One of the most well attended lectures on campus. He is very clear about his expectations and goes out of his way to make sure you are able to do well in his courses. He will happily chat with students about the class, or just about whatever comes to mind. Incredibly approachable, very knowledgeable and just an awesome professor.

By far the best prof I've had in my 4 years! He was nominated by students and won an award for his teaching! If you attend all his classes and read over your class notes there is no doubt you will get a good mark. I recommend taking his classes if you get the opportunity! Best prof!

LOVE HIM! Tall and lanky genius with an oversized head who loves old school rap and creating awkward moments that the class cracks up to. Wish this was 5 days a week instead of 3! I think this is the only class in Univ where I've been to EVER lecture! His smarts may come off as intimidating but he's really approachable esp for a good laugh :)

LOVED this class. He's a really funny/interesting prof and his lectures were hilarious. Some of his exam questions were really funny too! Relies mostly on class info...I got high 80's just studying of class material. He's really fair with midterms, and took questions with poor performance off. I wish he taught more classes!

My favourite prof thus far! He has a good sense of humour and is able to explain complicated information in a simple way. I learned something new every class! Study mostly off the lecture slides and you should do well ! My only complaint is that the final exam was much harder in comparison to his midterms

Amazing Prof ! Hilarious and interesting lectures and most important challenges you to consider the sources of the information you are learning. Not simply a memorize and forget kind of class!

He definitely gives references if you haven't been a research assistant of him. You need to get on a more personal level with him so he see's you're more than just an ok student. He inspired me to pursue psychology and do well in school. I can honestly say I'd have no clue where I'd be academically without Bruce. Don't be scared, he's just awkward.

Bruce is the best professor at Laurier. He cares about his students and his research so much and it shines through in every aspect of his profession. He is kind, understanding, and most importantly an amazing academic mentor. He's ridiculously smart and a very hard working, determined individual. If you have an opportunity to work with him, do it!

Absolute gem! I've never looked forward to a class this much in my life... only time ever a 3 hour lecture flies by. Bruce is very entertaining and a very effective lecturer. Take PS268, you'll love it.

Bruce was an amazing professor! Class was always interesting, and he taught it with such enthusiasm; he clearly likes his job. Although the lecture was 3 hours, he had my full attention for the whole time. Only con is that he gives hard tests, and you NEED to attend lectures because he puts content on his slides that aren't in the ones he posts

Very passionate about what he teaches. Keeps class interesting and has a good sense of humour. His tests are difficult if you're not prepared and studying from the textbook and going to class is a must. For biopsych: make a rap video, you won't regret it. And for Drugs and Behaviour: listen to his stories, he may test you on information in them.

Who knew biopsych could be so much fun. Dr McKay really knows how to connect to the lecture material. I definitely recommend this class!

Bruce is the ideal prof. He makes every lecture interesting and worth attending. He is relatable, approachable, funny (especially when he tries to hard), and provides ample opportunity for every student to succeed. I would say attendance is mandatory due to his infectious love of knowledge.

One of the better psych profs I have had at Laurier. Is very relatable to the students, and his lectures are extremely interesting. Go to class and you'll do well.

Dr. Mckay is by far my favourite prof at Laurier. He is absolutely hilarious, and you can tell loves what he does, and is therefore super interested and knowledgeable in his field. That being said, he is a VERY hard marker, and his tests are long and difficult. This was one of the hardest classes i have taken in all of uni, but my favourite!

PS268 is definitely the best class I've taken so far. The material is interesting on it's own but it needs to be delivered well in order for students to be engaged and Dr. McKay absolutely does that. He's highly knowledgable, funny, engaging and 100% relatable. Asking questions during lecture isn't intimidating, he makes himself very approachable.

Dr. McKay has the most entertaining lectures, and you learn a ton from him. I loved coming to class. Kind of prof, with whom you wish you could chill outside of class. The tests were tough, it's true - mainly because he tests you on legit everything.

Amazing prof, like mentioned in previous posts he is very approachable and knowledgeable. Classes are interesting and funny. Midterms can be tough however the textbook is written by him and is given to you for free (bonus). Many bonus marks available so doing well in his class is very possible.

You would go home and want to relay what you learned to friends and family after every class. Not to mention he's hilarious and a total babe. Bruce is one of my favourite profs ever. Lecture was from 7pm-10pm but I never missed a class because he made them so entertaining. His MC questions can be a little tricky but if you have good class notes and read his textbook you'll get an A!

By far my favourite prof, provides the textbook online for FREE! Midterms are kinda hard but the class was super amazing. Has three midterms worth 21% each, final worth 30%, but LOTS of room for extra credit!

