make sure you read the book before the exams, and go to class to get the notes. he is very helpful and likes when you participate in class.
He is a great Statistics teacher. He is very clear and wants every one to do well. As long as you go to class and do the homework you will do ok
GREAT teacher!! He is kind, but won't hesitate to put you in your place if you ask a stupid question (more profs should be more like him). His personality and intelligence combined make him very appealing. One of my all-time faves.
I've never wanted to crawl in a corner and sleep so badly. This class was a natural sedative, and I wouldn't recommend this man to anyone. Not the fairest in his grading, either.
Aweseme teacher. True he is dry in his personality....but he really cares about his student sand will work with you until u understand the material! MUST go to class!!! if you do and study very heard you will do very well!
good teacher for such a boring class. easy tests and no attendence policy
Great Professor! I had him for a summer session, 4 hours a day, but it wasn't as boring as I had thought. Keep up with the readings and be active in class discussions (he likes that). He was extremely helpful, one of the best professors at UNCW!
I found myself busting out laughing even when I dont think he was trying to funny ... esp. when people would say stupid stuff and he'd give them that "look". Very bright man ... flexible...def. read!
he wants everyone to do well & will give you all the help you need. you dont HAVE to read the book unless he says a specific page (if youre smart like me) just go to class & do the practice problems & study your notes from class.
Dr. Myers makes stats. not so bad. It's a hard class, but he really tries to make it to where everyone can make a good grade. He's a really nice guy too, he's a bit dry, but he's the only prof. I'd take for stats.
Dr. Bryan Myers is a wonderful teacher. Clear, precise... I cannot say enough good things about him. I have him for Stats right now and he's awesome and has a good dry sense of humor. :) Best teacher I've had so far.
Such a nice guy! he really cares about his students. Yes hes hard but its worth it, he makes you learn and retain the information. DEFINELTY reccommend him for stats. the class itself is boring but he makes it bearable. plus his jokes every few weeks really make ya smile! A GREAT PROFESSOR!
If you have to take Stats for Behavioral Sciences, take it w/ Dr. Myers. He makes it so easy. And he's pretty funny at times too. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience.
if you need to take stats, take him. he's such a nice guy and goes out of his way to try his best and help you understand the material. he's a little dorky, but does make little jokes every now and again, to lighten the mood. his tests are pretty straightforward, but you need to go to class!
I love myers and his class. That says a lot because I hate stats. You will learn a lot in this class and he is very helpful if you are struggling. You must come to class though! Never miss a day! His TA also grades very fair. Definitely recommended!
Vedry dull at first, but he warms up. Good teacher, easy grading.
Dorky Canadian guy with dry speech and sense of humor. However, he's really likeable and quick-witted, and will occasionally make a really hilarious comment. Grades based entirely on tests, which are about 2/3 lecture-based and 1/3 book-based. Be prepared to read the entire chapters in the book. Also be prepared to take tons of notes in class.
Statistics can be very difficult for many people, but if you do poorly, it won't be because of Dr. Myers. Attend every class and you will likely get at least a B.
if you have a note from a doctors saying that you missed class because you were vomitting profusely, it should be excused. all points possible should be alloted to you. you couldn't help it. he's not fair.
He was so easy. i never even read the book and I got an A. As long as you go to class every day, and pay attention you should have no problem. He is very helpful and although boring at times he is a great teacher.
Awful experience....very sarcastic and not helpful at all I don't advise taking him, unfortunately there aren't many choices for Behavioral Stats.
Really nice guy and great teacher...Make sure to go to class and pay attention and read the textbook and you'll be fine.
Dr. Myers is a really great professor. I would recommend taking him. He goes over material clearly and thouroughly. Greatest teacher at UNCW!
Dr. Myers is a great teacher! He is extremely helpful and is always willing to answer any questions. Class is difficult but if you attend class regularly you will be just fine! He makes it very clear what he is going to test you on. I would definitely do the practice problems, they are helpful for preparing for the tests. There are 4 SPSS homework
Nice professor and willing to help you when necessary. Lectures can be boring.
