He assigns too much work.
This course was CTS240 online. Professor Deehring is very clearly knowledgeable and teaches for several schools. His assigns include in-depth lab reports that can be challenging.
Great Prof! Demands a lot of writing and researching but learned a lot and would take again.
Its obvious he is knowledgeable about the material and will give further explanation to help student grasp material. You have to put in the work for the grade but you gain a lot of knowledge along the way and it prepares you for upper level classes or work outside of school. Would recommend
Good teacher, actually gets back to you and cares, tough class but fair grader.
Professor Deehring gives good feedback, is accessible outside of class, makes the class laugh, assigns some papers, and is a fair grader.
Prof. Deehring is great! If you want a Professor who is knowledgeable, accommodating, caring, understanding, quirky(in a hilarious way), and will challenge you, then Prof. Deehring is your guy! I learned a lot in his course and enjoyed it! The most challenging part about his course is the most rewarding! Be prepared to work for the grade you want.
Class is mandatory for finishing. Do NOT wait until last minute to do labwork, these things can and will easily eat from 4-10 hours of your time.
Great prof have a clear sense of purpose. Dedicated and a great communicator.
Despite the above-average course load, the material matches this line of work. The scope of the learning box your are placed in extends well beyond the typical classroom, as research of this nature requires using such sources. His emphasis on reporting is a crucial distinction from other courses as compressing security concepts can be challenging.
Professor Deehring's course is high maintenance, to be sure, but I personally believe that anything easy is seldom worth doing. To succeed in this course, you will have to become knowledgeable on the material and that's a good thing.
I think Professor D is a good teacher. I think he really thinks about what he wants to present to students and he makes time for their needs. He hears out your concerns. Lots of hidden opportunity for extra credit. The only thing that is hard to gauge is how much he wants you to write about something.
Great lectures, even though its best to have read before class, he keeps the concepts and learning objectives simple and clear. Able to help with any topic-very in-depth knowledge of the material. Although many assignments come from labs they are not very difficult and you will be able to learn while using the software.
He's great to work with, open to student opinions and good to bounce ideas off of. More importantly he knows how far to explore topics before rounding back to continue the course. If you show interest and contribute every class, you'll have a good semester with him.
Terrible teacher. Not willing to go the extra mile for his students. Assumes that you know everything when he is the teacher and he needs to be teaching.
This class was moved online due to the pandemic which was not as congruent as my other core classes had been in the past. By far, the institution is packed with truely awesome teaching talent, but the electronic medium is such a struggle to connect the book material to the lecture/labs online without an instructor to watch and learn from.
I am taking the online-only section of Prof Deehring's CTS-240 course. Prof Deehring also has 2 other sections with scheduled lectures (via Zoom due to COVID), however allows online-only students to dial-in which was very thoughtful. I've enjoyed his teaching style very much, including use of external (non-textbook) resources and hands-on labs.
Very unorganized. Changes syllabus weekly, usually by adding more work that was not previously there. A lot of work considering how little he actually provides insight. Reads from textbook, as it is heavily relied on in this class. Habitual late-grader, so be prepared to wait 3-4 weeks for assignments to be graded.
Overall great professor, Funny at times and explains and answer question asked by students
I really enjoyed CTS240 with Professor Deehring. He has a casual lecture style that makes it feel more like a conversation, which helps teach the material. The labs are good, and while there is a fair amount of homework, it isn't busy work; it's all designed to help you learn the material.
He's a cool professor and makes class fun, not good at responding to emails
Professor Deehring is very knowledgeable and knows what he is taking about. His class is not a joke, you will need to pay attention. The labs are complicated but can be figured out with research. He will help students when they need it but since it is a 200 level course he will not hold your hand through it unless its a hardware problem.
This was an online-only synchronous class with weekly lectures. The lab reports took a great deal of time and were confusing at times but if you put forth the effort you'll do well. The lectures were great and Professor Deehring made sure to go over the most important topics from each chapter (with some humor).
Professor requires a lot of work but you do learn from what you do, offers re-doable tests to practice for each chapter quiz. Read the book and you should be fine.
overall a great professor i would definitely recommend
If you can handle discussions, quizzes, short answer quizzes, and a formal lab due every week then this is the class for you. There is a lot of reading. Not enough time given for quizzes (example, 14 questions, one of those questions has 10 multiple choice questions in the one question itself) and you have 10 minutes to answer all of it.
He responds to emails in a timely manner, no matter how late you send them. He also makes the expectations in his class very clear in the beginning.
Need more learning of material through professor, not through books.
Professor Deehring shared a wealth of knowledge which he used extensively to provide students the tools that he knows will be used in a practical environment. He forces you to research certain information for labs and assignments which is a good thing for preparing students. He just needs to work on grammar and spelling in his class materials.
Great professor with providing detailed explanations to what the course material is used for. He really does make you work for the assignments though. When he said "Follow my instructions", it's not a joke. The provided lab assignment format really is a crucial thing to follow in order get a good grade.
I enjoyed the lectures and Class well put together.
