Mr. Lebus is a very biased teacher. He makes his left wing propoganda well known. If you are interested in listening to mindless babble about global warming (which is not due to humans)and evil-money-hungry-capitalist-**** americans then take his course.
He doesn't let you get away with anything in class discussions, even if you agree with him. He forces you to support your beliefs and makes you think hard about why people believe in God. But, not a class recommended for wavering Christians.
His religion class is not for the faint of heart. No matter what your beliefs, you will have to explain them. It does seem though, that Christians are jumped on in this class, more than any other belief or religion.

He always argues against the majority, but it is to make students see other views. Always some moron in class that wants to argue with everyone else. Easy papers, and he lets you redo them. Hard final arguement paper, but overall class is discussions.
Interesting classes, makes you want to learn.
I was really looking forward to this class however things changed due to the teacher. I know Lebus means well but hes very harsh to students when they dont say something that he agrees with. His directions are not clear. i wouldnt recommend taking this class.
Likes to argue against you just to make you think. Very fair and unbiased, but won't let you state things without backing them up. The last part of the class where he interviewed people ran VERY VERY long and got quite boring. He talked to the same people day after day...YOU WILL HAVE TO THINK!
Very interesting class, he forces you to know your beliefs and explain why you follow them, WARNIG: THIS CLASS IS ONLY OFR INTELLECTUALS
Mr. Lebus is biased and if you don't say what he wants to hear, you don't get a good grade. Simple as that. Unfortunately his class was not fun, I didn't enjoy his teaching and he is very unclear. I would not recommend this class with this professor.
The most brilliant man in the world! Very kind.
Great Teacher, motivated the class, made you think
I looked forward to his class every day. He made students think, challenged them, and seemed to genuinely care about people's opinions.
I thought he was a great professor. He will challenge everything you say if you don't have solid evidence (and he may prove your evidence isn't very solid). May not be the best if you are closed minded, may seem biased. Highly recommended for intellectuals. Taking his Ethics class soon, can't wait!
Not the best teacher I have had. Maybe I was just looking for more substance. I didn't feel like I learned anything or walked away with a new look on things. Was not the best class to spend my time and energy.
This dude is awesome. If you are closed minded and do not like to think, you may disagree. but then again maybe you should not be in college in the first place. He is probably the smartest person i have ever met.
This class was a waste of time. I got nothing out of the class. Our "text" book was the OpEx section of the Star Trib, with weekly quizes about the articles. Lebus would then argue his points & views. He was always right. Students would make good points against him, then he'd move on....
I got an A in his class in the summer, but the guy pushes his agenda way to much. He does facilitate good discussion, but it is on his main topics of homosexuality and the ethics of random things like SUV's.
I think that he is a good teacher, you need to have an open mind and be willing to listen to opposing views and respect them. He pushes for reasoning behind beliefs. I consider myself a liberal open minded intellectual, but still found that he was a little harsh on the bible hardliners in discussion
Good guy but very stubborn in his opinions. If you don't agree with you he will fight you to the death. I felt like it was an argument class and not learning about ethics. Although it did make me question my own belifs it just felt like there was no way to win.
It is interesting that people are annoyed by his arguing. I think he does it on purpose to push people to think outside their comfort zones. Would you expect anything less from a philosopher?
took several classes from him, probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. He inspired me, got me to read and think about things I otherwise wouldn't have. Always available for discussions outside of class. Hilarious when slackers try to outwit him by turning it back on them. Why is such an amazing teacher hidden at NHCC?
Class was right out of Opex, but how hard is that? Saved me money! Just tell your point of view, don't get all upset and it's a pretty easy A.
Professor is very biased and closed minded to other peoples ideas and views. If you don't agree with him don't let him know, because you will get a lower grade.
Boring and closed minded professor whose depth of thought is at the sound bite level. A waste of time taking his class.
Total lack of any educational value. Difficult class, in that you have no guidelines of what is expected of you. Not an easy "A" or "B". A lot of trick questions. Very hard course for those who have English as second lanuage.
