Extremely dorky but enthusiastic about the subject and teaching. Very hard class and he doesn't do a great job of teaching the material but in general a nice guy.
definitely knows his stuff, very organized. wants you to do well. still a very very hard class. as interesting as he tries to make it, theres just no way to do that, very boring. sounds like kermit the frog. but take him over Russell.
Wonderful guy, cares about his students, organized, clear, dedicated. He's a winner! Tough class though, keep up with work.
Anyone giving positive feedback on this professor must still have alcohol in their system from the previous weekend. The material presented in class is easy. However, this teacher (if we can accurately call him one) has no concept of teaching at all.
Look, business majors have to take stat. Every teacher is hard because the class is HARD. Crissinger is a nerd and kinda eccentric; but he will go over problems with you all nite if u need it. I liked him better than russell or the other stat prof.
Crissinger is the best teacher for stat. I had Russell for 201, and Crissinger for 202. If you learn math by going over how do do a problem, then looking at examples, take Crissinger. Cares about students, and is always helpful.
he's the worst...take russel! the biggest nerd ever, you fall asleep in his class and none of his ta's speak any english!
The only reason anyone wouldn't like this teacher is because the class is just too hard for them to understand & do well in. Does a great job during lectures explaining problems and helping you understand his notes, however material is naturally difficult
stay away from him
Stay away from him if you want your GPA be good. He can not teach and he does not know what is meaning teach.
the material itself is very difficult. he gives great notes and provides plenty of examples. he was thorough in explaining the information. go to office hours if you need help. he wants students to succeed. those who don't like him didn't ask for help.
Great instructor..Knows his material and presents it well in class. His notes are real good, and he communicates effectively with his students. Great guy. Take him for 201.
Crissinger was a good guy. His notes are great to study from. I'd say he's one of the better math teachers here. This was the last semester of M300. I'd recommend him to teach other higher level statistics courses in the future. He doesnt really have much of a personality but he is quite the dork
Most anal math teacher ever. Class isnt that had, but he nickel and dimes you on tests over dumb stuff.
nice guy, personality of a carrot. class istn hard but i couldnt learn a thing from him. if you can pay attention i hear its possible. good luck.
Crissinger is a very good professor for some very dry material. Very clear, very fair, very helpful, and very friendly...highly recommended.
crissinger is the man.."looks like its someone coming out of the catecombs of kirkbride"
The kind of friendly but lovable dork who must of grown up saying "When I grow up, I wanna teach statistics!" Boring class, but all math is. He really helps you understand the material. Tests are made part by him, and are tough, but are managable if you understand the stuff. Homework not vital
Most who have a problem with him don't like the material to begin with. A great teacher. Provides plenty of examples in class and is helpful during office hours. Would definitely take for 201 and 202.
This guy is a floater. Seriously, watch him walk up the steps, it looks like he's floating. What a fairy. He's a good teacher, very clear. Horrible jokes, he has to laugh at himself cuz no one else does.
Very clear, awesome examples during class. Reviews for every test. Tests are tricky though, but he makes it clear that they are tricky and goes over it in class. You will learn a lot with him.
Not a bad guy. Nice but tricky on tests. Class is horrible but he does a good job teaching it.
Examples help tremendously. Very good professor. Teaches statistics well. TESTS ARE TRICKY!!!! Must study and know the littlest details, but still can get B or C on the test even if you don't know the details, but be very careful!
Statistics is a hard class, I did better with him in 202 than Russell in 201. The grading of the course is in the students favor, but the exams are very hard and the quizzes are easy which help to make up for it. Make good notes sheets and you'll be alright, look at previous exams answer keys and make the sheets from those, it'll help a lot.
Good teacher who is sometimes disliked because the subject is difficult. 202 is complicated, but if you have to take it, take it with Crissinger. Gives good examples in class, quizzes are easy, and he'll help you during office hours. Tests are very difficult.. can't just go into them knowing the basics..you have to really understand everything.
he's out for you
very easy to understand...tests are difficult but cover everything he went over in class...if u have to take 201 take it with Crissinger....he is boring though
this dude saved my life, i missed the final because i forgot what day it was, and i still got to make it up. tests are the trickiest thing though, you need to know concepts and formulas, not answers. lab isnt that great, but its def passable. great grading scale. overall, decent class, unless you're a bad test taker.
Crissinger is an awesome professor that knows what he is talking about. He is very good at explaining and wants you to succeed. Would take the class with him again, just be sure to go to class or you will be lost. Homeworks help out, but aren't necessary all the time.
Take it during winter. I took it during spring and had to audit. Stat is not real math just a lot of concepts, much easier in winter session. probobly summer as well, that is the best advise. Nice guy by the way.
Must take him! He is an excellenr professor! Gives good examples in class. Definitely go to class. Tests are tricky but quizzes are very easy. Stat is a hard subject but he really tries to make it interesting. He really cares about his students and gets right back to you for help. Definitely take him.
If you must take Stat, take Crissinger not Seraphin. I have had both and Crissenger is a much better instructor. He is enthusiastic, helpful, and wants to help you understand the material. His tests can be tricky, but he covers all the material in class so you have all of the answers. He is a good guy, take him if you must take Statistics.
NERD ALERT!!! But what do you expect, he's a math teacher. Lets face it, nobody takes this class just for fun, it's a requirement and Crissinger makes it as pain free as possible. My best advice would be to take it with him in the winter or summer, it's much easier that way. If you do the practice HW, it will be hard to get below a B.
Biggest tool in the world. I took him in the fall, and he was terrible. He uses many annoying cliches, and his tests do not correlate with any classroom activities. He tries to trick his students.
BORING. Lets see, so far I have counted the tiles on the ceiling, the number of fibers in the carpet, and the number of speckles on the wall in KRB-204. He seems like a nice guy, but man he really knows how to put me to sleep.
I have taken many classes with many professors and this one is one of the worst. His tests do not reflect lectures or HW. He is condescending and talks to you like a high school kid. This class is obviously a requirement, but shop elsewhere, take the word of a hard-working student, you will regret taking him.
Nice guy, relatively good teacher, but very boring. I have a feeling that a lot of that is due to the subject and not the teacher though, from what I've heard the other profs are worse. Study hard, do lots of practice problems, and you'll do fine.
The best in the Math department... Very kind and helpful(NOT condescending in the least). Provides excellent notes and exams DO reflect the covered material. If you actually put in the effort you'll be fine.
Hard class no matter who teaches it. Good teacher but lectures are soo boring. Also goes over more material than you need for the exams. Exams are pretty hard. Go over the text book to understand the stuff. He really loves teaching stat but nearly impossible to stay up for a full class. Id recommend crissinger over seraphin but just a hard class
Not the most exciting class, but its hard to make statistics material interesting. He is a good professor though and I would recommend him more than some other math profs. Do the work he gives, it will help you on tests.
Compared to Seraphin, this guy looks like Robin Williams from Dead Poets Society. If you have to take Stat, you must take it with Crissinger.
When I asked for help, he did NOTHING. His test are too long for the amount of time given to take it. If I had to do it all over again i would definately NOT take his class!
I'm not really sure how he has a smiley face as a rating. Refuses to curve tests even when the average is a 60. Does not care if he has to give bad grades to a majority of the class. His tests are completely unfair and are really a measure on how well you can be tricked. PLEASE avoid at all costs!
I have been on the Dean's List several times and never have I struggled so much in a class. Impossible and unfair tests. You can have full understanding of the subject and still fail the tests. NO CURVING. The average grade on the final was a 65% out of 500 students. Worst class of my life
ill be retaking this class thanks to his horrible tests! they're tricky and don't measure your knowledge. if you're smart, you'll see me retaking stat 1 with a different professor!!
