I had Prof. Enderle for Che2a and did not realize he is best until I have Prof. Donadio this quarter for Che2b. Prof. Donadio is caring but can't teach. He can't explain his own practice problems in lectures and confused the hell out of everyone. His MT1 is fair, but MT2 is blindsiding(even my TA thought MT2 was crazy). Prof. Enderle is the BEST.
This is my 2nd quarter with Enderle and he is still worth the hype. I thought it was around the same difficulty as 2A, maybe a little harder because the topics were all new. He does a lot of example problems with you, but once he gets you through the new material in the problem, he won't walk you all the way through, make sure you can do it alone.
DR. E IS BAE. I became more interested & passionate about learning chem b/c of Dr. E. I love his lectures & demos. Very engaging & funny person. He TEACHES you, doesnt just throws a bunch of scientific terms at you. Of course you have to put in work, but he makes coming to lecture & learning chem fun. ONE OF A KIND. The epitome of a great prof.
I had Dr. E for 2A and was bummed I couldn't snap him for 2B. However, I went to his lectures and I now I truly appreciate THE POWER OF DR. E. THIS MAN IS AMAZING! I didn't understand ANYTHING my actual prof teaches but Enderle explains everything like magic. LOVE HIM!!
All I can say is, thank gosh for that curve!! Enderle is a great teacher and pretty darn hilarious. My only tips are to make sure you make good friends with your lab partner and take your time with the online homework, go back and make sure you actually learned it instead of just trying to get it done.
The class is hard bc it's chem 2b, but Enderle somehow makes it enjoyable. The best lecturer I've ever had. Exams are identical to practice exams, so as long as you put in the work, you can definitely get a good grade. He goes through practice problems during lecture and is very clear in his explanation, and is happy to answer any questions.
Final 36%, 2 midterms 23% each, lab 10%, HW/Disc 8%. Enderle is a captivating prof with meaningful demonstrations and excellent explanations. Works tons of problems in class and has awesome readers with many problems worked out and 10+ practice exams. Exams very fair, nice curve. One note: sometimes simplifies material too much but overall amazing!
enderle is by far the best gen chem professor! take him if you ever get that chance. attendance isn't mandatory but you should go to class bc he's amazing at explaining everything. I never was enrolled in his class but I went to his lectures to learn bc he's the best. get his reader and practice exams! they're straightforward and helpful
DR ENDERLE IS THE BEST. I love him so much!!!!! You should def try to get him for the chemistry series. He is the funniest and is really smart!
Enderle is the best professor I've ever had, and UCD is lucky to have him. He is an outstanding lecturer who provides ample resources to succeed (clear and thorough reader, videos, practice problems, practice tests, demos, etc.) and somehow stimulates interest in dry and complicated topics. Would 11/10 recommend to all future chem students!
i love enderle, the best man ever!!! depending on the class, you might have a fat curve in which case will literally make you cry tears of happiness. best lecturer by far at UC davis and really cares about the material and his students.
Great dude!! Super funny. His tests are curved nicely and he always keeps class interesting with demos. The hype was true and he's the best chem teacher I've ever had
Enderle is a great choice for any chemistry class. Personally, I did not like him. He strongly recommended (required) us to purchase not only his reader, but his exam practice and solutions manual, and of course the online homework. This is a VERY expensive and VERY time consuming class. In addition, his tests are significantly more difficult.
Prof Enderle was awesome. Lectures taught all the main concepts you needed to know for the homework and the exams. Make sure to buy his practice exam reader to get like 12 of his previous exams. To do well on the tests, just do as many practice exams as you can. Be careful though, because sometimes his exams are longer than practice exams!
I have to say he's a bit overrated in that you shouldn't expect to understand chem just by doing the bare minimum (i.e. looking over the reader, going to lecture, and doing hw). Do a LOT of practice problems, esp by trying to understand why you do each step. His tests are honestly predictable if you do enough practice tests. Great lecturer tho.
Professor Enderle was awesome and the best chemistry professor I have had yet! He gives clear expectations of what to know for exams, and gives you all the tools to succeed in class and in office hours. Take advantage of the homework and practice problems he gives, they will prepare you for exams. Thank you Dr. E!
Professor Enderle is by far the best general chemistry professor here at UCD. Ive taken CHE2A-2C with all different professors and I felt that Enderle was the only one who was genuinely good at his job. Great lectures that are interactive and don't bore you to death, and you can really tell he's passionate about what he's teaching. The best!
Enderle is a great professor but his classes do require lots of work. His lectures show many examples and his reader is very helpful. Do lots of practice tests and ask TAs for help. You can get lost in lecture easily, it is helpful if you read over the lesson before it takes place. Lab is a bit of a pain but is manageable. Would highly recommend!
Enderle is one of the best professors at Davis, hands down. He is such an amazing lecturer and he really cares about his students. If you get his reader and do all the problems, you will do fine in his class. He has lots of resources! An amazing professor.
Very good chem teacher. I haven't had anyone else, but it sounds like he is the only good one. Midterms are difficult (and probably the final, haven't taken it yet), but if you study super hard or are very good at chem you are probably good. If you took AP Chem you will probably be fine. Very funny, lots of review sessions. GET THE READER OR DIE!
I loved Enderle! He helped me hate Chemistry a little less. I believe the tests were a little harder than other classes, but I'm really glad I took him nonetheless. He is very reasonable and has good pacing. He does these awesome demos and nothing on the tests really surprised me that that much. Make sure you go to lectures and get his reader.
Prof. Enderle's classes are super hard to get in, and his office hours are always super crowded, which stands for he gives great and explicit explanations to almost every questions. He respects his students and their questions, and every inspirational as he has always being.
PHENOMENAL lectures, great professor and very personable, less than 14% of you will get above a B- (that is a statistic, he grades the final letter grade using a bell curve). Just be weary, you will learn a lot and work hard, you still might not get the result you want and it could be (very) detrimental to your GPA.
Best chem professor. His exams are generally harder than the other professors, but his lectures are great and it's totally worth it. Will receive great score if participate in lectures and do the practice questions. However, be aware that his classes always have a long wait-list and are usually very hard to get in to.
100% the best intro chem professor at Davis! I was never actually registered for his class, but I sat in on every lecture since my professor administered the same midterms and final as he did. I am not good at chemistry at all, but he made me love this class with his demonstrations, responsiveness to students, and genuine care about our success.
Enderle is one of the best professors I have ever had. Go to office hours and use his reader and you will do well in the class. Just be aware that since he is such a good teacher his curve will be less generous than other CHE2A professors.
An amazing professor. Whatever clarification needed was addressed during OH. Had videos in case you were still shaky on a topic. His reader was super helpful; would recommend purchasing it. Be sure to do his practice tests!
Enderle cares about his students, is clear in his grading criteria, and patiently answers students' questions, no matter how small. He even discussed anxiety-management strategies for our midterm. If Chem isn't your thing, this class will be tough, but he gives you more than enough resources to succeed. Follow his advice and you should be fine.
Buying his reader isn't required but is very helpful as it's literally all the notes he uses to teach. Class is a mostly review from AP Chem. Lectures have a lot of problem examples. Go to his office hours and review sessions before exams -- he writes the exam and sometimes goes over the same exact problem that will be on it.
Not too hard as long as you paid attention and put in the effort. Lectures provide lots of examples that are helpful. Only attended 1 OH due to lab usually being during that time; it was super crowded as it was right before an exam. Do the homework.
He'll do mini experiments during lectures as examples of the topic. He makes lecture notes and practice test booklets you can buy at copymaxx (that I actually bought for che2b since I have a different professor now) and it's extremely helpful.
I really love Enderle! If you get the chance, definitely take him. His lectures are so amazing and engaging. He has demonstrations that really tie into what he's teaching, which was great because I had him at 7:30 in the morning. I have to say his tests were really hard but he's such a great teacher.
Dr. Enderle is probably one of the best chem professors here. He gives good lectures, and has tons of materials to practice off of. Because hes a great teacher, his curves might be a bit less generous than other professors. Overall, you really need to put in work in this class, but youll learn a lot.
enderle is a really good professor. he has a chem experiment during each lecture for visual learning. the only downside to his class is the curves for the exams. bc hes a good teacher most students do well on the exam so the curve is not as generous as other professors
Enderle is really a good professor. He has good lectures. But the curve is not so generous. Also, he has a nasty head TA named Mrittika Roy. Avoid her.
