Very intresting lecture, tests not terribly hard but require studying, very helpful, highly recommend

Dr. Homann is the best instructor ever. I'm completely illiterate and he made me learn good.
Dr. Homann was awesome. I was semi-interested when I first started, but he helped me gain a better insight. The class was straight forward. It wasn't hard, but required a lot of studying and reading.
lectures boring. tests were hard.
I like history and have had him in a couple different classes. When he is lecturing from his own notes and not from the book it becomes a puzzle that you put together to get the whole picture. It was an amazing experience to bring both sides together. Last year he changed that and then the class just dragged on and on...

Don't take him for an online course. There's a lot of writing and research involved for such a short period. He's also one of those teachers that is SO into his subject that he expects every student to put the same amount of enthusiam into their history studies as he does. It's hard but he does make you learn!
Dr.Homann is by far the best professor I've had at AR. His classes may be hard, but they are well worth it. I learned so much, and had fun while doing it. Be prepared to study a lot for his tests.

By far the best professor I've ever had. Very intelligent, great sense of humor, tremendous integrity as an educator. Takes his job very seriously, and that's a good thing. It's not an easy class if you're not interested in History, but if you put in the effort you'll do fine.
Easily the best college professor I've had thus far. He's able to explain his lesson, yet make in understandable to the rest of the class. Very willing to help out students, and answer questions, even debate for the sake of his lesson. His class is a lot of work, but it's worth it.
Dr. Homann is tough, he demands a lot from his students and gives a lot in return. He encourages discussion in class and will explain everything in great detail if you want. I would recommend him definitely.
This is a real class, you will work & do what the course schedule says or you will hate this guy. His personality makes up for his being a hard ass.
He teaches at an uncompromising difficulty level, but as long as you study on your own you'll do fine. His lectures are some of the best I've had, and the amount I learned from them about History actually had an impact on my life by changing my worldview. High reccomendation, if you can handle the workload.
He's a really nice guy and he is so willing to help out his students. Don't take his class as a joke because you really have to study. His motto for every 1 hour of class expect 2 hours of homework.
I LOOOOOOVE Dr. Homann. He is the nicest professor ever, if you're nice to him and respectful. His class is very difficult, but he's more than willing to offer help outside of class, and he gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. Just make sure that you pay attention and ask lots of questions.
He's very helpful and good. His lectures are amazing.
I had this guy for two history classes several years ago and I still feel the need to comment on him. He is by far the most difficult professor I've ever had. However, if one does the reading and follows his guidelines, the amount of knowledge gained in his classes is amazing. Take one of his courses and see how good it is. He's a hilarious guy.
He knows pretty much everything there is to know about the history of Britain. You HAVE to read the text and show up to class or you won't do well in the class. He is very direct and upfront with what you need to do. If you do everything, you will get an A. He is one of my favorite professors at AR.
He's hilarious and extremely interesting! The amount of knowledge you gain is amazing!
A Difficult class, but not impossible. Bruce Homann is an amazing teacher whose knowledge far surpasses his current position. Lectures are great, humorous, memorable, and extraordinarily informative. He is easily accessible and far easier going than he lets him self off to be. i highly recommend this class despite its difficulty its truly worth it.
Dr. Homman is the best professor I have ever had! His lectures are very interesting and hilarious! He is very tough and expects a lot from you, but he is also very willing to help. I hope to take another one of his classes. :)
Great teacher and has really good lectures. He is VERY hard though! Do NOT take him if you're looking for an easy class with little work! He is very helpful though and knows his stuff!
He's a good teacher but his class is fairly difficult. You have to read the text books numerous times to do well on the quizzes. What he talks about in his lectures will not help you on the quizzes/midterm/final if you dont read. He does offer a lot of extra credit though.
He Is an extreamly hard teacher. His lectures don't have to do with what is on the test. The only reason you need to attend class is to take his quizes. He's really nice but what he talked about in class often wasn't on the tests/ quizes.
Bruce is an extraordinary professor. His lectures will sometimes go off topic but the stories he tells are relevant and very good examples regarding what is being taught. I will always remember his class. Reading can not be avoided and attendance is not mandatory but if you miss a class you will miss a lot of information. Hard work for an A.
Seriously one of the most challenging teachers I ever had,its all worth it though. Hes very intelligent and pushes students to make their own connections rather than just repeating the information. Won't pass unless you read the book and doing the extra credit will be way benificial. It was rewarding to take his class.
Awesome professor! Highly recommend doing extra credit, but the class is one of the best I have ever taken. Dr. Homann is hard, but is always willing to help, and he has amazing lectures! If you make an effort to do well (READ THE BOOK!!), study hard for his exams, do the extra credit, and ask questions, you will do just fine and learn a ton. :)
I took mid-evil and ancient history with him. This class is Very hard. The lectures are really cool but nothing pertains to the quizzes. He offers a ton of extra credit but after every assignment you have to meet with him so that he can critique it. There is a major report/group project that is to be done, and final is on those projects as well
I didn't like him at all. The most boring class I have ever been in. But I went everyday because he gives extra credit if you show up everyday not late. He gives a lot of extra credit out. But his quizzes are extremely difficult. He only gives two tests-they are pretty easy cause he tells you what to study but you need to study ALOT!
