I was disappointed because the final had no questions regarding his life :P. He's a really good teacher. Take him if you get the chance.
Bad teacher. Useless. Uninteresting. Doesn't give out any notes, you'll have to rely on what you write. Be careful to write your papers *exactly* the way he asked, otherwise you'll get an F.
really wants to help you improve. sometimes ask too much work, but in the end it pays off. let you hand in your assignments as many time as you need to get A-. It helps to learn a lot.
Very good teacher. You MUST attend class and take not of every thing he says. His assignments are easy but must be done the way HE wants.
He'll make a ton of jokes and tell you alllll about his life and personal interests. Then at the end of class, if there's still time, he'll give you a quick summary of the work he wants you to do. Sometimes he changes his mind about something and doesn't let you know, and he penalizes you. He's very stubborn and won't change your grade.
I don't know how he got hired. Teaching TECHNICAL WRITING requires that you know at least some basic ENGLISH, and that you plot and outline things. His English is so bad, do not use words over 2 syllables in your writing because he will not understand them. He says things in one lecture and says conflicting things in another, so good luck.
After more than seven years of experience in the IT industry, and having written numerous technical documents for large companies, I had to relearn from a teacher who has trouble pronouncing and spelling in English. Having to listen to his pathetic life as an engineer made me want to switch to business.
This man is utterly useless; a grade 'A' moron. He is perfectly happy being mediocre, so he refused to answer my question on how i could get over 90 on the final exam. Do not under any circumstances take this course with teacher!
i learned absolutely nothing in this class. but you have to show up to get the format that he wants for your papers. follow the formatting for the assignments that he provides and you'll ace the class but besides that, he's totally useless and the class is a snoozefest.
Mature and lots of integrity. Is clear if you ask and attend class, do not be fooled into thinking it's easy. Easy to get an A if you are concentrating on graduating. Will not suffer fools. Very relevent if you understand the topic, covers some things that are contemporary and students let it be known that they are lacking worldly perspectiveness.

He is a very good professor. Everyone knows the subject is boring but he has to do his job. He is trying to give easy marks and in the same time to conform university regulations. I know if he would he would give to anyone A+. I got good grades in his classes and he still lowered my mark in the final but thinking rationally he s one of the best :)
Just do what he wants and you'll get a good grade with him. His assignments and project are sometimes confusing but if you follow the form and style as he wants, you'll get a good grade even if your English is not wow! Overall good teacher!!!

The only time I've ever felt compelled to actually write a review for one of my professors. He is that bad. He teaches nothing. There are maybe 5 actual minutes per class where he is telling you something useful. The rest he's talking about his life. If I were in my first year at Concordia as opposed to my 3rd I would transfer from the university.
very good teaching. he makes sure that all the class is participating. sometimes he tries his best to be funny however is due to stupid students that are just rude and think they are smart. if u gate a chance to take him, do not hezitate ... go for it and u will learn alot specialy with his life experiences. good luck
He's not a bad guy, he's actually kind of funny. The problem is that he is not very clear in teaching. Although his course is very easy to pass, provided you follow what he wants, it is highly unlikely that you get an A+ from him. So if you want an easy class take him, but if you want an A+ then don't.
Avoid if you care about your gpa. Honestly, spent too much time on this course hoping to get a decent grade, just for a B+? Not worth the extra work...
Avoid this professor. Teaching is unstructured, unclear. Grading is arbitrary; not constructive. Textbook is useless, even contradictory to information given in class.
This professor talks about unrelated subjects in class. His marking does not reflect anyone's work. Obviously very unintelligent, which is frustrating. He talks about his many failures in life and believes engineers never succeed. Avoid this mediocre part-time failure of a teacher if you want a good mark.

Bad Professor, hard to even call him that at times. Found him extremely unprofessional and a serious waste of time. The marks seem arbitrary, and entire class material can be summed up in under an hour. I got an A, but Very random prof, shares more of his personal anecdotes than relevant facts.

