Wow. This class has been amazing. Before I took this class I had hated history. After taking his class though I absolutely love history. He is very helpful and works with the students to help them achieve their goals. He is a great professor.

Before I took this class I did not like History at all, now that I'm this class, I've learned so much. I'm actually interested in History now. GREAT TEACHER!

This is by far my favorite teacher at JCCC. He is able to make every lecture enjoyable and fun. I hate sitting in class and taking notes, but he makes going to class like historical stand up comedy.

Mr. Walker was an incredibly interesting and kind teacher and person, yet his class was just too easy. I could tell he had a lot to teach and I wish he would have made the class more rigorous so I would have learned more background and facts. I ended up feeling a bit disappointed near the end.

Mr. Walker is a fair and honest teacher. He has an expectation for students to learn, but he will do everything possible to help.

Dr. Walker (not Mr) is an EXCELLENT teacher. Stories are the ones you WANT to listen to. Makes the class interesting, teaches REAL info vs politically correct info. Casual atmosphere, boisterous man. Would take other classes with him even though not required for degree. REALLY AWESOME!!

Really a nice guy and a colorful character. Makes an otherwise boring class interesting. Not difficult to stay alert and listen.

What a great guy! This class was very fun, i loved to come to it every tues/thurs morning. I loved to listen to his stories and hear his opinion on things. I definately reccomend taking any course from him because he is very easy to get along with and very caring about his subject and students.

what i want to tell u, that if u dont like to take HIST take this teacher and u will be fine caz no test just take note, listen to him, easy to take A's, take and u not lost.

Dr. Walker scared me at first with his completely vulgar and off-the-wall comments but proved to be one of the best teachers I've taken at JCCC. His stories about his experiences in Vietnam were the highlight of the class. Awesome guy.

I took this class only 1 day a week. He let us leave at least 1 hour early every week. No homework except for his 2 take home tests. Very easy and interesting. If you take notes you can get a A, very easy grader. If he likes you, you will pass the class. X-marine, fun to listen to his war stories. Comes off as scary but he grows on you fast.

Prof. Walker is an amazing guy. he tells you from the beginning that he dosent believe in political correctness, and tells you how it is from the beginning. He has two, take home essay tests, that you get about 3 weeks to work on. In lectures, he really brings it into perspective and tells you the interesting things. I would reccomend him in a sec!

I liked this professor a lot. He makes history fun and we learn more in his class.

Is the best prof I've had. Class is great, papers are challenging. He makes a boring (to some) subject extremely interesting. Not a boring class. Real life experiences bring it home. Very real and compelling. Great sense of humor and keeps the students interested. TAKE THE CLASS!!

The best teacher I have ever had for any subject. Mr.Walker maintains the ability to reach all of his students with his lectures. He really knows his history. If you think you know history he will tell you things you were never taught in school before. Those who have heard his amazing lectures will truly be changed forever. Please let them live on!

He makes his class fun and interesting. He does have two test; however they are just papers that you write. He understands how students want to learn and keeps it fun. I would take him again anyday. And he knows his history!

Dr. Walker is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He makes learning about our past so exciting and interesting! He requires 2 large papers, but he will help you as much as he can. He can be a little rough around the edges, but once you get to know he, he is great. Beware of moderate language, if you get offended easily, don't take his class.

Took his history 1877 to present. Awesome teacher for this class, thought it was very cool when he could give personal experience when it came to the vietnam war, the hippy movement(he was definately not one) and such things.

Dr. Walker is a great teacher. He is really funny, and portraits himself as a tough guy, when the truth is that he is a nice guy. He is always willing to help. You're presence is not required, however if you skip a class...for sure, the next class you attend you're going to be lost. The no-exam part is the best.

Professor Walker shares history in such a way that it is actually interesting, he tells you like it is, and his own personal experience is what makes the class. His grading is lenient toward the papers, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to work on them as well & keep up on attending class as much as possible or you may miss important info.

This man is one of the best history teachers JCCC has to offer. He makes HIST 141 sooo much fun and really gets you into it. If you ever get a chance to take any of his classes I would say go for it!! He isn't big into test so your grade is made up of two papers which he gives you all the info to write about and resources to get it done with an A.