Took Ancient to Midevil British History. He's one of the hardest teachers I've ever taken. I'm an extremely lazy person and I feel as though he whipped me into shape. I hated the class, but I would take him again! He's hard, but the training is well worth it. I learned alot. Also, he looks like an older Niel Patrick Harris.
Bruce Homann is a truly great teacher, the kind that cares about the students and gives them the faith that they can do what they set they're mind to. He's smart and pushes his students.. this is the best teacher I've ever had and even though I got a D (my own fault) I learned so much in his class. History and what I could personally accomplish
I did not like the profesor. He required us to be in class, but what he taught had nothing to do with what was on the test. He never used the text book, yet the test was only out of the text book, which didn't make any sense. He wasn't a very understanding teacher. Would never take him again. There a lot of better teachers out there.
You will not get an A, unless you plan on spending 30 hours a week outside of class. YOU WILL NOT GET AN A!!!!!!
dont expect to ease through this class. he will stress reading. READ YOUR TEXT BOOK. he tests on things that he lectures on and things in the book. expect to work in this class. hes a fun guy and keeps it interesting, although he does go off on tangents often (usually relevant)
He doesn't really teach, he stands at the front of the room and rants about history. No slideshows, he hardly ever writes anything on the board, and is very pompous. If you love history, do not have him. Take it with someone else. I got a B+ and I still would not take his class again.
Absolutely horrible professor. Had him my first semester of my first year of college. Test questions are completely based off of text book but does not include textbook info in ANY of his lectures. Literally counted every word of a paper and made student redo because it was 3 words under the word minimum. Absolutely ridiculous professor.
Really liked the class, but hated the proffesor. Read your book, dont be late, and dont go to his office, all he ll say is you need to work harder and spend more time studying
VERY difficult professor. He said some funny things in class and kept certain things interesting, but the only way to pass quizzes and tests is to write down his exact words. The project/paper was ridiculously difficult and you MUST read the textbook for quizzes. He does not talk about the quizzes in lecture. You also have to memorize dates!!
This course is very challenging, but I also learned a lot. I had to work extremely hard. Professor Hommann is an excellent professor and is willing to help, all you have to do is ask. People say this class is hard because they do not put the time and effort into it. 4cred=8hrs of studying
Very good professor. He is always willing to help. His class is hard though, but you make an effort he makes it so you can get a good grade. (Do the extra credit)....One more thing, do the extra credit. My last note is do the extra credit (Brought my B to an A)
The instructor is a great and interesting lecturer, The class is challenging, because it is a college level course, don't expect an easy history class. DO the extra credit, and you will be fine. Essay style midterm and final exam are difficult but passable. I got an A, but I TOOK TIME and READ the book thoroughly! do the same. You've been warned!
Homann is a VERY difficult professor. His lectures are interesting but most of the test material is taken out of the book. You will need to memorize everything, including exact dates to do well. If you have a light semester and want to learn a lot of history, take his courses. If you have a heavy semester and not a lot of time, you won't do well.
This class is tough as nails. You will be challenged. If you want an A you need to do the Xtra credit. My opinion to much time for to few points. So I didn't but I studied my butt off plus did all he work and just barely got a B.
Exceptionally challenging teacher. Absolutely worth it. This is college after all.
Best professor I've had so far. His class is very challenging and very demanding, but his lectures are always interesting. He is very clear of what he expects, but his expetations are high. If you are a history enthuisast like myself then I highly recommend this class. If not, I still recommend this class, because he is a great professor.
Had him for 2 class 1121 & 1141. He is an awesome professor. Homann does lectures (listen and write down now kind). He is very helpful; you will have to talk to him when you need it. Very funny. Offers extra credit. Both classes required a group presentation. Quizes, & tests are worth the most. Read the book. Outlines are helpful. Don't be late!
I had Dr.Homann 6 or 7 years ago for two history courses. He is by far the best professor I had. His lectures were engaging, his stories were amusing, and he challenged and encouraged his students. It was not easy but it was fun. I wish I still lived near AR so that I could take the rest of the courses he offers.
Very arrogant. Loves to hear himself talk. Don't take any other classes while taking his or you will have no time to do anything else. Makes you feel dumb.
Hardest teacher you'll ever have. Class takes EXTREME dedication, will take countless hours to get a B or higher. Hard quizzes, ridiculous tests, project is unbelievable. Awesome teacher, very knowledgeable, but please, take a different class.
Crazy rules about attendance and phones. Quizzes are extremely challenging. 2 tests that are way too hard and he gives no time to study for them. He expects you to know everything, when in reality you feel like you know nothing. You never know what you're supposed to study. He changes his mind about dates and other facts. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.
He might have been a hard teacher when it comes to what he expects you to know, but if you really want to learn and also develop good study habits definitely take his class. This is a college class and he expects you to want to read and study and retain information at a college level. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY WISH TO LEARN!