I can't believe you are ripping on Crissinger. One of the brightest prof. in the math dept. Does a great job of explaining concepts. Tests are difficult and tricky, but are the same for all sections. Do not cram for these tests or you will fail. Must stay ahead in the class. Took him for 201 and 202. Pay attention in class and do all the HW probs.
I'm sorry, but if he was one of the best in the Math department, over 45% of the class wouldn't have to be retaking the course. The homework problems have no relation to the tests--I did them all. Every other Math course I have ever taken at UD I have received an A in. By far one of the WORST in the dept.--nice guy, but horrible teacher.
I can't believe people are complaining about this man. He's without a doubt the best in the Math department. I agree with the first 12/18/06 rating.Granted his exams are tricky but IF you prepare for them (which I'm guessing was not the case with all the people who complained) then you should do reasonably well. Crissinger is very nice and helpful.
worst teacher, worst class ever. has no heart, rather see kids fail than do well. tests are too long and are designed to trick students rather than test knowledge. avoid.
i tutored students in this class, obviously knowing my work, and STILL have to retake bc of the impossible tests. could study days in advance and not be successful. would not be surprised if many of these positive ratings come from Crissinger himself. A in calc.. D+ in stat? thanks crissinger. AVOID.
I took this class with Crissinger and received a D. I knew I understood the material, and was tricked by his tests. I decided to retake the class with a different professor, and I got an A in the course. PLEASE take with someone else, it will be worth it.
The smiley face next to his name makes me nautious. Do NOT take with this professor--you have about a 60% chance of having to retake the course.
Hard class! No better options for a professor, Bryan is helpful, and curves at the end which helps he grade, i got a B and killed myself studying, but didn't really learn anything!
Prof. Crissinger is a great instructor and explainer. He is well organized with his notes and goes over helpful examples in class to reinforce the concepts. He's always willing to help when you have questions. His exams are tricky though. READ EXAM QUESTIONS CAREFULLY! Doing the HW problems and the practce exams help very much. Take his class!
Class was challenging, but Crissinger did his best to make the material understandable. Nice guy, really smart, and a fair grader.
is great for 230. teaches the material well, but does not do so that you will not learn. you must, must, must, must, must do the problems, as many times as possible, to understand the material. don't worry, after counting its all much easier.
Nahh, I'm just a person who worked hard and got an A in both Math201,and Math202.
He's a cool guy. I enjoy professors who are 100 percent immersed into what they are teaching. You won't meet another professor so enthused by math. For this course do ALL his homeworks and you should be golden.
His lecture is awfully boring! He is a VERY nice guy and willing to help. Unless you are in love with stat, you'll fall asleep. Hard class - take notes and do homework.
The stories are true. There's a difference between knowing statistics and knowing how to take his tests. They're extremely difficult and don't test on knowledge applicable to 201. Just a very hard required class, can't avoid.
He's so nice, and loves statistics. Although the class is terribly boring and required he is easy to understand and tries to make the class interesting. Get ready to teach yourself a lot of the material. You get practice tests which help but his tests are definitely not easy.
Really nice guy, impossible class. Tests are awful and tricky.
Overall decent class. Lectures are boring. If you keep up with the homework you'll do well in the class. He's very helpful outside of class, and he's really nice. Tests are tricky, but if you know the material well, you'll do great. The final is tough.
very clear and the class goes very slow. tests and quizzes are fair. classes are boring, but attend every class to do well
DO THE HOMEWORK!!! If you do the homework (sometimes more than once), you will get an A in the class. The homework prepares you for the quizzes and exams perfectly. MUST ATTEND CLASS to understand concepts. Crissinger is great. Really. 2 Exam, a Final, and quizzes every Friday.
I love this guy!!! he is amazing @ teachin. his class can be a little boring, u dont need the textbook as long as u attend all the lectures
There are only so many words in a thesaurus synonomous with USELESS. I think I saw his class in their...or was it under rude? Or maybe helpless? I think you catch my drift. Take the transfer credit for this class at community college if he is your only option.
Crissinger is the man...He looks like Linguine from Ratatouille
Crissinger does not explain the sections clearly at all. The only way to learn anytthing is by doing all of the homework. And make sure to get the solutions manual. He does not help in office hours either.
Very good teacher. Explains things very well. However, i hated this class with all my heart and soul and do not understand any of it. But if you have to take it, take it with Crissinger.
seriously he is the best! I hate stat with a passion but go to his office hours all the time and understand what is going on in class. he is willing to help and wants people to try and do good. Go to class and quizzes bring up everyones grade
Not great, but by far the best 201 teacher out there. Study the practice tests and you'll do fine.
DO NOT TAKE, i studied all the h.w problems and went to ALLL the lectures the average on the test was a 65 refused to curve, ive been on deans list and have A's in all my major classes but this class is the biggest waste of time and effort, shop else where believe me. take during the winter if you can.
simply, avoid at all costs. Tries to trick you on tests and is an extremely hard grader. nice guy, but that doesnt help when he's screwing you out of decent grades, or even passing.
Teaches the material decently well but the tests are pretty ridiculous. He loves his trick questions and usually has a "none of the above" or 2 as correct answers. I hate those. Study hard for a B. I'd say take him over the other professors in this school's awful math department.
Worst professor I have ever had. Had to learn everything myself. Should be fired. Useless class as well.
he is very clear in explaining the course content, basically spelling it out for you as if you were a 5 year old. some might find that annoying but its actually helpful. Gives plenty of practice problems so DO THE HW. Exams are much harder than quizzes so don't let easy quizzes fool you! go straight to him with questions... the TAs are USELESS.
Im not sure if crissinger acts differently toward students in 201 and 202 compared to students in 450. If you are going to take 450, i would recommend that you do not take it with crissinger! He is unfair, tests are hard, homework is bad. He assigns minitab projects in which you have to program a macro, even if you have no background in doing so
DO NOT TAKE he's a nice guy who explains things well during lectures but the exams are ridiculously hard. He tries to trick you, the average for the last exam was a failing grade.
Hard class in general. He makes everything clear and easy in lecture, but the tests are impossible. You have to teach yourself a lot to do well in this class. refuses to curves. The average on test 2 was a 58% and he refused to throw any curve into play. Hard class, but he isn't that bad of a teacher. Lots of work though.
very hard class especially the tests. I did so much work and studied for days for the second test and the final. He's a pretty good teacher though he's organized and explains everything pretty well. Def take him over any of the other teachers just be prepared to work hard.
The material is very difficult and it's not his fault. He is very clear when he is teaching, but I found it hard to focus on the material for an hour and 15 min. Exams are extremely difficult but are the same for all 201 sections. 2nd test average was a 59 and the final average was a 64. I would take him again, but you need to work hard.
I didn't think that I could do worse in a class than CALC til I met statistics. DO NOT BE FOOLED by these jokers that say he is a good teacher. Almost all of the class failed every tests. I got a B+ on the first exam and A's on the quizzes and still failed. He is impossible to pass! The tests are extremely hard. AVOID unless you want to take AGAIN
Ok, I'm a little confused by the person saying they'd still take this guy after they failed the 2nd test and the final.FALSE, HE IS USELESS! he talks at you for an hour&15, not teach and he's hard to follow. I didn't think he was a good teacher at all, avoid. I still think hes lying about the average to our 2nd test, i was told it was lower than 58
great!!
