Entertaining and awesome professor who knows his stuff and teaches students for the greater sake of econ. Used to teach at Harvard so is the real deal. Highly reccomend taking his class.
Amazing professor. Really funny at times. Go to class and you'll get an A.
Pragmatic, down to earth prof. with a fantastic sense of humor to boot. Despite painful back problems, he still comes to class every lecture, dispensing knowledge and humor equally. One we stole from Harvard, too. He doesn't force you to buy the textbook or attend discussion if you don't think it's necessary (very libertarian outlook). Great class.
Bruce is the man. Period. Funny, clear, and has inexhaustible patience for the morons. One of the few professors who cares more about his students than about pleasing the administration or stroking his ego.
Prof. Watson is great! He makes his lectures interesting by throwing really funny jokes. He's a really nice person and helps a lot, so if your confused go to his office hours and he won't let you down!
Great guy, I suggest taking him if you're not really an econ person. I took his class, did the online homework went to a couple lectures and came out with a B. If you're not looking to go any farther than required with econ he's the guy to do it with. Simple explanations that everyone can relate to such as inferior beers.
Take his class if you don't like econ - you will end up loving it. Prof.Watson explains concepts really well, and his OH is totally worth going. His lectures are very interesting because he presents real-world issues. Loved this class, and aced it.
Awesome professor. Big lecture hall and discussions with TAs are optional. Goes over the powerpoints in lecture and puts them up online. Grade is from exams and hmwk but scores are curved. Textbook use VERY limited. Never used the reading book about economists. He's your professor for Economics. Clear and willing to help.
this guy is the man, awesome professor. Make the material very understandable, puts all the slides up online, and curves the exams. TAKE ECON WITH THIS GUY, you won't regret it. You obviously have to put some work into the course but its very manageable.
Professor Bruce is so nice, good sense of humor and the test is multiple-choice, i hate writing and i am always the one who seat in front of his lecture! Very happy to have him as my professor, caring
For all the material up until Midterm 1, you can not go to class and just study from the book and do well on the exam. But for midterm 2 material (all classes after midterm 1), go to class! Discussion sections are not required which is nice. Great professor. Only downside is we have 40 HW problems due every week when the other classes only have 12.
Great professor. Has a wonderful sense of humor and always seems to keep the students interested in everything he teaches. I was worried at first of doing poorly in the Honors section but he can teach and get the material across very well. Definitely take this class! Watson makes the class interesting and definitely a good start to Economics!
Pretty much the man, it'd be a shame not taking EC without watson
love this man. he made every concept crystal clear and kept the examples interesting. plus he curves to a B+ which is awesome. man was born to teach.
i was dreading this class cause i thought it would be so boring and difficult. but the professor is so great at explaining things and he makes it interesting and funny. as for grades, it's not easy. you do need to pay close attention and study to keep up.
Professor watson is a great teacher. He is very good at describing difficult concepts and makes some good jokes here and there. His grading system is awesome, scales to a B+, so its an easy A or A- as long as you read the text.
Great man. Uses funny examples sometimes. Overall, good class.
Amuzing lectures (only a few were a bit dry). He's a really interesting guy, and puts the material in a way you'd understand it. Sit in the front if you want to pay attention. Also, he curves everything verrrrrrry generously.
Easy to understand and tests are very fair. Don't buy the book, Aplia can be bought online and comes with a book
He is a good teacher...easy to understand and very clear. I learned a lot about Economics. However, he is very impersonal. Sometimes, it seems like he cares more about getting through the material than making us understand it. Make sure you work hard on the problem sets (I recommend study groups to go over the answers).
Great buy learned alot
Hands down the best professor I've had to begin life at BU. He is clear, concise, sparks relevant conversation, and overall provides a greater understanding of the economic world. He has an extremely generous B+ curve as well! If you have the opportunity to take a class with him, TAKE IT! Great guy, great class.
Watson is great! This was my first class on econ and he really made everything clear. He gives a good curve, but you definitely still have to study. Nothing is mandatory to attend, but he's really funny and you'll want to go to lectures.
Professor Watson is by far on the of the best professors at bu, the class was crystal clear in understanding, and overall he was helpful and a great teacher and person
He made what could be a dry subject really interesting. Great sense of humor. Lectures could be repetitive but other than that the class was easy. HIGHLY recommend this class.
Take this class with Watson! Seriously, best decision of my life. His lectures make everything easy to understand. If you miss them, he posts every slide online. Lectures and discussions are optional. Homework is done online and it boosts your grade. Two midterms and a final. Don't buy the textbook, Watson's slides make more sense.
His lectures are very clear, and his slides are always available online. He sometimes goes a bit fast in lecture, but overall he's pretty good in explaining the concepts. He also encourages asking questions in lecture. Aplia problems are okay, you have 3 tries.
If you're not an econ major, he's the guy to go for. Easy pace, lecture notes online, and review slides. Tests are a little tricky but you can figure them out
Best professor ever. I really have to say that his classes are the best among all my other courses. He teaches the material crystal clear. He does not require you to attend discussion. And he is really well-organized as he is able to fit the material in minimal lessons. Awesome. Thank you! Prof. Watson!
Ugh, I hate that everyone loves him because I went by these ratings and hated this class! Idson (another eco prof) is poorly rated, but I enjoyed him for micro because he teaches interactively on transparencies while Watson just talks and has powerpoints so it is harder to grasp (for me) and more boring.
Had him for EC 101 and 102. One of the best professors at BU (He used to teach at Harvard). He makes topics interesting. The tests are okay; he puts in some really tricky questions. If you had econ before then it's boring but otherwise his stories are worth going to class for.
Dull professor, easy class. Your choice.
Pretty funny guy, doesn't do much other than talk about the slides he puts up. Also curves around a B-. Pretty easy.
should definitely get a at least a B+/A- if you read the book. posts all slides, but really need to just read the book to understand the concepts. that said, book is fairly easy read. slides just sum up topics. weekly homework is not too hard and helps review concepts along the way. 2 midterms, 1 final. drops lowest midterm, all multiple choice
It's an easy class, but only because he drops the two lowest problem sets and drops your lowest midterm (out of two) so you should do well in general. Lectures and discussions are all optional, so it's easy to fall behind, because the material can sometimes be dense so you leave all of the reading until the last moment.
I absolutely loved Prof. Watson. His lectures were very clear and he really explains concepts well. He drops the lowest of two midterms, there are hw problem sets (dropped the lowest 3 of 9 scores), and the final. The final was hard, but overall great professor. Taking him from EC 102!
