Ok I couldn't Stand Dr. M for A&P1 I absolutely hated him. Honestly I thought he was the WORST instructor i ever had! I even rated him that way But OMG something happened between then and now(I think he got poked with some kind of good teacher dart)He is a good instructor that seems to really care(OMG I said that)about his students.I Recommend him.

Dr Maring is an outstanding teacher. He keeps class interesting & though it is alot of info, does everything he can to help. He has a great personality & is always making little funny comments to keep the class entertaining. He is the best teacher I have had for A&P. Its not an easy class, but the sub matter is serious, and should be taken as such

I took Maring for AP1 and made sure I was in his class again for AP2. He is very concerned with making sure his students understand the material and feel comfortable with it.

Dr Maring is not easy to understand at first but all he really wants is for his students to love a&p as much as he does . I know we all wish we could try to teach him our jobs in 9 wks and test him to see how well he does. Ya know hed ask for xtra credit :)

professor maring is very good at giving the students every opportunity to pass his class, besides just using test scores. not many professors are that flexible. He shows caring and very positive about your outcome even when you're not. he's very pleasant, great personality all around. his test can be reasonable, but you do have to study.

Really nice guy, easy to understand & funny. Taking him again for A&P II, and really looking forward to it. All of his tests follow his notes and lectures perfectly, so there are no surprises. As long as you come every day and study, it's easy to score high. Tests are open book. Lab practicals aren't, but again--study study study!

Dr. Maring is perhaps the BEST anatomy prof at DSC. If u put in the effort, u WILL do very well, AND he gives opptys 4 extra credit too. Notes are helpful / tests are very fair / sometimes tells jokes 2 liven the mood in lecture & lab. If you're taking during a summer session, be prepared for breakneck speed! He knows his stuff and u WILL learn!

I agree with the last post. If your in a summer class expect to keep up. But he is a great teacher overall. He just expects you to know your stuff but he teaches everything you need to know. Plus he helped me learn some unique ways to remember the mater.(i.e koolaid and diffusion) And he'll always find some way to earn extra points.

I love his teaching style, He is a great teacher! He gives you the notes so you don't have to write a bunch of stuff throughout the class. Always helpful, and easy to talk to. The class is not easy, but you get what you put into it. I've taken his class for both BSC 1085&1086.

One of my favorite teachers ever! Hard subject, but he makes it fun. Available when you need clarification, fair when you have any problem that will affect school. I started his course expecting a C and ended up with an A.

I just finished his summer course and very much enjoyed it. He has an understanding way of grading which included droping of a test and xtra credit. I would very much recommend attending everyclass, attendance/homework points really helped my grade, but dont forget this course is very hard so....study study study! :)

I think he is full of himself. Some people loved him but he has a holier than thou attitude that is very off-putting. I would choose any other teacher for this class.

Hes pretty cool, nice & likes to crack jokes. AP1 takes some effort, dont leave studying for last minute. Gives opportunities for extra credit. Lab is just memorization and was boring.

I have realized the ones who have a harder time understanding do not take the time to communicate with him. He is always available and easy to talk to! Dr. Maring is an informative, but just teacher. For that reason, some may falsely perceive him as crude. This is college. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that you have to earn your grade, and that is apparent in A&P1. As tedious as the course can be, Professor Maring holds students attention and reiterates key facts -- you will learn.

Great teacher who really cares if his students succeed. He does play some videos in lab every once in awhile but they aren't too long and I think it's great for someone that is a visual learner. Not sure why there are negative reviews on here. Don't take this class if you are lazy and looking for an easy A. This is Anatomy. It's not easy.

Dr. Maring is a great teacher. He tries to make everything as clear as possible since this class is supposed to be difficult. The person who wrote on 6/23 is failing his class most likely due to the fact that she is at least 15 min to every class including to tests. But Maring is great and offers creative extra credit to those who can think of it.

Dr.Maring was my professor for both Anatomy I&II. I did not find his class easy but I did not expect it to be. This is a subject that you must study and put some work into learning the material. I found him to be nice and helpful. He is more than generous with extra credit. He wants you to have a good understanding of anatomy.

