He is a great professor. He made the class way more fun than any Econ class should be. I just added him to this website to make sure if anyone looked him up they signed up for his class. He is by far the best professor I have encountered at UNT. He has very good reviews right before the exams and the exams are not hard if you go to class.
He is a great professor. He is very helpful and adds humor to his lectures. If you go to class and do your homework you'll make a good grade. Seriously try to get him as your prof. if you're taking macro or micro.
THE BEST EVER!!!! his lectures are helpful for the whole tests
He was a great teacher. While I already liked econ he made the class far more interesting than I thought possible. Homework was fairly easy and test were based off of the homework. Everything came straight out of the book.
2 WORDS, TAKE HIM!
He's there for his students.
Awesome professor. Class is easy if you try & really entertaining. Loved this class. Sad he doesn't teach summer micro.
Seriously, this guy was the best teacher I've ever had. He is very animated and funny. Made learning the material interesting and drilled it into your head without you really knowing. He is a prime example of what a good teacher should be. He is what other teachers should aspire to be like. Take him at all costs!
He is my all-time favorite teacher that I've had so far. He made the class so entertaining and fun. I skip a lot, but I never skipped his class because it was so interesting. He obviously cares about his students and will work with you as much as possible. My only complaint is that he doesn't teach upper-level economics classes!
He is very approachable if you need to talk to him about class notes, material, etc. The material is explained in terms that one can grasp even if you are not a finance major. He makes class fun and is down to earth; he speaks loud & clear. I highly recommend him!
Great professor! If you attend class you will learn a lot and do well on the tests. He's a funny guy and makes economics interesting.
This Prof is awesome. You will learn everything you need to learn unless you actively try to be worthless. He's hilarious, and in a way that you actually remember and get what he's talking about. Wish I had taken him for Micro as well.
Excellent Professor. The best I have had. I had a Monday night class. At 9:00pm he would have the class no only awake, but paying attention and learning. One time when describing how trends change and affect demand, he pulled his dress socks over his slacks and ran around the room! Take economics with this professor. You won't regret it.
He's absolutely awesome! I have him at 9 am and I seriously recommend having him as your first class, because he will wake you up and just put you in an awesome mood for the rest of the day!
Best professor I've had at UNT. Hilarious and animated, genuinely cares about each student and will go out of his way to help you if you let him know. I've taken him for both macro and micro and you will be disappointed if you take anyone else. Economics tends to be dry but he just has a gift in making it interesting.
One of the funniest teachers I've ever had. Makes Economics interesting. Exams and quizzes are straight from the homework, he drops half of your homework grades. Super nice guy, really wants you to do well. Even in a 9 am it was an enjoyable class!
He has a fun and creative way of presenting the material. You'll definitely remember the concepts IF you go to class. Assigns homework in advance; gives you the opportunity to have it checked at the economics lab prior to turning it in.
supper energetic. Alot of energy in this class. you will learn as long at you come.. trust me you want to come to this class its supper entertaining. Also if you do not like going to class its ok.. as long as you read the workbook and do the homework you should be able to ACE this class no prob....... i just went cuz he is really funny
He's really good at making complex theories or econ laws easy to understand. He cracks me up every single class and makes it EXTREMELY easy to do well. His pre exam reviews are pretty much the exam. You'll actually learn and get a good grade in this class with minimal effort.
This guy is super funny and outgoing. You will not be bored and he teaches you everything you need to know.
TAKE HIM!! Easily the best professor I've had. Goes over everything you need to know multiple times, and is super hilarious. He is insanely knowledgeable on economics and I look forward to his class.
He is AMAZING. My absolute favorite professor. He knows economics isn't everyone's thing, so he tries really hard to make it interesting. He uses lots of analogies, and will always be very helpful. He hasn't come to class once with a bad attitude. Hands down, do your best to get into his class. Even if it's a morning class, it is well worth it.