Watson is an excellent lecturer. Explains the concepts very clearly in lecture, and he posts his lecture slides online (which are clear and concise). Also a funny guy; injects good jokes into lecture. Midterms were easy, final was tricky but not bad. Drops lower midterm. Overall a great economics professor; can't wait to have him again in EC102.
Attendance isn't mandatory but if you go you will do well for sure. Professor Watson is one of the best Professors I have had at BU. He is a wonderful lecturer in class and great to talk to out of class. I took both EC 101 and 102 with him and only wished he taught other economic courses at BU so I could continue on with him.
great professor, he lectures w/ his powerpoints, and you don't need to use the textbook if you go to his lectures and pay attention, hw is done online through aplia, exams are multiple choice and there's a curve, overall a good class and a great professor
Watson's class made me love Economics. He adds little jokes into lecture and makes concepts so easy to understand. He wants the people who try to do well, curving by percentile and dropping the lowest of two midterms and lowest two of ten problem sets. Highly recommend this class!
Sweet man, very entertaining. Tries to make the subject as easy to understand as possible. One of those teachers who believes it is up to you to decide whether discussion/lectures are important to go to. If you have trouble understanding lectures, just read the textbook, it's essentially the same information.
He's a nice teacher. But his class may be a bit boring... I don't have much interest in econ, so I think his new-style exams are hard (no more multiple choices - all short answers, which may make students not majoring in econ frustrated).
I just finished taking the final for his Macro class and I would have been lucky to get 1/3 of the questions right. Apparently he used to be easy and fair, but changed his testing system this semester to make the class super hard. Don't take his class if you don't want to be discouraged on a regular basis with their ridiculously unfair grading.
1. Tests are short answer, which is terrible for questions that involve many possible variables. If you don't formulate the PERFECTLY CORRECT response according to the TF's judgment, then you're wrong. 2. The TF's grade all the exams and problem sets, which is horrible considering the TFs don't always go to lecture.
Watson's new changes to the class (i.e. written problem sets and exams) made the class much harder than necessary. However, I think he tried to make up for the failing grades (48 avg on the second midterm!) by making the final easy. This is my last class with him, next semester should be interesting! Overall good professor though.
Although Watson switched the class from multiple choice to short answer, there tends to be a very helpful curve on the exam. However, if your TF does not speak English, then you are screwed. Attendance is not mandatory but lectures are sometimes entertaining and very understandable. Overall, not that hard of a class and there's barely any reading.
I went into this class very excited to have Watson as my teacher but was sad to realize that the lectures were boring, the tests extremely difficult (changed to short-anwser) and the final was horrible as it was cumulative. If your TA isn't helpful/a harsh grader your grade is doomed.
People say this class is now soooo hard because of written HW and exams. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE?! If you go to class, study the slides (which are online and extremely clear), and go to office hours when you need help, you will do fine. The exams and HW are based right off of what we do in lecture. Anyone who says his 102 class is hard is just dumb.
If you take his class, don't buy the text. It's a waste of money and he posts his slides online (which is the information he uses for his problem sets and exams). His exams/problem sets are hard (they're all written) but you have 2 midterms (one dropped) and 10 problem sets (drops the two lowest), and a cumulative final. Curves by class percentile.
He ruined my GPA. He changed his whole style of teaching, and his tests/problem sets were borderline impossible. TA's were terrible as well.
I took this class because I was told that economics with Watson was really easy, unfortunately, he completely changed his classes format and now the classes are very hard and uninteresting. Watson himself is good but the TFs kind of ruin it by not grading fairly. DON'T TAKE, and if you do, don't buy the book.
great prof
He is hilarious! If you miss lecture you'll probably end up with a B or C just by using the book, but the problem sets and his tests are fair. Go to class and get an A stress-free.
Very straightforward, easygoing lecturer. Watson is good at explaining questions, the midterm isn't bad, and you really don't have to read the textbook. Plus Watson's economics jokes are hilarious!
He's a cool dude. His lectures aren't overly boring, and he's good at keeping people engaged even though it's a big class. He seems generally likeable and the tests and problem sets aren't too bad. If you have trouble, just go to the TAs and they'll help you out. This is my second class with him and I have yet to open any textbook so DON'T BUY IT.
Watson is a great professor! He puts all the powerpoint notes online, but go to class because all of his economics examples are hilarious. For the midterms, know the general concepts and how to do all the problems on the practice midterm and you'll get an A. I highly recommend taking his class; it's easy and fun
Really nice guy and good lecturer. Uses beer and drugs as economics examples to keep things interesting. For a 100 level econ class, he's great. Easy tests and online homework. Take him!
Class is graded on a percentile. ALl you need to use are the lecture slides. Don't buy the textbook. He even said in class that spending your time reading textbook would be a waste of time for reviewing the test. Watson is such an awesome professor. His ppt slides explain concepts fairly well. I wish he teaches higher level,so i can have him again.
Great professor, do all the extra homework problems and you'll get an A. The book is helpful but is not necessary
Makes the subject super-interesting! He incorporates current events which is awesome! Attend every lecture, forget that there is a textbook and you shall get an A!
Watson was a great professor. He was clear, encouraged questions and participation, and was relatively interesting. The class wasn't entirely easy, but it wasn't killer. Don't neglect the textbook. Reading it entirely is unnecessary, but you need to consult it occasionally.
Watson is awesome! He is a great professor and a friendly person. Get to know him outside of the classroom, he is really cool! A little heads-up, If you take this class with him, don't buy the textbook. He won't encourage you to read it anyway, and everything you need to know for the exams is on his slides, which he posts online. Best class so far!
Professor Watson makes economics come to life. not only with his high level of intelligence but he brings a light mood to the room with his funny jokes and real life applications to the subject. in a class of hundreds he manages to present the information in a way that is easy to understand by far more than what once could ask for in a professor
He is so good at teaching economics. The best quality is he teaches in the clearest way so that everyone can understand how the things work in the economy. Also, he is very logic in teaching. You can always see cause and effect in his class. H e raised my interest so much I live him!!
He just told us to burn the book and use it to warm our dorm rooms. Seriously, DON'T buy it. I got 100 on the first test without it.
Lectures were somewhat interesting, but very clear. However, midterms and final were hard. The curve that he grades on is unfair.
Personally, I thought Watson was incredibly boring and did not engage the class expect for when he talked about buying and drinking beer. He depended too much on slides and previous understand and did not focus on actually teaching us the information. Definitely not my favorite.