Dr. Myers is a great professor. He is very funny and I am taking one of his other classes next semester because I like his teaching style. If you take good notes you will do well in his class.
Possibly one of the most boring classes i've ever taken. But considering the extremely difficult material, Dr Myers did a great job teaching it. He was VERY clear about how to do things. Many times I feel like the pace of his teaching was too slow. He gives you the equations on the test but you know how to figure them out
Dr. Myers is a good professor and he is funny, but I don't think he teaches Statistics well. Take him for PSY 336 instead.
I highly recommend Dr. Myers, he is a talented instructor and very approachable. Of course stats is challenging and it is required, but nevertheless, it can be rewarding and Dr. Myers is a great professor.
Definitely take Dr. Myers for 225!! He makes a boring subject interesting, he is extremely nice, & he is funny! If you go to every class it's easy to make an A. He is always more than willing to help you if you have any questions. I never bought the book and I made an A. Overall GREAT professor!!
I loved this class! As long as you go to almost every class and copy down his notes you will be fine! However, if you miss class he will not give you the notes. Just go to class, study before each test and you will be successful in the class. I studied the day before for about 4 hours and I got a B+ on the first test. TAKE THIS CLASS! It's fun!
SO EASY IT'S A JOKE
Class was extremely easy as long as you go to class and follow along. Myers answers any questions you may have even if it has been covered multiple times. He makes sure that you know what the information means not only how to do the problems. Gives extra credit opportunities.
Dr. Myers is great. The class is boring and long and it will be hard to stay awake in but he is a great professor. He really makes sure you understand the material and stops periodically to ask if anyone has questions. He is an industrial psychologist so he knows what he is talking about. His pace is a little slow but not unbearable. Take his class
Great teacher. I hate numbers and statistics but I managed a very strong grade in the class. Does a great job explaining everything and makes sure the students understand before moving on.
This class is required and is super long, but he makes it not bad. He explains everything extremely well and his tests aren't too bad at all. If you pay attention, ask questions, and actually practice the stuff you're learning at least the night before you will do fine!
Loved this professor! Forensic psych is the focus of his research so he brings a great perspective to class. Tests can be a little tricky but if you read the book you should be fine!
Dr. Myers is a really sweet guy who tries his best to make awfully boring material as interesting and understandable as possible. Always has a smile on his face. He is really thorough in explaining. Tests are a little difficult, but he does his best to help prepare you for them. Make sure you attend EVERY single class, you will get lost if you dont
I took this class online. It is very very specific. No extra credit, just 4 exams, 4 essays. You have 45mins to answer 45 questions... this is not as easy as it sounds. The questions are long and sometimes asks overly specific information such as stats on a survey... I'm sorry but what professional even knows this? Got a B, was a nightmare.
The grading system allows for on your 4tests (45points each) and 4essays (10 points each) to only lose 5 points, any more and you immediately are down to an A-... Just something you should consider before enrolling. Absolutely no extra credit is stated in the syllabus, he wants your grade to reflect your understanding... a lot of reading!!!
I was very interested in the subject, and was not thrilled with the grade I made. I am not a strong reader, but work better through several assignments, other than tests. The class was only 4 exams. He was very clear on what he wanted, but if you aren't a strong test taker, the class is not for you.
He is awesome! Very sweet and his lectures are very clear and easy to follow. If you pay attention in class and take notes, do the assigned readings, you will breeze through it
Professor Myers' lectures are extremely long, be prepared to write a ton. And when studying for a test, his only advise is to "read your notes throughly" which did not prove to be helpful at all. The written assignments are easy, but the tests are ridiculous and I wish someone would've told me not to take this professor.
Only grades are 4 tests and 4 online written assignments. Boring and long lectures and difficult tests. Not helpful or clear at all. I thought this would be a fun class, I was mistaken.
