very helpfull! takes atendence nice personalaty
He is very available for help, great teacher, Sry I cn't fit him in nxt semester
he's not bad of a teacher, i didnt like calcus in the first place but it'll beok
Smart man, good teacher but class is very boring
awesome calculus teacher, makes calculus as easy as its ever gonna get. will give any kind of help you need if you just ask, genuinely cares about his students and is extremely redundant so you always know what he's doing, free 100 test for attendance
No Comments
horrible at teaching calc 2, not enough examples
He really wants everyone to do well. You get 100 on a test for attendance and tells you which order the questions will be on the test.
I could teach this class without chalk
Hardest Calc class I plan on taking, tho best professor for it! He wants you to do well. Go to class every day (on time) and pay attention, you'll do well. Explains as clear as can be considering it's Calc 2. Tests are clear and doable.
very clear and helpful, has studied calculus all his life. I would take the class again just to be in his class.
Nice guy, tests arent too hard you just need to do your share of studying.. doesnt check the hw but you Should do it.. helps a lot
Teaches like u know nothing about math which is a good thing in this case. He makes sure u know the material.
Very very confusing, but is willing to help you if you have the time.
I've had precalc in H.S. and got an A, decided to take the easy route and take it again. This guy makes everything so confusing and more complicated than it really is. I can't stand his method of teaching, and now my grade is suffering because of him...
Very Good teacher if you are willing to work for your grade. He offers web quizes which allow you to use you notes and book to get them right. He wants his students to do well.
Alright I guess but tends to ramble on and is often hard to follow.
ok, but not verry clear, tells exactly whats on the test. tests are ok
Your gonna wanna PUNCH him in the face after the semester. Very one sided, and if its not his way prepare for a definate B, even if you know what you are doing.
very logical in the way he teaches. He wants you to see every step in the process, and it gets to the point to where you can predict where the math is going to go.
ONe of the best math profesors at this university, take him if you want to learn caclus...
so boring
He is a good calc professor if you have never had it before because he goes step by step. If you have had calc before it is rather boring because everything is so elementary. He wants everything his way and it feels like he repeats everything he says at least four times in one lecture.
Great Prof
Really easy. Great professor. Gotta get use to doing things his way, then a walk class.

Ridiculously hard course and the most boring teacher I have ever had. Can only have three absences.
Bruno may seem like a dick at first but hes a good guy just give him a chance. Pretty good professor, knows his stuff.
Assigned Seats. Strong attendance policy. Doesn't appreciate questions. However, my test scores were 48, 62, and 20-I felt terrible after the exam, but I somehow made a C in the class! He is extremely clear, but I was still lost most the time as you need good math knowledge to follow him. TAKE ALGEBRA before this class if you aren't good in math!
Teaching style is horrible. Drop him and find a different intructor.
Bruno W. is very dry and does NOT like to be asked repetitive questions. Seats are assigned, and attendance is mandatory. That said, he's very straight forward. He explains everything, often too much. Boring, but hey, it's calc.
Bruno is a very boring teacher and explains everything WAY too thourogh. No one will ever call him a good teacher, but no one will ever accuse him of not being thourogh. He is terrible drop the class for someone that will work more on doing actual problems rather then focusing on "underlying concepts" bad ju-ju

He teaches calc. very throughly. I understand most of what he says because he goes slow, and focuses on the underlying concepts of problems. He teaches you how to use elementary concepts and apply them effectively to hard problems. The classes are pretty boring, but like someone said before...it's calc...
he is very mundane, has assigned seats and a tough attendance policy. knows his stuff well but takes forever to cover it. basically, show up, study, pass. if you are a natural at math however, his requirement to show your steps will really piss you off and his teaching style sucks. i would recommend him only for mediocre math students.
This guy makes you sit in assigned seats and makes you put your Student ID card on his desk if you come in late. VERY STRICT, and makes you feel like an idiot EVERY time you ask a question. He knows what he is talking about but avoid him at all cost.
this class is an easy A. if you like a professor that explains everything definitly pick him. his test are also easy, he gives an outline of what each problem is going to look like on his test. also the only homework you really need to do is the webwork.
This guy makes you sit in assigned seats and makes you put your Student ID card on his desk if you come in late. VERY STRICT, and makes you feel like an idiot EVERY time you ask a question. He knows what he is talking about but avoid him at all cost.