I LOVED Enderle for SO many reasons. His class is phenomenal (and makes you WANT to learn), his office hours are extremely helpful, and he, as a whole, is an amazing person. He's funny, caring, and passionate about chemistry. If you have a chance to take him please do it as it was the highlight of my freshman academic year.
Enderle's a pretty good teacher. I think he can be a little overhyped because honestly I didn't see anything super magical about his lectures, but he for sure does his job well. He's pretty funny and he has good youtube videos for when you don't understand something.
I took him for Che 2A and 2B and I love his teaching style. Wish I can take him for che 2c, but he is teaching che 2b in spring :(. The class is not easy, but if you do his practice exams and study hard, most of the questions are pretty similar. I would recommend do 3+ practice exams for each midterm/final.
In addition to his great personality and his amazing lectures, I found that his class was very straightforward to study for. None of his exams had real curve balls and it's very clear what you should know if you go through all the resources (OWL HW, Text, Practice Exams, Reader). Getting an A in the class is very doable with Enderle!
This is my second quarter with Enderle; he's a fantastic professor. Fun demos, clear lectures, dumb jokes. His office hours are helpful if you're struggling. He provides us with every resource we need to do well; his reader is fantastic. The class is definitely tough, so you'll have to grind. But, I hope he continues teaching for many years.
enderle is the best professor! his class was fantastic, the knowledge he told is clear and he is very kind and patient. i really love him
Enderle's class is difficult. The tests require for you to understand the material very well. However, his lectures are very engaging. He explains concepts very clearly and will go through tons of examples with you. He is patient and approachable in office hours and he will work with you to make sure you understand the answer. Watch his Tedtalks
If you get the chance to take Enderle, it is completely worth it! He is one of the best professors at UC Davis and is excellent at teaching. He makes class really interesting and prepares you well for the exams. He goes over example problems that are similar to the ones on his exams. His Reader and practice exams are really helpful.
Enderles classes are definitely the most entertaining of all the chem Professors, he does demos in class that are really fun. His readers are useful and 100% required. Hes a really fun guy, but a tough grader. Because his students generally know more the tests are harder. You gotta stay ahead of the curve. If you have to take chem, take Enderle.
Great lecturer, and his office hours are so helpful, although always packed. He's so patient with student questions, and you can tell that he truly cares about his job and his students. Quirky and fun, and his chemistry demonstrations are pleasant. Although some of his exams are hard and his curve isn't that great, his lectures make up for it.
Dr. Enderle is by far the best professor I've had at Davis. He is absolutely hilarious which makes it easy to want to go to class. He teaches by doing a bunch of examples, which in my opinion, makes things a lot easier to understand.
2B is not an easy class however professor Enderle was very organized and has many resources available to students for them to succeed. If you want to receive a good grade you have to really dedicate time into this class it is a demanding class because the material is difficult. The hardest class I have taken at Davis but Enderle makes it tolerable
Enderle is probably the best chem professor, but his tests are a bit harder than the usual. Great lectures, but this results in harder midterms.
Enderle is the best chem professor out there. He is hard, his exams are not easy, but he is a great lecturer and he REALLY helps you prepare for the exams. If you do all his practice exams and understand all the material, you should have no problem doing well. He is great at lecturing!
The hype is real. He is an amazing professor. The midterms and all are tough but manageable.
I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM
I think a lot of people love him for his personality and approachability! I dont think hes completely groundbreaking as a lecturer because I felt like most of the time, I had to carry myself on understanding the topic as its hard to absorb everything in the first go but overall, this class is like any other class. Bad study habitsbad grade
His lectures are really engaging and he is a really positive person. I definitely would recommend him to people who didn't like chemistry in high school because he really made me love it again. He tells you exactly what to do to get a good grade. Is it easy? No, but it is possible which is what matters.
I loved Enderle!! Best teacher ever. The hype is real. He kept me engaged during lectures. Actively take notes during lectures- don't be textin bc it matters He usually does office hours right after the lecture and it's like an open question forum. There are a couple minor extracredit things but they only matter for boderline grades fyi
He really is the best. His lectures and exam review sessions are super helpful and clear. He's also really funny and I honestly looked forward to his lectures. Midterms and final were hard af but if you study and do practice exams you will do fine. No regrets and hope I can take him again in the future.
Enderle is the best professor I've had in Davis so far. His lectures are very helpful and fun to attend (he does experiments in class sometimes). The examples he does in class are very close to the types of questions you'd find in his exams. His exams are difficult, but if you attend lecture and practice a lot you should be fine.
He not only goes through the concepts in class, but he does examples clearly in lecture. He has multiple office hours and he's easy to listen to. Explains concepts well, clearly, doesn't ramble, and answers questions. Not that much homework (minus the labs ofc) but midterms require a lot of studying. Do the pre class hws!! It helps
Demo experiment in class to help you feel the experiment nature of chemistry. His lecture is full of jokes from concepts and makes you concentrate. Exams are hard but follow the same style. Solid choice, love him.
He asked you to opt in or out the final, and the curve is good. The demo at the last lecture was so excellent! Choose him!
He is really clear during lectures and seems to care about his students and chemistry. The exams were really tough and averages were around 50-60%. I wish he was teaching 2C. These labs were super boring and repetitive.
I still hate chemistry, but Dr. Enderle is amazing! His lectures are really engaging and funny. He explains concepts really well. The class material and exams are really difficult though. You have to work really hard.
Would definitely say the class' midterms are very grade heavy, but Enderle does a great job curving and was generous to give solid grades instead of A- or B- for everyone in the gradebook.
I love Enderle!!! Best Chem teacher I've ever encountered. His lecture is amazing and he is so funny! Pick him!
Dr. Enderle is one of the best general chemistry professors, but personally I prefer Gulacar and Ochoa because they explain concepts very well. Enderle doesnt go deep into concepts but solves example problems during lectures and if you dont read his lecture notes reader, you may struggle with some conceptual questions on the midterms.
I have taken Dr. Enderle for chem 2A and 2B and I love his lectures and the ways he teach and solve questions!! Although the exams are graded heavily, he would give very curves and as long as you practice his practice exams, you will do fine!
a god amongst men, but chem is hard so gotta put in that work
If you have any control over your professor, take Enderle. You will need to put in the work, as with any of the Chem professors, but Enderle is a high caliber teacher, makes you want to learn the material, and while his class can be a challenge, it is manageable and worth it. 100% would take again.
Gem of a guy. Take Enderle every chance you get. We Stan
Enderle is the best chem professor! He is very understanding and cares about his students. Though chemistry is difficult, he succeeds in uplifting our mood by inserting his jokes and demos. Great guy! Follow his Instagram to see what you'll be expecting @enderlephd
Enderle is one of the best professors I've ever had. I went from hating Chem to enjoying most topics. His exams are hard but the curves make up for the difficulty. His reader is also amazing. Take him if you have the chance!
He makes it clear since the start, you get what you work for. Some professors dont give you the grade you deserve, but he does. His practice exams & reader prepare you for his exams. Ive never received an A in a stem class until i took his class. Perfect man. Going to miss him so much.
Enderle is an amazing person, super understanding. Chem 2b is by far the hardest class I have taken at UCD, but Enderle's energy makes the class. fun and enjoyable. He is king, take him.
Enderle is a chemistry god - amazing lectures, cool demos, and super accessible! He's the only prof I had who could do online lectures without acting like a boomer. If you have any choice in selecting professors, choose him. He also had a super generous curve - 86% was an A+! We stan the king.
Professor Enderle is amazing!!! He wants the best for his students and is the definition of fair. I wish I could take him for OChem but he only teaches the CHE2 series. Definitely take him if there are open spots.
He's a professor that you definitely want to take if you can. He makes class really enjoyable to go to even at 7:30am. Though, I will say that his class is really tough. I invested the most time to this class out of all of my classes and it was the lowest grade I had out of all them. Get ready to work really hard!!
AMAZING! He is seriously the best professor I have ever had. He made me excited about chem and explained everything really well. He's so enthusiastic about Chem and his lectures go by SO fast. He's so nice and accommodating and it shows that he genuinely cares about his students. 10000000/10 recommend
Enderle is by far one of the best professors at Davis. His lectures are very clear and he provides students with tons of resources for practice. His CHE2 readers were extremely helpful. His class gives you a good foundation for future chem classes, 100% would recommend.