Dr. Myers is an amazing professor!! Class is not mandatory, but you need to go if you want the notes. Besides, you will want to go because he makes class so interesting. I've never missed a class all semester by choice! I highly recommend him! Tests aren't too difficult but you must study your notes and do the easy readings.
Not a helpful professor in the slightest. He tells you to read your notes thoroughly but he chooses the most random statistics to put on the tests. Basically memorize everything because there is no way to actually learn anything. I needed this class for my minor and I seriously regret taking this class. He is not a nice person. DO NOT TAKE.
bye bryan
Dr. Myers is a great man but when it comes to his tests he is NO help what so ever. For each section you have to read four articles that are typically over twelve pages each. The articles and the lecture notes are on the test. He does NOT give out study guides and his tests are extremely specific and detailed. I would NOT take this class again.
Hard to make a three hour class interesting buts he explains material very well. Do your best to pay attention and answer questions and he will definitely notice. As a student who struggles with math courses, I did very well and appreciated his style of teaching. Would highly recommend Myers as he made the material applicable for psych students.
Long, boring lectures. He might as well be teaching a rock. Starts sentences with "you might be thinking..." Answers all his own questions or asks rhetorical questions. Cares more about the definitions of stuff than actually being able to do math. Teaches as if he is teaching a group of preschoolers. If you don't have ADD, you will in his class
I had Dr. Myers for 3 hours every TueThursday and he would keep us there the entire time whether or not he was teaching us useful information or not. His lectures are insanely boring, he is rude to struggling students and his tests are impossible to predict. DO NOT TAKE.
Test come from notes and textbook, also have a few research papers due.
This class is amazing!!! I would encourage anyone to take this course. Professor Myers pulls extremely interesting information and you will always find yourself wanting to read the material he gives because it is so interesting. His readings are long but the class work and tests are fair for a college course! I wish he had a two semester course!
I loved Professor Myers, he is such an adorably dorky teacher . Intro to Behavioral Statistics isn't the easiest course but it's required for a psychology major and he is definitely the teacher to take. He gives a lot of extra credit with 4 exams and 2 SPSS tests. If you work for it you got it. He's very helpful and as clear as he can make it!!
I love this class. There is no textbook (saving money), but he does assign reading. The readings are long but interesting. Show up to class and complete the study guide and will you a good grade for sure. The Writing assignments are simple and you have plenty of time to do them. I always showed up because the class was interesting! Love it!
Great professor!!! Extremely knowledgeable, and incredibly patient!!!
PSY 225 can be pretty dense, but Dr. Myers explains material clearly. If you care about is getting out early, then don't take this class because he will often keep you for the whole time. If you care about your grade, then take his class because he has 4 exams, an optional final, and extra credit. He even brought Krispy Kreme once!
Dr. Myers is awesome! He is super helpful sometimes he went super slowly but it was good for people who werent getting it. Didnt use the textbook once. YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS!! You won't pass unless youre like a genius in math if you dont go to class. He was also really funny, made me laugh a lot.
The best way to describe Dr. Myers is that he would the "dad" of the psychology department. Super sweet guy and funny. The exams are based off the lecture so skipping class might not be an option. There is no textbook however he does post 3 articles for you to read before exams. There will be questions about them on the exams. Good prof all around.
Great teacher, I'm bad a math and I did really good in this stats class.
Dr. Myers definitely does a good job teaching the material. As long as you pay attention in class and do practice problems on your own before the tests, you will do fine. He also gives a lot of extra credit to help boost your grade at the end of the semester. He is not always the friendliest professor, but he can teach.
Dr. Myers gives clear and concise lectures. His tests are a little tough sometimes but if you take clear notes and read the articles he posts for you, you should have nothing to worry about.
Okay so, I really think that Dr. Myers is a wonderful professor, but I struggled a lot with the content in this class. I felt like it was a lot of memorization of court cases, which I personally am not interested in. The content itself was easy though, and there was never any homework, just some readings and four short written assignments.