Took Dr.Maring for AP2 after taking another popular instructor for AP1. So glad I switched. The course is hard, but with Dr. Maring you have a much better chance of achieving a good grade (esp. if it is a prereq for one of the health careers programs). He gives extra credit, and he teaches you what you need to know. Tests are hard but doable.

I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Maring as my professor for A&PI during the summer semester. During the shortened semester the material was given at an extremely fast pace. However, Dr. Maring took the time to make sure all the material was covered and understood. He offers creative ways to learn and many opportunites for extra credit.

Anatomy is a challenging class. It does not matter who you take. Dr. Maring was great! He did everything he could to help the students succeed, so in my opinion , if you study and do your part, you will do well. He's changed. I had him for AP1 and he did test reviews for lecture and practicals. This semester he didn't. Also, he gave us a unit exam and midterm back to back right after spring break. Before we left for spring break we asked about midterm and he said we'll get to it when we get to it. Be prepared for nasty surprises with this teacher.

Awesome illustrations and explanation during lecture. Tests and quizzes were fair and appropriately challenging. Lecture was always lively. Almost never strayed off topic. I liked the humorous pictures and photographs he put in his power points. I did not appreciate having a test and the final in AP1, but that problem was solved in AP2.

I took Dr. Maring for A&P 1, and have to say I was blessed. This course itself is very difficult. Attendance is mandatory (in my opinion). One word: Please keep on top of your studies, especially for his class. He likes interactive students. Ask questions, and simply take notes, see him if you don't understand. Very organized professor.

Tips: Make sure you do not ask stupid questions like 'can i get extra credit...' that is very disrespectful, and plus you must it up for the rest of the students. Study, because this course is pretty tough. Have fun with it, you'll make it. Do not slack towards the end of the semester, it will kick your butt. He has PPP, and very interactive. :)

Im really happy i had him as a professor. The course is tough, study and follow his guidelines. Make sure to take notes, ask questions. I had Dr. Maring for AP1, online. It was definitely challenging, as we covered so much material. Any email/ questions I sent to him were answered promptly. The presentations were clear. The requirements were clear. This was a class that required effort. There were no surprises; we were tested on the material covered. Absolutely rewarding exp.

A&P is a HARD class. Dr. Maring makes it easy. He is not confusing with his assignments. You have to study for this class though, do not think ANY A&P professor is going to let you skate by so be prepared to work for your grade. The class is so hard. I got a B and that is with extra credit in lab and attending SI. He was a fine professor, sort of monotone, and he definitely gives you a lot of student notes that are helpful but be prepared to put a lot of work into the class.

Dr. Maring was a great professor. I commuted 30 minutes just to take him for A&P 1 and A&P 2; it was well worth it. His tests are very straight forward, he also uses word banks which makes it a lot easier to do well on the tests. Great teacher I was studying the wrong things at first, then I started going to s.i , taking practice test on pearson mastering, recording the jeopardy games and all that really helped me at the last min. Take advantage of ALL extra credit you will need it. He is a great teacher for such a hard course but I will b taking ap2 with him in spring.

Took his AP1 lecture and lab. Found it to be really easy if you followed his biggest piece of advice - read the chapter before the lecture starts! If you read the book, take good notes, and show up for lectures the tests are very easy. Dr Maring lectures well, nothing to call home about but very satisfactory.

Dr. Maring can have a really dry sense of humor almost appearing condescending. Sometimes the way he talks to you when you ask a question can be a little belittling BUT other than that I felt like he was a good teacher. He lets you have a lot of extra credit if you wish and trust me you want to do it. Over all a 7 out of 10 teacher.

I have taken DR. Maring for Fall2016 and Spring 2017 for A and P 1 and 2. He is a wonderful teacher. All his exams are online for lecture and every week in lab you will have a 10 question quiz. A and P 1 we had 2 practicals and in A and P 2 we only had 1 practical. Over all he is an 8 out of 10.

