This guy is great an old hippy teching you cant get any better, in the middle of my semester he went to amsterdam, he spends more time telling stories about his fun times as an adult and all the cool things he has done and the lessons he has learned!

He teaches not only speech technique, but also teaches everyone to be more open-minded. He was alot of fun. I looked forward to going to class everyday. He isn't afraid to be blantantly honest about issues. Love that!

Mr. Peterson is by far the best teacher I have ever had. He is very understanding and helps with everything he possibly can. The class was informative and Mr. Peterson made it a lot of fun with his stories. OH! and if you want him to like you participate and smile a lot, as well as be creative in your speeches... ;) i'll never live mine down!!!

Bruce in an awesome teacher. He is funny and his classes are light and fun. He does get off topic quite a bit but his stories are never dull. There are a few papers required in your class but he is an easy grader and quizzes are simple. The only downfall was the fact that he hardly ever stayed on topic; but overall a great class!

Great professor. Took this class during the summer and it was an easy, laid-back, fun class. Not too much homework, just a lot of class activities and interaction (duh, it's a communications class!) A couple papers, not hard. Great summer class--easy A as long as you complete your assignments!

What a hippie. I loved his teaching style, which is weird because I don't usually like such a laid back atmosphere. He truly loves his job!!!

I put that he is very hard only to try and get his score closer to professor wintz. In reality it is not difficult at all. If you show up and listen to him, you will learn and you will be a better public speaker. No matter who you are you will learn even if you don't do anything. It is quite amazing how he teaches.

This teacher is amazing! I would have all my friends take this class if I could. Mr. Peterson has got to be one of the best teachers i've had in my MCC experience. I also made friends in his class because most his assignments were group work. He's great take him!!!

He is a great teacher!! i heard every student in college will find that 1 proffessor that they feel most comfortable with and i believe Bruce Peterson is that one. hes great, funny, the best proffesor i had yet. prolly will stay that way too. he's real street and book smart and a people person. Im taking him again.

He is definitely not your typical Community College instructor. Such that, he actually CARES that you learn SOMETHING USEFUL. A communication class can be very easy if you already posses decent communication skills - and it can be very hard if you don't. He will help you learn what YOU need to learn to make progress. That's a good teacher...

He's a very funny teacher. He definetely keeps the class interesting. At times it gets boring because there is not a class structure it seems sometimes. But as long as you look at his online assigment chart and do the little assignments that take like 5 minutes each you'll get an A without a problem.

I got an A on every assignment even an A+ on a few except two B's and the way he grades is on a 4.0 scale causing those two B's to bring my final grade down to a B instead of an A. Fair? I would say not! I volunteered to do speeches first, I never missed a single class and was early. Great teacher but horrible choice in grading scale.

One of my favorite teachers thus far! I learned a lot about communication in a non structured environment. He has the best stories and a wealth of knowledge. Mr. Peterson is very well knowledged and very funny. I wish he could teach all my classes!

Bruce was a great teacher. I was not very excited to take a communications class because i have a hard time with public speaking. Throughout the class, Bruce helped and made the environment very comfortable. If you show up and try, you will receive the grade you deserve.

What an excellent experience! I wished this class was more than once a week, I looked forward to it everytime. His stories and life experiences were entertaining and I still learned quite a bit about communication. If you work with him he will work with you. His class is a must, even if not for a required course.

Mr. Peterson is a great teacher. I thought I was going to have a tough time in COM225 w/speaking & writing, but he made this class student support friendly. Attendance, homework, & speech assignment completion(!!) is must if you want a VERY high grade in this class.

I had public speaking with Bruce. It was probably one of the most awesome classes I have had since starting school. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to have a class where you pretty much just chill and talk about stuff. The speeches were reasonably graded, and I was very happy with how much I improved with such little stress involved.

Judging by the previous comments, not much needs to be said, but after todays class a young lady had thrown an irrational, immature fit, and told the class that she was going to "rate" our teacher out of spite and to make sure his scores went down. He did nothing to this student but be nice. This teacher gets 100% in my book. Absolutely Superb!

Mr. Peterson is a very nice teacher who gives helpful, and useful criticism with regards to giving speeches. He is also not hesitant to give students other points of view to consider instead of just accepting the point of view that the textbook gives you for the class.

Really cool class, I had a lot of fun and learned a lot of what I was "supposed to" from the book which was very easy to understand and informative. The class period was a lot of fun and we learned a lot of practical concepts from the professors stories on how to deal with certain situations. Bruce Peterson is a very interesting guy. His class is a piece of cake and is an easy 'A'. There were some days where I wouldn't want to go (just because it wasn't necessary) but overall it was a fun class. He really makes you feel comfortable so it's a great environment if you are a nervous person when it comes to speeches. He is an easy grader.

Still easy regardless and he really wants to help you and get you to critically think and understand the world, not just communication. Very cool and awesome guy! Very intelligent and a great teacher, though quite a few times I forgot it was a com class since he always goes off on history topics, but always skillfully ties it all together like a symphonic masterpiece. Listen for the deep lessons. Very inspirational and cares about helping the students be great people and influence society. would take again.

I have taken Bruce for two Com classes and enjoyed each one. Assignments are opinion based, therefore if you do the work with some effort you should pass easily. He is laid back with a good sense of humor and willing to help you if you need it.

I learned so much more than just communication from Bruce. He genuinely cares about students, is very laid back and acknowledges that college has been turned into a check-box game. He truly educates. He's easy to listen to and loves stories. He knows that "life happens" and is very flexible.

Prof. Peterson was hands down my favorite professor of the semester. I was NOT looking forward to a Public Speaking course, however he made it a comfortable learning environment. He is witty, wise and very well respected. Textbook is essential for chapter quizzes. Be sure to participate in class discussions on canvas.

I had zero public speaking experience before this class. After taking Mr. Petersons course, I feel more confident, intelligent, and superior as a public speaker. I took two of Mr. Peterson's classes and they were both wonderful. He is funny, smart, and overall a great guy. He is pretty available if you need to meet with him outside of class. His assigned speeches and quizzes are meaningful and not too difficult if you do the work and pay attention.

When I first went into his class, I was put off by how off topic he gets. As the semester has continued, I really appreciate how funny, kind, and caring he is. The way he goes about public speaking makes you feel WAY less nervous/anxious. He isn't too focused on the material, and cares more about you growing and becoming a better person. Great guy!

Peterson is a cool, laid back guy. Sometimes, he'll ask the class what we should do that day. He's got a lot of jokes. The only thing you (might) need the textbook for is the online quizzes. Otherwise, put your focus on the speeches and the book review paper. Whether you're good at public speaking or not, you should be able to pass this class.

Like the top review says, his lectures are WAY off topic. I was quite annoyed the first several weeks of classes at how the in-class didn't seem to match the homework we completed through canvas. Despite this, the professor is so lenient. Do the assignments, come to class, and you'll pass.

Dr. Peterson is a great person to have as a teacher, I wish he went to school some more to teach my other classes. He understands how to teach the class about concepts through natural conversation because this class is about communication! The text book is used for learning about specific terminology used for the assignments.
