Great Professor and Teacher Gives weekly quizzes, 1 short paper and 1 long paper Best part is that Prof. reads and edits you paper if you email it to him. Like he will actually edit it. Lectures can sometimes be boring and long... but its a GE. If you want to take a class to learn something, take this class. Def. not an easy A but not a hard class.

Zuckerman is awesome. He shuffles around the classroom and its borderline adorable. As for his lectures, his monotoned voice can make it hard to pay attention. Besides that, prepare for mundane weekly quizzes on the Biblical reading. You can pass the class without doing the other readings though.

Although hes super nice, gives extra credit, edits your papers, and very clear on requirements its the worst. His lectures are long and droning- you never know whats important or whats tangent. My most time consuming class because of impossible-to-do-well-on weekly quizzes that many students fail the course on account of. Just dont take it.

Zuckerman is such a sweet guy. He's one of those professors that's really on your side. Cool class bc all dif types of students come to learn about the Bible and what it says. He's very smart and funny, and will help you with anything you don't understand. Give yourself enough time to do the weekly readings. Take it! You'll learn a lot.

Quizzes every Monday on the Bible readings are tough but if you do the reading you should be able to do fine on them. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the midterm and final so those exams are simple. And if you go to class he basically tells you exactly what he's looking for on the short answer and essay questions. Lots of work for a GE

His extraordinary insight and sincere passion for the subject is contagious and will continue to provoke and inspire personal contemplation of the deeper issues long after the final exam is over.

Zuckerman gives all chances for students to succeed in his class by clearly laying out what might be on tests. He aims to get students ready and prepared for exams and presents his material in an interesting way.

He is such a sweet man. His quiet voice sometimes makes it hard to pay attention, but he is enthusiastic about the subject. He generously offers to help you with papers before turning them in and gives great insight to what will be on the exams. Tough class with a lot of reading but Professor Zuckerman is great!

He is an awesome professor who is quite funny as well. If you do not prep for the quizzes you will fail however the quizzes are pretty easy if you read. Midterms and Finals are also easy if you do the necessary preparations.

He is constantly available by phone or face to face which you should DEFINITELY take advantage from because he grades pretty hard on papers (not tests. if you study, tests aren't hard). He was an extremely enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate professor who beyond simply being extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter of his class, also had extremely engaging lectures that captured the imaginations and critical thinking skills of all of his students. While the class is extremely difficult, he gives you the tools to succeed.

Professor Zuckerman is super charismatic and very passionate and knowledgable on the subject matter. The reading list is great and it'll be very difficult to find another professor as knowledgable on the hebrew bible. Get ready to read, but otherwise a great class.

You should take a class with Professor Zuckerman. If you want to do well in this course, he will help you work for it. There is reading due once a week with a 10 question quiz, not hard if you read. I personally loved his class. From the very first lecture I was awestruck by how knowledgable and passionate he was about the subject. (He makes *you* passionate about the subject, too)! That being said, he assigns *a lot* of reading, due on Mondays, and he assigns 10 question homework quizzes. 1 midterm, 1 final, 2 essays. He wants you to succeed!

It was an interesting class and I can tell that Dr. Zuckerman is an incredibly insightful person, but the class seemed a bit repetitive at times. Also, even though I learned a lot more about the Bible, it felt like we missed out on some important parts of it, like the Exodus from Egypt

Professor Zuckerman cares about his students and rewards them for honest, sincere effort. His lectures can be a bit monotonous as he just reads prewritten notes on a specific topic, but he is very knowledgeable about the topics he talks about.

His class was difficult though because of two long papers and a difficult midterm and final. If you can listen and take good notes in lectures though, you'll be fine.

If you are interested in the Bible or Western literature (or both) you will love this class. Prof. Z is an incredible prof all around - intelligent, funny, inspirational. There is weekly readings and quizzes each week, but they aren't difficult. He will challenge you to think about the world in different ways. Best class I've ever had.