Not hard. Explains concepts thoroughly. The class before each test he does a thorough review of what types of problems will be on the test. Doesn't use the book at all. He once mocked a student in front of the class for asking a dumb question, which was not cool. To be fair though, it really was a dumb question.
ATTENTION: Dont take him...Reasons are not needed. Just dont take him
Don't take him. EVERYTHING has to be his way. even though he tells you what's going to be on the test, it has to be exactly what he did in class, and if not he takes off a lot. Calculus is easy, but he makes it hard because of the way he teaches it (very boring, not a lot of class participation). The more he talks the more i got confused.
He's really helpful and fair. Yes, he has rules but they are ones such as no talking in class and no ipods, which is common sense anyway. He couldn't be more straightforward - he even tells you what will be on his tests and what he wants to see in your answers. He's by far the easiest and nicest calculus professor at UNCC.
He's sucks!!! Don't take him, never!! I am a math person, even though I can make an A in his class but I just can't stand him anymore. His lecture make math even more complicated. His tests even sucks!! You must do the exact form as he did or you lose half points. Seems that only his way doing math is right!****!!
Horrible class. Like other people have said - he requires that all problems be done the way he teaches you exactly or you will get that problem marked down. He makes the class needlessly hard.
He seems like he knows what he's doing, but he is soooooooo boring. He gives assigned seats and makes you come to class even if you don't need too. If you've never taken a calc class before he's probably ok to take but if you've had it before, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
attendence is required, test are easy but you have to do it his way. If you already had calc dont take his class. Lectures are very boring
This teacher is rediculous he is harsh on attendance, there is a seating chart, and if you are late for class you must go to the teacher and give him your Student ID
His teaching teqniques are hard to grasp at first but he is extremely intellegent on the subject. His ways of explaining are horrible considering he gives you formulas and no example problems to help understand the concepts. He test are very very very straightforward but must be done exactly as he says or you will fail. go to class & your're fin
His rules can be strict and a little over the top (assigned seats, for one), but he's a good teacher and knows what he's talking about. It's a fairly easy class if you show up on time and follow along with the lectures/work.
Very easy if you already know your stuff. If you dont have an idea of calculus and arent great at teaching yourself DO NOT take this class. The test are easy if you are good at teaching yourself though.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE PROFESSOR!!!
I hated his class, but he was nice. I had an A I don't know how! He's unclear, and I was in the tutoring center almost everyday! Sorry if you're stuck with him. Take John Taylor instead.
Class was not always easy, but he really wants you to understand and is willing to help you if you ask. One of the best teachers in the department. I appreciated his teaching more after the fact than I did when in his class because he made me think in order to get a good grade.
Very helpful teacher, makes understanding the subject very easy. His attendance policies are harsh but all in all a very effective teacher. Highly recommended!!!
Bruno is very knowledgeable and knows what he is talking about when it comes to math. His tests are really straight forward and not tricky at all. He even let you know what's going to be on the test. For engineering and math majors, this is an easy A.
Good professor. Not tough, but you gotta do your homework. Was an easy a. Tests were very straight forward and were not difficult.
If you have never taken calc before, don't take this class. His lectures don't give many examples of how to do the problems. But if you have taken the class you can survive, the tests are half mult choice then free hand. not to hard, drops three textbook and three webwork grades. Replaces lowest test grade with the final test.
If you want to make an easy 'A', He is definitely your choice. Honestly, I didn't learn Calc III very well, but ended up with an 'A'. He gives you the type of problems will be in the test so you know EXACTLY what to study. pretty straightforward tests.
good guy but he doesn't follow the book and doesnt teach every type of example. you'll find yourself struggling with the webwork because you wouldnt learn how to do a certain type of problem in class. he uses the same function for every example for every type of problem which doesnt help at all. hw is both webwork and txtbook so have fun with that
If you haven't taken calculus before, don't take this class. It only confused me more when he explained because he wants you to know underlying concepts. I thought I was going to get a D. my test grades were 68,72,53,36. but I did use the final exam study book b/c the final replaces lowest test grade. IDK how, but I ended up with a B lol
not a good teacher at all. He likes to assume you understand the material and he seems irritable when a question is asked. He also has rules like a high school principal, no talking, assigned seats...etc. not a recommended course unless you have the time to teach yourself.
I took this professor for Cal 1, and he teaches really good. I understand all the problems. He test is some what difficult, but he went over the format and problems that will be on the test. So if you review the material before the test, you should be fine.
