Excellent class! Talks with such clarity and flow. Very easy to listen to. I would take any class with him. If you pay attention to the stories, its a fairly easy class. I recommend it.
Really great prof. Course was platonic and a bit boring, but he is passionate about the subject. Only problem is the tutorial part of the class - extremely pointless, bad selection of TA's as well. This course could easily do without the tutorial as it is unnecessary.
Excellent Professor! Always smiling and making things interesting. detailed power points really helped. Always ready to answer questions or explain things in more depth.
Really nice guy, knows and loves his stuff.
He is a wonderful prof! Really sweet and funny. Lectures were quite interesting and relaxed. Posts his notes on Blackboard before lectures so students can skim over them. Loads of memorization, but it's quite easy if you're interested in Greek and Roman myths. I would definitely recommend this prof!
Best prof I've had all semester, the way he tells the myths are very funny and makes it very easy to remember them. His lecture slides are not too clustered and allows you to give your hand a break in between his pictures. Midterm was very fair and easy.
Best prof I've had all semester, the way he tells the myths are so funny, it makes it really easy to remember them. Slides are spread between information and pictures so you can give your hand a break in between different gods/heroes. Quizzes and midterm were really easy, especially if you have him as your Lab teacher.
Amazing prof!! He's super funny and very clear on what he wants. As long as you study the notes which he posts online and read the textbook you should do awesome.
Great prof! He loves to answer any questions and makes lectures interesting. Always trying to help you succeed, try to get your tutorial class with him very insightful. Textbook helps with specify things from class but not really needed
Amazing prof! Quizzes and midterms are fair and easy!
Fantastic prof! I love this class! He is really interesting and funny, so its really easy to stay focused. I recommend that you go to the lectures because he explains things really well, but you don't need to. Also, reading the textbook isnt necessary because his notes are better. Midterms and quizzes are fair and relatively simple!Best class ever!
Amazing guy that is passionate about his work and teaches like a pro. Super funny and emphasizes topics that will be covered on exams. If you study his slides and do light readings, you'll ace the course. He also wears a suit every lecture and looks like a Greek god himself(hair wise). Doesn't get any better than that!
Bryan Natali is an AMAZING prof! His lectures were very clear and easy to understand. He made the lectures interesting, and even comedic. He followed the textbook to the t, so if you missed a lecture it was easy to stay on top of the material. The exams were very easy! This class was the best!!!
An amazing prof! Would definitely take a course with him again! Super clear and makes the material really interesting. Not a hard class, which makes it a great elective if you have tough courses. Easily my favourite prof I had this term. Very engaging.
This course is interesting however as an options course there is a lot of reading. The entire textbook is covered but some may find that Bryan's class power points are sufficient for the 2 midterms and final.Bryan is great and interesting to listen to and is helpful outside of class. The midterms and final are extremely easy as long as you have read
BEST CLASS EVER. Natali is one of the best speakers I've ever heard. He really loves what he teaches and his notes are fantastic. I got away without doing the readings, just attend the lectures. You'll want to anyways. He really cares for his students and for what he does. I have a friend who literally sat in on the class for fun. Great prof!
Students looking for an interesting GPA booster are in for a treat. Bryan adds his own quirks and tells you exactly what you need to know. I appreciate that he lectures from his own knowledge. First time I've seen almost the entire lecture hall off facebook to listen. I found the textbook to be unnecessary as lecture content was more than enough.
Great Prof. He knew exactly what he was talking about and really has a passion for the subject making it much more interesting. With that kind of hair, he can be a greek god himself. Read the textbook and lecture notes posted. Easy tests if you just attend the class. All mc test so it makes it even more easy. Quite the GPA booster.
Awesome prof! Really interesting to listen to and made easy straightforward notes. Quizes, midterms & the final were easy and exactly from his notes and textbook. He emphasizes the important things you need to know so I found lectures helpful and interesting. definitely take this class if you can!
Natali was honestly one of the best profs I've had so far. He makes the subject really interesting and it encourages you to actually go to class and pay attention. I definitely recommend this class and this prof.
Clear, concise, enthusiastic, funny, organized, detailed and looks like a suit-wearing Greek legend himself; what more could anyone ask for? I didn't bother with buying the textbook as his notes and lecture were more than sufficient. I was blessed with the opportunity of getting him for my lab component. Quizzes and tests were easy. Guaranteed A+!
Super dude! Bryan makes the class interesting and makes you want to go and want to pay attention and do well. He's always eager to help and answer questions and is caring and wonderful to deal with. Easily my favourite prof and he has made my first semester much more enjoyable that I suspect it would otherwise be. He's rad- take his class!
