You're the man Bruce!!!!
If anybody can't do well in his class, it's their own fault. He is very clear on his topics, and if you study you should do very well! I like his teaching!
You have to study for his tests, but he is very clear about what he wants you to know. He knows his stuff and you can tell he really enjoys what he's talking about.

Drink something with plenty of caffeine in it before you go to class...you'll need it to stay awake.
Looks like Superman if he woulda been raised in Ethiopia. He's incoherent and his voice is more gruelling than Ben Stein. However, he does make it very clear what you need to know for tests, but be ready to study hardcore.
He is so monotone, all his class is good for is a nap!!!!!!

It's a tough class but it feels great to work hard and EARN a good grade! Dr. McNair is very helpful.
Take two stackers and drink lots of coffee before going to his class because you will need it. His tests are very difficult and over half my class failed!!

To not get an A in his class is to be retarded. The most boring man ever, but easy as you're gonna get in college. Enjoy an easy A folks, it gets harder!
Dr. McNeesy is a great person who just happens to be an average teacher. His strengths are better seen in smaller class sizes where discussion is possible. Otherwise he just drones softly during the lecture and bores the students.
Funny
Dr. McNair's class is very boring, but extremely easy. He gives an outline for his lectures AND gives out a study guide. How many professors do that?

Monotone prof, but good class.
completely boring and he has some kind of eye twitch
very good prof. get him if u can
He's awesome! If you like history, you'll love him! Tests are easy if you play attention and take good notes.
Good teacher
TERRIBLE...DOESNT HELP AT ALL..
Drones in monotone but, man! does he know what he's droning about!! His tests are synch just fill in the outline and you're guaranteed an A!
Even though he is monotone, he is a very good teacher. He knows his stuff very well, and is very intelligent. He also throws in a few jokes in and they're actually funny. If you like history, take his class. I'm taking him for western civ 2.
It might be a little hard to tolerate at 8AM, but he really helped me through it. You do have to pay attention, but his tests are all mult. choice, and NO ESSAYS/PAPERS!!! Brownie pts for McNair! His kids are cute too. :)
I can't believe there are still people who whine about Dr. McNair. This is my second semester in his class and he's still a great professor. Take his class if possible.

sorry, but this was the most boring class i have ever taken in my entire life! i love history, but this man made it a living hell and i got nothing accomplished. if you fill in the outline, you are not garaunteed an A that is bull. he could quite possibly be the worst teacher i have ever had.
had him for two semesters. really easy. not too boring. gives study guides for tests. spend a lot of time studying source book, though. good teacher. easy tests. learn lots.
How can anyone vote bad against this man?? He is awesome! If God was a figure on this Earth, he would be in the form of B-Mc.
Dr. McNair is really one of my favorite professors on campus. I took him twice. He is a bit monotone, but he can be hilarious at times. I found his class interesting, and with four tests and study guides for each of them--it was a piece of cake. Cares about students...I would def recommend him.
Dr. McNair's tests are not very hard and he gives you study guides, so you now exactly what's going to be on the test. Tests are multiple choice, no short answer!!
the class itself isnt hard if you study for the tests and follow the study guides he gives out. At 8am though, this was the most boring class of my life. mostly lecture but no outside work, just a little reading.
He is a good teacher and if you actually listen to some of what he is saying it is actually really interesting. The test can be hard, if you don't make sure you know the Geography he gives, the general time line of events, and the readings that he gives you.
I had this joker last Fall Semester(04), and let me say he was boring and a nerd. The biggest nerd I have ever met (and not in a funny way). I mean, it's sad, really. He asks questions about the reading, but didn't listen to the answers. Then, about five minutes later, he gives an answer using the SAME WORDS that his students said. Boring too...
I'm not wasting my time typing about this guy. AVOID HIM!!!
this man sucks...he needs to get his stuff straight, his notes conflicts the books...and he hates it if you ask him a question.
Dr Mcnair is a good professor. All you have to do is take notes in class and do the assigned readings and you'll be good. I got a B in I and an A in II.
Easy class & easy test! TAKE HIM
his class is very easy. all you have to do is take notes and do a few readings. just make sure you know the readings for the tests and you'll do fine. i definitely recommend taking his class!
dr. mcnair is definitely one of the most easiest and enlightening history professors which i have had the pleasure of coming across. his study guides are concise.. his test ridiculously easy, yet the lectures can at times be boring. manage to stay awake and take good notes, study them and you'll get a guaranteed A.