Dr. Walker is one of my best professor at JCCC. It is easy to get A if you put some efforts in writting two major papers. I enjoy his class and what he teaches in class. He will show you 2 movies about the Vietnam war, and both of them are very emotional. Looking for another class with him. Took this class in Fall semester and got A

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this guy! This class isn't always the most interesting, it is after all history but Prof. Walker makes it fun. There is a little bit of work involved- two papers(which are opinion papers about movies) and one ten page paper that serves as your final. He gives you 8 weeks to do the last paper & you finish the class early!

I'm not a history buff but I thoroughly enjoyed Professor Walker's class. He made learning fun and his 3 hour classes felt like 1 hour! I would definitely recommend him for any class.

No tests. No book usage. Not even required to go to class unless it's movie day. Just write the 4 papers he requires, and you've got an A. Two of the papers are 1 page movie reviews, one is a 7 page paper, and the final is a 15 page paper. Take Bruce for an easy history credit.

2 big paper and 2 opinion paper. He is very professional to his region. will focus a lot on Vietnam War. He will show some historical movies, should be cautious to bloody scene. be brave to ask him questions, he will explain until you get the point! highly recommended.

Mr. Walker is by far the most outstanding teacher/professor I have ever had. This is my second semester taking a class by him. He is 100% helpful and makes learning very easy. His tests are actually research papers. They are difficult, but he will help you the entire way through. If you want to learn what really happened in history, take Mr. Walker

Loved this class. Lectures were actually very interesting and I learned a lot about history. As others mentioned, 4 papers (one tough one), and two are opinions. Really hard not to get a good grade. Appearances are deceiving. He turned out to be a very fair, cool teacher.

Great teacher! Hes an ex marine & has a great sense of humor. Goes off powerpoint for lectures. A couple movies, 4 papers, no final. Enjoyed coming to class. He always made me laugh!! I would definately take him if history isn't your best subject.

His lectures are very interesting and it is easy to get him off topic *wink wink*. He has a great sense of humor, works with you if you need more time handing in a paper, and grades fairly. He had research papers instead of tests tho, so if you donâ??t enjoy writing, donâ??t take his class.

He is a awesome teacher, i was nervous about taking history and he just made you feel as if everything was okay. The civil war paper and Jeffersonian papers were not easy but if you did the research and asked enough questions you will do great. sense of humor is hilarious. the best history teacher i ever had.

Without a doubt the best teacher i've had since starting college. I always thought History was boring - he made the class interesting and fun. 7 page n 15 page papers assigned but he will walk u thru entire thing if u need help - I will miss his class!!

This man is incredible. I cannot tell you how much I learned and how grateful I am. I have never taken a history class that kept me this engaged all the way through, it's my first year of college and I feel amazing going forward because of how much I learned and how great it was doing it.

By far one of the best professors I have ever had. I have never enjoyed history and usually failed at it, but Professor Walker got me interested. If you hate history or struggle with staying awake listening to it, I highly suggest you take his class. No tests or final, but two tough, lengthy papers to write. He helps you until you get an A.

Essay is the most important thing in his class. He likes to say some bad words but does not hurt anyone's feelings. As long you can write essay then you can pass this course easily.

Made history really interesting. Two big research papers due but no tests. The papers really aren't that bad, especially if you're already a pretty good writer. Even if you're not a good writer though, you can email him prior to when it's due and he'll proofread for you. Really understanding teach and really funny. Great class!

My favorite professor in JCCC. I've had 23 professors since 2008. He is an intimidating looking guy but he is very nice and straight forward. I have respect for the man because he is tough but he helps you out. His tests are just papers. Slacking off is not recommended. But the lectures are great. He involves the class whether it's talk or demo.

Bruce Walker is a great teacher. He has many degrees. He is very passionate about history. He knows his Stuff. I took his Summer course. As long as you ask questions you can get a great grade! He is very blunt. If you get offended easily don't take his course.

