Mr. Dubin is awesome, I had little interest in politics and left the class with a much better understanding. He gave great personal and visual stories to relate to the topic. For anyone who is offended by cuss words...Grow up, obviously you should be questioning what maturity level you're at to be attending college!

Mr. Dubin is one of my favorite teachers at OCC. He has such a passion for politics that one cannot help but have a passion for it as well. I wish he taught more classes. The class was interesting, informative, and hysterical. A+ for Mr. Dubin, I couldn't wait to go to class each week. :)

Dubin is the best...Took him in the Winter this past year and he was awesome!! Yes he is a Republican, but anyone who takes offense to him not liking Dems is an idiot. Dubin is a good teacher! I enjoyed the class! his test are hard but study his notes and you will be ok. The only thing about him is that he will tell you the first day of class that if you work hard and you are close to a grade he has no problem moving up your grade. Well thats not true you will get the grade you earn. Do the extra credit it helps

Dubin is awesome. Plain and simple. His tests are extremely easy to understand and he gives extra credit out for the simplist things. He does drone on about his views and that can be a little bothersome. He always has a story to relate to something he's teaching and that's what makes it fun.

He is crystal clear on what he expects of his students, and very clear about what will/will not be on tests. Whatever he writes on the board, you write down and IT WILL be on the tests. Hardly any book useage! Easy extra credit points!

Dubin is such an upbeat, laid back teacher. And he just wants everyone to have fun as were learning. Yeah he might swear and use profanity but if you feel uncomfortable about the language he's using, just tell him. You guys are just haters on such a great teacher.

As a liberal there were times I wanted to leave during his anti-Obama rants, but thankfully I never did. Never takes attendance but tons of notes are taken every class and they show up on the tests. He was a great teacher. I never thought that I would enjoy an American Government class so much. Every class you take lots of notes but most of the test questions come out of the notes that he gives you. I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews for him he is awesome. Mr. Dubin has an imense amount of knowledge on the subject and random F bombs and other profanities kept me quite entertained. Dubin is very understanding and I RECCOMEND ANY CLASS THIS MAN TEACHES!!!

Mr. Dubin is the best. He makes it easy to learn about Gov. If you don't understand something, he will go above an beyond to help you. He is funny and truly cares about all his student and that they do well. Other Professors should taken a Dubin class in ethics and how to interact with students, it helped those who were having a difficult time.

dubin is a great teacher. his lectures are long, but he spices them up w/ his humerous personality. politics is a touchy subject, so if you cant handle people stating their opinion (as dubin does quite frequently) don't take his class. his tests are fairly easy, & lectures are mostly his stories. you have to take government, so take it with dubin

I go to Albion College and was at OCC for a year and a half and out of all the different profs I had, Bryan is the best. He is always available for help. He is a smartass, but be one back (playfully and respectively of course) and you will be just fine. Take notes on what he says not what he writes. Wrote me letters of recs, a genuinely great guy.

Dubin is really funny! Sometimes his lectures were a little dull. I got B's on all of his tests and I got an A with extra credit. If you're a very strong liberal, you will hate his political views!

He's a great professor in the sense that I heard the name of the class American Government and thought it was going to be an old man lecturing on a bunch of crap and that is not at all what I got. He's engaging and energetic. He challenges you to question him and what he teaches. He encourages you to ask "why?" and a lot of teachers don't do that!

I had Dubin for a summer session. I drove an extra 30 mile to H.L campus because I heard he was a dedicated professor. He delivered American Government lecture in a interesting fashion, lots of personal stories(most related)& sparked interesting discussions.I highly recommend Dubin. I like Dubin's class because he makes American Government as interesting as it could be. There is no book, so attendance is mandatory. He makes some wierd/personal comments towards some of the students in the class, but he's a cool guy overall. I like his political views, but it must be torture for those who don't agree because he is very blunt.

Extremely entertaining in class but knows the subject matter. Needs to lay off that Marxist stuff. He spends way too much time on Congress' pursuing majorities and not enough on the real issue - the political failure of employment policy. He should as he said of Gimpel, "go west young man" and look at China as the next critical lexicon.