Amazing professor. His lectures are clear and concise, and he really knows how to present the material in an interesting way. He's a great speaker. Class is interesting and it's easy if you keep up with readings. No assignments, only tests.
Exceptional prof. Classes didn't feel like he was lecturing you, but that he was trying to help each and every student. Quite funny and relaxed. He comes in and it feels like he is excited to teach the class. Easy marker, for Latin at least. If you have a chance to take his class, I would really recommend it.
Literally the best prof I've ever had. He made everything interesting, and the whole class was just like story time. Don't bother getting the textbook; just take good notes.
Dr. Natali is a great prof, relatively easy grader (our midterms were only like 2 or 3 pages with fill in the blanks, and pretty fundamental stuff, no tricks about them) and he is always very helpful and super respectful. If you need or want to take Latin or Ancient Greek, you should try and get him for those classes.
Prof Natali is a BOSS.
He is a story teller and you don't need the textbook, his lectures and notes are enough for the exams. The tests were very easy and actually pretty fun to write.
Such a great prof, made the class so interesting and really tries to engage students in the material being taught. great class with him!
Very knowledgeable and approachable. You don't need the textbook if you take good notes in class. I loved attending his lectures, it felt just like story time! He is always willing to clarify anything and makes his tests very straight forward with no trick questions. Would highly recommend this class.
You will probably never meet a nicer human being. It's a bonus that he's a fantastic prof. I've never enjoyed a course this much! So interesting, and very fair and straightforward. Do yourself a favour and take any class you can with this man.
He knows his Greek/Roman Mythology inside out. He's very engaging, funny and his tests were super easy, as long as you pay some attention and go over his lecture notes. Very straightforward. One of my favorites!!
Hands down best prof at U of C. Extremely knowledgeable in his discipline of study. Textbook use is not required, just make sure to take notes and follow along with the slides. I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a good GPA booster.
he is one of the best profs i've had!! he is really enthusiastic about the material he's teaching which makes class a million times better and way more interesting to learn! also can be pretty funny. i plan on taking many more classes with him! highly recommended
A truly amazing, helpful, and nice prof who is passionate about the content. MC exams were really easy. He posts his power points online but attending class is mandatory as he expands on the slides. Textbook use is not mandatory but it is pretty helpful. Course content was interesting and story based, which is refreshing. Definitely a GPA booster.
Brian teaches really well; he manages to make the dry(er) content bearable and the interesting tidbits even better. It is very important to write good notes (to review on), and listen (good to recall names on tests) so that the textbook nor supplementary readings are necessary. Tests are straightforward but brief studying is needed.
Take any class you can with Professor Natali. This course is easy in general but Natali made it fun as well. Just write notes and study them for the tests. If you need to take an option take any GRST class with Natali. You won't regret this class.
made GRST209 awesome and a really enjoyable experience never boring and makes it really interesting highly recommend him
Best prof ever!
Bryan Natali was by far my favourite prof second year! He made class so much fun and although you don't need to show up, you'll want to! He's hilarious and I definitely recommend him to anyone. If you need an easyeasier option, definitely take grst 209 with Natali.
Such an awesome prof! Keeps you engaged and this course is very easy. Highly recommend!
Amazing prof! Engaging lectures.
Natali is such a good prof! The curriculum is already interesting but having someone teach it to you in an interesting & humorous way makes it even better. The textbook is a lot of reading but it helps because his tests are all memorization of specifics from the lectures & the books. His notes are really good too, and he posts the slides on d2l.
Professor Natali is by far one of the best. The class content was super interesting and he made it fun for everyone. Hilarious guy! Tests were all MC, directly out of the class notes, which he posts on D2L. The textbook was interesting and a good review but not entirely necessary. As long as you listen to the myths in class you'll be good to go!
Natali is amazing. This class was hands-down the highlight of my semester. Amazing prof, Interesting material, and really fair tests, attend class and take good notes and you'll do well. I would take this class again every semester. Love, love LOVE!
He gives pretty good notes, and is an amazing lecturer. Feels like story time in his class. I found the best way to study was to read the textbook, just because your reading the myths again helps reinforce the info. However, his tests are super easy. The final? Easiest final I have ever written, including high school finals. Definitely worth it.
Natali is one of the funniest and charming professors I have taken a class with. He will literally tell you everything you need to know but the way he teaches is so enjoyable I actually wanted to go to class. Easiest midterms and final I have ever had, completely multiple choice. The final took me 15 minutes and I got 96% or so. Take this class!
