If you want to learn about writing, this is the teacher you must take. Not only does he make the learning process very fun, but you will learn all the skills you need for writing. I have never seen a teacher with so much passion to teach.

What a wonderful teacher! My semester would have been miserable without that class. He made it so fun and enjoyable, I didn't even know I was learning something. The work load he gave us was not demanding, just enough. I give his class an A++

I've had four English classes at FJC and by far he is the best teacher. He actually teaches things we should know like grammar and works cited and MLA. Plus, he makes it fun and low pressure as he can. Very fair and flexible and really cares bout his students.

he's hilarious. really lightens up english, but he's really knows the material and you get a lot done without it being boring or tedious. he'll tell you great stories and make you laugh. really cares about you as an individual and a fair grader (more on the easy side)

If you cant pass this class go back to high school. I SUCK at english. I got a 78%. You have a medium amount of home work that is very easy (you grade your self honor system). Is a pain in the ass about grammar, but all english teachers are. Your learn a lot and its easy. Funny guy too.

A very entertaining prof but far from fair. I wrote a detailed, well researched paper on gender roles and "Rebel w/out a Cause" (shown in class). I recieved a c- on the paper. The only thing written many times on my paper was, "I do not agree." Without making unfair assumptions, i didn't understand. My UCLA profs love my papers now, go figure.

please take this class. if you are looking for an english teacher that is easy take him. he is laid back about most of the stuff just dont get him complaining. there are essays but he gives you easy assignments to make points.

He is the best. Class is definitely entertaining. Wasn't too satisfied with my essay grades, but that was my own fault. He offered me the tools to improve, it was up to me after that. Take him if you can...he will work with you.

I highly suggest you to take this teacher if you can. He is a wonderful person who goes out of his way to make sure you get what he is teaching and always there when you need his help. He is also very funny, outgoing, and really does make class as fun as possible. I will be taking him again for English 100, thats how much I enjoyed his class.

I took him in spring 06. He was a great instructor. There are only five essays and he lets you revise each one after the final copy is do. He is easy going, gives everyone a chance and he is funny. If it wasnÂ’t for him rounding my grade, I wouldnÂ’t have passed. He is the only instructor I know that will give you a few extra points to pass.

Mr Magee is helpful. he is not easy though, anyway the class is fun. rarely use textbook (he'll show you the way to save money for textbook!!!). I took him in Spring, but there were so many essays that it seemed not enough time to write. work hard, but not easy to get an A. he is a fair grader ( grade on your essays, not you work). Recommend him!!!

Mr. Magee's Class is the far Best class I have ever taken. He is really funny and really helpful. There is a lot of work but its worth doing. Trust me this is one class you WANT TO TAKE!!!

He is so freaking fun and loud! (Love that Southern accent) He makes every assignment plain and simple and gives you X-tra time to make up any assignments. Just don't mention the words "gym and Cambodia" lol

BEST teacher EVER! Take him. He makes the subject fun and interesting. Be prepared to write but he makes it as easy as possible. Theres a personal, informational, Rebel Without a Cause, argument, and evaluation paper. All pretty fun to write. Some light reading and grammar practice. He's laid back and really really funny. Best teacher i've had here

Magee is really an awesome professor. I really hate writing period but he lets you choose yer own topic for majority of papers. 5 papers plus the final but they arent that long about 3-6 pages max. Makes it very easy and simple. Very easy to talk to an ask questions. Only paper that sucks is the Rebel analysis paper. Otherwise a GREAT professor A+

Awesome sense of humor, hard working &cares about his students.Allows u to revise 4/5 essays he assigns, & goes above & beyond in helping u. He expects quite a bit, but he is very clear, organised &keeps the class entertained. Dr. Magee is one of the best English instructors I've ever had. He is very helpful and clear about his expectations of the class. I'm currently attending the summer session as his student, and I am learning so much. He's a very intelligent, but yet so hilarious!! You will enjoy this class. Highly recommend this instructor.

Magee is hand down the BEST FJC teacher ever! He does have a lot of work, but if you keep up with him, it isnt that bad. He is very funny, so it makes the time pass by TOO quickly. Im disappointed that i am done with my english courses, i would LOVE to take his classes again. Everyone should have the pleasure to be taught by him.

He is a great great prof. the class is tough, but he is extremely helpful. If you want to improve your writing, he is the best choice. He gives you tons of comments on your papers so you just follow and revise them for better grades. he's hilarious so you will look forward to his class.

He's a great professor. He's a real funny guy and loves to joke around. He gives a solid amount of essays, but can and will walk you through the entire way to help better the end grade. I just entered college for my first semester, and am happy to say that i enrolled in his class.

It was my first year here and i highly recommend him. He is funny and is very helpful in anything you need. He makes you laugh and you can coun on him when you need help in anything you do not understand. its an easy class if you pay attention. not difficult at all. essays are quite interesting.

I love this guy! Great instructor; however, he will assign plenty of work (2 in class and 4 out of class essays). He will have you read a book and answer questions. Show up and have a good attitude and you will do fine. He will bend-over backwards to help his students out. He is funny. If you truly want to learn he is the guy for you.

Dr. Magee is awesome! maybe it was just me but I seriously thought he was hilarious! He always has funny things to say. Its not all fun and games though cause he does assign a good amount of work. He's always very helpful and you should do just fine if you try! Definitely recommend this guy :)

Dr. Magee is awesome! If you show up to class and actually make an effort on your papers there is no reason why you shouldn't pass with flying colors. He always makes himself available to help and goes everyone multiple opportunities to improve their grades by revising their essays for better grades. Class is enjoyable and his humor and stories make the semester bearable.