Very knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. Straightforward quizzes, but readings are very long (e.g. 300+ page novel in one week). Extra credit available to help raise quiz grade, but most of your grade will be two papers and two exams. Take good notes, study with your classmates, and finish papers as early as possible for feedback.

Professor Zuckerman is willing to help you get an A. He clearly outlines all expectations. There is a lot of reading and weekly quizzes but for the most part they're really easy. Professor Zuckerman is really knowledgeable and will always answer your questions in class. He repeats a lot of what he says which is tedious at first but when the test comes around it is very helpful. There are weekly quizzes so you have to do the readings and it is important to listen to the discussions because they help a lot when writing the 2 essays, the midterm, and the final.

Bruce is a sweetheart but his lectures are painfully long and dry. He goes on random tangents, but he only writes down key terms on the board so you can tune out until he writes something down. There are weekly quizzes, but he allows you to make them up in office hours if you miss it. Easy GE if you put in some work.

He is very accessible to talk to for help on papers and to solidify course understanding. Every Monday is a reading quiz based off 2-4 hours of reading worth 15% of the grade, which is annoying but the quizzes questions aren't that bad, and there is extra credit. There's also a midterm+final, a 5 page paper, and a 10 page paper. Easy B, harder A.

He obviously really cares about his students. He's very knowledgeable about the subject matter. I personally feel that his lectures are really interesting in content although they are pretty slow paced. Nonetheless, class is quite entertaining. You do have to work for your grade but I enjoyed the topic so the research and outside work was fun.

If you don't bother going to lecture you won't get the real point of the class and the amazing insights Professor Zuckerman has to tell you about the material. Being in lecture helped me understand the topics on the final and midterm and helped form the basis for both my papers. But don't worry if you miss a lecture every now and then.

I took this class as a GE. Professor Zuckerman is extremely knowledgable in the subject and helps students when in need. He and his TA have office hours both twice a week. Weekly quizes ensure you do the reading and go to class, even though the quizes are fairly simple. The rest of the grading is based on two papers and two exams. Great class.

A very approachable professor who truly cares about his students. Very knowledgeable in the field of religion. The class demands a lot, but the weekly readings are pretty interesting. The only thing I did not like about the class is the papers, as I felt that I did not learn anything from it, but just assignments for grading.

Professor Zuckerman is a funny and knowledgeable lecturer, but his voice is not very good at keeping you awake. The readings every week is definitely something that was a hassle, but it was doable. He was definitely a very helpful professor when it came to revising my essay, WHICH IS RECOMMEND.

He is also very generous with his time and is willing to read your paper beforehand and will extend paper deadlines if he hasn't completed editing your draft with enough time to revise it. Prof. Zuckerman was an amazing teacher. There is a weekly quiz on a heavy amount of reading, but - the class was worth it. It's a smaller class so he can really individualize the learning experience (helps edit your paper draft before you submit!!) and clearly articulates what's on tests and what to expect.

The most interesting class I took this semester, but a decent amount of work. He says that the weekly quizzes are designed to make sure you did the reading, but at the same time, it's very difficult to receive full credit. Tests and essays are harshly graded, but predictable.

Awesome professor! One of my first classes at the school and a good one to start out with for sure. Reading quizzes weekly. Teacher supplies almost all the reading material, so no need to buy any expensive textbooks. He is really understanding. He gives extra credit, week-long extensions on papers if needed, extremely flexible with students.

There are no surprises in his class. Every week there is a 10 Q short-answer quiz based on specific readings that you can find in the syllabus. There are two papers, one due right before the midterm (5pages) and one due right before the final (10-15pages). He will read drafts of both and give specific feedback so USE IT! Saved a ton on textbooks.

Knowledgable, passionate, reasonable, funny teacher. Weekly quizzes not that difficult, but do the reading (when I was busy I got away with skimming or looking up story summaries). He fully edits the two papers assigned if you send it early, and is lenient about the deadline. Midterm/ final are same format, understand the study guide & you're good.

He reads drafts of papers and will give you extensions. He really wants you to do well and hopes everyone gets an A. I really liked this class!