Professor Bryan Deehring is a great teacher that you need to take in the Cybersecurity program. His course work is challenging and tailored to reinforced your understanding of cybersecurity concepts. Deehring is very knowledgeable in his field, and every lecture is entertaining, yet informative. I would love to take another one of his courses!
The class was alright, it wouldve been better if we were in class though. Im more of a hands on learner so I feel that I wouldve had less trouble if we were in class actually.
Takes textbook language and normalizes it for students.
Professor Deehring has been one of my favorite professors by far. He is a lot of fun and knows how to take the course material and make it relatable for the student to understand how everything works. Prepare to laugh a lot too.
Great prof
Very good professor for this class. Lectures were fun and informative and the overall class was an enjoyable experience.
He is a great teacher, and willing to answer all questions until a student understands. The midterm and final were difficult, that's why I got a B.
I took the online CTS240 course. Professor Deehring gives his students a lot of opportunities to succeed. Definitely stays on top of us if he sees us falling behind or missing work. Great teacher, really enjoyed the class.
This is a professor who doesn't hide what they expect from you- you'll be working! But communication is key- he's very good about extending deadlines as necessary, and treats you as a person first- a perfect grade means nothing if the student is suffering, and he seems to get that entirely. As a capstone to my degree I'm satisfied.
The labs were the most difficult part of the class, because it was outside of the box thinking.
Enjoyed the class. Learned a lot. Professor was very knowledgeable and made class interesting. It was a difficult class and you definitely need to stay on top of the material.
Know the definitions in the textbook, pay attention in class, and keep up with the work. Highly recommend.
Professor Deehring definitely makes you work for a good grade, however in doing so you actually learn way more, and each subsequent class after is a cakewalk.
I have taken both CTS 140 and CTS 240 with Professor Deehring! I give him high marks in the area of knowledge on the subject matter in the classes he teaches. I have fully enjoyed and learned a lot from him. He loves to challenge you with the lab reports he assigns but it is amazing how much I retained and learned when doing them.
Class is not meant to be easy, if you go into it with that mindset and ready to work you will be fine! Get an understanding early on of what Prof. D is looking for in lab reports and it will be smooth sailing. If you think you have a valid point about something grade wise, voice it, he enjoys the dialogue and will consider why you deserve points :)
Don't listen to the "ghost stories" about Professor Deehring and his classes. Does he like work, papers and labs? You bet. Manage your time wisely and as but as long as you LISTEN, CARE, AND PAY ATTENTION, you'll love the class and succeed. Always available, fair but firm, super knowledgeable, and just a great instructor.
This is the second class that I have taken with Professor Deehring and both were very positive learning experiences for me. He challenges you to think outside the box which promotes a logical thought process. His lab reports were labor intensive but definitely help to prepare you for real world experiences in today's job market!
His grading is tough but fair. Sometimes felt as if work was over my head but I enjoyed the class.
Did an online class with him. He is very fair and straightforward in grading if you complete all the assigned work and read the textbook you won't have a problem. the only thing I didn't like was the lab reports and that is because I hate writing. but he gives a lot of time to get it completed and answers to questions via email.
I almost never got email responses. Didn't help with any questions I had at all.
he was a pretty cool teacher went out of his way to keep the class well informed by adding links to external sources that were related to the work we had for the week.
The labs, and reports are important do not slack off and leave yourself ample time to complete the course work. Be prepared to troubleshoot!
Professor Deehring is one of those professors that is more laid back in class and fairly understanding. Overall, the course wasn't hard, just a little time consuming on some of the longer lab activities. I would sign up for another class taught by professor Deehring.
One of my favorite professors.
This was a completely online course. The course has a few labs where you have to do lab reports that are pretty detailed but are realistic of the real world. Professor Deehring is available for feedback or any questions that you may have and is responsive. He also knows the material really well and can break information down. I would take again.
Bryan Deehring was an effective, light humored, and supportive teacher during class time, though getting a hold of him outside of class took some time
He will make it clear what is expected of you to pass the class, lab reports will be detailed, provides real world scenario to certain topics
Gives good feedback and is approachable. This class has a lot of work, but the difficulty is reasonable.
I can't say that I don't like him, but he is more of a good teacher than a great one. Maybe it was because of his lectures, it just wasn't my cup of tea. It is sort of a lot of information and to me it seems that he is rushing through it without going through it thoroughly. Make SURE you read the textbook, it has everything you need to know!
Professor Deehring was one of my most enjoyable teachers! He was honest from day one about the heavy weekly work load but did more than other professors I had at helping his students stay on track. The amount of work though forced me to learn the material instead of just doing the assignment for a grade. Give your best effort and you will do well!
The course was moderately difficult but it was expected since it was an advanced level but the instructor provided adequate instruction and resources to supplement the textbook. He was also responsive to email inquiries and welcomed online students to participate in his live classes.
Required class but if you want to do technical writing, this is your class. The teacher is extremely knowledgeable but you better be able to figure a lot of things out on your own accord.
Extremely advanced technical class compared to the other tech courses at AACC. Get comfortable with trouble shooting problems by yourself.
Professor Deehring was great! He was very clear on what needed to be done to do well and was always there to answer any questions.