Mr. Homann kept some of the lectures interesting. He was very clear on what he expected of you. I received an A, however, I read the book carefully. The quiz's aren't to hard as long as you read the textbook. In addition, he does give out extra credit, which I don't recommend doing because he doesn't offer a lot of points for it.
Great class. Interesting teacher. Knows his stuff. Good sense of humor. He can be tough, very strict as well. As long as you do what is expected of you, which he makes very clear and not confusing at all, you'll do just fine in his classes. Would definitely recommend.
Terrible class, usually get A's and ended up withdrawing, he offers little to help and is very arrogant. Quizzes are tough and the exams are completely essay and nearly impossible. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS unless its your only class, It is very time consuming especially if you're expecting a decent grade.
Ready to withdraw this close to the end of the semester. SUPER COCKY. Plays favorites and if you're not one he will be condescending and make you feel stupid. Treats you like a child. Very rude. The attendance policies are ridiculous. Class itself is good if you do what you're supposed to, but he makes me want to file a complaint with the school.
not hard to get along with, just that the material is pretty difficult, offers a good amount of extra credit
He isn't the best, but he isn't the worst. He just gives lectures and that's about it. But he does provide numerous extra credit opportunities, like attendance. He provides study guides for midterm and final exam. That helped a lot. You can either write a paper of do a group project. Bit boring, but definitely would take him again.
Dr. Homann is an awesome professor. If you attend class and participate in the discussions, you'll have no problem passing. Some of the previous bad reviews are not accurate nor fair.
I felt as if attending classes were a waste every time. He hardly taught us a thing that would be helpful on the tests/quizzes. The only way to do good in this class is to read and memorize every annoying detail of the textbook. I love history; but he succeeded in bringing out the parts that I hate and leaving out the fun. Really no help to me.
I took a class with professor Homann for credits. The class was very tough and his material he lectured about was very tough and confusing to understand. I would not take a class with him unless it is your last option.
This class is difficult, but if you read AND study the test and ask questions when you do not understand something, you will do well. He will give you many ways to study, especially if you ask. If you feel like you're not doing well, go to his office hours, HE WILL HELP YOU. If you work for it, you will succeed.
The worst professor I have ever had. Doesn't respond to emails and doesn't help you during his office hours. Do not take this class unless you absolutely have to.
This is a class that you need to actually study hard to do well. Took it awhile back and wish that I had looked more into it before taking it. Tests are really hard unless you study hard. Wish there had been alternatives to his presentationsresearch paper assignment. The class is mainly just lectures. I did learn alot more about history though.
The most ignorant and inconsiderate teacher I have ever met. I was under the impression that being a teacher required respect and knowledge but this man redefines the word teacher as something corrupt and unintelligible. In a life of no regrets, meeting this man is my one.
This professor is extremely arrogant. He loves to hear himself talk, which is apparent in the class length. Three and a half hours listening to him ramble on with only two five minute breaks. His notes are extremely unorganized; he has no slides and no D2L site. He gives extra credit opportunities, but not worth many points. Horrible teacher.
I would never take one of Bruce Homann's classes again. He hasn't presented any information to us he has just given assignments. He is arrogant and makes you feel stupid if you can't find the right information. Don't take this class if you don't want to teach yourself.
The class I took with Bruce Homann was 3 credits, and I had more work form his class than I did my 5 credit class. He expects his students to go to great lengths to complete his assignments.
He does have a very tough class, but if you do the extra credit and study hard (I made my own study guide) for his mid-term and final, you should do well in his class. Beware, his room is ridiculously messy and you better hope he doesn't lose any of your papersextra credit. His quizzes though are hard and can have very random specific questions.
Homann is arrogant and does not have a clear outlines to his lectures. He does not provide any guidance to taking notes and just rambles on. Unless this is the only class you are taking prepared to be very stressed when midterms and finals come. I did not learn anything from this professor and had to teach myself.
I'm an A student and despite that I'm walking away with a C. All of my quizzes were A's and B's. My midterm was downgraded because despite describing exactly what he was asking for, the exact term wasn't stated, my other grades are unknown because unless you sit down with him and have him sift through your papers he does not have them calculated.
Dr. Homann is one of my least favorite professors that I have ever had (and that's a lot coming from a Junior). He is unclear, does not answer my questions, does not post grades (online class), he is impersonal, and his teaching style is limited to one learning style. Do not take a class with him if you can manage. He will be your worst nightmare.
Zero lectures, zero feedback just ready To give ya bad grade! How does he teach us? Here's book, Write a ton about it, learn nothing of whether your interpretation of it is on The right page. Awful experience of a class and I never rate teachers, but had to voice this one. Thanks for nothing but charged tuition! He must been on vacation all summer

He is a wonderful teacher, but has a personality that can rub students the wrong way. At first, I really didn't like him but he has quickly become one of my favorite teachers. He will never hand you a grade, you have to work for it and he treats the class like an university class. Be sure to ask questions, you can learn a lot from him.