The specific purpose of this class is not for you to have your own thoughts and ideas, but rather through "guided discussions" come to the point where your leader's ideas and opinions are agreed to. It is an old trick of the socialist.
He is a pretty good teacher EXCEPT you can't have just your faith justify something!
Don't let some of these previous comments scare u from taking courses w/ Prof. Lebus. He is very intellectual, & very open minded. He is very well educated, & his main focus is if you have an argument you MUST have reasons to support it.He appreciates students who speak up & it's NOT easy b/c there r a lot of students in his class. Good luck
The purpose and intent of Lebus is not to teach or help you learn. His purpose is to turn you into good little socialist, so we can be just like the wonderful USSR. I'm sure to the uneducated he seems profound.
Typical liberal. Listens only to those who agree with him and gets angry and emotional when he's shown to be wrong. If you can think for yourself this class will be boring and a waste of time.
This is a great teacher NOT to take! Most people either do other homework or sleep in his class. If you would like to actually learn something or get a decent grade take someone else.
Easy class and can be enjoyable if your involved. His lectures:thought provoking and mostly interesting. He requires little reading(one book)and less than $10 spent on it. As far as work, you write 5-8 one page writes through the whole semester.Easy!Nothing else!Attendance is important. He can be very manipulative and definitely uses the classroom fo
If you like to be manipulated this is the class for you. Class is composed of poorly thoughtout debates and shallow concepts. There is no depth of thinking. If you want to watch people agrue than turn to MSNBC, at least their good at it.
I really enjoyed this teacher and I learned a lot. He does make you work and read different books/newspapers. I think that if you work hard and pay attention you will do good!
This teacher, though slightly biased by his naturalist beliefs, challanges mainstream thought. This class is provocative, especially for Christians. Not for the apathetic. He is more knowledgeable than people give him credit, stating that he just hates Christianity is false, he did almost go into seminary. He has a plethora or challanging ideas.
he is well-read, but all the stuff he reads has a liberal bias.usually it was fun to argue him cuz i learned more about myself and my beliefs.i always wrote papers on the opposite of what he believed and i suprisingly still got an A.i think because i researched a lot and was passionate about my beliefs.be prepared to be angry cuz he wont accept u
Poorly constructed and taught class, with no bases for positional agruements or direction. A complete lack of respect for students and their ideas and knowledge.
I hate this teacher! He was a total opposite of what he claimed to be. He forces his beliefs on his students. He wasn't very clear on his teachings and I get very frusted with him. His News Paper quiz really kills anyone from getting an "A". I don't recommend him to other students because he just doesn't like to help his students do well.
I didn't really like him too much. And his grading wasn't all that great either.
I thought he was interesting. Even though he did have his own ideas, his point was to make you see through a different view point. The newspaper OP EX quizzes were easy, since the only thing you had to do was read the OP EX section of the Star Tribune. If your a slacker then don't take this class.
The point to ethic is to get people to think outside the box. I think he did just that, although I did find it annoying when he disagrees with everything his students brings up. He is good at what he does, and I do recommend him to other students because I've learned alot from him after taken his class.
Mr. Lebus is an interesting character, that's for sure. His class is unlike any other I've ever taken. He does make you think and put some effort into your thoughts and beliefs. Some people disagree with him but he has his own beliefs and expects you to be able to defend yours. He doesn't encroach on them like others say he does. He's worth taking.
Easy class but you can not win an arguement with this guy and it is frustrating. He is extremly judgemental and expects you to agree with him and only him. Anyone who writes different is either his friend or an extreme liberal. When you corner him in an arguement, he will change subjects and makes a lot of annoying faces like he is orgasiming.
This guy is a major liberal and tries to persuade you into becoming one also through his very liberal teachings! I also think he is gay, hence the liberal side of him! He is however very good at arguing and makes you think of things in a different light.