Professor Deehring sets expectations with the students about due dates and is consistent with a delivery format.
He's an amazing teacher hat shows his passion for the cyber field. if you do your work and use the resources your should be able to pass. if your taking cts 240 beware there are labs that require you to write down your steps of doing the labs.
Professor Deehring is an extremely caring teacher, if you're willing to put the effort in then so is he. CTS 240 is VERY writing intensive so be warned. But the writing is justifiable, as the cyber field will have you writing reports (just like in this class) as part of your professional life.
Professor Deehring is a good teacher. Was super helpful with assisting me. The course can be very stressful as it is loaded with content that you'll have to sometimes re-read over and over to get it to stick. Labs take time to complete (especially ones that require a full report), but not overly difficult. Read the book and you'll be fine.
He usually has a unlimited chance module quiz before the actual one, so it prepares students for the actual module quiz where we only have one shot at it. This year we didn't have that, so that was kind of a bummer. He's pretty chill though, a professor you can relate to. Makes lectures less of a chore sometimes.
he has good sense of humor. I took this class online so I didn't get to have a traditional classroom experience. His lectures are intensive.
This class was very enjoyable. Labs provided hands-on experience with topics that were being taught during the class. Prof. Deehring is very knowledgeable about the topic and is very helpful when it comes to questions about course assignments and expectations. I would highly recommend this course.
Great teacher, labs take a lot of time so just make sure to start them early.
Professor Deehring is great, read the book!! A few lab reports so be prepared, if you don't read you won't make it.
Very good professor, would highly recommend taking any of his classes
Lots of information given for class and a lot of work but gives you a better understanding of material.
Was alright with me being late on pretty much everything without hitting me with penalties. I have a trade school 2 days of the week plus a full time job, with 2 kids as a single father. I was almost always late with my lab work. He can be a bit odd with his zoom meeting but still a great teacher who is happy to help you.
Great teacher, he is cool with late labs . Feedback on labs are helpful.
Fun professor. Only downside is grades take a while to update and show.
Great
Professor Deehring is extremely knowledgeable and can answer any and all questions you might have. The workload can be overwhelming so make sure you are good with your time management. I really enjoyed this class from start to finish!
Professor Deehring is very laid back and helpful. Gives lots of homework and labs but the assignments are not usually too hard, I would recommend taking his classes.
Professor Deehring is very knowledgeable. His class wasn't very difficult, but it wasn't easy either. There was a solid work load every week and I fell behind numerous times. However, he is very responsive. Every time I would email with questions or concerns, I would get a response within 24 hours. But, be warned, the lectures are VERY long.
very fair and respectful
Uses great analogies time to time in lectures, and adds pre-recorded videos that might help with labs in some modules. Labs don't work out as planned sometimes. May need to change commands or use different systems.
This Professors CTS240 course was the toughest course I have taken thus far at AACC. It was an enjoyable and extensive learning experience, but it does however require you to participate in class discussions using critical thinking, as well as working in groups to complete lab assignments.
If you keep up with your reading and ask questions you will be fine in this course. If you don't do well on an assignment he will reach out to you ad give you a chance to fix your mistakes. I took the online course but the professor gave us the option every week to join in on his zoom sessions.
Professor Deehring is clear with his instructions but gives alot of homework. Labs are expect to be 5-6 pages, which labs are weekly. Group labs are required for the last 4 weeks of school. Some of these labs, you will not be able to pick your partner or group.
Helpful and available , I highly recommend this professor
A lot of homework so make sure you can manage time effectively. Very good at explaining the topics of this class and fostering a great learning environment.
He is a chill professor.
His labs are informative and give security experience. Class is pretty fun.
Professor Deehring is great. Personally, I liked his homework as it was engaging and taught me many skills. He was very understanding of my situation and helped me as much as he could.
Informative. Knows the subject.
Very good professor, only down side is a lot of lab reports to do for the class.
Prof Bryan is awesome and gives a good explanations
Professor Deehring was an awesome professor with how he handles his class work and students. He tries to make the class entertaining while trying to push us to do our best. I would take his classes again.
Honestly, I am kind of sad that I won't have the opportunity to be his student anymore. On the bright side he has encouraged us to reach out to him in the future for any and all questions that we can think of. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the class work and made an effort to make each class engaging and exciting. I thoroughly enjoyed class
Prof Deehring was super pumped about helping us succeed. He's open to conversations on general IT stuff.
Very informative and in-depth knowledge about subject. Eager to teach about this field and very engaging. If you have any questions regarding the class, Professor Deehring will be able to answer.
Sometimes he assigns difficult quizzes and some weeks piles on lots of work that makes it difficult to keep up if you're taking multiple classes and working full rime
He is a pretty chill Professor. He is very good and open when it comes to asking questions so do not feel discouraged ask all the questions you want.
Professor Deehring was a very knowledgeable and helpful teacher. A clear grading criteria and spaced out deadlines made all the difference in handling course workload with other classes.
Prof Deehring is a good professor, he is quite knowledgeable, and helps in guiding students.
Everything was on point. I learned so much from him.