I had Professor Watson for 101 and 102 and truly enjoyed the class. Yes, sometimes the lectures are dry but he does a great job explaining everything. The grade is based on percentiles, which confused people, but generally it works out for the better. The exams are very doable if you do the practice exams and go to discussion class. I recommend him
Watson's classes are really boring..I try to stay awake in the class but always failed..What sucks most is that the grades depend on percentiles. So the deal is that even if you got 27 out of 30, you might still end up with a B if most of the other people graded higher than you. He just lets us sabotage each other..
I did all of the homework and practice tests, attended every lecture, and had an interest in Economics before this class, but Watson ruined it, his class made no sense and he made no effot to explain anything, class based on percentiles which ended up being the most unfair method I have ever ecperienced, DO NOT TAKE
Perfect Complements: "Beer and Beer"
I recommend him. He's a good guy. Funny. Won't talk to you outside of office hours. Discussion optional. I found that if I missed a lecture, I fell behind very easily because his powerpoints aren't easy to understand without his commentary. Many chances to do well - drops one midterm and two homeworks. Taking EC102 with him too.
Great time. Learned a lot. Inspired me to major in Econ.
Great teacher! Had him for EC101, 102, and 202. He's a bit of an odd character, but he's very endearing. He usually hates the textbooks that the Econ department makes him use for his intro classes, so don't bother buying them. Attend every lecture, pay attention, and you will do well in the class.
Easy A! That said, make sure you study before the final because he does grade on a true bell curve, and because the class is so easy, the average tends to be very high. I took both 101 and 102 with him because he explains the material very, very thoroughly, often going too slowly. The textbook is necessary for the problem sets, which are quick
Watson is my favorite teacher at BU. He was fun, energetic and used relevant, understandable examples and I'm not particularly into economics. The one negative would be his grading, I got A's on the Problem Sets and both midterms and made it out of the class with a solid B?! He grades on a curve system. I still haven't figured out how I got a B.
Had him for 101 and 102. I'm not a 'natural' at econ, so his lax attendance policy coupled with the fact that we didn't need to read meant that I didn't do as well as I could have. Doesn't answer emails. His slides get harder to understand without commentary as time goes on so be careful about skipping class after 1st midterm.
The final was hard and I don't like that if you do poorly on that it can completely ruin your grade (40%). He's very knowledgable and will stop lecture to answer someone's question. Had class been mandatory, I probably would've gained more, but that's ultimately my own fault. From what I've heard, he's probably the best Econ teacher at BU
This class was extremely hard. He graded on a curve system, depending on how other students did. So basically you're competing with other students. Only certain amount of students will get an A. He does not answer his emails either. His main TA does and it's annoying. This class was extremely hard and a GPA killer
Professor Watson is a nice and helpful man. Course content is boring, and sometimes it gets very confusing. However Watson would always explain the concept clearly. Exams are a little tricky and the grading system is based on percentile. So his grading criteria can be unfair, but you will get a good grade as long as you work hard.
ThIs class is easy if you read the slides, but you'll likely get screwed over by the unfair grading curve no matter how hard you study. It's not about learning, it's about being better than the people sitting next to you. Thank you Watson for ruining what could have been a great course.
This is an awful class, I would never have taken it if my major hadn't required it
Okay so Watson is definitely not my favorite teacher. His grading system absolutely sucks and screwed me over on both midterms. That being said, his lectures were easy to follow and usually pretty short. I went to every one and tests were *ok in difficulty, also easy H.W. If there's another option for econ, I would recommend a 'no' on this guy.
Watson is an awesome professor!Even though lectures are huge, he keeps stopping for students to ask questions and only moves on once every student has understood the concept. You have to be on the top of your work because his grading system is hard and deflates your grade.I still loved his style and recommend him. Don't buy the book, it is a waste.
The class is huge so you are not required to attend. I suggest buying the book because all the material you need to know is there. He also posts the lecture slides online. He curves the grade but it does not help at all, and in the online assignments it can easily take your grade down even if you have 90+. A good class i definitely suggest him.
The class is huge so you are not required to attend. I suggest buying the book because all the material you need to know is there. Make sure you do the reading because they will be on the exams. Online homework is hard and may take your grade down even with 90+ grades. A good class, i definitely suggest him for macro.
Super clear, easy grading system, funny guy. enjoyed the class
Easy lecture and great help to understand basics of Economics. However, his midterms' grade cutline is quite high. 2~3 misses would lead to grade 'B'.
Watson is a really great prof and clearly knows what he's teaching. He lecture is easy to follow, all you have to do is take notes. The grading system is tricky, but the tests themselves and the homework assignments are not difficult. I would definitely recommend this class.
Grades are curved, which can be tricky. But just make sure you study well and do the problem sets online then you're good to go because exams are based on them. To me they are easy classes! Definitely recommend them!
Good at explaining concepts. However, lectures are very dry and boring so you might lose focus and even missing 1 slide can get you lost. Grading system is absolutely ridiculous, almost impossible to get A. Grade components are spread out evenly. Practice questions and Problem sets are helpful because same questions come on the exams. Hard class.
For econ majors, his 300 level electives are the best electives you can take. He's always crystal clear and makes sure that you're ready for exams. His attendance policy is lax, but if you go to class once or twice a week and go over the lecture slides, you'll get an A. Definitely recommend him for all econ majors.
BRILLIANT PROFESSOR. Watson is my favorite professor at BU! He is awesome at explaining concepts and is also very helpful outside the class. Go to class and try and ace all the online problem sets. Tests are easy but he deflates your grade. His curve is the only downside. Take his class for sure!
His slides are consistent and clear. However he was ill a couple of times during the year and did not have time to go through the notes he missed. So make sure to attend discussion class to recap what he missed. Other than that discussion class wasn't that useful. Just make sure to attend lecture because the textbook doesn't cover everything.
honestly speaking, he is overrated. This isnt a class that you will receive a grade based on test score, it's a class based on how SMART you are compared to OTHER STUDENTS. SO, if you get a B+ for all test grades but most students in the class got a B+ too, you will end up getting a B-.
Professor is clear and concise but uses recourses poorly. Doesn't follow the book and uses an unhelpful online homework program. The information seems irrelevant, I've taken econ for 4 years in high school and this course is horrible.
He is a very good professor. We don't need book for this class because his lecture is so clear. His powerpoint is the best.