No prof has changed my outlook on life more. classes force you to look at life from many angles, even difficult ones. Just keep your mind open and it'll be interesting at the least. Not tough to keep up, teacher is very accessable after class. fun
ok i am kinda mixed on this issue. I suppose he is doing his job but sometimes i didn't like how he didn't teach about all religions. he mainly focused on christianity and naturalism. Didn't really talk about others. Good questions that make you think but he is also stubburn in his own ways. oh well
Mr. Lebus is the best teacher I have ever had. I would recommend any of his classes. He is probably the most intelligent person I have ever met. Keep an open mind. He likes to challenge people. Don't be afraid by the negative comments of others posted here. He is respectful of others beliefs but you must defend them with valid reasoning.
Give him what he wants and you will get a A or B. plain and simple, and interact with him he enojys debates
There is not easy way to say this, but this guy will lie. I used to love to debate with him, but a few times, he was having a hard time arguing with me and would tell flat out lies in an attempt to try and twist my mind. The other thing he will try to do is change the subject. This guy is a fraud and the most dishonest person I have ever met.
Professor Lebus will constantly challenge your beliefs, so be prepared for that. This was one of the best classes I have taken at NHCC, and one of the few classes that have really made me a be better critical thinker. If you are in a career such as law, you should definately take this course just to practice your argument skills.

He is a very good teacher. Will change you beliefs on something. Most of class is discussion and there are not tests, just some papers that you have to do that are a page or 2.
Not very helpful at all.
Took him for Philosophy of religion. I have never had a more awful professor. Worst one here at NHCC.
Interesting class. Respects everyone's positions, but also shares his own liberal position. If you disagree, be prepared to argue your position. Sometimes I think he takes the opposite side just to make you work the argument.
Excellent teacher who likes to have class discussions. Papers are easy to do if you read the material.
Very intelligent person who enjoys his subject. Challenges peoples' beliefs making some people frustrated. Good guy, very interesting, difficult grader.
Bruce is a great professor. He is an advocate of critical thinking often stigmitized for his dedication to seeking the truth. He will challenge your arguments whether he sides with you or not. Lebus maintains a welcoming classroom environment that encourages people to speak out. Highly recommended for everyone!
He was a really sweet man, who challenged you to think about every answer you gave. The typical, "It's morally correct." wasn't good enough, you had to say WHY! He also respected everyone's opinion, which was refreshing.
He doesn't use textbooks, just has you read articles online which are actually fairly interesting. Class is based primarily on class discussions and essays. Makes you think, challenges you, but is respectful at the same time. He lets you e-mail assignments, and responds pretty quickly. Nice professor.
He used a combo of well thought-out arguments, research, and experience to offer his students a base upon which they could figure out their own various view-points and argue their positions. Everyday you got a new intro. to the students around you and on Thurs. you got to read =) Class was exhilarating and fresh. Take a break and learn with him!
Had him for ethics. Messed up teacher. So engrossed in his weird ideas, and his goal is to mess you up as well. -His words not mine.- Spent a whole class talking about how if there were only two guys left on the earth, they could have a baby. Just utterly screwed up. Take someone else!
He was a strange man, who had a mind that worked in weird ways. But it was amazing trying to get myself to understand the theories and reasoning which humans use. It makes your head spin at times, but it's totally worth it! =]
He doesn't listen. At all. He will spew randomosity at you whenever you bring up an idea or viewpoint and he'll expect you to reply to that. Just ignore him, don't say anything unless you agree with something he says otherwise he will verbally attack you.
not any easy class quizzes are not vey good
very smart man, respectful, i loved this class, and liked the teaching method of lebus, made me use my brain with interest for once. highly recommended teacher.
Very good teacher. Very easy class and no text required. Just a few one page papers and you have an easy A or B. The only way to fail is if you dont do your work (which isn't that much). Do show for class though he gives very useful info. He may rant a bit and yes he dosn't listen to your POV but the class is easy.
No text. Everyone who says he doesn't listen to your POV simply doesn't understand whatsoever: he's looking so closely at your opinions, that he tries to get you to explain them in numerous different ways, rather than stating one thing and accepting it as the truth. Hellloooooo??? He's amazing at opening your eyes...I thoroughly enjoyed this class.