I love Bruce Walker! This is an easy class. There are no tests and no final exam. He assigns two lengthy papers (7 and 15 pages long) but they are not hard at all and he will check it and fix it for as many times as you would like. And you do two movie reviews, that is it! And he gives extra credit. He is hilarious and makes history interesting!!!!

Dr. Bruce Walker is a phenomenal instructor. I would highly recommend taking him for ANY history course you need at JCCC. Dr. Walker uses typed Microsoft Word documents and displays them on the overhead for his lectures. The class consists of two papers and two movie reviews. The two movies we watched are great and really interesting. He rocks!

Professor Walker is hilarious, rude, witty, non-politically correct, extremely knowledgable, an ex-marine, and does not give one $&*# about whether or not you like him. That being said - he DOES care about his students & wants you to leave his class knowing the truth. 2 papers, no tests, x-tra credit. Expects you to learn. Love the class!

Professor Bruce Walker is a must have teacher if you want to hear the truth about American history. Being a Vietnam vet, he is a little rough around the edges, but he truly does care about you and your success as a student. His class consists of four papers, two of which you merely have to turn in to get an A. No Tests. I loved his lectures!

Lectures every day but he makes every class day interesting and he tells it like it is; very up front about history. He lived through the Vietnam war and he's a great teacher. You'll only have 2 big papers to write & so you have to research for it a LOT. Follow his instructions to the letter & you WILL pass easily.

One of my favorite professors ever! He makes the lectures really enjoyable. You have two big essays, but you can send it to him via email or hand him a hard copy of your rough drafts. He'll give you feedback on what you need to fix for your essay. I really enjoyed having him as my professor, and I would definitely take him again.

Great Professor! Two big papers one 7 page paper and the other is 15 pages. And two small 4 paragraph movie reviews that we watched during class. My best advice is to take his class and when he gives you the instructions for the papers start on them right away. Procrastination didn't help me at all but I did end up finishing the papers.

Great professor. This was my second course. No tests, just papers. Lectures are crucial but placed in a clear and outlined manner.

Go To Lecture! Thats the best part of the class. Also only 4 assignments all semester. Two movie review questions, and two papers. Dont slack on them! If you use the time hes gives you their easy, but if you wait their murder. Also hes a very easy grader but the content has to be there.

Professor Hawk is amazing. He is real life, he has lived through it and tells it how it was. His class is something all should experience. JCCC is lucky to have him.

Alright listen. This guy is amazing as a professor. There are absolutely no tests, quizzes nothing, but he has four papers through the entire course and that's it. That's all you do. 2 movie reviews, 2 big papers. One was 15 pages and the other is 8. I procrastinated and it took me 30 hours to complete the 15 pager DON'T PROCRASTINATE & you'll pass

Take Prof. Walker for HIST class! He is amazing! 4 papers to write. First 7 pages, 2nd paper 15 pages and last two were 2 pages documentary feedback papers. Attendance isn't mandatory but do show up because the class is fun! Take him! He is GREAT!

Overall an excellent teacher. Swears often and is very politically incorrect, but his lectures are entertaining and thorough, and his papers are long but pretty easy to write. Very straightforward and easy to talk to. Very responsive online. His personality isn't for everyone but it is a truly enjoyable class.

My first rating had to be for Professor Walker, he truly is an amazing person and teacher that I feel extremely lucky to have had this semester. Go to class, listen to his hilarious and insightful lectures, and be prepared to right some papers. 4 papers throughout the course, and you better not procrastinate! If you enjoy history, take Walker!!

We wrote 4 papers 2 of which were movie reviews. Amazing lectures but take notes. They might be used if you need help raising your grade. The class was interesting and I will definetly take another of his classes of the opportunity arises.

Prof Walker is amazing. He gives 4 papers. The first is about Andrew Jackson and is 7 pages long. Then you write a short 4 paragraph movie review. The next paper is 15 pages and is about the civil war. The last assignment is another movie review (4 paragraphs). So 2 papers and 2 movie reviews. Papers are easy to write. Thats it! Great Military Guy!