Watson really knows the material and is willing to answer questions. Online homework problem sets are 25%, midterms are 25% but one out of two is dropped and the final is 50%. In my experience, the final has been much more difficult than midterms. Hard to get an A - missing 3-4 questions already puts you at a B level grade.
DONT TAKE .GRADES ON A SCALE AND IS NOT VERY HELPFUL OUTSIDE OF CLASS. HOMEWORKS ARE A WASTE OF TIME THAT DO NOT EVEN SHOW UP ON MIDTERM OR FINAL
Lectures are really clear and puts up power points online after class. Super helpful during office hours. Problem sets due every week was tedious but most of the material came right out of the book or lecture and helped a lot for the final. Curve only affects you if you don't do well. Easy class. Worth taking.
He is a serious teacher. A lot of help.
Micro was my favorite class because of Watson. His examples are fun and make the material memorable and easy to understand. Very cool guy, very interesting class.
Brilliant Professor. Very Clear.
BRILLIANT professor!! His lectures were always interesting and he introduces the concepts CRYSTAL clearly! Exams not bad and drops the lowest midterm! problem sets are a bit annoying along with curve, but both end up helping your grade if you stay on top of the work. textbook is nonexistent in Watson's class, he doesn't follow it at all! Awesome!
Watson makes going to lecture bearable! Such a funny guy too. The problem sets and the tests are on similar levels of difficulty so there are no surprises there!
I love Professor Watson! I thought I wouldn't enjoy econ at all, but he explained everything really clearly and made it interesting to learn about. He's a very reasonable, straight-forward professor. I'm even taking EC102 with him next semester. Also, DON'T BUY THE BOOK! Don't waste your money! Just wait for the first day of class, he'll explain.
Easy class; tests are not hard--Need to attend to do well. His lectures are long and he skips through slides too quickly. Can't ever get notes down. He never replies to emails. Always cancels class. Records the lectures he cancels on a website that always crashes. Not a good professor at all.
OMG SO MUCH MATERIAL TO COVER IN EC101 CLASS
You must attend lectures. He only follows the book by 40% so don't even bother buying a hard-copy. On the first day of class he shows you how to buy the online version which is a lot cheaper. Discussion sections are not mandatory... I didn't go to any except to get my midterms back.
Great professor. Very difficult to get an A though. Don't buy the textbook, use myMathLab. The p-sets are based on the textbook, so do them with someone who has the book.
Really good professor! Watson managed to keep a pretty dry subject interesting in a huge lecture. Textbook not mandatory and discussion sections not mandatory (I didn't use either and it was still very easy). Easy material, not a lot of work. Take him!
Probably the best professor I've had. The OG of BU Economics.
At first when Watson cancels class you're like sweet I get to sleep in or I get to just chill for an hour or so but after the 5th or 6th I'm sure you'll be through. Especially when the material becomes surprisingly hard. Take the homework very seriously! They're basically exams because they're weighted the same. Don't take this class.
Don't take him. It's a hard class and he doesn't make it any easier. His lectures are boring and he rushes through everything. Assumes everyone understands everything. Doesn't really curve the class either. Will be the professor to lower your GPA entirely!!!
Everything about this class is awesome. Watson will make you love economics. He really knows how to teach it. Don't buy the book it will not help you at all. Do previous exams (30 MCQ). Study from his slides and I swear it's an easy A. Also he posts review modules on echo covering EVERYTHING in case you've missed a couple of lectures!
Watson is a great professor. He's very comfortable with the material and lecture was overall very enjoyable. The midterms were easy, but the final was difficult. I had an A in the course, but dropped to a B+ after the final. Take the problem sets seriously, because they count for 30% of the grade. Don't bother with the textbook, it's not useful.
I way preferred Watson over Idson for econ. Although I found his tests to be harder, Watson's lectures are so much more interesting and well explained. Go to lectures and try to do well on the problem sets and you will be fine.
Friendly, intelligent, encouraging man. Never hesitate to ask him or participate during lecture. His lectures can be slow at times, but in general are interesting and clear. His greatest strength is his logistics. He always posts the Powerpoints, is clear about assignments, and has online lectures so that we never fall behind.
It was a bit hard to understand him because the lecture class was so big. He talks slowly which is kind of annoying but his lectures are pretty easy to understand. The problem sets assigned biweekly are MANDATORY and worth a big part of the overall grade. The midterms weren't impossible but you definitely need to study and do the practice exams!!
Amazing professor and great class. Definitely learned a lot and the exams weren't bad at all. Just make sure to take detailed notes and complete all the problem sets to the best of your ability. Seriously, if you do all of this, you should have no problem getting an A.
Watson is a GREAT lecturer, but his exam questions and answer choices are VERY ambiguous and unclear (many ppl in my discussion agree). The midterm was 30MC kiss your A/A- goodbye if you get 4-5 wrong. Online powerpoints are useless if you don't attend lecture: they have no notes on them. Actual exam harder than lecture material. Not recommend.
Prof. Watson is great. His lectures are very clear and understandable. Attendance is definitely mandatory if you want to get good grades, even though his lectures slides are posted online, a lot of the important information is not written on the slides directly but spoken by him during lecture. Easy to do well if you put in the work!
If you put in the work you will get a grade. He makes you work for the grade. If you do the work, you'll be fine.
Bruce is the best. Did not expect to love a 101 lecture this much, but he manages to make a dry topic interesting. Not much work, but be sure you understand the lectures to score well on the problem sets - they count for a lot of your final grade since the only other grades are midterm and final. And don't buy the textbook - he'll explain in class.
DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK: did not use interesting lectures and not a lot of outside class work he cuts lectures short sometimes so an originally 50 min lecture would be anywhere from 30 min to 45 min. attendance is not mandatory but majority of his lecture is all he has for course material. not easy A but still relatively laid back course
Definitely my favorite professor last semester. He is really good at explaining concepts and he does mind at all going over the same thing multiple times. Don't worry about asking "stupid questions" because he appreciates them and won't belittle you for asking. Tests are relatively easy. I enjoyed every single class
Watson is a great professor. His class was really not too difficult if you go over the lectures before the tests and he lays out his super fair grading criteria on day one. He's also a great guy and is always willing to help. He sometimes makes some pretty funny jokes in class and does his best to make the boring more fun.
He is a really good teacher, I'm planning to take EC 391 with him. His presentations are really clear but read the textbook anyways. There will be a lot of class cancelled, so if attendance is not your thing you should choose him.