He is hilarious & a real sweetheart. Only have 4 tests and 4 quick writing assignments due the day of the tests. Subject and lectures are super interesting, he talks about his experiences a lot. Make sure to study for those tests though, he posts study guides with basically all the answers you'll need though. ALSO NO TEXTBOOK!!!!!
I struggled with math in general my entire life but Dr. Myers explains everything so well and is very open to questions and extra help.
He can teach, but is very rude and wastes your time. When answering questions he would interrupt us before we could finish or accuse them of not looking at him/paying enough attention to his answer. He also likes to spend lots of time teaching a conceptual method only to stop after an hour and inform us that this would not be what is on the test.
Dr. Myers is a good teacher, and he wants everyone to have a thorough understanding of the material. He does sometimes misunderstand students' questions because he doesn't let them finish their sentences, and he assumes he knows what they're going to say. However, he will meet with students to explain material, and gives lots of extra credit.
Dr. Myers is one of the best professors that I have ever had, and I am so happy that I got to take his class. I was worried about taking statistics and I was even more nervous when we had to go online, but Dr. Myers did an excellent job. He clearly explains the material and genuinely cares about his students. If you have the opportunity, take him!
Dr. Myers was engaging and kept class interesting, and gave reason to keep participating and showing up in class. He laid out what was necessary to know for our own benefit, and focused more on student comprehension than grades & completing work. Definitely go to class, even though it is not required, he lays out his exams during lectures.
4 tests, 4 assignments, 2 extra credit. Thats it. Oh, and A LOT of reading. Do. Not. Wait. Until. The. Last. Minute. I learned some interesting stuff, but I definitely put the work in for it.
I am currently taking PSY 225 with Dr. Myers. He is never too busy to answer questions and appreciates feedback. He will respect you if you respect him. Attendance is not mandatory and he posts lectures online, but people strongly benefit from showing up to class. The class is 3 hours but he gives a break.
LOVE Dr. Myers! I'm currently taking 292 with him (Criminal Minds, which I highly recommend) and he is amazing as always! This is my third class with him and I highly recommend taking him if you ever get a chance. There are only a few assignments (quizzes, assignments, etc.), but you have plenty of time to do them and he gives extra credit!
Dr. Myers is very sweet, but the class 3 hrs and i felt so ADD the whole time. You have to follow very closely in class which is hard to do for 3hrs twice a week. His tests are SO hard, but the SPSS tests arent bad and he gives a generous amount of extra credit. Only take this class with him if you are able to work hard in it, its a lot.
Such a good teacher to take for STATS 225. Extra credit, open-note tests, 2 take home tetsts that he gives videos for, and lets us out early everyday. Kind of boring and can drag on, but it's very bearable. If you can, take any classes you can with him because he really cares about his students. Just take thorough notes and you're good.
This seemed like a fairly simple class, 4 tests and 4 assignments with extra credit opportunity. Well in order to even pass the class I had to do the extra credit. It dis not matter how much I read, or how in depth I did the study guides, I failed almost all of the tests. He is a brilliant professor but reflects that much too well on his tests.
Interesting course, if you do the reading you will learn a lot! He provides good feedback and a LOT of extra credit opportunities. Tests are VERY difficult, lot of memorization for a LOT of materials such as lectures, reading, studies, etc. Don't take over the summer if this is something you really want to take. Not an easy A whatsoever!
This is a very interesting class. You are graded on 4 exams and 4 written assignments but he offers multiple extra credit opportunities. I took this course over the summer so it was very fast paced. There is no textbook required. Dr. Myers knows his stuff.
One of the worst classes Ive taken at UNCW. He is boring. Its impossible to stay focused during class. Powerpoints are slide after slide of nothing but paragraphs so its impossible to study the important details. Multiple 20-30pg articles each unit. His tests are EXTREMELY hard. I definitely would not take this class or Bryan Myers again.
This class could be so interesting but unfortunately Dr. Myers is so boring in lectures. Tests were very hard and did not reflect class material so I only made an A because of extra credit and 4 other assignments. He seems to be passionate about this class but just doesn't do a good job at teaching it, I don't feel that I gained anything from this.