Fantastic professor
The professor is clear on his grading of assignments and is clear with expectations from day one. The class is pretty interesting and reasonable work loads except for the lab assignments can be a bit long and drawn out. The group labs are luck of the draw depending on who gets placed with you. Other than the labs, the class was great.
Not much hands-on involvement in the online course I took, it was mostly just doing labs that have obviously existed for quite some time. Professor was good, all I could ask for.
A good professor. My class was online. There was a lot of tedious homework that really didn't accomplish much as far as teaching is concerned. He's supposedly a much better teacher in person.
I enjoyed taking this class because it gave a realistic perspective of what cyber security is really like. Professor D. has a lot of real world experience and tries to make the course relatable.
This professor is tough but fair. I enjoyed this class! If you are taking this class for the end of your degree plan I would definitely suggest this professor.
An excellent professor who introduces challenging material in an easy-to-understand manner. This course was taken online so direct interaction with the professor was not common unless requested. The amount of homework could be quite large if you are taking multiple 4-credit courses, but it is manageable.
I'm currently finishing up my fall course and I wish I had more time with Professor Deehring. Yes, there will be some weeks when he assigns a lot of work where I might find myself reading up an hour a day. But he has an expectation for his students and I believe he truly wants his class to succeed. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Had this instructor before. Great to work with and understanding with struggles. Would recommend learning again in the future.
This was an online class, so he really didn't have to do much besides give us a little blurb each week about what we were to do for that module. I didn't really interact with him during the course of the semester due to this being an online class and the syllabus was easy enough to follow that I didn't need much interaction from him.
Really responsive and super nice!
He was a great professor
I took this class because I had to for credit. However, I did learn a lot and found myself enjoying learning about ethics. It was challenging at times- part of it is because it is all online. But Professor Deehring did a good job of updated his students on what to expect next throughout the course.
The labs are scary at first, but they will help you learn, plus help you to learn how to search for answers on your own and it is extremely rewarding once you figure it out. He is also aware of how heavy they are and always gives enough time to do each lab as well as being helpful when you are stuck.
Professor Deehring was amazing. I had no complaints about his class he was always helpful when I needed assistance.
The professor was very helpful when needed and explained things well.
Prof Bryan helpful and available to reach out when needed assistance on homework or assignment. He also was flexible in his teaching approach.
This professor was one of my favorites at AACC. He is very knowledgeable, and I hope one day I can have his kind of IT background. He is also funny; I have attended some of his online lectures. He can be a little challenging, and the workload can be heavy, but I would retake this class because I learned a lot.
I learned quite a bit in this class, the professor rarely had the chance to respond to questions but he still assisted us the best he could. I enjoyed cloud computing and using Ubuntu the most.
I learned quite a bit in this class, the professor rarely had the chance to respond to questions but he still assisted us the best he could. I enjoyed cloud computing and using Ubuntu the most. The lab reports the professor assigned really helped me learn along with the group projects.
Professor Deehring has to be one of my favorite professors at AACC. He's obviously very knowledgeable and experienced in his field and enjoys what he does. His feedback is always insightful and clear and the instructions for each lab were always easy to understand. I would recommend Prof Deehring to anyone interested in IT!
very good professor!! he is very nice and a cool dude. his class was fun and challenging, but not extremely difficult. highly recommend for anyone taking cts 140
The concepts were outlined clearly. Large number of quizzes and tests. This was an online course that was clearly organized and communicated.
Pedantic yet unorganized, somewhat friendly, does not hold himself to the same standards as his students, not recommended.
This Professor is not only a caring individual, but his class is very clear and concise. There was never a moment where I became confused over the material or what my objective was. Despite taking his class outside of my major I learned to understand cyber security on a deeper level. I am very thankful that I took his class.
I highly recommend Professor Deehring as I had a positive experience with them. Free text and video materials were provided, ensuring access to necessary resources. Assignments were graded on time, giving me timely feedback. The class wasn't too difficult with clear and helpful instruction.
As long as you read the textbook, do some of your own research, and follow the lab report template, you'll do well.
very knowledgeable in the field and is very helpful if you're interested in the field of study. lots of work but you learn alot.
Professor Deehring provided great feedback and was always available for questions.
Professor Deehring is exceptionally knowledgeable in his craft. Although tons of information, he presented in different formats (links, .ppt slides, vides, book). This helped tremendously because if I didn't understand one explanation, I was able to see it from another point of view which was very helpful. He was responsive when needed.
Great teacher. Helps alot and answers emails regularly
Professor Deehring is great. He is accessible, helpful, and friendly. The course was clear, the assignments matched the lectures, and grading was fair. I would recommend others take his class.
The professor was prompt with his grading, the PowerPoints were easy to read, and the quizzes covered what was taught.
All around great professor. If I could have Bryan as my professor for EVERY class - I certainly would.
The class was simple and straightforward. As long as you read the material each week, it was impossible to fail. He provides additional readings, videos, and powerpoints on each topic as well. I don't think this class was worth the money - it's very much a topic you could fully learn yourself in a week, but that's more to do with AACC.
Decent class. It's an online course so I did not expect much. Lots of reading.