This course was overall and enjoyable experience with a focus on improving writing. Mainly essay based, but Professor Zuckerman will always edit your paper beforehand. No need to be well-versed in the Bible to succeed. Prepare to write and analyze the Bible extensively.

Professor Zuckerman is abundantly knowledgable about the subject and always provides great feedback on papers. He may seem tough at first, but he will definitely help you achieve the grade you work for.

He's a dry speaker so it can be difficult at times to get through his lectures. However, he provides a lot of viewpoints on the Bible which makes it easier to write the essays. Doesn't mandate participation but will call you out if you're not paying attention. Will always read drafts and push back due dates so that there is time to review essays.

Professor Zuckerman wants to give you an A, but he's not going to hand you a grade unless you earn it! That being said, he offers extra credit and allows you to turn your paper in early for corrections (which I would highly recommend, it increased my grade by an entire letter!) By far one of the most intelligent and respected faculty within the Religious department. Very understanding and compassionate, does not hesitate to proofread students papers and wants all his students to get the highest notes they can.

He wants his students to do well and provides several opportunities like extra credit and other safety nets for students, in order for us to get the best grade in his class. His lectures are very dense, so it can be difficult to stay focused sometimes, but he is easily accessible out of class. Do readings!

Unlike most professors at USC that might be frustratingly unavailable, Zuckerman is always willing to look at a draft, give feedback, or offer his opinion. This level of openness makes his class much more approachable, as I had no exposure to the Bible prior to his class.

He is one of the most understanding professors I have had as he is always willing to give feedback on paper drafts and answer any questions prior to exams. Professor Zuckerman is very knowledgeable about what he teaches. He can talk for hours about the old testament if he wanted to. If you take his GESM class, your grade is solely based on your essays, so be ready to write about the Bible... all the time.

Prof. Zuckerman is the a true teacher. He will go the extra mile to make sure his student's succeed. If they fails, he sees it as a failure of his own. He will prepare you for essays and tests, so don't stress too much. This class specifically is an excavation for the truth, so if you take it, take it seriously.

I took Zuckerman for my GE b GESM. More than tests, his class is completely based on 6 total papers you write, ranging from 3 to 12 pages. Although this is a lot of work, he is very willing to help out of class and gives excellent feedback. Use his help and work hard and you should be able to get near the grade you want.

Professor Zuckerman is an excellent paper editor. The GESM class revolves around 6 papers that you write. There are no test and finals. The class is aimed towards helping you become a better writer. Professor Zuckerman is always willing to help the student edit papers (he provides great feedback) and will work with you to improve your writing.

Honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. Gives GREAT feedback on papers and really teaches you to be a better writer. Submit papers to him early, and really participate in class. Has a lot of knowledge and is truly just a wonderful professor. However, really really proofread your essays since he is a tough editor!

Prof Zuck is a really nice guy and very understanding. His lectures for rel111 take place during a food coma time of day but they are interesting and I felt like I actually learned something. He is interested in the subject matter, which makes the class feel like story time (in a good way). Easy A, I would say. Not too challenging.

Professor Zuckerman is so wonderful! He is driven to see us all succeed in his class, so he opens up lots of extra credit opportunities, is flexible with grading, forgiving with quiz scores, and provides good review for the midterm and final. The lectures are a little heavy, but the class is definitely worth it. Take him!

Professor Zuckerman is one of those teachers who cares more about his students than about the subject. He continually tries to be engaging and stimulating but the material is not easy and he is not an easy grader. Very doable to get an A because he will read all your essays before you submit and give you his edits on every sentence. High recommend.

Prof Zuckerman is easily one of my favorite professors. He loves teaching and loves his students. The work isn't easy, but it isn't hard either. As long as you do what he tells you, you will succeed in the class. I would take any of his other classes too. Go to section, you learn a lot of cool things there too.