I thought he was a good teacher, and he made it super easy to get an A. Tests are all multiple choice, and there's only one written assignment all term, which is done during class time. Yes, he has a potty mouth, but he stated several times very clearly, that if you are at all offended by his language to let him know and he will clean it up.

Dubin is by far one of the best professors I have ever come across. Any political science instructor who has you thinking when you leave class has done their job. He encourages everyone to research information and form their own opinions, and offers a down to earth approach to discussing the oh-so-dry government we are all afraid of.

Great professor. He doesn't use a textbook, which is awesome since books are so expensive. He makes classes super entertaining, and he makes test so they will be easy as long as you take good notes. He also offers three ways to get extra credit, you can get up to nine points added to your final grade, which is also nice.

I was in this class a while ago. I still love running into Mr.Dubin in the hall. I love the way he teaches. He relates a boring subject matter to interesting terms. I hated government before this class. I am still currently a student here, and I think that anyone who doesnt like Mr.Dubin either didnt do well in the class or is uptight.

Its been only the 4th or 5th week of class, so about 4 or 5 class peiords with him. I can honestly say the first day I hated him, I hated how his jokes went on and on. But now I can say its my favorite class. He gives you a unbiased and honest description of what is going on.

I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! Brian Dubin keeps it fair. Things will get political, but when they do stand your ground, he can handle (&enjoys) a good debate. He's amazing, works with students. I forgot my book for the final, &he gave me one of the extras he had lying around. He's amazing.

If you want an easy "A" take this class. If you want to learn about government don't take this class. You will learn more about this guy's family than anything else. He knows his stuff but, gets off course very easily.

His class consists of irrelevant information unrelated to the class. Very opinionated and closed off to others opinions. Brought up religion consistently. Used a lot of profanity throughout semester. Wasn't happy with the class. The rates on here will fool you.

I would not normally rate a professor,but I felt it important for this one. He is the most down to earth instructor I have ever have. I am in my 40's and have NEVER been interested in politics until Dubin. I must say if you cannot handle the truth then this is probably not the class for you, after all it is called political science for a reason. A+

The only grades are the EASIEST exams in the world... The questions that I got wrong on the midterm were all linked to notes that I never made up for a class that I was absent for. Half the questions are intuitive and the other half you will only know if you listen to him. I spent zero hours outside of the lecture on this class. He is very amusing.

Mr. Dubin knows his stuff! I never took an interest in politics until this class! He really stresses the importance of voting and even gives extra credit if you are a registered voter! However he does not just give out A's, you have to try! This is a GREAT class, I would take it again in a heart beat!

Show up and listen, he usually tells you if its important to write it down. Easy grade but the grade isn't what you take away from this class. It's actually learning, it's actually learning how our government actually works and getting people to vote on their opinions but know the candidates that have those opinions.

Mr. Dubin is an amazing professor. I have never come across a professor like him. He has extensive experience in his field and it makes his lectures that much more respectable. He doesn't expect you to agree with his opinions (but I would expect that if most of you want to have an intelligent conversation with him, you have to respect them).

Dubin is a hilarious teacher. You show up for lectures, write what he writes on the board, he will say if something is going to be on the exam. I never had to worrystress about this class. I hated this subject in high school, but since this class I feel so mature about it. Extra credit is offered. I was surprised with my grade.

Reading the negative comments on this site makes me angry. If you want a class like you took in high school that just reiterates everything the book could teach you then you do not want this teacher. Dubin is awesome teach who gives you real life scenarios in which to apply the subject matter. Take this class and you will actually learn something.

This is not your normal "government" class. Dubin is personable and inspirational to listen to, I guarantee if you have any intellect you will find his classes enjoyable and interesting. He approaches teaching at a different angle than most but I walked away knowing so much rather than just memorizing some vocal to pass a class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I usually hate any classes that have to do with government, but Dubin made the class more interesting and relatable. Dubin will lecture the whole class while the students take notes (which we were allowed to use on the test). He gives 2 opportunities for extra credit, a paper, and signing up to vote. The book he made us use was about $12 I think.