Prof. Deehring always assigned enough reading to understand the topics and was clear in grading requirements.
Professor Deehring is pretty good, I took his CT1-194 Online Class. He gives clear instructions, so as long as you read the textbook, and complete your work on time you should be good.
Professor Deehring was awesome, this was definitely one of the least stressful classes I had. He assigns plenty of material to understand the topic thoroughly and gives good feedback. Participate on time and do the readings and you are good to go.
Professor Deehring was very clear with the instruction required to complete each assignment. IF you do the required reading and engage in the discussion you should have no problems in his class.
Professor Deehring kept this online course fun. Sometimes online courses can get boring very quickly. I also liked that he made announcements reminding us of upcoming work due.
Prof. Deehring has excellent communication skills. Whether it's help with homework or general advice on academics and careers, they are friendly and always ready to lend a hand. Their dedication to student success is further demonstrated by their availability for office hours and prompt email responses.
Professor Bryan Deehring is a remarkable educator who excels in demonstrating care and earning respect from his students. His commitment to their success is evident in his teaching style, and he has a reputation for being a professor who goes the extra mile.
Discussion style is not like typical discussions. You must reply to others on two different days which is kind of stupid. Other than that the class is fairly easy if you need/want free credits.
Really great, can't wait to take him again!
good professor very streamline and helps when you have questions
I enrolled in the Cyber Ethics & Information course, which was a shorter version of the regular course. Professor Deehring was an amazing instructor who made my life easier. The workload was manageable, considering the course was only 8 weeks long. We even had a less stressful week before the final exam.
This professor gives out a good amount of assignments but everything is explained in detail. Overall very good professor.
Really easy class, all the grades were tests/quizzes and some discussion.
Homework is easy, and the quizzes are easy if you use the textbook
Professor Deehring is very organized. All assignments were easy to find, with lengthy, detailed instructions that made is very clear what was expected from each assignment. The powerpoints and lectures were great resources and provided clear theory and understanding of the topic at hand. I would 100% take another class with Professor Deehring.
Really enjoyed his class!
If I could describe Professor Deehring in one word it would be communicative. He was always open to questions or emails. Every week, there would be an announcement about upcoming work. If I emailed him, he got back to me within 24 hours. He gave a lot of quizzes and the discussions were helpful in getting a firmer grasp of the material.

Very knowledgeable and Understanding
If you actually do you work you will pass. Don't wait until the last minute to work on labs as some might take a little long to complete.
I personally think this is an interesting class if you are a computer science major.
I would say this is one of my "harder" 200 level classes but I was able to complete my assignments with no issue. Maybe save this class for a semester that you have a lighter workload though because they are many assignments due each week. Overall I thought he was very knowledgable/passionate about this class & answered questions in a timely manner
A bit heavy in workload but I learnt something. I recommend Professor Deehring.
Professor Deehring is a very well rounded instructor. Excelling at quick response time for questions and fair grading.
This class was pretty easy and interesting. There is a lot of resources and power points that can help you get an A on all of your assignments.
Classes were short and to the point, overall very easy and fun course.
Professor Deehring is very good with making sure you will understand the material. He makes alot of jokes while lecturing which makes it more enjoyable. if you stay up to date on the material the course is fairly easy.
I like the way Prof Deehring teaches because it's not like giving a cookie to a child it's about learning on your own but leaving crumbs along the way to teach yourself by researching and actually understanding the material. I would research a lot and read/watch videos to understand the material. In terms of the lab, please do it ahead of time.
He is a great professor and quite honestly better then the other people that teach this class. If you have a lot of just life things going on and get behind on your work, just communicate with him he's pretty lenient.
Great professor who gives extra time if you're struggling on anything. Course was straight forward and easy if you read the material.
Great teacher!
He provides great grading criteria, you know what is clearly expected of each assignment to get full credit. He provides great material that helps you learn and achieve success within this class at home.
He doesn't really teach anything. It is basically just reading from the textbook and watching Youtube videos. Also he is very hard to get ahold of, however he is very nice and responds thouroghly. I would take this class again as he gives an "A" fairly easy and there was not much work besides a few quizzes and discussions.
I have taken two classes from Professor Deering one in person and the other completely online with no class times got A's in both classes. The in-person one was way easier than the online one he is pretty tough with grading lab reports but he gives you extensions every time if you ask. If you just put in a few hours of work the class should be easy
Well organized and easily approachable via email and canvas.
This professor explains that this class will take a lot of effort so it is important to be prepared for the course. His emails clearly explain what is needed in order to pass the course. It is important to study and take the class seriously. Overall, this professor is pretty good! He responds fast to emails and shows that he cares for his students.
Deehring is a great professor. He makes his expectations and the criteria clear for all the assignments. I enjoyed the course and learned a lot. Please consider with this class that your grade is a reflection of your effort. As long as you make an effort, manage your time, and reach out to the professor when you need help, you should be fine.
Maybe it's me but I do not like his teaching style, if you want to call it that. Very little teaching or explanation basically taught myself by viewing YouTube and other sources. This was an online course that included group projects which were unnecessary. Feel like I wasted my tuition taking his course, but it was mandatory.