Really tough material, but he goes slow and explains things thoroughly. Super helpful and accommodating outside of class. Exams are difficult and doing the homework is a must
The material is really challenging but Crissinger is great at explaining it. In his own words he is a "stat geek". The lectures are really boring but that;s because of the material don't blame him. Suck it up, drink a monster, go to class, and you will get good grades. I improved drastically from stat 201 which I also took w/ him cause I went.
Took him for MATH201, got an A and never got below an A on his exams. Decided to wait and take MATH230 with him and its a completely different story. Don't be fooled by the quizzes, the exams are next to impossible. Worked very hard for a B. Exam 1 avg low 70, exam 2 avg mid 60's and refuses to curve. Make sure you know how to do every hmwk problem
AVOID THIS MAN LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!! The questions have nothing to do with the HW or quiz questions. He is a real **** too if you ask him stuff outside class. He will never help you if you miss a class. He just says ask someone in the class to help you. I am trying to get him booted and he is an instructor and not a professor.
doesn't curve... class average on the second test was a 64.7. cant believe that doesn't tell him about his lack of teaching ability.. take him if you are looking to work your ass off for a C
Quiz problems and class examples are easy but the exam questions are extremely difficult. Homework problems look nothing like exam questions. Doesn't curve despite the second test average in the mid 60s.
201 and 202 are horrible classes no matter who you take it with, but I found Crissinger slightly better than Seraphin. Painfully boring material. The textbook is useless, HW problems are not at all similar to test questions and I wouldn't waste my time doing them. I bought Statistics II for Dummies and this really helped me with the material.
painful. highly intelligent man but does not care about the success of his students. hw problems are drastically different from exam problems and exam problems are next to impossible. avoid him and this class at all costs.
he's really helpful. should be an easy class but tests are tricky. TAKE HIM!! if you can't get it at a community college where it would be a lot easier, take him over anyone else. class is tricky but he is so helpful in his office hours. SO MUCH HW! hw is not mandatory but it is impossible to do well on tests and quizes if you don't do it
I loved Prof. Crissinger. Finite was a hard class and I had to to office hours a lot but he was always extremely helpful and polite. He always took time to explain things to me even when I asked him the same thing a few times. He is a VERY nice teacher and he really cares about his students. I definitely recomend him, especially for finite.
Very hard Class, exams are much more difficult than hw problems. Not very concerned about his students grades, avg. exam scores were lower than 70. I do not recommend taking him.
He's such a great professor. His lectures are pretty well structured and is very helpful. I took Math 202 over winter and now I'm taking Math230 with him in the Spring. I would definitely recommend him to others. If you just do the homework he assigns, even though it is optional, you will be fine on tests.
This professor is horrible I'm currently taking Finite Math, which is generally a hard class, and am failing. He teaches by example, not by content. You will need a tutor for this class. His response to my needing his help in the class was to "do the hw and then you'll figure out your problems" but i do the hw now and I am still failing DO NOT TAKE
Took him for finite math this semester. The class itself is RIDICULOUS, I had to audit the class halfway through because I was consistently getting D's. Crissinger's a nice guy and is willing to help you but you need to ask. He also tries hard to learn your name. I don't want to blame him as a teacher for my struggling, but tests are kinda unfai
He is the most unreasonable professor I have ever had. The tests are unfair, and no force of nature will get him to curve. If you must take this class, do so during a semester where you have nothing else of significant difficulty. His lectures are clear but his tests throw curveballs, so it doesn't matter how good his lectures are anyway.
I would not recommend him, don't take his class unless absolutely necessary. He doesn't curve even when the average is horrible and his tests are definitely very tricky. Finite is a hard class in general and he makes it 10 times harder.
He makes the subject extremely difficult. Doesn't curve when the test averages are always a failing grade. Has a quiz every week in discussion that are nothing like examples from class. Tests are extremely hard and the final was impossible! Do not take this teacher if you can avoid it!
Hard class no matter which prof you take. That said, I recommend Crissinger because he explains things better than most in the math dept. Prepare to work hard. Course is sink or swim; you must keep up with the optional HW to avoid sinking. I cant stress that enough. 1st midterm easy, 2nd midterm tough, final tough. weekly quizzes easy. Good luck
Not a bad professor but the course itself is really boring. Exams are all multiple choice and not that difficult. HW is optional and so are lectures.
Easy class. Lectures are optional. If you took stat in HS, you will be fine. Can be a bit boring, but lectures and lab really help solidify an A.
Crissinger is really boring to listen but to he is clear and helpful. He gives two exams, and a final and there are quizzes in your lab section. The quizzes are 20% of your grade so take them seriously but if you study for 45 minutes the night before you'll be fine. No stat prof is easy at UD but Crissinger is probably the the guy to take.
He's extremely nice and easy to understand. He knows the material really well and teaches it pretty clearly for material that requires more than a semester to understand. I would recommend him for any math class. Exams and quizzes are pretty simple as long as you understand the homework.
His lectures were incredibly boring, but he is a total goober. If you took AP stat in high school this class will be a breeze. Honestly, just do the homework, make sure you understand it, and you will do great!
He's the best of stat teachers. Still boring but attendance is recommended as he explains better than the book. DONT just do the hw problems, understand the formulas and when to use them and how to read the charts. Me and 5 of my friends didnt fail dont get too spooked (and one of them didnt know the material until the night before the exam.)
Took him in the winter because he was great in the fall for 201. However, exams were harder because he wrote them himself in the winter, and he is a tough grader. Otherwise, take him in the fall or spring, or any semester that you want to actually understand the material. He da man
Had him for both 201 and 202. Decent professor. Moves through material slowly. Very structured classes. Teaches material clearly. Exams are pretty easy. Kinda dorky but you love him for that. Best teacher for stat
his expectations of the class knowledge are way too high. He grades really hard and sets you up to do bad in the class.
Extremely nit picky. Takes a lot of points off homeworks and tests for small, trivial errors. Conceptually not a horribly difficult class, but his nit pickiness makes it hard. Exams are generally reasonable, but the final was completely absurd and came out of nowhere. Not many As given in the class. Also walks like he shat his pants.
The class itself is a hard class, but he does his best to teach you. The material is hard but if you go to class and do all of the optional homework problems, it shouldn't be a really hard class. The quizzes were so easy in discussion and the TA basically showed you how to do the quiz problems right before you took them
a very knowledgable man, and although he's boring, he teaches pretty well. Would've helped if I went to class more often. I liked him better as a stat professor since that's his field of expertise, but regardless, he's helpful and teaches well.
Brian is a really nice guy and explains things in a way that makes it easier to understand. Stat is really hard so the class is difficult but if you do have to take it, your best chance of doing well is with him.
Prof Crissinger is very nice and will work with you in office hours if you have questions. He says to do the problems to do well on the exams and quizzes.. which is entirely true. The more you practice by doing homework and practice exams the better you will do on exams and quizzes
Smart guy and not bad at teaching. Exams are not extremely difficult but are tricky. Doesn't curve exam scores at all even when the average score is very low. He is probably the best out of the stat professors but that isn't saying much.
Makes it impossible to do well. Gives extremely hard exams, won't curve, and then will go back and take points away from, your other assignments that are supposed to be grade boosters. Could be a much easier class, but he tries to make everyone do poorly. I know that sounds ridiculous for a professor, but I am NOT joking.
You must must read the textbook in order to understand the material. Attending class is not necessary at all. Definitely three difficult courses, but the best option of professors
This class is very difficult! I strongly recommend that you take the online version instead! Either over winter or during the semester the online class eliminates labs and stupid hw that don't help your grade. Crissinger means well but doesn't really clearly teach the course.
very challenging class. I'd recommend it at a community college
DEFINITELY TAKE ONLINE. The best piece of advice I could ever give another blue hen, is do not take stat here!!!! Read somewhere that Crissinger is one of the worst stat professors in the country, and he's the best one we have offered to us. The tests are ridiculous and he never curves. He also will go back and take poiints away from you
Take this course at a different school. They try and trick you on exams. The class is so hard.