Very good professor. He drops the lower of your two midterms so you can tell he wants you to do the best you can. Very clear when explaining concepts and exams are not too difficult if you study. Very witty and funny too. Most admirable professor I have had so far in BU. Highly recommend his class.
The lectures were incredibly boring, and he always started late and ended early. Discussion section wasn't mandatory which was nice, but the only grades were problem sets (each week worth 35% of your grade), one midterm (there were two, but he drops the lowest grade), and the final. All are hard, and I studied for the exams very hard & only got Bs.
Really easy class, but I don't feel like I learned a lot because of it. He cancelled class a lot and I usually felt like it was a waste of time going to class anyway because it was less boring to go over his slides at home. He might be more interesting in a higher level class, but it didn't seem like he put in much effort for this one.
good prof. just go to lecture and listen you'll get more than B
I absolutely loved Professor Watson. Thought he was fantastic in every way. Highly, highly recommended
Watson is an exceptional professor, especially considering that he lectures to classes of over 100 students. His examples and analogies are great at explaining concepts. He always posts helpful online reviews before exams. The homework questions are sometimes ambiguous, but overall this class is an easy A if you show up and pay attention in class.
Watson cares about students. He clearly tells you what you have to do to get an A, and without making the class hard he is still incredibly effective at simply explaining complex concepts. Perfect for intro courses. He's pretty funny and you can skip some and still be fine. Weekly problem sets and 2 midterms + the final are all very manageable.
Great professor! Outlines things very well. He is very knowledgeable about his subject and knows what he is talking about. He does give a lot of homework, but it's helpful.
This class is really hard. The final exam was really stressful and thank god there's a curve honestly. He's a good professor but the course material is heavy.
No one can deny that Prof. Watson is a good stats lecturer. That being said, his exams are harshly graded for a 100 level course. Prof isn't always helpful at office hours--probably because they're usually overflowing with concerned students. There is no curve or extra credit. Take MA115--they get to use a huge "cheat sheet" on the exams.
Just awesome!!!
I enjoyed Professor Watson's class the most because he cares about his students and makes sure they understand the material. He is lecture heavy but posts the powerpoints on Blackboard. There are weekly My Econ Labs. The textbook is not mandatory but a useful tool.
Ez A as long as you are kinda smart and spent 2-3 hours a week on the HW and some more when the tests come. I can't imagine you put in the work and not get an A. 2 sets of standards for grading and you would get the higher grade. 40-50% of class are getting Bs. Work and get A. Freshman Grade savior. Worth his weight in gold!
Great teacher Knows a lot about his field of study Mature and responsible (it seems) Open to help other students when needed
Very good at explaining concepts. Lectures are interesting and well explained with good examples. Since attendance in discussion wasn't required I didn't go at all, although it probably might have helped. The class isn't too hard, I came in knowing some basic economics so I found it pretty easy. You'll do well if you make a decent effort.
Wonderful professor. Drops your two lowest homework grades AND drops your lowest mid-term. Then he calculates your final grade through a curve and just standard, and gives you the whichever one is higher. He says on the first day that there is no need for the textbook, which was great. Great guy, even though the class was a little tough for me.
Watson final was hard and I don't like that if you do poorly on that it can completely ruin your grade - grade deflation here.
Watson is a great lecturer and his class is very straightforward. Go to lectures, study a little, and you'll be okay. His grading criteria makes it so it's quite easy to get an A, and discussion sections are optional attendance. Take his class.
Professor Watson is amazing! He's genuinely the nicest guy and really cares about his students learning the material and enjoying it. He always makes an effort to make sure what he's saying is crystal clear. By far my favorite professor at BU! I would take any class he teaches
Weekly problem sets with 25 problems, so the workload isn't bad. Tests are few and not too hard. His lectures are soooo boring, but he posts all the powerpoints online so attendance is redundant. Very accesable in office hours.
Watson's class is pretty simple. There are weekly problem sets that range from 15-30 questions. You will want to get close to a 100 cause its a grade booster. The midterm was easy and the final is fair, but hard, Lectures aren't required he posts all the slides on blackboard. But be sure to teach yourself the material. Solid choice
Gotta love Bruce. Drops the lowest midterm, gives you problem sets that count as much as the midterm and then a final. Final was pretty tough and I'm waiting on a the curve. Go Bruce Go.
Best teaccher
Bruce is a really great guy but his lectures can definitely be boring. I've fallen asleep at several of them and the concepts can be hard to follow when he explains in the lecture. But you can reach him outside of class at office hours easily. He makes it easy for you to pass. Do the homeworks! He drops 2 lowest homeworks and the lowest MIDTERM.
Great professor! Tries to help all of his students succeed. Drops lowest midterm and two lowest homeworks. Homeworks are a tad difficult, but are harder than tests and prepare you well to take midterm/final. Went above and beyond making final review material that was super helpful. Some material was a bit tough, but he definitely made it easier.
Easy class but I was pretty disappointed overall. Class was a joke (which was nice), but I didnt really learn anything useful. Take if you want an easier class to boost your GPA.
Bruce's lectures get kind of boring at times. He does not take attendance but really encourages students to attend discussions. There will be a myeconlab test every week on Wednesdays. His grading is extremely lenient. He will drop one of the two midterm grades. He will also drop two of nine quiz grades. He has 2 grading systems - absolute/relative
Watson is really lenient in grading so its hard to fail this course. If you do the problem sets each week and go through his slides that he posts online you are set. Lectures can drone on and get super boring but he takes his time in explaining things. Major critique would be that office hours suck and he isn't helpful but otherwise easy course
The class is pretty easy. The slides are pretty helpful and his "Echo" videos are good for studying for exams. He drops the lower midterm and drops two of the lower problem sets so that makes things so much easier. If you want to do well, just read the slides and do/review the problem sets.
Its a boring class but if you have to take it, take it with Watson.
His class is super easy - you just need to watch the review videos he posts online, memorize formulae, and take the practice tests and you'll probably get an A. Discussion optional and most people don't show up to lecture.
I knew going into this class that I wouldn't love econ but Watson still made it somewhat interesting and manageable. Problem sets are easy, only one midterm counts. Lecture attendance isn't mandatory but he verbatim answers problem set and test questions in lecture. If you do everything you should and stay on top of it, it's not hard to get an A.
Lectures are somewhat monotonous and slightly dull, but he is very knowledgeable and passionate about the topic
If you're dumb like me and didn't take the AP Macro exam despite being good at it, then this class will be a breeeeeze. He drops the lowest midterm and the class is curved, so it was so easy to get an A in the class.