Deehring's course is a mixed experience. Unclear grading and a heavy workload present challenges. Still, the professor's passion and intriguing content make the effort worthwhile. In summary, a visually appealing, intellectually stimulating class with drawbacks. If you're up for a challenge and love the subject, it's worth considering.
Compared to when I took 140 online with Deehring, this was a bit more challenging. This class is defined by the Labs, and some of these are done in groups. The labs are ok, but they are a bit dated and at times not very clear. If the labs are updated/reworked, then I can see them being great. Bonus points for proving extra credit opportunities.
Made life really easy in class and made some of the most confusing subjects easy to understand
no comment
he always made lectures fun and interesting. he jokes around and uses examples and analogies that are interesting and easy to understand. he's also very understanding and will give you a fair chance.
I really enjoyed my Cyber Ethics class with Professor Deehring. His instructions are clear, he is always ready to answer questions and grading is fair. It is important you read the textbook. There is a lot of valuable information you will need in order to succeed. I would absolutely take this class again.
Professor was very helpful and graded reasonably. Was overall a great class.
Professor Deehring was always accessible and ran a super smooth online environment that didn't feel overwhelming. CTP-194 is a very reading heavy class, be prepared to sit down and take lots of notes from just the textbook.
Very chill. Class is pretty easy just need to do your work. Organized.
Prof Deehring was great! He is a very cool laid back teacher who is very understanding, cant forget funny. As long as you do your work, you will get credit for it. He may grade late which he apologizes for and allows you to take your time on work. Over all great experience!
Overall, one of my fav proffesors I've had at the College. Always willing to help and super chill about due dates. However, the course material can be hard at times so I do recommend studying quite a bit.
I've heard great things about this professor, however the semester I took he seemed a bit disorganized. For instance there was a time where team labs were due and no teams were assigned. Everyone emailed the professor, but it took him a week to respond to any of us. Thankfully the situation was resolved without penalty, but it was very stressful.
This professor is very chill he is very nice. If you need help with anything he will help you right away.
The professor was very chill, and the class is easy/manageable if you make sure you are on top of the labs you get assigned every week.
He provides very clear instructions and has very clear grading criteria.
He provides very clear instructions and has a very clear grading criteria.
That you should take him I think he's great.
Assignment that have depth and actually set you up to learn the material
get ready to follow instructions
Hes great, loves working with his students and makes the work interesting.
prof deehring's lectures were fun compared to other professors. he cracked jokes and had comedic analogies for things. grading was fair but late a lot of the time. overall good professor
Very nice professor who gives new students lab report assignments that while tough at first, allow you to prepare for future jobs that involve writing lab reports.
Amazing professor I've had him for multiple classes. The only thing is it can be hard to get a hold of him outside of class sometimes
Great professor, definitely a class I looked forward to attending. Very accommodating to students' time and learning needs. Be sure to email him sooner rather than later, responses take a bit. All in all, he is very knowledgeable on the subject matter, is able to explain it well, and will give you a push in the right direction if you get stuck.
He's a great professor and details the assignments thoroughly, so you can fully understand how to complete them. He also provided extra resources in addition to the textbook like videos and slides to help you gain a better understanding of the coursework.
Clear guidance on assignments. Great to take online.
amazing
Professor Deehring's CTS240 class was engaging and challenging. He provides clear instructions and feedback, making the material accessible. Using unstuckstudy AI and the textbook helped me stay on top of the assignments. Overall, a rewarding course that prepares students well.
Overall good professor on top of things.
I would recommend him. The syllabus is very clear, organized, and helpful, making the learning experience enjoyable and effective.
Great Professor
Professor Deehring is an outstanding teacher who provides all the resources needed—and more—to succeed in quizzes and actively engage in class discussions. He clearly outlines the objectives, so as long as you put in the effort, you'll do well in the course.
Very clear instructions and reading materials. I always felt I had everything i needed to succeed within the class and the grading was very fair and clear on what to work on. Overall very good instructor and I would have loved to take him in person.
He is very understanding and willing to help with any issues.
Professor was great and understanding, I would say the only downfall was the assignments can be lengthy so extra time set aside for the labs is needed, however if you were ever stuck or needed help he was always there for you. I would definitely take more classes that this professor teaches.
I took this class as a hybrid course and Prof. Deehring was a good instructor. Once a week, we'd meet for a lecture and he'd assign us some labs that weren't hard to do. You can retake the labs until you get a perfect score. The quizzes are simple as long as you read the material and look at the resources he provided. Overall, 10/10
Prof. Deehring was a great instructor who had a good sense of humor. You could retake the labs until you get a perfect score, and the quizzes are multiple choice as well as easy. I don't know if he did this with other classes, but you get extra points for being on time to class. Overall, 10/10!
Honestly has been one of my favorite classes. I took the hybrid class so I would attending class once a week and he kept the class interesting by incorporating real life scenarios from his line of work. I enjoyed the fact that he didn't just read what was on the power points he actually explained everything.
He provide plenty's of reading materials to help you understand the assignments. His modules on canvas are well align and organized to help you understand each topic. He make sure I understand the assignment when I reach out to him and he make sure I understand thoroughly.Especially someone like me who has ADHD, has comprehend a lot in his course.