Comes off as a great guy, explains the material extremely well. The TA's teach you everything you need to know before the easy quiz you take. Everything seems to be running smoothly till your first exam. 10x harder than anything you've seen in class, textbook, or on quizzes. The second exam is even harder than the first, and the final is impossible
This class is extremely difficult no matter which professor you take. Crissinger is probably the best out of them all, although he is not great. He is a really nice guy, but the exams are extremely difficult and nothing like the practice problems or notes. I recommend hiring a tutor to get through the class. I ended up with a B-. There is no curve.
Class is so hard no matter who you take but Crissinger is the best option. Definitely take this class at another college/over summer/winter.
Would definitely try to take this class somewhere else if you can. The class is hard and Crissinger doesn't exactly help. You think you're doing fine until you get the first exam and realize the problems are nothing like what you've done in class. He's a good guy, he just doesn't teach a good subject.
By far the worst professor I have ever had. He is not very reasonable and extremely strict over the littlest of things. Be advised that if your average grade falls below an 80 then you will be required to purchase an online homework code that you need to keep a perfect score or points will be deducted from your final grade. DONT TAKE STAT AT UD!!!!
He was a TERRIBLE HORRIBLE TEACHER. do not think youre the exception that will do good, youre not. he doesnt help you at all. they make you buy a program that is 60 dollars if you dont get over a 70 on each exam. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO TAKE THIS COURSE SOMEWHERE ELSE. (unless youve taken stats before). he teaches using like 2 examples and thats it.
Tough class, good professor. No need to worry. The class is hard here no matter whom you take it with. If you do the homework and study, you will be fine. I am expecting an A or A-. It is definitely doable. Crissinger writes great, clear, precise notes. VERY detail-oriented in every way. Best professor to take MATH201 with for sure.
Crissinger is nice but his exams are not at all indicative of how well students understand the material. As all the other comments have said, don't take this class at UD because the grading is set against students. I just barely passed this class and will be taking MATH202 at another school. Prepare for a semester of heartache if you take MATH201
Has a degree in Incompetency. is a terrible overall professor. Has no business teaching in a top tier university; let alone any school. should go retake elementary school classes and earn a golden star in fairness and humanity.
Tests are impossible! Labs are useless they don't help your grade! Quizzes are easy but nothing like the tests. Homework will most likely hurt you because you need 100 average or receive a deduction in your grade(you can work on it until you get 100 but make sure you give yourself enough time to do it). Data Analysis are a wast of time!
Avoid this class if at all possible. This is a statistics class that doesn't let you use a statistics calculator. Crissinger is a perfectly nice guy, but his exams are impossible to get a good grade on. Had 202 with him also, 202 is better than 201 but still incredibly challenging because of the way he "teaches." Got a B- in 202
Very difficult subject matter. However, he is much better than the other stat teacher. Very nice guy
Crissinger is absolutely horrible. He acts all nice and cute, but his grading is EXTREMELY harsh. He often refers students to student conduct for "cheating" and his notes are confusing. His tests are so much harder than the homework he assigns. Loves math too much it's annoying.
My one suggestion is take at least 202 somewhere else. He tells us that only 60% of the class will get a passing grade, yet doesn't try to change it. He doesn't help when you go to office hours, and class consists of completing one problem the entire time. Labs are completely useless. Only take if youve already taken stat and are a whiz. Seriously
Tough course but Crissinger makes it as managable as possible. Definitely the best teacher for this course. He gives very detailed, organized notes that break down the material a lot. Definitely need to go to class to understand what's going on. Got in the 80's on both exams but did well on the Final and ended up with a A-.
Really difficult class. Seldom were things explained well. Lab was good point booster but nothing matched up except weekly quizzes. This teacher made me really dislike stats. Also, 201 is supposed to be for business stats but it has nothing to do with business. Refuse to take 202 at UD.
Nice guy but horrible class. you NEED to take this class with a friend or you will fall asleep every day. very boring subject very dry. he tries to cover material thoroughly but ends up spending way too much time on things. exams are MC but are difficult. all the MATH202 profs are bad so just take Crissinger if you cant take it at DelTech
By far the worst professor and class I have taken at UD. I had him for both 201 and 202. Very rude and inconsiderate. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
This class is worked up to be extremely difficult. In reality, it's not the material that's difficult it's the exams. Amongst all the teachers, Crissinger will prepare you the best for the exams. He's nice and cares a lot, but he definitely sticks to his rules 100%.
Terrible professor. Doesn't curve even though the whole class will fail an exam. You will have homework every week and it won't really help you on the exams. The exams are super hard if you don't study for a whole week. Don't take this class. Take it in a community college because the math department here is terrible.
Avoid this class. Just read the reviews for stat teachers at this school, including crissinger, and you will know they are terrible. Test are hard and he is a bad teacher. I read reviews thinking i could get by, biggest mistake of my life
Very nice guy and enjoys statistics, but his exams are impossible. He makes you feel really prepared during class and with the homework assignments, but the test questions are 10x harder. He doesn't realize that stat doesn't come easily to students
Your grade is made up of 3 exams worth 80% of your final grade and 20% lab work and weekly homework assignments. Exams are so hard and he doesn't curve anything. Homework assignments are tedious and don't really prepare you for exams. This class is not supposed to be this difficult. I'm only passing because I've taken statistics courses before.
Probably going to get a C in this class. Lectures and homework make it seem like you understand everything and that you might be ok for the the exams. Exams are much harder than expected. He doesn't even write them himself. Good luck if you take this course here with Crissinger.
Terrible professor. Doesn't care about you so save the sympathy speech when you ask for him to curve when 124 people on average get a 52%. Save the sympathy speech when 47 people drop the course and then the average is still a low of 58% on the second exam. Pretty sure he has to dry off all the exams with a fan from all the tears.
Honors student and took stat in high school but still got a C. Class is terribly boring and it is TR so even worse. He spends the entire class deriving formulas and he might only do one example. Textbook is completely useless. He held a review session once but flat out refused to answer people's questions.
This class was super hard. I thought about not taking because it didn't seem that hard since I have already taken AP Statistics in high school but no. This class you should avoid. He never helps when it is times for exams. He would say "probably it will be on it." JUST TELL US IF IT IS ON IT! Avoid, take it somewhere else. AVOID this class at UD!!
Worst professor i've ever had. doesnt help anyone very unclear when answering questions. He is very smart but a super nerd and expects everyone to understand the material after the first time he says it. AVOID THIS CLASS!
by far the worst professor i have ever taken. very unhelpful and unclear when answering questions. He uses the same 5 examples for every chapter even when they don't make sense. He is very smart but a super nerd and expects everyone to be as smart as him and understand every single thing the first time hearing it. AVOID THIS CLASS!!
He is very detail oriented and expects the same of his students. Tests are moderate if you payed attention in class and carefully note the format of how he states his statistical inferences. If you state you conclusions differently he will take off points. Very clear, and generally helpful in his office hours. I learned a ton of Stat
Clear and very thorough during lecture, but lots of details, can be boring, and expects students to remember a lot. Doesn't curve exams. But there are a lot of other assignments, so do them because they will definitely help your grade. Take advantage of any extra credit he gives. Actually one of the better stat professors at UD, compared to others.
he was a replacement for the professor I had originally chosen, but since he couldn't make from Belgium at the last minute, he was assigned. Mr. Crissinger is the worst professor i had in a very short line of professors. He didn't even went over what was tough in stat 1, and speeded through chapters to catch up; about 30 of 160 students stayed.