WORST PROFESSOR. does not teach ANYTHING useful. just forces his opinions on students. WASTE OF YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
OK so the guy is weird, but he KNOWS what he is talkin about... At least I think... He is the easiest professor a person could ever have.
Great teacher. Makes you think and challenges you but usually does it fairly. Kind of gives a lot of work but grades fairly if you actually try. Overall good teacher and i would recommend for your own intellectual benefit. Both his ethics and philosophy classes are great.
OMG!!!! What was he thinking with all those 14 page readings. The man is psychotic!!!! he would read his Einstien novel and stand on his tippy toes and throw thumbs up in the air with both hands!!!! do your papers for the portfolios and make sure to listen to that damn radio station!!!! Do not i repeat DO NOT put those papers off.
overall the class was easy and if you did all the work you could get an a. BUT. he was so opinionated and not open to any other ideas. he was rude and i was afraid to ask him questions. barely wanted to open my mouth in class. so if this class would satisfy your academic needs- take it. if you dont need to-dont take it with him.

Students who complain about having to read 14-page readings and writing papers that actually make a person think should take a step back and reevaluate what they expect from a college education. This man is awesome.
This Professor is by far one of the best Philosopher professor I've had. I took him at NHCC and now am currently attending St. Thomas. No Philosophy professor here is nothing compared to Bruce Lebus. He makes you do alot of critical thinking and his lectures leaves you intrigued from class. If he's difficult for you, you aren't ready for colleg
NOT a fan. He is kind of a big ****. Good luck talking, he'll most likely just ignore you.
Its time for a change. No customer service ability what so ever. Teachers have come out of retirement just to prevent Bruce from damaging the reputation of NHCC. I love this school and would hate to see it tarnished by malignant self-importance.
Bruce is awesome! Crystal clear with his expectations but does not nag. You are a college student and he won't hold your hand and actually has expectations from his students. Very engaging lectures. Offers office hours. Willing to spar and argue, class period flew. Do the work and it is an easy pass. Will have to go above and beyond to receive an A
I was in his Ethics class this summer and I will admit hes a harsh grader. His popquizzes based off articles he hand selected and YOU MUST READ AND REMEMBER *EVERY* DETAIL FROM THAT 10-14 PAGE ARTICLE. Those and his exams are on a 5pt scale. So getting one wrong is 80% already. However, hes VERY smart but needs egostoking, or you fail the class....
Very interesting teacher. He leads stimulating class discussion and is open to debate. While he may be an awesome teacher in that aspect, his grading scheme isn't. All of the graded work in the class is 5 point quizzes/tests. Quizzes (every day virtually) are on readings, 10 pg avg. Get 1 wrong boom a B. Tests are 1pg essays on Question(s) given.
Lebus is a fantastic professor. The grading can be someone difficult for people that have issues with critical thinking because he expects a lot of it. If you cant handle looking at your own views objectively in a Philosophy course then its probably not the subject for you. He doesn't use a text book which saves money.
I was in his ethics class my first semester. The "text book" is a book he wrote that you recieve assigned readings from. The grade is based off 5 point quizes and "exams" which are in the form of a paper. MUST remember EVERY SMALL detail.. don't talk unless you're highly confident. Kind of rude..
Lebus has made me think about things I never would've normally even second guessed. I've taken two classes with him now and they were both very interesting and expanded my views on life. I like him a lot :)
Bruce is a really cool guy. After every class you will step back and look at your life in a whole new way. He grades based on the 5pt quizzes and exams. study for the quizes!! He also makes you listen to a certain amount of MPR each week so be ready with a topic if he calls on you. Other than that, He's just a hilarious guy! I recommend!
Bruce is a great prof. Anyone that wines that he is rude are just sour because he doesn't put up with people's arrogance. He is a philosopher and can see right through it. If you come into the class with an ego, prepare to be ripped to peaces by logic. This prof. questions everything and will even have you questioning yourself. Amazing eye opener!
Prof. Lebus is a great teacher. He makes you think better and that's what Philosophy is all about. He's always interested in what he's students thinks and challenges them. If you are a great debater, good luck in winning. Short quizzes, essay tests are take home,1/2 to 1-page only. Attendance is a must because no make up on missed quiz.
