This instructor is great. Very helpful. Always willing to answer questions and help the student in and out of class. I am looking forward to the next semester. This course is tough, but instructor makes it understandalbe. Highly recommended!

Dr. Maring goes out of his way to make sure that you pass this course. He gives the student ample opportunities to bring up grade averages through various assignments. I would recommend highly.

Dr. Maring is a great teacher. He gives you extra credit on every test you take. This is a hard class and I believe that the students who are bad mouthing him are the ones who haven't studied and are falling the class. We are in school to learn and that means studying hard!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Maring is a great teacher. He takes time to explain the material well. Those who are giving him a low score are just mad because they didn't pass. If he didn't care about our grades, he wouldn't give so much extra credit. Stop being lazy. :)

I would recommend this teacher. He helps you when you ask. He gives you chance to pass if you show that you tried. He is really nice and gives bonus points.I was sick for a month and i was still able to pass his class with his help.

Makes learning fun

He made a&p fun and easy for me. I enjoyed coming to class. He offered many opportunities to make a good grade. I highly recommend this teacher. If he taught every subject i needed, i would pick him everytime.

He is a great teacher. Very smart, knows his subject extremely well. Clear and consistent, so you know what to expect on tests. Gives alot of extra credit. Overall, one of DBCC's finest, even though we don't agree on schools.

He teaches fine, all you have to do is study your notes for lecture and study your diagrams for lab and you'll get an A. It's a lot of work and a hard course, but that's just Anatomy not the teacher. This course is basically just memorization!

I am a 48 year old man who is changing careers and I haven't been in college for over 20 years. I had the privilege of having Dr. Maring for my A&P Instructor last semester. I also have the privilege of having him for A&P 2 this semester. Dr. Maring is a phenomenal instructor. Two thumbs up.

Dr. Maring is a very good teacher who gives you notes on all the material that will be on the test, what more can you ask for. He can be intimidating at 1st, but is willing to help, when asked. The material in general is hard, and you have to work hard if you want to pass. Read the BOOK!

I have had Dr. Maring for both AP1 and AP2. I have had no problems. He does expect you to pay attention in class. Contrary to the person who said he does not have a sense of humor, he does have a sense of humor. The tests cover the information taught. AP is not an easy A class, you actually have to study. This is not a class for slackers!

If you are looking for a class to "text message" through...this isn't it. What one gets out of this class depends on the student's ability/discipline to self-teach. Dr. Maring is more than qualified/fair; if you read all material BEFORE lab/lecture it is very helpful. Do the work...you will be fine AND know the material.

Not an easy class by any means, but Dr. Maring does a great job of teaching it and making it interesting. He lets you know exactly what is expected of you. No surprises.

Great teacher for this class made it fun and interesting, not boring at all. Used alot of powerpoint slides and detail. Understood everything he explained. Would recommend to anyone who takes A&P use this teacher He ROCKS.

Dr. Maring has the best attitude and enthusiasm that I have ever come across. Excellent guy, funny, and great to talk to. He definitely enjoys discussions about good movies, so update him on movies as frequently as u can. You go to class, print out the notes, and read the text, you'll do GREAT. one advice: dont be lazy.

Dr. Maring will teach you everything you need to know about Anatomy. He prepares you for every test and is more than willing to help if your having a problem. Gives tons of extra credit. Its impossible to fail this class and not learn anything. ONLY take this teacher.

Great teacher, fun class, but not an easy A. There is opportunity to make 10 pts of xtra credit each chapter, and you don't need a book, but it is helpful for 4pts of xtra credit on each test. Testing is hard, just stick to HIS notes and you will be fine. His final was open book and notes. I really learned alot in his class & had fun too.

I was struggling in this class,but I was turning in 99.5% of my work even though I didnt do as well in the tests, he consider all the efforts I put into it and pass me. Not an easy class. Dr. Maring is very clear on what is on each test and what he expects of each student. Happy Holidays..from a B student!

Dr. Maring's classes are intimidating when you first start but overall, you learn an enormous amount of information over a short time and it's not as painful as it seems like it will be. His personality helps out a lot making jokes through class and he develops relationships, he doesn't just forget who you are. He knows SO MUCH too, it's amazing! K

Dr. Maring is a great teacher. If you talk to him and let him know where you are and what you are having problems in, he will help you out. Last week of school I had a stomach virus and I missed my lab practical. This man stayed another day when he wasn't feeling well and gave me a verbal practical. He's a very giving man, but you have to try!

Dr. Maring is a wonderful professor. He was very understanding when students had to make up work. He gave a lot of opportunities for extra credit. I would highly recommend him to other students and I have. Can't wait to get started on A&P II.:)

Dr. Maring obviously loves his subject and communicates that to all of his students. He worlds hard to find ways to connect the subject to our daily lives and yet never sacrificies the comlexity of the subject along the way.