I loved professor Myers's forensic psych class. There are 4 written assignments that do help your grade, but tests do matter. I recommend studying terms and really understanding them for tests. But, overall I really think he teaches a fun and easy class.
Meyers is an amazing professor & knows what he's talking about. Stats was a LONG class (3 hrs 2x a week) but take it with him. I found that if I just went to class and took good notes I didn't have to do ANY work outside of the class. Tests were open-note which helped so much. Tests were fair & never any trick questions. He also gives extra credit
I dreaded Dr. Myers lectures because he does go very slow and it's a long class, but he is very knowledgable with what he is teaching and is a great professor. Grading is based off of 4 exams and 2 other assignments so exams are crucial for your grade but they are open note and he has great study resources available. Very helpful and accessible.
Professors Myers is a very nice man, but the lectures are pretty boring. You kinda need to go to class to understand the material. This isnt a class you can glide by in, as a lot of the material on the tests there is no way you could guess on. You need to study a lot to get a good grade. This class is also a lot of the logistics of Forensic Psy.
Need to take PSY225? TAKE IT WITH Dr. Myers! open note exams, provides SO much extra credit, gives detailed step by step walk through of solving equations and using SPSS. I cannot stress enough attendance isn't graded BUT DO NOT SKIP! you will fail if you skip! trust me you cannot cram info at home you need his instruction.
Prof. Myers breaks down the concepts for his students very well. The class itself is dense, but his teaching style is thorough. Lots of extra cred opportunities and open-note exams. Not an easy-breezy class by any means, but topics are clearly taught.
Dr. Myers is extremely nice and understanding, and very knowledgeable about the things he teaches. He gives you the powerpoints ahead of time and there are very few short written assignments that are really easy. His lectures can be a little boring sometimes (sort of just the nature of the material), but overall I think it's a class worth your time
He is an especially great professor even if you do not understand basic statistics. He breaks information down really well for anyone that is having trouble understanding. You do not actually need the "required" textbook for this class. He always seems in a positive mood and cares about what he teaches.
Dr. Myers was great when I had him (I took him over the summer). Do the practice questions before the exam and write good notes during his lectures. Should be an easy A if you are able to put at least 30 hours a week studying.
I absolutely adore Dr. Myers, he is an amazing professor and truly cares about everyone. He is extremely thorough on concepts in his lectures, which I appreciate. He provides a variety of extra credit opportunities to give everyone an equal chance of succeeding in his class. As long as you study terms, you're fine. All tests are open notes too :).
Great professor, exceptional at using analogies to simplify statistics in psychology. Definitely go to class because he explains it the best way in person. Do the extra-credit homework throughout the semester and pay attention in class and you'll make an A.
He is very nice, helpful, and thorough. This class is not an easy one, but Myers is very patient, has no problem answering questions and helping you out. I would definitely recommend taking his class for Stats.
Just finished with a B+ after starting at 45%. Dr. Myers really wants you to succeed: go to every class, hit office hours, and do the practice and extra-credit—those points add up fast. If you take all other tests in person, he lets you take the final online. Don't fear the SPSS assignments; stay on top of them and you'll be fine.
I took his online summer class. His lectures were amazing & clear, he provides notes that have everything u need. Exams were open note. He has office hours & wants students to succeed. Don't buy the textbook, u don't need it. Offers extra credit work. Exams were clear & don't try to trick you. Class avgs on exams were always high 80s. He's amazing!
There was only work due every 4 weeks. There would be a reading quiz, lecture notes quiz, and a brief essay. Then there was one big profiling assignment. The class was really cool but there was a ton of reading. The readings and notes can take a while, but I always waited till the day it was due and I was still able to get it done.
4 units. Read articles, watch videos, read lecture slides. Reading quiz, lecture quiz, and small essay in each unit. Profiling essay at the end. Takes very little of your time, at your own pace. Pretty easy.