I found myself excited to get up for Enderle's 9 AM lectures because I knew I was getting the best education possible with this guy. Super caring, funny, and clear lecturer. Does demos almost every day in class. Also, the book of practice tests you can buy is filled with his old tests so they exactly mimic the tests you take in class
Professor Enderle is one of the best professors I have had in Davis! He is very helpful and explains everything very thoroughly. I even used his Youtube videos for Che 2C even though he wasn't my professor (I would have failed without them). He is hilarious and is very passionate about chemistry. I would highly recommend him as a professor!
I personally think Enderle is a bit overhyped. He's funny and a very good lecturer, but also I feel like you need the reader to follow along with his lectures. Meanwhile, when I've taken other professors they definitely go more in depth and provide all the materials you need in their powerpoints. There are no "it's in the reader" moments.
He's great at pretty much everything but make sure you take advantage of all his resources. If you don't, the midterms will hit you hard. Take as many practice tests as you can, he compiles all his past tests from the past few years, so there's no reason for you to be shocked when you take the real midterm. It's on you if you don't do well
Dr. Enderle is an amazing professor. I have forgotten everything I learned in chemistry in high school, so this class was a challenge for me. I managed to pass the course with a C because his curves are amazing. I didnt have to use the textbook. I mainly used his reader and Youtube since his lectures werent confusing.
I took Dr. Enderle for general chemistry, CHE 2A, and found his lectures to be the best I've had in a while if not ever. He makes the content easy to understand and is always there to help you understand something without making you feel like you should've known. He is truly about his students and learning. His enthusiasm for chem is phenomenal.
Definitely take his class. He is very clear during lectures. He holds reviews before every exam and shows how to solve problems. You need to use the practice exams to study bc they will 100% help you. The curve is REALLY nice.
I took this class without AP Chemistry (only took chem honors before) but he made chemistry super interesting. His lectures were engaging, his office hours were helpful and regular, and he is such a sweet person. Definitely practice his practice exams and study his reader. Midterms and final are not easy but there is a decent curve.
Wonderful teacher. Made me actually love chem. Great at explaining concepts and is very clear at doing so. Jokes around too. I would be actually happy to go to class. Tests arent too bad if u do lots of the practice exams. Even though lectures are recorded would recommend going synchronously. Wish I could have him for 2B but the class was full.
Prof Enderle was literally such a clear and wonderful professor to have. His lectures basically follow his reader, and I strongly recommend reading+taking notes of the sections before the lecture and attempt the questions he posts in canvas. This helped me just listen to him during tlecture and see if I had any confusion. Exams are difficult though
Best teacher ever! Class is hard b/c its chem, but his lectures are so clear compared to other teachers I've had. Even when I didn't have him, I was going off his reader. If you do bad on a test, your grade is really based on the average not the actual score you got, which helped so many students. He's also really funny and nice too.
Dr. Enderle is a great instructor who cares a lot about his students and gives really clear and easy-to-understand lectures. Even though I was in a large class of several hundred students, I never felt alone or like I couldn't reach out to him or to TA's for assistance. His reader for the class was a life-saver, it's a great studying tool.
Enderle is amazing! I had him for 2A and 2B and I wish he taught 2C as well! Labs and homework are pretty easy. Grades heavily depend on tests so STUDY! He has a lot of practice exams which are pretty similar to the real exams, so as long as you try and study, you should be fine!
By far the greatest professor I've had at Davis, you can tell he really cares about his students and puts his all into teaching.
I feel bad because i took this class spring 2020 when the pandemic first hit and he was also adjusting just as much as we were, but I did not enjoy this class. I found it extremely difficult and it was just not a good experience for me. He is very hyped up and I was expecting more ):
Chemistry at Davis is very, very hard. There's no getting around this. I had Enderle for 2A & 2B during corona time. He provides a reader that's like a condensed version of the textbook. You can 100% get an A in this class by not reading the textbook & only the reader. He is an EXCELLENT teacher who is very thorough & makes this tough course better
As everyone else has said, he's truly a legend! I took him my first quarter at davis and had a great experience. His exams were hard, but he explains stuff well and gives lots of resources for you to do well. I actually enjoyed going to lectures and lab. I liked this class even though I don't like chemistry :))
Exams are too tough. The average is below 60%. Curves, but still very stressful.
The bandwagon effect is a psychological phenomenon in which people do something primarily because other people are doing it, regardless of their own beliefs, which they may ignore or override.
His classes are hard to get into because he is such a great professor. I don't like chem, but he made it interesting enough for me to get through it. He has tons of resources for his students and is super friendly and helpful. If you get the chance take him.
Dr. Enderle was a really great prof. 2B has been one of the most confusing classes I've taken yet and Dr. Enderle did a really good job breaking down complex concepts and did a lot of examples. Additionally, Dr. Enderle just made lectures engaging and enjoyable.
EXCELLENT prof. Must take if you can! Though many my friends tell me it is hard, it is not that hard. Interesting demo during lec! His own lec notes and past test book are super helpful! Be sure to spent time on them before test. Homework don't take much time, but lab/discussion do take some time.
Dr E. is passionate about Chemistry. He provides lots of example problems during lectures with Demos that are interesting. The class overall is engaging. The exams are little bit hard though. The labs are long and boring, but can get over easily. The HW is easy. If you take notes, take practice exams, and go over the reader, you will succeed!!
Such an amazing prof, he was so good at explaining things. I hate chemistry but he made it tolerable. I would recommend reading the enderle reader before class and doing a bunch of practice tests. He had an amazing curve too. I wish I could have had him for the entire chem series :(
He is a very good lecturer. However, you're at a disadvantage if you don't buy his reader. Lots of hw that doesn't really help you - the only way to study is to do practice exams over and over. It was probably just the difficult content, but I hated this class. Curve is fantastic though, thought I would get a D- but ended up with a B. (spring 2021)
Great professor but exams were terrible!! I had to study way too much to get an average score because only 50% of the class will pass. Coming from someone who got an A, the work was not worth it.
Great teacher but his tests are absolutely insane. Homework is doable but his tests are nothing like the homework, and he asks a lot of trick questions on the exams. Exam's don't explain why you got things wrong. I've seen the other teacher's exams and they're ten times easier. Don't take a harder teacher for the same class credit!
Enderle is an AMAZINGGG lecturer. He really cares about his students and his lectures are super entertaining (especially the demos). The midterms and final were pretty rough, but as long as you do a lot of practice problems and just put in a lot of time studying you are sure to pass!
Phenomenal teacher but dont be fooled by the other reviews. Just because his lectures are amazing does NOT mean that you can get by with lectures alone. Do the practice exams!!!! Read the reader!!! Do not get caught off guard by the pace of the class. Good luck!!!
Dr. Enderle is not just a great professor, but also a great human. He connects with his students and is always available to help out. Yes, this class is demanding, however if you put in the time and go to office hours, you will not regret it.
Definitely one of the best lecturer I ever met. Teach with passion and his readers notes are also extremely helpful. Exams are inarguably difficult, require very solid understanding of the course materials and intensive practices. The mighty curve save us all.
An AMAZING lecturer and professor. He explains things really well and provides many different resources to help students. However, his class is extremely test heavy and exams are very difficult. Expect to put in a lot of time outside of class to do well. Out of all the chem professors, Enderle has the hardest midterms.
hardest class of my life but enderle is great. i spent 10 hours per day studying leading up to exams and still failed the 2 midterms and final. watch enderle's youtube videos and go to his office hours or the TA's. i was always lost in lecture. he goes really fast, but he is thorough. i had to rewatch every lecture 3x each to understand. my 51% C
While good, I do not think he was the right one for me. While he tries to make lectures fun and provides a lot of resources, those resources are not exclusive to his class. The exams are difficult and heavily graded based on a rubric that I found unfair at times. Beyond that, lectures are largely just math for 1.5 hours. No key notes or slides.
Enderle is a great professor but has an EXTREMELY hard class. I was recommended to take him but my advisor as he is popular but I would advise not to. His lectures are meant to be "fun", only goes over general topics, not useful for the hard exams he gives. Take the other professors if you only took gen chemistry in hs as they stick to easier q's
Dr. Enderle was great, and he wants to help students learn. Lectures are informational if you come prepared, he provides a lot of resources. Midterms weren't easy, but if you put in the work to study you will do well. Office hours are amazing, go even if you understand things. He's also very nice, and will learn your name if you introduce yourself.