Dr, Maring is a wonderful instructor, very informative, and was a joy to have for A&P I and II. I would highly recommend him if you have to take him. :)

DR maring, is one of the best professor i came in contact with. If you like science, and dont mind studyin, then youll get an B or A in the class. If your lazy you wont pass. Only down fall is that he always has few tricky questions on his test, so you gotta study the book also in relationship to the notes. On a personality level he is a GREAT guy.

He is a great professor if he see's you trying hard and have any questions he will help you. You have to study the notes and refer to the book for further information in order to pass his exams I give him a 10 he is hot in a Sean Connery type of way go CUBS!!!!

Good teacher, very easy to get alonge with but taking A&P 1 is summer is nuts. tons of information thrown your way and the tests are very specific. You have to really understand the concepts (E.g. what happens if this happens, what is this happens, what if this does this) type of thing. good teacher but not easy. lots of studying

Dr. Maring has been one of my favorite teachers I've had yet. Just by being in his class you can tell he loves teaching Anatomy. He is also a professor who loves when people ask questions, so if you have them ask them!

I don't agree with the previous poster! Dr. Maring is the best professor. He does everything short of spoon-feeding students and you're a fool not to take advantage of the extra credit opp's. He's also entertaining and has respect for ALL his students. The proof is in his MANY positive reviews here. Bad reviewers likely did not get a good grade!

Very respectful and generous with his extra credit opportunities. This is a difficult course and studying outside of class is certainly required. He will help you with any questions you may have and I was very pleased to have had him as my professor.

What a great professor..This is a very hard class,but he has an easy goingway of teaching.Even if you dont do well in tests you still will understand anatomy.

Dr. Maring is the most organized instructor I have had at DSC. He gives you all the notes you will need for class. His test are very hard, but he gives tons of extra credit. Many people in the class avg 60's on tests and still passes the class. I am about as sharp as a bowling ball and i still got an "A".

DR. MARING IS A GREAT TEACHER! The BEST instuctor i have had at DSC yet! The course is tough, but he gives you all the tools you need to do well. I don't understand some of the poor ratings. You will have to study, but he gives you the notes. His tests are only "tricky" if you don't study and prepare. The extra credit helps.

Dr. Maring is an excellent teacher. He gives you pre typed notes and all you have to do is fill in a few blanks. His tests come directly from these notes. A&P is a hard class, so you have to study no matter who the teacher is. I received an A with Dr. Maring, and with hard work, anyone can. I would recommend him.

Great teacher who really cares if his students succeed. He does play some videos in lab every once in awhile but they aren't too long and I think it's great for someone that is a visual learner. Not sure why there are negative reviews on here. Don't take this class if you are lazy and looking for an easy A. This is Anatomy. It's not easy.

I took both BSC 1085 and 1086 with him and felt I learned a lot of useful information about human anatomy and physiology. A very organized and excellent teacher. Not an easy class, but if you put in the hard work and come to class, an "A" is not hard to obtain. Make sure to do all the assignments and any extra credit he gives out.

I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Maring as my professor for A&PI during the summer semester. During the shortened semester the material was given at an extremely fast pace. However, Dr. Maring took the time to make sure all the material was covered and understood. He offers creative ways to learn and many opportunites for extra credit.

I had Dr. Maring for A&P 1 Lecture and Lab portion of the class during the fall 2011 semester. The class material was tought but Dr. Maring made the class fun and was always there if you had a question. Anyone who has to take A&P should take it with Dr. Maring, with his teaching and some studing anyone can get a great grade in the class.

He's changed. I had him for AP1 and he did test reviews for lecture and practicals. This semester he didn't. Also, he gave us a unit exam and midterm back to back right after spring break. Before we left for spring break we asked about midterm and he said we'll get to it when we get to it. Be prepared for nasty surprises with this teacher.

Whew, what a semester! Online AP1 required work! There were no surprises; we were tested precisely as informed. Dr. Maring' analogies really helped me practically relate material perplexing to me. I learned so much, and really feel rewarded for the effort put forth. Great experience with him!

This is definitely not an easy class or an easy A. You will need to STUDY and prepare for class and labs. Dr. Maring is a wonderful professor and gives you all the tools you need to succeed in his class!

He was a great instructor. He helped us out many times and gave us ample chances to succeed. I really appreciate everything he did for us.

Dr Maring is extremely knowledgable about this course. The material is tough, however he gives you the tools you need to succeed. He is well prepared and organized. You must study and work hard but he will make it fun. Find a study partner attend SI do what it takes and you will learn a lot of be successful in this class.

