Absolutely spectacular. This is his first semester teaching, but he TA'd for a long time so he knows what he's doing, and since he was a student so recently, he doesn't make it too hard on us. His wording is a little confusing sometimes, and there are a lot of in-class examples (which is annoying but helpful). Cheat sheets, no final, fair grader

Bryan is awesome. He puts all of his power points online, so going to lecture isn't a must. However, if you do go he will walk you through how to do problems step by step which is useful. He lets you use cheat sheets for tests, which aren't too difficult in the first place. Don't buy the book because no one ever uses it.

As a statistics major, this class will be so valuable moving forward and Bryan did an AMAZING job teaching it. I really appreciated the time he took to answer everyone's questions in class and how responsive he was to my emails. It's also the most organized class I've ever taken. Bryan is an absolute gem!

Greatest professor I've had at Pitt, no question. Everything he does is clear and makes statistical sense (ex: his attendance system). Lectures are engaging (he is passionate). The homework challenging and graded accurately. I learned a ton in this class and also had fun. I would consider the projects I did in this class among my best college work.

He is great. Records all lectures, gives practice questions almost identical to questions he asks on the exam, never trying to trick you with content. Very clear about grading criteria and every accessible and helpful. very energetic 8am in the morning and did his best to make sure people understood content. cheat sheet on every exam. I've had Bryan for three classes and this was by far my favorite. He can be kinda serious in other classes but this one was a lot more relaxed. No exams in this course, just homework and two projects that are actually a lot of fun to work on since there's a lot of freedom. Sad that I won't have any more classes with him.

This was the most organized class I've ever taken in my life. Dr. Nelson makes expectations clear from day 1 so you always know what's expected. There are no surprises which made it really easy to succeed. He's also really good at teaching. He stops and asks if there are any questions pretty often to make sure things are clear before moving on.

His lectures are great. Everything is super organized. Three noncumulative exams and 10~ish homework. Homework can take several hours at times but they're still doable. Make sure you attend the lectures(or/and read his lecture notes) and review your homework before exams.

The most amazing professor I have had at Pitt. Lecture recordings and notes with fill-in blanks are posted on Canvas in a super organized way. Homework can take quite some time, but they are reasonable. Many practice problems are provided for midterms and you are allowed to use cheat sheets for all of them. They are also graded very quickly.

Extremely organized and incredible lecturer.9-10 HW assignments that take 1-2 hours + tons of extra practice problems that prepare well for exams. Need to have strong understanding of p values and hypothesis testing. Content is not super hard to understand because he is an amazing lecturer and records them. Exams are more conceptual than you think.