Hard class and very boring professor. He lectures a whole chapter using one example so if you don't understand one topic, you're going to struggle through the rest of the chapter. Labs and lab quizzes weekly. They take a long time, but they boost your grade. I don't recommend taking Bryan because he thinks each student is a math expert like him.
Crissinger overall is a good teacher, he takes his time during lecture outlining each chapter and going through the topics and practice problems slowly. Crissinger isn't the problem, it's the exams. They're hard and nothing like the practice questions done in class or in the HW. Online HW due 2x a week and only 2 exams and a final.
Probably one of the worst and hardest teachers I have had at school. Avoid taking this class at Delaware if you can. Crissinger does not care about his students at all and he literally says on the first day of class how the mean grade is in the C's
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH ANY OF THE PROFESSORS OFFERED. This course is a requirement for my major and plan to take this course elsewhere and get it transferred since I am projected to fail. This course is made 100% harder than it needs to be. RUN AWAY.
Math 201 is one of the worst course offered at UD, I had taken it before and dropped because of the prof. Crissinger does an excellent job teaching the material. He is willing to go over it slowly and clearly and you are able to read his handwriting and understand his accent unlike some other math profs. The exams are hard but are department wide.
The exams are miserable. There are only 3 of them and each has very few questions; get one multiple choice wrong and it's 4 points off. On the final, each multiple choice is worth 1% of the final average. Horrible grading system. Questions are often trick questions and are not anything that would be explained in lectures or labs. Take it elsewhere.
He is the worst professor I've had. UD's math offerings are poor and Crissinger takes it to a whole new level. He doesn't curve any grades even though the class average is 70 or even less. Take this class at a community college because you might have to take it again anyway if you don't get a C- or better. Save your GPA from getting hit massively.
Stat has a bad reputation at our school and there is a reason for it. The teachers are not exactly good and there are not many of them. Crissinger's exams are really hard for most people. He is one of the only stat teachers so you probably will be stuck with him. Try to avoid although there is no good alternative. You may have to take a GPA hit.
Very challenging exams, good luck!
Crissinger was not very helpful for me. If you can't make his office hours, then forget about class outside of class. He took 3 days to respond to his emails and the TA (the one that is supposed to help) is not great at all. Labs sucked as well. Tests are ridiculous. Don't make the same mistake I did: the class is built for kids to fail.
Assigns a ton of assignments. Lectures and notes can get kind of rambly and not the easiest to follow. Its a tough course and he's a tough guy.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!!!!
There are many reviews that say this class is difficult. All that is required is to attend class, do the homework and you will be fine. the tests are not any harder than the homework. He is always available for questions through email or in class. He explains everything very clearly in class. there is no reason you can't get at least a B
Hes a nice guy & all and if you need help he will provide it, however the lectures are really boring. I went to the first several, and in hindsight I shouldn't have skipped as much later, but it became tough to go and productively learn so I took to learning it on my own. He shows NO leniency with grades/late assignments/ anything
Do not take this class. Do not even think about taking this class here. I can't even put into words how awful this class is. It could be so much simpler but Crissinger makes it so much more difficult then it needs to be.
Its not completely impossible just incredibly boring. It felt like the lectures weren't even worth going to because they didnt really help me at all. It was a lot of teaching myself. Its hard and hes tough. I highly recommend taking it somewhere else
Professor Crissinger is not horrible. The class is just poorly structured. The concepts taught in class do not match what is put on the tests. The tests are also mostly multiple choice, so your grade will suffer even if you get a few wrong. Crissinger does a lot of examples in class, which is somewhat helpful. Try to take somewhere else.
His class is impossible, going to his lectures felt like sitting in a room and watching someone doodle. Never knew what to expect on any of his exams, will kill your goal I wish I audited it.
You've got to really, really, work hard in this class. Part of the problem is that Tests, Lecture, and Labs and handled by 3 different parties, and inevitably there is a loss of information. I managed to pull a C- in this class after bombing (50%) the first exam, but I've never had to dedicate so much to a single class in college (finance major).
Teaches the info in the class really well The tests are pretty tricky, with wording seemingly meant to trick you. Test averages were in the 60-70 range with no curve. Grade can be brought up with out of class quizes, although they arent that easy and take a while. If you go to class and do Hw, should be able to pass. If youre bright, A is possible
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS AT UD! Crissinger is a nice guy and all but this class is taught so poorly. Rushes through the topics and only teaches through examples. The amount of quizzes, homework, labs, and data analysis assignments was to much for a winter session class. This class should be restructured and taught a different way.
He's a very by-the-book kind of guy. He won't cut you any slack or provide extra help in terms of assignments. Don't get the book; I literally never opened it and still got As on exams. Lots of tedious online homework, the sakai work is enough to understand the material. In lectures he's a bit boring, but explains everything clearly.
Bryan is good at explaining those statistics examples to students, at least to me. I can understand the knowledge quite clearly by reading and trying to figure out those examples he gave us. No curve or extra credit provided but he did try his best. The course is hard but Bryan is a good choice.
Crissinger is the boy. Cool guy, well tempered, relates statistics to the real world in an understandable way. 10/10 would take again.
If you're taking this class at UD, TAKE CRISSINGER. He is actually a really good teacher. The class is difficult no matter what but if you go to class and keep up with the work, there is no reason for anyone to not pass.
Nice guy, tough class, doesn't curve at all
Great professor! Very clear class structure and easy to follow. As long as you follow him and study after every class, you will be fine.
Class and honestly the STATs program needs to be restructured. The material you learn in class is a faction of what you're tested on and a mountain of pointless quizzes and Data assignments. Do not take at UD...
Stat at UD is a really terrible program and Crissinger does not make it better. 20% of your grade is based on online quizzes and data analysis assignments with material on them he never actually teaches you how to do. Overall a good guy, just not the best professor. Take this class somewhere else.
I struggled through this class, and know that my peers did also. His lectures were monotone and difficult to follow and his exams were nearly impossible. I completed all of my homework, quizzes, labs, data assignments and attended class but only BARELY made a C-. Seriously do not recommend.
STAT has such a bad reputation at UD because of professors like Crissinger. The average on the 2nd exam was so low, that he didn't even tell us what is was. He said in class, "You all were admitted into UD, you should be better than this." He does not curve exam grades or final grades. Take STAT somewhere else.
This class requires SO MUCH work between homework and labs and DA assignments and exams and still all of the extra work barely helps your grade if you do well. Having a math class in a lecture hall setting is absolutely asinine and unproductive plus Crissinger was not helpful at all. He stood and talked monotonously for an hour and that was it.
Really just not a good professor. UD is such a nice university, honestly a big shame we don't have a single decent professor for this course. Tests are very tough, there is a lot of homework, quizzes, lab assignments and data assignments, all hard. Should take it online.
So I never went to this class from the second week to school until after the first exam. Then i decided to go to the class to boost my grade and then did above the bad average on exam two. After that i didn't go to a single class and got a B on the final... I took stat in high school so it was a bit easier but this guy doesn't do much to help you.
I probably went to less than half the classes because he doesn't teach you. If you're hard working you're better off teaching yourself. He's not a good professor but I think the bigger problem is the statistics department at UD as a whole. They make the final super easy so everyone doesn't fail though
He says attendance is mandatory but it's not. The class is really heavy on homework, labs, lab quizzes, and data analysis and that's honestly the only reason I passed this class. He has no sympathy for anyone doing poorly, does not curve exams, and honestly makes you feel stupid if you ask him questions because he thinks he's a perfect teacher.