Bruce is one of the best professors I have ever had. That said, his classes are certainly not a cake walk. Be prepared for in class hand-written essays for the midterm and finals. He will give you everything you need to pass, but you will need the drive and motivation to be there and listen intently, take good notes and have a positive attitude.
Basically everything you learn in the class is learned on your own with the textbook. His lectures are long, have no structure, and he gets sidetracked ridiculously easy. He's arrogant, and thinks your life revolves around his class. He gives online quizzes; you get 2 tries, but you can't check your answers so you don't know what you got wrong.
Hard to talk to and calls out students in class. Expects you to read each chapter at least 10 times and the quizzes have nothing to do with what is taught in class. The midterm and final are all lecture and includes a 3-5 paragraph essay and multiple short answer questions.
Worst professor ever! Do not take one of his classes. I passed the midterm & final with an A, but I had no life. Quizzes are ONLY on reading, midterm and final are ONLY on lectures. He rubbed me the wrong way from the start. I dread going to class, but if you dont you WILL fail. Show up late and youre not allowed back in class until after break
Tests are based on reading
Least favorite professor. Not an easy class, no clarification, even if you ask for help. No tools for success.
I only took this class because I needed it for history. The midterm and the final are that hardest thing ever. They consist of a essay (at least 4 pages), identifications (at least 40 to 50 of them and you need to know everything, especially the year), and on the final is also has multiple choice questions from the projects presented in class.
He's a tough teacher and don't take your phone out
Never take one of his classes. I rather learn from a rock. He never gives homework, and his quizzes are impossible. He is not willing to help you. Expect to read each chapter about 20 times if you want to understand a little. If want to fail a class or possibly get a D- take one of his courses.
this class was very hard. dont take his clss unless you want to spend hours upon hours of reading. he is very arrogant and thinks hes the smartest coolest person ever. There were about 8 TIMED quizzes(never enough time). midterm and final were essays ready hard to study for. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS
Terrible teacher! Rude to students and is NOT willing to help. Went in to have him check over a group project to make sure we were doing it correctly and just got scolded the whole time. Isn't there for most of his office hours, but requires you to meet him once. ONLY lectures, group project sucks, finals very hard, BE PREPARED! You'll have no life
Please DO NOT take any of his classes! He is horrible! If you do take him, make sure you put your phone away before he even enters the class!!!!! I got called out on having my phone out right when class started and I was LITERALLY putting it away at that exact moment and I lost all opportunities for extra credit and I was also failing at the moment
Assigns group projects, which aren't bad, but he is very tough grader. He also has timed quizzes with suck. He thinks he is the coolest person, he is a hard, stuck up, always right teacher. "Dr Homo-an" is the worst teacher I've had no doubt. Very hard to do good, must read so much, and he is very confusing due to 2 hour long lectures every class.
Don't dare call him anything but Dr. Homann I got a D in his class. He was very rude. He thought he was so cool. He expected you to read a lot and remember what the weather was like, what the person was wearing, how old they were, what color eyes they had. Honestly he was the worst professor I could have ever had. I cried every time I had class.
This is the worst class I have ever taken. He only gives a midterm and a final, I spent 10 hours studying for the final and didn't even finish half of the study guide. Online quizzes every week with 20 minutes for 30 questions, and his lectures have no structure. He's very arrogant and if you call him anything besides Dr. he will not respond.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He is rude, his quizzes are extremely specific & he chooses anything within a forty page chapter to put on his quizzes that feels like choosing. Our midterm is all writing. He's extremely harsh on attendance. If you cant memorize everything and anything the book or he says, then don't take this class.
This was by far the worst instructor I have ever had. He does not allow laptops in class. The work load is more than a 4 credit class. He makes you buy a $100 book for extra credit assignments. His lectures and instructions are broad and unorganized. This class was a constant stress. I was receiving a passing grade and I withdrew.
You will have to do the extra credit to pass this class. Exams are all in essay form, cumulative, and there is no direction on what to study. "You are responsible for every chapter covered in the book and every word said in lecture". He's a D and thinks he's funny. No electronics in class including tape recorders or laptops.
He was super scary! Studied 3 days for the midterm and only got a C because it had to be so specific.
Very hard to talk too. No leeway. Not supportive. Sets students up for failure.
Dr. Homann was probably one of the rudest professors I have ever had. If you ask him a question he will make you feel like an idiot for not knowing the answer and he is a really hard grader. If you can help it don't take this professor it was the hardest class I have ever taken. I do not recommend this professor unless you have a photogenic memory.
I was scared to come to class sometimes. no phones allowed! doesn't put anything in the gradebook, midterm and final are essay exams. His lectures aren't relevant to the topic half of the time. TIP: do the extra credit and read the chapters! There's a quiz online 30 questions for 20-25 minutes about every other sunday. Good luck!
He is really funny but ends up lecturing all class period. we watched a movie once. he really helps get people ready for midterms and finals ( He makes a study guide depending on what the class chooses). And he offers TONS of Extra Credit. There is a 30 question quiz every sunday. He is fun but tolerates no phones or talking/distractions.
He knows what he is talking about really well, so ask questions. He gives you everything you need for the test on the study guide and also has lots of room for extra credit (gives up to 100 points and has 4 ways to get points).