This was my teach for Calc. I. He tells you the format and tells you exactly what types of problems will be on the test the class prior. He tries to "teach you to think instead of just get the answer." He is strict on attendance and tardiness but a handful including myself slept during class and he never said anything.
He explains the problems very well. He does tend to get a bit boring but math in general is boring, doesn't use book, and test are somewhat difficult. He does gives you the type of questions to study for prior the test. He is strict with texting and sleeping and will deduct points from final grade.
This guy spends the majority of the class telling us to do our book work and webwork more than teaching the class. He is very strict on attendance.
It was Calc 1. Was scared at first cause i am bad at math, but if you do the webwork half way, He tells you exactly how each problem will be on test, go to his office hours before the test(bring a friend and ask ?'s), you will get a A. i got a 81 and 86 so far so i think he is VERY EASY. Get the Student solution manual and use it to study/Webwork
The absolute worst teacher/professor/overrall instructor I've ever had. The only class I've ever failed. Upon walking out today during "student evaluations", a large portion of the class was still in there blasting him in the comments section on the back side of the bubble sheet. If you've never taken calc. before, stay away.
I thought i was gonna get an A with a 81, 86, 92, and 72 because everyone raves that the class is curved, but no luck. I got a B. he is just okay. not good if you never taken Calc or Pre-Calc. I had taken pre calc in hs.
Great Teacher. He is very smart but strict. If you want to understand the underlining concepts of calculus and truly learn than this is your teacher. If not then move on. Not a hard class if you do your part.
One of my least favorite teachers. I don't like his teaching style. His pace isn't bad but its all webwork which relates to book work(optional). He refused to explain the notes and would only do example problems (of book work) which was no help to me because I didn't understand it. He is strict with a smug attitude. Avoid him, otherwise good luck!
Terrible teacher. First day of class, he said "I don't have time to do real-world examples for every major, so I won't do any." Toward the end of the semester, never finished problems, just sets them up and says "you figure it out from here." Says he doesn't like trig, but half the webwork is trig. can't get the webwork due dates straight. avoid
Worthless. I got a B+ in the class and I think he is a terrible teacher. Can?t keep homework dates straight. Left us completely unprepared for all tests and final. He is so bad my tutor would teach me everything and then I would go to class and leave confused. Only good thing is he spoon feeds you what is on the tests. Avoid at all cost.
A terrible teacher. Would only work questions, wouldn?t explain anything about it. couldn?t keep webwork dates or problems right. His test are easy because he tells you what will be on them. Do not take if you are bad at math. If you can figure everything out on your own, he?s the teacher for you.
He should be fired! He refuses to help you. I do not understand why he decided to be a teacher since he could care less about the students.I had to be tutored every day. Stay away from him.
Unless you know how to learn from examples and a man who loves to laugh at his own corny jokes, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Engineering freshmen, I'm sorry, you're basically stuck with him or 2 others. Go for the others! He talks to us like we're 5 and barely understand addition.
I used to love math before taking him! His tests were very easy but HW were too long. attending is MANDATORY and you'll have assigned seat for you. Easy A but I lost my interest in math!!
Most boring class ever. He goes off on random tangents about principles and forgets about the lesson. Lots of homework but easy tests.
This class isn't too bad, but the professor isn't the greatest. He says that he tries to get us to understand the material better, but he makes it more difficult than it needs to be. I would definitely consider another professor over this one if you want to actually understand what you're doing in an easier way. AVOID HIM IF POSSIBLE!!!
This is one of the worst instructors I have had over my entire life. Before every section he goes off lecturing with very limited examples about where the formulas come from and other information you don't need. Then he doesn't have time to work more than a couple examples. You leave class feeling very confused. A tutor is a must with this teacher.
If you decide to take this class you are making a huge mistake. He is a horrible, horrible teacher and makes all of the material very difficult to understand. He does not believe in "short cuts" in math therefore he painfully teaches the class very slowly. If it is a good day, the teacher finishes two problems before the end of class.
I was this course online as a grade replacement. The course started out fine, but after the first test he made completing the hw really difficult. If you miss any hw assignments you cannot take the tests. I missed one test bc I didn't finish some assignments on time. Resulting in me being unable the final and dropping my grade from a B to a D.
He is the worst professor I have ever had! Not clear on topics, if you get confused, he says you should known that. Gives you a seating chart like your in 3rd grade, no electronics, treats you like your in elementary school.