Worst teacher I have had at UD which is saying a lot since this place is full of terrible processors. He talks like a robot and explains everything textbook. Half the class gets 50% on exams and he offers no additional help that his usual office hours that he doesn't come to himself sometimes tbh. Avoid this class and teacher if you can.
Worst teacher at the University. It seems as though he takes pride in failing his students. Getting extra help from this man is like pulling teeth. He often doesnt show up to his own office hours and when he does provide extra help he makes you feel like an idiot. Do yourself a favor and avoid this professor.
I got a 5 on the AP Stat exam and a B+ in MATH201 and I barely passed this class with a C-. Homeworks are unnecessarily long and difficult. His lab TA's are super unhelpful. VERY tough grader. Doesn't curve. Final is cumulative.
He is a good teach if you are able to follow, but with a 65% fail rate in Math201, he has to be doing something wrong. He does not go over tests and questions people struggle with. He also just Assumes that everyone knows exactly what he is talking about when he is teaching, however no one does ( asked this to multiple people within his class, and
Terrible professor and Im not sure why he is still employed at the University of Delaware. Excellent math students struggle to pass his class just because he has failed to be a good professor. He doesnt post grades so you dont know how your doing in the class and is not clear on grading criteria.
If you have to take math 201 at UD. Prof. Crissinger is the best choice. He will explain everything in detailed. Stat is not an easy class in UD for real. But you will realize there is nothing hard at the end. Just pay attention and be careful and you will get good grade.
DO NOT TAKE MATH201 AT UD. I tried so hard but he makes you feel stupid if you ask a question. Exam averages below 60% & he still doesn't curve. He wants his students to fail. I failed at UD and took it elsewhere and got a 98. 65% of students fail MATH 201?? yeah like that's normal! I knew the material but he just sets you up to fail. TAKE ONLINE
I tried so hard but he makes you feel stupid if you ask a question. Exam averages below 60% & he still doesn't curve. He wants his students to fail. I failed at UD. I knew the material but he just sets you up to fail. TAKE ONLINE
WORST teacher in the math program. DONT EVEN TRY.
Wow ok where to begin. He makes no sense. Expects you to pop out of the womb with a full understanding and passion for Statistics. Class average was a 42? Aw thats sad but theres so curve sorry :////. Think your TA is gonna help you out? Oh wait but you dont speak Chinese so like sorry youre fresh outta luck. Take this class if you hate life.
Best teacher if you go to class every day and are good at exams. Very organized. You take notes every class. Easy to understand if you have background knowledge of statistics. Really cool and interesting class if you take the time to study.
DO NOT take him for STAT200. It is impossible to do well on homework quizzes which kills your grade. Additionally, he wrote his own textbook which makes no sense at all.
His hw quizzes are impossible to pass and my classes exam average was around 60%. His hw takes 5+ hours to complete 2x per week, but only checks 2 of the problems on the quizzes, making the quiz averages constantly around 30%. I wish I dropped him.
This is probably the worst professor that I have ever had across the board. He thinks he is a perfect teacher and expects you to already know so much about stats. The amount of homework he gives is ridiculous and his HW quizzes are very hard to do well on. Overall terrible professor, wished I had dropped the class long ago.
THE worst teacher I have ever had. Exam class average was a 54%. Regularly assigned HW Quizzes, the only other chance to bring your grade up, usually at best was a 70% class average. Cannot explain things, errors in the textbook(which he made himself) and best of NO curving whatsoever. Make every effort to avoid this guy.
I took this class in Winter Session and I have to say it was what I expected. Tons of repetitive homework assignments to get you familiar with the topic. Multiple "Homework quizzes" that are grading your homework assignments on accuracy. Be prepared to take at most 2 hours out for this homework. He gives you a notecard cheat-sheet for equations.
Definitely would NOT recommend this class. The only graded assignments are 2 exams and weekly "homework quizzes" that are nearly impossible to get above a 50% on.
Took his class on winter session. I feel like the class is relatively easy than others that I have taken so far at UD, two midterms, one final, and 12 'HW quiz'. The quiz is easy if you DO YOUR HOMEWORK (just copy N paste your hw solutions). I made 15/15 to most of them, make sure to write all the formulas, not just the answer. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM!
Bryan is possibly the nicest teacher I've met at UD. He is very quirky and passionate about statistics, and while the class itself is kind of dry, he spends decent energy making it a bit more interesting and helping students with questions, especially via email. Really fantastic guy, and I can't imagine a better guy to teach your first stat class.
This guy right here might possibly be the worst professor to step into the state of Delaware. I would recommend that all costs to never ever take this class with Crissinger. The most dull and boring classes of all time. Test are had and there are no curve. HW quizzes hardest thing. Highest fail rate for a class I have ever seen. Don' do it. Please!
For the love of God please don't even consider taking this class with Crissinger. This might possibly be the worst professor I have ever experienced. There is no way to bring your grade up if you don't do well in the exams. Please from student to another student reading this, don't ever let this man teach you.
Only graded things are homework quizzes that take hours to finish, and then you rarely get anything above a fifty on. Other than that it is similarly unforgiving exams. I had to teach myself most everything from the textbook, and even after dumping double-digit man-hours a week I ended up with a failing grade.
Homework is incredibly time consuming and his homework quizzes were impossible to do well on. Do not take this class!
HW quizes are graded very harshly, wish I knew that. I had to study his rubric to find out what he wants to see on the hw more than learning material some days. Trying to juggle this class and science classes was very difficult. Be prepared to spend at least 6 hours a week doing HW like he expects, the material is not too bad to understand.
Crissinger was great for a while, but when I began asking for help he told me that I was doing things last minute (even though I spent 6+ hours doing each homework) and that he couldn't help and told me that was his "$0.02". His homework quizzes are graded harshly and brought down my grade a lot. Does offer 2% extra credit.
Stat at UD is way harder than it needed to be. Understanding basics of statistics is important, but even for 200 level stat classes, that is not nearly enough to pass. Crissinger is not willing to help at all with minitab assignments, is the opposite of sympathetic to the students, and tries to trick you on the next-to-impossible exams.
Only grades in this class are quizzes and exams. Be prepared to study hard and take full advantage of the textbooks practice problems. He was very willing to meet for appointments outside of office hours.
This class was fine. Asynchronous lectures were posted each week, and there was a quiz on the previous week's material each Thursday. My one issue with this class was that it was marked async for registration, but we had to take a quiz every single week Thursdays at 8:50am. Very frustrating, but a good class and caring professor otherwise.
Class was taken all online. He was very helpful during office hours and was very willingly to meet with students outside of them if you need extra help.
The man cannot teach. The lectures were hard to follow, he just assumes you know how to do certain things. The assignments he makes you do were never explained; therefore, I was thoroughly lost. I know multiple people who have failed this class! Do not recommend! Take Ilvento if you can!!
honestly cannot stress this enough if you love yourself please do not take this class with crissinger. I know so many people who got Fs. Lectures are dry and hard to follow, skips things assuming you would just know what they mean/ how to do them. He wrote the textbook himself, so you already know what thats like. Assignments are impossible.
do NOT take ANY class with this professor. the class itself is painfully boring. everyone fails. dude is nice i guess but cannot teach. the textbook is one that he wrote (but has not been published or approved) & it is the most abrasive, outdated thing ever. there is a test every week that he grades for correction, despite claiming he doesnt.
