so, so, so nice, helpful, and easy to succeed!!
from what i hear he is definitely the easiest music appreciation teacher out there. very nice and very easy tests.
He is the sweetest guy that you will ever meet. If you do bad on a test he is willing to do everything that he can to see that you get an A in the class. I loved him as a teacher although his class was really boring but it is music appreciation.
this guy is so nice and he is an awesome teacher...go in this class! Its so easy..just go to class take the notes and study a little and you have an A....this guy rocks
Easiest and nicest man ever! Wants EVERYONE to have an A
Great man, great class. He loves what he teaches and that's the most important thing...
Lots of concert reviews, Fairly hard tests. However, if he sees you struggeling, he will do everything he can to help you suceed. great guy. Not the Easiest Prof.
Very hard fill in the blank tests. I dropped the class. Music Appreciation shouldn't be that detailed.
i thought he was very hard, i ended up with a B, but it wasnt easy. The class was boring and the tests were hard.
very nice and very easy!
He is such a nice guy! Really wants class to do well. Though tests can be difficult gives extra credit. Take him if you are taking music as your fine art, YOU WONT REGRET IT!
Great guy! He's loves what he teaches and he really tries to help everyone to do well. He has even let the class correct their tests and turn them back in for credit and we've had an open book test. Just take good notes and you'll do well.
Very nice man. Wants everyone to do well and will do whatever he can to help you. Take notes in class and do your concert reviews and you will be fine!
VERY NICE, AND AN EASY CLASS
This is the nicest teacher you will have at Auburn. tests are general and straight from the notes/book. he cares about the students and is very helpful. i highly recommend for core fine arts credit. very easy
The easiest class I have ever taken!!!!
Best guy in Auburn. Very helpful, very nice, loves what he is teaching and will do what he can to help you out.
He really knows about music and knows how to express his appreciation for music
Seriously the nicest teacher I have EVER had. He loves what he teaches, but the class can be a little bit boring at times. He is so sweet, though, and lets you use your notes on some tests. Definitely take this class, even if you don't like music.
I have the guy now. Let me say, NICE guy and great teacher, but, his test are WAY to long! Almost 100 questions. Test are also HARD because so much info. and can get pretty deep. If you don't like test, aviod King; if you are looking for a teacher who loves students and teaches well, get Mr. King!
He's a nice man and the class is very easy, but it is too much busy work! You have to write 4 papers that are 2 pages each on the 4 concerts you have to attend. Then there are 2 listening tests that you have to listen to music for long in advance. It's not hard at all, just too time consuming!
He is real cool and you can tell that he genuinely loves his job so it is much easier to listen to him. you will enjoy this class if you take it.
Mr. King is such a great person! You can tell that he loves what he does. He tells us that he is on the students' side. He is willing to help you any time you need it; just ask. I would highly recommend taking King. He is so nice! The class isn't very hard either if you study.
My favorite teacher so far at Auburn! His tests are a little difficult but he is so helpful and gives you so many oportunities to pull up any bad grade you may make. He is super nice and an awesome Christian guy! I would highly recommend taking him!
THE BEST TEACHER!!! He will do anything so you will have a good grade!!
i love him, he's so nice and genuinely wants his students to do well. the tests are difficult only if you don't study. 4 concert reviews, 2 listening tests. it's all easy if you just take a little time and prepare. he gives lots of bonus and is willing to help in any way!
Nice guy, tests are a little hard, but you have plenty of chances to improve your grade through concert reviews, attendance grades and bonus. I would reccomend him to cover your fine arts credit.
He is the sweetest professor ever. He cares about his students, and cares about their grades. He gives TONS of bonus, do it because he lets you exempt the final if you have enough points. I would take this class again, mostly becauseit's an easy A for your fine art credit!
He is a great professor!! Sooo nice and sweet! He truely loves his students and wants us all to do good and make an A!!
Awesome teacher and very nice guy. He really goes beyond his calling to make sure you do well in his class. He genuinely cares about his students and music.
unbeliveably nice guy, awsome instructor
This is as easy as you can get. You just go to class and do your work and you will be totally fine. Easy A!!!
extremely helpful man. gives you evrything you need to know for the tests. concert reviews are a pain, but he grades them leniantly. will go out of his way to halp you. easy A if you go to class and prepare for the listening tests. amzing man.