He is a great professor. He makes the information very easy to understrand. He also makes a subject that many students consider boring very interesting. He was definitely one of my favorite professors at UNT this semester. You should definitely take him.
He is great! No need for the textbook. He drops half the homework grades and one quiz. The exams are a little challenging, but nothing an hour of studying can't fix. He is very lively and very open to questions. Best professor I've ever had.
Great Professor! He always makes the class interesting and he can brighten your day when your not in a good mood. I highly recommend taking him for Macroeconomics. No textbook is required, he just uses the workbook. He drops the lowest quiz grade, and half of the homework. He constantly reviews over the content of the class, which is very helpful.
Take his class! He is awesome! He knows economics probably isn't of interest to everyone, so he makes the class fun and interesting. GET INVOLVED! Participate in class. Do the homework, assignments, and practice exams. He cant make it any easier than he does. Use the ECON Lab for help.
Easy A!! Best Professor I have ever had-- Great sense of humor. Homework can be checked at the econ lab and corrected to 100%, Tests are put on review a few weeks before exam (-final) so you know what to study but i didn't have to study.
if you pick anyother professor you are mising out! he's so funny, so energetic, so clear & understanding, lots of personality & makex economics fun! you will get a B for sure, or a guaranteed C if econ is hard for you.
Wow! He rocks! Take any econ class with him. He doesn't care if you attend, and is very understanding. Attend Lecture! He is always giving hints about tests and will often tell the class when he is about to explain something important so they'll be sure to pay attention. His assignments are easy, and clear. TAKE DICKSON.
Excellent teacher with equally excellent teaching style. Provides synthesized info, very clear and transparent. Gives fair assignments and fair tests. This teacher is a "MUST TAKE" if available.
EXCELLENT teacher who knows the materials and enjoys teaching it. His lectures are energetic and keep you focused. One of the best professors I've had so far.
This guy is the best professor I've ever had. He's funny, entertaining, and not once did I get bored or fall asleep in his 9:00am class. Goes over test well. MUST TAKE IF POSSIBLE.
Best teacher ever. Seriously.
The most skillfull professor I've had the pleasure of learning from. He provides teachings with one of the most applicable approaches to general - higher level economic thinking. I can guarantee that you will not regret taking this course if you find interest in business or economics. He is there for your benefit and wrote the course book himself.
Excellent instructor, always motivated and very helpful. Knows his stuff.
This is definitely one of the best professor's I've had so far! He has yet to come to class in a bad mood. He is always very energetic and funny! You can go to the lab and get all your homework corrected to a 100 and the wording in the textbook is just like the wording on the tests. I genuinely enjoy coming to his class and will take him for 1100!
Great, and I mean Great, professor. I don't usually write reviews, but this guy deserved it. Interested and attentive towards his students. He explains things so clearly. He's also very funny.
Great economics professor. Capitalist economic bias. Extremely funny, tells amazing stories. Homework can be corrected to 100% and he drops half of it anyway. Drops one quiz, but you must do all 5 essays and the major project. Tests are a bit confusing but manageable. Doesn't post grades on BBVista, so email him for grade checks. Would recommend.
As an adult student I have to say he is by far the BEST instructor I've EVER had!! Very engaging, makes learning subject FUN!. Wanted to come to class (9am no less)...made sure to sign up for his section of 1110 for next semester. GREAT asset to UNT!
Mr. Dickson is one of the most enthusiastic professors at UNT. He is absolutely great. There are 30 homework assignments and the lowest 15 get dropped. 6 quizzes and 3 short essays. It is hard to fail this class. Tests are super easy and similar to the ones you can view online or in the back of the chapters in the text book. Mr. Dickson is the bomb
Professor Dickson is AWESOME! I took him for Mico Econ 1100 and I would never take anyone else! Take him for Macro too! He is HILARIOUS in class. Keeps your attention. Does NOT require attendance. He is willing to help students in any way he can and totally works WITH you. Not against you. TAKE PROFESSOR DICKSON!!!!!! I can't stress this enough!!