Funny and VERY ENGAGING. Sends lots of information in the beginning of the quarter to make sure you're prepared for his class. Attend lectures and review the Lecture Reader (!!) in order to succeed. Labs are tedious (esp post lab) and so is the online homework (usually 2 hours but may fluctuate). Grades curved at the end of the quarter.
The class wasn't easy, but Dr. E provides plenty of resources for students to succeed. He offers online review sessions (hosted by HIM) before each of the midterms and final. He answers questions during lecture (even with 500+ students). Labs can be stressful but if you come prepared, no problem. His practice exams were super helpful for studying.
Focuses on working through examples, but goes so fast and doesn't really review much from high school. For me, homework was necessary to understand what was going on, and discussion really helped and the midterms were pretty hard. Curves are godsends. For the love of God to more than two practice exams per midterm/final.
Super engaging and hilarious professor and he kept lectures interesting. Briefly explained topics then spent most of lecture time doing examples which I found helpful. Provided a lot of outside resources to prep for exams
Best professor ever, I'm only sad because I can't have Dr. E for 2C. If his class still got space, don't hesitate to register. Super clear with his lecture, and even if you got behind for some reason, his office hours are very helpful. I had Dr. E for both 2A and 2B, and I attended 95% of the office hours.
I didn't pass but he was great! Definitely a difficult class, although he was entertaining to have, I felt he briefly introduced a topic which left a lot of the learning to the students. This class is very dependent on how well you can study and keep up with the work!
Very hard class but greattt professor. Makes failing worth it to have him again
BEST OF THE BEST
He is overrated on rate my professor. Even though he is a great guy but his tests killed my grade everytime. His reader and practice exams were helpful but his tests are still very hard he tricks us in every exam with tricky questions. If you wanna save your grade don't take him!!!!! take another professor.
Tests are hard!!!!!!! Don't do it to yourself! Take another professor
He makes his tests very hard. You have to have an excellent background in chem otherwise his tests will be really hard. Prefer taking another professor if you can
Absolutely loved Dr.E! He makes chemistry so easy to understand. Although the class is dependent on exams, make sure to do the OWL homework ahead of time before he teaches it, use both his Lecture and Exam Readers, suggested homework, and do the discussion worksheets.
Enderle is a really good professor but he tends to just go over the main idea versus go in-depth and sometimes it feels like he skips steps without explaining them properly which can leave loopholes. He often does experiments during class but his tests are really really hard since he makes them extra tricky.
Had him for 2A&B. Best professor I have had so far. Managed to get a B in 2A and an A in 2B w/o much chem background bc of the resources he provides (OH, readers, etc). Awesome lecturer. Exams can be difficult compared to other professors, but the curve is godly. Wish I could have him for 2C.
Great guy! Tests are pretty fair imo, if you study well then you’ll be okay! There’s a lot of resources to study & the workload isn’t anything unusual for intro chem. 2 midterms & 1 final. His reader really helps a lot & a great study tool! Curve for exams & at the end. Take him!!!
Dr. Enderle is a great lecturer and a swell guy. he keeps the class engaged with mid lecture demo experiments, and is very organized. His tests were on the harder side but the curve was fair.
I'll miss both Dr. Enderle and my TA. Curve probably saved me from failing. Despite my grade, I did enjoy what I learned from the past two quarters (mostly). There's nothing I could say that hasn't already been mentioned here, but Alice if you're reading this, I wish I could take you for my CHE002C section!
Chem is hard (and test-heavy) no matter which professor you get, but like everyone else says, Enderle is great.
If chemistry is not a subject you are best at then avoid Enderle. He will make you feel more and more discouraged, he has a tendency to point out that half the class excels in chemistry and the other half " has no idea what is going on". The "optional" reading material, controls the course material. Teach YOURSELF.
Enderle is a really good professor, he definitely lives up to the great ratings. His tests are very conceptual such as asking why something happens or giving scenarios about what could happen. However, his lectures don't really go into that, his lectures are more so solving the "how" not the "why". He's hilarious but exams are nothing like lecture
His ratings are great for a reason; Dr. Enderle is an amazing professor. His lectures are thorough and he does a great job explaining the concepts behind what we're learning. His exams were difficult though, but because of that the curves are typically pretty good. Enderle prepares you for a career, not an exam, so you learn a ton from him.
As someone who hates chemistry and struggled in 2A, Enderle made the subject almost enjoyable. Lectures are engaging and he only teaches what you really need to know. He makes his exams basically unpassable but the curve is huge, so just do better than average and you'll be fine. the LECTURE PREP is a gamechanger bc he goes fast! and go to OH!!
Very passionate about chemistry. Great professor. Reader and Practice exams are a MUST to do well in this class. Lecture is only good for INTRODUCING you to the subject. Put in the work and you will do well. Not insanely difficult but this class requires time and effort. I average A- on the midterms, 1) watch lecture, 2) do practice exams and MCs.
Best chem teacher in the entire university
Great professor with an amazing reader. Passing was like a 49% and an A was only at a 75% so it is very lenient. This changes depending on students performance but it should be similar each quarter. Doing the practice problems and understanding them will get u at least an A- in the class. Take Him!
Enderle absolutely lives up to the hype. Best chem professor I've had by far. Yes, his tests are hard. Don't expect to get a good grade just by showing up to class and doing the homework. Take notes on the reader and do as much practice as possible. Go to OH! They are extremely helpful. He points out things that are on the exams during his OH.
Enderle acknowledges that chemistry is challenging and not enjoyable for most so he teaches in a very easy-to-understand way. His office hours are VERY helpful so try to go to him a couple of times. He regularly throws questions from the lecture into the exams so take detailed notes. He is a really great professor overall.
People tend to rate him well b/c he's entertaining. His lectures don't explain much, his office hours are packed and you don't have the chance to ask much, and his test are crazy. His class doesn't set you up to succeed. IMO, your best shot would be trying to teach yourself the material from the start. Pick an easier prof, use Enderle's reader.
Enderle is a decent professor, however, his lectures are pretty useless. He uses half of the time to go over one question, takes a 5-15 minute break, shows a small demo, then does one more practice problem. His lectures are not really necessary. However, his reader is really well written and is a perfect substitute for the actual textbook.
Dr. Enderle is great at lecturing and explaining concepts, however all of his exams are graded on a tough curve. The curve only helps if you get below a 75%, so getting an A or a B is extremely difficult. Enjoyed the class a lot, but if I knew about the curve I would have opted for a different professor.
His course is difficult, but I can't blame him for it, thats just how chemistry is. He is a great person and a great instructor. His test are possibly the hardest i have taken, but they are still very possible with and INCREDIBLE curve. if you pay attention and do the work, you will surely learn a lot.
HIS TESTS ARE HARD, but they are curved which makes it SLIGHTLY better. Enderle is great, I loved his teaching method and the ways he explains all the concepts, but chem just screwed me over. its not him, it's chem... Love Enderle... Oh and also, he's very open to re-grading. I love you Enderle. I would give him a 5/5, but his tests are.. hard...
Great professor overall. Really puts in the effort in order to teach you all of the concepts and is very understanding.
3rd year and hardest class ever taken. Nice guy but worst lecturer. His material is confusing and fast, and he teaches DURING examples without a proper intro to anything, ever. I recommend taking this class at CC over summer of first year since profs at Davis are insane. Labs sucked. The only good part is he doesn't give minuses. Barely passed.
Enderle lectures in a way where he expects you to know what he's doing because he basically wants you to watch every other video and example he's posted outside of class which you could say is double the lectures and can be difficult to manage. His exams are DIFFICULT but the curves are ok, but I can confirm he's overhyped. Wouldn't take again.
It's a lot of chemistry, so yeah, it's difficult. But I feel like Enderle makes the material as easier to understand and gives a lot of material to help. Lectures feel very dense, even with demos. Honestly, what I feel can make or break this class is if you have a good TA. Tests are difficult, but the curve and provided practice tests help.
Lectures are informative and fast paced at times. Exams are very difficult if the concepts are new to you. The curve helps but it's not the best compared to the ones given by other CHE2A profs. Prof Enderle is really fun and genuine but the class overall is kind of difficult. Do practice exams and attend OH! helps a lot!
Professor Enderle's lectures are definitely interesting, but it's easy to fall behind. If you don't do the pre-lecture preparation, you will fall behind. His tests are hard, but the curve makes it easy to pass. HOWEVER, it is VERY hard to get an A. If I were to retake this class, I would register for another professor, but attend Enderle's lecture.