No textbooks. He will make sure you pass; there's really no way to fail. He gives no homework; only tests (mid-term and final). He tells you when to take notes and makes the material easy. You can use the notes on both the mid-term and the final. VERY VERY easy to pass!

Saved me from failing, super great guy

Professor Dubin, is unlike many professors. His class feels a bit like a high-school classroom; however, with a bit more elevation in terms of discussion. He's not very adamant on books and typical schedule. A lot of the class time is spent on condescending belligerence about the Democrats --distinctly Obama-- and his life stories. It's atypical.

He is one of my favorite teachers so far. I love his stories and lectures compared to any teacher I have had. I would love to take this class again.

Dubin has been my favorite professor so far at OCC. I realize some people have a problem with him because he talks about his personal life a lot, but honestly I enjoyed that. It was nice that he made the class very stress free. He is hilarious. I would be a happy camper if I could have him teach all of my classes at OCC. Easy class.

As you can see by the ratings on here and the incessant downvoting of anyone who writes a nice review of Dubin- you will either love or HATE Dubin. But fact of the matter is, this is the easiest class you will EVER find. If you can't deal w/ others' opinions then you will be miserable. I didn't agree w/ him and still don't regret taking his class.

The professor was very friendly and definitely wants to help make sure all of his students pass. He tells a lot of stories in class, but he ties them into what he is teaching. Sometimes he will randomly pick a student to help demonstrate something in class. He's really fun.

He is hilarious. He is informative. He will get you to register to vote and let you know why it's important to do so in the process. You will learn about the government and this country in ways you never thought you would understand. Don't offer your opinion on legalization though, that is a trap

Really informative. Tells funny & interesting stories that correlate with the material. Lots of extra credit opportunity. Easily my favorite teacher.

One of my favorite teachers at OCC!! All the negative comments are clearly people who don't agree with his political stances. He encourages his students to give their opinions. He is hilarious and doesn't take everything so serious. No homework, very easy and helpful with tests. Easy A. and very nice funny guy! you get entertainment and knowledge

Dubin was by far my favorite professor I have ever had. I have never been able to comprehend government, but his use of analogies made it crystal clear! He does get side tracked sometimes, but he always brings it back to the point. There is NO HOMEWORK. Just need to read a thin book. TONS of extra credit. He really cares about his students.

2 Test a midterm and a final. There was no homework. Extra credit is provided. He does have a foul month but most of us are adults. Come to his lectures and read the chapters, you will do fine. I enjoyed his class and got an easy A.

I have taken Dubin for American Government and Criminal Justice, both classes are easy A's. Yes, sometimes his lectures become boring and personal and he is foul mouthed, but some of his stories are quite interesting. He's VERY understanding, and if you're looking to pass a class then he's your guy

Awesome teacher. Focuses on important things and is extremely entertaining. I'm a night person and I look forward to going to the 8:30am class. Plus the class is only one night a week.

I'm shocked to see so many bad comments, many though are from people who disagree with his political views. Dubin has a foul mouth, but it makes class fun and keeps you listening. He has great stories that make concepts easier to understand and he genuinely cares about his students! He is one of my favorite professors!

AMAZING professor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has a foul mouth but that's what makes his so funny and easy to talk to and listen to. The class is so easy and so fun to be in. You can state your opinion without being ridiculed and he accepts every student as if it was his own kids. He truly cares about each student and is always there to help. Take him!!!!!

He's an interesting and inspiring teacher. He's got really cool and funny stories that make you realize others things that truly matter outside of the classroom. It threw me off a little bit not to stick to chapter by chapter curriculum and more what he just wants to teach, but overall a refreshing and easy class. Would recommend to anyone 110%

People that hate him clearly doesnt know how to respect a teacher like Dubin. Dubin is definetly different than other teachers but in a good way. make it intresting and ingaged.