Taking this class was a solid choice. The lectures are boring and often irrelevant (meaning attendance isn't mandatory), but Zuckerman wants you to do well so he prepares you well for all assessments. Zuckerman is an extremely bright guy that knows an insane amount about everything to do with the Bible and the history surrounding it. He strives to help his students succeed, all you have to do is put in a decent amount of work to get a good grade. Lectures have some really interesting details but not mandatory, just do the assigned Bible reading.

Professor Zuckerman's class was definitely one of the best religion classes I have taken here. His lectures are really clear and informative, and Paul's discussion section really helped me throughout the semester. The quizzes were on the bible assignments and helped keep up with the course readings. Midterm and Final reviews are really helpful!

Zuckerman is a good choice for a G.E. He does give a quiz on reading every week, but just sparknotes the Bible reading and you'll be fine. He assigns essays with very vague, if any, prompt, so if that is something you can't do, avoid him. The best part of this class is that skipping won't affect you. He also tells you exactly whats on the tests.

Professor Zuckerman is a very kind and knowledgeable professor! His lectures are interesting and he always encourages students to ask questions, which he's more than happy to answer. He makes his expectations very clear and gives students all the information and help they might need in order to achieve an A in the class. Definitely recommend him!

Prof. Zuckerman is very funny and helpful with papers. His lectures can sometimes go off on tangents, but he is witty and friendly to everyone. He wants to give you an A, so you just need to do the readings to pass the weekly reading quizzes.

Professor Zuckerman is what you make of him. He is extremely knowledgeable and well respected in his field. Given that, you can make the most of this (b/c he has a desire to help students like none other), or you can not put in the effort and do poorly. BTW- first quiz is hard, got 100+ on a lot after. Weekly readings seem heavy, but honestly take like 2 hours tops. Quizzes are easy. Papers are easy if you don't procrastinate. Hilarious and interesting lecture, but he should use a microphone. TONS of extra credit, and he really cares about his students.

Zuckerman is super kind- he is really funny- I think unintentionally. Sometimes lecture can be dry, but just skim the readings and listen to what he has to say and you will do well- he is super helpful with paper feedback

Dr. Zuckerman is one of the most caring professors at USC. He provides ample extra credit opportunities so that students can earn the grades they want, and he is always available to answer students' questions. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the historical context of the Hebrew Bible with him this semester.

Professor Zuckerman is very funny and he makes an incredibly dry subject somewhat interesting. The readings are long. By the end, I was reading the Shmoop version because it was just too time-consuming. I recommend sitting towards the front because he is hard to understand at times.

Zuckermans class is worth your time if interested in learning about the Old Testament and reading it in depth. Your grade will be okay if you listen to his instructions. His quizzes every Monday and tangential lectures get repetitive, but I would recommend taking it to those interested in studying the text and taking a more stimulating GE-B course

Professor Zuckerman is very interesting to listen to. He tells a lot of good stories during class. However, his tests are really difficult if you don't read. There are quizzes every week and those can be challenging because they ask really specific questions from the reading. You really have to stay on top of the readings to be successful.

Prof. Zuckerman is extremely passionate about Bible studies, so if you are too then you're in good shape to enjoy his class. If you're signed up for his class just for credit, you may not be taking the right class and should change out of it because there is a lot of reading to do every week. A lot.

Professor Zuckerman is amazing. He is so knowledgable on the material and is really interesting to learn from. He also really cares about his students' success and is available outside of class. He will even give you feedback on rough drafts of papers. While this class was a bit more work (reading and writing) than my other GE B, it was worth it.

Professor Zuckerman is truly fantastic. For an older gentleman, he's particularly funny and witty, which makes the occasionally otherwise dull lecture interesting and keeps me coming to lecture. I would take his class again in a heartbeat just to hear him talk about how punny the Old Testament is.

REL111 was overall a very informative class. The pop quizzes are weekly and mostly deal in trivial biblical information such as genealogy. At the end of the class, you will have a solid grasp of overarching biblical themes and a deeper understanding of biblical texts.

REL 111 is a class that you will struggle in if you do not do the reading. Professor Zuckerman wants to see all his students succeed, but also wants to make sure you are putting the appropriate effort in for his class. I recommend this course, but moreover, I recommend prof. Zuckerman! Take him!