Overall amazing professor. Tough curriculum and difficult tests but really helps students out by providing practice tests and his own lecture notes that are easier to follow than the textbook. Super interesting lectures with cool demos and keeps the class engaged. Best professor to get and definitely take advantage of practice tests.
Honestly I didn't get the hype. I think he's good at explaining the concepts but he does not integrate enough examples into his lectures. He has a tendency to skip steps and rearrange equations when solving without explaining that's what he did which can make it very confusing to learn. He's really cool but the math was just hard to learn from him.
Enderle is an amazing professor. His lectures are very informational and he provides many examples in class. As long as you pay attention during lecture, do all the hw, and make use of the practice exams he provides, you will do well in this class.
Great professor and lived up to the hype. Very clear on instruction and open to questions. I'm also taking him for che2b. Some people will tell you that enderle is overrated and gulicar(?) is better but that is not true.
With the amount of material, Enderle did a great job at explaining it all in the short time he had. Though lectures went quick, you could always ask him in office hours/email for a follow-up, and he would do a great job of explaining it. He really cares about students and is fun to learn from. Bonus is he's funny.
Enderle has a reputation for being difficult, but his curves are fair and you'll learn a lot. He brings enthusiasm and energy to his lectures with music, demos, and a general passion for helping you learn. His lecture notes are everything important condensed from the textbook and the practice exams are EXTREMELY helpful for doing well on exams.
Don't be like me, Enderle is a great professor and guy, he truly cares about the education of his students. Go to his OH and classes. GO.
Prof. Enderle has engaging lectures, usually accompanied by an interesting demo. He provides lots of resources such as his reader, and practice problems, and practice exams from previous years. His class is hard, but that's just because the 2 series is difficult. You should do fine as long as you attend lecture, do the homework, and practice.
Unlike other professors, Enderle does his best to make lectures fun, bringing along demos related to current topics to show to the class. However, I do think he is overhyped, and there isn't anything that stands out from his teaching style aside from doing practice problems. Exams are very difficult, but curves are generous (first exam, 45% was C).
Enderle is super nice and cares about his students. His reader is an amazing resource even if you don't have his class. His exams are honestly pretty hard and almost always have trick questions.
If someone on this campus deserves an award for a Nobel prize in education, it's Dr. Enderle. If no such thing exists, make one to give to him. If you do the practice questions he gives, read the reader, and ATTEND LECTURES, you will be fine. He explains concepts extremely well. He is a first ballot hall of fame Chemistry professor.
You will do well on the midterms and final as long as you do the discussion worksheets and practice exams and try to understand every problem. I didn't really enjoy his lecture style since it was more example based with less explanations of the material, but thats my own preference. His reader is very good for reviewing and previewing for lectures.
You can tell Dr. Enderle really is passionate about chemistry and has a very in depth understanding of it. While this is not an easy class, he does provide tons of resources, recorded lectures, in depth notes, review sessions, etc, so there is no shortage of practice, and his lectures are pretty good as well.
Enderle's lectures were engaging and he performed many demos. He goes over a lot of example problems, and his reader and practice exams prepare you very well for his exams. Go to office hours - it helps a lot.
Dr. E is probably one of the best lecturers you will find in the chemistry department. But do not let that blind you, the exams are difficult. Study hard, use the reader, take extensive notes, do lots of practice.
always looked forward to coming to lecture. he's great at lecturing but the exams are harder than other profs. attend lectures, discussion, and office hours and the curve will get you that pass
Engaging lectures, fun demos. The best chem professor you could ask for.
Enderle is a great professor who knows a lot. He makes his lectures engaging and he is super responsive outside of class. However, HIS TESTS ARE HARD. The curve will help you but you HAVE to study outside of class. Lectures alone will not teach you the content and Enderle moves very quickly so you have to keep up or you'll fall behind. Rewarding!!!
This was my second quarter with enderle and he is an incredible professor. The top option for che 002a/b! I struggled in this class but it wasn't because of anything he did as a professor, the material is just rough and I honestly didn't put nearly enough effort in. Take enderle, you won't regret it!
I never thought I could get an A in chemistry, but after having Professor Enderle, that has changed. Definitely recommend taking him, regardless of curves, he's an amazing professor. His lectures are always entertaining and helpful when studying. Grades aren't based on a lot (2 midterms). Keep practicing and keep up with lectures and homework.
I love Dr. Enderle. Not only is he a great Professor, but he has a great personality and is always making the class laugh. It is not an easy class; you will need to spend outside time practicing and reviewing material, but the hard work pays off. Enderle is genuinely a really caring person, hands down one of the best Professors at Davis.
Student from Duim here. Why does he make such difficult tests? The final was unreasonably difficult. HE prepared HIS students for those questions. Why make the other chemistry students suffer? It's not like all the classes learn at the same depth and pace as Enderle's class. Should have been more considerate making the final.
Enderle was a good professor who taught really well. I thought his lectures were amazing and were paced correctly. His exams were known to be a little harder than the other professors plus he doesn't curve THAT much; however, I truly believe he gives you all the resources to succeed. Overall the class wasn't bad at all.
This professor is very fun and makes it easy to understand concepts. Tests are HARD!! But let's be honest, I haven't taken an easy chem test. He's very funny and makes it enjoyable to come to class. Not much homework. Highly recommend.
Enderle's lectures are better than any of the the other chem professors I've taken. He makes class fun, does experiments every class (the other professors rarely do that), and just generally turns a difficult class into a less difficult class. He good at teaching and likes answering questions. Only bad thing is that his tests are hard/low curve.
I took Professor Enderle's class last year and he's wonderful. Not only does he care about his students, but he's a great lecturer and very obviously loves teaching and Chemistry. He's very accessible outside of lecture through Office Hours; make sure to go. His exams are difficult, but if you apply yourself more than I did, an A is fully possible.
Enderle as a lecturer is a good professor but his exams are far harder than what he teaches in class. If you want to understand the material extremely well, take Enderle but if you want an A, you might want to take an easier professor. His exams are purely conceptual and it's hard to follow with his lectures if you didn't watch the vids he posts.
Enderle is an awesome professor. His lectures are super important to go to, because not only does he cover a lot of content but is also very informative. The homework and lab work definitely reflects a 5 unit class, all in all taking around 6 hours a week. Tests are pretty difficult, but still definitely worth taking Enderle if you take the class
Doctor Enderle is a great teacher, but it is very important that you study for this class! Make sure to do the practice exams he gives in class. If you do not study you will get a lower grade. Go to his office hours if you are having a hard time in class! He is a really great teacher. Make sure to be friendly to your TAs theyre the ones grading!!!
If you can, get this man!! Register for his class as early as possible because it is so worth it, students from other chem classes come to attend his lectures because of how well he explains concepts. He truly made chem comprehensible and was an amazing professor!
Professor Enderle is an amazing lecturer. You can feel his passion for chemistry in the way he teaches. This class is very difficult though. Exams are no joke but practice exams are provided and super helpful and the curve is generous. Make sure to stay on top of homework and studying and show up to every lab!
To be honest, I did struggle sometimes in the materials covered in class because I find chemistry difficult to understand. However, Dr. Enderle really helped me gain a better understanding on these concepts. Many people would come into to take notes on his lecture. He responds to emails pretty quickly and answers students questions during lectures.
Enderle is highly respected amongst the chemistry department and after taking 2A, I understand why. He's an excellent lecturer and his office hours are very helpful. His tests are DIFFICULT, but the curve is very generous. Exam 1, 2, and the final are worth 82% of your grade. Go to lecture, read the book and his reader. Overall good class and guy.
Professor Enderle was an amazing lecturer and professor. He took great care in teaching the material and did his best to help his students during office hours. His tests are much harder than other professors, but makes up for it with his lectures. I only passed this class by going to office hours, study groups, and doing tons of independent study.
the curve is crazy. You pass w 40%
I didn't even have Enderle, I went to his lectures because I didn't understand Longaker's. His lectures are so engaging, he makes chemistry seem fun sometimes. Always does cool demos, he definitely helped a lot with my understanding of chemistry. I have him next quarter for 2B and I'm looking forward to it!
If you're interested in grades, it's almost impossible to get anything below a C. It's easy to get a B, and it's extremely difficult to get an A. His lectures were clear, but you need to self-study. His exams live up to their reputation, but the curve is very generous for those scoring low. I highly recommend getting his reader.