Best professor I've had! He's very knowledgeable, but makes it fun with his energy. Very goofy, but teaches the material extremely well. Attendance isn't mandatory, but attending class will make it an easy A!
Best Teacher ever. You do have to do your work to pass but he makes the class super interesting and is really funny. I would definitely take him again.
LOVE HIM! I took him for Micro & Macro, and DEFINITELY recommend him! Hilarious and tries to make an uninteresting class fun. Class is easy as long as you do the work. I couldn't recommend him more! Class isn't mandatory, but random "quizzes" (put your name on a sheet of paper). EASY class!
Mr. Dickson is an awesome guy. I always looked forward to his class, for he makes economics SOO much fun. He's very funny and says lots of wacky things that makes the whole class laugh. Testing is easy, and so is homework. In fact, you can go to the economics lab before class and get your homework corrected.
As long as you go to class and listen to him and then go home and brush up on what was said in class then you will remember everything. Best teacher ever.
Best Professor ever. You will remember everything he explains.
He has to be my favorite professor ever. He knows how to entertain and teach well. Lectures were very fun and easy to follow. Attendance is not mandatory but you should go anyway. Gives out bunches of free scantrons too. Take him!
Excellent lecturer. Very well organized material. Clear and fun lectures. Just follow his instructions and you will do well in class.
TAKE THIS GUY . Interesting, funny, knows how to teach. If you need help, he makes it available everywhere. Good amount of readinghw that is essential but easy to understand. Build the rest of your schedule around Mr D (this site blocks his name rofl) because he really is the best at what he does
One of the best economics professors I've ever had! He teaches both Micro and Macro and if you have to take it choose his class. He gives lots of homework but only takes grades from half of it, there are only two tests and the final. You need the workbook since the homework comes out of it. He makes understanding economics very easy.
Overall great professor, goes over material more than once so if you miss a day you'll be a able to catch up. He also uses the workbook so it wasn't a waste of money.
He was awesome! His lectures are great because he's hilarious. Really should show up to class because he tells you what's important. Uses a workbook which is pretty cheap. Tests aren't hard if you do practice tests. Gives a few quizzes. Easy class and would definitely take him for macro!
Mr. D is the best teacher i have ever had. If you hate economics, which i did, take this class. He makes it fun and you learn stuff that will actually interest you. Go to class and pay attention, do the homework, and study for test and you will get a worst a B, a decent student will get an A. A lab is available for any kind of help.
He was an amazing professor, I loved his lectures and he keeps you engaged throughout the class. When you go to class youll be engaged the whole time!
He is the best teacher I have ever had but the class is very tough.
Professor D has been by far the best teacher that I have had at UNT. He is extremely funny, and anyone would enjoy his class. He breaks the material down so that everyone can get it. This class is an easy A if you show up to class because he gives random quizzes for attendance, go to the economics lab, and read and memorize the chapters.
His class is a lot of fun. He keeps it interesting for sure. The tests are pretty challenging, but that is the only hard part. The writing assignment took me about an hour to do. Homework comes straight out of the green workbook, so that will be mandatory. Go to class, pay attention, and you should pass easy.
Best class in UNT by far. He is helpful and the class is never boring. He goes to great lengths to keep the students involved. Made me think seriously about changing my major to economics.
This Professor is one of the best teachers at UNT. His lectures are amazing and you won't fall asleep in his class. The homework comes from the workbook and he provides a lab that will go over your answers and give you the right ones BEFORE turning it in(which means HW is 100 everytime). If you go over the HW and review you'll pass easily.
Okay, BD is pretty much far and away my favorite instructor I've ever had. He's definitely my favorite in the UNT Econ Department. He's so funny, full of silly dad jokes, he's not a particularly tough grader. He writes his own workbooks so you know EXACTLY what's coming on his tests. I've taken every class he offers, he's that good. Take his class.