Dr. McNair is great. He provides outlines for every section, as well as a review sheet for tests. You need to take careful notes, but if you do you can just review them before exams and ace it. And if you listen carefully, he throws in jokes in his lectures!
Dr. McNair is really smart and knows his stuff. I don't like history and couldn't really click with the material. It was an easy class though. Just four tests and the final is noncummulative.
This class is so hard.
Very, very boring...I hate history and he didn't make it any more interesting than it was before...His tests are NOT based off his study guides...the majority of it is based off the source book. Do your reading, don't stress over the study guide info. but KNOW the source book.
Even though the class is kind of boring, it's an easy A. Just take good notes, do the study guide, and read the Sources book, and you have a guranteed A. He gives out outlines and reading guides for each unit and the study guide a week before the test.

He is a really nice guy. His tests are tricky. You really have to know your stuff. Make sure you take good notes and read the source material.
good professor. interesting comments keep you awake.
He is kind of boring but as long as you take good notes then his test are pretty easy.
Dr. McNair is a great teacher! He gives an outline to each secion and study guide for each test. We dont use the textbook for his class, mainly just the Source Book. Pay attention and take good notes and read the source readings he asks you to read and youll make an A. Dr. McNair will also throw in some jokes with his lecture, and a MontyPython cli
i loved dr. mcnair! he was so funny...he's like an adult-sized dork, haha, he was great. there are only 4 tests, and the last one is not cumulative. just take good notes, do the readings, and study, and you'll get an A easy. i studied the night before for every test and got an A on all of them. i'm taking western civ II with him next semester, too.
HATED THIS CLASS, especially with McNair! He based his test mostly on the source book readings. If you didn't understand the readings you were screwed! The regular text book and a general understanding of the material will not help you at all. Sit in the front row or you might fall asleep, but if you do fall asleep he will be sure to wake you up!
The class was pretty easy if you pay attention and read the textbook and the source books. the tests arent that bad. overall the class is pretty chill and not that stressful
Tests were straight from the notes. final exam was not cumulative. Kinda monotone but always throws in a joke or two during class. Make sure you read the source book and pay attention when he goes over them. good notes aren't necessary if you pay attention
McNair is one of the easiest teachers I've had so far, he tells you when to write down key points, tests are straight off your notes. He gives you a guideline to fill out at the beginning of each unit that you can use to study. Final Exam is not cumulative. All you have to do is Read your notes and the Sources to pass this class.
As a Biology major with little interest in history, I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Dr. McNair's tests were STRAIGHT from the handouts and notes. He speaks in a monotone but is very funny and has lots of good stories to tell. As long as you study the source readings and take decent notes, there is no reason not to make an A, or B at the worst!!
McNair is awesome! I highly recommend him.
Dr McNair is a great professor and his class is easy if you just study and take good notes. Don't wait to study the day before a test. Ol' Brucie always throws in a good joke or two. He's my nigga.
Though he does have a monotone voice, he keeps his class interesting. There was hardly any work to do, mainly just read and study. He only gives four tests; therefor, you only have four grades in the class. So, if you are not good at taking test then you might want to take another class. Very nice guy though.
Mcnair is a great teacher. LIke other people have noted he only has 4 tests. That's it. The great thing about this though is that the tests come straigh from his lectures, so if you take notes you're golden. Also if you take this class make sure you study the maps he gives you too! Overall, really enjoyed his class and his humor.
Easiest class of the semester. All you have to do is show up, take some notes, study his study guide and review the printed readings he hands out. Only issue I had was his monotone voice but other than thay he was great.
Professor McNair is very monotone, but actually pretty funny if you listen to what he says (He likes to throw jokes in there.) His tests are straight forward and they come completely from his lectures, which by the way, his lectures are the best I've ever had. It's so easy to understand him and I already have him for next semester.
He is one of the best teachers I have had at Campbell. Super nice! I would recommend him if you have to take a history class.
Very funny guy and great teacher. Easy to pass as long as you take good notes, along with the study guide that he gives you. Offers extra credit, which you should totally do.
If you take him do the reading packets!!! they will help a lot in the end. TAKE GOOD NOTES!!! Test can be confusing but come straight from his lectures and the reading packets. If you take good notes you should do fine.