Amazing teacher! Offers plenty of opportunities to do well. The information listed on his lab and lecture outlines is the only information you will be tested on. All information is found in either the PowerPoints, or lab manual. There is no searching for information. No need for lecture textbook. He does an excellent job at explaining information.

If you're serious about the health care field and want to ace A&P, then do not hesitate and take Dr. Maring's class. Dr Maring gives us so much extra credit work and that helps with a letter grade NO JOKE. I would buy both the lecture and the lab books because it helps a lot. The lecture exams are always online, the quizzes in his lab were not that hard you just have to study and pay attention in class and you will be fine. I HIGHLY recommend taking his class.

To preface, AP requires a lot of effort to begin with and his class is no different. Lots of studying and homework in general, but if you can get by that and put the work in, the class is fine. Honestly Best Anatomy Teacher. Clear and Tells you what he needs! Honestly learned a lot in only 6 weeks. If you're thinking about taking this in the summer A or B course DO IT. 10000% WORTH IT and fairly easy class just have your book open with you and ACTUALLY STUDY IF YOU WANT TO PASS!!

Textbooks aren't needed b/c they're in the online platform that you have to buy for quizzes and homework, but I preferred to also have hard-copies rather than scrolling for info. I'm going to take A&P 2 from him in the shortened term. Even though it will be hard, I want to stay with who I know. Take his class.

There is nothing bad to say about Professor Maring! He makes you work for your grade, but he makes it possible to succeed. I felt like there was a lot of homework, but all the homework made the concepts learned stick and you were better prepared for the tests. He was also very understanding about missing assignments.

Good professor. Anatomy and Physiology 1, lecture and lab. A suggestion is to take the lecture online, and the lab in person. Tests are hard. Assignments for lectures are all on Connect, and you don't have any in-class assignments. For the lab, you have a test every lab for an overview of whatever you did that day.

Dr. Maring is really focused on your success & encourages you to ask questions. Keep in mind that this course requires a lot of memorizing in a short period of time so be ready to study a lot outside of class. For the lecture midterm & final he allows you to use a composition notebook. Get ready for sheep eye & brain dissection. Amazing professor.

Dr. Maring was one of my favorite professors so far! He is a great teacher in lab and has a ton extra credit opportunities. Gives great feedback on assignments and is pretty flexible with assignment schedules. I took this as a summer A term class and one thing I will say is to manage your time well.

Professor Maring is very straight forward. I took this class Summer A and attendance was not required for us but he did provide an exit ticket quiz at the end of the class which was counted as extra credit points at the end of the semester. He is flexible on turning it late assignments. Manage your time well and this course is easy.

Dr. Maring was an amazing professor. I would absolutely take another one of his courses! I took A&P 1 summer. A lot of material to cover in a summer course but doable. Focus on revisiting homework assignments and quizzes before mid term and final. Dr. Maring is very interactive, encourages questions, and offers many opportunities for bonus points.

Professor Maring was a good online instructor. I found his videos informative and very helpful. I can tell that if I did take his course in person, he would be very personable. I enjoyed having him as my professor for A&P 1 and I am very disappointed that he won't be for A&P 2.

I had Dr. Maring for the A&P 1 accelerated lecture. The class is super straightforward. He uses McGraw Hill Connect for homework and quizzes. There are bonus credit opportunities for every unit. The PowerPoint presentations and guided lecture notes he provides cover everything you will be tested on. Easiest A ever!

Professor Maring is a great instructor who encourages questions and offers helpful feedback. While the coursework requires consistent effort, using resources like the textbook and Unstuck AI can make this A&P class very manageable. Definitely worth taking, even in the fast-paced summer term.

Honestly a great professor gives tons of insight on the class and how it relates to other real world jobs and give tons of extra opportunity's to succeed in the class as long as you get your work done and assignments done on time.

I really enjoyed having Dr Maring as API professor,he's very dedicated,great communicator and classes were well- structured. Looking forward to seeing him again,fir my APII next semester!!

I really enjoyed this class. It was an hybrid course. The class was online and the lab was in person. As long as you do all the pearson assignments and score really high you will earn a good grade in the lab portion.