The best teacher i have ever had. He's very funny, which keeps you from falling asleep in the lecture. He also is there to help you anytime of the day you can tell he loves to teach and he tries so hard to get each individual student a good grade in the class. Just go to class, and you'll make an A i skipped so much, and that's why i made a C:(
Just go to class and take notes. He is funny and makes learning easy. The best professor I ever had wish I could take more classes with him. You won't regret taking him.
Really funny guy. Always tells you when something is important on a test.
He's a great professor and he really makes the class interesting and easy to understand!
Mr. D is the best professor you can take at UNT. He is hilarious, kind, and generally knowledgeable in Economics so he can explain the most difficult of topics and you will clearly understand it after the hour and a half class is done. I would take him for every class for the rest of my career here at UNT if I could.
He is simply awesome i wish he taught all my classes. He tries to make class interesting. He does reviews before test and tests are easy if you study. would take him again for macro.
Best teacher I have ever had.
Brian is my favorite professor ever! He was super engaging and super clear and hilarious. His class is not hard as long as you do all the homework pages. The only book required is a $40 workbook. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the exams because he wants to see his students succeed. I wish I could take Brian for every class.
Really great instructor, Id recommend him to anyone. Everything he assigns is from a workbook but its really easy and he pulls the exams from it.
This course was rather normal in the sense that it wasn't hard nor easy. He will give out quizzes during the semester and usually takes the best 5 or so out of 8. As long as you attend the classes he will give out hints to what is on the exams. And before the final he will go through your exams and tell you what questions you have to study for.
Great professor his stories are great. You must show up to class his notes are so helpful and gets rid of the stuff you don't need to study. Pop-quizzes, but if you show up to class he will give you a heads up one class before. Tips for an A, do all homework and take to economics lab for free 100 grading. Study his notes and the workbook notes.
such an AMAZING teacher. I would love to take him again if I could. If you don't go to class, (which you should since he is great, you basically are on you're own. He gives you extra credit opts, quizzes in class, and homework that you can go to the econ lab for and receive 100s on. Test may seem hard, but only if you don't go to lecture.
One of the best professors at UNT. Very straightforward. I hate economics but I loved this class. Recommend 100 percent
He is there to help you anyway possible, and gives you multiple chances to do better with Extra credit. I would definitely take again.
He is a great guy. Loved his class and explained confusing things real well. I skipped class half the times, so I was left confused and scared so I've could've gotten a higher grade. But this guy is great! I would take him again if I had to and is hilarious with his funny storytelling.
He was one of my favorite professors this semester! He explains information in ways most everyone can understand and manages to make this boring subject fun and interesting. I would definitely take him again if I have the chance!
Bryan was an amazing professor. His lectures were engaging, and he had a nice anecdote for every topic. The class was easy, and if you showed up everyday, odds are that you will get a few free 100's for test grades. I recommend his course to all of my friends.
He was awesome. He made every lecture easy to comprehend and very interesting. His tests are not hard and also gave many quizzes that were very easy, all you had to do was show up and you'd get a 100 on the quiz. I will take many more of his courses if I can, he is the best professor I've ever had. Also, he loves old cars and trucks.
If you don't show up to class, you probably won't pass. He gives pop quizzes based on attendance. All around, amazing professor though. Super eay to pass if you just show up and pay attention.
The lectures are great and easy to understand. For personal reason I missed class a which didn't help my quiz grades but overall I enjoy his class. I would recommend even tho I did't pass his class.
I wish he could of taught all my classes. He is the best and reall gives really good examples and lectures in class to help you understand the topics. Attendance isn't required but the material is understood better if you show up. He also does reviews and goes over what will be on the test. The workbook is also really helpful.
Amazing professor! Clear lectures and will explain the most important concepts to know. Tests are fair and follow class lecture. Quizzes every class, b/c class was held once a week on Monday nights, but allows you to use your notes. Highly recommend if you want to learn and understand the material. Lastly, he is funny, so class lecture isnt boring!