EASY!!!!!!!!!!!! plenty of extra credit. VERY NICE and helpful. get your concert reviews done early. gives you an opportunity to exempt the final!!! strongly recommend!
Easiest class I've taken at Auburn. Test are easy, you can use a cheat sheet. Gives tons of extra credit. If you get your concert reviews done early you exempt the final. Concert reviews are the worst part, but its the easiest A ever. Professor King is really nice too. Definately get him for Music.
Great teacher, show up to class and earn points just being there. Do not take at a time of day that you are usually tired due to the classical music. Great teacher, just don't talk or be rude during class. Puts outlines on WebCT and has study guides. Lets you use notes on some tests!
Best Teacher Ever!! He is great class is a little boring but he does let you use a cheat sheet and make sure you check Web Ct for extra credit because if you do it and have so many points you can exempt the final!!!
nice man, good teacher, sometimes boring, easy
This class was not very interesting, but if you go to class and do the assignments, its an easy A. HE's very helpful, and will be flexible with your situation if you have one.For our listening test, he lets us bring a sheet of paper with notes. One time, he even let us take a test w/the study guide
He is one of the nicest professors I have ever had. The class is a little boring, but all you have to do is be there and you will get points. He also gives extra credit and lets you use cheat sheets. You can also exempt the final if you do well enough. Take his class if you can!
Let's face it: music appreciation SUCKS. However, Mr. King is the man...he's a nice guy, loves his students, and he wants you to do well. Take him. He is the best music teacher by far, and get to know him... He is awesome.
Excellent man. Only professor I've had yet at Auburn to give out his home phone! Class was made easy, you had to try to fail. You can exempt the final if you stay up to date with assignments and cheat sheets are allowed on listening tests. Take King he is the man!
Very nice teacher. I enjoyed having him. Always allowed you to have cheats sheets on test. I made high C's low B's on the test and still got an A in the class. He exempts the final for students with an 85 in the class. Take him by far the best music teacher.
He's so sweet!
Very sweet teacher! Wants you to do well and will try his best to help you make an A. :)
Mr. King is the kindest man i have met so far at Auburn. He wants to see you succeed in his class and all your others. Great teacher! Definatly take his class!
He is a wonderful teacher! He cares so much for each student. He helped everyone out on the final if you even had to take it. Great class!
First and formost he is the nicest guy I have ever met and the first professor that I have ever had that TRULY cares about his students (each and every one of them). He is a great teacher and really appreciates music. If you have to take this class he is the one to get.
nicest professor i have ever had. he really cares about students. i missed class one day because i had a wreck on the way to school and he came up to me in class to ask how i was and sent me an email also. i got an A. fun stuff!
very nice man. his regular tests are a little tough, but the listening tests are very easy. he's a great teacher.. very passionate about music. very hard of hearing so it's a little annoying. he's kind of like that teacher on save by the bell who can't hear. i recommend him tho
I absolutely adore Mr. King. He is probably the nicest man at Auburn University and he cares about his students. He is also really laid-back. TAKE HIM!!
Mr. King is GREAT!!! I would recomend him to anyone. It doesnt take much to pull off a "A" in his class. He's very helpful if you need it. He also cancels class ALOT and gives plenty of extra credit. He also allows cheat sheets. Like I said you should definetly take him because he is GREAT :)
Mr. King is the most caring teacher in the entire school. He made me feel like I could do anything! Such a personable guy! His tests aren't too bad and his listening tests aren't either. You almost always get a cheat sheet and he gives 50 points of extra credit! You can even opt to take the final or not if you have enough points! Take Him!!!
Mr. King is one of the few teachers who really cares about his students and that they do well. He tries to make sure that all of his students do well in the class and is so sweet!
Great teacher. He is so nice and REALLY wants everyone to get a good grade. Nobody should make below a B in this class!
Mr. King was an excellent teacher. He was always willing to go out of his way to help his students. I would highly recommend him for music appreciation. One of the easiest teachers I had all semester.
Mr. King is a complete bad ass. He is the nicest man of all time. Extremely helpful. Only bad thing is you have to go to class. But if you do its free points for showing up.