If you think you can teach yourself calculus, and I'm not kidding, you have to TEACH YOURSELF... then you will be fine in this class. Hawkes is 100% useless for learning math on your own. I spent over 500 dollars for a tutor just to get through the semester. Really easy before the drop date, then it gets incredibly hard. Avoid at all costs.
I like him as a person, he is smart and enthusiastic, but so disorganized and confusing! I had to watch the other teacher's video lectures to have any clue what I was doing. I think he wants to teach underlying concepts and then doesn't teach you how to do the actual math. Avoid unless you can learn on your own. Attendance mandatory.
I pretty much taught myself this whole class. PLEASE AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS! I almost messed up mu life by taking his class don't do the same to yourself!
summer session, gives you an idea of what 5 question types to study for the test of 5 questions every week. useless to ask questions unless you want to fell dumb for asking. I don't recommend this instructor
I took Calculus as my math class because math was always my strongest subject, but this class is killing me. I didn't understand the first couple weeks of notes and now I'm completely far behind. He's willing to give you a better grade but you have to work for it. In addition, his note taking style is confusing and his handwriting is awful.
Enjoyed him as a professor. When he takes notes, his handwriting is not great but he knows what he is talking about. Test are all free response and he is lenient when he grades the tests! Does crack some good jokes in class, but he is a soft speaker, so I would recommend sitting toward the front.
It was my first time taking calc 1 and Im usually not the best, but not terrible at math. I has to work really hard in this class. I did not like the way he taught. it did not click with me. I had to ask for help with the webwork every time. And watch online videos to help learn the material. He made us sit in assigned seats.
Very old fashioned - seating chart, don't bring electronics to class, need your SID to leave class for bathroometc. Very annoying. Super dry - very repetitive lectures, very boring, and doesn't do many helpful examples in class. Prepare to teach yourself. I advise against staying in his classes.
Weekly homework, two tests, and a cumulative final. Homework wasn't really graded but that was the only way I learned the material. He uses the theorems in the text book but hardly ever shows any real examples because he's afraid of making simple mathematical errors. I learned nothing in his lectures but attendance was mandatory. GET A TUTOR.
Avoid this professor, especially if you're not good at teaching yourself. He does not lecture: he rambles somewhat coherently and scribbles on paper in the document camera. His handwriting is hard to read and by his own admission does not typically work example problems. You will need to teach yourself many things through Khan Academy or elsewhere.
This professor treats his class like children. He will regularly deduct points for silly things like having a cell phone out or having earphones around your neck. He might know what he's talking about as far as material but you wouldn't know because he seems to lack the skills to communicate basic knowledge. He has a knack for overcomplicating math
Took him for Calc 1 and failed because he wouldn't let me retake a test I had a doctor's note for because he "dropped the lowest test score". Not helpful whatsoever, offered zero extra creditways to improve your grade. Don't waste your time with him, take either Taylor instead.
DO NOT TAKE!!!! He can not teach at all. In fact he doesn't appropriately teach linear algebra as it should be taught. His exams are pointlessly difficult, he does not give examples, he grades harshly on exams, and he uses very outdated teaching techniques. Get a really good tutor if you have to take this guy.
No hesitation!
He's a good teacher, but he tends to ramble. Read over the notes he provides and the book and it's not bad at all. Parts of tests can be confusing which leads to errors, but he gives enough extra credit that it doesn't really hurt your grade in the end. If you put in the standard amount of effort, you can snag an A fairly easily.
There are much better profs in the department. Seriously try to take one of the Taylors, Hastings, or Eagle. They all teach circles around him and he steals notes from the Taylors anyways.
For all the WebWorks homework he has previously worked examples from the year before. Very helpful when doing the Webworks sections. He also tells you what 10 problems are going to be on the test. I think he tries to keep the tests basic. If you put in a few hours studying before the test you will succeed. Always answered questions too, helpful
Dr. Wichnoski has an old school teaching method (assigned seats, no cell phones/electronics allowed), but he really knows what he's talking about and explains all the concepts thoroughly. He'll crack jokes in class, won't call you out, as long as you're paying attention. He always tells you exactly whats gonna be on the exams.
Math is definitely not one of my strengths, but wichnoski explains it very well and I ended up getting an A in his class (and thats from someone who had to take precal twice). He also gives you a breakdown of what type of questions will be on his exam which is extremely helpful.