He is a hilarious instructor! If you want a good laugh while covering course material take this class. He is very knowledgeable about the subject and relates it to real life examples. Tests are departmental, home work is due every couple weeks. Extra credit opportunities available if you show up.
Great teacher, made economics almost fun! He was hilarious and taught extremely well. Tests were basically the homeworks and he reviewed them right before the test so if you show up to the review and do the homework you'll do fine.
His work is very straight forward you just have to do it. Also he does not use Blackboard at all!!! So you're not able to keep up with your grade.
He really excels in particularly at lectures, they're very clear cut in regards to the material presented as well as engaging and even entertaining at points. Attendance is definitely mandatory if you want an A in order to get as many quiz points as possible, but otherwise just make sure and turn in homework and show up for tests.
This professor loves his job and you can tell by his lectures, they are always very informative, rarely boring. He also forces classroom participation to make sure everyone is paying attention at times, very funny stories and impersonations. He will give you all the tools you need to succeed, but you will still need to study hard if you want an A.
He is without a doubt the BEST professor I had during high school and college by a long shot. He is the kind of professor who is worth shifting your schedule around so that you can take his classes. His lectures make difficult content incredibly easy. And if he wasn't the best professor ever, he could be a professional comedian.
I was dreading taking an economics class, but he made it really pleasant and I learned a lot. He was fun and hilarious without getting too off topic so I was actually able to stay awake and retain interest. If you put in a little effort you can definitely achieve an A.
If all professors and teachers nationwide were like Bryan our education system would be #1 instead of #26 in the world. That's all. (the site filters his last name as "not clean" so I could not include it)
Hands down the best professor I've had in college. He makes the lectures so fun, I actually looked forward to going to class. You get homework but you're guaranteed to get all the point if you go the Economics help center and get your answers checked. Exams are easy if you do both practice exams, I definitely recommend taking him!!!!
Had to take an 8am micro principles class. Nobody in the class was excited to be there. If you participate and give him feedback when he talks, the class goes by a lot quicker. He gives you all the homework up front and due dates, exams are just like the practice exams in the workbook, and he tells you what questions will be on the test.
Attendance is not mandatory, but the best part of this class is his lectures. He is so funny and makes economics fun! Do the homework as it is good prep for the exams. Although the test are tough, he offers extra credit and pop quizzes if most of the class shows up. Would recommend him to everyone!
TAKE HIM!!! Best professor I've had. Told myself I will never take another night class. Made an exception when I saw his name. Hilarious and cares about his students. I passed with a C, but would have made an easy A if I actually studied. You have weekly homeworks that could be checked at the econ lab for a guaranteed 100 every time. Awesome guy!
Best teacher I've had probably ever. I wish he could teach all my classes.
Makes the class SO enjoyable. Homework- go to lab. Even the workbook was okay, and only $40. (yeah only, bc it was the cheapest book that year). His lectures are important. One BIG project, you need to start ahead of time. Only flaw, his grading. You've got to keep track of your own grade. I got a C, and I'm still think he's a good prof. Bc he is
Professor D is the best teacher I've had in college and in high school. I just transferred to UNT and I hope all my future profs are at least half the teacher he is. He makes the subject exciting not just the first day but throughout the whole semester. Take him, you will not regret it!
Great teacher. He tells you what you need to do right at the beginning and you could realistically get it all done before its due.
Bryan is one of a few professors I ever had that actually made class worth going to. His lectures are incredibly easy to follow and he makes them enjoyable through his wit. Watch out for his tests though they can be tough, but he gives you all the tools to do well.
SUPER FUNNY GUY!!!!!! make sure you do all the side homework! Tests can be a little tough. He tends to go off topic but it helps so class isn't so boring. JUST TAKE HIM! YOU WONT REGRET IT
One of the best professor I've had. Keeps lectures interesting by acting a little crazy but its funny either way. Homework due almost every week but it can be checked by the ECON help center so 100's are almost guaranteed for that. Tests are not difficult if you just pay attention during class, takes notes, and study (even a little) before tests.