The lectures do not have anything to do with what is on the quizzes and tests. Does not let you out early if he's done with the lecture, he will ramble on until the end of the class. Very hard grader. Super specific. Do the extra credit.
I did not enjoy this class. Mostly because it was after 3 other classes and was 3 and a half hours long. If you're going to take this class: show up everyday, start project early and stay on top of it, start studying for the midterm & final AS SOON as u get study guide, asks questions, AND DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!!!!
This professor was one of the worst I have ever had. He does not seem to even care if his students pass or not. Lectures have almost nothing to do with the readings assigned. I would never take one of his classes ever again.
If you are thinking about taking this class just know there is a lot of reading you don't necessarily need to do but you should, and extra credit. A lot of this class is up to your responsibility and directions are not always clear. It's up to you to figure it out/ask. I do think he is nice and cares about his students, but he is intimidating.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS he is an extremely difficult grader. The only reason I am doing good is because I am doing the extra credit. The midterm and final are essay tests and he gives you 40 or so terms to memorize but you'll only have to know 5. He lectures the whole entire period but all the quizzes, everything off of the book not what he says
Overall he knows what he is teaching but you really need to pay attention. No assignments but reading on your own is necessary. Lots of extra credit is available through the semester. Quizzes are online about once every two weeks, one midterm essay and a final. He is a tough grader and very intimidating but he is willing to help out.
Dr. Homann does a good job of working through the material. He says initially that he's a discussion based class, but you'll quickly find that he's extremely lecture heavy. Do NOT miss this class unless you can get the notes from someone else. Do not wait to do your presentation.
This was one of the most boring classes I have ever sat through. 60 hours later and I know only who ghenghis khan is. Homann is a nice person out of class, but has strict ideas of what he want on mid terms and finals. It is so important that you study for his mid term and final. 18 students out of our 30 got a D on the mid term, and only 2 A's.
He is very lecture heavy. Almost everyday he would come into class and start lecture and not stop lecture til the very last minute. Doesn't seem to care much about any of his students passing and no cell phones allowed. Wouldn't ever take again. Large project due which is a lot of points. Midterms and finals are very hard make sure to study!
Seems to not care about students success, just his career. Very arrogant and not very understanding. The book sometimes doesn't match the lecture and then both answers are on the quizzes and he wont clarify what is correct. There is a quiz every Sunday and you only get I believe it was 10 minuets for a 20 question quiz. Good Luck if you have him!
Papers due every week, tough grader. Make sure you reach word counts, he does check. If you fail to reach word count you fail the assignment.
He is tough grader. you fail assignments if you don't reach word count. you have to be specific on everything. not the best teacher.
Really good teacher but the class is so hard. You have to study almost every night just to pass. Also DO NOT miss the chances for the extra credit, they help very much.
Super hard teacher. He lectures with no powerpoint, he expects you to read the chapters before coming to class and the chapters can be up to 25-30 pages long. He grades differently than other professors. If student comes to class a minute late, they are forced to stay outside of class until break. And does not get attendance points if late.
He's a great teacher, but you really gotta work for it. The awesome part is that you gives you exact instructions and requirements for everything done in class. He's always ready to help and make sure you succeed. We had some fun times joking around with him in class. You'll like his class if you put into effort. Also do not put off the midterm
Only gives you 22:00 on a 30 question quiz, nothing related to what you read.. quizzes are HARD
I would not recommend anyone to take his class, even though I got B in his class, I totally regret taking it. He is smart but he is awful professor. Doesn't know how to communicate with students and how to handle them. Awful with grading and cell phone policy.
In this class you will write a paper every single week & then take a quiz. Nothing changes, extremely boring-even if you like history. You will not pass the quizzes if you dont do the reading. He pulls the most minute, random info for quizzes. Theres no use in studying, just hope you can flip through the pages fast enough. Worst class ive taken.
Dr. Homann is very smart, but this makes the students feel stupid when we dont know the answers to what he thinks are easy questions. He has some availability to help with this difficult class outside of class, but again I just feel worse after asking. Lectures are long and on paper without a ppt. Not the type of class for me.
He was a very tough professor and graded ruthlessly. He did not provide rubrics or many requirements for his papers and assignments. Yet he would grade off of hidden criterion that was never stated in the syllabus. Hes too hard on the students and seems to just copy and paste his courses every year and doesnt change with time.
DO THE OUTLINES FOR EXTRA CREDIT AND SHOW UP TO ALL THE CLASSES. If you show up everyday and do not miss your extra credit points will be doubled. This bumped by B to an A. You can literally sleep through his lectures . They don't even cover wants on the weekly quizes and barely anything on the midterm/final. This class is very time consuming.
He is kind of condescending and just overall a bummer to be around. He doesn't give many second chances. Nothing is really ever his fault and he doesn't help make the transition from high school to college any easier. Only good things I can say is that he did offer a lot of extra credit- it is a lot of work though. His lectures are long and boring.