He is a pretty cool professor who will introduce you to many new things. He is very understanding and makes the material easy to understand. He is always open to questions and may even ask you some to make you think.
The information was straightforward and easy to access.
Very chill and laid back professor, but don't let that full you! Great guy!
Low maintenance class.
Professor Deehring took the time to break down difficult topics so the students could better understand them also he responds relatively fast to emails but is a little slow when it comes to grading.
He was pretty good, make sure you pay attention to your dates of due dates
Professor Deehring is a great instructor, he was one of the only instructors that talked about real world experiences when it came to cybersecurity.
His class is fairly easy, but very lecture heavy. As long as you complete the work, you will get a good grade.
He is a good teacher but most of the learning comes from the textbook, he would just refresh and go further in depth on the subject.
Great professor that is respectful and very knowledgeable of the material he teaches. He gave great constructive feedback on the lab reports. My only gripes are that his due date announcements for the class often conflicted with what the Canvas due date calendar said and he was slow to respond to Canvas messages a few times throughout the semester.
Hes very nice and doesnt give alot of work but when he does they are kind of long.
I thought I was not going to get anything out this course and was taking it for the required credit but this was an interesting class that I put time in to learn that helped with my other classes as well. Prof. Deehring put together a good course that actually makes you want to learn, while gaining information that you will use in the future.
Fair grading, appropriate level of difficulty, clear instructions for assignments.
He is a great and professional Professor, he challenged me to a level I did not know I have. I learned a lot thanks to him.
I took an Asynchronous class with professor Deehring, so I didn't get to know him very well, but from the emails he sent and the support he gave, he seemed to be very caring and supportive.
This professor is a strict grader but the class is pretty easy as long as you do your work.
Solid Teacher, Main reason for the Low Score is that the Material in the book is Archaic and Vague. He attempts to teach new topics with Dated information. Gotta give credit where credit is due, hes a nice guy and is easy to follow in conversation and easy to get along with. The whole class needs a refresh. Expect test questions to be vague.
Read all the material as it will be on the quizzes and for discussions respond to 2 classmates. The videos are very helpful
No complaints about the professor, made an online class fun, simple, and understanding. Would definetly take him again and recommend him to others!
The content of the course was good and the readings and assignments were thought provoking. There were some issues with Canvas: there were instances of broken links, miscommunications related to due dates, and sometimes the structure of the course on Canvas made it difficult to find important information.
Great professor! Most assignments consisted of discussions and quizzes which are simple if you dedicate some time to reading the material and responding meaningfully. While I personally didn't have too much interaction he posted weekly check-ins & course objectives weekly which helps provide a good view on what's to be expected. Overall great class
This professor was great! The course can be quite rigorous at times. But if you stay on pace, you will do just fine.
Prof. Deehring was very accommodating to my many technical issues that I experienced taking these labs & gave me alternative labs so that I could still get a grade on the assignments. Very kind and he is very knowledgeable about this course. 10/10
they were a vary good teacher
Professor Deehring is a very laid back and great guy, he's very helpful and funny.
An overall nice, humorous, and knowledgeable teacher. In class, he explained and presented subject information in a way that is clear and without additional fluff usually seen in textbooks. For assignments, due dates are lenient, but you have to make sure you understand the content from the book, provided slides, or the lecture.
This was my second time with Prof. Deehring and both times I had nothing but great things to say. He is hilarious and keeps you engaged in class even for someone like me who does not like talking a lot. Lectures were informative and he frequently related it to current events.
Professor Deehring is a fair grader as long you show up for class. His class lectures are engaging and interesting. His sense of humor helps which keeps you awake in class. I would definetly suggest in takinf Professor Dehring's classes. I Look forward in taking his CTS 240 advance security fundamentals this 2025 fall semester.
I really liked his knowledge, accessibility, clear expectations, and real-world experience.
This is my second time having Professor Deehring and I couldn't be happier. CTS-240 was much more challenging than the last class I had, especially with how demanding my FT job became during the semester. Prof. Deehring is understanding and works with you, allowing you time to submit your work. Just keep the line of communication open.
Unimpressive. Not interested in mentorship. Essentially could've read the text and self studied and gained the same information. No original lecture content provided (this was an asynchronous completely online offering).
I enjoyed taking this class; it's very test-based, but if you study and do the work, it's easy to keep track of.
He is a very nice and laid-back professor. He is also accessible outside of class, and as for the quizzes, just make sure you read the learning materials, and you will be fine.
Very funny and down-to-earth. The lectures are pretty chill and there is a manageable amount of work.
This is by far the toughest course I have taken at AACC so don't take it along other heavy courses, but Professor Deehring was very approachable with questions and guidance. He is always responds to inbox questions within 24 hours and was punctual with the weekly assignments and grades.
Professor Deehing makes this class easy to pass as long as you keep up with the work and follow all of the instructions on the rubrics, would take again.
Bryan Deehring treats his class as if they're adults going into the workforce. No sugar coating is done, but he lays out everything you need to do to be successful in this course. The work done in the class helped reinforce all the concepts being covered. He is a great professor and keeps things relevant.