If you're looking for yet another math prof at ud who is smart but shouldn't be a prof, take his class. He's nice but you have to buy HIS $40 e-textbook with errors. It also doesn't make a lot of sense, and he just reuses old videos from last year/ the fall semester and posts them to watch w/ no class time. I can't wait for this class to be done.
This class was hard for no reason. I am a good student but I found this class and the professor to be unreasonable. I would easily spend 6 hours doing hw for this class and the hw were graded so harshly. PLEASE TAKE THIS CLASS WITH A DIFFERENT PROF!! He's a nice dude that helps during office hours but the tests and hw are so hard.
I would take any other professor over him. I had this class asynchronous and it was the hardest class I have ever taken. He does not care about any of his students or how they are doing in this class. Everyone fails every exam and he does not seem to care at all. I would recommend taking this class with literally anyone else.
Bryan Crissinger is by far the worst professor I've had at the University of Delaware. His lack of explanation of Stat201 led me to fail his class. I'm about to be a senior at University of Delaware and I took many classes. I never had a class so unorganized and confusing as this one. If your taking Stat do not take Crissinger he sucks!
If you are reading this and signed up for Crissinger please drop his class while you still can. His homework assignments are so long it takes about a day to fully complete it for no reason. His lectures are boring and lack explanation for everything. I'm almost about to graduate and he is the first class I've ever failed in.
Spending hours upon hours on homework assignments only to receive 20/30s or less. Tests near impossible. switch out if possible
Genuinely the hardest class Ive ever taken in my life, and Im usually good at math. PLEASE reconsider before taking this class, it completely ruined my first semester. Hes a nice guy, but the homework level is ridiculous, and my entire class is struggling.
This class was possibly the worst thing ive ever done. Genuinely made me feel so stupid getting 7/30 on every homework. Theres no possible way to do really good unless you are bryan crissinger. He grades homework on correctness which is horrible, and tests are impossible. If you can drop, drop. No need to ruin your life over this class like me.
I took this class and toughed it out for 3/4ths of the semester. This class will take up most of your time out of class since the homework take many hours to complete. and once completed he grades them on correctness. if possible I would try to take this course with a different teacher since this one will likely bring down your GPA.
He's a nice guy and obviously passionate about the subject. The work itself is hard and mildly time consuming but if you put in the effort to get help its not terrible. The textbook is helpful
This class is very hard mostly because of the long and hard hw thats graded on correctness. Homework's were also frustrating because after the many hours of doing them, they barely raise your grade. The tests were okay but definitely not easy. He's willing to zoom with students for extra help and responds to emails quickly. Nice guy, bad class.
Crissinger is probably good at Mathematics but the man cant convey his knowledge if you pointed a gun at him. The first half of the class wasn't bad, but I got a 70 and 49 on the exams. And the Exams are the only thing that change your grade, even though homework's take hours. He refuses to explain things simply. GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN.
He is extremely passionate about statistics and goes in depth in all of the concepts covered in the class. Everything is explained well and the textbook is extremely helpful. This being said, statistics is a difficult and boring subject for some, so it may be a challenge. Lectures are very helpful and worth attending.
Bryan doesn't really grade you with many things. Weekly quizzes and exams which can lead you to getting stressed out to get a good grade in the course, but the questions on the exams and quizzes are really easy and you should breeze through this class as if you show up and do a normal amount of studying.
I took AP stats the year prior to this class and I still struggled a bit. He is a nice professor and wants you to ask for help but the lectures can get a bit slow. If you dont come to class youll be lost. Homework is graded on correctness or serious attempts and he gives a lot of homework every week. Tests are relatively easy.
I switched my major because of this class! I LOVE stat, but this course was bad. I took AP Stat in high school, but I REALLY had to work to get an A in this class. Exams are worth 70% of your grade and 2/30 mult choices wrong w perfect FRQs gives u a B+. Hwrk was nearly impossible at times. If u do or dont like stat, do not take this professor.
Overall nice guy seems super passionate about STATs however as a non stat major he makes the class almost impossible to understand. He gives a lot of homework and very few explanations. If you miss a class you will be lost.
Guys, please, save yourself. Unless you are a person skilled in math, do not take this professor. He lectures the entire class period, is not engaging, and assigns a lot of confusing work. He grades harshly and is so confusing. Save yourself and do an online class.
This class is not very difficult if you regularly attend class and do homework problems, but only graded by weekly quizzes and 3 exams (2 regular and final exam). However problems on HW are usually harder than quiz and exam problems, which are more like example problems from class. The professor also provides old lecture video if you miss class.
Bryan Crissinger is a very nice professor. I respect that he rly tried to make STAT easier. But there are loads of homework that literally will take 2 hours per day to finish. and a lot of the answers are unclear, and if you get one part of the question wrong, the whole question will be sabotaged. STAT is not worth it overall.
I dropped this class and so did many of my classmates. Never take him. His textbook he makes you buy is full of typos and impossible to understand. He grades his homework on correctness and not to mention it takes hours to do. His exams are impossible and its hard not to fall asleep during his lectures.
He is very good at explaining concepts easily especially because the content of the course is more difficult than 470. The grade is exams, quizzes, and software assignments so each is important for a good grade. He is a fair grade and gives partial credit for most question. You must show up to class though. Exams are usually easier than quizzes.
Bryan is a great guy and made statistics easy to learn and compelling to listen to. He wrote his own textbook which is pretty good and you need it for homework, but his lecture examples are interesting and the weekly homeworks will teach you the material if you miss the lectures, which dont take attendance.
Professor Crissinger is a very tough grader. All of his homework are extremely lecture heavy so if you miss a lecture you might as well kiss your A goodbye. For someone who had no experience or background in statistics I struggled a lot. I personally would not take another statistics class solely based off of this class.
Honestly, run for your life. This class was the worst I have ever taken. I am usually an "A" student and have never needed to just pass a class, but that was the goal with this one. He lectures very heavily and his tests are nearly impossible. And don't even think about missing a class because you will fall behind 8 years and never catch back up.
He's a good professor. Teaches well, but lectures can be a bit dry. Randomly uses personal life experiences as math problems. His textbook is excellent, very succinct, and mostly easy to understand
This professor is super hard! I was spending 12+ hours a week just on his homework. His tests were crazy hard and majority of students would do poorly on them. When I voiced my concerns about my grade, he didn't seem to care at all. If you need to take STAT 200, please consider Professor Ilvento!
Great lectures, but the first two hws that I have done have taken me 24 hours. Absolutely ridiculous. I have taken much more difficult classes that have never gone above 12 hours for one assignment. FOR STATS!!! Incredible. The worst part is most problems are just unnecessary. Very good teacher, but worst class of my life just because of homework
Do not take this Professor. I have not gotten below a B in any class yet but this will probably be my first. All he does is give you homework problems that will take multiple hours to complete, and he uses an antiquated online program that is just a pain to deal with. His exams look extremely easy but you walk out with a 70% or worse. Avoid Him.
Great class if you actually want to learn, but you're not going to skate by in it. Bryan was a pretty nice guy and the T/A was cool too. You have to do all the homework and practice problems otherwise it will be very difficult to keep up. Fast paced and demanding, but well taught. Be ready to spend a few hr a week on homework.
Great guy overall, he's super supportive and kind. The homework is kind of absurd, but planning out when you do it is a good way to make it manageable. The exams were fairly easy and none of the coursework was hard at all.
The professor and lectures can be a bit boring, and theres a lot of homework outside of class. 7 online software homeworks and practice problems that can take you a 2 or 3 hours. 2 midterms and a final. Compared to other professors, though, this is probably the best one to take. He seems really passionate about the subject. Don't skip the lectures
I've never struggled in a math class before taking Stat 200 with professor Crissinger. Lectures are mandatory to attend if you want to do well, but good luck staying awake to the sound of his monotone voice. The textbook required for this class was written by no other than Crissinger himself, only his grammar is so terrible it hardly makes sense.