Just take the man, you won't regret it. Also buy the cookie he gives out at any price, even if he says its $20 you can take it for free.
I took his 3 hour Macro class and it wasn't as bad as I expected. He simplifies the material from the textbook really well and reviews for each test. He's animated so class isn't laborious. Homework is due about every other week but can be checked for 100s in the help center. There is a quiz at the end of every class but they are group work & easy.
Best teacher at UNT is an understatement, this is the best teacher in the world. I have econ 3 hours at once, and we still find a way to learn efficiently and have lots of fun doing so. Everyone loves him, you can't hate this guy. His so funny and entertaining, so kind and respectful, and also such a great professor. Best, choice, ever.
Great professor of ECON. He tries his very best every time we have lecture and tries to convey his examples in real world examples to have a better understanding of the material. Always ready to help you if you were stuck on a question. Would take again if given the chance.
I would take him again. He explains everything in so much detail the homeworks can be a breeze. I only read about 3 chapters out of the 14. He taught really well. There was a quiz at the end of every class but he went over all the material beforehand (basically extra credit). You only need the book for homework. If you pay attention exams are easy.
I love his lecture. It is funny and he often includes real life situations pertaining economics. If you work for this class, you'll pass. Make sure to attend this class.
Just a quality professor. Attend the lectures, and you're halfway there to ace the test. Do the homework and you're about 75% there. Review the material and you've got an A.
study outside of class, go to all the lectures, get your homework checked and you will do great! He is so nice and funny & he made me really enjoy economics
The rumors are true, he is a good professor. All exams were copy/paste from the quizzes and the homework and other assignments balanced out the grade. Final is optional.
Great professor! A professor would an actual sense of humor. If you need to take ECON take him ! Do not take the other professors, hes one of the best and youll actually learn something from the class thatll benefit you
cool prof. def go to class for easy grade boost. do all the assignments, not too bad.
Took him for ECON3200 online for 5 week 1. Very few assignments, just short discussion boards, quizzes based on the reading, and an easy final. All books could be found free online, use Ctrl F and you're good. I didn't expect the class to be as interesting as it was, almost wish I took it during a regular semester. Super nice guy, good feedback.
The professor is very helpful. There are a lot of homework and few quizzes and exams. Overall a great professor and a great class. The only flaw was that we needed to get Tophat separately for assignments.
Dr. Dickson's class was very good overall. Good video lectures and he's very easy to get a hold of when needed. Only thing is that the Top hat homework can be heavy at times. He is also willing to give extensions if you reach out to him with a VALID reason. Other than HW, there are 3 exams and 6 quizzes that's it. Not hard, would def recommend him!
Professor Dickson is the best, the class was online where you mostly did Tophat assignments. There were 3 exams and an optional final, professor Dickson provided good explanation videos and was there to answer any questions you had. If anything went wrong, he had no problem finding a solution. Great guy.
Mr. Dickson is easily the best professor I've had so far. He cares about his students and will answer any question you have about the topic he's teaching. He's also very willing to work with you so you're able to get the best grade you can.
He is one of the best Professor I ever had. I always enjoyed his lectures and he made economics really fun and interesting with the way he taught.
I took this class in the summer 5-week session and it was super easy, he class consists of reading a couple chapters of some books, taking a quiz on them and the participating in a discussion. If you really wanted to you could easily finish the class in a week or two. The class is not self paced and does have due dates but you can work ahead.
Take him! Take him! Take him!!!!!!!!
His lectures were always super informative and funny. Never a boring or useless moment in class and super easy if you do the work and pay attention.
Easy to understand lectures. Recommended not to skip the class, because if you missed the lesson it would take you time to catch up. This is a very easy and interesting class!
He's a super nice guy and regularly makes the whole class laugh. He's really passionate about what he teaches and wants you to get it so don't be afraid to email him or ask questions. The class is exam-heavy and they are moderately difficult, but they're pretty similar to the homework and reviews so just do those and you'll be all set.