He's the best econ teacher out of the BU econ department. He's quite a dull lecturer, but generously drops the lowest midterm so that's nice.
Want a midterm dropped? Want 2 problem sets (out of 9) dropped? He is an incredibly fair professor/grader and it is too bad the material is difficult for some individuals (me) to comprehend. I am glad I took it with him and am even thinking about Econ double major. Bonus points: talked bad about Harvard even though he went there; likes coke>pepsi
Easiest class I've ever taken. Don't go to discussion, don't buy the book, and don't waste your time reviewing the psets before submitting them. All you need to do is show up to lecture, take notes, and complete the psets. HE DROPS THE LOWEST MIDTERM AND THE FIRST ONE IS WAY EASIER THAN SECOND ONE SO MAKE SURE YOU DO WELL ON THE FIRST ONE.
The best 100 level economics professor at BU. He drops the lowest midterm, and problem sets count and they're a grade booster. No need to buy the textbook, just watch his review videos and review the slides and problem sets.
Prof Watson is probably one of the nicest professors you'll ever have at BU. He's super understanding and caring of his students, and his lectures are easy to understand. The course material itself is not difficult but he makes the learning process much more enjoyable.
What a god, he drops the lowest midterm and one-third of your grade is homework which also has the lowest grades dropped. He teaches in a style much like, economics for dummies. He makes everything SO simple and easy to understand.
The discussion section is not required, tests are easy, and he is a super nice guy. Additionally, he drops one midterm and 4 problem sets. If you took AP Econ don't even worry you will most likely get an A. Even if you didn't take AP in hs, Watson makes everything super simple to understand.
He's honestly a real homie as his grading criteria gives you plenty of room to succeed within the A and B range. Lowest midterm dropped AND third of problem sets wiped? Lectures might be dry because of the topic but he does his best to make it enjoyable with humor and personal stories.
He explains concepts really well. Review class and practice exams are really helpful. He drops the lowest midterm grade and 3 lowest hw grade. If you need to take EC102, you should take with him.
Best economics professor at BU. The kindest, most accommodating and understanding person. Makes econ interesting and entertaining
One of my favorite professors ever. Unlike most professors, he is a really good lecturer. Easy to understand and goes at a nice pace. 2 midterms and a final. 30% hw, 30% midterm, 40% final. Really easily to get 100 in hw and he drops the lower midterm. Offers practice exams that are very similar to the exams. A great professor and you learn a lot.
Lectures are super straightforward and easy to follow, and an A is certainly achievable. He is overall a great professor and person!
This man is a great teacher. He makes everything so simple and straight forward and you really do learn so much. To the freshmen, this guy is a MUST TAKE.
Just watch your lectures (covid, so theyre recorded) and youll be fine. Macro wasnt hard to grasp for me, and I think its because Watson is just a great professor. Look no further than his class, trust me, youll regret NOT taking him.
Good professor but his grading criteria places heavy emphasis on tests. He cares about his students and makes review videos and practice tests.
As one who has absolutely no previous experience or interest in econ, I found Watson's lecture to be very engaging. Grading criteria are clear and adhere to the syllabus. He also made revision videos for midterms and the final which are comprehensive and extremely useful.
The curve was too tough in my opinion.
Great course. Just read the book and complete all problems set then you will get a high grade. Exams are not hard.
as long as you attend lectures and really really understand all the concepts, you should do really well! study problem sets and make you understand how to do the problems in the practice exams!
HWs and the midterms are not difficult, but the final is pretty hard. You need to use another way to think the problems. This semester is online, and the midterm1 was so easy and many students googled, using chegg and quizlet, so the curve is not fair at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is very much overrated. There is tremendous emphasis on tests and the class size is huge. There is almost no discussion or engagement with either the class or other students. The final is very difficult. And he does prefer some students over others unfortunately. Not a great experience overall. The class structure needs to charge significantly
I loved him. He's so nice and funny. Just watch lectures on 2x or write notes on the slides that he posts for every lecture. Study hard for the first midterm so you can chill later. Great guy! Take his class if you want to have a good time.
One of the best professors I've had at BU so far. He explains concepts very clearly and the tests are very fair.
He drops your lowest midterm and midterm 1 is v easy so I didn't take the 2nd one. I'd rec to use the practice exams bc the actual exam is similar to it. Final is p hard but similar in difficulty to the practice final. Lectures are recorded and prof is amazing at explaining concepts. Problem sets help a lot in understanding the material. Great prof
Watson explained concepts simply and the class was pretty straightforward. It relies on exams, but he drops lowest midterm. It's not too much work, but the later part of the course can get a little confusing. It was proctored on zoom, so do what you want with that info
amazing professor, explains things very clearly, and very helpful in his oh. heavy on exams so make sure to do practice tests and you'll be fine. would def recommend watson!
He is literally the best! 30% of the grade from the person lab homework,30% midterm(lowest midterm is dropped!). His lectures are slow and clear. He answers all the questions. A is definitely attainable as long as you study. The final is a little hard but midterms are very easy! If you want a good GPA would recommend his class!
If you show up and actually pay attention, the tests are very similar to the lecture material and you should be prepared. I felt like the class was interesting because he references lots of real world data when talking about economics, he is super good with questions and making sure you understand everything, and he lectures at a good speed.
boring but an ok class.
Lecture and discussion are pretty much useless & boring. Lots of homework and its hard to get good grades on them. Lowest exam getting dropped is the only good thing. I learned more by watching Jacob Clifford on YouTube lol
A below average Econ class. Lectures and discussions are pretty boring.
Watson is an excellent lecturer and is very thorough with explaining every concept. You basically don't have to do anything outside of class except the problem sets but you can find the answers on quizlet if you are stuck. It was a very low stress class but learned a lot. 2 midterms with lowest dropped and a final. Discussions not mandatory.
love love LOVE prof Watson. Such a sweet and funny guy and he really wants you to succeed. Lowest midterm is dropped and 10 total pearson psets aren't too bad
Loved Professor Watson. His class is difficult but his lectures are amazing. Explains everything clearly and in great detail.
Watson is a great professor. Your grade is based off of one midterm (out of 2, lowest gets dropped), my lab homework sets, and the final. The exams aren't hard if you do the practice ones as they're very similar and pay attention in lecture. Attendance isn't mandatory but I recommend going because it can be easy to fall behind.
Professor Watson is a very nice professor. He will tell you how to take notes in his class and understand all the contents. However, his lecture might be a little boring and his tone of speaking is not that passionate. Plus, his course arrangement and slides may be somehow less coherent and irrelevant to the main focusing points.