Professor Enderle is a great lecturer and a great person. He cares about his students and helping them, whether that be in class or out. He wrote me a recommendation within a short timespan even though he was not obligated to whatsoever. Academically, however, this class has very very hard tests. It is very tough to get an A but also hard to fail.
Enderle has so much hype at Davis- sure the lectures are entertaining but class content is SO different from tests. After attending lectures and every office hour, got a C+ (before this I'd never even had a B let alone a C). This series is honestly based on how well your TA can teach. Got a way better score with way less effort w/ chamberlain.
Enderle make lecture material super understanding! Too bad his exams are based mainly on concepts from the book so basically any math choices made based on concepts get thrown out the window if you are lost. Cool experiments during lect but more of a novelty since the class is lost 80% of the time anyway. Get a bad TA? Kiss your grade goodbye.
I took AP Chem before taking this class and struggled in it. He focuses a lot of lectures on doing practice problems which is really nice but can be difficult for those who don't understand the chemistry conceptually. His exams could be really surprising so you definitely have to study all the material (in general). Also he is rlly funny
incredibly engaging and easy to understand. loved his lectures, it's very clear that he's very passionate about chemistry and teaching. people complain about his tests being hard but they're extremely doable. he gives you all the possible resources you need to succeed. do all the practice tests and ask him anything you can't solve in office hours.
The class is HARD, especially if you haven't taken chem before, but I thought Enderle was a great teacher. He does "demos" each class to make it a bit more fun and provides extra resources to help. Lecture is mostly focused on practice problems though, so you'll need to spend extra time making sure you understand concepts. Don't study last minute!!
Very easy to pass, but extremely difficult to get an A (30% was a C but 88% for an A). Do all the discussion worksheets and as many practice exams as you can. The lectures are so fun and I'm actually excited to go most of the time.
Awesome prof, always have a demo in class, and the lecture is very clear.
Professor Enderle is a super great presenter, and he even did experiments for his class. Chemistry is reasonably hard, but his exams are okay because he provides practice exams that are a good guideline for the test - not exactly like the test though.
Professor Enderle is really enthusiastic and clearly loves sharing his chemistry knowledge with his students. Students in his class are given ample practice problems and past exams, so studying analytically will yield high test scores. There's a fun demo and a short break every lecture, and long questions are posted in canvas before class.
Easygoing professor and will answer questions after class. He puts effort into making chemistry enjoyable and understandable. This class does go by fast so you better ask him a question if you have one. Do beware that his classes fill up QUICKLY and his office hours can get busy, especially during exam time. If you want to LEARN, take Enderle.
Dr. Enderle's lectures were very helpful, as well as his YouTube videos and the reader. I really enjoyed the demos and his sense of humor, it would make the lecture more enjoyable. Exams are pretty difficult, but rewatching the lecture videos, doing practice problems, and making sure to understand the content helped me a lot.
the best chem class i've ever taken and i'm historically bad at chem. he explains things very well and in depth and answers questions well. felt like the midterms were fair and the final was alright. WILL HINT WHAT'S ON TESTS. labs won't always match lecture topics. he's really funny and you'll really enjoy his class trust me.
I was worried before taking his class since I've only taken chem online (learned nothing), but Enderle's engaging lectures and demos made the class so fun. Make sure to preview his lectures first because he mainly does examples in class (his reader is super helpful). Only downside is that office hours fill up very fast, so make sure you're quick.
Enderle explains concepts and calculations really carefully and clearly. He will take time in class to answer students questions and make fun demos during class. He has his own readers and YT channels that are extremely helpful outside of lectures and gives A LOT of practice problems for students to prepare for exams.
A lot of the concepts in this course can be challenging to grasp, but Dr. Enderle's slides and lectures make a big difference. Highly recommend you attend them, along with reading the textbook. I found his exams to be rather tough (compared to what I heard about other chem profs) and the curve isn't always very helpful.
He's very funny. As long as you lock in and study, you'll be good. Labs and discussions are mandatory, but I recommend going to his lectures. His demos got me through it. I had a chill TA, and the only hard thing was his exams. BUT! He has his practice exams from quarters ago, so take advantage of those! (and office hours and tutoring!!)
Most of your grade depends on the two midterms and final. Very accessible during office hours. Lectures are fun because he does demos and gives small breaks. Tests are quite difficult but lots of resources given- reader and practice exams.
love the experiments he brings to class and how he writes down everything step by step. his test are HARD, nothing like his practice ones. you just have to know EVERYTHING for exams. take if you think you are great at self studying and love chemistry, if you're not, maybe take a different professor who curves better for the sake of your gpa.
While Prof Enderle was a good lecturer and available for his students, his class was difficult. His curve barely curved, which was unfair given the other chem professors had a very substantial curve on their tests. For example, on an identical final, Gulacar students needed an 80% for an A whereas Enderle students needed an 89% to get an A.
Enderle was tough, exam 1 was rough, exam 2 is easier, and the final was easier than exam 1. Make sure to go to office hours, THEY HELP. He curves not as much as other professors, my 65% was a C+.
If you put in the work it will pay off! Enderle is the best professor I've ever had and probably ever will have.
Everyone complaining about "lack of a curve" doesn't understand it: the curve is the average score=C+, and everything within a st. dev of that is a grade. Enderle's class preforms better than other professors, which is why the curve seems to be less drastic. Students preform significantly better in his class. He provides everything you need to pass
Enderle is the best! He provides SO many resources to study from, and he genuinely cares about his students' success. He's also very engaging in lecture with his demos. I highly recommend taking Enderle if you can!
While he was a good lecturer in terms of explaining concepts and providing fun demos, it was a very hard class to do so well in since the curve was very minimal especially the exams being rough. Get ready to self study. I would recommend other professors.
He is an amazing professor! All his lectures were always well planned. His test were at an appropriate level of difficulty. He puts a lot of effort into every lecture by performing a demonstration every lecture and making class engaging even at 9 am. My only mistake was not attending enough lectures(dont be like me!).
Most knowledgeable chem professor out there. Super funny guy and lectures are extremely clear. Always happy to help during office hours. Weighting: 10% Lab, 6% Homework, 2% Discussion attendance, 23% Midterm 1, 23% Midterm 2, and 36% Final. His exams are a lot more difficult compared to other chem professors, but he curves quite a bit.
Awesome professor, highly recommend. Highly informative lectures and plenty of practice problems in class help prepare you for the tests. Make sure to read the lecture notes and do his practice exams (he offers many). If you do that and keep on top of the material you'll do good. Lectures are recorded, discussion is mandatory. TAKE HIM! :)
Dr. Enderle was terrific for CHE2B. His lectures were very organized and concise. He is very helpful for any questions you have about course material or tough questions during his office hours and after class. He is the best of the UC Davis intro gen chem professors.
i had him for 2a and i'm glad i took him again. he explains things very well and his notes are very organized. the reader and practice exams definitely helped, use them! tests were reasonable and the curve is great. if you go to office hours, read through notes, and do the practice exams you'll do great. he's also really funny and approachable.
Had Enderle for 2A and I'm so glad I took him again for 2B. Amazing professor and super cool demos. Does lots of example problems in class and expects you to preview lecture material beforehand. Discussions are mandatory and useful. Curve was great and midterms will go well if you take advantage of the practice exams/problems he gives. Take him!!!
had him for CHE2A&B and he was wonderful. He breaks down difficult concepts very well and makes them more accessible for students, a lot of practice problems are available and they're incredibly helpful. Enderle cares about his students and wants them to succeed and is available outside of class for that reason. Highly recommend him for CHE2.
honestly, he's pretty overrated. his canvas is the like the most useless canvas i've ever seen. he will say things are posted, but you won't be able to find them anywhere bc they're not posted.
His class is hard, but he is an incredible teacher
Professor Enderle is a really good lecturer and clearly explains things. However, I feel that his exams are much more difficult than they need to be. Overall, I enjoyed his class but I don't know if I would take it again with him.
I had Enderle for 2A, 2B, & 2C. I got a B+ in 2ab and an A in 2c. Overall he's a great lecturer and it's definitely possible to get a good grade because he gives you a LOT of resources - practice exams, the reader, his youtube channel, recorded lectures, office hours, exam reviews sessions. You need to put in the time and effort to do well.