Professor Lebus was awesome! I would recommend taking him. Just keep up on your readings and you will be fine. Quizzes are easy, as long as you've done the reading. And the exams are writing papers...easiest A you will ever earn!
Professor Lebus is a nice man. Some of the material he teaches is disturbing. Not a bad class if you do the reading and keep up on the Tedtalks it is a good class.
He is lacking one thing: open-mindeness and that is required if you want to teach Philosophy. He wants to force students to think the way he wants.
I highly recommend him!He is Awesome! Professor Lebus is a great person and great teacher. He helps students to form clear conceptions on how to think. He is helpful and can guide a student on the right path of a lifetime of thought and reflection!
I highly recommend Professor Lebus!! He is a true philosopher! He is helpful in that he makea understanding the mind and righteousness easier! Makes it easy to learn! Relevant topics! Really a great guy!!! Take his class!!!
I highly recommend Professor Lebus!!! He is a great guy and make learning and understand philosophy easy! He is helpful! Topics are relevant and interesting! He is a great Professor! Take Professor Lebus' class!!!
The class is hard as the readings are old and hard to comprehend. He is an interesting teacher though. Good class, just hard with the 5-point quizzes every week. Not a lot of room for error.
Lebus is a tough professor (similar methods of a University prof so it's a great prep class if you are a transfer). He challenges you because that is the nature of the course. He provokes debate because that is half the point behind Philosophy. The quizzes and readings are hard, but you will appreciate it in the end! Be open minded and confident.
He is a tough teacher for sure but he is so passionate about the subject and hes a amazing teacher.. Just a bit tough
Bruce Lebus is a Professor, a great one if you value thinking critically and objectively. Any opinion, assumption or belief that you hold can and will be put under the microscope of logic and science. Yes, lebus will challenge you to see and understand beyond the norms and values of the status quo, Yes take this class
Bruce is a great teacher. He challenges you and really tries to make you a better human. I would say you would need to step out of the box and have an open mind for the material. Quizzes can be tough- only 5 points sometimes from a 15 page article. Really no room for error.
Bruce is nice to listen to and will make you really think about your morals. Just read the articles for the 5 point quizzes and you'll be fine. Quizzes have difficult questions though so read and reread the articles. I would take his class again.
Attendance is mandatory in this class. You must read every article he gives multiple times and highlight the details. The quizzes cover a broad amount of info. He will not offer any help or extra credit if you get sick or mess up on a quiz. I have never done poorly in a class before until this one. If you can't memorize, don't take this class.
Bruce is a great teacher! If you have a question he will sit there and discuss it with you. He is very clear with his assignments. Class is really interesting most of the time and he will really make you rethink what you know about life.
This class is easy, because all you do is sit in class and listen to what he's saying and talk with your peers about ed talks and what you think about topics. However, there are 5 point quizzes about every week based on the articles assigned. Seeems easy, but hard to have an A in the class. Quizzes isn't on knowledge of the assignment, but luck.
For those students who are planning to take Ethics,I have good news for you. Professor Bruce is passinate, kind and very helpful in his class. You will get the best experience in your life by attending his class. His class presentation and topics related to suhjet he is teaching. He empower and enrich students in his class discussion. He is the best
I enjoyed his philosophy.
He is very bad, avoid at all costs. It is nearly impossible to get an A. His quizzes are 5 points each and there are 20 of them and he picks out the most random facts that are not even related to ethics. I learned nothing from him. He should be fired. I had already graduated with a 4.0 from NHCC, and this was my first B.
Great class to take. He cares about his students and is passionate about the topics he brings up in class.
Easy class, fun to debate. % point quizzes are easy enough and no book to buy!
what an awesome class, really makes you think and opens up your mind
Great professor. Very knowledgeable about the topics discussed in class, and clearly enjoys teaching. He wears a plaid shirt to class everyday, but I've never seen the same one twice. Seriously, this guy must have 100 different plaid shirts.