Wow I expected much better comments here - I enjoyed Grenier's classes even though I do agree the instructions weren't always clear and the slides were vague to useless. He made class interesting and gave lots of practical advice even though it wasn't in the sylabus. As a person, he's def. one of the best in Concordia
I used to hide sentences like, "You're not reading this, are you?", in the middle of my writing assignments, he never commented, so I'm sure he doesn't even read them - he can barely speak English so it didn't surprise me. One tutorial consisted of drawing a website on a piece of notebook paper. Joke of a class.
He does talk a lot about his life during the lectures as many have stated. His slides are pretty skimpy. It's difficult to get any useful information regarding technical writing out of the lecture. This class is here to basically make sure you can write in English. Don't expect an A+ at the end of the term (<1% people get A+)
Only reason to attend class is for free marks. Easy to pass, but he docks most marks for minor errors in format. Terrible slides, no Moodle page, vague project guidelines, poorly written test questions. Just a terrible professor. I have no idea how he was hired for this job. He also makes occasional offensive remarks, which is not appreciated.

I learned a lot in this class. I learned that he lives really far from the city in a small town. I also learned that he used to live in Quebec and that he used to work in Regina. Learn something about the course you ask? No. Nothing. Nada. He doesn't teach the course. He just tells us random stuff about his life. This should be an online class.
I could not muster the courage to stay through an entire "lecture" due to non-stop ranting about his miserable life and general off-topic nonsense. He has no knowledge of basic technology, he sends slides through copy-paste in mail, wtf. If you manage to take a class with this guy and not get depressed, you are a better person than I.
He teaches you about everything: his life, his opinions, anything that's not the course material. Sometimes, he tells you about the format he wants for assignments, and you start to hope you'll learn something useful!... and then he goes back to talking about how meteorologists are useless or some other topic. Thankfully, the TA was helpful.
With this professor , you will learn much more than just a course . You will learn things for your entire life , career everything . He s the most helpful ,funny , nice , kind , best professor ever . I enjoyed every lecture , from day 1 . You won't feel stress , pain or anything . He s very tolerant and you feel that he wants u to succeed .

Mr Grenier is really a good person , he 's funny , always cheerful and very friendly and nice. Taking the course with him , you don't need the book , going to class and taking notes is more than enough to get a good grade for the course Very recommended

By far the best prof at Concordia !
Bruno's an average professor - sometimes clear, sometimes unclear, a bit old fashioned, but he'll ultimately prepare you with what you need to know. Just listen to what he wants and expects from your assignmentspapers, and you will do fine. If you email him with questions or see him in person, he will be happy to clarify things. He's a nice guy.
He is an interesting professor. Attend classes, have an opinion, and follow his proper essay format and you will surely get an A. He brings to light some really powerful ideas, about life, education, and Engineering that some may find offensive, only if you are a sheltered pupil. Recommend to anyone to take his class.

We only received one assignment mark a month before finals so people weren't sure how they were doing in the class. Only one person got A+. He takes almost the whole class time (talks about his life) and then makes us write something after each class for attendance. Not so bad teacher, he actually cares about you doing well. :)
This guy is an absolute joke. He teachs Technical writtting with minimum technical background abd if you try to write an paper on new technology, he simply ignores the contents and give out bad grades. Avoid at all cost. X

Had him in the summer. He spent a lot of time talking about stuff not related to the class, but the class has barely any content anyway, to be honest. If you show up to all the lectures, you'll probably get an A- at worst. I'd recommend.
What makes you vibrate? Show up to class and do what he asks and you get A-, minimum. No reason to not take him.
In one of the quizzes, he asked to answer 5 basically opinion based questions. He wrote something nonsensical about my first answer (as in truly nothing to do with the question), nothing on the rest of the test, and then gave me an F. In class he rants about whatever comes to his mind, never about anything substantial, and then grade your attendanc
I am very disappointed with concordia university this course is one of the most important courses for your academic studies yet they hire a guy with no technical background on how to write properly an academic paper what to say try to register to another section if you want to really learn the way that he marks is totally unfair.
I've had him for both ENCS 282, and ENGR 392 over the summer. Get on a first name basis with him and put a bit of effort in your work and it's an easy A. Attendance matters. Super nice and approachable.