I would definitely recommend Mr. King to anyone! He is probably the nicest teacher I've ever had! He cares so much about his students, and his class is not very hard as long as you go to class
Great guy who wants everyone to do well. I didn't have any musical background before the class, so the tests were a little hard, but not too bad. Gives many chances to balance out your grade through assignments and extra credit. Usually let us use a cheat sheet. I don't think I would've have taken this class if I didn't have him; he's that good.
Great guy! Definitely willing to help you if you need it. Take his class! He was my favorite professor of the semester!
Mr. King is probably one of the nicest men alive. He'll do anything to help you do well. If you make anything below an A in this class you're probably not very good at life. Take him and go to class, he'll reward you for doing so.
An excellent teacher who really, really wants all his students to well. Honestly this guy gives you so much oppurtunity to do well that the only reason I can see for not making an A in this class is that you were just to lazy to take advantage of the oppurtunitys he gives you.
For those who detest this core requirement, this is probably the easiest music appreciation course available. For those who love classical music, you will learn a lot about the genre. King is the nicest professor I have ever had. He cancels nearly a third of the Friday sessions and lets you use cheat sheets on tests. What more could you want?
best professor at auburn. take him if you can.he is amazing. i didnt even put an effort in the class but i made an A. i didnt take my final or the last test. just go to class and do all the assignments and quizes which he helps you with. If you dont get an A, you must be dumb and just too lazy to be in college and i advice you to drop out of school
Wow, what a nice guy! He's so sweet! I hated the class, but enjoyed going because of him. He CARES about his students! He's one of Auburn's finest professors. I did feel sorry for him sometimes because he tries so hard and no one appreciates it.
He is so nice and helpful and gives a ton of extra points if you put forth a tiny bit of effort you will get an A. Also he lets you exempt the exam which was really nice.
He is such a nice man. He tries so hard to make the information interesting and you can't help but love him. He is a great teacher and if you do the assignments and go listen in class you will do great in the class. I got an A and didnt feel like I struggled to get it.
I Love him! He was the best teacher i have ever had at Auburn. He is so passionate about what he does. He made music fun and he tried to get to know us. Great class!
He is a great teacher who loves music and is passionate about what he teaches. I enjoy his class a lot!!
Mr. King makes this class SO easy. All the tests/quizzes are MC. I think the only annoying part is having to go to class every day to get the points. He exempts you from the final which is awesome but the final isn't even that hard anyway. This semester it was one question not even relating to any of the material we went over!
Mr. King is the nicest man i have ever known...truly has a heart of gold! His class is very easy. Do and know the study guide...EASY A! You get points everyday in class that add to your other points, which give you your final grade and exempt you from the exam. Even if you have to take the exam it is an opinion question that is only one paragraph.
SO EASY and NICE. He actually wants you to make an A and will do anything possible to give you one. Understanding and gives a lot of bonus. Easy A if you just go to class everyday.
He really is the nicest and easiest teacher at Auburn. He can be really boring, but he cares nothing about grades, and just wants you to open your mind a little bit. At least 90% of his students make A's & the rest have to try not to make an A. He let us use a sheet of notes on each of the 3 tests. You'd put more effort into failing than passing.
This is the most caring teacher I have ever meet. Would probably give his life for any student. Loves his job, if you need help just email him.
Mr. King is by far the nicest teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Minimal effort is required for an easy A. He lets you retake pretty much anything. It made me mad though when my fellow classmates started taking advantage of him b/c he's so nice. ALL YOU DO IS LISTEN TO MUSIC PRETTY MUCH SO JUST GOTO CLASS.
Great teacher, very helpful, extremely nice guy. He just wants you to learn how to listen to music and doesn't seem to care about grades at all. You would have to try to get less than a B in his class. I actually learned from him, whereas I would have just memorized enough to sc**** by with any other teacher.
My favorite Professor I've had at Auburn. I am a science major with no background in classical music, but I found this class very interesting and easy.
The nicest teacher you will probably ever have. Go to class and study some for the listening quizzes and you should be fine. If you need help he is always willing.
Mr. King by far one of the best music teachers I have ever had. His sole drive to see young people succeed is something rare in today's world. He passion for music allows for the student to clearly understand everything he teaches. A respectable man who wants to see young people learn. Do your best, go to class, listen, respect him, easy A.
Mr. King is great! He was so thoughtful and understanding. He made the class interesting and I learned a lot about music forms and music history. If you have any questions, just email him or ask him, he's great! Just go to class and start the listenings BEFORE the night before listening quizzes.