There are weekly quizzes on the first day of the week that require a ton of reading, but Bruce is a really nice and funny professor who does a good job lecturing and will also review your essays. You do need to get at least a 60% average on the quizzes to pass, but there are only 2 papers (one 5 page, one 10 page), a midterm, and a final.

Prof. Zuckerman gives weekly quizzes so be prepared to do the bible readings. For the essays, he is willing to read your drafts and gives helpful feedback. There are extra credits if you attend and make a short review of some events.

I really recommend Professor Zuckerman. You will be required to read quite a bit due to the weekly quizzes, but they are not hard as long as you actually read the chapters assigned. He is a tough grader with the essays; however, you can turn your essay in early and he will give you feedback so you can get a higher grade when it is actually due.

Professor Zuckerman definitely makes learning about the Bible interesting. His tendency to digress makes for the most entertaining lectures. Though it seemed like a lotttt of reading, it does get more manageable once you know when to start. Quizzes were quite difficult at the beginning, but that also comes with learning to sift through material.

He sincerely cares that all his students pass the class and is always available whether it be office hours or even revising papers. It's all about how much work you put in. If you do the work, then he makes it so that you are more than set. If you don't do the work, there's no way around it!

The course has weekly quizzes on the reading, but don't sweat it if you miss one. The professor is very kind about this and lets you retake any missed ones at the end of the year. In exchange for this leniency though, the quizzes can be toughyou definitely have to read to get a good score. Otherwise the course isn't too bad and kind of fun!

There is a lot of reading involved in this class and you always have to be paying attention. The professor is great and always keeps the class fun and worth going to. If you are taking this class for credit, get ready for a LOT of reading and preparation for the quizzes/midterm/final.

Definitely a good professor. He's more than willing to help out his students with papers, and he's very clear with what he expects on the tests. That being said, you have to do the Bible reading, and it can be a lot to remember for the weekly quizzes. I think he grades fairly and gives great feedback, but does expect a lot in terms of writing.

Solid GE and you might actually like it

He made my first fall semester a great expereince. He is very funny in his lectures and gives great feedback on your essays. There are only 2 essays for the semester. A short and Long essay. There is one midterm and one final. The exams are not as difficult as you'd think as long as you study hard. If you read the daily quizes, they are also easy.

Professor Zuckerman's class isn't easy and requires a lot of reading, but he does everything to help you and is straightforward with his expectations for tests, papers, and quizzes. Make sure you see him outside of class because he provides good feedback on assignments and is open to answering questions.

Zuckerman is a very caring professor. He wants his students to do good and really helps you when you need it. He is patient and will help you as much as possible. I took this class as a GE for credits so I didn't really know what to expect. I'm not going to lie it was difficult for me to read so much, but you can succeed if you ask for help.

Overall, my impression is that he's an amazing professor and truly cares about his students. His standards are high, but he does his best to bring you up to those standards if you're not already there. In addition, having Racheal(TA) as an extra resource helped improve my writing. My only concern was the amount of reading.

Professor Zuckerman is extremely knowledgeable in what he teaches and is more than willing to accommodate to his students' needs. He is really easy to approach and tries to keep the lecture entertaining although it may seem as if he's going off on a tangent sometimes. He's willing to read your whole paper and edit it and give you feedback as well.

Bruce really knows what he is talking about- if you are slightly interested in religion, take one of his courses. You will have to read a decent amount to prepare for weekly quizzes, but do that and you will be prepared for the midterm and 2 papers. Missing class is okay but might miss out on a couple test questions; he's extremely understanding.

He is overall a very nice guy and he really wants you to be a better writer. His lectures are about the course topic and he doesn't actually speak about how to be a better writer. At first he talks very slowly but you get used to it. He gives a lot of feedback on your papers.

He really cares about his students. He does have specific and strict rules about writing, but take great care and detail in feedback. He is available outside of class to discuss paper writing, which I wish I took more advantage of. There are readings, but they are very helpful when it comes to writing papers. Our TA Rachel was also very helpful.