Did not follow BU policy of posting grades within 72 hours of the final exam. Also hard to get an A because a 30 question midterm and 60 question final both full of trick questions make up 70% of your grade with a curve that allows few A's - all signs of a weeder course. But he seems like a nice and good guy.
I love Watson! As long as u focus on his kinda boring lecture, u will do fine w exams. Btw mylab HW is a great source for practice and similar to exams at some point. If u can, pls attend his office hour (he is really caring to students)
I have never seen a course more disorganized and horribly managed as this one. The exams use scantrons and the problem sets are online which makes grading extremely fast and easy. However, it has been 8 days since the final exam and we still do not have our final grades. This is absolutely unacceptable.
I don't know if it is the TAs or Watson being ridiculously lazy but we still do not have our final grades more than a week after the final exam.
Very generous policy surrounding a dropped midterm and homework, but if you run into any extreme circumstances that may require assistance beyond that, do not expect any sympathy or help from him.
Grade deflation class
hardest hub class at boston university
I loved having professor Watson. From the beginning he made it super clear about the structure of the class and how everything would be graded and when I messaged him about my accommodations he was super kind and understanding. He held review sessions in class before exams. He's a professor that genuinely wants you to succeed.
Prof Watson is a nice guy. However, this class is grade deflation, especially after the final. His mid-term exams were ok and straight forward from what you learnt until the final. The final was designed to pull your overall grade down by a lot.
Prof Watson is such a clear professor! I'm not a math minded person but he explains concepts so well I feel like I am. Very generous grading (he drops the lower of the 2 midterms) and accessible through office hours. His TAs were super helpful as well. Highly recommend!
Yes, the rumors are true that this class is grade deflation
Prof Watson is a blessing to EC102. His grading criteria is super clear. All tests are mcq's and based exactly on lecture slides. His homework questions are graded but again, if you go over lecture slides they're super easy answer. Attendance is not mandatory but I would recommending going to lectures if you want to cut down 50% of work at home.
He is a very nice professor. Definitely better than average at BU. Classes are basically his slides but he elaborates on a lot of things such as giving us examples in real world which was pretty interesting. As long as you study for the exams, you will do well in this class. I am not a big fan of the hw on myeconlab tho since I tend to forget them.
He is such a great professor and gives fantastic lectures. It is the easiest class I have ever taken! Also, he'll curve the grade, drop two of the lowest-grade problem set, and drop one of the lowest midterm-score. He is very accessible outside of class...There were a few times he replied to my e-mail at midnight (4 am lol... ) definitely an easy A
Had like a 92 in the class and he still didn't give me an A. Grade deflation.
Was not prepared for how much the final was going to bring down my grade. Work hard on the psets, they're all MCQs (quizlet is helpful chegg gives wrong answers sometimes). take both midterms seriously even tho one gets dropped. Prof lectures well but talks semi-slowly, with good definitions and examples worth listening too and writing down.
Lectures are boring, but he does like to bring real-world situations into class (which I like), and the homework are really easy.
Lectures are very boring but he knows what he's talking about and does a very good job explaining everything. Homework helps prepare you for the midterms very well. Go to discussion! The TA's are very helpful and give you homework answers.
He is a very boring professor, but as long as you take notes during his lectures you will be fine. The home works are 30% of the grade so make sure you do all of those. He also drops a midterm grade, so make sure you nail the first one, and then you can skip the second.
Good for an intro class
Great professor, allows you to drop a midterm. But that final......
discussions are optional but go to them if you don't go to lectures. the homework is helpful for exams but you only have one chance to get the question right so take your time with it. he curved the overall grade by a few points maybe. max out on one of the first two midterms (he takes the higher of the two) because the final is hard.
Overall a good class but boring lectures. The homework is very good for practice for the midterms and before the midterms he would go over major problems. Try to do well on the two midterms (he drops the lowest one) because that final was hard.
Easy midterms and PSETS, hard final, overall very fair professor
Watson explains concepts in a very straightforward way, and whatever is on the slides will be what is on the test. Graded off midterm, psets, and final. Discussion is optional, but I'd recommend going. Quizlets and reviewing homework will be your lifesaver. Drops the lowest midterm and 2 psets.
Professor Watson is an excellent lecturer. As long as you attend his lectures, pay attention, and take good notes, you'll do great. Can't say the same for the discussions though--I found my discussion section to be pretty unhelpful considering that the exams are 100% based on Watson's lecture content.
Very knowledgeable and gave good explanations and real-world examples of concepts in lecture (definitely helps to go!). Just speaks monotonously which can get boring, but not if you're interested in the material. Exam questions are mostly straightforward if you really understand the concepts. There's a lot of intuition so you'll need to study hard.
Although his lectures are a bit dry, he's a super chill guy. You're graded on weekly homework (which doesn't take long), two midterms (one of which is dropped), and the final. He has two grading scales, an absolute one and a percentile-based one. Your final grade is whichever scale you score highest on, so it's pretty easy to do well.
Nice guy, good enough prof. Weekly assignments and three tests. As far as ECON profs go, Watson is probably one of the better ones.
Extremely clear in lectures, and gives a lot of examples (real life, too). Psets are reasonable and helpful. Exams are fair, as long as you study for them. He is clearly knowledgeable and knows how to relay information well. Nice guy! Super accessible after class for questions! Feel like I learned a ton, ended up being my fav class this semester!
I recommend taking Watson for EC102. His lectures were always clear and concise, and I knew what to study. The Tfs were so helpful in answering all of my questions. You get to drop one of your midterms which is super helpful, but be careful on the final because it was not easy.
if u need to take ec102, TAKE IT WITH WATSON! he explain clearly and thoroughly without belaboring. he's sweet, funny, and wise and kinda feels like that one cool old uncle. he's approachable and fun to speak with, and the practice sets and midterms aren't too bad. he also drops one of ur two midterm grades and two of the practice sets.
If you have to take EC102, I recommend Prof. Watson. His lectures are entertaining (which is no easy feat for a 250+ person lecture), and he brings in several examples to help explain things in great detail. Midterms are very representative of the material and the Problem Sets help you study (a lot!). It would help if he allowed for participation.
He coo.. Only so much "engaging learning" you can do when you're teaching 4 sections of 250 kids a day, and he does the best with what he is handed.
Professor Watson's slideshows are organized and make the content easy to digest. He does a good job explaining how the content builds on each other and provides good examples. I never went to my discussion sections, but they're available if you need them to help better understand the content.