Mr. King is a rare find in college- he cares so much about everyone. The class is NOT a joke (listening quizzes are hard!) but he will do everything in his power to help you out. I actually got sad when telling him bye the last day of class. His kindness will change your life. Do everything in your power to get him for music appreciation!
Wonderful person! Very helpful. Study and you will get an "A". Take him!
Amazing... Helpful... great teacher... He is the poster child for what a professor is supposed to be like! Awesome...
Amazing! Auburn needs more teachers like Mr. King. He goes out on a limb to help his students succeed academically and in life in general. He teaches large lectures but still takes the time to treat every student like they are his only student. He does not want to trick you...he gives you the material and then a straight-forward test. TAKE HIM!
Mr. King is absolutely a blessing for everyone of his students! He is more than willing to bend over backwards for you when it is needed. However, the class as a total isn't easy... studying IS required. As long as you study a few hours a week, you should get an A or B. If every professor was like him, college would be alot less stressful, TAKE HIM
AMAZING TEACHER! Mr. King really cares about his students. He will do anything within reason to help anyone out.
AMAZING PROF! take him, if more teachers at AU were like Mr. King, the university would be the best in the world. Hands down the more caring teacher I have ever been taught by. Class isn't easy, study and you will do fine, it helps to have a background in some kind of music. Take him!
Great man. He is caring, and wants you to do well. As long as you put effort into his class he will put effort into you. Kind hearted. He appreciates when you visit his office or send him an email. He wants the best for everybody.
Mr. King is by far the greatest teacher ever. He actually makes music appreciation decent. I really thought the class was going to be boring, but I enjoyed it. Going to concerts can be a hassle. His grading system is meant to give you an A, plus you can get exempt from the final. If you can't make an A or B in his class you just aren't trying at all
By far the easiest/nicest teacher at Auburn...if you can't make an A you're just flat out ignorant/lazy. We had a bunch of listening quizzes which were tricky but the two tests we had were online. And the final is one question: all you have to do is answer it! Such a nice and compassionate teacher who actually wants the student to do well.
By far the nicest professor at Auburn; he actually cares if you do well. Anyone who doesn't get an A in this class should be embarrassed, as you have multiple chances to complete assignments even after they're due (for full credit). Class attendance counts, but it's an easy way to get free points just for showing up. Great class, great guy.
An amazing prof! He truly has the biggest heart out of any teacher i've had thus far at Auburn. He really loves what he teaches and wants you succeed in his class. Take him!!
Sweetest man ever!! He cares about every student and his class is enjoyable and easy. By far the best professor at AU
best teacher i've had in 16yrs of school. such a great guy. easiest class ever.
Dr. King is the best teacher I've encountered at Auburn. He truly cares about his students and really wants them to learn, not only about music, but about life too. He made a somewhat boring class very enjoyable and stress free. Auburn should really have more teachers like him.
Easy class, amazing teacher, take him if you get the chance hes the best and most caring teacher you will ever have.
Mr. King is so great! I loved his class. He is really precious and loves teaching. Tests are taken on blackboard, but if you miss one you can make it up. Gong to concert reviews wasn't great but you get full points if you meet the length requirement on your paper.
Such a sweet guy. The first day he says "97% of my class makes an A in this course". For me, it automatically made me not take it seriously. Make sure you know everything you need to do for your grade, taking tests and quizzes isn't enough. I found out too late and made a C. His massive extracredit at the end kept me from failin.
Although you would think Music Appreciation would be an eassy A this class was alot of work. Everything was really easy it was just alot of busy work and quizzes. Mr. King doesnt know how to stand up for himself and he is one of the nicest men ever but he really doesnt need to be a teacher. I worked my butt off in this class for my A.
Nicest guy you will ever meet. Always willing to help, and truly wants everyone to make an "A." Go to class regularly and he will give bonus points. Highly recommend
Nicest man I've ever met. Take him if you can. I'm not good at music and have to work hard, but he will help in whatever way. Makes music interesting.
I LOVE Dr. King. he is probably one of the nicest, most caring people i have ever met. VERY HELPFUL. This class has a lot of busy work, but he is way better than any other teacher for music appreciation. take him if you can!!!
Easiest class ever. His test are online and open book. He allows you to use a paper with information for listening quizzes. Really does care about students and is willing to help... but i doubt you'll need it.