Simply amazing. He is a great lecturer, and tests are super straightforward and easy. You can never do anything worse than A if you just go to class and take good notes. I never even opened the textbook and still got A+ on everything.
He talks way too fast-- I could barely keep up. His classes felt like they last forever. Made a very interesting subject sound boring. The textbook is a pain to read. He asked questions on very small details for the test. Some of his jokes were in really poor taste. RateMyProf really misled me on this one.
Wow, not what I expected. This is a HARD grst class. Took this class based on the ratings on here.. Lots of memorization, his exams require you to write essays. Pretty ridiculous for an intro class. Wouldn't recommend it if you're trying to take an easier option. Unorganized material and you really need to devote a lot of studying time.
one of THE BEST profs I've ever had. Took the course as an option and the tests were so ridiculously easy A+ on both midterms , did them in 20 min. A lot to read but its pretty interesting did not mind it at all, I mean what else did you expect to read in a mythology class ? lol funny approachable guy really enjoyed his lectures. Also good slides.
Bryan is an incredible prof. Have taken both GRST209 and GREK203 with him. Amazing. Always willing to help. 209 is simple; I'm amazed at ppl who think it's hard. Read, pay attention, it's easy. Easily the best prof I've ever had. Wish he taught more classes. Plus, he's a down-right babe. Want a good grade, class, prof? This is the whole package.
Natali is amazing! The classes don't seem long at all and he makes it interesting. Have to attend class and take good notes. Makes it clear what to expect on tests. Tests are pretty straight forward and not that tough.
Would definitely take again. Bryan Natali is a great prof, and while you can miss out on class (i wouldn't recommend it) his lectures are worth going to. He's awesome and keeps everyone intrigued. Really great class to take, studying is a lot of fun when all you have to remember are a bunch of stories. Definite Easy A.
Easy exams. I was done the 2 hours final in half an hour! He makes already interesting stuff more interesting
You can get away without the textbook readings and still get an A but the readings will help clarify the slides he posts. Go to the review classes before the midterms as he gives out hints for the written portion of the midterms. Overall, easy class great prof very approachable.
This proff was awesome. He made the course interesting and his exams were very easy. I would recommend taking this course with him.
You either come to class or read the textbook and you'll get an A. The final was all multiple choice based on characters so if you knew anything about the stories or read your lecture notes once before coming to the final, you'd easily get above a 90. The midterms one short essay each but they did not care about grammar, only about subject.
He is a great story teller. Plus he lets you call him Bryan. Very friendly and has a great beard. His lectures are humorous and entertaining.
It's easy to want to go to class because he is a brilliant lecturer. I promise you I did not do all of the readings, by any stretch of the imagination.. But, I showed up and listened. That's all it takes and it's not hard to do.
I didn't open the textbook and got 91% and 100% on the midterms. The final was 100 questions, cumulative, and worth 40%; I didn't have time to re-study earlier material, so this is where I lost marks. Straightforward memorization class in relation to other courses. Great prof though- love his voice and energy and myth-telling ability!
what a great prof! I wish he would teach more classes. Exams are super easy& all MC. I would literally study the night before and get an A +! Very cool guy- rounds your mark up and a very interesting story teller. The class itself is really interesting. Textbook & additional reading NOT needed to get an A.
This would have been an easier course if there was no written on the tests (which he added last semester) Attendance mandatory if you wanna get a good mark
All around a great lecturer and makes class interesting. The tests were super easy. You could easily pass just by reading the textbook if you want but his lectures are actually enjoyable. He is also really funny and has a cool beard.
Bryan is a really great professor and a great person in general! His class isn't easy but he's a reasonable marker, and he is always willing to meet up and give you extra help. His classes are fun and he always keeps your attention!
Dr. Natali is an amazing lecturer that clearly knows what he is talking about. He posted the lecture notes before classes and posted which chapters to read in the textbook (interesting but not necessary). I really enjoyed this class and would absolutely take another course with Dr. Natali.
Dr. Natali is an amazing lecturer, this course should always be taught by him. He is so funny in class and the materials are extremely interesting except the names. You don't have to go to class to pass but remember to read the text book because sometimes he would test some stuffs on it besides the notes. But go to lectures anyways because its fun
He is amazing! Built the tests with you and is working to help everyone pass
Natali is a great lecturer and the way he tells you myths is so funny! I'm definitely more interested in Greek and Roman myth now. The tests were easy. Did you go to class? Did you listen? Then you should have no trouble. No paper this term thankfully just multiple choice. Textbook is interesting.