Great prof! Goes through lectures in the lab class and then each class gives away extra credit to everyone in attendance with an "exit quiz" which he lets you keep trying until you get all answers right. The material is hard but if you pay attention when he talks, youll pass the tests. Already signed up for A&P 2 with him.

If you want to succeed and finish this class with a good grade, you really have to put in a lot of effort in studying. Mr. Maring will see that, and he is very kind and understanding. He always gives you opportunities to earn extra credit, and you must take advantage of that.

I took A&P1 as a hybrid class. The class itself is a lot of information. Dr. Maring sets us up for success by providing PowerPoint & guided student notes. His lectures are very helpful as well. He is very knowledgeable and it's nice to hear the material being explained in a relatable way. He wants his students to succeed. Put in the effort&you will

AP is not the easiest but this Professor made it possible to learn and to pass the class.

This was a challenging class, but Dr. Maring thoroughly covered the material. His lectures stayed on point, and he applied the topics to real-life situations. He will tell you what you need to focus on. He put effort into preparing the students for careers in healthcare. Highly recommend.

I never knew I would take an interest into Anatomy. Dr. Marring definitely is part of the reason. He explains things easily, answers questions, and then will expand a bit on a cool topic. He is a chill professor, that'll work with you, if life throws you a curve ball. I'm taking A&P 2 with him.

I really enjoyed Professor Maring this past semester. His teaching style in unmatched and you can tell he really loves what he does and making sure each student is getting the most out of his classes! Highly recommend!

Professor Maring has great teaching energy and explains things very well. He uses real life examples to help us relate to the materials and helped answer any questions that I had in the classroom or through emails.

The class contains difficult material to learn but the professor try's to make it interesting. From the story about actin and myosin to the 12 days of cranial nerves the professor made learning interesting and gave us tips. The teacher also offered extra credit for things like playing kahoot. I enjoyed the class and am taking a&p2 in the spring.

I only needed A & P l for the program I am applying for. However, I am enrolling in A & P ll because of Dr. Bruce Maring's ability to make every class fun. His hilarious wit, inspiring lectures, interesting labs, as well as, the respect and care for his students made the 2 hours per week drive time from Daytona to Deland and back worth every mile.

Dr. Bruce Maring might be the best AP teacher possible. He gives students time to participate in lecture with kahoots, he tries to be funny and entertaining with a topic that's really hard to be entertaining. This class taught me how to study better and prepare me for the nursing/health program. He gives guided notes so it's easy to follow, 10/10!

Dr Maring is a great A&P professor. He has a thorough knowledge of the subject and relates the material to both the medical field and everyday life which helped me a lot. There is a lot of work to do outside of class (I took the hybrid course) that is necessary to remember the complex terms and concepts in the course.

Dr. Maring is clearly enthusiastic about teaching and welcomes questions. He is very understanding of inconveniences and will work with you if needed. He is definitely a teacher that will give you a lot of respect if you give it to him. He gives you all the materials (and more) that you would need to succeed in the class, and I learned a lot.

I wouldn't say the class was super easy, but it wasn't too hard either. As long as you put in the time, you'll do well. Dr. Maring is excellent, he follows schedule and is very organized. Make sure to study for at least a couple of hours daily, and you'll be fine. A&P is fascinating, it's so cool to learn about our bodies and how they work!

Dr. Maring was a great professor to introduce us to anatomy and physiology. He really cares about the student performing at their best on the exams. He does a great lecture that is easy to follow and take notes on. Overall I would 100% take this course again with him.

Best professor to take for AP1 and AP2. The way he explains the material and simplifies everything is awesome and so useful! He also helps anyway he can to prepare you for whatever program you are trying to get into.

Dr.Maring is a very respectable professor, he works with you every step of the way and has clear lectures. Studying is a must!

Take it from a burnt-out high school senior, anatomy and physiology was a class I always looked forward to. He made lab and lecture fun. He was tough but fair and was always happy to help. You can tell he is someone who genuinely enjoys teaching as he was always happy and loved when students asked questions or for help. Take A&P with Dr. Maring!