I absolutely love Dr. McNair. His lectures are fantastic. Very inspiring. My first class with him made me change my mind about being a psychology major. Ever since my life has been history.
He's hilarious but tests are ridiculous.
Gives extra credit of 12 points . Tests are ridiculously hard.
Class was the most boring thing I have ever taken. Lecture dates and dates in the book did not match up. Tests are ridiculously hard if your not a history major can forget about making a decent grade in this class. Would not take another class with him.
Monotone. Tests are tough. Take good notes
McNair is as monotone and boring as they come, but his study guides (given before each test) cover all you need to know. Very knowledgeable; did nothing but lecture straight through history, but at least stuck to tested content. Cracked one hilarious joke about why they call it the Dead Sea, but I was the only one awake in my 8 AM class to laugh.
One of my favorite teachers ever!! He has a weird dry sense of humor and I really enjoyed his lectures. I had no papers just 4 exams. The exams had a map, chronological, and multiple choice portions but he gives amazing study guides.
His tests are SERIOUSLY wicked hard. Be prepared to read actual historical documents that he hardly goes over in class and have half of your test be over them. He has such a monotoned voice that it is really hard to pay attention. He does offer 12 points of extra credit. (3 points per test). Your 4 tests are your only grades.
very very very monotone, tests were extremely hard. all he does is talk, he has no powerpoints and what is on test is unclear. do not take
Read and listen
I would definitely recommend Dr. McNair. He's nice, funny, and open to questions. You're graded on four tests and you get plenty of extra credit opportunities. He hands out outlines for the lectures and study guides for the tests, which are helpful. He doesn't assign too much homework, and homework is mostly reading.
All he does is talk the whole class period and you don't have enough time to write everything he says down. Study guides are just topics that were exactly like outlines given in class. Test were extremely hard. Reading guides need to be known for every test because there will be questions about what they are about
McNair lectures without power points but gives an outline to go along with his lectures. He gives daily readings that you can complete for extra credit towards a test. Your grade will consists of the four tests that he gives throughout the semester. Study the maps, chronology, and terms that he gives you heavily before a test.
McNair is a great person: super nice, and hilarious. He constantly has me laughing in class. But he isn't a great professor. You will understand your notes but the test is EXTREMELY HARD. Its hard to comprehend what he's asking on the multiple choice. You do get a lot of extra credit opportunities, do them! Don't take if you're not good at history.
McNair's class is great for auditory learners because the tests are based almost solely off of his lectures. Don't miss lectures, take notes, and pay attention in class and the class isn't that hard. McNair was the only history teacher I have ever had that didn't make me hate history class.
McNair is nice man, but his class is little hard. During lecture his goes really fast through the powerpoint. Test are really hard. You will need the textbook for the map. On the test there is chronological order, map, multiple choice questions.
Monotone, but funny. Pay attention in lecture and do the reading packets with questions and you should get A's. Only graded on 4 unit exams.
Attendance is crucial in this class. Pay close attention to his lectures and make sure to always take good notes. He grades solely on four tests throughout the semester. A benefit of taking McNair is that you don't have to write any papers or take any quizzes. He also gives extra credit reading assignments.
His lectures are very boring and hard to listen to and some of his lecture notes are inaccurate but he is a nice guy, just didn't enjoy his class at all
Attend every class! If you miss a day you will be behind! My best advice to you is to do all the assigned readings as they will add up to bonus points at the end of the semester. His grading system is based off of 4 exams. Combine those scores together and you know your grade. Those assigned readings I mentioned earlier are on the exams as well!
Only grades on test! Attend every class and you will do fine. His readings are "optional" but DO THEM. Every test will ask questions about them. Do the extra credit too! He gives you alot of chances, take them.
Mr. McNair is probably the best history teacher I have ever had. I had him for both Hist 111 and 112. There is very little homework and only 4 tests. However, they are not difficult, and he has a peculiar sense of humor that I like. He is absolutely EPIC. *smiling face with sunglasses emoji*
McNair really is a sweet guy, but he is a boring teacher. His lectures are long, but he tries to throw in a couple jokes. I never read the textbook and made an A. Make sure to do all of his extra credit assignments, and he expects you to be in class. He will refuse to bump you up a point. Not a bad class, but Im glad its over.