Dubin steps away from all the power points and takes a more personal approach to the class. Instead of throwing information at you, he'll tie in the information with comical narratives. He tells you exactly what to write in your notes and if it will be on the exam. He definitely takes a different approach which makes the subject fun.

Dubin is the best! Such a fun class. I'd love to take any class he teaches.

Dubin is a great professor. He cares about his students. The tests are largely based on lecture. You do not get "from the book" education in the class. Which makes the class very fun and interesting to attend. Completely fair and reasonable. Classes often go off topic. He's a fun guy to listen to.

Dubin is great! He makes an otherwise dull subject much more fun. He's very available outside of class and eager to help. He even helped me with an assignment for another class. He's very understanding and reasonable. If you want a teacher who actually cares about you and your success, then sign up.

Once you take a class with Dubin, you get Dubin-ized. This man is a genius at ensuring we use critical thinking. He's such a dad too. He truly cares about his students and teaches in a way that ensures we won't forget what was taught. He wants us to know what's important and ensures we are successful. A great guy and perfect for US gov't class.

Dubin may not be everyones cup of tea but he truly cares about his students and will go above and behind for anyone. He definitely makes class interesting with his way of teaching and his stories will make you remember every lecture.

He is an awesome teacher, made politics interesting. Class was a lot of fun. Most people are too senstive and get offended by everything. Yes he is deffently a conservative republican. He use to work for the democratic party. I watched people try to start arguments with him and he does his research on both sides of the storys. Awesome class.

Dubin is the best teacher I have had for a government course. He makes the lectures interesting with stories from his personal experiences. I don't understand where everybody is getting "alternate facts" from, but you won't get it from Dubin. He presents only the truth and has plenty of facts to back it up. Dubin was an awesome professor! A ruggedly handsome fellow who uses anecdotes to relate to the topics discussed in class. It was clear what he required and would assign to students. Dubin was a good grader and not too harsh on anything in particular. I wish he had more courses to attend.

His class was hilarious and his anecdotes helped teach his lessons. I'm surprised by the amount of bad ratings, but I think some people are just overly sensitive to his approach. He's relaxed and casual, which in my opinion is refreshing. If you're a normal person with a sense of humor, you'll enjoy his class and have no problem passing.

There was only a couple exams, which were mostly open book! Dubins classes are lecture heavy, but always interesting and easy to follow. Love this guy, 10/10 would recommend.

Tends to occasionally stray from the topic at hand, but his laid-back approach is refreshing. Dubin has a profound way of teaching through stories & narratives. Dubin was an awesome professor (yes he prefers to be called by his last name). He's very knowledgable about what he teaches, and he has a passion for it. He is also very passionate about his students. He understands that you have a life outside of school and treats you like an equal, not like some kid taking a college course. Would highly recommend

What an awesome professor! We may not have had the same political standpoint, but for whatever he said he had a solid arguement. He is very willing to work with you if you ask for help, and it is hard to get a poor grade because it's a very minimal effort class when your taking 3 other classes. Please take him, one of the best professors I've had!

I took Dubins class as a liberal political science major and although his viewpoints dont match up, he is extremely respectful of other opinions as long as you have some. His grading was easy. There were only a couple exams and extra credit was given. I would take his class again.

Mr. Dubin is an outstanding man who understands political science and has a passion for teaching. I've never met a teacher who showed more interst in their students than him and he isn't there to spread a political agenda. He encourages students to look at the facts. He does tell things like they are and I admire him for that.

Bomb asl. One of the best teachers at OCC. Cares for his students, understands what we do and face in our daily lives. He finds creative ways to keep the class engaged in lecture and gets the point across. He's a great teacher and an amazing individual. It's hard not to like this guy. Honestly. Easy class as long as you put in the effort.

This was a great class. Mr. Dubin is interesting and very accomadative. He acknowledges that he was a student at one point and works with each student individually. He gives outstanding lectures and to do well in his class, you need to participate.

This class rocked. It was the one class i looked forward to attending and the stuff we went over was interesting. No complaints can be made.