If you listen to his lectures with attention, practically every class he'll blow your mind with some new facet of the material. Acts toward his students like a real human, regarding them as real humans too. You have to read and work hard, but he's more than willing to help you outside of class. Could not recommend him more highly.

It is rare to find a professor who is as passionate about their work as Professor Zuckerman is. He really cares about his students and their success, and he goes out of his way to be accessible to them. There is a good amount of essays you will write in this class, but he works with you to get you where you need to be.

The class itself is not an easy A, you really have to work for it. There are weekly readings, that vary in length, and quizzes, that ask very specific questions on the stories. There is also a 5 and 10 page paper along with 2 tests. Professor Zuckerman himself is an inspirational teacher who usually goes off on a tangent during his lectures.

You will have to put in more work than expected, but he lets you know everything that you will need to know to be successful in the course. There is a lot of reading so be wary of that. He is very smart, and clearly has a good grasp of the material.

Professor Zuckerman is very well-versed in the material we are reading in class. Class can feel a bit long since he usually just talks for the whole class. Prof Zuckerman is quite a brilliant writer, although he often goes off on tangents about a biblical topic of his choice. There are 2 readings a week and 5 papers (3 pages/5 pages). He teaches extremely valuable writing techniques and really enforces mastery of standard English conventions. He and his TA (Rachel) give valuable feedback.

For my GE for 'B', I landed up in Zuckerman's class. I am so glad this was the case because Zuckerman really takes the time to make sure everyone in his class is going to do well. He's very insightful and he really shows that he cares. Students can see their grade every week. Many extra credit opps offered. Highly suggest REL111 for GE. Lovely guy.

Zuckerman is a great professor for a GE! He gives a clear weekly lesson/assignment plan at the beginning of the semester so you can plan ahead for readings and papers. He's always willing to help with any assignments and will proofread any paper you send him ahead of time. He makes it really possible to get an A or at the very least a high B.

It's a very straightforward class (lecture, read, write), but there is so much structure and depth that makes it enjoyable. Professor Zuckerman is very passionate about his craft and offers to help his students even beyond his class. Sometimes it's frustrating to have your writing get torn apart, but it will better your writing skills in the end.

Objectively, his class is about writing good essays so one may think his long bible lectures are irrelevant. However, he demonstrates what hed like to read through what he says and how he says it. Zuckerman also creates guides for EVERYTHING and updates them according to what students still need to improve. He makes his expectations very explicit.

There is a quiz every week on Monday. The quizzes are based on chapters in the Bible. However, his unofficial teacher's assistant Rachel is evidently smart & hard-working but she is very coarse in communicating, seems to lack empathy, & talks down to students.

The goal of this course is to become a better writer. Thus, he is a tough grader but it is always constructive feedback. Everyone should do well in this class. Only the readings relevant to your essay topics are necessary. Lecture can supplement your paper content but attendance isn't necessary.

Professor Zuckerman is not only very knowledgable in the topic, but works hard to make sure that his students significantly improve their writing skills. The entirety of your grade is based on 5 papers, and he makes sure to be available every step of the way. Rachel, although helpful, sometimes gives redundant work.

The professor makes the class enjoyable and very interesting. Lecture heavy on his part. He does have an assistant that is a bit intense but helpful if you are really on top of your stuff. This seminar in humanistic inquiry course has a lot of intrinsic value: it taught ideas and concepts that I could apply to my life and I'm not even religious.

He is a pretty good teacher. His lectures can sometimes be slow and a bit dry but if you power through them, the content is pretty interesting. He sometimes provides insight into life and school and he shows that really cares about each of us. Weekly reading quizzes, Midterm, Final, Short paper, long paper. Professor Zuckerman is a really nice guy. He is definitely a stickler when it comes to writing, but he makes himself available to all students, and he definitely wants to help you succeed. Classes could be dull at times, and the secondary source readings often felt long and unnecessary, but as long as you do the Bible readings, you will be fine.