Seems like a good person. I took his contemporary world history online class. You will have weekly "discussion posts" where you'll write 400+ words and comment on other people'. You'll also have Exams 1-3 and the Final exam where you write pages of material of history. ALL HE CARES ABOUT IS DATA. Don't bother with your own ideas, cite facts!!!!!!!!
Dr. Homann is very rude toward his students and refuses to understand extenuating circumstances when missing class, even if you keep up and do good on all of the quizzes/tests he will still dock your grade 50 points. Also the lectures are very boring, he once spent 2 hours on medieval towns and their walls
Worst teacher ever. He was so rude, super tough and super boring. He stand in front of the class and talk for the whole time and no one knew what he was saying. The midterm and final are actually impossible so good luck. There is also quizzes as homework and you better now skip them or you will fail. There is a presentation that is so hard. AWFUL!
Only take this class if it is required and try to find another teacher, he should be a last resort. In his online class he did not lay out what was expected of us, no rubric, and very vague advice. When asking him questions he responds in a tone that makes he few stupid, which doesn't make you want to ask anymore questions.
Bruce is a smart guy and very knowledgable on what he teaches. But in this class you only get graded on your midterm exam, final exam, and weekly quizzes. The weekly quizzes are supposed to be on the chapter for that week but literally like half the questions weren't in the textbook or he didn't mention in his lectures. Definitely do NOT recommend.
Do not take online classes with this professor! He only cares about word counts and is extremely unclear about his expectations for the class. He grades weekly papers on a pass/fail basis but will not put anything in the gradebook, so you never know how you are doing in the class. His tests were terrible and based on an entirely different textbook.
(B)This man is controlling about the smallest details and it was (O)degrading to me. I never left (O) this class feeling good, (M)mostly Just angry (E)and shocked. (R). I dont recommend this class to female or anyone who doesnt want to feel less-than. P.S. every question must be handwritten and phones a fail
Seems to be very condescending. Not clear on instructions. insensitive.
Doesn't post assignment grades or give any feedback. Claims that if you want to know grades you should read the syllabus. The syllabus itself is not clear on assignment grading criteria. Assignments are given on very short notice with only days to complete them. Virtually zero interaction with students besides posting discussion threads.
The amount of work you have to do for only 3 credits is absurd, it's like taking a 5 credit class. You need to work on this class every day in order to pass. He is willing to work with you, but also a VERY tough grader. It needs to be his way or it's wrong. I will say he is very knowledgeable about history, he really knows his stuff.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA. This man expects you to be a noble peace prize winning researcher. He grades as if your paper will be in the new york times magazine. I spent hours on each assignment. My papers were always long, organized, and well detailed. I received a C on every one of them. He wants you to write him a book.
I did not enjoy this class at all. This professor was difficult to work with. If you turn in assignments a day last you lose a full letter grade. He is not understanding in the slightest. When I would ask for help he would be very condescending and rude.
He expects students to do a group project (three students per group). In this project, students must write an 8-10 page paper AND do a minimum 18 minute presentation! Midterms and Finals are essay questions and final has some short answer and multiple choice. Quizzes every week. Don't be late to class. You cannot have your cell phone on.
He grades harshly and is rude when offering feedback. Most of the class went well, but if I ever reached out to him for help, he wasnt kind in his responses and acted like I should have already been an expert in this. Most of the grade was based on the midterm and final and I feel like he graded really harshly on them.
honestly he was the worst teacher Ive ever had
not helpful at all, makes me feel stupid
He was honestly the worst professor ever. He made you feel stupid when asking questions and never gave clear answers when trying to help. He does not grade things until the end of the semester so your grade is pretty much unknown. He assigns super long papers and does not help you revise them. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.
WORST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD !!! he is not helpful in any way, and makes you feel dumb if you ask a question. After you ask one you will never want to answer again. the amount of material he gives you to study for your mid-term and final is ridiculous just to test you on 5-10 of the terms including extensive detail. His lectures are horrible.
Mr. Homann is a decent choice when it comes to this course. We had a one zoom meeting a week, and one assignment a week. A quiz once every two weeks. The quiz was super easy because you had three attempts to do it and could see where you went wrong so getting 30/30 is easy. Where Dr. Homann fails is his inability to provide feedback on assignments.
Worst teacher Ive ever had. Dude sets you up to fail so good luck passing. Midterm is a joke. If you need help dont bother asking he just makes you feel like an idiot.
Overall an unpleasant experience. The quizzes focus on cherry-picked details in a textbook. He does not reveal grades of assignments (P/F) until the end. He expects midterm and final exams (minimum 1250-1750 words, but expects much more) to be written in 5-6 days during their weeks. Some assignment prompts are unclear. Avoid this course.
Worst teacher Ive ever had. The only thing in the grade book was quizzes. Quizzes were all on small print textbook knowledge. Missed one quiz due to family issues, he refused to let me retake. Minimal feedback on midterm, not clear instructions on any assignment. Assignments were pointless. Do not take him, you will regret it.
Prof. Homann was funny and nice but definitely assigned lots of work 30 pages of text book reading per week. His lectures were long and boring, but still some answers could only be learned from the optional lectures. In tests there were questions from the tiny side bars in the textbook. Grading was not very clear and did not provide clear feedback.