Homework will take you HOURSSSSSS. and i mean hours. That alone makes this class so hard to take. i didnt think it was hard concepts but the homework is also graded for accuracy. so if exams arent hard enough, get ready to get 18/30 on the homework that took you 5 hours because it wont help boost your exam grades at all. dont take this class.
The homework and software assignments will be your downfall. They take hours and hw is graded on accuracy. His lectures don't really teach you anything and the textbook is written by him and barely explain anything. Do not take his class I had to audit it and take it with a new professor.
The homework takes hours on end and the lectures are useless because the way he speaks it is tough to pay attention. The book you have to buy is written by him so there are so many problems to do. Avoid him
DO NOT TAKE He assigns homework that will take you hoursss graded by accuracy. Its really hard to follow what he is doing in class and I had to go to tutoring to understand even a little what was happening. Anyone I know in another stat class doesn't do any of the same stuff as this class and thinks what we do is nothing short of crazy, which it is
homeworks take 3-4 hours and are graded on accuracy. Makes us buy his own book. Nice guy, but class is terrible all around I do not recommend.
His lectures are so boring there's no way you'll be able to stay awake and pay attention. When trying to do the HOURS of homework, using the notes from class won't be helpful. He wrote his own textbook and made up his own definitions, so it is hard to get help out of class as well. I ended up having to audit, so take my advice and RUN!!
It was a struggle at the beginning but once you get used to the homework you learn to manage it and it gets easier. you need to attend every class if you want to do good but its not hard information and he very clearly explains what you need to know, you need to take notes and nothing is recorded or posted so it will be easy if you take the steps.
There is a lot of homework in this class, but the homework problems are VERY similar to the ones on exams. If you attend class and do his example problems, you will do well in the class. He wrote his own textbook so everything in class is in there word for word, so I oftentimes took my notes in the textbook.
literally just don't do it.
horrible. seriously. do. not. take. this. professor. save. yourself.
quick run away
seriously. don't even consider it. change ur major if this is the only professor left for this class. his textbook is his autobiography. he seriously will make your semester feel like ur being bullied.
bryan crissinger has a nice personality to distract students from how actually devious he is. he gives you a tests where free response is worth 40% and its always something you have never seen before. homeworks take hours and are graded on accuracy, doesnt use excel like every other class, lecutres super boring and he wrote the textbook and tests
Worst professor I've ever had. Do not take. It is tortuous sitting through his exams and he wrote his own textbook so if you're having trouble completing homework, good luck going online for help.
He assigns INSANE amounts of homework, 3 hours a week. it ruins the class. also he has his own textbook so you're learning completely different things compared to other classes. the amount of time and effort put into this class is insane, and his TA's grade the homework so meticulously that its hard to get a get good. however he is a great guy.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This is the worst professor I have ever had and he made me hate my life for an entire semester. Attendance isnt mandatory but if you want to even have a shot at passing you have to go to every class and take thorough notes. Theres so many things I can say about this horrible man but the 350 word count makes it impossible.
The absolute worst professor at UD. If you are reading this I promise you do not take this course. He is a terrible teacher and it is his way or the highway. UD should fire this guy immediately. He can go back to his dairy farm and continue writing textbooks there but he needs to be nowhere near students.
UD should audit this class.
Bryan Crissinger is the worst professor at Ud. I CRIED after I finished his final exam. I worked so hard in his class and I did so much homework. The homework is horrible, it takes about 7-9 hours to complete. Bryan Crissinger assigned homework EVERY SINGLE WEEK! He is not willing to help me when I ask for help. He DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!
Law enforcement should audit this lecturer .
this professor seriously made me lose my mind. save yourself.
run hide fight.
Had to withdrawl. Does not answer emails. He gives online assignments that uses software that is super hard to use on macbooks. Gives no way to contact TAs for assistance. Gives no extra credit. Grades hard. Homework assignments were long and took so much time. He also wrote the textbook.
This class is by far the most time consuming of my semester I spend at least 5+ hours on each assignment. Grades homework on correctness, no grade forgiveness, doesn't take attendance but if you don't go you will not do well in the class. Also requires you to buy a textbook he wrote.
This class is an absolute slog. Assignments take hours to complete, with no grade forgiveness. The professor's textbook is required, and the online homework software is a pain, especially on Macs. Unstuckstudy AI helped me get through the tough material, but I don't know if I'd take this class again.
In the most respectful manner, Bryan Crissinger was an extremely hard professor and unless you excel in Statistics it will be difficult to get a good grade. He uses a textbook that he wrote himself so literally all of the work is subjective to him making it impossible to get help outside of class unless it is from him personally.
The professor is very knowledgeable in this topic. He understands what he is teaching and he os able to rely the information well. There are a lot of quizzes, but completing the homework are very helpful for preparing for the quizzes. Overall if you spend some time on the work you can learn a lot.
the textbook you have to get is written by him and has multiple mistakes and is very hard to follow. i don't know if it is just this professor or statistics in general but i genuinely hated every moment of it and wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. if you have to take him i am sorry but mentally prepare to teach yourself the whole course.
This is objectively the worst professor that you could get for stat. You will be required to pay for a textbook that he wrote (wonder why), and the textbook is hard to navigate and filled with errors. He is known for an extremely unrealistic workload outside of class, and it is all graded based on correctness. This class will hurt your GPA.
Hmmmmmm. About 100 amazing ratings and 100 awful ratings. Almost as if someone added a good rating for every bad one.
Nothing good about this professor. If he's your last option, genuinely skip it and take the class the next semester with a different professor. You would think that these types of professors would get weeded out by the school but he hasn't yet.
He was awesome! Very friendly and always willing to chat before and after class. You can tell that he really loves stats and will help you if needed. You definitely need to go to lectures because he writes notes on chalkboard and there are no slides but he is the best!!! Would absolutely take him again.
The lectures have numerous mathematical errors and misinform students. Students correct the work presented during the class. There is no quality assurance or accountability. Take these credits elsewhere.
Should be fired
I would never take this guy ever again
Crissinger was a great professor. It seems the bad reviews come from non-statistics students. His lectures are clear and understandable, and the textbook is really helpful. My only complaint is that quizzes and exams are the only factors towards your grade. This can make it difficult to keep your grade up.
THE WORST HUMAN ON EARTH
This guy sucks
Kinda nice guy but just terrible at teaching. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you miss one lecture you're screwed. He loves what he does and gets caught up in how much he likes it but he just isn't good at explaining it to people who have no idea what is going on. Gives you no help exam wise. Do not take him if you can.
Not a great teacher for this class. Never had a more boring lecturer, never responds to emails, grades extremely tough. You will fail this class if you miss more than two homework's and don't pay attention to the lectures for the entire class. Messes up in his formulas a lot. I would never take him again, take online for 200, nice guy though.
Be prepared for whisteblower retaliation if you make a complaint against this lecturer. The lecturer is incompet in lecturing statistics and inability to convey statistical concepts is a hallmark of this lecturer. I hope the Delaware Department of Higher Education flags this staff member.
Bryan is a great person and a caring teacher, genuinely wants to see students be successful. The exams are fine as long as you do the practice exams and put effort into cheat sheets (1 3x5 notecard per exam, 4 notecards for final). HOWEVER there are no less than SIX hours of homework each week. Textbook (written by him) can be very confusing.
Does not respond to emails in support of sstudents asking for help.