Every class is a lecture. A lot of outside reading. Professor is very knowledgeable on the topic. He gives a unique point of view founded in his research and experience. In doing so he still lays out the material objectively. Present complex abstract ideas in approachable ways for the student to comprehend and write about.

I took his GESM 120g class, and while your first paper might not be great, if you seek his help to edit your papers along the way, your writing will not only improve, but your grade will too. GESM 120 Professor Zuckerman cares about students and gives some of the most thorough essay feedback I've ever seen. Assigned readings were long and can be difficult to understand. Most of the readings were summarized in lecture though. Not a lot of class discussion or diff opinions, felt like we got 1 perspective and regurgitated it back in essays

This was one of the more interesting classes I took at USC. The professor is really passionate about the subject and is always available to help with your papers. One short paper, one long paper, and weekly quizzes on the readings but he makes them easy so if you read you will be fine. Overall not a huge workload but a fun class.

Great professor & great class. I took him for gesm120 (Hebrew scriptures). We had weekly readings, no tests, essays due about every two weeks. Professor is really understanding and nice, and he also gives great feedback on essays so you can ask him(or the TA) to take a look at it before submitting. His lectures are also interesting.

He's so knowledgable about his subject and provides very deep insights into the texts we read. He gives out extensions and edits essay drafts pretty freely. However, the class is as advertised, so if you are not interested/committed to reading the Hebrew Bible as well as outside resources, this is not the class for you. He does not try to trick students or make the subject unnecessarily hard as seen through his extremely helpful study guides! This class is either really boring or super interesting but Professor Zuckerman is a sweetheart. You only have to write 5 papers for the semester but Zuckerman is a pretty strict grader. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you turn in rough drafts for him to edit. He actually wants to edit them. He'll literally transform your paper and make you a better writer.

He is super paper-based but works to his power to make sure you do well. You will be able to get extensions on the paper as you need it as long as you show that you used the extra time effectively and correctly. Took REL 111 online this semester and it was such an amazing class. Prof. Zuckerman told the stories in the Old Testament in a great and entertaining way. The only assignments were a short paper, a term paper, a midterm, and a final. For the papers, Prof. Zuckerman was just completely knowledgeable and helpful. Always gives great feedback.

Prof Zuckerman is really intelligent, caring, and wants all of his students to succeed. REL 111 is an extremely interesting class although it requires a lot of reading on a weekly basis. He has helped me tremendously with writing and if you send him your essays, he will give you feedback before you hand it in! Prof. Zuckerman is awesome!!!

Professor Zuckerman is a great professor that is super knowledgeable on the subject. If you are genuinely interested in the topic he is your guy.

Professor Zuckerman's class was a lot of fun. Gives interesting lectures and will answer any and all questions to the best of his ability. Papers are due often, but he will give extensions if you need them and will always edit drafts very thoroughly before a final draft is due. Knows his stuff and tells good jokes. Would definitely recommend.

Professor Zuckerman once said he treats his lectures like Jazz. He leaves room for spontaneous stories. Be prepared for weekly reading, thought provoking lectures, and a really caring professor. His class is not easy, but he provides his students with essay help and review sessions. He is definitely the most knowledgable professor I have ever had.

Prof. Z inspires his students to see their potential as a student and intelligent young adult. He shows his care for his students by acknowledging the need for extensions and offering support (as he has done for me multiple times), and sends quick email replies and comments on paper drafts. Many grueling hours but I have learnt much from this man.

If you want to get a good grade you can. Great professor. If you wanna learn about the bible, this is a good class to take. you can get away with skipping the other readings pretty easily

This class isn't terribly difficult if you go to class and pay attention. It can be difficult sometimes to follow what he's saying, since he is prone to tangents and doesn't use any kind of visual component. The assignments are very straightforward, if you make sure to send him your essay drafts to edit, you'll get a good grade.

