He is extremely chill and laid back. The work in that class is managable and quite simple. I actually learned a lot from this professor. He does play a lot of videos, and that helps me visual.

This is a cool teacher. Easy to score for an A and also there are lots of extra credit that can give u an A. Take him while u have a chance.

Solheim is awesome. Yes, his class is a different learning enviroment but it is informative if you listen. He uses the history info and puts it in to a more interesting view by creating lessons using powerpoint. I never opened my book once, did the papers as well as possible and got an A.

Just because a teacher is easy doesn't mean he's good. If you want an A, take him, you'll almost certainly get one. But he's laid-back to the point of inducing comas, his "lectures" are rambling (& since he posts his notes on the web, makes it easy to skip class), & he show WAY too many MOVIES.

He's very easy. His classes are more about the experience and striking some feelings than they are about actual work. He has very little if any actual work, but does have video review reports to see how you reacted to the films he often shows. Very layed back guy, nice, likes to talk about situations. Mr Solheim is very bright, he is a patriotic American, and seems to have a big heart. However, it seems he has lost his passion for teaching. He shows up late almost every day (5-10 min.late)and some of his lectures were watered down. He could teach a much more interesting and higher caliber class if he had more interest. Easy grade.

He's a pretty chill guy and doesn't really care about attendance, but there's alot of writing and the final was a five-page historiographical essay exam on what you think caused the Vietnam War. After taking this class, I had no idea! Also, if you're not strong with writing, don't take this class!

I read alot of reviews, and it seems people down grade him beacuse he requires a lot of writing. If you are unprepared to write or work a little, why are you in college?

Good funny teacher, but i didnt go to class much or even took down many notes nor did i even read the book. The midterm was easy and so was the final you get assignments as long as you do them and turn them in easy A.

his class was very easy. as long as you understood the notes and skimmed through the book like he said to. his midterm and final are straightforward, so you should get a good grade if you try at all. he knows a lot and loves to share it, so it makes for a VERY interesting class, as well as easy. i mean i got an A easily. would DEFINITELY recommend!

I had this teacher for Winter2012. All his quizzes are online as well as the midterm, but they are very tricky you have to dig deep in the book for the answers. You also have reading questions due online as well which are fairly simple. He has lecture videos on blackboard just in case you miss. It is not very mandatory for you to go, but his lectures are not boring!

Great online class! He has it set up in which you should understand what to do. Bruce is a great teacher! He takes history and makes it relevant and interesting by giving you some of his personal stories. The online quizzes and in class essays are super easy and he even helps you figure out a thesis statement for your final. You can't ask for a better history teacher!

Solheim has a great online course, its simple and to the point. The midterm is multiple choice and the final is a 4-5 paragraph essay the weekly quizzes are only 5 questions, but be warned some of the T/F questions can be tricky! This is an easy class you should not get below a B or else i would question why you are in college

I'm not a history person at all, so I was not looking forward to this class but Professor Solheim makes history come alive. He really grabbed my attention with his own personal stories he would share to the class. Online reading quizzes every week. A paper and a super simple interview report. Easy teacher. Great professor, very laid back and very helpful. I was interested in the Vietnam War class in particular, because of my father having been in the war. Taking this class helped me in my beginnings of understanding what it was all about. Textbooks are mandatory, as you will be writing reports out of them. Midterm is online, final in class essay. A+

Took history 108 during the winter semester and it was a breeze - you'll need the textbook to complete the online quizzes and a comparecontrast biography, but aside from that, be sure to attend lectures because the midterm is based off of the lectures and not the textbook! Professor Solheim is AMAZING, I just took his class for Spring 2015. Seriously, if you have to take history take it with him. Not only is he very interesting during his lectures but the class is an Easy A. All your quizzes and tests are online except for the Final and thats an open book 5 paragraph essay. You cant go wrong with this class.

His lectures are identical, even word-by-word from his video lectures, which were recorded years earlier. Online quizzes, online midterm, 2 essays and one final essay. Easy grader. His classes run an hour shorter, discussions are not encouraged and he gets irritable if lectures are sidetracked by questions. Easy A.

Prof. Solheim was great! There are easy, weekly online quizzes, few tests, and an open-book final. There's no way you can fail his class. For both classes 107 and 108, read chapter(s) weekly and quizzes, due on Sundays at midnight. A lot of reading, but do-able. Recommend taking him for lecture if you have a love for history as he does. Extremely calm professor. Gives plenty of extra credit opportunities, but really are not needed. Easy class.

