Excellent Math teacher -- MacMillan uses clear pedagogical techniques to present new material and makes it as painless as possible.

Mr. MacMillan is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He explains things very clearly, has lots of patience, and doesn't give a lot of homework. The tests are very reasonable. Do the homework and make sure you know how to do all of the problems and you'll be fine.

Bruce was an amazing teacher. He would show up to class 45 minutes early everyday to offer extra help to students. Pick him if you get the chance, always willing to help. This may not be the easiest subject to learn, but he will do his best to help you understand. The absolute BEST math teacher I have had so far.

He's adorable and loves math. With many math teachers, it's a hit or miss if they're good. Mr. MM is amazing! He loves helping and teaching. To do well, print out the notes, follow along, do practice problems and the homework. Calculus may not be easy, but he makes it far much easier than some teachers. Take him, he's awesome!

I do think Bruce is an excellent teacher!! Not very simple to get an A but if you can follow him, B is guaranteed. Very helpful and esay-going!

First of all, share the textbook! It was in one of those dumb binder versions, so you can't sell it back.. so share, because you will barely use it. But this is an easy class, just show up, and listen. He makes it really easy! Good math class.

Greatest math teacher I've ever had. Made the class real simple to follow and understand. I did horrible in pre-calc and was scared coming into this Calculus class but ended up doing really well in it.

I loved Brucey! He was such a good teacher - funny and really smart. His lectures were made super clear with the math packets that he makes for his students to print out. Everything is made so easy, it was fabulous! Take him! It's an easy A if you pay attention and do all the practice problems.

One of the very best teachers I have ever had in my collegial career. Considering the class is called "Elements of Calculus" I was not too interested however, the lectures are well organized and very easy to take from. Bruce's notes are print out notes that are rather relevant to tests/hw. Nothing you learn in the class is unimportant. Bruce Rocks!

Great Trig teacher. My only complaint was I felt the final wasn't written well, but he didn't write it.

He takes time to explain every detail to ensure students understand what they are learning. Truely an outstanding professor.

He explains the math problem very clear so it is easy to understand compare to other math classes. Testes are decent if you know the materials. Homeworks are once every week on Wiley.

This class is really hard. You have to devote a lot of time for studying. He is a really god teacher and explains the material well but you still need to practice the homework often. Hes always there to help you with problems but does not give extra credit no matter how much you beg him!

If you have any calculus experience at all, this class will be a joke. MacMillan is such a fun professor and is very out there. He has a program in his calculator called "DISEASE". Take this class, you may need to study, but it is a good learning experience.

I'm not a math person, but I found this course very easy. The course is organized very well, and macmillan is extremely good at explaining these concepts. If you don't do particularly well with math, then I would encourage you to take this professor.

I took calculus during high school but I never really understood the concepts until I got into math 113. EASIEST math class I've ever taken. He explains clearly and you can tell he likes his job. As long as you do the homework and the pretest assignments you're good to go. Don't be afraid to use office hours or the think tank, they're life savers.

Hands down the best math teacher I've had, and definitely one of the best teachers in general. He demonstrates an expert skill at navigating the concepts but explains the material clearly, in terms anyone paying attention can grasp. I'm terrible at math and had to withdraw from 124 my freshman year. However, this math class was a breeze! He's the best math teacher I've ever had, and he will not surprise you on any of the exams. Show up to most classes, do the homework, then do the test prep worksheets (and understand them). You'll get the A. Didn't even touch the textbook.

He is a good math teacher. His way of teaching is easy to understand. If you have questions, his office hours are very helpful. If you show up to all the classes, do the homework, then do the test prep worksheets he puts up on D2L, you will be well prepared for tests!

Probably the best math teacher i've ever had. Just show up to his class and stay awake, and you will be able to master trig. His notes are very clear and useful, he always provides review material for his tests, and his assignments are fairly short, yet you get a lot out of them. Arguably one of th best teachers i've had EVER.