Such a GOAT if you arent taking him for econ what are u doing with your life
Good professor. Didn't go to any discussion sections. Attendance not mandatory
Watson is very good in terms of grades. He is not the hardest grader which is very encouraging. His lectures are optional and so are discussions. He does however go through slides rapidly and sometimes it is very confusing to grasp topics when he doesn't give students time to process information.
No doubt the best lecturer in the entire Economics Department at Boston University. Even after having taken AP Macroeconomics in high school, I retook this course to refresh my understanding and it was the first time I actually enjoyed learning about economics due to him making connections between concepts and real-life examples. Love him!
Such a good professor. Lectures can be quick and sometimes concepts can be confusing but he really wants his students to grow. On the final I accidentally bubbled for the wrong test packet, and he was quick to regrade me. An angel.
Loved this course, lectures straight to the point and easy to understand. Weekly problem sets EXACTLY like exams. Text book has tons of resources for studying and he posts all his slides. Lectures also very beneficial he is easy to understand and gives good examples. Very generous grader as well, will drop lowest of two midterms. Exams not too bad
Watson was a great professor and really knew his stuff. Did not engage at all in the lectures and you really did not even need to go. That being said, worth it for the test review and all of that. Overall a pretty solid class.
My GOAT. Super clear lectures and trash-talk of Argentina's never-ending economic downfall
Watson's lectures are straightforward and the exams align well with the coursework. Unstuckstudy AI was a huge help for exam prep. Overall, a solid class with a generous grader.
If you put in any effort in the class you should be able to get an A, unfortunately I didn't so I only got an A- Great professor
Watson is a great prof. for the intro econ classes. He really explains topics well and posts the slides so you can review them afterward. The final is 40% of your grade though so STUDY.
Amazing professor, one of the best I ever had.
This class is easy to follow and what is taught in class is what is presented in the exams
Show up to lecture, do the practice midterms, and you'll pass. Nothing deceiving about this class or what grade you will get if you put in the work.
Very clear grading criteria. Very clear at explaining things and if you study and do the problem sets you will do well on exams. Very interesting topics, great class.
He is a lovely man.
Taking ec102 for the hubs and Professor Watson is genuinely such a good teacher. I don't like economics and he helps me understand it.
Bruce can be kind of boring during lectures but he never failed to make everything clear. Also, tests are very easy. Would take again!
Good at lecturing, which is his job. Can be boring as he does not move or interact with the class in any way. You will need to force yourself to pay attention, but when you do you may learn a thing or two. I think I looked up from my phone 3 times this semester and every time I did everyone was looking at their phones. Take that as you will.
Very very good lecturer. Albeit the material isn't that hard to begin with, but Bruce always makes sure to elaborate on everything and explain things as clearly as possible. Literally pay any sort of attention in the class and you'll get the easiest A of your life. MT / Finals are all MCQ and are pretty straightforward.
Go to lectures, pay attention, easy A. His powerpoints are also pretty clear and easy to go through. I also enjoy listening him lecture, I didn't find him boring and he explains really well.
Prof Watson is one of the best professors I will ever have. In another world I could see him as a sports commentator. One of the clearest and most passionate professors I have ever seen. A pleasure to listen to him explain econ. The concepts were difficult, but the B- was on me. Go to discussion and study the lectures and you can do fine.
This was the most boring class I have ever taken. He speaks monotonously, and doesn't move which added with the dim lighting in the room makes for a sleep-induced lecture. Material was fine, homework was all online and very reasonable. Pretty meh overall
Didn't like how the finals was 40% of the grade, with only 60 MCQ, and midterms being 30% of grade, with only 30 MCQ. His lectures are very boring, and with the lighting, becomes a great place to take your afternoon nap. The material is fair, but do not cram a day before the midterm/finals (I did that and bombed the MT/Finals)
He knows what he's talking about but his lectures are SO boring. I did all of the homework and studied a lot and unfortunately did not end up with the grade I wanted even though I went to every lecture and payed attention as much as I could without falling asleep.
Lectures were super clear and he explained things well. Gave us practice midterms which were helpful for studying. The final was much harder than expected, though. Give yourself time to prepare for tests and you'll do well. Overall a really likeable professor.
His lectures are extremely boring and put me to sleep. Thank god they're not attendence mandatory. I never went to lecture and taught myself the concepts with the slides and chatgpt (easier in the beginning, the slides get really bad towards the end). One plus point is that his curve is really good
Lectures are boring, but he explains concepts clearly. Midterms(2) and final are all MCQ, and he drops your lowest midterm grade. I didn't study a lot for the midterms but still did fine. It's easy to get an A if you study more (not just the day before the test) and pay attention during lectures.
Professor Watson is very funny and knowledgeable about economics. His lectures are not as dry as some of the ec101 lectures. He curves the final grades of the class, which is pretty chill. It's best to actually go to lecture because it's hard to understand his slides without being at the lecture. He also holds review lectures before the exams.
Professor Watson is super funny and explains lecture concepts pretty well in relation to the slides. He sometimes goes on funny tangents about his experiences, but somehow they all tie back to what we learn in lecture, so he ends up being very engaging. The class is very easy as long as you do the readings and properly review the problem sets
Dr. Watson is an amazing lecturer. Most don't show up to class, but I would recommend it because he doesn't add context to the slides, so it is hard to understand what they mean. Exams are multiple choice, and the content is mainly from slides, but there is some application. Discussion is optional, and slides are posted afterward.
I'm not sure what these other ratings are talking about saying he's "hilarious". All he did was sit there and read off of slides for EVERY single lecture. That's it. He posts the slides online too. All he really adds in lecture is small improv things related to the slide. Very boring.
The class is easy enough. The slides are kind of hard to read if you don't have them explained to you and not everything said in class is on the slides, so attending class is helpful. Even without attending, it's easy enough to put things together. Office hours are on zoom. Also the final is worth a ridiculous 40%.
Watson was nice about grades, dropped the lowest of two midterms, the two lowest of eight problem sets, and also curved your final grade if it gave you a better one. The lectures themselves were fine; slides were good, but they were kind of boring. Overall the class was decent I would just recommend not slacking off because the course gets harder.
Great professor. Explain everything with every detail and great example. Lectures are 'boring'. But i have took the same lecture back in my Chinese university, I have to say the course is far clearer, more interesting and real-life connected. Answer every email. I like him. Though it's hard to get an A.