One of the nicest and most careing teacher you could get! class wasent too hard just a little busy work but overall GREAT class!
If you dont make an a in this class your either lazy or a dumbass. Nicest teacher ever lots of extra credit at the end Study a little for the listening quizes and find other people in your class to take the tests together with. the test are online and easy if a lot of people get together.
Piano Skills with this guy is pretty easy. He expects you to practice, but if you at least try to be prepared for class he gives you a good grade. He has to be one of the NICEST guys i have ever met.
Mr. King is amazing! My favorite teacher I have ever taken in college so far. I highly recommend his class! He truly wants everybody to succeed and make an A. He gives out tons of bonus points and if you go to class and listen to the listening assignments you will do fine! One of the nicest people I've ever met!
Nicest teacher I've ever had. He's the first one who's actually cared about the students...easy A
He's so sweet and his class is such an easy A. Go to class because he takes attendance, but you don't have to take notes (he puts them on blackboard). This class requires little effort to make an A+. Definitely take.
Professor King is truly the nicest professor I have ever had. He truly cares about you as a student. He wants you to succeed and he goes out of his way to help you. I wish every professor was as king and compassionte as Prof. King. His love of music is intoxicating. He is a wonderful piano player. I would highly recommend Prof. King to anyone
King.
By far one of the best professors I have had at Auburn. He makes a bad day/week seem like nothing because of his perspective on life. If you get a chance take him, he truly is an Auburn man.
Very helpful and very kind! I wasn't interested in classical music before taking this class and now I am! Great professor!
Mr. King is by far one of the best professors at Auburn University. He is so kind and understanding. If you need anything he will be glad to help you. I couldnt afford to get the new book with the two cd's included and he let me borrow his until the end of the semester. He is willing to help! Great teacher
He is the most laid back teacher I've ever had. Just go to class, skim over the book, and go over the Homework and it can be an easy A.
Really nice guy who genuinely cares about students. Go to class and take a few notes and its an easy A. Gives generous bonus and will work with you if you have problems. Awesome professor and an awesome person!
Awesome teacher! he's so nice and helpful and is an easy A with a little studying and all the bonus. i STRONGLY recommend him. my favorite auburn teacher so far.
He is seriously the nicest man ever. His class was an easy A. Go to class for participation points and do the bonus assignments. The tests are on blackboard and SO EASY! Everyone always complains that music appreciation is hard..well not this class. TAKE HIS CLASS!
I wouldn't take Music Appreciation with anyone other than Mr. King. Not only does he cancel class at least once a week (usually), but he gives so many bonus assignments that it seems like it would be hard to not make an A. He is probably the nicest man that I've ever encountered. If you're looking for an easy A, Mr. King is your man!
I literally did not study but maybe 3 hours for this class the whole mini-semester and made an A. Also, Mr. King is probably the nicest professor you will have while attending Auburn. Make sure you take him if possible!
Such a sweet and caring man. Makes everything very clear. Buy the online book with the StudySpace, its very helpful with his tests that are online because you can search for the answers.
Mr. King is by far the nicest person I've ever met. I've never had a teacher who cared about the students as much as he does. Do whatever you can to take his class, he's amazing!
So easy.
He's an amazing professor. I loved his class. He is so nice and his class is super easy.
Nicest professor at Auburn. Really cares about his students. As far as difficulty, I took this class 2 years ago with Cam Newton... Enough said.
TAKE THIS CLASS. I adore Mr. King. HE is seriously my favorite professor at auburn. He actually cares about how you do as a student. Read the book for the clicker quizzes he gives, but they are easy! He is so nice and such a great teacher. Take him if you can!!
Mr.King is hands down the best professor I have had. Super genuine guy and he cares about his students. He goes the extra mile to make sure his students know the material. If every professor were like Mr. King, I would take 30 hours a semester and be completely happy.
Take him!! One of the best that Auburn has to offer. He is kind and the class itself is super easy. Buy the online version of the book though.
Hands down the absolute BEST professor that Auburn has to offer! He cares so much about his students and goes the extra mile to make you do well in his class. TAKE THIS CLASS!! If you just put a little time into studying for the tests you will get an A. THE BEST professor ever!
He is the best teacher to take for music!! He is literally the sweetest man ever and his class really is not that hard! Favorite teacher so far!