I'm really good at math but he is the most helpful professor I have had at the UofA. Take advantage of his office hours because he will be more flexible with you if your grade is close at the end of the semester. 5 tests including the final. Wileyplus work with unlimited attempts. The book is useless but you have to buy it for the Wiley code

Before this class, I took Calculus 3 times and failed it all 3 times. First time I ever understood the subject was taking his class, got 94% on the first test. Would highly recommend.

I SUCK AT MATH, and this teacher was AMAZING! for the first time in 3 years, I got an A in his class. I've taken pre-calc in high school twice (got C's) and took math 112 last semester (got a C), but Mr. MacMillan is a GREAT teacher, and his TA's are ALWAYS there to help. TAKE THIS TEACHER! He is a great teacher and he really cares that his students do well in his course. Don't expect an easy A, but if you work for it you will receive it. Go to every lecture, pay attention, do homeworks with friends, and study for his tests and you'll be sure to get that A with no problem.

He wants you to learn! He has different ways of showing how to do problems which, in my opinion, they all are very well-explained. If you go in for help, you will receive it. Great professor! Prof. MacMillan is one of the better teachers in the math department. I have and always will be awful at math, but he has so many resources to help a student out. There were a lot of T.A.s in my class, so lots of office hours. His tests are difficult, but fair. And he seems to really try and make sure people understand the material.

Mr. MacMillan is a great professor. He was always to class early tooter assistance to any students. I am academically challenged and he helped me pass with a decent grade. Missing a class is tough because he teaches a big lesson in only 50 minutes.

I came from an AP Calculus background in high school, so entering Math 113 was expected to be easy. Although Mr. MacMillan was thorough in his lectures and provided WileyPlusworksheet problems for practice, tests were more difficult than expected.

This is the first time I've liked a professor enough to rate him. He is a great professor and actually wants all his students to succeed. He makes test preps that are almost identical to the tests and makes the material easy to understand. I ended with an 88.25% and rounded it up so I received an A.

Mr. MacMillan was a great professor. He teaches the basic material well and assigns the proper amount of homework for learning the rest of the material. He teaches a lot in one lecture, so skipping class is not advised. He is always willing to help.

122a is a 4 wk prep for the final to enter 122b. BEST math prof (maybe best of any subject) that I've had. I've never earned above a C in math or met a prof who genuinely cares so much about our success. He teaches so clearly & WANTS to help. TAKE HIM. TRUST ME, he's great & will change your outlook on math forever. Someone give this guy an award.

Mr. MacMillan expects you to show up to his class EVERYDAY. If you miss a lot of lectures you might not pass. He explains math problems simple so you will understand. He does his best to prepare you for the Math final so show up to his lectures! Assignments are daily, both written and Webassign.

Mr. MacMillan is one of the BEST math teachers I've had! He's lively during class and very clear when teaching and when assignments are due. Him and his TAs are extremely helpful and offer many office hours. There is one homework assignment every Sunday night and 3 tests and a final. Going to class really matters but he makes the time fly by! :)

Dr. MacMillan is extremely helpful and is one of the most understanding professors I've had. He cares a lot about students succeeding and will help you if you ask for it. I didn't feel like I was very good at math or liked it, but after his class I actually want to take calculus and feel like I have the ability to learn math and understand it.

If you receive anything lower than a C in this course you didn't try. He gives students so many opportunities to do well. I'm not a stellar math student and I managed to get a B in this class. Go to office hours, do the test preps not just the day before the test and actually understand them and a B is pretty easy. Only problem is hes a Rockies fan

Professor MacMillan is the sweetest old man. He's very helpful and wants you to succeed. Though math is harder for some than others, his class structure makes passing the class easy enough.

Professor MacMillan's lectures are clear, and he gladly takes any questions you may have. His test prep worksheets and homework are very helpful for the tests. He is very clear about what is going to be on the exam, and there's never any tricks or blindsides on the test. Very straightforward and helpful; also makes class interesting.