Had him for CHE ABC & got an A+ for B&C. If you're deciding between profs, STOP! Take enderle you won't regret it! Here's how you study to get an A: read the reader beforehand so lecture is just a review. Go to office hours to get clarification on any questions you have. 1.5 weeks before exams, start doing practice exams, do the last 3 timed
A lot of people say his tests are hard, and it's true. But that makes beating the curve easier. For reference, he had a 5% curve, so an 85% is an A, while the other chem professor (Farahat) had no curve so you need 90% for an A
Very good at teaching, but has difficult tests. Probably the best lecturer I've ever seen at Davis.
I've had Enderle for all of the che2 series and he's a good person and professor! He has great lectures with fun demos, and breaks. His tests are hard but his reader and practice tests are very helpful. The curve is always good with a wide C range. Some people take another professor with easier tests and come to Enderle's lectures.
One of the greatest chem profs out there. Great lectures, great resources (readers + videos), clear communication, helpful office hours, definitely attend his review sessions. He also has a demo in almost every class which makes learning chem really fun. You can tell he knows what he's doing and wants students to understand and love chemistry.
Great professor, wonderful and interactive lectures, I loved my TA but she's pursuing greater things now. My grade isn't reflective of his teaching, just my poor study habits and limited understanding of STEM. Switched majors but I do miss his lectures, they aren't required but they are bomb. Gave extra credit for dressing up for Halloween.
If you can take him, DO IT!! Excited to go to lectures! Does an experiment each time. Hints at what type of questions will be on the midterm and hosts very clear OH. His classes fill up quick so apply fast! If I could have taken him for the entire Chem series I would have
Professor Enderle is a challenging but engaging chemistry instructor. While his exams can be quite difficult, his lectures are informative and the provided resources like the reader and practice tests are very helpful. Attending class and office hours is key to succeeding in this course.
Enderle is a great lecturer with fun demos, but his exams are quite challenging. The course materials and review sessions are extremely helpful. I found unstuckstudy AI and the free textbook to be great study tools alongside his class.
Conveyed chemistry concepts very clearly, answered questions adequately, good sense of humor.
Imo, he's a good professor only if you really understand Chemistry or have knowledge of General Chemistry. Most of the material in 2A is already covered in AP Chem, so it's mainly review + a couple of new ideas for gases. Otherwise, you might find it difficult to catch up with him in lectures since he does speak pretty fast.
I took this class without any previous chemistry knowledge. If you want a good grade use his readers (has everything you need), TA's aren't that helpful, lectures go over maybe like 1/4 of the information you need for the exams, DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS (will save you), and get ready to self-study. He prepares you best out of all the chemistry profs.
literally the goat. super funny and cares about his students + his lectures are fun! exams are hard but thats the trade off for a fantastic prof :) lots of practice exams too!
Enderle is a good teacher for those who have a good chemistry background (for example if you took AP Chem in high school). His class isn't really teaching, it's just going over examples. He 100% expects you to learn material before lectures. His tests are extremely hard and not really like the examples he provides in class.
his lectures & demos are fun. he throws a lot of stuff at you during the lectures and his exams are not like his practice exams. he's really nice & his exams show how much he expects you to know. there are 2 midterms and one final. the midterms are worth 23% and the final is worth 36%. the curves are pretty good
Professor Enderle is extremely funny and his readers are amazing. The downside is how much more difficult his exams are. He does curve scores so that is a plus. (~80% is an A.) I would take Enderle if you have taken AP chemistry. About 70% of it is review with some more challenging problems. Entertaining and worth it, IF you can handle difficulty.
He's funny and inspirational. Great lecture with demos. The only thing with this course is difficult tests, but I believe it comes with great curves. There are many tricky multiple choices questions with little traps, but I like Chemistry and I think they help me to be careful when reading the questions. My pleasure to study with Dr. Enderle :)
this class is hard, but you learn a lot with enderle. definitely watch his youtube videos and thoroughly read the lecture notes! (oftentimes, the answers to tricky conceptual questions are found there.) tests are difficult but not impossible if you prepare well (he gives you so many resources to succeed, so take advantage of them!) good luck!
Took him during this last fall, and I've gotta say his lectures were quite fun. However, unless you absolutely LOVE chemistry DO NOT take his class. His tests are incredibly difficult - this is coming from someone who was at the top of his class in high school and generally found everything to be easy.
He makes lectures fun and easy to pay attention to. The material is difficult, but he sets up the class in a way that it's very difficult to fail.
Enderle is a very fun lecturer. His class is never boring however his notes are too wordy and his tests are hard. Without a good understanding, it is hard to do well in his class.
Amazing professor. Although the exams are somewhat tough, but his lectures are supper strong that can support you to get a good grade. And also there is a curve, and a lot of practice exams. So if you can deal with all the homework and practice exams, you can get a great score in it.
Definitely a hard class but as long as you do the practice tests from his reader and go to lectures you will be fine. The content is hard but Enderle is a good teacher so that makes it a lot easier to learn.
Enderle is an amazing professor and teaches a difficult subject really well. His lectures and tests can be more "concept" heavy than mathematics/writing problems so make sure to pay attention to that. He cracks jokes and gives out little treats sometimes after a test to make you feel better. I will be taking him again for CHE2C!
This class was incredibly difficult, but Dr. Enderle does everything possible to help students succeed. He has his own reader, Youtube channel, & provides old exams. He did demos in class and was incredibly entertaining. He's good at communicating logistics. He does practice problems during class, which was very helpful. Office hours were helpful.
Dr. Enderle is a nice professor who is willing to answer any questions you may have. That being said, the tests are quite difficult and you get tested on the stuff that you wouldn't think would appear on the exam.
I like the lectures. Do practice tests and you'll be fine.
Such a great professor!!! I took him for che 2a and 2b. (wanted to continue 2c with him but couldn't.) I love how organized he is and how he makes confusing concepts so much easier. Love his reader and his practice exams. really helped a lot. exams are very fair and cutoffs are very very generous. Not a hard class. Take him!!!!
Fairly difficult class, but Enderle is an amazing lecturer and provides many resources in and out of class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND utilizing practice exams, they really prep you for the difficulty of the exams. The difference in your score for when you practice vs. when you don't practice is abundantly clear. Taking again for 2C. Best chemistry professor
Fantastic lectures, highly communicative and helpful. Like everyone else says, do all the practice questions in his practice exam book, learn from your mistakes, and you will do fine. The tests are pretty difficult, but the good curve makes up for it.
Super funny, personable guy! Amazing at teaching, which is why all the classes use his material. His grading cut-offs are a bit high, just because he teaches so well that everyone else also gets really good scores on exams. But, if lectures matter to you (aka you can't teach yourself), and you are willing to practice, this is the professor for you.
Truly remarkable professor. I really enjoyed his lectures because of his demos, handwritten notes, and humor. Enderle is so silly and dorky, and his passion is contagious! His resources are unmatched too. The practice exams were incredibly helpful, and I felt all of his exams were fair and straightforward. So happy I got to experience his class!!
His lectures are engaging and he does demos which are enjoyable to watch! Dont underestimate his exams, the class has over 80% weighted towards the 3 tests. The practice exams are a HUGE help so I highly suggest studying them as well as his reader in order to do well!!! Homework isn't hard, discussion graded, lab graded. Good luck, you'll need it!
Highly recommend if you can get in his class, great energy and teaches well. His office hours and extra materials he offers are so helpful. 2B was definitely better than 2A. Curves were in my experience generous and when it comes to labs you can get help from TAs
Funny, chill, and a great lecturer. He gives you plenty of resources to study for the midterms and exams and there is virtually no additional homework. Class is about average difficulty, probably about the same as Hayashi's (I took him for Che 002A).
Upon stepping into lecture, it is clear Professor Enderle loves to teach. In addition to covering subject material and examples, he also does in-person scientific demonstrations during lecture and he is always open to answering questions from across the hall. His exams can be tough, but they are curved and they prepare you for the final exam.
Tests are VERY hard but class has a really good curve. I didn't love his teaching style, but he has tons of great resources available. Lectures were fast, and I think some of the other chem professors have better lectures but he's funny and with the curve the class is pretty fair. He also writes the universal final so it gives you an advantage.
I got a bad grade due to my workload that quarter but Enderle is genuinely a nice and compassionate professor. He thoroughly explains concepts, connecting them through abstracts and real-world examples. His exams are more difficult than his colleagues I'd say, but he provides many resources and practice(Discussion worksheets w answers, pract exams)
If you haven't taken AP Chem and are looking to get a good grade for che2a, I wouldn't recommend enderle because there is so much information that needs to be learned in a short amount of time that it was difficult to understand why things happened. Additionally, his tests were hard compared to the other teachers.