Bruno does not fail anyone for this class so basically show up and you will pass although he does not give out A's that easily. The class is extremely boring and a waste of time and money but that is not the teachers fault. He basically talks about his life during every lecture which is sometimes funny. You need to attend to get attendance marks.
Everyone saying Bruno isn't a good prof either did bad in the class or can't follow simple instructions. Attend every lecture, see him in his office and it's a guaranteed A. Don't need the book, don't need notes, just see him.

Cons: he gives only 1 A+ in the class. Mandatory is important and you MUST follow his instruction of reports for your assignment. He is really strict about it. He digresses often during lecture and mainly it's about his life. Nonetheless, if you attend his class (and tutorial), you will get at least B. If you look for A+, you definitely avoid him.

He does not grade you on the quality or persuasiveness of your writing. Instead, what you need to do is endure his out of date life lessons because every once in a while he will include something that is relevant to his marking scheme. It was an easy A. Mostly graded on format. Just follow the templates he provides you with, go to all the classes and do all the assignments. He talks a lot about his personal life, and the 3 hour lecture got unbearably boring at times. Also, he only gives one A+ per section.
Just follow grading rubrics. Other than that, he talks about his life and sends his slides via email as text and not the file.
No feedback at all, boring lectures, talks about his farm all the time and his personal life, thinks that all engineers and computer science students are robots with no feelings, won't accept criticism/ other points of view. If you have the chance to avoid his class don't think twice!
I like how Mr Bruno mixes the course topics with examples and stories from life experiences. He is one of the best Concordia instructors and one of the nicest persons that you could meet in your life. Attend the lectures , follow the instructions , and enjoy his talk. Would definetly take another class taught by him.

He is one of the nicest prof, I don't know why a lot of people don't like him but it is easy to get a good grade with him (just follow his format). There is not much stuff to learn in this class that's why he talks a lot about his life to make the class more interesting.
Worst professor you cold take for ENCS 282. He curves down the grades, and removes attendance marks even if you never missed a single lecture or tutorial.
He basically talks about personal life experiences which I don't really mind tbh. Other than that u have around 25% for participation in class and in tutorial based on easy stuff u learn in class. Sometimes he explains very easy things in a complicated way. Also there was not even a single A+ in my section.
although you dont learn much in class and everything shown though the year could be done in two classes. you have 1*1000 word paper +1*2000 word paper and and oral you are giving alot of time to do write it and is clear . tutorial gives you marks so just show up . During class he talks about he personal experiences and can sometimes be interesting.
This prof wasted so much time in every lecture. He gets distracted easily and doesn't cover much material in class. Every class you have to write an in-class assignment so if you skip class, you will lose participation marks. He is super unclear with his instructions and you don't know your grade until the end. HE IS SO BORING.
Get ready to spend an hour listening to a man brag about his past accomplishments, his dog, his day, his meals... Basically anything but what you need to learn. Unfortunately, participation matters so skipping is not an option. Not rude, but a harsh grader. Good luck.
Flexes on you by telling you about his life. I found it pretty entertaining and a good relax/homework class. Bruno lost several submissions for an in-class assignment and told the students whose assignments he lost: 'I would've remembered your name/paper if it was actually submitted.' Note that this assignment is used as a foundation for another.
Bruno is a really simple professor. All you need to do to get a good grade with him is attend the lectures (for the participation assignments) and follow his format for essays. If you do everything he tells you to do, you won't have any trouble. He goes on tangents during lectures but that's what makes it fun. 0% stress for this course, so dw lol
He thinks he is the only prof students had for one semester. So much work to do. Tbh no one cares about his farm nor his past job experiences. He does not use moodle. Way too much perseverance about the format instead of what you actually wrote in the report.
He seems like a nice prof. Not sure about his qualifications. felt unprepared for the tut1 as we haven't really learned anything in 5 hrs of lecture. He's a good person, but literally in 5 hours all I remember he taught us was "Change your tone according to your target audience". In-tut assignment was done freestyle. I had no idea what they wanted
For the first week of class he addressed that there are reviews online and stuff but in class he teaches the "real world". So we have an oral presentation planned and we must wear classic business, like 90s, not modern, to present the project, as that's how the "real world" works. BUT tbh he has valuable lessons and stuff. Easy marks, REALLY easy.
This individual is extremely under-qualified to be a teacher. He spends 95% of the time going on incredibly USELESS tangents (this is no exaggeration). His personal life stories are boring at best and does not warrant your tuition money. He DOES NOT care about his students, your success, nor your grade. His teaching method has 0 educational value.
Although if you go to his class and do all the papers, you will easily pass , I must say this teacher is the most arrogant teacher I know. Listen, the guy wont really teach you technical writing stuff. Everyone makes this mistake, they think hes gonna be teaching yall. This man will teach you stuff you wont get anywhere else. Life lessons. you learn the real stuff in the tutorial so dont complain. Take this prof if you want an easy grade.

