public speaking anymore. He's willing to help you if you have questions. And the absolute best perk is that you don't have to buy a book!

Bruce is really cool! I don't see how you can't get an A as long as you sow up for class.He's even willing to negotiate with you at the end of the semester as long as you have good attendance.

public speaking is scary and still is. it's perhaps a little less scary now. bruce did a good job teaching the class, his ramblings at times are absolutely hilarious. he enjoyed my seinfeld speech i could tell.

Bruce looks just like George Carlin and dresses like Jimmy Buffett, and things just go uphill from there. Class is boring, but that's the subject material more than anything. And hey, NO TEXTBOOK! Speech days are fun. Take notes, don't "phone in" your speeches, and you'll do fine.

Speech is definitely a boring class, but Bruce does an awesome job peppering his lectures with funny rants or anecdotes. I'm a very self conscious and nervous speaker but he never made me feel incompetent or "stupid" and doesn't give opinionated feedback - just straight forward constructive advice on improvement.

Bruce is a great teacher and speaker. I took my COM 101 (speech class) with him and found it to be a great semester. Bruce is very straight forward about what's expected. The speeches were fun to make and present. Take a class with Bruce Hackmann if you have a chance!

Awesome teacher, absolutely a spectacular person. He was extremely helpful at all parts of the speech writing. I feel like I am prepared to be able to present a professional speech. His humor is very much so enjoyable, and class is rarely boring, even with it being 3 hours long. He always had enthusiasm and spice in his classroom.

Bruce is a really good guy. Once you get past the corny jokes, you will get excellent guidance and information on how to properly give a speech. I use his outline technique in my other classes - show up, put some effort in, and you will be glad you took his class!

Bruce did something that I never thought would happen - he made me eager to do public speeches! His methods are easy to use. He doesn't use a textbook. He allows you to choose whatever topics you like for your speeches in class and is helpful with ideas and suggestions. A great class to take, especially in the beginning the collage career.

Bruce is great, he is very nice and wants you to do good. He has a sense of humor and tries to make it easy for you to get an A. Public speaking is not my thing at all but I have enjoyed this class. As long as you show up and try your best at your speeches you will get an A.

Bruce is AWESOME! He is very nice and helpful to everyone. I loved having the ability to choose my own topics for each speech. He doesn't care what you talk about just as long as your speech follows his guidelines. With it being a 3 hour long class, it got a little boring, but you just have to get through that part! OMG, so many sports metaphors. Painfully boring class. Easy to get a good grade, just pay any attention at all. Probably fun for people who are really into sports and that sort of culture, but not for me!

If you have to take COM 101, take it with Bruce. He is fair, very laid back, and willing to help/work with students. His class was easy as long as you followed his format for speeches. He was repetitive at times, but it really made his points stick. Be sure to take notes, he uses the material for tests and quizzes. Overall, a great professor.

For a class specifically for speeches, I actually didn't dread this class. And really he grades more on the mechanics during your speech than heavy on content. Some weeks the lectures stretched the whole three hours, but there were a lot of days we got out early. Especially presentation days. Would take this professor again.

This class was an overall easy class. I didnt study any of the criteria and still passed his tests. If you use his handouts as examples and set up ur speech outlines and PP in the same manner as what he's given you, you'll pass all the speeches. Bruce just talks ALOT and gives more bad examples than good examples on how to set up ur speech.

Bruce is a good instructor. All his class consists of is lectures and you giving presentations. He is a tough grader on the presentations but if you follow his guidelines and do all the assignments you will easily pass.

Just follow what youre told to do and you cant fail. Easy tests.

Bruce is a wonderful instructor. He helps you prepare for the real world while public speaking. He gives great feedback about what you need to work on for your next speech. He gives quizzes that are pretty simple if you pay attention in class.

Bruce is a good com professor overall. He may drag on his lectures, but as long as you show up you should be fine. Make sure to ask questions if you are confused about anything. His tests are verbatim from his lectures, so make sure to take notes when he's lecturing. Grading rubric can be confusing at first, but do the work and you should pass.

Bruce was a really great teacher . Although we got out of class early it still seemed like the lectures dragged on. I can tell hes passionate about his studies and want to make sure you know what to do to pass. But if you show up and take notes youll pass no problem.