During the online course, it was extremely organized and easy to navigate, and the work was challenging at times, but it caused me to think outside of the box. The lab reports were the most difficult part of the course, but weren't impossible. It was great technical work using virtual machines. Professor Deehring was great.
Prof. Deehring was a great instructor. His teaching style was a bit different in comparison to the previous online classes I had. However, this was a good experience for me. The lab reports were challenging and time-consuming (important to work on them since day one). Last, make sure to read the chapters thoroughly to pass the quizzes.
The class was online which was a plus. This particular class was graded heavily towards the discussions. I think the professor provided plenty of reading material. I would say it was a good experience.
Very upfront about the course and course materials. Rubrics were provided and ample warning was given for anything requiring it.
Very chill professor and all his assignments were straight forward and easy to navigate.
I really enjoyed the hands on labs.
Good solid class. Fair amount of work Flexable with lab deadlines.
Great professor engages with the students and answers you when you email him a question.
Preps you for real world reports. Fair grader and provides feedback.
I took a fully online class so I didn't have that much interaction with him, but he's relatively chill! The class is very straightforward- assignments are always due on monday. All the work is done in CompTIA (labs), and then you have a quiz per module, primarily based off the textbook. Very consistent/organized which is nice.
Clear and timely assistance, excellent course.
Class discussions were lively and relevant.
He made the material easy to understand and was very attentive to his class and students.
Nice guy. Responded promptly to e-mails regarding coursework. Course pacing was manageable.
Mr. Deehring was very straight to the point which is great. He wasn't there to waste your time; he wanted all work done. If you had any questions he responded fairly quickly to clarify. He checked in every week with every student to make sure everything was going smooth which was great. Would definitely recommend this course and this professor.
Class wasn't difficult and everything is straightforward.
Even though I took this course online, Prof. Deehring was a good instructor. The quizzes had multiple attempts, and all of the material could be found within the textbook. He also is just a nice guy and gave advice on the labs without the class asking.
Very helpful professor. Nice and communicative. Never had any issues and the work wasn't too difficult. Would have this professor again.
This teacher is knowledgeable, approachable, and committed to helping students succeed
Highly recommend.
A good professor to have and would recommend to learn from him
Professor Deehring provides a substantial amount of reading material for discussions, labs, and quizzes. For me, the quizzes stand out the most because they strengthen cybersecurity and IT skills, reinforce critical thinking, and genuinely deepen my understanding of the material.

Good. That's all.
Easy to communicate with. Expectations are clearly outlined.
My teacher explains the material clearly and in a way that is easy to understand. The lessons are organized and simple to follow. When I have questions, they answer them calmly and helpfully. Overall, they teach well and make the class comfortable to learn in.
Amazing professor. He explains the material really well and has amazing communication skills. Very nice and fun as well. I would highly recommend!!!
Great Professor, modules are set up well. Just make sure you do all discussions and respond accordingly, not many grades in the gradebook so you have to bring your A game and be attentive. Don't be like me and forget to respond to peers on discussions.
Prof. Deehring's course are always well organized, and a lot of fun if you are interested in the topic. Very responsive to emails and provides you with enough resources and information to complete your task. I've taken Prof. Deehring for two course now, and would most definitely take another.
Prof. Deehring was a very knowledgeable and caring teacher. He understood when assignments could be too overwhelming all at once, and was understanding of my situation when I was on vacation. Would recommend to anyone else who would want to learn about this subject. Thanks again!
Great Teacher, he was very clear on the grading and assignments.
Deehring is knowledgeable and responsive. He assigns a lot of work, do not underestimate the time required for this class. Quizzes and exams are timed strictly, study thoroughly for them. He is a fair grader and will provide solid feedback, but be sure to put aside time for his class.
There were only just 2 group projects.
Professor Bryan is an exceptional instructor who demonstrates strong professional abilities in the classroom. Their teaching style is clear, organized, and engaging, making complex concepts easy to understand. They use real-world examples and interactive discussions to reinforce learning, which keeps students actively involved.
Instructor is very professional.
This was an online accelerated course but Professor Deehring did not overload us with work just make sure you plan ahead to stay on top of discussions and readings.
Make sure you get all assignment done on or before due date.

Professor Bryan has an excellent understanding of the subject and a style of instruction that makes the information clear, interesting, and relevant. I think the course gave me a strong foundation, and I value the order and clarity they provide for every assignment.
Really chill professor, do assignments on time and put effort into work and you'll be fine.
Good at communication and doesn't ask for too much.
Good communicator, doesn't ask for too much.
Very good Professor modules are aligned correctly, respond fast, answer questions, and are very caring, making sure you understand the material, going the extra mile. Just wish this course were offered in person, since that is my personal preference, but since COVID, more people want to take online tech courses even after the pandemic.
He is well qualified to teach everything the class covers. Every week he had 1 lecture where he covered 2/3 of the week's content. He made the lectures interesting and could answer questions you had along the way. He was also up to date on current events related to the class and would incorporate them in his teachings.