Dubin is a great professor for POL courses. He cares about what he teaches and is passionate about polsci. Class is pretty much all lecture, you learn a lot and easy to stay awake. He offers 5 points of easy extra cred on the final grade (85% becomes 90%). Replies to emails and exams are exactly what he says they will be (easy) GREAT CLASS AND PROF

Dubin is an outstanding teacher who can open the door for you into new opportunities in the political field, and give you fresh ideas to look into what's happening today. Extra Credit all over the place and is fair with all grading. His lectures are hilarious and relatable, I recommend taking his class!

Dubin is a great guy. Very funny and entertaining and he is as clear as possible about what he expects. However, if you are extremely passionate about History or Poli-Sci then maybe take someone else. Dubin is a big talker and loves to tell stories, ones that usually aren't related to history haha. Aside from that, love this dude.

TAKE HIS CLASS - THIS IS AN EASY A! It feels like you aren't learning, but you actually are. All you have to do, is show up and listen to the lectures. He tells a lot of personal stories, but the notes he give son the board are word for word what's on the test. You get to use notes and the textbook on the exam. He also gives out some E.C.

Okay, so I could always talk about this teacher, he's honestly a perfect professor. i learned so much from his class and ive already signed up for other classes for the next semester. I don't know how he isn't 5 out of 5. He has brilliant lectures and teaches along with books. I wish we had a more zoom meetings but other than that, simple class

Honestly, one of the most humble professors you will have during undergrad. From the second you meet this guy you can understand how humble he is and how much he cares about his students. For POL-2530 his work is not hard it's like 3 papers and a slideshow. Grades nice if you get down and dirty in the work. 10/10 Professor!

Dubin is really funny. I can tell he's a righty but he doesn't biasedly grade my socialist views. You will never take a test in here. Not gonna lie, I didn't learn anything and opened my book probably twice. Assignments can be touch because topics are pretty vague, but overall if you want an easy A, Dubin is your guy.

10/10 Professor! By far my favorite professor at OCC. His class was engaging and worth the time. Funny guy and he respects his students. You should really take one of his classes (they arent hard at all) and if he thinks you are putting in the work and care about it he will give you an easy A!

I don't understand why this professor's ratings so low. By far the best professor I have taken this year. He really cares about his students and offers a ton of flexibility. I am planning to take every class he teaches at OCC. His classes are by no means hard and are pretty interesting even if you don't like poli sci.

This is an easy A. There are four assignments that are not hard and everything else is extra credit. No penalty for late work. He genuinely just wants his students to learn. I personally learned nothing but I didn't try to. Super nice guy, super flexible.

Had him for an online International Relations class. This is the type of class where you get out of it what you put into it--not in terms of how many hours you spend studying, but how deeply you think. He doesn't grade harshly, so you can make mistakes and learn from them. Good lecturer, too--easy to follow

No tests! Took his class online in the summer. You only had to go to a few zoom sessions and half the homework/projects are extra credit. A little textbook reading and more articles, watching things/essay questions. Nice guy, not trying to make it harder than it has to be. Very good at promptly correcting any discrepancies with assignments.

Professor Dubin was one of my favorite professors, I wish I had the honor of having him in person )-: I took him Winter 2020 and he addressed clear expectations. Only 3 mandatory zoom meetings, although he held extra credit sessions that he often would give you double the pts just for showing up! Very funny, down to earth, and easy assignments (-:

My man doesn't ever have a single test. All you have to do is show up and watch a right-wing propaganda movie. This is such an easy A. He is really funny and cares about his students, but absolutely is horrible at hiding his political affiliation. Take Dubin for your GPA. Don't take Dubin if you want to learn anything though.

Dubin is the best! American Gov't is very interesting and entertaining the way that he teaches it. You may wonder where he is going with his lectures as he tells many stories about his life however, he always circles back and relates them to the material he is teaching. This class I had online and I had a great fun experience taking this class! He made it fun and I enjoyed taking him!