Professor McNair is an amazing professor. He gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit that you shouldn't pass up considering you only are graded on four tests throughout the semester along with the final exam. Very caring and knowledgeable professor!
Dr. McNair was a great professor! His tests were all online and open note, so if you copy the powerpoints in class, it should be an easy A. Textbook only used during tests to look at maps. He offers many chances for extra credit through his reading guides, so definitely take advantage of that! He also rewards in-class participation! Would recommend
I enjoyed having this professor. His expectations are clear from the start of class and tells you that you will have to study to pass. There are only 4 tests graded with built-in extra credit during the semester. If you read the textbook and show up to class to take notes you will pass. I truly believe the ones who are complaining are not.
I have take a couple classes with Dr. McNair, he a solid professor if you want to pass a class. He is really nice and always willing to give good feedback. You will have 3 test, and a semester long book review. The book review is very easy, as long as you keep up with it. I suggest talking to him during office hours if you have any questions.
Mcnair is a good guy but I am someone who cannot learn by someone just telling me information. This is basically his whole class. The only grades that go into blackboard are the test grades and there are four of them. If you fail every test, you are failing the class. There is extra credit though
Dr. McNair was a great professor. He presented the material on tests in a clear manner and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities as well as study guides and reading packets in class. He sometimes goes a little fast during class but is willing to go back and view previous slides. Also, make sure to write down important details he says in class.
I really liked him. Gives a good study guide so test are easy if you study. Take notes and do the out of class readings they will be on test. Study maps for test. You can tell he wants his students to succeed.
If you want a professor who is inconsistent in grading and wants you to read every sentence in the textbook this is your guy. He expects you to put things on the test that weren't discussed in class. He will also take 10 points off for doing what he asked for on the test. He is very hard to approach as he treats you as incompetent.
Perhaps it was because I took this class after lunch but his lectures were so difficult to stay conscious for. Do your reading!! The test had random questions from the reading and overall the exams were pretty hard to prepare for, don't underestimate it but if you study the material consistently you should be fine.
He was an amazing professor. Your grade is based solely on four tests, BUT if you take notes from his lecture slides on the unit outline and do the outside reading assignments, you will be just fine. You can do the reading assignments for extra credit (and they are on the test so might as well do them). I did not even read the textbook.
Mr. McNair is a great professor! Simply paying attention in class while taking good notes will help you earn a good grade. The class is comprised of 4 tests...and that's it! Extra credit is available every unit, so be sure to take advantage of that.
His lectures were boring but his notes were pretty clear. I know a lot of people struggled in this class but I don't really understand why. The only hard part I found were the maps. Other than that there were no homeworks and he gave extra credit every unit. Just very hard to pay attention. But that's all you had to do to study for the most part.
Class only has 4 exams, but each unit has extra credit (worth 3 points). If you do not pay attention to the lectures, which is very hard at times good luck. Make sure you do the reading packet or else you wont understand most of the exam
I really liked McNair. His lectures are pretty clear and he uses powerpoints. he's funny if you like dry humor. take notes and study the maps. wish I did the extra credit bc if I did I'd be finishing with an A. You only have 4 grades so be sure to studyyy for the tests. you will fail if you don't study/take lots of notes
Very difficult tests, the only learning opportunities come from lectures which are slide-show based.
If you pay attention in his class and take plenty of notes, you'll do well. To be honest, his class was kind of boring, but it's pretty easy. Mr. McNair is a pretty nice guy, so his class is bearable. The only grades you'll receive are the four tests taken in class, but there is an extra credit opportunity for each test, which I appreciated.
McNair's class can be tough, but with the right study tools like Unstuck AI, you can do well. Attend lectures, take notes, and take advantage of extra credit. The exams are the main focus.
You will be graded on nothing but 4 exams and the handed out “study guide” to help students is equally non existent. Do not take this professor if you don't have to
I personally loved Dr. Mcnair. His class was easy if you just pay attention. He gives you the note outlines needed for each section, and you just fill it in as he goes through the slides. His tests are easy as long as you study the maps and go over your notes. I personally found is humor hilarious, which made the class more enjoyable.
pretty nice guy, seems kinda nervous speaking in front of a crowd which is a little odd when thats your job but its whatever. only grades are 4 tests and extra credit. pretty easy class if you have a very baseline knowledge of history and gloss over the study guides