Mr King is an awesome professor. Really nice guy who wants everyone to do well. If you're not careful, the class will sneak up on you with listening test, but if you study it's not bad. Definitely take him for any music class you have
Very lenient Professor who want you to get an A and makes it very easy to.
He was a very good teacher. If you are struggling go talk to him because he will help. He teaches the material and cares about his students. If you do the work it is an easy class. I personally liked him because he truly loves his job and the students in his classes.
Expected him to be nicer than he was. Called out people in class several times for talking so DONT TALK. DONT TAKE AT 8 am. you will never go and you need the clicker response points. probably the best music teacher but he makes it very hard to go to class. he would get on to the class like he was our parent and turned it into a speech.
King is a great teacher. He legitimately cares about his students. Just don't talk during class; he hates it. There are daily clicker quizzes, so go to class. The only slightly difficult thing is the listening tests, but he gives so much extra credit you could bomb them and do OK.
Sweetest, most legitimately caring teacher. I felt so bad because people were disrespectful and uncaring when he tries so hard to be clear and help you. You can tell he really cares about what he teachers. I got an email from him mid-semester saying I was on the road to failing the class, but I was able to pull it to a final grade of A very easily
Mr. King was great. Very helpful and genuinely cares about his students. Listen early and often for the listening tests which can be tricky, but he gives very complete study guides. If you have 900+ points you can be exempted from the final (I was). Put in a little effort, show some interest, and you can get an A.
Mr. King was great! Class was eh...but it was an easy A and kinda interesting. Mr. King is very helpful and very understanding and flexible.
Super easy class. Mr. King is a very nice guy and is willing to help you out. Tests are very easy and extra credit is given.
Easiest class ever...such a sweet man and willing to help you in any way he can. hardly put any effort and still made an A. definitely take him
DO NOT TAKE AT 8 am! There are clicker quizzes in class and it will hurt your grade if you don't attend. Mr. King was always nice and flexible about missed classes and due dates. He understands how stressful college can be and that's helpful.
Dr. King is a fantastic professor. He is more than happy to help you and understands if you miss class. His tests are easy, and has iclicker quizzes for attendance. Easy A if you keep up with it.
Great guy, easy class. Take him.
He truly is such a great teacher! He is always so kind and understanding and he realizes his class isn't the only one you're taking (unlike so many professors). Go to class and somewhat study and you'll do great! I would take him again if I could!
Awesome teacher! The listening test are based on the songs he wants you to listen to. He gives study guides and you dont need to buy the book because he makes you buy the online version anyway.
**WARNING** this class will put you straight to sleep. Clicker questions daily on the reading assigned from the previous class, fairly easy. Listening test, some studying but mostly memorization. Canvas quizzes, easy. Don't buy the book, you buy the online version. Extremely sweet and caring. Take him, just bring coffee.
My favorite teacher at Auburn. I'm biased because I find the music to be interesting, and he really cares about it. Great class! TENOUTTATEN
Such a sweet man! Class is easy if you skim the reading before class and listen to the pieces. 2 tests online and 4 listening tests in class. Exam is comprehensive but relatively easy. He truly loves music and teaching it and always brightened my day.
Way too Stressful of a class for concepts. The work outside of class was easy and helps your grade a TON but his tests are unbelievably difficult. You have to study hours upon hours of notes. He uses the smallest details in his questions. He will not help you with anything. He's a nice guy but he's just not a good teacher.
Really nice professor. Gave pop quizzes sometimes, but planned quizzes were easy and test were straight forward. The class was boring but it was easy. I would recommend his course.
honestly he's a great professor. Music appreciation with him is the easiest A you will have in all of Auburn as long as you spend at least an hour spending for each listening test, and take the time to get the tests on canvas right (the answers are all in his powerpoints). he has clicker quizzes for attendance but they only accumulate to 10% anyway
King was a GREAT professor!! He is so sweet and sometimes gets nervous teaching to larger classes... but he is so nice! He was always so willing to help and I always felt bad when people wouldn't show up to class because he really loves music!!
I hate music classes, but his class was not hard. King is a great christian man who makes that known, which i like. Not that he pushes it on you if you aren't but he sets himself up as a great mentor. His classes aren't the most interesting, but its music. His class is easy, but you have to work for it also.