I have more to say that goes beyond the character limit, but to sum it up, I wish I had chosen a different professor. I don't think he's a bad guy, but the whole semester I have been unable to comprehend his expectations or grading criteria despite consulting him during office hours and asking questions. I'm just hoping I pass at this point.
Your grade is made up of like 10 quizzes and 2 longggg papers. He is a very harsh grader on those papers. every week you have a 400+ page paper to write and submit, not for a grade. Overall a lot of work and your learning happens in the research you do for those papers. Make sure you stay strict on the question and submit on time.
the worst academic experience I've ever had. grades assignments on pass/fail but does not grade them until the end of the semester. the midterm and final can be upwards of 5 pages but are expected to be written in less than 3 days. his assignments and quizzes don't test the material in the book. do not take at all costs.
I wish I knew about this website before registering for courses. I already hate history but this class just made me hate it more. You try to email him and it takes him forever to get back to you, and not to mention you never know your grade. Everything is a pass/fail basis. This is the only class that makes me regret registering for pseo. Avoid it!
He doesn't respond to you if you try to contact him about an assignment for a long time. He will not forgive you for the tiniest mistake. You never know your grade and all the assignments are Pass/Fail. He doesn't have his D2L site organized well. Every week you have to write at least a four hundred-word essay.
He was pretty fun in person not sure about online.
He is very adament about turning things in on time. However, he is hard to reach over email. I wouldn't recommend taking his classes online!
He makes you feel dumb when you ask a question about a test or homework question. He is a really stubborn grader when it came to the midterm and final. He lectures the whole class time while going very very fast. You cannot have any technology out during class. He does not have powerpoints to look at after class. I wish it woud let me type more.
Though many might find his directness frightening, his teaching methods are effective and if you apply yourself, you will leave class having learned a lot.
One of if not the worst professor ive ever had, often failed to post things on D2L (syllabus, quizzes, etc.), impossible to do late work even for family issues, and he assigns at least one 400 word essay that wont be graded every week. The only positive thing I have to say is that he is a decently nice guy.
DON'T take this prof!!!!! His class is basically just a lecture but he talks so fast it's super hard to take notes and then you leave class without remembering anything. Also he assigned an aggressive amount of reading in the textbook but if you didn't read it and actively take notes, you will be so lost for the tests, Which are brutal by the way.
Dr. Homann is a terrific lecturer if you're paying attention. His attention to detail and depth is more than nearly any college course I've taken at any college, including at the University of Minnesota after I transferred. As a history major, his class was critical in finding the depth I would need to pass at the next level.
Emailed him a month ago, he still hasn't responded, not sure how he is in person but do NOT take his class online. I have had him for a month now and he hasn't graded anything, as far as I'm concerned there is nobody even running the class.
This man is incapable of comprehending the fact that you have a life outside of work. The quizzes are cherrypicked from the book and barely even correlate to the class. Honestly if you want an A just take another professor. Really hard to understand what he wants and super vague with answers. Nice guy though.
This class is not for the weak. I am taking this class online and he will NEVER tell you when there is a quiz due, so you really have to check regularly. The quizzes are impossible to ace because the questions don't even line up with the material in the textbook. He also doesn't really ever respond to emails quickly. Very tough grader too.
I have cried almost every day over this class.
Strict grader with strict deadlines, and a lot of information. Hard to remember when new to an online class. Wouldn't recommend to people who aren't good at getting their reading done every week. You have to read 30 long pages weekly. Hard to stay on top of the work and remember the deadlines. Also, never updates grade book until final grade.
Dr Homann is very easy to connect and talk with when you are kind and value what he is saying. Make sure to READ THE TEXTBOOK!! He offers lots of opportunities for extra credit. The work is difficult but you genuinely pay attention it will be easier, plus doing the extra credit really helps.
He gave vague feedback and would say if you wanted more just email him but wouldn't get back to email for DAYS. You would basically have to ask a question the moment he posted it and maybe get an answer the day it was due. Honestly, I think the only good thing about this class Dr. Homann did was give an amnesty week to redo a few assignments.
By far the worst prof Ive ever had the displeasure of working with. His assignments are on a pass of fail bases, but he wont tell you if you passed of failed. If you ask him for feedback or if you are passing, he will simply tell you to read the instructions and won't tell you jack. He Is super vague and sends cryptic discussion posts
Worst professor ever. No rubrics for weekly papers, only gave you a grade for the final and midterm. You will have no idea of your grade until the semester. Slaved away on 3-4 extra credit assignments just to still earn a B. Notice how almost no one has an A, avoid if you can. Required to read 30 pages, assignments due Thursday rather than Sunday.
In case you haven't noticed Well, everybody's tired And healin' from somebody Or somethin' we don't see just right
This professor doesn't actually teach you anything. The entirety of this class consists of writing papers every week about an article he expects you to find online and summarize. There are no lectures, and he doesn't even bother to actually provide any feedback on the assignments you turn in. I feel lik I didn't learn anything in his class.