Loved BZ, really wants you to succeed. Lectures can feel long and boring (especially online) but it's pretty interesting analysis if you pay attention. 2 papers, 1 midterm, 1 final. Online exams are take home with no time limit. Reading is necessary for exams, but because of online format you can do any related reading day of without much issue

Prof. Zuckerman is a very caring and thoughtful person. His class was pretty straightforward and he makes it clear as to what he is expecting from you as far as grading. He was always accessible outside of class and encouraged questions. His feedback on assignments was great and I would definitely take him again if this was not my last semester.

Took this class as a GE and while it was not easy, it was definitely worth it. The class was online due to COVID-19, but Prof. Zuckerman still had interesting lectures each week and prepared students very well for the midterm and final. As long as you're prepared for a lot of reading, I would recommend this class!

Fantastic professor. I had him for my last GE and took it P/NP so I expected not to care or put in much effort. Professor Zuckerman's interesting lectures and good personality kept me interested and engaged the whole time. He pretty much tells you exactly what is going to be on exams, so if you read and show up you can easily get a good grade.

Professor Zuckerman is an inspirational and caring professor. There is a lot of reading but many of the books are classics and interesting to analyze how they connect to religion. He really wants you to do well so if you put effort by sending him drafts of your papers and attending lecture you can do well and learn a lot.

Professor Zuckerman wants his students to do well. He will look at the drafts of your paper and give you good feedback and makes his expectations very clear. Only downside is the classes all feel the same as he lectures for the whole class.

You will need to read a lot and think deeply. If you can do that, you will love this course and professor. The difficulty is less that the material is difficult to grasp or know (he gives comprehensive study guides and conducts thorough study sessions), but that there is a lot to read and keep up with. Very caring, and will make your papers shine.

I enjoyed REL 311 this semester, but it definitely wasn't like any of the other REL courses I've taken thus far. It's quite lecture-heavy and online it was sometimes hard to just sit and listen to him talk for an hour and twenty minutes. There wasn't much discussion, and some of the readings are hard, but Bruce is very helpful and very considerate.

He's a really understanding Professor who's willing to accommodate your needs. I'm not advising you to abuse it, but I really respect his patience and heart to teach the material. Lots of reading, but not too difficult to understand if you pay attention in class. Take notes!

Professor Zuckerman is a really good professor. Lectures can be a bit monotonous, but he gives fantastic feedback on rough drafts of your essay. Gives out two exams and two papers, but he prepares you well for them. Solid choice of a class!

Z is hilarious and theatrical in how he articulates possibilities and perspectives in the Old Testament. I had no religious experience and no prior knowledge is necessary for this class since it explores ideas. Z really helped my writing and is a good wake up call to college level writing with helpful criticism. He is very respected and admirable.

There is also a 5-page paper, 10-page paper, and midterm and final which are structured the same. Zuckerman is very transparent about what he wants from your work and he gives great feedback. As an international student, I am not good at writing. I have always had some problem with my writing style. Professor Zuckermans feedback on my writings are extremely useful. And, this class is not super religious, but more of a logical analysis of the text itself. I find myself comfortable in this class even though I am not religious.

Had Zuckerman my first semester of college and I could tell right away he was someone I was always going to remember. Just a truly wise soul. He does expect a lot. About 100 pages or more of dense readings per week but the lectures are very interesting and his story telling is exceptional. Heavy workload class for a GE but a very fair grader.

There's a quiz every Monday that is very detailed on the Bible reading, the workload is heavy even you have read the Bible before, still need to read into the details, remember the names. But Professor Zuckerman is trying to be helpful, and can make up quizzes. Put effort in and will be reflected in grades.

The amount of assigned reading is a lot, but the weekly quizzes are not that bad. Focus on remembering names and odd scenes. He is forgiving if you can describe the answer to a degree that it's clear you did the reading.

Prof. Z is a good teacher. His style is all lecture, it's interesting but the last 20 minutes is when he gets to his point. He gives good feedback on essay drafts. The issue of my class was that he assigns reading that is not talked about in class, not sure why we did it. ALSO: he gives extra credit for these reviews, which is why he has so many.