Really great professor! Easy, down to earth guy. I needed this class in order to apply for the PTA program and even though I had to drive twice a week just for the lab (I had online class) it was worth the drive. Got an A in both, just need to keep up with it and you'll do fine.

Great teacher who is willing to take the time to get you to understand. Gives many extra credit opportunities and they also help you learn the material better. Replies to emails quickly. Makes jokes, which can help you memorize!

Take advantage of extra credit, textbook really not necessary since he tests you on what's mentioned in powerpoints. GO TO SI! The Study guides have the answers!

I loved Dr. Maring this semester. He is thorough in his lectures, prepares you well for the tests, and gives extra credit. He truly wants his students to succeed and I am so happy I took him for AP1!! I am taking him next semester for AP2. He's a great professor.

Maring made Anatomy enjoyable. He is straight forward with what he requires from you and what he will test you on. He will help you whenever you need it and gives plenty of extra credit options. If I could take maring for all of my science courses I would. He wants you to succeed and if you put the effort in he will make sure that you do. TAKE HIM!

I had Dr. Maring for AP1,and will be taking his class again for AP2! He is very fair and his grading criteria is also very clear. As a plus, he's very nice and funny, very approachable! 10/10 would recommend! :)

Dr. Marings A&P 1 class had some awesome lectures that kept my attention. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities for students to get those extra few points that will bring them a higher letter grade. I appreciate his style of teaching which gives food for thought. Will be taking his class next semester for A&P 2.

I've had Dr. Maring for A&P 1/2. Fair grader in both classes, you just need to study and retain the information to be able to practice the practical. As long as you stay up on the weekly quizzes and do well, the practical is fairly easy.

I took Dr. Maring's A&P 1 Class for 2021's Spring Semester Online. There will be a lot of reading with some homework. He posts lecture videos going over the material and lots of slides. There are also helpful handouts that you can use on the tests! You can earn extra credit. This class isn't easy, but if you do the work you will learn and pass.

He wasnt that difficult, a lot of work but thats normal for any college class. I would definitely take him again, he is very understanding and helps when you need.

I took Dr. Maring's AP1 Lab. It was online, which I'll admit was not the easiest thing ever. It was a lot of work, but that was expected, given that it was an Anatomy and Physiology Lab. I recommend going to his office hours and/or SI. Dr. Maring would always help me if I asked for it.

He is very good teaching, he post his power point and also you need to do activities with connect. This is not an easy class but I think he give all the information and differents ways to learn. The only thing is that you spend a lot of time with this class, there are too many activities but I think that helps to learn in this class!

Dr. Maring is amazing, he is always readily available for any questions and or concerns. He is very personable, I looked forward to attending his online lab and lecture each week. He is very upfront of what it takes to succeed in this course. I wish I could continue all of my classes with him as my teacher. Heather Lundin

Dr. Maring is excellent. He is very knowledgeable about the subject and gives amazing insight on what is key to carry with you in your career moving forward. He gives excellent tips for memorization, especially on heavier topics. When it comes to your lab practical and exams, he always makes sure you are well prepared and grades very fairly.

I absolutely adored Dr. Maring. I took both AP 1&2, as well as labs, online. If you follow the weekly curriculum and attend the virtual lectures(or recordings) you will do well. There is a lot of material but that is to be expected. He is very knowledgeable, fair, and gives clear expectations for grading. If you have the chance, take his course!

If you have the chance to take Dr. Maring, take him!! I took AP1, AP2 +Labs with him, and I'd take all with him again. The course itself isn't super easy but the way Dr. Maring has it set up, as long as you stay on track of your weekly assignments you'll be fine. Dr. Maring is super kind and he really wants his students to succeed. Take him!

Dr. Maring is a wonderful online professor! I have taken both AP1 and AP2 with Dr. Maring and although this course is extremely heavy with information, his organization of the material makes it easier to understand. As long as you're committed to spending the time on the guided notes and studying, you will do well on the exams.

Great teacher, has a great assistant (S.I. teacher) Lindsey, and she is very helpful as well so attend her meetings! The class is great he is fair and I took him for API & APII. Obviously its a tough class and there is a ton of content but stay on track, do your homework, attend S.I classes and you will pass!

Lots of information to take in with this class but Dr. Maring helps it not be so overwhelming with all of the helpful resources he provides to help you really understand the information.

Unfortunately, I was unable to take him for APII but he has many resources available for you to understand and retain the information to pass the class. He also offers extra credit if you participate in group lectures!

Dr. Maring is an amazing professor. He taught us so well. I highly recommend and I would take this class again.