Don't let him scare you the first day! He is a amazing professor he takes time for any questions you have no matter how insignificant. His papers are no joke though. Like really start them when he assigns them. He gives you back your grades in a timely matter and grades unbiasedly.

He lectures and wants you to write what he has on the screen down (extra credit), he loves Elvis and makes it seem like he is a hard grader, but I didn't think so. One 9p paper, one 15p paper, and two movie reviews. He really cares about your bibliographies on the papers but besides that is easy. Show effort and you'll be fine.

His lectures are never boring and they actually made me like learning about history. His class isn't mandatory but it sure helps when writing the 15 page paper. (Take advantage of him reading your rough drafts) It's nice though because there's no final in this class. Didn't think I'd like his class but loved it!

He will request 2 big papers some movie reviews for extra points, he will say exactly what he wants on those papers, follow his instructions, show up and you will get an easy A. If you don't show up you will feel lost in his class. Simple :D

Dr. Walker is one of the most interesting professors I've ever had. I loved his lectures. 4 papers, 2 research, 2 movie reviews. He's very clear about what he expects of you and as long as you show up to class and take notes on what he says is important, you will get an A. Wouldn't recommend this class if you hate writing. Professor Walker is a fantastic professor. His course is challenging, but can be an easy A if you work hard, as you should in any college courses. He will give you the grade deserved. He is very funny and makes funny jokes. The atmosphere is very laid back and comfortable. I highly recommend him for HIST141. He will not dissapoint!

I wish Professor Walker taught subjects outside of history because he was amazing! As long as you do the assigned homework and actually pay attention to your reading material you should pass easily. On multiple of my homework assignments I received over 100%, and was very understanding when I was home sick with COVID

For online there is NO test or quizzes. You have easy weekly assignments and two 5 page papers and 2 more papers for your mid-term and final. Honestly very easy to get 100 percent on everything if you just read his lectures and skim the book but get the book to help write your midterm and final but not hard. Id rather write papers than have test

Professor Walker is an easy class. My class was all online but there were absolutely no live classes. The work was posted on canvas with written lectures that we read and did assignments on. There are two papers, with easy subjects. He is an easy grader and you will end up with a high A or over an A like a 102%.

Bruce is an amazing teacher that I took for hist 140 during 2021 and I really loved the ease of the content as long as you know how to find the answers then you will do just fine. He grades very generously, even giving out extra credit for great assignments.

Professor Walker is great! In high school, I didn't do well in history and I was honestly dreading this class. With Professor Walker's lecture notes it made it easier and I actually understood what I was reading. I agree with the others saying he is a generous grader. Highly recommend!

I cannot recommend Professor Walker any more than I do. I loved his lectures and teaching style. He kept his lectures engaging, with interesting facts and stories. Only a few papers throughout this course, but deadlines will sneak up on you. Professor Walker is also a man of high respect, and I couldn't have asked for a better history teacher.

If you're looking for an easy A for a general elective credit, then you just struck gold, this class is it!

Mr. Walker was a good option for an online history class. You would have a weekly discussion and prewritten lecture with questions. 2 papers during the course of the semester. Overall is a good guy who grades quite generously but does not give clear criteria for the papers.

Professor Walker provides a very organized and straight forward course. I was in the 8 week course, so it was a bit faster than I had originally thought. This course is very paper heavy, so I suggest if not comfortable writing a lot, this may not be the class for you.

I took a history since 1877 with Bruce and felt that it was one of the easiest and most well structured class I've taken at JCCC. Everything was open online, if you had any questions about the class, grade, etc, he was fast responding & available. He tells you how it is and doesnt sugar coat. As long as you stay on top of your work you should pass.

Super easy course with very clear instructions. "Tests" are three-paragraph essays. Would definitely recommend!

He has so much passion for teaching and makes the lectures fun. He doesn't sugar coat anything so if you cant handle it, that's your loss. If your having trouble with the course he is always there to help. One assignment a week. Super easy and it helped a lot with his help. I would take this class again and again. Definitely get to know him!

Assignments are all writing assignments; they're rather easy though as long as you read the lecture transcripts. The finals and midterms are all writing assignments too!