Professor Lebus was awesome! I would take him again for Ethics. NO book required, which is a plus!!! Very easy going and will listen to students thoughts on subjects.
Professor Lebus is great, he's very passionate about teaching and his lectures really leave you thinking. He is a tough grader though, so if you are looking for and easy A I wouldn't take his class, but if you are looking to learn a lot I would suggest his class.
He doesn't make you buy books for this class but instead every class period he would put a quote or line over the projector and make you examine that quote or line then get into small groups and discuss THEN you share your thoughts about it to the whole class. You better know what you're talking about or he will back fire you with what he believes.
Ethics was an easy class, but it's nearly impossible to get an A. The only homework you have are question exams, which you basically read or watch a video and make up questions. The in-class lectures are really long and boring.
The class was super easy but he said it was rare to get an A in his class. There was barely any homework and when there was it was only 250 word paragraphs that we had to write.
Professor Lebus is the best teacher to take if you don't want to deal with philosophers like Aristotle. His class is geared towards opening your mind. His lectures are relevant to current events. There are 10 exam question homework assignments, that if you read the given topic articles, you will get a good grade. HE DOES NOT GRADE HARD, just fair.
Ethics was easily one of the best courses I have taken at NHCC, partly in thanks to Professor Lebus. Many claim that he's strict, but he's only strict about beginning each class period with introductions and reading. He doesn't assign much graded work, just weekly paragraphs that are easy to get 10's on if you put some actual thought into them.
This was easily one of my favorite classes. He really challenges your convictions in a productive way and gives you readings that are actually interesting and relevant. Homework is thought provoking and easy to do. Not so easy to get 100% on. No final, no exams. Awesome class would recommend to everyone.
If you attend North Hennepin or plan on attending, take at least one course with Bruce, you won't regret it. Bruce is by far the most intellectual teacher I've ever had. Light load homework wise, but will really push you to think outside of the box. I've went back and thought about so much I've learned and discussed in his class.
Quizzes are based on random facts that don't even make sense to the class. They are just reading checks and you have to make sure you essentially memorize the passage word for word to get an A. He would test on things when was such and such born, or who was their wife.
Lebus was a great professor. He really makes you open your perception of reality and displays an unique look and teaching of philosophy. Took him for ethics and philosophy and got an A in both classes. I didn't show up to every class either, but you have to be ready to think and make sure to do all the paragraph essays. no book required, no tests.
I really enjoyed his class ! great professors and easy class
Bruce was a great professor. Most of his classes are lecture based, but more of a conversation between the class on ethics in current events. If you show passion for the class and write good weekly paragraphs you will get a good grade. Attendance is not mandatory but will matter in the end if you are missing.
Professor Lebus is great! No Tests, No Quizzes, No need to purchase book. Assignments -type 3 argument paragraphs in regards to daily lecture, due every week. Type good argument paragraphs, participate in class and you will do good. Be prepared to read!
Professor Lebus does not make you buy a book. Instead he prints out daily discussions topics for lecture. 3 Gem Paragraphs are due every Thursday and it pretty much consists of 500 word argument paper in regards to his lectures. He has you bring any reading book of choice to read in class for about 20 min. No Tests!
So what if he doesn't give students A's?! Easy class! No book! He makes you think on interesting situations. Just show up, participate and do your small homework. Many students should be happy they pass instead of focusing on their "perfect" GPA. Only thing I disliked is the ignorant, bias, responses from other students during class participation.
Bruce was a great inspirational professor. This is my second time having him as a professor for two different subjects and he didn't fail to amaze me once again. Opened my eyes to a world I didn't think much about, even got me into reading books. I received an A once again in his class (which some say is hard) it is not hard if you engage in class
Didn't like the class to begin with but at the end of the semester I wished it never ended. Interesting topics, no text book required. Lebus is a tough grader but you have to try as well. Late hw is better than no hw which means some points are better than no points. You can still get full credit depending if your paragraphs are a Gem ;)
The homework consists of a weekly half-page paper about what we discussed in class so you must attend class to have good writing material. The second grading piece is a weekly book log from a reading of your choice. No textbook. His lectures are interesting, involves the whole class, and really gets you thinking outside the box!