Honestly the best professor. This is the only 3 hour lecture that I have never left early from. He makes the content really interesting and gives great examples with the stories he includes. His class is midterm heavy but the questions are so straightforward I could easily finish in 20 minutes. Would absolutely recommend this class!

By far one of the best profs I've had in my four years here. Lectures were entertaining and interesting. I will forever remember his myth busting experiments. This class is not easy however. Bruce asks very specific tricky questions so make sure you know the smallest details.

By going to class and reading over the (free) textbook, you're more than prepared for the midterms. Amazing prof. Taught drugs and behaviour throughly and did not "preach" about anti drug use, which was nice. I took the course online but during the first week he stated that you can attend the lectures if you wanted to, providing there was room. There was multiple quizzes to keep you on track as well, midterms and quizzes were also fair.

He is simply the best person I have come across. Very respected with a big heart which clearly shows he loves what he's doing!

Bruce is a very kind professor. His tests involve multiple choice and fill in the blank, the multiple choice part is easy, but fill in the blank can be a bit tricky. Make sure you know your spelling or you will get the wrong answer. Even if you are simply one letter off. Other than that its a class worth taking!

Bruce is great! Lectures are fun, educational, and entertaining. He has a number of bonus assignments. Did not need to buy a textbook. He wrote his own and uploads chapters as the term goes on. The chapters are relatively short but cover all necessary material & can actually be funny. He even includes song lists at the end of each one

Took class online. If you read the text book and fairly good at memorizing the details you do great. The textbook is not bad, confusing at times but gives a nonbias approach. The only thing is there is a lot of information but definitely able to get an a+

Super fun lectures with lots of examples in the lecture and in his textbook to help you understand. He gives 2 extra credit assignments, with one of them being able to boost your grade up a full letter mark. He gives you his textbook online for free as well and bases all of his lectures off of the text. An amazing prof!! Would take his class again

Bruce is a great prof and he makes 3 hour lectures bearable. I fricken loved that he wrote his own textbook! He's relatable without being cringy (most of the time). You definitely have to study for the course though. Don't try to wing the midterms and final - it won't work.

One of Laurier's best profs! His lectures are the most entertaining that I've experienced during undergrad. He is funny, cool, and really knows his stuff. The course offers extremely valuable info and you can even get an entire GPA boost from extra credit. Study hard for tests though, they can't be winged. I highly recommend Bruce and this course!

He is AMAZING. I would retake this class just to be with him again. The best class. Missed it so much once COVID started, I loved the lectures and I'm not normally a big lecture person. Best 3 hours of my week, genuinely miss it. Wish I could have invited him over for a beer after and been like life long best friends (not in a weird way)

Drugs and behaviour was hands down the best class I have ever taken. Never missed a lecture because it was so fun to listen to Bruce. He is extremely knowledgable and a really caring guy. As long as you read the textbook (that he wrote himself) you will do well. Short chapters that are super interesting too! 10/10 would take this course.

The other comments for this class will do it for ya. Clearly a hilarious and awesome lecturer. Very fun content with the perfect person to teach it. I will always remember the Valentines day class where I brought my boyfriend to the lecture and he made us stand up in front of everyone and explain why we love each other, classic Bruce.

I genuinely wish I could've taken this class in person instead of online because even the online content is SO fascinating and he seems like a really fun prof but due to COVID only online is available. My favorite psych course by far and the discussion posts are ones I actually enjoy taking part in because the content is so interesting.

Like everyone pre-COVID said, hands down the most awesome prof ever. It's a shame it's an online course now, because the REAL magic starts once you see his lectures in-person. He's an incredibly funny candid guy and makes the already interesting subject he teaches a blast. He also wrote the course textbook and is now the dean of psych, so yeah....

He posted the textbook for students to use for free. Exams were all open books including the final. His lectures were super interesting and he interacted with students a lot, listening to them and allowing them to speak freely. There was only 1 assignment, 3 tests (out of which only 2 count), the final and 2 bonus marks. Really enjoyed his classes!

Professor McKay is by far one of my favourite professors at Laurier. He is super passionate about what he's talking about which helps because the lectures are pretty lengthy. The course information is super interesting and he delivers it in such a great way. Not to mention he's hilarious. Only downside is the tests are difficult; know your stuff.

Most interesting lectures ever, even though they were 3-hour lectures, I've never been in a more engaged classroom. Everyone was excited about his classes and they were thoroughly entertaining.

hilarious and interesting, his in person lectures were something i looked forward to. course content and slides are similar but definitely use the textbook to study, (he writes it so it is free, (and interesting)). pay attention to details and put in effort and you can do really well. got an 89 on the exam. it was 135 questions and 90 minutes.