He's a super nice and funny guy. He's really passionate about what he teaches; he gave great examples and explained things clearly, which makes economics so easy. Personally, the material wasn't that hard, and quizzes and exams are based on what you've learned in class and based on the homework, so study them well and you'll be fine. Take him!!
I took this class online, and i found it incredibly easy to navigate and i greatly appreciated all the recorded lectures.
He's a great lecturer and if you pay attention in class, read the textbook, do the homework, and review the quizzes, you'll do a good job. He's funny and the examples he presents are easy to understand.
Took this amazing prof for macro & micro. He cares about his students and the material. His lectures are entertaining. I love the layout of the class: 4 exams (if you do well on the first 3 you don't have to take the final), and the homework is due in chunks so you can work at your own pace. I only wish I had more classes I could take with him!
Mr. Dickson was literally the best Econ prof. I've had as a first year. He's extremely personable, funny, entertaining, and most importantly, fair. The textbook was attached with the hw and as long as you read the TB and did HW, there's no way you could fail. He even had practice exams which were very similar to the real ones. Recommend him 100%!
Easy A taking him online. I really appreciated him allowing us to work ahead in the course. I would do a module in a day or two and not have anything else due until a month later. I enjoyed his class and most is simply reading and doing discussions, super easy and allowed some creativity. Great guy, excellent course layout.
Amazing professor; he makes the material so easy to understand and makes the lectures not so boring. Textbook also helps a lot in my opinion. Favorite professor so far.
Is like if Jack Black and Robin Williams were one person, and a professor, in the best way. Really great at teaching; I never even had to read the textbook. Repeats important concepts constantly, and has review days before exams where he explains commonly missed questions. Sad I can't take his class again! Definitely take him for micro and macro.
Made difficult concepts very easy to understand. Super helpful when answering questions and overall just super enthusiastic about class.
somebody give this man a raise
I took off a star because it was essentially reading the textbook as our class which was boring, but I did actually learn a lot from this class anyway and it was some of the most interesting course material. I think the instructor was nice too.
Incredibly entertaining with very good lectures that cover the material very well. Class is very lecture heavy, and before exams he goes over a test review in class and answers any questions students have about said reviews.
The subject is actually so interesting that I bring it up in random conversations: great class and very straightforward requirements. Bryan Dickson is the GOAT
Looking at the good reviews, I'm confused why they are 5 stars. Not only did he YAP for the entire class about his life and off topic details, he was awful teaching. I had to go to the help center every week to figure out what I was doing. The tests are nothing like the reviews and he gives no curve on the test when the class average is failing.
You have an easier time learning outside of the class, rather than his own lectures. Exams being 75% of the grade is already a stressful enough grading scale, so when the lectures feel more like a get together, it's difficult going into class confident you are going to learn the objectives. And a crazy amount of one-off-tangents.
The best person and the best professor of economics has ever got.
The professor makes difficult concepts easy to grasp. Engaging lectures, helpful review sessions, and unstuck study make this class an enjoyable and valuable learning experience.
Honestly can't see how someone would fail his class. To be fair, I was in an experimental section of the course. His lectures make topics very easy to comprehend. Even if he does go off topic, he's at least funny. This professor really does try his best to help you pass the course. Would take him again, 10/10.
I honestly found him annoying, but it's an easy class. I recommend reading the textbook chapter & doing the homework before class. You can still get a good grade only attending lectures, but it was much easier for me to understand with baseline knowledge. Plus, it makes the quizzes a breeze. Do the practice tests he puts in Canvas.
Professor Dickson is so funny and made economics an interesting subject. He is good at breaking down terms/concepts for us to understand. I loved every single lecture and always found myself wanting to learn more. 3 exams, optional final, Tophat homework assignments, and a research paper. You can easily get a B but you'll have to work for an A.
Professor Dickson was probably the best instructor I had this semester. He goes over everything in a way that is simple to understand and actually interesting. Most of the time I didn't need to go into the textbook when I attended all lectures and took notes. Gives out practice exams almost identical to the tests. Great guy, def take his courses.