hes a nice guy and answers emails quickly which i like. But his teaching style is awful in my opinion. its very unstructured, and only about 20% of the lecture is actually relevant; the rest consists of unnecessary rabbit holes and long-winded analogies. Its also easier to solve a rubiks cube than to figure out the exact requirements for the work.

His assignments are crazy abstract. He doesnt fail anyone but his grading is subjective and if you argue your grade he'll say '' GPA doesn't define you , not everyone in life is gonna like you'' which is completely absurd. Avoid him unless you only care about passing.
One of the worst professors this university has to offer. A very harsh grader, and has no structure to his lectures. He verbally gives assignments (lots of them) and you will never understand what he wants from them because he does not know himself. You will have to work tremendously hard and not care about your other courses if you want an A.
Bruno is a gem. As long as you follow his structure you will get a good grade. He also constantly tells us he wont fail us as long as we submit, the lowest grade hell give is a C-. Follow his powerpoints and youll do well.
Brunos lectures are sometimes all over the place... and assignments need some clarification at times but even if you submit it and it isnt exactly what he wanted, hell let you resubmit it. He also wont fail you on any of your assignments as long as you submit them.
Follow his structure. Thats it. Thats all you need to do well.

If you're looking to just simply pass the course then Grenier is your man. He will pass you regardless of how badly you do. However, if you're looking to get a good grade, his grading criteria is all over the place. For example: If you sent two of the exact same assignment, I guarantee both won't have the same grade.
You will either love or hate Bruno. He goes on irrelevant tangents all the time but he means well and is a funny character. Your TA will teach you the material. The workload is fine, he passes everyone and is very lenient on deadlines. He gives you the text structures, no idea why everyone complains about that. An easy course during covid.

This prof gets hate for no reason. Just show up to class, follow his format, and do the work, and it's an easy A. He is an amazing professor and I would definitely recommend him to everyone! You need to show up to class in order to understand what he wants and this class is a heavily group based, so be prepared for that.
There is no clear grading criteria. And he contradicts the few written instructions during the live lecture. When I pointed this out to him his ridiculous response was "I'm preparing you for real life". He also said that he "needs a certain grade distribution, so a lot of people need to get Bs because the TA's always gives people As". Avoid!
the class material is super easy to understand, but understanding what he wants out of your assignments? impossible. only after several students probe for info throughout class does he start to paint a vague picture, but he will give no specifics. his lectures also include a lot of aimless rambling about his life.
You spend more time trying to figure out what he wants from the essays more than actually writing them as he is not very clear and concise about the structure and content. Also he doesnt elaborate on the feedback he gives you (personally for one of my essays he said that I didnt include certain things although I did). But, he passes everyone.
This professor really gets hate for no valid reason. ENCS282 is already an extremely boring and tedious course. There isn't anything difficult to learn, if there is any at all. I'm happy to sit through Bruno farm rambling, if not I would not even show up to class. Guidelines are very clear, do not deviate and do not try to be cheeky or smart. Easy.
Great teacher, underrated, a lot of negative comments because of his unclear instructions, which I agree in some cases. You need to attend tutorials and the TAs explain perfectly what Bruno is looking for. If you follow step by step his examples and the tutorials, you will do great! A lot of talking during lectures, but many life lessons from him.