Mr. King is the nicest and most caring professor I've ever had. Lectures are boring, but study for the listening tests. He gives in-class clicker quizzes and there are bonus questions. Go to the last class of the semester because he gives you example questions for the exam, but they came straight from the exam. The class is easy, but study.
AWESOME teacher. Easiest teacher i have had at auburn TAKE HIM... He truly does care about each student and provides 50 extra bonus points through out the semester. Each test has 6-10 bonus points you can earn .. Clicker points in every class
He is a sweet sweet man. However his lectures get boring and he gives at clicker questions each class as quiz points and attendance points. Either read the book or pay attention in class. However skipping once or twice wont hurt your grade too much. All his tests are MC, but his listening tests can be tough. 2 concert reviews needed. Talk to him.
He gives quizzes in class for attendance, but they also add up for a grade. Have the book out during the quiz (yes that is allowed) and you should be fine. His tests are pretty easy just don't wait until the last minute. He is a wonderful teacher who is really passionate about what he does, but does not make the class impossible. Great guy!
There is no homework, he puts every lecture online but you should still go to class for the iclicker questions. Overall easy A
Mr. King is the best! If you show up and put effort into the class you will get an A. If you ever need help, he is always there to help. Would definitely take Mr. King again.
King is one of the BEST professors at Auburn. A sweet and gentle man who will open your mind to music like you never experienced before. This class was an adventure! BUT DON'T EXPECT IT TO BE EASY JUST BECAUSE ITS MUSIC. You will need to memorize classical pieces so you recognize them by ear (exams are part listening). You can make an A with effort
Follow his study guides online, and you will get an A. He'll throw some screwball questions your way that aren't actually as clever as he thinks they are, but other than that, it's an easy class.
Mr. King is a very sweet man who cares about his students. Unlike other professors, he realizes that his class may not be your life. If you try in the slightest, you will be fine. There are clicker quizzes nearly everyday that make up 10% of the final grade, but if you read the key terms in the front of each chapter you can get most of them right.
I love him so much! He really enjoys what he teaches, and he makes the class really easy for his students. The only hard part is attending concerts outside of class, but the concerts are always enjoyable to attend. Make sure you take him if you take music appreciation!
He's a very good guy. He wants you to make a good grade. Overall, easiest A I've had in my life.
Very easy class, and Mr. King was part of it. The harder tests are online and he encourages you to use your notes. Listening tests are really easy if you use the study guide. Very nice person that wants you to succeed
I was worried about this class going into it because I did not have am musical background. Mr. King made the material interesting and easy to learn. He was very clear about what would be on tests and the final. I would HIGHLY recommend this class. Easy A while being interesting. Attendance is mandatory because of daily clicker points/quizzes.
Overall not a hard class. If you have any background in music whatsoever, you'll pass with an A. The daily quizzes is what hurt my grade the most, so go over the definitions if you're having trouble. Besides that, it was mostly listening to music and memorizing terms. Don't procrastinate on the two concert reviews!!
Do the reading because it's not much and he gives clicker quizzes on it. He does make it decent for people without musical backgrounds, but you're still going to need to do a lot of studying on your own. Don't just memorize the opening lines of the pieces because sometimes he takes excerpts from the 2nd or 3rd theme. Overall good teacher.
Sweetest man alive. Always motivated us before his classes. Attendance was mandatory. He cares so much about music which made me care about the class. You need the book or the online part at least so you can listen to the songs. There are listening tests and you have to attend 2 concerts and write a paper on them. Attendance quizzes every day.
Ok, Mr. King is the sweetest man ever, but he makes music appreciation way too hard for what it is. I loved him, but hated that you had to work HARD for an A!! His listening tests are so hard even if you study your butt off, and I worked too hard in this class to not get an A. Again, yes he's so sweet, but I just wanted an easy A and didn't get it.
Mr. King makes the class the most enjoyable it could possibly be. Tests are online while listening tests are in class.
I really enjoyed this class. Dr. King is a really nice guy and cares for his students. Read the daily reading assignments so you do well on the clicker quizzes in class (they matter). DO NOT PUT OFF THE CONCERT REVIEWS. They take a while to write. Also, his tests are all online (besides listening) but they took me 3 or more hours to take.
Online textbook is nice, but he makes this class WAY harder than it needs to be. Would recommend taking someone else honestly. Nice guy, but extremely annoying class.