Bruce MacMillan is proof that having a big class with a great teacher is better than having a small class with a crappy teacher. Every prior math class at the U of A has been absolutely aweful but Bruce has a very great step by step way of teaching a concept and relating it to calculus. If you show up ready to focus for an hour it should be easy.

Lots of office hours available, homework & test prep worksheets are actually worthwhile & helpful & he's a pretty lenient grader. Only online homework is turned in & the two lowest are dropped. Best math teacher I have ever had. He was clear and tough, but he cared about each student. DEFINITELY go to ALL the lectures, office hours, and study sessions and do all the test-prep questions. It's your responsibility to be successful, but if you are willing to work for it, he is willing to help you. Very funny, sweet guy and excellent teacher.

Professor MacMillan is great! His teaching is generally very clear, and he cares about his students. The course is not very hard if you've previously taken calc or pre-calc, and if you do all of the test-prep and practice questions you'll be well prepared for the tests.

Bruce Macmillan is one of the nicest professors and he truly cares about his students. It's a hard class but if you work for it and do the Test Preps, you will do well. He doesn't throw anything on the tests that isn't in the notes or test preps. Don't expect an easy A but he is your best shot at doing well in the class.

Professor MacMillan definitely wants all of his students to pass his class. He and his TAs offer several times during the week that they are available to help students. He is very clear in what he is looking for but sometimes he can confuse some people on the actual math concepts. This class is easy if you understand basic math and attend class.

Dr. MacMillan really cares if you care. Go to office hours, see the preceptors, and you will pass. It's not an easy class but his class notes are AMAZING and super helpful. Don't skip.

I'm a math person so I loved the class, but my friends who weren't strong in math struggled a lot in this class. He was very easy to reach out to and get help. His lectures were clear and he does everything he can to have his students pass. His TA's are not helpful, go to him directly. If you do the test prep and key concepts, you'll do ok.

He's available a lot outside of class, his notes are easy to follow, and attendance is mandatory. There's one online assignment per week and then an occasional packet to complete. The tests are easy and he gives tons of review and test prep so if you do those you'll be fine. I loved his lectures and I highly recommend taking his class.

If math isn't your forte, get Macmillan. I'm awful at math, don't get a thing about it. But Macmillan really tries hard for you to succeed and if you work your bum off it's possible to pass. It's not his fault that the tests are hard or that they're weighted so heavily; that's all thanks to UA's crummy math department. If I can pass, so can you.

Clicker questions for attendance every day. Weekly online homework which is closely related to what we do in class. He gives lots of opportunities to get help out of class.

You won't get a good grade if you don't put in work, which is easy because he gives additional practice problems at the back of our workbook for every unit. 4 unit exams + final, all about 18 MC and 6 FRQs. He tells you what is likely to be on the test. He is very accessible and encourages students to see him or TAs at office hours. Great professor

MacMillan is the best math teacher I have ever had. He makes his lectures really clear and gives plenty of practice problems that are relevant to the tests he gives. That being said, you have to really keep on top of the homework and practice problems to do well in the class.

I'm not sure why he's getting so much hate on here, he was amazing. He went slow during lecture and took time to clarify when prompted, exams were exactly like the homework and practice problems, which he gave plenty of. If you don't do well in this class, it's probably because you didn't apply yourself. I looked forward to his class, even at 8am!

One of the best professors I have had so far at the University of Arizona. I went to his office hours after every class on Tuesday/Thursday and he is the most helpful person ever. Very caring and patient if you have questions. Just make sure you show up to class, do all the homework and practice problems, and you should easily get an A.

Before the pandemic his lectures were good even at 8 am. He offers a lot of tutoring opportunities and he's funny sometimes. He retired the semester that he taught my class so I don't think a lot of people will see this but he was a great professor.

MacMillan is so easy to understand and obviously has a lot of experience teaching. He interviews previous students who got high grades and asks them how they were able to succeed. He then communicates these answers to his next class so that they can implement those same strategies and also succeed. Keep up with assignments & attend class for an A.