Taking the online course was definitely the best choice. Grade is based off of Reading Quizzes for every chapter, participation in discussions, 2 papers, a midterm, and the final. The answers from the quizzes come straight out of his book. are are easy to find. He was very helpful every time I emailed him asking for clarification or assistance.

It was a great class. I really loved how he gave the North Vietnamese perspective as well as the American. This class wasn't just a load of American propaganda. He gave us an unbiased presentation of the facts and allowed us to form our own opinions on the conflict.

Professor Solheim vividly describes amazing personal stories that relate directly to the course while giving you the education (most) people are striving for. I was enrolled in his history of Vietnam War. I love history and am majoring in it so this was an especially engrossing class. You need both textbooks but they are both cheap.

Took Professor Solheim for Hist 107, 108, and 155. All easy, and you can totally pass. He is an awesome professor and really cares about what he teaches.

Very chill, just make sure you go to the glasses that have the group presentations (theyre based off of his book, super easy) do the quizzes every week, he prepared you for the easy final, and the two projects are really easy too. Very kind and caring too, and he has some very interesting stories, that actually help you with learning the material.

Professor Solheim is the best history teacher, his lectures are interesting and his book is interesting as well. He put his own personal experience into the book her wrote and he talks about his personal experiences in class lecture as well.

If you did all assignment, you can get A easily. He has some quizzes, it only come from textbook and you can take quizzes in home. He has some group project that so easy. You don't have to be worried about his class

Dr. Solheim was an amazing Professor and I really enjoyed his class. I would honestly really recommend this class to everyone. He's supper accessible outside of class and gives amazing advice!

SERIOUSLY THE BEST HISTORY PROF I'VE EVER HAD. I hate history, but because of him I learned to love the subject. His lectures are so amazing and he incorporates his personal experiences to it. He always inspires and encourages his students. Take him before he retires, you'll never regret it!

Best professor I've ever taken. I love his approach to history especially as a veteran. History is my least favorite subject but he makes me enjoy it. Straight to the point lectures. Class environment very friendly, had a real lockdown on campus, let me tell you I trust this guy with my life literally! Cares more about students than anything else!

You need the book or you won't pass. 3 Discussion boards, 12 quizzes, 2 film reviews (3-4pgs long), 1 compare and contrast paper (5-7pgs long), the midterm was mostly out of the book, the final is an essay. This class is very doable, but I feel like he is a tough grader. Overall, I enjoyed this class because you can get ahead on your work.

I took his course in the summer and it was the easiest class I have taken. Speak up every once in a while and do your work and you should be fine.

Quiz every week, the answers are online if you google them, theres a midterm and a final and one report paper, super easy passed with an A

I was in Professor Solheim's very last History of the Vietnam War class and it was an incredible experience. His care and attachment to the subject with his personal history is tangible, and his textbooks (good price) are written by himself and are a really well-organized and "easy" read in that it wasn't droll. He's accomplished and really cool.

Solheim is awesome. He explains history so anyone can learn & understand its significance. He genuinely cares about teaching his classes. Workload is manageable, organized well & evenly spaced out. Responds to emails & most of what you'll need will be in the material he assigns. He makes everything relatable & easy to comprehend.

After taking this class I have grown to appreciate history even more. This was one of the funnest online classes I've had. I also enjoyed learning about his personal experiences tied into history. I recommend him to anyone that is interested in a great history class while also not having too heavy of a work load!

You should take his class for history. If you fail midterm, you should go to his office hour. He gives you chance to write an essay question.

Easy A. If you really want to learn this class may not be for you. Solheim is a chill and laidback professor but his lectures are not very engaging. History is awesome, but this class makes it boring. However, it is very easy which is helpful if you're juggling other classes, so for me, it gets a 5.0. Online quizzes, online midterm, and two essays.

I took Dr. Solheim for fall 2019 Theres a 10 qs multiple choice quiz due every Sunday for that weeks. 1 multiple choice midterm that covers from chapter 1-7 and 1 in class written final. Dr. Solheim is very passionate about history, cares for his students giving more than enough extra credit to pass his class. Take his class before he retires!!

Dr. Solheim is simply a down-to-earth person. He is very passionate about his work that he even wrote his own textbook. His lectures are interesting and makes learning history quite enjoyable. He gives out weekly quizzes online that are very easy. Work load is simply just reading and occasionally writing film reviews. I recommend taking this class.