On the first day I didn't realize I was late, but he still let me in anyway. He's a really nice guy and a pretty funny guy too. We only had about 3 major essays and read a book as a class. He's really understanding too. There was a minor book everyone needed and he let us use it and pay him back when ever(By the end of the semester) Take him!!!! :D

I took Eng100&221 with Magee and I have to say I wish there was another class he taught that I could take. He is an amazing teacher and SOOOOO hilarious. Can't even emphasize it enough. Eng221 was a bit harder but he makes the material memorable by..his magic teaching skills lol but seriously TAKE HIM! For ANY english class. Ily Magee!

First off, he is HILARIOUS! Second, he is such a great teacher! I remember thinking in class, "we need teachers like this back in my old high school." He explains how to write college level essays very well! You will not regret taking him!

GREAT professor. Very informative and passionate, but very good discussions and explanations. My only problem was his "packet" of just busy work that was VERY hard to keep track of and pointless. Made every single class so enjoyable I didn't want to miss a single day. I recommend him to EVERYONE--if you take an English class, take Magee!

Mr. Magee was a very good professor. His classes were interesting and funny, but his jokes got old sometimes. He actually takes the time to grade your work, which makes him a great teacher. We did do about 15 rough drafts and essays, but it's worth it for a good education. Also, he is strict with tardies and absences, so go to class on time!

Doctor Magee is the best english teacher I have ever had. He is approachable, he answers your questions clearly, he is hilarious in class, and he includes the entire class in his lectures. There are many group activities and many essay proof reads that really help to expand your ability to see errors and learn how to fix them. Prepares for Eng 103

Professor Magee is THE BEST teacher I have had at FCC. He walks you step by step on how to write papers. Before this class I had little understanding on how to write college level essays, but with his help I excelled and received an A.

Dr. Magee without a doubt is the best professor i have encountered at Fullerton College. He has a great attitude towards helping his students not only pass the course but progress within their writing. With all honesty, if you really want to improve and learn, you should take a class with Dr. Magee. Lastly, Dr. Magee's class is fun and interesting.

Dr. Magee was an amazing teacher to have for English 100! He is hilarious, and the material is very understand with him! We had three major papers that made up most of our grade, but with his help, they weren't stressful at all! He is very helpful, and very willing to work with you! He does drop if you miss class, our class got pretty small!

He is the best english teacher on campus. His willing to help you if you need it. And if your struggling his willing to help you make your grade go up. He has taught me a lot in english. I took him for english 59 and 100 and if i could I would take him again. He is really funny, he makes all his lessons fun so you want to be there and actual learn.

If you are a DSS student, I highly recommend taking him during a regular semester. I took him this past Summer 2015 term, and I felt that I could've learned more during a regular semester with ease. Take him if you don't have many plans during the summer. Overall, he's a great professor and funny!

This is a good class to learn new things. It is definitely not an easy class but if you have questions he is always there to help. Magee is definitely passionate about English and he has great stories. There are 3 major and they're kind of tough. You will definitely read a great deal ( it's a literature class) and analyze EVERYTHING. Recommend!

This review is a bit overdue since I took him back in Fall 2014. But HANDS DOWN, STILL MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR OF ALL TIME. He was not only hilarious, he made my love for writing grow even fonder. He's not an easy A, but by the end of the semester nobody will ever regret taking him. TAKE HIM. YOU WILL THANK ME LATER. SUCH AN OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR.

I HATE English, but I love Dr. Magee! He gives awesome feed back and lets you revise all your essays! Expect a lot of HW, but overall an awesome class and amazing instructor!

He is a very funny teacher, his stories are very entertaining and he gives helpful feedback on all his papers. He rarely gives any homework, and you must buy his class work book which he sells very cheap. He will work with you to make sure you pass, he will memorize your name and sometimes make you participate in class. I highly recommend him.

I took his class knowing that he was tough but understanding that he was possibly the best teacher at the school to improve my writing in every way. This is literally the best teacher ever super funny you wont regret taking him. grades tough but gives good feedback and many attempts to revise essays so you wont have any trouble if you actually put like 1/4th of all your effort in.

Incredible old school teacher! Dr Magee is hilarious and very passionate about his work. he grades very very hard but he is willing to help revise and he does workshops throughout the semester. you have to put 110% effort in his class and you'll pass. tough teacher but you won't regret taking him!

when I was struggling he helped at office hours. Magee let us revise on our essay. he is a funny instructor but what I don't like about this class is that he does not use canvas.

Professor Magee is one of those professors that makes you want to do well. He wants you to learn and succeed. He gives the opportunity to revise papers which is the majority of your grade. He also gives many opportunities for extra credit. He is very open and likes to kid around, so if you're sensitive or easily offended, you've been warned!

DB Magee is probably the best English teacher I have ever had. He knows what he's talking about. The class periods flow very nicely & that's all thanks to his outstanding charisma. He does grade you hard, but it's completely necessary for students success in the long run. To this day I still use the advice he'd give me on my papers back. He cares!

He grades a bit tough but he takes his time throughout essays and goes over each essay in great detail of what he is looking for. so just pay attention and follow the work and the essays will write themselves. I personally hate writing essays but in his class I always knew exactly what to write and did not take hours to start an essay.

He is an amazing professor! Such a tough grader but I learned so much! He will show you how to put together an essay from start to finish and go through EVERYTHING. Participation and attendance are required in order to succeed. You will leave a great writer without a doubt. If I had more English classes to take I would choose his.

I have never respected a professor as much as Professor Magee, he is an inspiration and an amazing teacher. I have struggled with writing my whole life but it changed once I took his course. Professor Magee is a tough grader and you do need to attend his class in order to pass BUT he will break down an essay from its root in order for you to learn.