Lebus made the Ethics subject very interesting and enjoyable. Sometimes he would be a little too headstrong on his opinions which might've offended some. The only thing that is graded is the weekly paragraphs that he graded sort of tough. No tests or other homework.
If you want to have everything you THINK you know challenged, as well as your mind completely blown, then take Professor Lebus for Ethics. He is one of the most intelligent individuals I have ever met. No textbooks, no tests, no quizzes, and no projects. Show up, open your mind, pay attention, and do the assigned GEM paragraphs.
Bruce will make you think when you are writing your Gem paragraph. If you worry taking Ethics, don't be. I took his class philosophy before and he is such a fun professor. Even though there's a gem in almost every week and is based on discussion, that we discussed in class.
Professor Lebus was an okay teacher. Everyday you would introduce yourself. There is no books to the class but you will be graded on gem paragraphs. They cannot be longer than 300 words. He grades them from 0-10. He barely gives out 10's. You will have to write 4-5 gem paragraphs for the whole semester.
He grades hard. Even tells us he doesn't give out many A's. He said he gave away 5 A's last semester. He has more then 200 students so thats not good. He expects everyone to talk. he talks about uncomfortable topics and if you don't want to talk about something that makes you feel awkward he'll come up to you and force you to talk about it. Bad.
Professor Lebus is a great professor but you're only graded on a sketchbook which he wants you to write or draw in and it's really tough getting a passing grade unless you wow him. Class is interesting though and you learn a lot of mind blowing stuff about a variety of different subjects.
The only graded items are 4 one-page papers, and he's not a generous grader. He likes in-class discussion, and hates D2L (and textbooks, apparently). What makes me like him most is that he lets the class read whatever they want for twenty minutes at the beginning of each lecture. That alone earns him a 5, in my opinion.
No exams. Just papers, some group work, some discussions, and some news. He is an amazing teacher who cares about teaching morality most of all.
the only thing you are graded on are gem paragraphs. they are 300 word limit paragraphs about a certain topic he gives you. so pretty easy class
No attendance, but his lectures are needed. Doesn't like the internet so doesn't use D2L. Just Gem Paragraphs- 300-word paragraph. Grades them hard, but will look at a rough draft to help you get a good grade. Lectures and wants the class to join in for their opinion. Some lectures are different but he wants you to thinking differently on things.
Professor Lebus has been one of my favorites. His class is thought-provoking and pulls you outside of your comfort zone, which I really enjoyed. There are healthy debates/conversations each class. Participation is strongly encouraged. You are assigned 300 word gem paragraphs throughout the semester, and there is no final.
Professor Lebus is an incredible professor. While he is a tough grader, his teaching style is excellent and his in class lectures and discussions are profoundly enjoyable. There is a bit of work, but nothing exceptional or impossibly problematic. Further, he let students turn in late assignments at full credit and always gave work back quickly.
I enjoyed this class. If you pay attention in class and write honestly rather than writing to suck up I think youll do well. Have an open mind and be willing to think outside the box.
Mr. Lebus really made the class enjoyable. He's funny, and doesn't give out that many assignments. I believe we only had about 5 assignments the whole semester. His lectures are very entertaining. He does grade hard though. As long as you actually put effort into you're assignments then you'll be fine.
Bruce is a spectacular professor. This class was incredibly easy and interesting. Instead of lectures, he encourages open discussion and arguments about relevant topics that will affect us in our lifetime. Bruce is an infinite well of information; if you take his class, pick his brain. Philosophy touches on challenging topics, go with an open mind.
This teacher was so kind and respectful to his students. Class is discussion based. There is a daily introduction and 20 minutes of reading at the beginning of class. I would take him a million times all over again. Best ethic professor out there.
Lebus is one of the best professors a person is lucky to have. He genuinely cares about students and their education. The lectures make a person think and question stuff. There is a bit of group discussion which is nice. I am happy to have had the opportunity to take this course. I wish more people were like Lebus.