Prof Solheim is the best professor I've taken at Citrus College so far. He really loves history and it reflects on his lectures. Homework is very easy and tests and exams are easy too. Extra credit that is easy points if you're willing to read extra and do some writing. He cares about his students and is a genuine nice and interesting guy.

I loved this professor. Very interesting lectures. If you watch his lecture videos on canvas youll pass all your test and quizzes. Not a lot of hw except the midterm and final 6 pg papers.

Professor Solheim is an outstanding professor and a nice guy. He provides ample extra credit, usually pay to play. You will not need the extra credit, if you do the assignments and read the material. You will need "Vietnam War Generation Journal" as well as the textbook, both have a nice flow and are enjoyable to read.

I took Professor Solheim for Spring semester online. He's a great professor who is very passionate about history. You will need the textbook to pass this class. He's good at responding and is very helpful for questions that you have. He offers plenty of XC that is based off of books he wrote which are very interesting to read. Great teacher overall

I took HIST 155 with Dr. Solheim during Spring 2020. The class consisted of discussions, 6 papers (minimum of 3 pages), interview project (4-5 pages), midterm (timed), and a final exam paper. He also provides a ton of extra credit if you need it & you do need to purchase textbooks. This was a very easy & interesting online class, highly recommend!

Professor Solheim is a caring teacher. His online classes do not have zoom and he provides videos about the assignments of the week. He tries his best to keep us motivated and provides funny jokes. The assignments cycled through papers on two books, Hollywood films, and many extra credit opportunities. Will definitely take him for other courses!

Professor Solheim was great. His class was very easy, with mine being an online class, majority of the class was graded on discussion boards and a couple short papers which are more reflective than anything. What was great about him is that he has such an awesome life story which is evident through the textbook that he uses lots of life experience.

Solheim's class is extremely easy. He wrote the textbook you need for the class and it's super insightful. He has a lot of knowledge and shares it well through his books. He gives you plenty of time for work and allows a lot of extra credit. A lot of the stuff is on Quizlet too ;)

Professor Solheim is a well organized, kind, and straightforward professor (and he answers emails). I have taken all three of his classes (107, 108, 155) and have enjoyed each. If you read the material, and do the work, you should get a solid A. If you missed a few points or need a buffer, there are always a few extra credit assignments available.

This professor is great! I took his online class. It was easy and very straight forward. The textbook we used was called "Of The People Volume 1" and Professor Solheim set up all quizzes based on the 2nd and 3rd Edition which means the text book will cost about $5 because those are not the newest Edition of the textbook.

There is an open book quiz for every chapter you read. 4 discussion responses. An open notes midterm with a short paragraph response. Two essays that were mostly based on your opinion about the Bill of Rights and the Gettysburg address. Final was an essay paper.

Liked this professor, the weekly assignment was like read a comic from the text book and do a quiz so it was pretty light and the comics were interesting!

5 years later and i still read Professor Solheims book! He was an amazing professor and I truly felt i learned so much while enjoying his class! In addition I loved that i didnt have to buy another textbook! Instead I got to learn about US history through the eye of an actual person.

Honestly phenomenal! I took Professor Solheim's history course during the spring session. Every week, there was one discussion board and a multiple choice quiz (all open book). One midterm (also open book). Four extra credit opportunities. Two final essays that are mostly opinion-based on progress. Buy the textbook at Cognella for the lowest cost.

He grades pretty easy and there is a lot of extra credit you can do. The one down side is that the materials are a little expensive, you have to pay for the extra credit books. Very easy class though!

Love that he includes his perspective and the little comic books at the beginning of the chapters. Easily accessible and very inspirational. The class and course are fun and easy. He is genuinely such a great professor, just do the work and you'll be fine. Gives extra credit opportunities, however, you must buy his comic books to do them.

Solheim is such a great professor and generally just an interesting guy. The textbooks a little pricey, but it was written by him and you get to learn a lot about his life and experiences. The class is very chill, you just do a couple discussion posts and open book quizzes once a week and there's two lightly graded papers at the end.

Professor Solheim's class is a breeze. With weekly quizzes and minimal assignments, it's an easy A. The textbook he wrote adds a nice personal touch. unstuck ai and ChatGPT were lifesavers for acing the quizzes.

BEST PROFRSSOR EVER

This class was honestly easy, I very much enjoyed his class and how he taught it. His books were very easy to read and informational, I learned things high school fails to mention or even lightly touch the subject on. Overall a chill professor as long as you get the work done which isn't hard! Would take again!