Enderle is definitely a good teacher for 2b but very test heavy and he moves fast.
Dr. Enderle knows his stuff and is hilarious and engaging. Be aware that his tests are quite hard. Nearly every question has some kind of "twist". They are written to see if students have a deep understanding of the material, which isn't bad, just challenging. He also lectures at a fast pace, but there's a lot of material to cover.
Amazing professor, his lecture style is super easy to follow and he clearly lays out what you need to know. People say his tests are hard, this is college ya'll it's supposed to be! He has an amazing curve and so many resources to learn the material you will get a good grade if you try. Has HW but it is not that much and is helpful for studying!
Dr. Enderle is fantastic. His teaching is easy to follow and engaging. He provides so many resources and additional materials. He is super caring and wants to see his students succeed. Definitely take him if you can.
Enderle is the best professor I have had at UC Davis. He is so funny and kind. He loves what he teaches and wants his students to succeed. His midterms are hard, but there is a good curve and they are good practice for the final. He also has plenty of practice exams to practice before midterms. Definitely take him for the whole series if you can!
Best professor I've ever had. Lectures are STELLAR, he's thorough when explaining concepts, and makes exam expectations crystal clear. Very friendly too. Does a break in lecture & an in person demo (sometimes lets you try). Curve + tests are not bad and are identical to practice exams. Makes chem genuinely enjoyable. I wish I could give a 6/5.
SUCH a great prof. I loved going to every single lecture. This class was hard, but Enderle has SO MANY resources for you to get good practice in for each exam (so take advantage!!!). Watch the youtube videos, read the lecture notes, do the practice problems!! This dude made my freshman year.
Enderle made me like chemistry! I thought his exams were about the same level of difficulty as Gulacar's. However, unlike Dr. G, he's a great lecturer and thoroughly explains everything you need to know for the final, you just need to study. The LA worksheets on Discord and his practice exams are gold.
Phenomenal professor. Difficult subject matter, but grades are curved according to class averages. Practice, practice, practice. Attend all lectures and don't be lazy, and his class will not be as hard as it could be. If Enderle taught more than the 2 series, I'd retake him without a doubt. Don't take your many, MANY resources for granted.
He is a great professor, but his exams are pretty hard.
Read the reader (all the information is pulled from there) and go to lectures with any questions. Do practice tests.
He's a great lecturer, clearly explains the subject, with fun demos, but difficult exams! Chem 2A was a hard class, especially as a new student. I recommend going to his office hours and review sessions, and doing the practice exams. His readers for the whole CHE2 series saved my sanity, even when I didn't have him as a professor, soo helpful!!
His lectures and notes are very useful for the exams (gets to the point, no BS). If I had Enderle in high school I would probably be in Berkeley rn.
well. i took his class because like what you're probably doing right now, i saw the rating and instantly added him to my schedule builder. DON'T DO THAT. his exams are harder then other chem professors for some reason?? i saw the other professors tests and they were easier. his lectures are meh and overhyped.
He makes diddy “jokes” every year for three years now apparently. As a r*pe victim it is extremely professional. I have screen recordings of two videos from different years posting of his diddy jokes. Extremely unprofessional and creating a hostile educational space.
Not as good as the ratings say. His lectures are good and well organized, but they are so hard to follow and it takes a LOT of practice to incorporate the concepts. A lot of homework and post lab to do, tests are so hard and have to pay attention to every detail to get a good grade. As a person he has a bad personality and is not as much caring.
100% overglazed. had to self study for extremely hard exams esp compared to other profs. trick q's were things he didnt mention or mumbled at 9 am. makes gen chem difficulty same as upper div pchem. sure hes funny but he'll make u laugh during the exam at how ridiculous some of the q's r. if the avg is 50% then the class didnt fail but the prof did
Doesn't teach the material in lecture, glazes over example problems the entire time, not explaining how to do them. 100% need to take notes & learn the material BEFORE lecture which defeats the entire purpose of lecture. Extremely hard tests that aren't similar to the practice exams. DO NOT take if you don't already know chem b/c you wont learn.
Amazing lectures. He clearly has a passion for chemistry. Explains chemistry topics very well (at least compared to my highschool chemistry teacher). Goes over tough examples and practice problems that are relevant to the exam questions and homework. Uses a grade cut-off system for each exam based on the averages and standard deviation. Cool dude.
most people who think he's good compare him to their high school professors which makes no sense bc we're in college now so the bar should also change. icl i was a victim of the enderle propaganda last year but looking back i dont think hes that good of a prof. lecs are useless for his exams that honestly made me wanna switch careers.
Really Funny. Tests are pretty difficult, and curve is decently generous. Would take again. Also is the goat of chemistry.
Doesnt really teach the material, rushes through examples w/o explaining how to solve them. You basically have to learn everything before lecture, but even then the lectures are a waste of time. Tests are way harder than the practice exams. If ur not already strong in chem, dont take this class. Its better to start in a lower chem than fail.
Excellent instructor!
Amazing lectures. Tests are hard but definitely doable. Would recommend.
Enderle is a caring professor. Although his lectures are hard to follow. Basically he doesn't explain what his doing so to understand what's going on you have to be ahead by a week. The people who take him average SO high to the curve is mid. If you're not already strong in chem take it with galucar. doo that and your transition will be smooth.
enderle is honestly the best gen chem teacher here i can't lie. i took ap chem and got the same grade as i did in this class! homework is time consuming though so beware about that. also lecture is mostly examples, so it's up to you to take notes on the actual topic before class. the final is also super hard. had a good time in this class though!
The reviews are pretty accurate he has cool demos and seems like a nice prof who wants his students to succeed. However the exams are really hard if you haven't taken AP chem or have a strong base already. Recommend utilizing reader, office hours, and studying the past exams as much as possible.
Professor Enderle is an absolutely amazing professor; I was very lucky to be in his class as his lectures are informative and engaging and he really instills an interest for chemistry in his students. While it is true that his exams are quite hard, they are graded and curved fairly and with effort, it is very possible to succeed. Highly reccommend!
Great professor, lectures always engaging with interesting demos but are fast paced. Lots of resources given to students and he's always happy to help. This class is tough so practice practice practice all materials knowing the concepts is not enough must be able to apply topics. Tests are hard but curve is generous.
Came in w barely any chem knowledge, struggled first few weeks, but as long as u PRACTICE u'll do fine. Lots of resources provided, LA WS & OA helped me the most. Enderle midterms weren't SUPER hard, I think ppl say its harder than other profs bc they contain conceptual questions. Final was way easier than midterms. Lec's r practice problem heavy.
Aside from the normal lab stuff, learning the material was the most cumbersome. The best part of Enderle's class was the near infinite amount of resources that he provides for you to learn the material. He has his own lecture notes, a whole youtube channel, review before exams, and a curve that is fair. If you apply yourself, you will succeed.
Does not teach in class. Has no slideshows and bases lectures off reader. He just throws problems at you in class, expects you to be on par with what he goes over, and gives you like 30 seconds to solve a problem. Do not fall for the propaganda. Otherwise, he is an absolute great guy, cares about students, great personality, but just cant teach!!!!
Believe all the amazing Enderle reviews. Such a fantastic professor with in depth and interesting lectures. You know exactly what to expect for everything, so many additional resources are provided, and you will be the best prepped when it comes to finals week. Also he does cool demos!
Dr. Enderle is an amazing lecturer. Although he doesn't have slides, he writes down notes and does problems from the projector. He expects you to come into class prepared for the material. Clear communicator. He has his own YouTube channel, his own reader, and his LA's make several worksheets for each chapter approved by him. So many resources.
Great lecturer who tries to make the subject digestible. Tests are hard but passable, lots of homework but it is pretty easy. Overall would take again for the gen chem series.
Dr. Enderle is an amazing professor, his teaching style is definetly unique, so if you don't thrive in lectures that are heavy with problems and goes really fast, you may want to stray away from his class. There's a million and a half resourses for you to use to succeed in the class, and passing is super achievable.
Class is only as difficult as you make it. There are so many resources available to you (office hours, tutors, yt channel, discord) and as long as you practice, you'll do well. His lectures are very fast paced and he goes over a lot of problems, so get a basic idea of the concepts he's covering before coming in. Hard tests but good curve.