Avoid at all costs if you care about your mental health and grades.
This professor doesn't teach. He tells you to find an article and then write a paper on it. He also doesn't tell you your grade on each weekly essay, he just tells you to follow the guidelines in the sylabus, which aren't very clear at all. Avoid this class at all costs.
He does not give feedback or post grades until the end of the semester. He has hard deadlines and stands by them and will not reopen anything. The way his class is structured makes it very hard to learn anything and do well.
Just don't. Seriously don't.
My problem with this is that our tests aren't about his lectures but rather the book. It is as if listening to him isn't important in passing the class. But attendance matters for some reason. At least I got the extra credit.
Professor can be strict but lectures are valuable. Use resources like unstuck ai and stay on top of readings to succeed. Challenging but rewarding if you engage with the material.
When it comes between the textbook(online of physical) he doesn't go in chronological order or go by the chapters. Usually when it comes to lectures he only mentions the important parts or simply things you could easily find online. However, what you read in the text and hear In lectures mean nothing to the quizzes. Don't risk your health for this.
Don't take this class.
I highly recommend avoiding him if you can. The credits are not worth it. I love listening to him lecture but despite being on topic none of that is in the quizzes. It is supposedly all in the textbook and even if I read the textbook I would often find stuff that I didn't find in the textbook. And as I expected most of us did bad on the midterm.
The proffessor himself didn't seem too bad. I ended up writing 1000+ word essays every week even though his min. word count was 400. He didn't grade anything, we were supposed to know if we passed or not based on his grading critera. But the critera had a "good effort" which is subjective to him. Deadlines were wacky and VERY strict as well.
Came back after 2 years to tell you just don't do it.
Extremely difficult class. When 20/32 people failed the midterm he proceeded to blame the class on not studying enough. Quizzes were just random one line info cherry picked from the textbook. This class was awful and took up all my time. Don't take if you care about your grades and sanity.
Honestly don't do it. I passed it with a B by sheer will power. So much homework for one class. I have only talked to the professor literally only twice. Quizzes are 30 questions with only 20 minutes which isn't a lot. Just don't. So difficult and stressful.
For one of my first college classes I'd say that it was pretty good. I was definitely stressed because I didn't know whether or not the weekly essays I was writing were pass or fail. I wouldn't say that there was a lot of homework, only one essay a week. I really enjoyed getting to do my own research and learning on my own. Definitely student led.
Terrible. No slides and barely wrote things down for us. If you missed a day it's over for you. The group project was a lot, a presentation, a research paper, a bibliography, and a quiz. If you didn't read the textbook 2 times or memorize anything, you're not going to survive the mid-term and final. Aggressive behavior when people ask questions.
This class took up a lot of my time but was worth it in the long run!
Claimed he has lots of female students at his house. Tried to get me to come there as well.
He couldn't really care less about you, never went out of his way to help students. Harshest grader of all time, expects you to be a genius and memorize every detail of the textbook.
Dr. Homann takes pride in his achievements and expects to be called “Dr. Homann.” I had him for Ancient Medieval World History. He's easy to work with if you show interest. He gives weekly extra credit and is helpful if you ask. But if he feels you don't care, he won't go out of his way. Show effort, and you'll do well.
Worst teacher i've ever had
His lectures can be hard to understand, he likes to ramble on about things then gives us quizzes online that are completely unrelated to what we learned. READ ALL OF THE CHAPTERS!!
bad teqacher
Bro just yaps
do not take
He over the course of the semester belittled the class multiple times either over his own mistakes in the assignments or the due dates, for example one time he said "you should've known it was "A" due date not "B" due date, its clearly stated in the syllabus," even thought he messed up the due dates in D2L, he somehow blamed us for the confusion.
This is the most wicked prof I have ever had. He will make your life a living yk. He grades based on how he's feeling that day. If you don't participate in class, raise your hand, answer a question, or agree with him. You're cooked. Don't think taking notes and reading the book is enough, you need to eat, sleep, breathe that book.
Unless you are an ancient history fanatic, you are going to STRUGGLE. I'd get a C if I'm lucky enough to pass. EXTREMELY lecture heavy, and EXTREMELY hard on attendance if you do NOT attend. I wish my best regards to you if you take this course for a pre rec. - READ YOUR TEXTBOOK - STUDY FOR YOUR MIDTERM AND FINAL ASAP. - DO EXTRA CREDIT.
Create a presentation as a project grade that made me start praying to get hit by a train daily, so much material to create and use. Lectures everyday and midterm/final are heavy material to study. He takes pride in his work, however he expects you to know what he knows. If you could take anyone else.. do it
He is generally the most miserable teacher I've ever had, he did the bare minimum and just expected us to read the book to figure everything out. He is difficult to reach out to as he will just respond with something condescending and unhelpful. Find a different teacher and do NOT take any class with this evil man.
TEARS OF JOYS THAT I PASSED WITH A C. This class is the hardest class ever, I would NEVER recommend any of you guys to take this class EVER. PRAISE THE LORD, YESS GODDDDDDD