Professor Dickson is Amazing! He is the Robin Williams of economics. He is very knowledgeable on the subject and tells you what will be on the test! There is one paper due at the end of the semester and weekly homework that is a free 100% if you go to the help center. If you have to rearrange your schedule to take this amazing man, do it!!!
Dr. Dickson was great! Class is heavily graded on your exams but he drops the lowest one, meaning if you do good enough on the first 3 you can skip the final. There is a quiz every class but he lets you work with others and will occasionally answer questions if you are really struggling. He always is joking and makes the class feel alive and fun.
Lectures are amazing and very interactive. Extremely clear with understanding. I look for his name when taking economic courses.
Professor Dickson was one of my favorite professors ever. He made everything very easy to understand, so it wasn't much trouble for me to pass this class. I would love to have him again as my professor if I could. He's also really funny, so that's a plus.
Professor Dickson is one of THE BEST professors I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. I am awful at economics and I always have been, but Professor Dickson helped me understand this subject so easily and for the first time in my life I know what's going on. You should absolutely take his class!!!!!
10/10 would recommend. Great professor!
Yeah this class is pretty much a gimme, just meet the deadlines and you will do well.
Hes the coolest professor. I am an average student and I got a B. You need to attend classes as one class every week has. aquiz which you can easily get a 10/10. The exams are from his reviews. Nothing is out of sylabbus. Theres a writing assignment which is 15 percent. You have to study his reviews and write the exam. If I passed anyone can pass.
He's one of THE BEST professors I have ever had to learn from. He lets you work with each other for the quizzes, drops the 3 lowest pre-quizzes, quizzes, and If you take both exams, then you don't have to take the final! I've always been bad at economics but hes SO FUNNY, which helps me learn and makes the class less boring. 100% recommend!
Classs is easy show up once a week and you will be fine. Quizzes can be worked on as a group. Exams are like the reviews so study those. Writing assignment is easy. You can end up with a B and above in this class easily.
I took Professor Dickson for ECON 1100 and 1110. He was a fantastic professor, the lectures helped so much, he is very entertaining and loves to teach. His office hours are great help, and he really helped me improve from the first tests. The tests are nearly identical to the study guide. Use and learn the study guides.
The greatest professor I've ever had. I took him for ECON 1100 and I have no regrets. I genuinely wish I could take his other courses. He is funny, caring, respected, and really wants you to succeed in this course. He breaks concepts down so easily. Though I will say, attend lecture and spend some time on the material outside of class to earn an A.
Cares about what he is teaching and it shows. High energy guy, none of his lectures are ever dull and he explains the concepts in a way that I understood completely. Attendance isn't mandatory but definitely recommend showing up as much as possible.
AMAZINGGGGGG. Only one quiz and one assignment every week and the quiz is entirely notes and classmates friendly so you don't have to worry yourself about studying. There are also only 3 exams which are an essay and multiple choice. He's also so funny its insane he truly enjoys being there every day and it shows.
prof dickson is the goat. never knew economics was so interesting.
There is absolutely 0 bad things to say about Dr. Dickson. You will have 10 assignments to do pre class due every sunday before the new class week, and a weekly 10 question quiz. Theres 3 exams, including the final, and 2 essays you have to write. Overall, it isn't hard, and you do get some leeway if you miss a quiz or assignment. 100% TAKE HIM
If you get the opportunity to take Mr. Dickson, do it! There are weekly quizzes but they are collaborative so there is no reason you should fail any of them. Whenever it comes to his exams actually annotate your practice exam and understand because they are not exact and it is easy to not do as great as you intended.
Great professor. He is very nice and easy to talk to. His lecture also are lectures are very engaging. Your grade is made up of 2 exams and an optional final, weekly projects and online assignments, and in-person quizzes. He drops the 2 lowest project, assignment, and quiz. Exam material is based off anything he writes on the board.