Overall he is a wonderful teacher who cares about his students. However, he doesn't round up your final grade. You have to earn your grade. I would recommend him, you just need to put the time in to do well. An A is doable, however don't slouch on early tests because that will come back to haunt you (final is only worth 10% of final grade).
Very great teacher who cares about his students. Would definitely take again.
Dr. King is one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. He obviously has a huge passion for music. However, I found that the class was a lot harder than it should've been. The listening tests are often really challenging and you have clicker quizzes every class. Don't take it as an 8 am, the music will lull you to sleep!
Passionate about music and cares about his students. Clicker quizzes every day mean you have to show up pretty regularly. Don't wait until the last minute for concert reviews; they're 10% of your grade each and take longer than expected. I put in minimal effort and attended about 2/3 of the classes and scraped by with a low A.
Show up to the class, read BEFORE each lecture so you can make good clicker quiz grades, go to the concerts and actually listen to the music that will on the listening tests and you should do fine. I did not even try and never ever had to worry about my grade in the class.
Great teacher. He takes the class a little too seriously, in that you really have to work for an A in the class. He's the most caring teacher I've had thus far at Auburn though.
Best professor! As long as you show up for class, skim the textbook, and memorize the study guides, you will make a good grade. He offers tons of extra credit and gives you study guides that are practically the test. No excuse to not get an A in this class.
This professor is quiet but such a great guy. DONT buy the textbook because they give you and online version. The class is pretty basic overall. Memorize each study guide and you'll be fine. He gives lots of extra credit with the participation grade and clicker grades so show up to class! You will also have to attend two music concerts for a grade.
Music appreciation should be an easy A. If you have this mentality do not take Professor King. He's a nice man but had no business in making a class like this this hard. The listening tests are impossible and even the take home exams take forever and are hard. He grades your concert reviews really hard too. Pick a different professor.
Super sweet, Christian guy. Cares deeply about music and understands that Music Appreciation is boring to most people, so he tries to make it easy and fun. He is easy except a very tough grader on the concert reviews. Easy A.
King is such a down to earth, sweet man. The class has a lot of work inside and out, but super easy. Every night you have homework quizzes, but you can keep taking it until you get a 100. Go to class!! It is kind of boring, but you have clicker questions that can help you grade even more. Offers a ton of extra credit on concert reports.
I took music appreciation as an easy fine arts credit. However, under Bryan King's instruction it is the exact opposite. He treats his class like a sixth grade teacher would and freaks out about any technology in class, even though most of the class is based online. Also, the clicker questions and online tests are impossible. He should be fired.
He's so nice but save yourself the time and energy (and probably tears). I studied harder for this class than bio or spanish and STILL ended up struggling to bring my grade up from a C at the end of the semester. He does give a pretty good bonus point opportunity at the end of the semester though which is my only hope of getting a B.
He takes an elective way too seriously. Listening tests are much harder than they need to be along with the clicker questions. Sent out an email at the end of the semester saying he knew the class cheated and how we have no character but also said he had no way to prove it. Half of the class is about religion too. Take any other elective instead
Nice guy, just kind of boring. You'll feel like you're back to high school. If you actually try you'll make a good grade, if you fail its because you didn't study at all or skipped assignments. 2 Concert reviews are required by the department (not the teacher). Lots of bonus points and most quizzes/tests are online, open-book. Good basic class.
If you want to take Music Appreciation to get an easy fine arts credit, I cannot recommend Mr. King. Get ready for 3 listening tests, three 60-question online tests, online quizzes for nearly every class, in-class clicker quizzes on the textbook, 2 concert reviews, and a final exam. For most, that's too much to worry about for a class like this.
3 of your 7 tests are online and can be done in groups! The other 4 are in class, but he gives you a study guide to fill out that is basically the test. Clicker questions throughout each lecture. Everything is 10% of you final grade including the final exam. Very easy to make an A. He gives you a lot of opportunity for bonus as well.
I am glad this class is over because you had a lot of homework (easy) and you had to go to class because participation matters over the homework. It was easy, but his tests were sometimes challenging. I am not amazing at music, but his study guides did not really help on the tests. FINAL was SOO hard! Thankfully I had an A from other grades to help
Love this class. It was hard, but fair and I learned a LOT.