ENCS282 is a pointless class so what do y'all expect Bruno to do? Teach you quantum physics or take your hand and bring you to Walmart to buy a professional suit for your interviews? Hes so flexible and will pass you even if you submit all work at the end of the semester and if you come to class he will know your name/face & interact/joke with you.
If you only care about passing and want to do the bare minimum, then he is the best teacher for this class. The only way you can fail is if you submit nothing. He's also chill with deadlines. He's very sweet and literally let's you chill in his class while you're drowning in other difficult courses. He understands what we go through and the class is real vacations. I recommend.

He gives us life lessons, talks about his farm and always makes sure that his students have nothing to worry about. Just hand in your assignments, follow his format, go to class and you're guaranteed an A- to an A+. Never fails anyone.
the other sections of engr392 with other profs have a bunch of lectures to do for every class and they are also tested on the material from these long scripts. With Bruno, you don't need to do any readings cause he makes up random 'pop-quiz' questions that have no right or wrong answer. ZERO studying required, zero stress, only good times w bruno!!
An amazing teaching approach, very inspirational. I enjoyed every lecture. Mr Bruno is a very knowledgeable person. He's also one of the nicest professors at Concordia. A typical Canadian man. You will enjoy the mixture between the course material and the general talk. Gives you essential life lessons and tips for your future career.
If you are a student who cares about their grades a lot, avoid him at all costs. Super unclear instructions, no comments on the grades you received and useless lectures. Although you can never fail his class but getting an A is very difficult.
Professor Grenier is a very nice genuine guy, but his way of thinking is very old school (submit yourself to your boss, stay at one company, don't aim to make 6 figures, cause you will work too much, etc.). However, I find the course very useless, and I did not learn a single thing from it despite attending every lecture and almost every tutorial.
His instructions are never written anywhere so attend his lectures to get the info. Email him if you need clarifications for assignments. I would do other work in his class because I found his class boring but the work felt like side quests, annoying but easy to complete. Generally, his papers and midterm (was take-home) are easy to write.
Very active professor. Loves his job, and overall has a good personality. Unfortunately, his instructions are very unclear, and almost non-existent if you don't show up to every class. His grading is pretty lenient and he allows (but doesn't recommend) the use of ChatGPT, since the amount of writing work required in this course is abnormally high.
For a class where you're supposed to learn about writing instructions, there is a critical lack of instructions for all assignments.
Don't expect to learn something from him. I have no idea why Concordia still keeps him as lecturer. He is probably a nice person to get to know, but a horrible teacher in my opinion. Although I had pretty good grade with him, I think his grading has no consistency, lack of standard. Perhaps dependent on his feelings of the day.
Me Grenier is kind and enjoys his work. Unfortunately he is clearly no longer fit for teaching and does not grade his assignments/exams based on any numerical system. Unreliable and unfocused.
One of the worst teachers at the school. Does not teach, just talks about his life and useless things. Can barely speak English, yet grades English writing. As most of the class, I am confused on how he is fit for not only teaching this class, but any class in general.
Notice how the reviews are either great or awful almost at random? Because that's how he grades: completely at random. If you got a bad grade, you review bad because its impossible to understand what you did wrong. If you got a good grade, you review good because the class is almost zero effort for a high grade. May the odds be ever in your favor.
I had to drop out of his class because he's, quite frankly, a horrendous professor. He wanted us to physically mail our assignments to him, because he's far too archaic to figure out how Concordia's websites work. I have no idea why he's still a professor. All he does is rant about life and useless anecdotes. I would pay 400$ not to take his class.
Good Professor, I think he is retiring after Fall 2023 but I will definitely take him for ENGR 392 with him if he becomes part time professor for summer.
The professor seems a bit inconsistent, but Unstuckstudy helped me stay on track. Lectures can veer off-topic, but the free textbook is useful. Overall, a mixed bag - just gotta put in the work.