Amazing lectures, very helpful and responds enthusiastically if asked for help
Bryan Is an amazing prof. Tests are super easy to do well on as long as you read the lecture notes. Looks like Zeus, 10/10 would bang.
Dr. Natali is a great prof at UofC, he made GRST 209 very easy to understand. The textbook isn't required at all, his notes are just fine. Just attend lectures and listen and you'll be fine. Tests are very easy as well.
One of the best lecturers and generous. Each lecture is interesting. Make sure you either listen during class, or catch up by reading the text book. Only 2 midterms and 1 final, all really fair.
Bryan is great. Just show up to class and read over the notes before the tests. Textbook was not needed at all unless you miss class
Passionate prof, one of the few who you believe actually enjoys their job. Had a lot of fun in his class.
I really enjoyed his lectures. You could tell he was passionate about the subject! He was always willing to assist in any way possible, and went the extra mile. There was two midterms and a final, and they were based on lectures. The two midterms were easy, but the final was really brutal. Overall, though, I would take this class again!
Hands down, my favorite prof of this year. He is hilarious. You can tell he enjoys what he teaches. He answers any and all questions, even if he doesn't know, he will take the time to look it up so he can give you an answer. If you can read his PowerPoints (which are super easy) you can pass the tests. Great class and great prof
Bryan Natali is by far the best prof I have had in my first year of being at UofC. His passion and love for what he does is evident in his teaching style. Makes everything so interesting and easy to understand. Would definitely love to have him as a prof again. If you do your part studying (there is quite a bit of material) you can easily get an A.
Dr. Natali is clear, concise and says what he expects out of the class from the very get go. He's funny, charming and looks like he hails from Ancient Greece which I'm sure he knows fits his material splendidly. The mythos is very memorable in and of itself so it's very easy to pass the class, even simply with lecture notes. Fun guy, great hair.
Bryan is by far one of my favourite professors. His lectures are incredibly interesting and informative. He's approachable and his tests are extremely fair. Great class if you are wanting an easy A.
Being taught Greek myth by Zeus himself was a worldly experience
Being taught Greek Myth by retired Zeus was great. He's super kind, funny and overall a great prof. MUST TAKE IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT TO ELYSIUM
Absolutely amazing prof! Lectures are great and he keeps you engaged and interested, great sense of humour as well. Exams are really easy as long as you show up! Easy A. Also, he is a super babe.
The best prof or teacher I have ever had. Lectures are so much fun and he is really engaging. Took it during the Spring and didn't even realize where the 2.45hrs went! I would take this class over and over again just for fun with this prof. No surprises on any assessments, everything is what you learned.
I can not understand all these positive ratings. The prof himself is passionate but he pays attention to unnecessary detail, gives dry lectures and the actual content is very boring. No assignments and the final is worth 40% plus the tests are difficult and the questions are taken from very specific facts that you must know. This is NOT an easy A
Dr. Natali is quite easily the best professor I have had while at the University of Calgary. If you go to class and really commit to listening and understanding as well as writing the information, the questions on the tests are fine, since they should be automatic. A lot of material, but he makes it enjoyable and is very funny too.
great teacher really funny and enjoys what he teaches 10/10 would recommend
one of the best profs in uofc no doubt! I really enjoyed the lectures because of how Prof Natali taught the course; he made it really easy to understand the material. There's a lot of memorization but it was interesting learning all the myths. In my opinion, you don't really need the textbook. Stick to info from lectures and the notes he posts.
Get taught the ins and outs of Greek and Roman mythology straight from Zeus himself and laugh every step of the way while learning interesting things you've never thought about before. Show up, take basic notes, and pass the tests with flying colours.
I loved this class so much! so unbelievably interesting and he is so good at presenting all the mythology and the stories are so funny it's hard not to remember every detail.I looked forward to this class so much and the lectures were fantastic basically like story time + exams are fairly easy but if you don't read the lecture notes it'll be tough
Amazing class and Natali is the best professor to teach it, because he is retired Zeus who has come to grace us common-folk. Take notes on the power points he provides and what he says about the info in the ppts. Know names, times, relationships and places etc for the test and you'll get an A.
Amazing lecturer. Take the notes that he gives and you'll do fine. To bad he left the U of C. One of the lecturers I actually liked.
Bryan is an amazing prof with engaging lectures. He is extremely approachable and easy to talk to, he is always willing to help you with any issue you maybe having no matter how small. I would highly recommend taking a class with Bryan if you get the chance you will not regret it
I really enjoyed Dr. Natali! By far the most accommodating and positive teacher I've had. I was dreading taking Latin, but I am strongly considering taking another Latin class under his teaching! Highly recommend!
